Torisho is a famous Japanese fried chicken take out restaurant. Our franchise headquarters is located in Osaka Japan. The name Torisho “鶏笑” (laughing with chicken) meaning please eat our chicken and be happy. Torisho operations in Japan have increased to nearly 300 stores in the past 6 years. After much success in Japan, we have expanded overseas. With Locations now in Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, China and USA. We have been chosen by the “Grand Prix of Karaage Association Japan” as the “Number One Karaage”.
One of the most authentic karaage takeout places in town. Marinade, quality of chicken, and deep frying temp is spot on, resulting in juicy, crispy, tender karaage. Unfortunately they were rushing to close today and quality went down. My 1lb of tebasaki wings were all drumettes! The staff could’ve at least communicated that so I can decide if I still want it or offered something else in addition (since I also ordered momo karaage, a few extra pieces would be a nice gesture). Was really looking forward to the wings…..
Check out @bredgyeats for more delicious food pics! Momo (dark meat karaage) - Comes with edamame and cherry tomatoes. Chicken was moist and had a slight crispiness from the yam starch. Chicken was marinated nicely and batter was fragrant
My family and I have been getting Karaage chicken from here for over a year now. Their fried chicken and sides are all absolutely delicious, and this place has become one of our go-to’s! We usually get the Momo + Mune Bento boxes, which come with a miso soup, 5 pieces of Karaage, rice, a salad, vegetables such as tomatoes and edamame, their potato salad as a side, and their Tonkatsu dipping sauce. Their Karaage chicken is always super tender, moist and delicious. The miso soup and vegetables are refreshing, and their potato salad gets its own highlight: it is HANDS DOWN one of my favourite iterations of the dish I can find anywhere! We also like to get their Katsu Chicken Sandwich, which is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Their tender Katsu combined with buttery buns, lettuce and Tonkatsu sauce is so delectable. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a large infographic on the wall discussing their origins in Japan and about their company and chicken. There is no sit down area in this restaurant really, as it is purely a takeout place. They have a small waiting bench near the front. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some delicious, quality Karaage chicken in the Beaches!
Honestly, I'm not sure what makes the karaage here "award winning". Even taking into account how delivery could have affected the crispiness, it still tasted pretty ordinary. The chicken wasn't tender enough and I didn't taste any juiciness. I've definitely had better options elsewhere. While I thought the chicken sandwich was decent, the bun unfortunately looked like a mass-produced product you get from a grocery store because of its smoothness and shape. It also wasn't toasted, which could have easily elevated the taste. However the fried chicken pieces were generous and the slaw was delicious. The best item I got was the beef croquette. They didn't skimp on the beef filling and it had a deep, roast beef flavour profile. It was also fried very evenly.
Known for their award winning Japanese Kaarage. I tried the Tebaski, Nanban Chicken, Momo Kaarage, Croquettes (Beef, Corn and Cheese; Beef was my favourite), Tempura Green Beans, Potatoe Salad, Coleslaw and a variety of dipping sauces (all during one visit). Everything was amazing (Thank You Arvin for the recommendations)!! NOTE: There is no seating as this is a take-out restaurant. Right now Torisho Beach is offering FREE Ice Cream with Bento Box purchase - every FRIDAY! I tried the Black Sesame Ice Cream and loved it.
You’re missing out if you haven’t fried Torisho Beach’s food! Excellent and friendly service, and a great find from my girlfriend and will say, their food is DELICIOUS!! The photos can only do so much to make you wanna try it! And their new bowl was really really flavourful and a good balance of chicken and coleslaw-like sauce!!
