From the outside, this restaurant does not look very attractive, but this changes once you get inside. On the ground floor, the atmosphere is that of an intimate, homey diner—a bit too crowded. But when you reach the second floor, everything changes. Suddenly, you find yourself in a smaller version of Vienna's popular restaurant, with beautiful chandeliers and decorated walls. A vast, floor-to-ceiling window is a winning feature, and several tables are placed along it. There, I ate one of the most delicious chicken paprikash ever in a quiet, pleasant atmosphere. I will certainly go back to try other dishes. The owner is a wonderfully friendly woman who believes in traditional values of good, home-like cuisine. I would like to suggest a better-looking menu, possibly with food photos. It would be easier to order from it. I give this restaurant an A.
I loved the place. I will definitely go again and bring my family too! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing meal. The food was absolutely delicious. To top it off, the owner was incredibly kind and came over to check on us at the end of our meal, making the experience even more memorable. I saw they have a second floor as well, which I didn’t get a chance to explore this time, but I’ll definitely check it out on my next visit!
Delightful! I couldn’t resist the shuba, which is a tradition chopped mayonnaise salad made with layers of beet, herring, eggs, and they included salmon as well. Very generous portion. And I also spoilt the syrnkyky and cheese pancakes with my mom. Super yummy. I would definitely go back and try more things.
Marusya it is Nice Ukrainian cuisine. Dishes are pretty tasty. Quality of food is very good. I ate freen borsh there. Prices are ok. There are also second floor with few tables and a nice patio outside. I recommend this place.
A pleasant spot to experience the delicious Ukrainian cuisine 🇺🇦. I will sure be back next time I am in the neighborhood. Tried the cold borscht (vegetarian summer cold soup), today, loved it. Definitely recommend this place. Nicely decorated interior, pleasant and a quick service. You guys do deserve 5 stars!
This new place is so lovely with its beautiful decor and ambience. My friend really enjoyed her smoked salmon with potato pancakes (which I can attest was yummy!), but I was disappointed with my chicken schnitzel sandwich. It was only okay. If I came back, I would definitely get what my friend had ordered. At first, the dessert variety was enticing, but, upon inquiring further, there were only really about 4 available cakes out of the many on display. The one we wanted wasn’t available so we got the Tirumisu, which was tasty. We appreciated the kind gesture of a cake and small toasts on the house. I wasn’t necessarily wow’d by my first experience, but I’d be willing to try the potato pancakes if I came back.
Our family had brunch at Marusya’s Kitchen today and had wonderful service and quality food. Appreciate having the choices and variety of food on the menu. Great location and atmosphere. Love the decor.
Marusya's Kitchen exudes a warm and inviting ambiance, serving as a delightful spot for a casual yet refined dining experience. The attention to detail in presentation and the cozy decor suggest a thoughtful and comfortable setting, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal. It's a charming destination for anyone looking to savor some Ukrainian cuisine in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. We’ve always frequented Janchenko’s bakery and are happy that Bloor street has one more restaurant like this.
Excellent solyanka soup and Reuben sandwich! Perfectly balanced and hearty. We got the rye bread with both dishes which was incredible. Good value for money! The carrot salad that came with the sandwich was a letdown and didn t taste much of anything. Interesting drink options to try out as well!
The owner was drunk and very rude.
Excellent food in a nicely decorated well lit and large enough space, conveniently located at Jane and Bloor. Parking: Best to park on side streets or come by TTC
Had the avocado toast, it was pretty good. The rye bread was amazing. Coffee was okay ish. Food : 4/5
Great selection of European styled menu items, very hard to choose from! Freshly prepared meal, the people there obviously take pride in their work in a spotless and pleasantly decorated restaurant. Will return to try other items for sure.
Dinner for 4 was a wonderful experience. Beef stroganof was exceptional, both with noodles or with mashed potatoes. The beet salad and the crepe - wonderful. The ambieance equalled the food - a true neighborhood dining experience. Will be back, again and again.
