Nostalgic Canton style sweet delish. Bought the Pandan coconut rice cake which is rich in texture with no preservatives. They also made old school black sesame paste rice cake which I found it the same when I tried in Manhattan Chinatown 11 years ago.

The woman at the counter helped me pick out a suitable midday snack of rice noodles and firm tofu. She tossed the noodles up in sriracha and a soy based sauce and they were the delicious! The combo was good for the tofu as well. Super full and happy for under 6 with leftover tofu for tonight. Thanks so much!

Bought 2 tubs of their beancurd. Was really looking forward as we read good things, but it tasted sour and smelled funky.

Purchased their Pandan Seven Layer Cake from Freshway Foodmart in Markham. Semi sweet and very well balanced flavors of coconut and pandan. Almost finished the whole package before remembering to take a photo. Will definitely visit their shop next time I'm at Kensington Market.😁

Amazing tofu dessert, it’s a must get with the syrup and perfect for all weather. It’s so silken and light, not too sweet. Makes me super nostalgic, I’m so happy this shop is still open. Hoping it continues to be open for long time.

My mom used to buy me their sweet rice cakes all the time for me when I was a kid. I’ve tried it at other places before but they are never as good as Fong’s!

Old school shop that I have nastalgia over eating their rice cakes. Friendly old ladies. Good value. I always try to make a stop whenever in town, having grown up eating their stuff for over 20 years!

Fong On has been around for over 30 years. They specialize in Soy based products and rice based desserts. Some traditional Cantonese style desserts include fermented steam rice cake ($1.50) and bowl shaped rice cakes with red beans, as well as traditional Vietnamese desserts included pandan coconut milk mung bean cakes ($3.25) and coconut milk cakes. Vegans will be delighted to learn that these traditional sweets are all plant based! No modification or special request required! I am look forward to picking up some fresh tofu and soy based products in the future! On a recent visit, there also seems to be Buddhist style vegetarian platters refrigerated as well! This is such a exciting discovery, as it adds to new vegan options in this already vegan friendly neighbourhood! The vegan God must be blessing this area and sprinkling it with extra star dust!
