Welcome to Isaan Der. Isaan, pronounced (esan) is one of the largest regions in Northeastern Thailand comprised of 20 different provinces. Come and visit us and see how we are a 'different' Thai restaurant. Most of our dishes are made just for you. Like it spicy or mild , the choice is yours. We use the freshest of ingredients in all of our dishes. We have a NO reservations policy but larger groups (5+ people) are highly encouraged to give us a call beforehand so we know you are coming and will do our very best and try to accommodate you.
The service was amazing. The food portions were generous and enough for two people to share. The food was flavourful. We ordered pad sew yea with tofu and it was amazing. Food was out in less than 20 mins. Would come again.
What a great place. It was so packed but they had room on the patio. Was not expecting the crazy good presentation of everything. The taste was phenomenal. You have to try it. And something I don't usually comment on: their bathrooms are aspirational! Even a bidet hose lol. Bring those here you want to impress.
Attentive staff and authentic Thai food are central to this establishment. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and very tasty. The crispy pork in the Tom Yum Pad Thai with crispy pork was a standout for me and my wife loved the mango sticky rice. The Thai iced tea is also something I would highly recommend. The service was excellent as well, including recommendations given by the waitstaff. This Isaan Der location is a must try if you are in the High Park/junction area.
A very cute little restaurant + bar in the junction. Very kind and courteous staff, and pad see ew was great! Came here with a friend an hour before closing. We ordered the chicken skewers ($15), pad see ew ($20) and the pad kee mao (drunken noodles, $20). They make their noodles in house, and the noodle dishes were very tasty. I think in terms of value and taste, it's decent. The thing that stood out the most was the service. The two waiters/waitresses were very kind to us, explaining the menu items and giving us free peanut sauce and chili which would have costed money otherwise! I'd highly recommend coming here if you're ever in the area and you're craving some Thai food.
One of the most authentic and flavourful Thai restaurants in the city. I came back from Thailand a few months ago and the food here is surprisingly exactly how it tasted in Thailand. Amazing and friendly staff (especially Prim!), family run and highly recommend to anyone looking for something special at an affordable price.
Isaan Der is at the junction area on Dundas St W. The restaurant is pretty easy to find and is easily accessible via the ttc. I went on a Sunday around 3pm without a reservation, the restaurant was full of people but there were still some open seating. Ordering: there are 2 different menus (food menu, and drink menu) given to you when you sit down, as well as a picture of the monthly special. Cost: I paid $65 not including tax for my meal. I got the lamb shank curry ($28), starter platter ($24)*, and a Isaan Iced Tea ($13). I went with a friend and the starter platters full price was charged to both of us (instead of being split). So if you do go to Isaan Der please double check your bill and your friend's bill before paying. I had originally thought that the waitress had given me the starter to pay for instead of my friend (which was fine) but once conferring after leaving the restaurant we realized we both were charged for the full price of the starter. As we both did not get receipts and had already gotten on the TTC we decided not to go contend the cost back at the restaurant. Wait Time: Really slow, about 45mins - 1 hour to get food. There was one chef working that Sunday so the wait time was really long to get drinks and food. The starter platter was alright, the best tasting item on it in my opinion was the thai fishcakes. The fishcakes were juicy, served hot and had a great crunch to them with the breading fried just right. The calamari was tasty as well, it was breaded and served hot. The other starter items were just okay. I got the lamb shank curry and was pretty disappointed in it. I had requested it to be spicy. The spice was not really there it felt like it might've been medium or mild spice level. The lamb shank itself had a mild taste and was not fall off the bone. It was kind of tough in some places but soft in others. The curry had a mild taste as well. I didn't really think it complemented the lamb at all. The vegetables in the lamb shank were really tough to chew and not soft at all. It felt like the vegetables needed to be cooked longer. The jasmine rice was cooked really well, but I found it didn't really fit the meal texturally (hard vegetables, and soft and hard pieces of lamb shank, and soft rice). The drink was aesthetically pleasing and had a very refreshing taste. It did get watery really quickly so if you do get it be sure to drink it quickly. Overall: the seating area is alright, and the colours and atmosphere of the restaurant are great. The food was pretty hit or miss which is surprising given all the high reviews. Also please double check the bill with your friends if you are splitting starters.
Really good Thai food with healthy portions, kind staff, and a good atmosphere. It's a restaurant that I'd recommend to anyone and the owner is a very sweet lady! If you're unsure of which Thai spots to hit up in the Junction (there are a lot of amazing ones) give this place a shot you won't regret it. Also the dragon fruit mocktail is really good.
Incredibly authentic Thai food- felt like I was back in Thailand with the fresh ingredients and perfectly complex flavour profiles. The basa fish was cooked perfectly and the portion was HUGE! We also had the spring rolls, grilled ribs, papaya salad, pad see ew (we ordered the fresh chili peppers on the side so we could control how spicy it was) and don’t forget to order the mango sticky rice which was delectable!! Can’t wait to come back.
Every dish my friends and I have had here over the years is incredible.
Waiting more than 20 mins to be ready! I ve ordered 1 hour ago! Terrible
Lamb curry was okay but the pad kee mao was tasteless. There is NO flavor in it. Considering how pricy this place is, very disappointed. Do not recommend this place to anyone.
