The smash burger had a tasty sauce but was drenched in it. Makes sense considering the patties had no taste. The fries had so many toppings but so little flavour

Tried the spicy pork Bento. Very flavourful and the croquettes were fantastic. Good package overall. One note, this restaurant is take out only. Vegetarian options: There is one vegetarian tofu Bento that can be ordered vegan, I think they just dont include the egg. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level, very low door sill.

If you re wondering why I gave this a 1 star review look at the photo of the inside of my chicken sandwich. Disgusting!

Biggest regret is not coming here sooner. Amazing amount of food that you could easily turn into two meals, but all these Korean staples were fresh, tasty and harmonious in the bento box format. Secret star of my order was the sweet soy lotus root, which was a unique, crunchy way to get that soy kick I crave with Korean cuisine. Karaage chicken was sensational (would recommend getting a second serving of the KFC aioli), but can t wait to try the other menu options.

Had been wanting to check out this spot for a while and while I finally got to I was pretty disappointed. Food was ready in 5 minutes which I was initially excited about but then it turned out that everything was soggy and pre-made! Had it around 7 pm so it was near closing time but it was obvious that the food had been sitting for a while :( Fish bento was probably my favourite. But the chicken karage with fries and the hot chick sandwich were all stale and cold. Unfortunately will not be returning.

I returned to here because the Karaage chicken sandwich is absolutely incredible. When I was ordering the sandwich I asked for less tartar sauce. I got the impression that the cashier didnt understand me so I asked nicely if she didnt mind to let the guy working in the kitchen know. I didnt remember shed be the one who put the sauce on at the end. Anyways the man in the kitchen who is actually the owner?! apparently was very disgruntled that I asked her to pass the message, stating he heard me and not to yell?! at the cashier. Omg I did not yell at the cashier! Maybe my voice is louder than some, but truly I was just trying to affirm she got the message. I was really embarrassed and offended that I was being accused of being unkind to the cashier. She was very lovely and sweet and I had the best of intentions. The manager was fronting me all like I could refund that for you implying I dont need the sandwich anymore and basically I should go. I began to tear up out of frustration and confusion as to why I was being spoken to like I had disrespected the employee. The owner even admitted she didnt speak English, which I could tell , but I didnt mind , only that my sandwich had less sauce this time around... when I mentioned I really didnt think she understood and it was a misunderstanding he said She understood, right after he told me she didnt speak much English. Okay well Im SORRY I didnt get much of a firm response that the order would be modified so I didnt know. I must be a terrible person. Anyways in the end I said if just sit down and wait for my sandwich, in tears. He did refund the sandwich in the end which I appreciate, but I really cant believe how he treated me as a customer. All he had to say was Yes no problem, less sauce coming up but instead he made me out to be some ignorant woman who disrespected his employee when I honestly didnt. Not once did I show anger, I simply repeated myself clearly because Im paying for the sandwich and I want it how I like it. Really disappointed because I really love the food and was excited to return - its Korean fried chicken and I lived in Korea, so it gave me a sense of nostalgia to go there. Maybe I should order delivery next time . Lastly, I apologize sincerely to the cashier if she felt like I was yelling at her - but I was smiling the whole time I really dont think she did and I think the owner was just fed up with previous customers.

We used to live very close by and were extremely excited to try this spot when they opened. They did not disappoint! They continue to knock it out of the park consistently! Very happy to report it is as good when delivered to my new home as it was when we walked in to pick-up. Literally everything on the menu is delicious. I have a special soft spot for the karaage chicken bento, but there is always something new and exciting in the menu! Ribs? Fish sandwich?! Birria tacos!?!? Curry waffle fries?!?! With waffle fries!!! What s not to love? Don t sleep on this spot!!!

Best takeout in Toronto, hands down. Literally everything is fresh, delicious and full of flavour. The bentos have the perfect mix of tastes and textures. Service is fast, sides are incredible, and portions are generous. Plus they have literally the only flavour of La Croix worth drinking - key lime. We order here weekly - I really can t recommend it enough.