Very nice place with tasty food. However, small lunch portions for the price. I had the pork goulash on potato pancakes, served on an 8-9 plate. Could have eaten at least two of these to feel full. This is European comfort food with fine dining portions.
Literally perfect oh my God, so good. Dont know who Marusya is but she is definitely a saint. Vegetarian options: Borscht vegetarian
Unrealistically delicious! Kholodnik, borscht, dumplings
Amazing Ukrainian restaurant/breakfast spot in west Toronto
A wonderful restaurant with delicious cuisine. Here you can try Ukrainian borscht, Hungarian paprikash and Canadian breakfast. Nice waiters and experienced cooks (by the way, all Ukrainians). I recommend)
Found my Best Savoury Crepes, mushrooms with sour cream on the side. As always wanted savoury crepes then sweet. great ambiance, if looking for European food. Would like to come back again and try more stuff. July 27, 2024 breakfast again the most amazing experience. If u want quality breakfast , this is the place.
Came because of the reviews, did not disappoint. Highly recommend checking this place out if you re in the area. Anything you get would be delicious, since I will be back to try more items on the menu! My husband and I went for breakfast and couldn t have been happier. Serve was fast and very welcoming. Was pleasantly surprised how nice the atmosphere was as well! Thank you!
Excellent food and service. Will return next time I am in Toronto.
Came here with my Ukrainian Girlfriend as a surprise brunch and she loved it. Really nice vibe inside. Food was good, as expected. Wasn t busy for a Saturday and considering it s Toronto. Great little place.
1. The cold beet soup: AMAZing. If it s not this soup, I will give a 4 stars overall. 2. Egg Benedict: do not like it at all. The sauce is either made from those convenient powder, or over cooked. The Montreal smoke meat is way too dry, as the bread. 3. Sauce is very average quality. The waitress didn t ask how we like the food. So couldn t get to explain to her.
The truth is a pleasant surprise, we went for breakfast and the food and service were exceptional. Reasonable prices. The incredible potato pancakes with salmon
Nice restaurant. Lovely staff. Food was delicious and very fresh. The beet salad was real nice and liked how they do their cabbage rolls. Will be back!
. Delicious food that was well presented. The atmosphere in upstairs dining room was bright & airy. The staff is friendly & they provided excellent service . Will definitely go back for another meal.
Loved the food and vibes! Everything was so yum! But the cherry pirogies took me to a whole other world!
This is a great place - food is so tasty, service is great, owner is so nice and friendly - we are definitely going back soon. If you have a change try: cold borscht, potato salad & a chicken schnitzel - amazing !!!
I loved the food, I ordered the salmon bagel and it was delicious.
Great little place with great food
The food is amazing at that place. It tastes really delicious.
Great spot to enjoy a quality tasty meal with nice decor. Classy little spot. There s also a nice little second story private outdoor patio in the back.
I have been here twice: one for brunch with friends about a month ago and another time last week for supper. The food is decent, but the wine is not so good. My friend was disappointed by the Italian wine they had and said that it tasted as though the bottle had been opened a few days earlier. He would not finish the glass. I finished it for him, but agreed that it was no good. My wife complained that one of her entrees was almost appetizer sized. My food was fine, but not awesome. All in all, we had a wonderful visit, but would probably go elsewhere in the future for supper. I think the place is better for a snack or brunch than for supper.
Great lunch special. Ham and Brie with fig jam on rye with a bowl of borscht. Friendly server. Met owner Maria. A wonderful lady, very humble and authentic. Wish them continued success!
I had a super nice lunch today I do highly recommend,They have a great selection of salads , sandwiches, pierogies and many more .Ms Olena was very professional and kind . Food
Food was awesome. We had the Reuben and Western omelette. The omelette was good but kind of overcooked for our liking. Although it s an Asian thing
Looked forward to coming here for breakfast. We arrived on a Saturday at 9am and by the time that we left at almost 11am only one other table came. Prices are quite expensive for what they serve. I ordered the Western omelette with potatoes and the omelette was dry and insipid. Absolutely no flavour whatsoever. It tasted and looked more like an egg crepe with a few ham and peppers thrown on top of it. The other guests had the smoked salmon and potato pancakes. The salmon was quite nice but the potato pancake was mushy and again, insipid. $110 later for 4 people for breakfast, ahhh was a bit on the pricey side. Will not return.
