Contemporary kitchen turning out salads, curries & other Thai classics in a laid-back environment.
My partner and I went to Pai Uptown for a lunch date and it was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a cozy meal. The food? Simply incredibly! We started off with a Thai ice tea, which was brilliant, strongly recommend it, and a Pai Sangria, which was refreshing too. For mains, we ordered chicken khao soi and Thai green curry, both of which were packed with authentic Thai flavors. If you are in uptown Toronto and craving Thai food, Pai is a must-visit! Highly recommend for dates, occasions, or even casual dining. We'll definitely be back for more!
This is one of the best Thai restaurant in Toronto . Very nice interior and vibe . Food is amazing as well . If you are into Thai food , definitely go here . Make sure to do a reservation if you are going on weekend . This place is usually crowded . Good food options as well ; great for family parties of group parties Adding more pictures from my second visit :
Enjoyed a nice dinner with friends, and I’m pretty certain all of us liked the food and the ambience. I tried the Khao Soi and the Pad Thai along with Thai Iced Tea. We ended up with Coconut Sorbet and the Mango Coconut Mousse Cake for desserts. It was pretty busy when we went in late in the evening, so always recommended to have a reservation!
Good food, nice vibe, friendly servers. Green curry comes in a coconut - really cool! The sticky rise and coconut ice cream are amazing.
Another incredible dining experience at PAI! This was our first visit to the Uptown location and they did not disappoint. We stalled in without reservations on a Sunday and were given a fabulous seat at the bar. We were very well taken care of by our server Steve.
We decided to try this place out for a date night and felt it was a pretty decent Thai spot. It's hard to find good authentic Thai food but this place is as close as it gets. We ordered Fried Squash appetizer (forgot what it was called), Holy Basil Pork with Rice, and Coconut Green Curry. The Fried Squash appetizer was really good and served with a nice sauce to dip into. Decent portion as well. The Green Curry was my absolute favourite and it was served in a coconut with rice wrapped in a leaf; beautiful presentation. The Curry had a wonderful creamy taste with a hint of spice in the background and the perfectly done rice absorbed the flavours of the curry to create a wonderful lasting taste in your mouth. The Holy Basil Pork with rice had an amazing smokey taste in the background and the fried egg was done as it should be. The atmosphere and decor is spot on adding a vibe that can be felt from the moment you step in and even in the washrooms. Its got a lot of original design from the building itself with colours, flags and art added in. Surprisingly even thou this location is above a bar it still has a upstairs section and it is a huge space. The washroom decor has a retro vibe with posters of different artist throughout the ages. Where Pai lost stars from me was the service and attention to detail/requests. First it took a while for our server to get around to us and acknowledge us. It wasn't a super busy evening so it felt as if we were left just sitting around until someone was ready for us. Not only that but consider the amount of food ordered the table was very small and congested leaving an anxious feeling of something falling and making a mess. This problem could have been easily addressed by placing a 2nd small table next to it or suggesting moving to a bigger one, however that is the attention to detail the waiting staff seems to miss. The girl that brought the food out even commented on the table being small but no one took initiative to fix it leaving a guest feeling there is a lack of service. Little details like that can make a huge difference in a guests experience. Second we ordered 2 Thai milk teas (they were delicious) but requested less ice however half the small glass was full of ice. Not sure if the waiter forgot to add the note or the bar missed it. You also got very little Thai milk tea for the price but even less when there's a ton of ice in it as well. I wish you received more like a regular sized glass instead of a small one.
Great Restaurant, included in the Michelin guide of restaurants. We went to the uptown location, they have one in downtown Toronto as well, and we’re pleasantly surprised. Chef Nuit’s menu selection makes you want to try everything. The apps and shareable were very tasty. I must try is Chef Nuit’s Pad Thai - you have a selection of proteins, we chose shrimps. Outstanding flavour decor was chic and casual. Very appealing. It is, however, noisy during peak times we did not mind it, but we had to ask our Server to repeat herself a few times due to the noise and her soft-spoken demeanor. Service was fast, by a team of servers. Food was pleasantly warm. Near the entrance of the second floor, are the cliff lanterns hung from the ceiling, which was beautiful. We had a great time. Food, service, atmosphere were tops.
The restaurant is stunning, and the food is absolutely delicious. I can't recommend the Pad Thai and papaya salad enough. The Pad Thai was so authentic - not sweet at all, just the right balance of sourness with soft noodles. I've been told by my Thai friend that if it's sweet, it's not the real deal! They also have a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Ace was great, love coming here.
It was truly a wonderful dining experience. My friend and I arrived on time for our reservation, and when we went in, it seemed a few tables were already occupied since they had just opened. In less than half an hour, the entire first floor of the restaurant was full. The speed of serving the dishes was reasonable, and each dish had a unique flavor, delicious and just the right portion. I look forward to trying the dinner menu next time I pass by.
Authentic Thai cuisine at its Best! Worth the visit! Try their Khao Soi noodle soup. Highly recommended!