Great chicken burger spot. Order for takeout strictly. Staff is not trying to entertain your rapport building shenanigans.

2023 May 3.5 Hawk and chick is a take out and stand in place only. Walk right in and its an open kitchen. Here, during busy hours it gets busy with orders. Typically, each bento box takes about 10 mins to prepare. Karaage Fried Chicken Bento $15.99 Pretty good, though since its takeout, eating this asap would keep it crispy. Comes with good lightly spicy dipping sauce. Also comes with a very small side of kimchi. Spicy Pork Bulgogi Bento $15.99 Probably the best bento here. Spicy and full of flavors. Goes well with the potato croquette. Also comes with a very small side of kimchi. Birria style Korean Beef Tacos $15.99 A homestyle beef taco made of marinated beef wrapped in a corn flour tortilla. While flavors are good and comes with an au jus, it is a bit greasy. Chicken + Waffle fries $15.50 Same karaage chicken except uncut and comes with waffle fries. Fries are ok. Comes with good lightly spicy dipping sauce. Note: Ordering via online theres a $2 service charge. Street parking close by. Though you can likely just stop and pick it up.

The most thoughtful bento boxes in the city. Its like cool Asian-mom-style cooking! The whitefish bento is my go-to and my fave way to eat more veggies. Always get extra kimchi.

My colleague and I just had our first experience with Hawk & Chick. Food was pretty good! However, the man who served us was rude, blunt, and honestly not very nice to deal with at all. Not sure if it was just the day as everyone has bad days, but this will probably be the first and last time we visit this place. Hope youre experience is better than ours!

Food is good but the man who works there (owner I guess) isn t a very friendly person. Our food sat there, ready, while we waited outside. He didn t even bother telling us that it had been ready for 10 mins and let it go cold.

Of my 15 years in Toronto, I think this is my favourite take out in the city. And I get A LOT of take out. It s rare to find delicious food, at a reasonable price with good sized portions but you get all 3 here. Thank you Hawk & Chick for your consistency and deliciousness.

Hidden Gem

I ordered their fried chicken Bento today, and it was pretty good. The chicken was a tad over-fried, but the flavor was good and the dipping sauce tastes amazing. I like how they paired fried chicken with coleslaw and kimchi, an interesting and tasty combination. Definitely recommend this store if you are in the neighborhood. P.S. they dont offer dine-in, but you can definitely order something and enjoy it in the park across from Dufferin mall

Hawk and Chick is a great mom and pop resteraunt that serves Korean bentos and sandwiches. Everytime I go for lunch at Hawk and Chick, Im greeted with a warm smile! I love their fried chicken as well as their curry. Each dish is flavourful and fresh! I definitely recommend giving it a try if youre in the area!

Lockdown 4.0 is underway time to support our beloved restaurant industry. First review for the new year. I ordered the white fish Katsu Bento. I got to say everything was done so perfectly that it tastes healthy. The fry was clean and not oily. The fish was crispy and moist. The rice and the banchan were good to switch up the texture and flavour profile. The sauce they used for tartar sauce was really good as well. Highly recommend people checking out this place.

The Karaage Chicken Bento was so delicious and filling. Kimchi was properly spicy. The KFC aioli sauce was excellent with the chicken. Chicken was a little bit dry but still good. Will try their sandwiches next time!

I had the cheesy curry fries and birria style Korean beef tacos yesterday. Overall very tasty, fresh and flavourful. I will come back again to try the rest of the menu.

Amazing homestyle kimchi but really floored when I saw how empty my side order was. This was $3.50 and really only two bitefuls of kimchi. I would encourage them to top up their portions for sides as this is not a side order at all.

This place is incredibly tasty. The bentos are all fantastic. Wide variety of flavors, very fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked rice and large portion sizes. When they say hot chick sammie sandwich, they mean it. Highly recommended. Deserves staple recognition.