Got takeout from here and, while the food was good, it was overpriced and they screwed up our order (giving us fried rice instead of pad thai). I will not be going back after such a grievous error. FOLLOWUP: I emailed the restaurant last Thursday as per their request, and have yet to hear back from their investigations. Looking around at some of the other negative reviews, I now sense that this is their tactic: take the conversation off Google reviews, where no one else can see it, and not have to deal with it all. Has anyone else that has been asked to email them directly with their concerns actually heard back from the restaurant?
Fantastic spot! Fresh ingredients, great flavors and excellent presentation. Tried several things off the menu - calamari was fantastic and so was the volcano ribs.
Amazing food and friendly service. We ordered Red Curry with chicken and Lamb Shank Matsaman alongside a shared Thai iced tea. I would highly suggest the Lamb Matsaman as it was falling off the bone and so delicious with the peanuty sauce. Will definitely go back!
Was going to give a 5 but dropping it to 2 rating. We came for first time to this restaurant few weeks ago, and we really liked it. The food tasted really authentic, all flavours were right on track from our Thai food experiences and expectations. So, decided to come back tonight again. We were excited to return to this restaurant for our 2nd visit, I wanted to have a good experience again. Nothing wrong with the food. Drinks came in timely manner, so did the food. However, we finished our meals, I was still a good 10 minutes from finishing my tea and good conversation with my husband, when we were asked if we wanted the bill in a somewhat rushing manner. Bill was paid. I was still not finished with my tea. We were then asked by two different servers are you done are you leaving? There are two customers at the bar waiting for table while I am speaking to my husband. We responded nicely we will leave and got up. As my husband was just starting to put his coats on, a third serve comes and starts cleaning and moving glasses of the table giving him no space or chance to put his coat on calmly. I am very disappointed at this kind of service , and tonights experience completely ruined the good feelings I had about the food and this restaurant. Although the food deserves 5 stars the whole experience has brought down the rating to 2 stars. Suggestion: on busy nights. Tell people that they only have the table for X amount of time.
Lovely spot, friendly staff and food is brilliant.
The third and final stop of our mini tour of Thai restaurants brought us to Isaan Der in Torontos Junction neighbourhood, where Chef Ko took care of us personally. She is one of my favourite chefs and her food is outstandingly delicious! I just love her! Isaan Der has also been awarded the Thai Select Classic designation by the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government, certifying the food has been prepared with authentic ingredients in the traditional Thai style of cooking. In a nutshell, you gotta be damn good to accomplish this! We started with an appetizer platter that included Chef Kos signature Golden Bags, Calamari, Mango Salad, Thong Pong Grob, Ma Hor, and Thai Shrimp Cakes. Each item was beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious! Great start! Our next dish was Soft Shelled Crab. I cant tell you how good this dish was. Words dont exist to describe how delicious it was! That was soon followed by Red Curry Duck, another absolutely delicious dish that included lychee and grapes. I love duck so this was an OMG dish! We had two seafood dishes, one with rice and the other with noodles. I had to be careful with these dishes due to a (mild) shellfish allergy. I did taste them and wished I could have eaten more. They were so good! A dish of Morning Glory, aka Water Spinach was the perfect complement to this meal. Its one of my favourite Asian vegetables and Chef Kos version is excellent! For dessert, we had their house-made Coconut Ice Cream, with fruits, flower petals, and corn, all served in a coconut shell. It was a truly delicious finish to an outstanding meal and a great day of feasting on superb Thai cuisine! Our meal was accompanied by some great tasting cocktails that really hit the spot. Wonderful! ------------------------------ 2020 I love Thai food and this is definitely some of the best that Ive had! Chef Kos passion for food definitely translates to every dish she produces! She is not only a great chef, but a genuinely nice person. Ive had the pleasure of eating her food and conversing with her a few times now.
We love this place
Had this place on my list for a long time and finally got the chance to visit. I can t comment on whether a giant beef rib which is what I ate is authentic Thai or not so I will speak to the cook. It needs much more time slow cooking because it is not tender and fall off the bone enough. Sweet potato was also under. The flavour was good though. Great decor , more upscale compared to traditional Thai places I have been to in the city. Exceptionally clean and wonderful staff.
Long wait more than 1 hour
Everything was really delicious and filling! Spring rolls 8.5/10 thai short ribs 6/10 Tom Kha soup w shrimp 10/10 Service 10/10 truly excellent. Would eat here again :)
This is my favourite Thai restaurant in the city! Their pad see ew with beef is my go-to, but would definitely recommend the pad thai and scallop appetizer. Drinks are amazing too!! Staff are very sweet and attentive every time
Amazing food and good service, decent prices
Went for lunch as a recommendation and it was delicious. Had the pad see ew, spring rolls and peanut sauce (one of the best Ive ever had) , and khao soi with a Tom yum Margarita.
I did order over the phone. Order was late but they apologized and i did make use of the time by having a singha beer at the bar. The beer was amazing. Shrimps fresh rolls were good, although 2 shrimps per roll is not enough, would put 3 shrimps per roll. Ingredients were fresh. The cashew chicken wasnt good, chicken pieces are overcooked and hard to chew. Almost no cashews and the few ones were not crunchy. I was disappointed with this plate.
Does anyone be charged of 15% food and beverage? I had no idea that the tax was increased from 13% to 15% in this restaurant. The total is $294.50 and total tax is $45.18 with automatic 18% tips $53.01. I did not realize that the tax was 15% until got home and split bills with friends.