Finally went to Pai to celebrate my friend s bday. We were looking forward to it for 2 months! FYI, for those with issues climbing stairs, there s an elevator there. I was able to get to the 2nd floor (dining) easily. I was already out of breath from walking uphill from parking! So I was relieved! Service was good. It wasn t overly enthusiastic, but just right. Our server was attentive enough to make sure we had what we needed but left us alone to talk and even after we paid our bill, didn t bother us to get up. Food was good. We had the fried fish with green curry, the fried rice, spring rolls. The best part was the mango slaw. The decor is really pretty. It s nice if you want to take pics. Unfortunately it was very loud. We had difficulty hearing each other and when the band started playing, we were practically yelling at each other! I m glad we went but not sure we will go back. Our dinners are the only way we get to catch up but it won t work if we can t hear each other!
Disappointing experience at Pai Uptown. I went with my partner for a late lunch, and we ordered a Pad Thai with beef and a Khao Pad Baan Nok. This wasn t my first visit previous experiences here were good but this time was quite different. When our order arrived, the Pad Thai came with chicken instead of beef. We flagged the issue to a passing waiter, who told us they d usually discard the dish and make a new one. Since we didn t want to waste food, we said we d keep it. He relayed the issue to our original waitress, who came over and insisted she heard chicken when taking the order. She didn t apologize or seem sorry for the mistake instead, her tone made me feel as if I was to blame or being difficult. We were very hungry at the time and didn t want to wait for another dish, so we kept the chicken Pad Thai, but the whole interaction left a bad impression. Mistakes happen, but a little professionalism and a sincere apology would have gone a long way.
Great atmosphere, and the khao soi was fantastic!
UPDATE: Wish this explanation had been provided when I was at the restaurant. At the time, I simply wanted to understand why I was being overcharged and hoped for the incorrect charges to be corrected. When I asked about the discrepancy, he told me to let it go since its only $3 without any proper explanation. Whether its a small or large amount, I shouldnt be expected to overlook incorrect charges that werent my fault. The dismissive attitude and lack of transparency when I questioned the charges was what concerned me most. I hope in the future, customer inquiries about billing issues will be handled with more transparency and proper explanation. ---------------------- BEWARE: - Hidden automatic tip ($3) forced on takeout order, hidden in HST section - Avoided showing receipt when questioned - Gave misleading HST information on first day of Ontarios restaurant tax exemption I had a concerning experience with this restaurants takeout service. When paying, they claimed their POS system was broken and couldnt confirm HST charges. After fixing it, they claimed there was no HST (on the very first day of Ontarios restaurant tax exemption), but refused to show the receipt. They had secretly added a $3 automatic tip by disguising it in the HST section - for a takeout order! We almost ended up tipping twice because of this hidden charge. Their reluctance to show the receipt only made the situation more suspicious. Forcing an automatic tip on takeout orders without consent and hiding it as HST is completely unacceptable. Restaurants must be transparent about all charges, especially taxes and gratuity.
Amazing the food came out quickly and the seating was excellent. I tried the beef rice, pork skewers, chicken skewers, lychee juice, guava juice, jasmine rice and mango sticky rice (not pictured)
Delicious food! Best Thai food I ve ever had! Had Khao Soi,chicken satay, green curry chicken and it was all so delicious! Food
Food - Khao Soi (chicken), Massaman Curry (beef), Mango sticky rice The Khao Soi did not meet my expectations based on the other reviews raving about it, however it was still good Massaman curry - I enjoyed this dish the most, it pairs really well with the jasmine rice, heavily flavoured Mango sticky rice - the dish was smaller than some other Thai restaurants I have been to, and the mango was on the sour side (however it is December in Canada, so it shouldn t been surprising) Service - the two dishes I ordered took over 20 minutes to arrive, however looking at another table that order what looked like Pad Thai, their dishes took less time than ours. Parking - I parked at the UPark by Dunfield and, Eglinton Ave E, Toronto, ON for $5 on weekends, it was a 5 minute walk from the restaurant.
The ambience at PAI Uptown is top-notch, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. However, the waiters are slow in attending to you, which can be a bit frustrating but not a huge deal. The food is good, not great, and the portion sizes are quite small, which is disappointing. Unlike other Thai restaurants where a single dish can be shared between two people, here it s just enough for one. Additionally, the prices are higher compared to other Thai restaurants we ve visited. The desserts are good.
Probably the best pai location as it is more spacious and has better interior. Food is consistently good with its authentic flavors. Prices are reasonable for Thai food in general. My go to fish is the pad Thai or the flat stir fired noodles.
Worst expereince. So crowded and so noisy. Not at all a place for family dinners. Also the food quality and quantity both are horrible. Better thai restaurants are available in GTA and uptown and downtown. Highly recommend to not visit this place as youll spoil your health, stomach as well as hard earned money. Also parking is an issue so you pay extra to park your car. So overall no point Parking: Worst as no parking available
Excellent spot, the vibe is nice and the food is incredibly tasty and well priced for Toronto sit-down restaurants
Good service, great atmosphere and fairly taste of food
Vegetarian options: Amazing food! We ordered papaya salad, garlic tofu bites, khao soi and pad see ew. Every single dish was well done. Great experience overall. One of the best Thai restaurants around. Food
Our dining experience at PAI Uptown was nothing short of spectacular! It was our first time at this location, and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Despite walking in without a reservation on a Saturday evening we were promptly seated at a fantastic spot near the stage. Our server, Victoria, made sure we were thoroughly looked after and I must commend her service and the genuine care and attention she provided us throughout the meal. Pad Thai is on the sweet side, even though we selected the second highest spice level. The steamed rice that comes as an accompaniment came wrapped and steamed in a leaf. The rice was not exactly warm and even had a crust developed over it. Vegetarian options: Has tons of vegetarian options. Most main course can be made vegetarian.