Amazing authentic Ukrainian food, great service.
Incredible AUTHENTIC Ukrainian food Highly recommend the red borscht and vryniki. Food : 5/5 |
We really enjoyed our breakfast at Maryusa s Kitchen. Great addition to the neighbourhood. Friendly atmosphere, really good food and the kids loved it! We will be back soon.
Different from standard brunch spots in the city, good portions as well !
The ambiance was cozy, the service attentive, and the food absolutely delicious.
The food was great! Everything was simple and delicious. A lot of eastern European influenced dishes that are hard to find. Will definitely be coming back!
Lovely little place near Jane and Bloor that serves homecooked food and tasty pastries. The owner is lovely and the chefs in the back cook delicious food, I especially liked the solyanka soup and borscht. I didnt even know green borscht was a thing. Their brown bread was phenomenal on its own or for dipping in the soup. Puff pastries with the Dulce de leche filling were a great little treat too. They also serve alcohol but we were too stuffed to even have any :) Decor is classy too.
Great restaurant! Owner is friendly and welcoming, as well as the staff!! The food is just like home... and the portions are enough to feed a village!! Love it!! Food : 5/5
Bright, cheerful space overall, consistently good food, friendly and inviting. Get the cherry varenyky. Vegetarian options: Decent selection, with latkes, lots of types of varenyky, cabbage rolls, etc. Probably not fantastic for vegans but plenty of options if you only avoid meat. Wheelchair accessibility: Two floors, - the lower floor does have a narrowish door, the second is completely out of reach. However there is usually seating available downstairs.
Absolutely loved the food, the service and the atmosphere of the place, so definitely 5 stars. I ve tried their brunch menu and specifically potato pancakes with salmon (plus added for $2 sunny-side-up eggs) and syrniki (sweet farm cheese pancakes) with sour cream and jam. It was absolutely delicious . The owner and the staff were very friendly, polite and attentive. An additional pleasant surprise was that the place has two floors and the second floor is very spacious. It was very lovely to chat with the owner who truly cares about the quality and taste of the food and also has an inspiring beautiful vision for the place, expanding the menu for dinner with delicious options. It makes me happy to see local authententic places like Marusya s in the neighbourhood. So I will definitely be back!!
Superb addition to Bloor West. Excellent menu specializing in Ukrainian dishes, very authentic and served properly. Excellent service by the wait staff. Food professionally prepared, very tasty and amazingly presented. Will definitely be back. Come hungry, you ll leave full.
Amazing place! Food is delicious, great sized servings and its not too expensive. Nice authentic, small cafe vibe
I got the smoked salmon and potato pancake and it was excellent. Coffee was also very good. Great to have a nice Ukrainian restaurant.
Excellent food, very clean, great service. Parking: Large Green P parking near by. Food : 5/5 |
This was our first time at Marusya s and we absolutely loved it! Great service from a super friendly server, amazing food and generous portions. We were 4 adults and a toddler, and my son had twice the amount of food he usually eats. And he is a picky eater) Really, give this place a try, and you won t be disappointed.
I had a delicious green borscht the other day, perfect for this weather, then I stopped to have breakfast, food it s absolutely delicious and fantastic, the staff super nice and friendly. Don t forget to try the lavender latte superb!
Great spot for lunch - really liked the ambiance, service, and food.
Wow! I love this place. The food is amazing and offers many options. Service is attentive, accommodating, and welcoming. A touch of Europe in BWV at a reasonable price.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere
This is a beautiful, authentic, delicious Ukrainian Restaurant. It is the newly opened sister restaurant to the Janchenkos Bakery situated just a few doors down on Bloor West. The staff at both locations are very friendly and attentive to a great dine - in experience. Take - out foods and espresso coffee available, as well. Highly recommend.