Excellent Thai food bursting with flavor. I have eaten in and regularly get take out here
The best Issan somtum!!!!
As someone who has grown up in Thailand, this place reminded me of childhood memories. Delicious food, impeccable vibes and very authentic. Elle took great care of us and made amazing cocktails!!! The chef was also super sweet and made the time to talk to us. Don t miss out on this gem of a restaurant!
Best pad see ew in the area! Love this Thai restaurant, it is our go to place for a delicious meal. The chef comes to talk to the guests and shares her stories. She makes home made ice cream for the Thai ambassador who visits the restaurant every Labour Day weekend.
Good spot. Nice people. Good Food.
I consider Isaan Der my go-to restaurant for ordering take-out and dining in at the Junction. When friends and family have visited, Isaan Der has been our obvious choice for where to take them. Since moving to this neighborhood a few years ago, I can confidently say that the food has been consistently great and has not disappointed. The service is very welcoming and friendly. There have been recent upgrades to the interior design of the restaurant, which look lovely (but I also liked the previous look). I would highly recommend Isaan Der. My personal favourite dishes to order are the khao soi, massaman curry, and papaya salad. But, you really cant go wrong with anything.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of North America, so when I came back to Toronto after 2 years of living abroad it was one of the first places that I visited. Great food, great service, and great vibe. The Pad Gra Pao is life changing.
Nothing special. Everything is almost in soup style. Clean food. But nothing special in their taste or quality.
This place is absolutely amazing. Best Thai food in the city. Definitely recommend the beef khao soi! The beef is so tender and practically melts in your mouth
Couldnt recommend this place more highly. Service was great and very fast. The tom kha was amazing. All of the ingredients of the soup were so fresh, and the broth was delicious. Loved the lamb shank massaman curry as well. It has wonderful flavor, no gaminess to the lamb whatsoever, and a delightful gravy with just the right balance of tamarind, peanut, and spice. Also recommend the Thai iced tea.
Really great food! For an appetizer, I highly recommend trying their version of pani puri - cant seem to find it on the online menu but it was available at the Dundas St location.
Loved the food! Was there to visit my art project with Toronto Junction :Window Wonderland with friends and family and we all dropped in to eat-Ishaan Der is a sponsor of the project. The food was good and the staff were very courteous. We did not have a reservation but they still accommodated us, even though we were a party of seven. The restaurant is not very big, so it did feel a bit cramped, and like most restaurants the lighting is dim, which I am not to fond of.
My father and I got the pad thai and fried rice. It was nicely seasoned and very tasty. Great and friendly staff as well.
Extremely disappointed. Refused to sit two people when there were tables/bar available because it was busy and the booth is for 3 people or more. Never going back and will tell everyone we know about this.
The staff are friendly and the food is amazing. I ll definitely comeback!!
The mango sticky rice was the reason I came to this restaurant, and it was okay to good. I think some of the rice wasn t as soft as it should ve been, but the flavour was still there.
Ordered a pad si ew to go with medium spicy, it had no flavor and the ingredients were not fresh. Visited the restaurant first time and probably the last time.
So I ve been coming to this place for the last 3 years. Such great food, so flavourful so consistent. Isaander always surprises you with great menu changes and recommendations. Although today the server that was serving us asked us to pay the bill in between of the meal because she wanted to sit on the next table and eat her staff meal and chat with another staff member. She also said she is gonna leave but didn t. This behaviour felt very unprofessional and rude. She could have asked her fellow team mates to take care of the table. Cheers to Great food that isaander serves.
Nicest server in town, ample food count!A little pricy, but worth it!
The food was amazing, will definitely come back. Big thanks to Elle for her amazing service
The food is delicious, my favorite place to go when Im in Toronto
I order pad thai with chicken and added shrimp for an extra $4.50 on uber eats (total $26.50). The pad thai is way too sweet. Ive had it many times in Thailand (north and south), and its never that sweet. Its a great shame, because this pad thai would taste pretty authentic if they simply removed all sweet ingredients. Also, the shrimp were well undercooked, and the noodles arrived mushy. And yes, I have had pad thai packed for take out and delivery many many times, including in thailand, including eating it completely cold hours later. I also ordered a crab fried rice. Its pretty good, but the crab meat has soft crab bones . If they could use a better crab meat (ie. Lump crab), it would be excellent - perhaps comparable to the famous Bangkok crab fried rice vendor who has been Michelin rated (yes I tried it, ordered with app delivery to avoid lines and not expensive).
The pad see ew is amazing!!! Green curry is also very tasty too. Ambience and service great. Pricing is on the higher end but it s worth it!
Today I ordered pad Thai from this restaurant via Uber Eats. While the flavor was good, I was disappointed to find a piece of steel wool at the bottom of the container. Not cool.
Isaan Der is not only the best Thai food in the city, but goes above and beyond for their customers. When there was a miscommunication about dietary restrictions, they re-made three dishes for me in record time, and personally got into their car and hand-delivered it to my home. The staff is friendly, the food is incredible and if you haven t tried it yet, you are missing out!
I ordered fried rice, green curry and mango Salad Very average! Generous portions but not quality ingredients. Kind server There were also two servings of hair in my salad! I will not go back.
We ordered the short ribs and pad see ew. The meat in both dishes were very tough to chew and had no flavour we were told the meat was cooked fresh but we could tell it was old and reheated. Pad see ew also lacked aroma and flavour. It was definitely not worth $50. Food
All food on the sweet side. Service is good.