Food is amazing. Absolute delight. Takeout quantities seem smaller than dine in quantities for the same price. Would be my only critique
OMG This place is so niceeeeee ! Taste very good! The coconut ice-cream with nuts on top!very lovely!
No but BEST SOUP!!! The place is cute, the food amazing and the server super nice!
Tried to book a table for large group. I called first and was told that they only respond to email reservations . I sent email with my contact but no one replied or called.
Loved Pai uptown. Had the green curry with mango salad and mango with sticky rice for dessert. It was delicious. The atmosphere was very welcoming. It made me want to visit Thailand again. Wonderful dining experience!
Unfortunately both food quality and quantity have declined significantly. Ordered a green fish curry with 3(?) pieces of fish and a watery curry with rock-hard potatoes and sweet potatoes. Pad see ew was not good - flavour was lacking and very oily. Could see the entire bottom of the plate covered in excess oil. Also tried the Tom Yum starter size soup, which was extremely salty and left the mouth feeling very dry. 2 dishes and a soup came out to $80 with tax and tip - huge ripoff for the quality and lack of ingredients provided in the dishes (3 small pieces of fish and 5 shrimps in total)
Good food and good atmosphere
The portions are quite small and pricey. The taste isn t particularly surprising compared to other Thai restaurants
Great service, atmosphere always good, food always tasty too. Fav place that I ve tried for Thai.
Ive been here a few times. The Coconut Curry served in a coconut shell w/ rice steamed wrapped in the leaf is such a flavorful dish! Beautifully presented. Our server was extra attentive, even though it was really busy.
Restaurant is on tge 2nd floor on Yonge, just north of Eglinton. Very limited street visibility (see photos). They have stairs as well as an elevator. Restaurant decor is very funky. Service is relaxed and friendly and the food is very good.
Wonderful experience with excellent friends. If you enjoy Pad Thai youll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant. Will most certainly return!
Ive visited a couple of times and the quality has been perfect each time. Service is great and the vibe of the place is really fun
We went there for our mother s bday and was great. Ace was a great server who was thoughtful and prompt with all our needs.
Its really delicious here!!! Its hard to find, but its on the second floor of the building. I couldnt make a reservation, so I went as a walk-in, so I sat at the bar and ate, and it was delicious. Its spicy Thai food - everything is spicy, but its also delicious haha.
We made a reservation online., we ve tried without it and it s a long wait. Our server was super nice. We ordered the garlic shrimp, a pad Thai medium spice, a Khao soi, and some drinks. Everything was delicious! And the portions were huge, we couldn t finish it all. We will definitely come back.
I recommend making a reservation online to avoid waiting lines. The waiter was really nice and the place it s really good. We ordered a Pad Thai that was delicious but the Khao soi was our favourite. The music was a little loud for me but overall it was great.
The dining experience at this establishment offers a combination of delectable cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff s accommodating and friendly demeanor contributes to the overall positive experience. However, it is important to note that the prices at this restaurant are significantly higher than those of other Thai restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area. Furthermore, the practice of automatically adding gratuity of 20% for large is considered excessive and should be eliminated. Tipping should be left to the discretion of the customer based on their own satisfaction with the service.
Best pad Thai I ve ever had, staff were amazing!
Unfortunately, the pad thai was far from authentic, it was too oily and soured. The dish was brought almost cold.
The usual 5star experience you expect from PAI. All round amazing experience and comparatively a little less crowded from the downtown one. Awesome place highly recommended Food
Great place, great services. Thanks Victoria G!!!! Pad Thai was unreal Food : 5/5
Better than Thai food in Taiwan The atmosphere is very good and the decoration is very comfortable. Each toilet is independent and large.
Amazing food and service - our server Victoria was super welcoming and accommodating!
Extremely professional and welcoming staff, all of the food was amazing. Pad Gra Prow I ordered with crispy pork was delicious. Juicy and crispy pork balanced with sour fish sauce. The Plum Mule cocktail I ordered went really well with it as well. My girlfriends Thai Ice Tea was also great. While the place is a bit hard to find from a street level, the inside is very spacious but still cozy. It almost felt like I was transported out of Toronto.
Very tasty and cooked extremely well.
I honestly dont know this place has qualified foods. I ordered curry with rice, some noodles,. and the foods were not that fresh, and I eneded up having stomachache after visiting there.. and for the plates, it costs like around over $20-$27 with bad service. Asked for the bill and nobody came until I called them again. Over priced and not fresh, never go again.