I am overjoyed at the recent opening in my neighbourhood in the Beach of a branch of the Japanese fried chicken chain, Torisho. I’m obviously not the only one excited because at one stage during the afternoon there was a lineup round the block. Torisho is part of a worldwide franchise of 300 establishments. It was originally started in Osaka although this is the first one in Canada. This one is takeout. When you think of fried chicken you might think of Kentucky Fried and that would be a big mistake. Torisho sets the bar much higher and is a totally different way of preparing chicken. It’s called Karaage and it’s succulent and delicious. To my mind, it would be incorrect to think of Karaage as fast-food. I chose the Bento Box - Momo and Mune which is five mixed pieces of boneless thigh and breast of karaage chicken - white and dark meat. This comes with white rice, cabbage slaw, potato salad, edamame and miso soup. I also had the tempura green beans. The Bento is a good way of getting a sampling of everything. The word ‘karaage’ refers to a Japanese style of cooking, where bite-size pieces of the chicken have been marinated for two days in a mixture of twelve herbs. I think I detected soy sauce, ginger and possibly sake as part of the marinade. There’s definitely a tempura flavour to it. It’s then coated lightly with flour, potato or corn starch and deep fried in oil. To my mind, it beats the hell out of Colonel Sander’s secret recipe and definitely seems a more healthy alternative. It’s tender and juicy as well as ultra crispy and has both taste and texture. The owners of the restaurant are three partners headed by Kaori. She was the inspiration who worked so hard to bring the concept to Canada and what a brilliant move this has been. Way to go Kaori! I suspect this healthy alternative to fried chicken is here to stay and with hopefully more branches on the way. On the door chatting with passerbys was Alexander who was doing a brilliant job of extolling the virtues of this new restaurant. He is fired up and obviously so very proud of the new enterprise that I mistook him for an owner. What a good team they make and this is a formula of cooperation that will make them for success. I wish them all much success. Welcome to the neighbourhood.
We got the karaage chicken and the nanban special - both were great! Preference was the karaage because it was slightly crispier. All was packaged well. Best if eaten soon after you purchase for peak flavour and texture! The potatoes, rice, coleslaw and edamame were a nice addition to the box. Location looks lovely and the staff were really helpful in helping us decide what to get. Will definitely be returning!
Definitely the best karaage Ive had, and up there with some of the best chicken Ive ever had. Its much better than any karaage from the many ramen places Ive visited. This place truly puts their main focus on perfecting it, instead of treating it as a side dish. Perfectly tender, juicy, and flavorful. Really, really great stuff. I recommend the Momo (thigh) and Tabasaki (wing).
Order some chicken karaage and beef-filled croquettes. The chicken was tender and crispy on the outside. Personally, I found the croquettes are have a nice texture but under seasoned
The Katsu Sandwich was excellent! One of the overall best sandwiches Ive had in Toronto. Ill definitely be back.
Delicious! The chicken, coleslaw and potato salad were all amazing. Service was fast and friendly too
Delicious food at a great price! I got two of the $10 meals and they have so much goodness packed into them. Great value meals and highly recommend them!
Very pleased with this location and quality of food! Great menu almost changes daily!
Great chicken...tender and juicy and the breeding is light and not oily....this is not your typical fried chicken. Clean store, friendly staff ...Im imagining multiple return visits. Keep the quality up, a hidden gem for the beaches.
My first bite of the chicken sandwich literally brought tears of joy. Delicious! Potato salad, fairytale-like.
Terrific and friendly service. Delicious Chicken sandwiches (tried original and the spicy). Their croquettes were crispy and delicious. A different flavour profile when compared to the Spanish equivalent. Their Momo + Mune chicken were juicy.
Try thier marinated chicken.OMG !
Great Karage!
So good ! Will definitely go back
Berry good
Ordered this on UBER eats and it was great. A darn shame this place is so far from my place otherwise I d be a regular.
Only place that does great Japanese fried food
Still thinking about it.
Love this place! Food is perfection and consistent every time.
Really hit the spot! Chicken pieces were bigger than I expected, and the potato salad is great. Definitely will be adding to the lunch rotation.
Its a bit pricey for what you get and unfortunately it didnt come with a dipping sauce for the chicken. A little disappointed that it didnt have as much flavour as Id hoped for.
have gotten a few dinners for here. lovely service and delicious food. bento boxes are great portion sizing for price payed. super nice addition to queen st E/the beaches. always looking forward to getting more food from here in the future :)
Food was amazing and the service was really kind and helpful. We got a chicken sandwich and a Karate Bento box and both were delicious.
Really good place for Momo and Karaage. Really good place for takeout, no dine in mind you. Not too many assortments hence Id recommend try them as snacks place. Try their combos for better experience! Happy eating!