Its basically impossible not to try Hawk & Chick if youve ever walked past it while theyre open; the smell of the fried chicken wafting out onto the street is more powerful than my will to resist. I recently ordered their karaage chicken bento and Korean birria-style tacos for takeout and could not have better things to say. It was done earlier than estimated, for one, well-packaged, and piping hot even once Id walked home through the cold. All of the flavors in the bento (slaw, aioli, kimchi) paired perfectly and the chicken was just so dang good. This was also the first time I had had purple rice and I loved it. Somehow, the tacos were even better, though. Im from California and these were some of my favorite tacos Ive ever had! I think I could have just drank that consomme. Ill also note that, though I absolutely dont encourage anyone else to risk it the way we did, my husband has celiac and safely tried the tacos without being glutened. They dont contain gluten, but are NOT free from potential cross-contamination. Do with that information what you will. P.S. I also love that they serve bottled Brio as a drink option! Im not a big soda gal, but I do love a chinotto with some tasty fried food. 10/10 experience.

One of the best tasting, most consistent take-out experiences in the neighbourhood. I would buy their spicy mayo in a bottle if I could. Keep up the great work!

I had the fish sandwich along with some curry fries and it came out looking very unassuming - after the first bite I was blown away by the flavor. I ate with friends but I didn t say a word until I finished my food because it was so good.

Was in a sour mood this morning, and was craving some comfort food. I ve been here half a dozen times now and I ve only had good meals. Fairly priced, maybe even too low, delicious and warms your soul. Thanks for serving the people. I want to give the Hawk and Chick team all my praise, thanks.

Food has decreased in quality recently. They stopped putting spice on the chicken, stopped putting bacon bits in their dipping sauce. Also no more crab in the coleslaw. Not sure what their doing but the food is worse, seems like theyre cost cutting. measures. Might want to go back to the way you were doing things before!

Stumbled upon this place looking for a quick bite while visiting Toronto. Still find myself thinking about those Bentos long after I had to go home. Cannot recommend enough.

Great little place with a cute reference to the amazing Bobs Burgers. The food is so tasty. I like the variety of items included in the Bento. There is a nice mix of healthy and decadence that you feel both satisfied and guilt free when youre done. Their Karage is my favorite.

Loved the curry fries and the tofu stew. Affordable and delicious.

Do yourself a favor and get the birria tacos, all the other stuff is amazing as well, but the tacos are nutts

Tried the whitefish katsu and WOW it was amazing! Great value for money, and all of the flavours came together so well. The katsu was light and crispy and the tartar was so creamy with a great rich flavour.

i had the spicy pork bento box and the meat was SO tender and had the perfect level of spice. the korean birria tacos were such a treat.

Really delicious. The portions are just right, and the variety in each Bento makes for a very pleasant meal. Pricier than I would like, but alas such is downtown Toronto life.

Ive been eating here since they opened in 2018 and order at least a couple times each month. Ive tried almost everything on the menu and every order has always been consistent in quality. The bentos are delicious and the service is quick. My personal favourites are their whitefish katsu and their korokke. Always a top recommendation whenever anyone asks for great eats in Toronto.

Karaage and bibimbap are delicious

Since I didn t feel like having rice, I decided to order a few side dishes as a meal via ritual and they did not disappoint! Everything was so tasty and fresh. I would order everything I got again- spicy tofu, kimchi, stir fried eggplant, spicy fish cakes and wakame salad. Must try!

Fried chicken bento was delicious. Nice, fresh, brown rice. Creamy, spicy sauce. Took 12 mins to get ready. Ill definitely go back

Whenever Im passing through the neighbourhood (which isnt often enough), I make sure to pick up the whitefish katsu for lunch. Delicious!

Really yummy food! Love how it s fresh and portions are big. Would give a 5, but not being able to pay in person (need to have a ritual account to buy even their online website to order online leads you to ritual app) kind of was a hassle & not accessible. Also for older people who don t have a phone or don t carry credit, it s definitely not accessible. But other than good place!