Had the lamb shank massaman curry, and the tom yum pad Thai with shrimp. Both tasted great, unfortunately the noodles for the pad Thai were at least 2-3 days old so it was prone to breaking into pieces. Rice noodles should hold its form when fresh. Brought it up to the server, he said Im not sure. Also ordered Thai milk tea but was forgotten. The interior design of the place looks great.
Every time I ve dined here, the food has been phenomenal. We order takeout and dine here frequently. The panang curry and pad se ew are delicious!
Ive visited Toronto for a quick traveling, some how I stumbled upon this amazing Thai restaurant that blew my mind! Im from Thailand myself, but honestly, this place beats some of the spots back home! I gotta rave about their Pad Thai with Soft-shell Crab it was out of this world! The flavors were so spot-on. Im already planning to hit up this place again before I head back home next week. If youre ever in Toronto and craving some authentic Thai food that feels like a warm hug from home, youve gotta check out Issander. Trust me, you wont regret it!
tasty vegan options!! pad thai & pad see ew are my favourites
the food is fantastic! definitely come back to try the rest. Food
Ordered beef pad si ew for dinner and mango stick rice for dessert. the food all tasty and authentic
Worst service ever, they keep you waiting forever
I ve tried many Thai places in the city and Isaan Der is hands down the best, especially for vegetarian Thai dishes. They infuse flavour at every level of the dish, it s fresh, balanced and I can t keep away! Vegetarian options: Offers vegan oyster sauce for veggie dishes and omitting eggs for vegans
Exquisite flavour! Amazing food! Outstanding service!
We went to almost closing time. Staffs are still friendly and food was nice :) Only reason I gave 1 less star was that Original Pad Thai noddle was run out and I had to have thick noodle instead of thin one.
Good is ALWAYS excellent.
Isaan Der is my favorite restaurant in the city! I lived in Thailand for two years and I can safely say this is the real deal. As always, great atmosphere and kind staff. We had dinner there last Saturday night. The bartender made me a beautiful cocktail, the passion fruit mojito. Both bartender and server recommended the Golden bags as an appetizer. Absolutely delicious! Entrees consisted of Beef Panang and the Chicken Stir fry which were exceptionally good. Amazing flavours, authentic Thai food! Thank you Isaan Der for a wonderful dinner again!!
We ordered the beef khao soi and the green curry. Both entrees had large filling portions! The green curry came with loads of bamboo shoots (my favorite). We got medium spice and it had the right amount of kick. If you want to get mild, then they will skip all peppers altogether. Great customer service. Delicious food. Good ambiance although somewhat a casual feel.
So sad that I didnt have pictures of my food, everything was so good. My husband and me share 2 dishes a reen curry that he ask spic, and really was very spicy but delicious and I have noddles with crab mushroom that was my favorite. Service very good the food arrive fast and the waitress was very nice with us. I pin this spot to come back and try more of the items. Vegetarian options: You can choose your protein so if you dont want meat, you can have the mayority of the dishes just with vegetables Dietary restrictions: I have a shrimp alergy and the waitress very kindly explain Wich dishes contain shrimp paste
Service was incredible and staff were extremely friendly and kind. Vegetarian options: So many options for vegetarians. Kid-friendliness: Engaged with the kids!
Ordered tofu curry on Uber eats and received a shrimp curry. Additionally, I specified vegan multiple times on the order and they still messed this up which is incredibly disappointing
Ive been coming to this place for years and always loved it, but the last time I ordered delivery wasnt good. So unfortunate. The pad thai was only half full, no peanuts, no sauce for the spring rolls, no napkins. There was grease spilled all over everything, and the spring rolls were dripping with it. Worst of all, the food made us sick. I hate writing bad reviews, but this was messed up.
My 2 years old had the shrimp pad Thai and she inhaled it. I had the spicy pad grapao with beef and a fried egg on jasmine rice and wife ordered some shrimp rolls as starters. Absolutely delicious and fresh! We have not tried the drinks, maybe next time when we come without the little one. Definitely a treat for Asian food lovers! We ll be back.
The Best in town, 7 STARS production!!! Vegetarian options: good selection Parking: lots of parking Kid-friendliness: decoration Wheelchair accessibility: ram for wheelchair
Excellent food
Best Thai food by far and always consistent. Highly recommended!
We used to love Isaan Der (Junction), but lately, things have declined. Dont know what is going on with food quality and customer service across this decaying city. The last three pad thai take out orders have been meh. We clearly and explicity request lime and peanuts to be included and the staff dont include it. Nor do they mark the containers mild or medium, etc., so its a guessing game when we get the food home -- poor listening skills. And the advertised phone number is not accepting calls. So disappointing. Time for us to find a new Thai food place.
I just had lunch with my cousin here today. The food and service was fantastic. The decor is modern, yet cozy, and you can opt for a private booth or a table by the window. I had been meaning to try this place for a while, because they are very active in the Junction community. My cousin and I appreciated the ground-level bathrooms, which are rare in Toronto.
Really great Thai food and delicious cocktails. Highly recommend the lamb massaman curry and the soft shell crab pad thai. Cant wait to go back and try more dishes!