The pad gra pow at this location comes with fried pork belly and I loved that. The green curry wasn t spicy enough and it was too sweet. Their menu is limited at lunch time, lots of yummy options weren t available :(
Food was fresh and very tasty. Good portion sizes as well. Would definitely come back.
The food that I ordered was salty and looks like old one. Also, the server took away my dishes as soon as Im done without any talking. I think that was rude.
The food was delicious and the service was great considering how busy it was! The place was beautiful! The drink didn t taste as good as I had hoped but the Thai Iced Tea was the best one I ve ever had!
Food was great, and the atmosphere is relaxing.Good service .
Great vibe
Loved the food! Khao Soi is very very good!
PAI is probably the most popular Thai spot and there is a reason behind it. This location is better than the downtown one
We have dined many times at PAI on Duncan St. and food at that location (excellent Pad Thai & Curry dishes) always excellent. We decided to try PAI Uptown. Small Tum Yum soup $10, Papaya salad $20 and Laab salad with pork $22 were fine (somewhat pricy for small servings), but Pad Thai with Shrimp $25.50 (noodles dry, not much taste) and Massamba curry with beef $22.75 (potatoes hard / not cooked) served luke warm and both disappointing. We wanted the Oxtail main course or other Curry main course (both not available). Service was good, but we will stick to the Duncan Street location.
The food was amazing and the staff were nice. It was pretty full so you might want to make a reservation especially for the weekends.
PAI has the BEST pad thai I ve ever had in my life. So many veggies, the noodles are perfectly cooked and the sauce has so much flavour. I love that their menu is very vegan friendly with so many dishes that can be made vegan. Amazing food and inclusive options! Hands down one of my favourite restaurants.
Always a favourite Best pad Thai Food
My friend who frequents this place took me here since its one of her favorite Thai spot in Toronto. PAI serves menu which focuses on authentic northern Thai cuisine with international influence. The spacious restaurant is decorated with wooden floorings and furnitures, yellow lantern-like lamps, colorful walls and faux facade of buildings decoration surrounding the space. The setup makes you feel like you re dining at a busy festive outdoor night market, especially with the live band playing on the stage at one corner of the room when I was visiting. What we ordered: Spring Rolls $14 8/10 Shrimp Pad See Ew $25.5 7/10 Chef Nuit Shrimp Pad Thai $25 7/10 Overall, the food tasted good but you can definitely taste the international influence on these northern Thai cuisines. Service was great and the casual, laid-back and quirky vibe of the place makes it a great hang out spot to catch up with friends over some good Thai food, live music and a drink or two.
Food is very mediocre, service is good.
food was great! friendly server, nice atmosphere
Loved the Thai market like atmosphere! The food was wonderful, flavors were outstanding and beautifully presented. The service was top notch. Definitely coming back. Food : 4/5
Most authentic Thai restaurant I ve been to in Toronto. If you ever want Thai food, this is the place to go to.
We decided to go out for dinner at the last minute and wound up at Pai. While the outside of the building is non descript, the inside is surprisingly interesting. The restaurant was packed, so we sat at the bar and was served immediately. The drinks were great, and both of our noodle dishes were amazing. Its definitely worth it. Kid-friendliness: Not really a kid place, but there were some little ones. Wheelchair accessibility: Its on the second floor. There is an elevator but a step up at the front door.
As awesome and less busy than the downtown location. Cute date spot. Today I tried Miang kung and it s now my favourite thing here! A gem of inspired restauranteuring in a sea of chain restaurants. Vegetarian options: Many veggie and vegan options available
PAI Thai Restaurant is a must-visit! We ordered the Tom Yum and Red Curry, and both dishes were outstanding. The Tom Yum was perfectly spicy and sour, full of fresh ingredients, while the Red Curry was creamy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. If you re in the mood for authentic Thai flavors, this place is top-notch. Highly recommended!
Its alright
The food taste was good, but it was so hard to filter out the onion skins that were not properly groomed. It felt like I was chewing on plastic. So sad
Very tasty thai food. Had alot of flavors.
Amazing.
Im generally not a fan of Thai food, because I find it sweet, but the food and service is pretty good at this place. The food was a perfect balance of sweet n spicy. They have a large area with many tables, buy there is always a 30-45 minute waitlist. It usually gets very noisy too, so it might not be the best place if you want to have conversations in a quiet place.
such a great date place, the food was also the best Ive had while in toronto
Amazing pad Thai!
Sabrina was soooo good! Love her energy and the service was amazing! Keep her around!!!! And the food was great as well!
We rated our dinner 8.5-9/10. The food was excellent, best of Thai food in Toronto. Except for the mango steamed rice with the mango is too sour.
Reserved a 6:15pm spot on a Friday night for 5 people via OpenTable, two weeks in advance. The atmosphere was great, and the server was very attentive, but didnt rush us at all. I didnt realise how large the restaurant was, so it was a very pleasant surprise how spacious it felt. Would recommend!