Best kimchi Ive had from a store and they do Korean sesame spinach well. I like their katsu fish, their soon dooboo isnt too sodium infused and very balanced. Also I always enjoy the tofu bibim bap. For its price range, its top gear. Chef is always neutral looking though.

Easy and COVID-safe Ritual pickup with food placed at a table near the door. DELICIOUS bentos, best in the city. The whitefish katsu and chicken karaage were crispy and perfectly cooked + their sides & sauces are on point. Great kimchi and KFC sauce especially. Big portions!

Hawk & Chick is our favourite restaurant in the neighbourhood...(possibly the whole city). Every choice on the menu is fantastic, and there is such an amazing variety - you simply cannot go wrong! I have never written a review for anything before, but I feel so strongly about this place and think that everyone needs to try it.

Our family stopped by and ordered our take-out dinner from Hawk n Chick tonight. I ordered the pulled pork; my wife ordered the fried chicken, and our daughter ordered the fried fish. Overall, we were delighted with our choices. The portion was significant, and the flavor was out of this world. I even ordered some Kimchi and pickled seaweed to go as well. We are so glad Hawk n Chick has moved into our neighborhood, and now I know where I will go to grab dinner if I happen to work late.

I live near by and decided to stop by this spot for lunch. Its only take out and have a small menu but you dont need much else. The food is absolutely delicious. I had the chicken and it was plenty of chicken not just a couple of pieces. It comes with slaw, spicy kimchi, lotus root, and purple rice. I will be back and wish you guys the best in the neighbourhood!

The food is so good, I had the chicken and it was beautiful, but the best part was the variety of flavours in the box. I also really appreciated Joe s commitment to quality, and the feeling that you re almost in someone s kitchen at their home, while they re cooking for you. I love hawk and chick! The food portions are huge and perfect for the price, and they have a variety of options for everyone. I ordered the white katsu box for a total of $15.81 and it was very delicious. The fish was a bit thin but other than that everything was good! They have side dishes for sale on the side and some drinks, which are made fresh daily I assume. The kimchi is spicy and I love that! The decoration of the store is very cute and homey feeling. The customer service is great and the workers are always smiling. Would definitely come back. I d like to try the soup next. I can t wait for their menu to expand!

I am so happy they moved into the neighbourhood! We ordered the karaage and spicy pork bulgogi bento boxes, both were super delicious and nicely filling. All the different flavours compliment each other very well. Banchan was on point (the korokke was so good!!). I cant wait to try the rest of the menu!

Marvelous food, prepared freshly and quickly. We had the chicken with kfc aioli and the beef bibimbap. Both proteins were amazing: the chicken crunchy and not greasy, the beef flavourful and tender. The veggies were excellent (the kimchi was hotter than many takeout places, and also crisper.) The purple rice was chewy and delicious. We will return!

This place is such a gem. Ordered Ritual take-out as I was driving through the neighbourhood and my order was ready in 11 minutes! We got the spicy pork bento, karrage bento and a side of eomuk bokkeum fish cake salad. Portions, presentation and flavour were all *****. The aïoli for the chicken! And the bacon and caramelized onion korokke balls that come with the pork were standouts. Oh, the interior is tiny (take-out only) but lovely, with a bright mural on one side of the wall. Cant wait to go back!

Their dosirak/bento box meals are all wonderful, but you also must try their soon tofu soup. If you have had soon tofu soup somewhere else, you must try theirs. It is a completely different beast. Devour their meal/soup while its hot so you get to enjoy the best quality.

Ordered as much of the menu that we could, had a nice conversation with Joe and took the food home. We were blown away, this food has everything you need in one box. Strong recommend to get the pork, even bigger recommend to eat your vegetables. Get a couple orders of the Korokke, they are great.

So turns out Joe (owner) is in my hood. Kudos to him. The kimchee and rice alone is a taste/texture extravaganza.. very nice people doing an excellent job serving up and hopefully popularizing Korean take out. More kimchee please!