Delicious, authentic Thai food with soul. Having grown up in Thailand, I know a thing or two about Thai food. Plus, the owner/chef is very friendly and kind. Highly recommended. We ll be back! : Pad Thai with Shrimp, Massman Curry with Lamb, and Bua Loi with Taro for dessert
Ive had an excellent experience at Isaan Der. Ive been to Thailand a few times, and this place is definitely one of the best Thai food with quality local ingredients Ive tasted. We ll definitely be back!
Love it
I had a great experience enjoying delicious, soft-textured Thai food and delightful desserts. Perfect for those craving authentic Thai cuisine.
Yummy food! As always!
Ordered Pad Gra Pao buy 1 get 1 through Uber eats. The container was filled with rice with little to no meat. It looked like they split one portion of the meat into two containers and called it buy 1 get 1. It was not worth spending $30 dollars on.
Update: still excellent as we remembered. The restaurant has absolutely changed. The bar is at the front and the benches have storage underneath which is pretty cool. Got the pad see ew and pad thai (omg the softshell crab pad Thai was delicious)! Service was excellent and we were left full. Cant wait to come back Always an excellent experience coming here. The place is organized and the staff are friendly. My sister and I would start off with their calamari, so crispy and the squid is so soft with a slight chew. I would get the chicken pad grapow and she would get the shrimp pad thai. So worth it to come here every time.
The initial dish I ordered tasted great. The second time around, the dishes didnt taste appealing and it was really salty. The fried rice and the pad see ew left a lot to be desired. Maybe it was an off day. Hope they work on being consistent with the taste.
went for dinner last night . had the beef pad see ew , spring rolls and calamari . the food was great and great service too . the music was a bit loud and annoying , but other than that it was great . will definitely be back for more .
Absolutely disgusting! I am a huge fan of Thai cuisine and this does not even deserve 1 star. I ordered a Pad Thai and a papaya salad. The Pad Thai is soggy, noodles overcooked and tasteless. I paid $42! I wish I could go back now and return it but I have a small child I need to take care of. Really horrible food. I should add that the Papaya Salad also has no flavor. It s just sour and salty, that s it. Maybe other dishes are better but it is beyond me how you can screw up a Pad Thai so badly and charge $42!
Very rich
Great looking host
Amazing resto Great service Amazing food Food : 5/5
I was shocked for paying $28 for a shrimp pad thai and was even more shocked when received the order. Was waiting for 25 mins for the order and was so disappointed that it s tasteless, the noodles was overcooked, shrimps were overcooked. I couldn t even finish that tiny portion. $28 for that size of portion and quality is a scam!! Never come back.
Amazing Thai food for both take-out or dine in. Vegetarian options: Lots of selection. Dietary restrictions: They are very accommodating and diligent with dietary requests. Kid-friendliness: Food is very kid friendly.
Pad Thai from Isaan Der was really good! The taste was truly authentic.
I love the place!
Excellent food! Portions were great, flavours were incredible, and staff were very friendly. I would absolutely recommend this spot and I plan on returning many times.
Food was delicious. Would go again
Delicious thai food
Food was amazing!
Great food and friendly service. I ordered the green curry with sticky rice and fish. Nothing to write home about, but certainly one of the better Thai restaurants in the junction.
So yummy!
Had pad see ew with beef, pad thai with chicken and a pineapple mango margarita, food was amazing and more than enough for two people
Can t get much better Thai food in the city. Sometimes the get backed up with the number of orders but the food is always worth the wait.
Everything is great here
Such good regional Thai food. My favourite is the Massaman Curry with beef. The Pad Thai is also very good. Love eating in, or taking out! Food
Lovely little Thai restaurant; Very friendly staff and decent food.
Some of the best Thai food I ve ever had ! Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options and vegan :)
Stopped here randomly 3 months ago while waiting for a show to start nearby and damn I ve been obsessed ever since. I usually order food I m familiar with and I m glad I did. I got the Green Thai curry with vegetables and I am literally obsessed. The flavour perfectly balanced and the veggies still had a hearty crunch. The portions are a little on the larger side so would be enough if you re a little extra hungry. The restaurant is a little small so be mindful that you may need to wait to be seated. I ve been here 4 times since my first visit and will bring a few friends each time. Highly recommended!
Honestly I was blown away by the presentation, atmosphere and vibe furthermore it was my first time eating Thai cuisine and the service or died from the servers is top notch and on point. Will definitely be coming here again absolutely amazing
Great authentic Thai. Super friendly service.
Huge portions of Yummy food , super friendly staff, would definitely recommend
Shrimp Pad Thai and Khao Bao are at a level of their own. The creamy, hearty and rich curry of the Khao Bao goes perfectly with the fried noodles. Love them. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Can t wait for them to open their lovely patio during the summer. The only thing that s better than delicious Thai food is Thai food in a patio with a cold one. Thanks to the Isaander team and to our host Ben.
Everything we tried here has been amazing so far but my favourite is the Thai iced coffee and Khao soi. It s the best I ve had. The service was great. Portions are big. I can t wait to come back.
Excellent food! Must try!
The food is always great here! I miss the midtown location but this one is great too. The panang curry never disappoints!
Amazing food, best service by a few miles, best Thai food in the area for sure. Our server was named Thai and he was impeccable. We will return many times!
By far the best Thai food in the area. Everything is delicious, we love the fresh noodles in the pad see ew, the yummy curry broth in the khao and the crispy spring rolls, but but the massman curry is beyond! The beef is so soft and tender that it practically melts in your mouth. If you haven t tried them out- I recommend it!