Great new brunch restaurant. The owner is Ukranian Maria who owns the bakery up the street in Bloor West Village Janchenko Bakery! Had the breakfast with Polish sausage, my only wish would be to serve with potato pancake, and tiny salad as an option or upgrade. Its very cute feels like youre in an European cafe, hope its a success! Try it out, support local. Best of luck!
Great food and service.
Fairly priced, delicious food, good portions
It s a new Ukrainian restaurant with beautiful atmosphere. We have been there for a dinner with my colleagues and I highly recommend this place, because it has really delicious food, it is very clean, and everyone is very friendly and made sure that everything is as going well for you. We will back for sure. Thank you so much guys
fantastic restaurant, the food is all amazing, the owner is very kind, and all the staff are so helpful. also a beautiful ambiance.
The three of us went here for Breakfast this Saturday morning. Loved the food, the friendly European atmosphere and the excellent service. All three of us ordered the Polish Sausage Breakfast. The Sausage was delicious right down to the last bite as were the Eggs, Fried Potatoes and the hearty slice of dark Rye Bread. This is truly a Jewel of a Restaurant located right in Bloor West Village. Afterwards, we went to Jachenkos Bakery at Bloor and Armadale Street to pick up some delectable treats for later.
Excellent breakfast place! Traditional Ukrainian cuisine, a wide range of menu options, including bakery. They also have high-grade coffee machines. The service is fantastic, too, Alina was helping me with the order, and she was very prompt and helpful. Five-star restaurants all around strongly recommend trying their syrniki.
Lovely place! Enjoyed by breakfast and a warm atmosphere in a rainy and cloudy morning! Thank you!
Super! Traditional and delicious food and perfect friendly service. We had the green borscht, herring with fried potato and pickled onion, cabbage roll, braised cabbage/apple/sausage, and finished with syrniki. The latter served with seabuckthorn jam! Everything was excellent. I cant wait to return for the rest of the menu!
The green borscht is wonderful!
The homemade potato pancakes topped by beef and mushroom were Delicious - what a wonderful treat! Thank you for creating such a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy som fantastic comfort food. Food
Best breakfast Ive had in the neighborhood! Delicious and such a cute space!
Adorable ukranian restaurant with great food and service.
The most delicious Ukrainian food I ve tried in Toronto. Great atmosphere and awesome service. Definitely visiting again!
Good food, good coffee, good service, good price. Stop reading and just go!
A really lovely place with a great selection of food and a very friendly staff. I was with my Mom and Step Dad tonight and the owner knows them so she came over and spent sometime with us after our meals which was nice. Please give this place a try, it s super good! and be sure to check out Janchenko bakery for some baked goods one block east when your done as she owns this awesome spot as well :)
Very overpriced for what you get. I ordered the chicken paprikasch and my companion the beef stroganoff. We both received a small bowl of food. My companion got a scoop of beef Stroganoff on top of a mound of mashed potatoes. I got a scoop of chicken paprikasch on a small bowl of pasta. No side salad, no bread, no coleslaw, nothing else. And these items were listed as Dinner, not a snack. Presumably one could order additional sides but at these prices I expected more than a scoop on carbs. This place is ok if you have money to burn and you are not very hungry. Two bowls, two beers, $83.00. A bit rich. Food was okay, service was okay, ambience was fine, but what you get for the money they are asking for is very poor value. I wont be back.
Loved shopping at Janchenko Bakery, Maria s first store. Amazing mushroom crepes, homemade dinners, soups, perogies and walnut and poppyseed loaves. Had dinner at her new restaurant, Marusya s Kitchen. The hot chocolate, potato pancake, with capers, smoked salmon and red onions exceeded our expectations, The ambiance is stunning and spacious. The second floor offers a beautiful view of Bloor Street and an outdoor terrace at the back. Amazing service fromAnastasia and Sofia. Great prices. Will return and recommend this gem! With gratitude, Rosemarie Taylor
Service was lovely, food was amazing, and it s so cute inside. Perfect for a chilly day meal. Will be back next time I m in the neighborhood.