Kid-friendliness: Cant sit in but good to go for kids Food
I can t recommend Torisho enough; next level Karaage (Japanese fried chicken). I ve had the Momo, Mune, and Tebasaki and all are seriously delicious. I know you re looking at other reviewers photos right now, which probably look pretty good, but I can t stress enough that no photo will do the food justice. I m super grateful to have Torisho in the neighbourhood, you should definitely check them out.
Very reasonably priced and tasty food. Excellent staff, always very polite and helpful. Potato salad: great. Chicken: great. Coleslaw: great.
Staff very friendly, food was delicious and affordable. The Beef croquette was great and the Karage was juicy and tender. 100% coming back. A fulfilling Lunch for under 20$
Drove past a few times and wanted to try it. Chicken was ok. Sides were very ordinary and not much flavour. Quite expensive for what you get. Service was like going to Service Ontario although didnt have to wait long because they appeared to have only one other order.
You think youve had karaage chicken, until youve had it from here. Perfectly cooked, tastefully seasoned, and crispily breaded. Had the lunch special bento, and added a croquette. I was very satisfied; great value (especially for the area).
Ordered the Karaage Mini Bento Box, the meal was just ok. The chicken itself was well cooked and moist. The batter however was dry, and not very flavourful. A side of spicy mayo or similar would have helped. The rice was plain. The coleslaw and potato salad were also just ok. I may go back to try the chicken sandwich, but if I dont it wont be a great lose.
Best friend chicken around
Friendly staff and the Katsu sandwich was tasty. Good portion for the price too.
Really good Karaage and the prices are fair, too. Sadly, there is no seating available.
We usually have a good experience with Torosho but this evening was terrible. The wrong order was delivered, and then Torosho did not want to deliver our order but wanted us to come and pick it up. They eventually agreed to deliver, but after waiting more than an hour, nothing arrived. In the end, they informed us that they would refund us through Uber. So no dinner ever delivered and still waiting for the refund. Absolutely terrible service and no ownership of this being their fault. We will never order from Torosho again and we will never recommend.
Incredibly juicy karaage (fried chicken). Generous portions served with edamame beans. This is the first time Ive actually ever liked edamame. Dont know if its just better quality here or something, but it was really good! Staff was friendly and accommodating. I definitely plan on coming back.
The chicken was super juicy, and I love the tempura green beans. Overall my favorite is the Momo bento box.
Ive been following the opening in the neighbourhood and was really excited to try during their soft launch. The chicken is amazingly flavourful and moist, and theres a great assortment of sides. Staff are also super friendly and helpful :) definitely recommend trying!
Such a great welcoming decor. The food was a hit, nothing like it in the area! I recommend taking a stroll and enjoying the area after grabbing your food.
I had the chicken sandwich, it was great. Definitely an upgrade compared to Popeyes or KFC chicken. Looking forward to coming back in the future.
OISHII KARAAGE DESU KA!!! (Its tasty fried chicken) Its about time they bring a Japanese fried chicken franchise to Toronto. Im all about fried chicken. My favorite would have to be Momo (dark meat) it is juicy and full of flavour. BAM! Check out the sampler box you get a little bit of everything. Still need to try out the rest of the menu. SUBARASHI!!! GANBATTE! FIGHTING!
Got to try Torisho for the first time last week and it did not disappoint! The place was busy but the staff were extremely friendly and answered all of our questions. The inside was clean and beautifully decorated and the food was AMAZING. The karaage is a must! Incredibly juicy and tender. My favourite was the tempura green bean fries with the Japanese tartar sauce, an absolute knockout. Perfect spot to pick up a bite before you head to the beach, can t wait to try out the rest of the menu :)
Many great things to say! The food is great and comes in generous portions. The karaage is really juicy and seasoned just right. With the bento boxes, you get a good selection of side dishes. The staff were very friendly and service was quick. Definitely will be coming back soon. I also highly recommend getting the tempura green beans!