This is the best Thai restaurant I have been to since I came to Toronto. Very authentic Thai food with a lot of very meticulous combinations of ingredients (especially the herbs). The service here is also one of the best! All the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and passionate. Thai (Justin) is a very talented chef and knows very well about what ingredients go well with others. Do ask him for recommendation and you will discover lots of surprises.
It s very sweet of talented Chef Thai to provide the best service and food we have ever had in Toronto! He knows his customers very well and remembers our preferences. We have our all-time favourites here - Thai milk tea, massaman curry with lamb shanks or fish, pad thai with shrimps and red curry duck, pad si ew, and more as everything is great! The staff are familiar with our tastes and styles too. The food here is very different from other thai restaurants. I think the point is they cook and serve with love and gratitude.
Some of the best Thai I ve ever had. The pad thai is fantastic as are their spring rolls, pineapple fried rice and Pad Se Ew.
I ve had a lot of Thai food, and this place is BY FAR my favourite in the city! Ever dish is delicious and full of flavour. I d highly recommend the Khao Soi
Delicious! Top shelf food and awesome service. Great experience
I love the khao soi!!! Kao soi
We love this place! Every dish is divine!
Great food. I like the restaurant design. Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai are delicious.
Got the cashew chicken delivered, was extremely dry had no sauce for the rice to absorb it.. I was afraid this would happen so I asked for extra sauce in the instructions and they did the opposite lol. Pricey for $27 too
Incredibly tasty and authentic Thai food. Coming back from Thailand I was on the hunt for a restaurant that delivered that same authenticity and I found it here at Isaan Der. Their curries are out of this world. I am not usually someone who gets fish as the protein in my curry but I am so happy I tried it and can now never order anything else. Noodle dishes also excellent. Thai iced tea also great. Truly you cant go wrong with anything you order here!!!
Delicious. Every. Single. Time. Currently open for take out only! Walk to pacific ave and go left toward no frills and then left again down the alley. The door is open! Vegetarian options: Meatless options. Delicious.
I ve only ever ordered pickup but the food is always delicious, and I love the variety of vegan options.
Always best place to have Thai food
I just drove the owner of this place to the location as an Uber driver and when she mentioned that she owns the Thai food restaurant, I said I m gonna eat in your restaurant now because I was gonna take a break and eat anyways. She called her son to make a food before we got there and despite the fact that I insisted to pay for it they didn t even charge me for it. On top of it all, I just realized I had the best Thai food I ve ever had. Thanks a lot, I ll be visiting a lot.
Ordered take out from here and was incredibly impressed by the quality of food! It was flavourful and extremely authentic.
Horrible place. We picked up food here a few times in the past and it was good but lately it s been absolutely terrible. Service is bad, they make you go into a dirty alleyway to pick up food because the front is closed for no apparent reason. The food was terrible.. no flavour, you can tell they re only interested in over charging people now. Never will return.
Lovely place to spend time with family and friends
Food was excellent! I couldnt stop eating. I did find a piece of meat in my vegetarian khao soi but otherwise, it was perfect.
While looking for a place serving Thai cuisine in the Junction neighborhood we decided to try Isaan Der and were pleasantly surprised. The Tom Kha Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup) was absolutely lip smacking, the first sip was like exactly what my soul was searching for haha, definitely must have ! Since the Soup itself was quite filling and we arent big eaters, so ordered the Pla Tod which came with Mango Salad and jasmine rice. It was a big portion of deep-fried basa fish, almost like half of a whole fish. The fish was very fresh and the crumb was crisp, salad was good too but the rice seemed a bit pointless as everything else it came with was dry, would have liked more of the salad and no rice possibly. Also, ordered two beverages and the freshly brewed hot ginger tea was refreshing, the Iced coffee was really strong, but on the sweeter side because of the condensed milk I suppose, nice if you like sweet drinks. Overall, happy with the taste and portions, price is justified and service is good. Definitely going to revisit to have more of the Tom Kha and try more options :)
I ve dined in & have done takeout from Isaan. Both great experiences. Food is amazing. Service is great. Interior is beautiful. They have patio but it is facing the street.
Good food!
Great food, great music, really nice bartender. The custom cocktail menu brings new options to the area. Just came out of a beautiful renovation. Check them out!
Subpar Thai food. Overpriced. So little meat and it was super dry. Service and vibes were great though. Would not come again.
High quality and very flavourful Thai food. Service is super friendly! No wonder it s so popular.
Been to this restaurant on many occasions, today was extra special thanks to Wan. Always smiling and ready to serve you.
This is my favourite Thai restaraunt for takeout in the city. The food is authentic and fresh. Ordered it almost weekly during the pandemic and it s pretty consistently great. I usually order the Pad Gra Pow, panang curry, and pad see eew (which many Thai restaurants don t have). All the curries are good and they come with rice. You can choose your spice level individually on each dish and which protein you d like with most of them. They have a few locations though the one at Yonge and Davisville is now sadly closed. Update: recently visited the one in the junction in-person. The renovation is great- lots of indoor and patio seating and a beautiful bar!! Vegetarian options: Almost every main can be made vegetarian! Kid-friendliness: Bright, warm spot, suitable for kids
Favourite Thai food in the city! First went to their East end location and just tried this one for the first time. Beautiful inside. Pad see ew slaps
Wanted to have some Asian food, saw their good rating and went in. I love the Thai fried rice I ordered. Spicy enough and not sweet. The shrimps are big and fresh. Love it and will defi come back in the future.