Sabrina our server was outstanding friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
This restaurant is the best interpretation of the term localization. In order to cater to the tastes of locals, the unique spicy and sour flavors in Thai food are greatly replaced by sweetness. The green curry and tom yum soup and the satay sauce are all modified versions. It is not difficult to understand why they are favored by locals, but for someone like me who wants to pursue authentic taste, I am quite sorry. The environment is very beautifully decorated and is an excellent place to check in. The restaurant has put a lot of thought into this. The clusters of sky lanterns on the ceiling presented the Thai Loy Krathong Festival in front of my eyes. It is the most amazing part of the entire restaurant. The clerks are all very friendly, and their unique clothing makes them a beautiful sight during the meal. I think this is the reason for the 18% tip. However, the restaurant management only allocated a few employees to serve nearly a hundred customers today. The staff had multiple jobs, making it difficult for me to get attention. When I have a need, I often have to wait for a long time before someone sees me. I have to say that in terms of exploiting employees, this restaurant really restores 100% of the Asian characteristics.
First time trying this spot seen all the reviews and social media postings about this place, years after I finally get a chance to try it. Decided to go with Chef nuit pad Thai with chicken and shrimp, perfect amount of noodles and overall just really tasty! Khao Soi with coconut milk curry is really flavourful and get the Thai iced tea if your thirsty :)
I have been to PAI many times and it has always been a go to spot for me and my husband and I. This past weekend we celebrated our rehearsal dinner in the private dinning room and I was so disappointed. The service was slow, the room was freezing, there was no music and the room had terrible lighting. The atmosphere was not like the restaurant. Set menu was also not as tasty as there usual menu.
The Uptown location offers a much more spacious and relaxed setting compared to its Downtown counterpart, boasting a chic and inviting vibe that immediately sets the mood for a great meal. We started with the Pai shareable platter, which was a solid choice, but surprisingly lacked the usual Thai spice kick I was craving. The green curry, which was one of my favorites, unfortunately fell flat this time, bland and missing the depth of flavors you d expect, especially disappointing since they no longer serve it with the crispy fried Basa that I used to love. The Pad Thai noodles were undeniably fresh, but like the rest, they were missing that bold, vibrant punch. The Khao Soi was decent, but it didn t particularly stand out. Overall, while the ambiance hit the mark, the flavors left me wanting more.
Great food! Reasonably priced.
Fantastic food, decent service, but it was loud to the point of being uncomfortable. Despite the noise I will absolutely be going back; the flavours are incredible. I highly recommend the Khao Soy, and the fried squash appetizer.
This place is a real gem, with great care taken in the food preparation and yummy vegetarian options.
Excellent service and delicious food
This is the first time I actually brought my partner to a thai resturants and I have to say this is one of the BEST experiences to be at. We went on a thurs night and inorder for you to get a table youd have to reserve a head but luckliy we were able to get a table CLOSE to a live band that was playing. IT is honestly the COZIEST environment to just eat, chill and enjoy the food and music. The person who served us was named Jen and she was hands down one of the best person to make the experience possible.
This place appears to be a hole in the wall from the outside, however when you get inside it s like you teleport to another dimension - ambience is great. For food my family and I tried a variety of appetizers and mains, everything was delicious and arrived promptly as well as together. From the bar we primarily drank beer and I had one cocktail - it was good, but our first round took about 15 minutes to arrive at the table. I m not sure if our server had a split section upstairs and down, but we could have been greeted faster. Apart from the slower service at the beginning and bar probably being slammed, everything was great and I will be back. Our waitress was also lovely by the way, and I love that staff can pop out and show off their style - Super cool.
Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner experience. Sabrina created the perfect atmosphere for an intimate evening and recommended delicious food.
Love it, been there more than 10 times and each time I was fully satisfied with everything
Amazing Food as a Skinny person I dont eat much but Here I was all hearts out!! So nice food such good service by SAM!! Sam s suggestions and welcoming nature just made our visit the best! Will definitely come again! Thanks Sam - Thanks Pai
Amazing food. The Moo Ping and the Khao Soi are to die for. Be sure to wash it down with the 1L glass of Sapporo.
Not recommended, not worth the price, not worth the hype at all. The flavor of most dishes is not bad, but some is just average, the portion is small, most dishes definitely don t worth their price, there are so many better restaurants for thai food in city, definitely will not recommend this place
I went here on the recommendation of a friend and it was very delicious. The taste of the tom yum goong was similar to the one I had in Thailand, and the pad thai would be even more flavorful if I added peanut powder.
I only gave it 4 stars because the cocktail was not spicy enough for my taste and I chose a dish from the salads but there were too few vegetables. It s a shame that green papaya salad doesn t exist in a vegetarian version. But otherwise these are really good, generous dishes. The grabong (entrance) was a great success!
Went for lunch today. Had a pleasant experience with our server Victoria and the food was great
Went for lunch on 10/03/2024. The food (chicken pad thai & green curry) was decently proportioned and the presentation was good as well. Victoria (dope Animaniacs sweater) of the wait staff was particularly impressive and attentive to any dietary restrictions. Will likely return to try more of the menu
Loved the place, the service and the food. One of our most preferred dinner places.
I wish there were more stars to give. Cant find a better restaurant in Toronto! Food is amazing and so is the staff!