Fresh take on fried chicken and momos. Loved the chicken sandwich, definitely my new fav in Toronto
Tried the Momo-Mune (mix of dark and white meat Kaarage) and it was amazing! Perfect texture and flavour. I also got the tempura green beans which were a great snack, and the miso soup which was also excellent. For sure coming back the next time I m craving kaarage.
Super yummy chicken.
Wow great chicken and cute decor. The chicken tastes so authentic and the flavour is on point. Loved the friendly service! What an amazing addition to the Toronto food scene
This place? Really knows how to make karaage. Are they going to take a little longer than your average fast food chicken joint? Yeah but its worth the wait because Im looking for hot, freshly made, juicy fried chicken. Their chicken thighs are good but what I really want to talk about is the fact that they got chicken breast of all things to be just as juicy and flavourful. Not only do they manage to do all of the above but its not overcooked so it doesnt have that grainy texture when I bite into it. Special note for the tempura green beans. So good, so addictive. I can see myself easily inhaling a large serving of it in one sitting. (This may or may not have already happened...) Definitely going to come back to try their chicken sandwich and Im absolutely adding them to my food map for this area.
I ordered the bento box. A little bit of everything. And a the chicken sandwich. Let me tell you my eyes were definitely hungrier then my stomach. The chicken marination is on point. I m hooked. Staff is very friendly. Gave me an authentic Japanese experience. Definitely something I ve never tried before.
I was fortunate to get into this place during their soft opening, and it did not disappoint. Their chicken sandwich was incredibly flavourful and almost had a nice sweetness to it. Their potato salad was equally as flavourful. I will definitely be going back here. A great addition to the neighbourhood! So glad they are right across the street from my office.
Got the Jazz Fest special, really good value at only $10. The food was great and the staff was friendly. It s take out only, but nice to take down to enjoy by the water.
The food is outstanding, my favourite is their chicken katsu sandwich, the chicken is always moist and rich with flavour. I noticed a one star review and clearly the lady was very malicious and rude right off the bat to the people as i i was in the restaurant when she came in, she doesn t know what she is talking about or knows nothing about the buisness (i work beside them) anyways i love the food and the staff are super friendly. Please note that they don t except cash. But i will definitely be coming in whenever im working as it s quiet filling too. The owners/partners are extremely friendly and kind and i think they will do phenomenal here in the beaches, they bring in a lot of people to a dead part of the beaches and i think with their location here it will also help boost the amount of foot traffic in the area and that will help out the other businesses here as well.
Was here for their grand opening and the picked up the Karaage for 6. The chicken was absolutely amazing. Torisho really does it differently. Also, one of the owners, who is actually partnered with another Japanese lady; was outside chatting with other customers. I thought this was a really nice way to introduce themselves to the community. They and and their entire team of staff was really friendly and left a lasting impression. Definitely found a new go-to spot for Japanese fried chicken.
As a karaage fanatic whos eaten at dozens of places in Japan, I found the karaage at Torisho to be good. I had the bento box and to be honest, it was the type of bento I would expect at a convenience store in Japan. Which is not a bad thing because Japanese convenience stores ( ) are quite good. Of course this is Canada so for now, Id say that Torisho is probably among the best in Toronto. Worth trying for sure.
Insanely good chicken Katsu sandwich. I ll be back for the karaage!
So good definitely one of the best fried chicken joints in the city
Absolutely new and delicious Fried chicken , Very popular restaurant chain in Japan, very clean and original, A must try..
chicken was delicious
My daughter and I love the chicken. Chicken burger was awesome and tasteful. We re hoping for a Markham location to open up soon.
Great portions and such juicy karaage! The store front is so cute too, especially the feature wall! Only take-out, but you can picnic out by the park just minutes away!
Excellent food and service! Chicken is crispy without being dry and is served with great variety of sides. Will be going back for more!
The Chicken Nanban taste alright, but if you are looking for crispy texture, get the Karaage instead The portion is small for the price. They have a Jazz Festival special menu for 10 dollars until July31, so take advantage of it while you can The service is pleasant
I walked in and i think they were just opening up. The monitors weren t even on. A line up quickly formed. I had three jazz fest specials and a chicken sandwich. The value for the money was there ($10). Two edamames is kinda on the skimp side. The karage had no mayo dipping sauce. All good until one piece of chicken felt and smelled slightly uncooked. The other two in my party had no issues. But ya i did if you know what I mean. I felt there were rushing and may have under cooked my one piece by accident because of the line. I only write this review because anytime I ve ever forced sick i write. I shouldn t have to pay the price for your mistake. Food hygiene is paramount. I m sure you take it seriously. This isn t an attack. I wish them the best. I still reco to go to this place. Hence my 4/5 stars.