Great Thai food!! Fully recommended!
The cashew chicken has been my favourite dish for years but every time I get it now there s hardly any sauce and it s just dry. I don t know why they stopped making it how they use to. I think I m just done at this point after ordering here for years.
This is a really good neighbourhood Thai spot, their pad thai is solid! Id recommend
First time here and wow great food. We shared the fresh shrimp rolls. I had the lamb shank curry and my husband had the chicken panang curry we both had it medium spice. Mine was perfect, my husband loved his but couldn t handle the little bit of heat. Next time he will order mild I also had the Bangkok lychee fizz cocktail also very good. Highly recommend
Bomb curries and Thai iced teas
The best PadThai same like I have in Thailand fresh noodle make me cannot stop eating .Very professional restaurant
Great experience start to finish. Our server (Earth) was so lovely and helpful. Our curries were absolutely delicious. Everything was fairly priced and arrived in a timely fashion. Would recommend 100%. Eat here.
The food was fantastic! I enjoyed everything that we ordered from the menu.
The best pineapple-fried ice same I have eaten in Thailand.
Love this place! Its my go-to for authentic Thai food. I usually get the panang curry with fish, but Ive also had the Pad Kee Mao (rice noodles with veg and your choice of protein) and the Pla Tod (fried fish fillet with a side of rice) and both were excellent. The Pla Tod is a huge portion and can easily feed two. The staff are friendly and the ambience is great. Cant say enough good things about this establishment - probably the best restaurant in the junction.
The Cashew chicken was terrible. Dry and the seasoning was off. The spring roll was the only thing I enjoyed.
Isaan Der used to be one of my favorite Thai noodle places in the city. The sauces were appropriately funky and balanced and theyd dial up the heat if you ordered it Thai Spicy. However, after a bit of a hiatus, the last couple times Ive ordered Ive found the pad thai overly sweet and they seem to have stopped using fresh chilies. (At the very least, I dont see anything.) Very disappointing to see them compromise / cut corners. Dont think I will give another chance.
My first time trying this authentic Thai spot in the junction and it was incredible! Ordered take out on a Saturday night and it was really busy but totally worth it! Pineapple fried rice with shrimp pad thai and beautifully marinated chicken satay skewers were hot and fresh and had a good amount of spice! Highly recommended be prepared to wait a bit but that s a good sign to me! Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and exceptional service. Vegetarian options: Most dishes can be made without meat. Dietary restrictions: Lots on the menu and a great staff to accommodate people with restrictions.
Love the food! The server was really nice and recommended a tasty dish! Would highly recommend!
Really good Thai food that tasted like a lot of the dishes I had there. Really friendly and helpful staff, and they have high chairs for babies and toddlers.
Really delicious food and great service. They also accommodated allergies
Always wait to review a place after you have tried it a few times. This place has consistenly been great! Great customer service, great food, and always friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Three delicious dishes (panang curry, red curry, and noodles), and friendly help choosing vegetarian options. Extremely good and highly recommended.
Best Thai in town! Been coming here for years now :) Never disappoints!
The service was great and the lambshank curry was delicious!
Green curry is phenomenal, really everything we ve had has been. 10/10
I took my mom here for dinner because she tried some of the takeout my brother brought for her and loved it. She ordered the deep fried basa filet with the mango salad and a side of coconut rice. The fish is so so so tender and the panko breading is crispy and light. My go to at Isaan Der is their Massaman curry with beef and coconut rice, it is delicious! I ve tried Massaman at different Thai restaurants and I d have to say my favourite one is here. Can t forget the service! Everyone is so wonderful and attentive. I highly recommend this location! This one is the closest to me and I haven t been to the other locations, but I m sure they are great!
Went for dinner and got the Pad Kee Mao with chicken. The food tasted great. Perfect spice level and flavour. It took me back to the time I went to Thailand for vacation. Also got the Thai ice tea. Never tried it before and it was surprisingly good. Tasted like black tea bubble tea.
A nice little restaurant around Junction, standard yet flavourful Thai cuisine, with a wonderful patio seating. Guaytiaw Gaeng - very flavourful, i usually prefer going for Khao Soi, would still prefer it after trying the Guaytiaw Gaeng, ordered it with a medium spice, wasnt as spicy as expected, but a great dish overall, the curry based soup was lovely, felt like a warm spice filled hug. Portions were great, would have preferred the fried onions to be kept on top, overall 3.5/5 Calamari - as basic as it is, i loved it here, wasnt heavily breaded, infact very minimal breading yet has its slight crunch, may not be for you if you prefer a very crunchy pub style calamari 5/5 Pad Si Ew - overall a great dish, beef wasnt tough, just right in general, could have probably been more tender in my opinion, noodles were great, not too chewy and seasoned well, hot incredibly oily and the touch of like really does make it pop just like youd expect it to - 4/5 Thai Iced Tea, - refreshing little drink, milky with the refreshing aromatic spices, not too strong in either tea or spice, overall a saviour in a humid day - 4/5
Asked for a rush order because I had to leave early and they were super helpful and the food came so fast, plus it was delicious. Thanks again!
Good food and friendly staff
Great service, great food, great portion size. Authentic Thai experience. The owner was there to introduce us to the menu. Spoke about the Calamari, which was fantastic! Also the Cashew Chicken was amazing!