The food was good but the service was lackluster. The servers were doing the bare minimum, not polite nor attentive to our table. It was opening hours on my birthday and it was less than half busy. It took them over 10 minutes to notice that and come over to offer our bill to us. The khao soi beef lacked any marination or flavour and the soup was very salty. The atmosphere is nice but the horrible service and subpar Thai food, you have many better options for the similar pricing and much better service.
Great lively Thai restaurant with fun atmosphere, loud music and younger crowd. Very limited reservations are allowed. Food is very good but a tad overpriced for Thai food in general especially for their portions. I feel like you are paying extra for the atmosphere and the Michelin star. Definitely recommend as one of the better midtown Thai restaurants especially to celebrate a special occasion with friends.
I ve tried both their Pad Thai & Pad See Ew and they re absolutely delicious! I like to get mine with beef and it comes out tender every single time. For dessert, their coconut and pandan sorbet is to die for. It s also vegan so perfect if you have lactose intolerance. Pai is one of the best restaurants I ve been to. The service, the food, the atmosphere, they re all very well done.
Our server interrupted us 3 times and we felt like we re being rushed, it wasn t even busy and there were empty tables around us. She was so rude and interrupted my conversation and gave us the machine when we didn t even finish eating yet. I wouldn t recommend this location to anyone.
I have tried their pad Thai and that is their best seller for a reason. It literally takes you to the streets of Thailand. I have also liked their mango chicken salad and their green curry which was so cutely served inside a coconut. Their cocktails were pretty nice, although nothing extraordinary. Reservations are definitely recommended as this place gets crowded on almost each day.
Ambience very pretty and good was good. Would go again.
Wow! Truly fantastic! From the service to the food to the decor and design, everything was perfect. This is the best Thai place in Toronto and thats saying a lot because we have a lot of really good Thai in Toronto. Our server Champoo went above and beyond & was a delight to deal with. Will return soon
I ve had this restaurant recommended to me several times and finally had the chance to check it out for myself . If I could give 6 stars I would . Absolutely incredible .The service the ambiance THE FOOD nothing like I ve experienced in Toronto. Everything was immaculate I will for sure see them again ! PAI IS WELL DESERVING OF ALL ITS RATINGS
Delicious food Awesome bar staff for their friendly service Price is bit high than market price and tip percentage is defaulted from 18%. Food : 5/5
Coconut sorbe is amazing
My favourite Thai restaurant ever! Never disappoints. Space is lot larger than the downtown location. Fabulous atmosphere. Pai is always part of our itinerary whenever we visit Toronto. Looking forward to our next meal!
What a treat this was. Everything was amazing. A must stop in Toronto. Parking: Underground parking just down the road 1 min walk if that Food : 5/5 |
Good food but expensive
shared pad thai, pad see ew, moo ping w/ sticky rice and thai iced tea. wonderful meal, more on the expensive side. authentic tasting. would recommend :)
Best Thai food in Toronto.
Had the Shrimp & Chicken Pad Thai, and I rarely do food reviews but I can confidently say with no doubt, simply the best I ve ever had. Probably the next best I will have will have to be straight from Thailand!
Average food, given their price, there are many other better Thai restaurants that are cheaper and better tasting food.
Food and drinks were very good and our server chompoo was very polite and made the experience more enjoyable.
chompoo was a great server and the experience was great
I enjoyed the service at Pao uptown. Victoria was my server and she was excellent. Will be back soon, thanks Victoria!
The food was delicious. The portion sizes were enough to share and still leave satisfied. Our waitress was profession and very accommodating throughout our meal. The atmosphere was well lit. A little on the loud side, but comfortable.
Food was delicious and Atmosphere was great. Service was a bit slow. Music can also be turned down just a little bit. Overall it was still a good place and would definitely go back to try other food.
1 Thai tea is too sweet. I had it last time. I ordered it less sweet this time, but I was told that it cannot be less sweet. So is it pre-made or brewed directly from powder? 2 Beef pad thai- The beef was not fresh, so I guess its added too many seasonings to marinate it and made it too salty. The pad thai was not fried, there was no fried taste, and it was all stuck together. 3 Chicken and shrimp pad thai, the chicken tastes bad, and the pad thai has not been fried, and there is no fried taste. 4 Stewed oxtail with rice - the rice was too dry as if it had been cooked overnight. The first piece of oxtail I took was cold, as if it was not fully heated, but its texture was very soft, as if it had been stewed for a long time. If it was in the store It shouldnt be cold when stewed, and its not hot enough overall. 5 Tom Yum Soup-too sweet, no spice 6 Only cocount ice cream is delicious
My favorite Thai food restaurant in the city, highly recommended.
One of the best
Great Thai food and even better atmosphere. The restaurant is located on the upper floor of the building and has a spacious, comfortable vibe. The window-facing tables are especially nice. Ive tried the Khao Soi, Pad Thai, Massaman curry and green curry. My favourite was probably the green curry. Everything is flavourful and tastes fresh. Presentation is also nice, as some of the curries are served in coconuts. My only gripe about the food is that by default the spice level is mild, and you have to request for authentic spice levels. The rice portions were also a bit small for the amount of each curry. Prices include tip and gratuity for group, and comes out to around $33 per dish, which is fairly normal for GTA restaurants nowadays. As a bonus, the washrooms are single stall and clean.