Its been a while since I had Japanese Karaage I like it because its so close taste to mothers Karaage Id be happy to see a convenience store s Karaage Kun to their menu
Got a large order of chicken pieces (white and dark meat), taste is okay but very greasy. I m sure others will like it, it s not for me.
Parking: Difficult Wheelchair accessibility: Up stairs
I know its my fault for not noticing the special out front but the staff at the front never mentioned anything to us. The karaage was alright, the plum sauce was a nice touch. In my opinion the if youre here for karaage, Id look else where.
Probably the best Japanese fried chicken & potato salad Ive had in Toronto. Limited menu, but thats a good thing - though I would pay for fries if they sold them. Front-end staff appeared to be working out growing pains as theyre pretty popular for a new place, but Im sure theyll get used to it.
Took an hour on TTC to get here just to try this new restaurant. Its a takeout place that does Japanese fried chicken. Ordered tebasaki (wings) and an assorted box that was on special. Was initially excited to try a restaurant that came all the way from Japan to show us how to properly do their fried chicken. Turns out the local competitors here, izakaya and ramen shops alike, are doing a decent job at a lower price. These guys will need to come up with something more innovative to pull ahead. Good luck.
Only had time for a quick sandwich. It was tasty! Will try the Bento box next time.
Great food! Ive been ordering your food thru uberEats but it disappeared recently from the app! What happened?
The food is very delicious and the price is reasonable. The staff is very friendly. Will definitely come back!
Awesome spot for Chicken Karaage! Great taste, and both white and dark meat was super juicy. Its quite a ways away but will definitely be back.
It tastes okay. And its clean
Delicious even with delivery it travelled well. Juicy and fresh chicken
This is amazing chicken!!! The lemon pepper spiced wings are exceptional. We are hooked. And the potato croquets are fantastic. Service is prompt and very friendly! So glad to have found an amazing new chicken spot!!
Made to order karaage that was tender and juicy with piping hot croquettes. A combination you cant go wrong with! Will visit again!
Best part of the meal for me was definitely the chicken wings which were crunchy and tasted great, though I wish they were bigger. The corn croquettes were also nicely seasoned. The karaage itself was not bad but could really benefit from being more crisper and the chicken burger is honestly a pass for me as the pickles kind of overwhelmed most of the flavor.
The front staff here is amazing! They give me Japanese BBQ dipping sauce for free to try out and it was amazing... I payed a visit on Sunday and it was one of the best restaurant experience I have had in years. The place serves the best Karaage Chicken in town. A must visit!
It was more delicious than I expected~ Plenty of Japanese flavor
Good fried chicken, sides and unique flavour. Give it a try.
The crisp alone is so memorable. The karaage here stands out from the countless other places across Toronto. Meat pieces are big and succulent, batter is light and very crispy. Heads up, every fried item could use more seasoning but maybe thats intentional. Would recommend getting a side of sauce as well. Chicken sandwich was also great, would be nice if the bun was toasted but not a deal breaker. Great food nonetheless Definitely going to try this again
The food is good, nothing extraordinary. They currently have the 10 dollar boxes that s they had when they first opened so we tried it but would definitely not try it at full price. Glad they have the boxes back. I would say the rice was pretty dry, because it doesn t seem to be that busy I would recommend them doing smaller batches of rice so that it s more fresh when customers get it.
Torisho is SUCH a great take out place. Their $10 mini bento boxes are an amazing bargain - especially by todays standards. You get a really decent amount of food, and the food is delicious and the ingredients are high quality. I cannot recommend this place enough, and I am really excited to try more things on their menu!
This place is awesome. Really tasty momo Karaage. So nice that the Beach is getting more quality food joints like thissss. So yum