Great food and enjoyed sitting on the patio.
Very delicious Thai food and great value. The best Green Curry Chicken I ve had. Highly recommended.
I liked both the food and the service. Kid-friendliness: We ordered non-spicy dishes. The children ate with pleasure. The portions are large, we took half of them to take home.
Amazing restaurant for Thai food. Quality of food is off the charts and service is impeccable. Prices are extremely reasonable. Vegetarian options: Can easily accommodate vegetarian needs. Dietary restrictions: Can easily accommodate gluten free requirements
Excellent service and fantastic food!!
The service was so amazing here but the food was really sub par. Way too salty and too spicy even for mild orders.
Excellent food, very good service, affordable prices Vegetarian options: Vegan dish option
Update: From 5 to 3 stars. I went in person today (May 13) to make a pickup order and they pretended like I didnt exist, made me wait after I said hello and only spoke to the people that came in after me to pick up for Doordash and uber so I just left after waiting. Hows that for local friendly service?! Disappointed. My go to Thai place in the neighborhood! My local spot used to be the Thai place that this restaurant replaced so ever since Isaan Der open, Ive been a regular customer. Their Northern Thai dishes are made with care and if you want spicy, you can get to some pretty crazy spice levels at this place. Or stick with my old if thats your thing. Medium is the sweet spot for me personally as its a bit of a kick on a kick. Their golden bags are great starters, coconut juice to drink and a classic curry is the way I go. All of their curries are amazing and the pad see ew I prefer to the pad Thai. A few times Ive been the chef even comes out and asks how we enjoyed our meal! Really lovely keep in mind that tables are fairly close together at this restaurant so you will hear loud talkers or rowdy tables. Ticket from here is great as well and they are on Uber Eats.
Really delicious Thai food, and thoughtful and genuine service. My friend and I split spring rolls. They were excellent as was the sauce. They were spiced differently to most but were delicious and packed with ingredients. My Pad Thai was among the best - a huge portion and fresh. My friend had the lamb curry. It had a terrific sauce, but the lamb had a little chew (minus 1 star). The dishes at every table looked beautiful. We cant wait to go back.
Excellent choice for Thai food. However! If you like a little spicy, medium should be your choice. Anything above is too hot. Cheers
Super lovely Thai restaurant with delicious Thai food, the owner is super friendly as well. Definitely would come back
Amazing food! This restaurant makes the best Thai food in the city. All of their dishes taste so fresh and you feel great after eating their food. 100% would recommend.
Ordered Fresh Pad Thai, Pad Si Ew and green curry. Loved both noodles, so fresh and tasty. Best thai restaurant in Toronto West.
I would have never known about this place if it wasn t for the traffic. We were stuck in traffic hoping to find a closer place to eat instead of going to our usual restaurant in Toronto. And what we found on the way was Isaan Der. After reading the reviews we thought we should give it a shot and I m so glad we did. We got our table pretty quickly. For starters we got fresh rolls, which was a combination of different vegetable wrapped in rice paper, along with peanut sauce. It was good, if it had some meat this roll would be delicious. (Which I think it might have but I guess we didn t choose it) This is not a bad option for a vegan. For our mains we got chicken fried rice, Khao Sou, Fish Curry Panang and Lamb shank Massaman curry. I don t know which one was the best. Everything we ordered was made to perfection. Fish curry definitely was something I will order again. It was delicious, flavourful and fish was very fresh. The Fried rice with chicken was also very close to what you can try in Thailand. You can never go wrong with fried rice. Would definitely recommend getting one. Khao sou was good but it could be made better. There was nothing particularly wrong with the dish, maybe I was expecting a lot more. I still enjoyed it very much. If you guys are in Toronto make sure to visit this special place.
Toronto has no shortage of great Thai food and Isaan Der is no exception. The menu has a great selection. The food itself came quickly and was well made. The ambiance is lively and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back to try more!
INCREDIBLE THAI FOOD. Each dish is better than the one before it, Presentation is amazing, the restaurant itself is pretty small so make sure you get there early. These photos are unedited. making me hungry! Family run pride exudes from the place. Highly recommend for Thai food in Toronto. #thaifood #torontothai
Excellent easy online ordering! Food was absolutely delicious
A great spot for Thai food in the Junction! Very tasty and authentic.
Really bad service
Such lovely service and amazing food. Great vibe!
Tonight was my first time at this outstanding restaurant. I have walked and driven by it for a long time and and admired the tasteful/ artistic facade. But not until tonight, have I walked in. Upon arriving, I was greeted with the upmost professionalism and warmest of hosts. Then the food I decided to keep it simple. Phad Thai and a beer. But what Pad Thai! Sublime! So beautifully balanced. The perfect Ying to the Yang. Amazing! Thank you so much. I will be back.
The most authentic Thai food you can get! Highly recommended! Look no place else! We had the Fried Fish with Papaya Salad, it tasted just like the one in Thailand!
The place you can t miss. Just an amazing food.
There Panang fish curry is to die for, they are able to accommodate gluten free
An interesting hole in the wall restaurant with very helpful staff. They can handle garlic and fish allergies with just a little re-ordering. Good for the kitchen. It was full so it is definitely popular. Pretty good overall. And clean bathrooms to boot.
It is THE place to go for Thai. Handsdown best Thai in the city. Best service, best food. Great place for gluten free options. Cannot wait to go again.