Got my order wrong and no one took accountability.
Been to downtown location a few times. This one is just as great. Just heads up it s in second floor and there is an older elevator at the front which goes straight to the restaurant second floor. Parking: Paid parking lot about five minutes walk
Dont be surprise if there is a line out of the door. The restaurant is huge. There are multiple seating areas. I was able to make my meal vegan. My pad thai was saucey--on the sweeter side. I would come back!
Always a pleasure to go to Pai, it s a safe bet and good value. The curry is my favourite (Gaeng Massaman - beef). Never tried the dessers though. Food : 5/5
Amazing food, gorgeous atmosphere and great service. Best restaurant I ve been to in a while
Great food would definitely come back. The Thai tea was amazing, the Khao Soy was also great. I highly recommend.
Great ambience, very friendly and attentive service, good food.
Came here to celebrate a birthday. It took no time for us to be seated. Our server took some time to give us water and to also come back to us to take our order. We ordered quite a bit, but everything took no more than 30 minutes Id say. We got a Pai Sangria Pitcher to share amongst the adults. In terms of food, everything was tasty, especially the Pad Gra Prow and the Fried Rice with chicken. When dessert time came around, we ordered the Mango Coconut Mousse Cake and the Mango Sticky Rice. Both really good and a nice way to end dinner. Staff is really nice and whenever we were done with a plate, there was always someone to walk by and take it. Check-ins from our server couldve been more frequent, especially when we were done with our main meals. When I made the reservation for this visit, I mentioned that it was a birthday and it wouldve been nice if the mousse cake came with a candle initially. We had to ask another server for it. I kind of wish they paid more attention to that detail. Overall, this place is really nice for a casual lunch or dinner. Theres a stage for live music and the decor really adds to the atmosphere. It does get busy though, which could be annoying at times when you have to search for your server. As much as I would like to come back to this place soon, I dont think the portion sizes justify most of the prices. They also dont take cash?
Im convinced Pai has the absolute best Pad Gra Prow on the planet. Its one of my favorite dishes period. The Kanom Jin is also amazing. The Gaeng Massaman, however, is absolutely disgusting. It literally tastes like sweaty feet. Im shocked its even on the menu with how bad it was. Im not the only person thats had it and have found it completely inedible. All in all, Pai is amazing, but avoid the Gaeng Massaman at all costs. Its so bad that you wont want to come back
Really good pad Thai, Thai milk tea, and Tum yum soup
Love PAI! Recommend Khao soi
Where should I begin or should i not ?? Well, Well, let s hear a honest review from a foodie & a google food critic! Let s list it from the top! 1. You might notice that as you enter the location, you might not be greeted THAT well by the staff. Like not a proper hello, hi & the lady just escorted us upstairs very abruptly to our table! Ok fine. Didn t mind that much as we were in a good mood! 2. Lets talk about the FLAVOURS First ..!! I ve visited Thailand many times & to mention I am vegan & hence I do know what authenticity could be. If i compare to the Real Thai this restaurant is just 50-60 % close to flavours !! Thereby a Very Overhyped restaurant in Toronto! > Spring Rolls - were nice & crunchy- more noodles inside than actual veggies ! -> Food was served pretty . Cold None of our mains were served hot, not even warm- Is a HUGE FAIL according to me !! When you serve a Thai Curry, it should be directly served as it s cooked !! Anyway! -> Green curry- with tofu & veggies Imbalance of quantity of tofu & veggies 80% tofu & 20% veggies !! Well, the flavours would dampen if you addd this much amount of tofu, The quantity of the curry was good enough & surprisingly they added squash to the curry, didn t appreciate much in a traditional green curry! Flavour of green curry was ok, just likeable enough, but not great ! > No serving spoons served- well when you expect the customer to pay higher than what your hospitality is , the customers aren t going to chose to come back! The staff is very young yet hardworking but such a restaurant needs proper hospitality trained staff..!! We had to ask twice & look for the server several times to ask for serving spoon! Again when we ordered another curry, NO serving spoon was given ! Completely unexpected !! > Penang curry- the plate which was served in, was unappealing & the curry (sauce) was MUCH less! Ok Ive had penang curry at manyyyy places & when mentioned we got an answer that this is our standard but obliged us to give some extra coconut curry in a side bowl, appreciated it to the server! The penang curry is supposed to be bursting with flavours, but seemed to be JUST cocunutty & other main flavours of galangal, lemongrass, etc were missing !! Btw, i did not even feel galangal , lemongrass & proper thai flavour in even green curry! When you serve Thai food, that s where the aromas arise, but this restaurant lacked everything !! -> Rice- just wrapping it in a leaf doesn t make it presentable! Rice was 100% undercooked.!!!!! Thai rice is something you can eat by itself However, it was terribly chewy !! If a restaurant cannot cook proper RICE, what is it even famous for ?? -> vegan Pad Thai- quite flavoursome , 4/5, but again who serves raw shredded CABBAGE on the side ????!!! Weird This restaurant would need much more criticism to serve customers according to what they charge us! > Coconut sorbet - ok i had some high hopes on this one-!! Who could go wrong with a creamyy coconut sorbet right..?? But No- they absolutely failed ..!!!! Sorbet had more sugar than actual coconut, very overpowering sweetness, plus if you cannot get a creamy sorbet out of coconut, why serve it ???? It was very watery! We regret spending 19$ (without tax) on it Plus even the presentation (like i saw on other pictures) did not match The coconut noodles randomly came onto the spoons & mouth, making it hard to even take a bite from it ..!! > wanted to order mango sticky rice- & guess what- they were sold out..!!! WHY ??!!! Lol My Sangria- had the odd guava juice (& thought to give it a shot) but again didn t like it much- a fresh orange juice would have been much much better! We are very sure we are Never returning to Pai or getting our family or friends here The Thai flavours are absolutely not worth it & hopefully Toronto has Multiple better Thai restaurants to offer..!! To the Manager, Please look into this review seriously! Your restaurant lacks in flavour, service & hospitality. You need to provide customers with the hospitality they deserve!
Their massaman curry was a bit of a smaller portion but was creamy, smooth and packed with spices and bit of sweetness. It wasn t as spicy (the tamarind sauce that comes with shrimp chips was spicier imo). I didn t really taste a strong peanut flavour as I usually do with massaman curry but it was still a great meal. Although , the portions were smaller and the beef and potatoes balls includes were not as tender. I ordered shrimp chips as an appetizer but was surprised with the large portion which could be enough to satisfy a whole group . The service was great and waiters were very friendly and attentive
Can t believe it s take. Me this long to try PAI. This place definitely lives up to the hype. 10000% reccomend.
Me and the Goomah, sry the Goomah and I were craving Pad Thai. The food is both delicious and traditional. Service was next lvl and the atmosphere brings the joint all together. Pad yourselves on the back heh heh
September 7/24 - family dinner - $$ - all the dishes we ordered were excellent very fresh and delicious ( pad tai, green chicken curry, fried tofu, fried spring rolls and the red curry soup ) - excellent and very friendly service ( our server Jasmine was attentive and great ) - beautifully decorated and great ambiance ( elevator only goes to the second floor, stairs only to the third floor ) We will come back and we highly recommend this Thai restaurant Parking: Park at Green P parking garage - $10 flat rate after six pm. The others charges as much as $5 per hour Yonge St. can be very congested and busy in a weekend evening hours
Lived up to the hype. Curry is so rich and Pad Thai is one of the best Ive had.
Went for a quick work lunch with coworkers. The food was delicious and service was fast. Its not cheap, but the portions are decent. Dietary restrictions: The server asked about allergies and the food was served on plates that were colour coded based on the individuals preferences.
Happy wife, Happy life.
Honestly our party was rather disappointed. The music volume was loud enough to be slightly painful so it must be horrible for the staff. We got 2 bent forks, the tea was great but nearly 2/3rd of the cup was filled with giant ice cubes and coconut curry tasted overly salty like it was from a packet. We recco people go to the downtown location or Khao San Road.
Overall our group experience was great! The food was good. I ordered the pad see eww which I love but the beef was a little bit touch. But, the flavors were great! The drinks were phenomenal! I definitely recommend this location as they have 3 floors and the atmosphere is great!
Very yummy Thai food. We ordered the gaeng panang curry, pad see ew, and khao pad baan nok. We went to location in uptown and the space itself was large with 2 levels for dining. The service was quick and our server had timely check ins. A great spot to get your Thai fix in.
Beautiful space. Service is very slow. Took half hr for a cup of tea, which is not made in house. Food was good. Ran out of mango sticky rice dessert, which was disappointing.
We have been to Bangkok & Phuket in Thailand, but the Thai food at PAI beats them, so delicious We love their pad Thai, Kao Soi & Pad Gra Pao, everything was so delicious & bursting with flavour. I certainly would recommend them for their impeccable service & ambience too, we re definitely coming back!
soooo good. fun atmosphere with a dj and hip music! Good food and pretty, unique cocktails :)
It s definitely worth the hype. I ordered the famous pad Thai and the app platter, and every item was delicious and full of flavour.
Had a great dinner at pai uptown tonight. Angelo was our server and was very helpful making great recommendations. I always like when servers at a restaurant are excited/passionate about the food, this meal did not disappoint!
Always amazing!!!
Not the delicious food , it s a good hangout place too
PAI is a no-brainer when it comes to Thai food. It s become our go-to spot especially when we don t feel like searching for new restaurants!
Delicious food, great atmosphere and service was spot on.
Not recommended to come to eat anymore, food is way overpriced. I got the green curry for lunch, it s basically a bowl of rice with some instant green curry sauce and a few pieces of chicken and squash. It cost like $ 33 with tax and tips lol. We reserved for 6 people and the place auto charge for 20% tips. When we were there the server basically delivered our food and that s it. No check up on how we are doing. Don t understand why I m being charged for service fee when I barely get any service other than getting food and asking to pay. Not a pleasant experience to eat the food. I can get better food with $33. Very disappointing
