Tradicional Venezuelan food
Best Venezuelan food in Toronto! It's true to the real venezuelan food and portions are great. Their staff is attentive and fairly quick with the orders.
I’ve been coming here for 5 years now and it was always a good experience. I usually order arepas, cachapas, empanadas, tequeños or parrilla mixta. Sadly, last time I came here with my husband, we ordered the parrilla mixta and were disappointed. Meat was dry and the whole plate was really salty. We left a bit disappointed. The tequeños were great as always.
The Gordo Ex is my go-to spot for nostalgia. The food is amazing, and I always recommend this restaurant to my friends. The Asado negro is my favourite plate.
We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, the steak was overcooked and slightly burnt. When we asked the waitress about portion sizes, she showed us something half the actual size and said it wasn't too big. Based on her recommendation, we ordered an additional main dish with two appetizers. In the end, the portions were much larger than she led us to believe, and we barely touched one of the main dishes. It felt like we were misled just to order more food so they can make more money. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, but ok to go try something new.
Great Venezuelan food ! The arepas are huge !!! The services was not the best, the lady had an attitude sadly
A friend asked if this was a good Venezuelan place so we decided to try it out first, menu has good variety, plenty of Venezuelan options, you will find vegetarian options, however, Venezuelan food is better for meat eaters. We tried the pabellón (typical Venezuelan dish), tequeños (appetizer), beef empanada, cheese cachapa and quesillo for dessert, everything was delicious and we'll definitely come again to try the arepas and pastelitos! Server was very friendly and the food was done quickly.
This place is full of joy, considering the music, the sympathetic and polite crew and the delicious food, of course! If all of this is part of the Venezuelan culture, you bet I'm in love! The taste of the food was so incredible, my family and I couldn't get enough! Also, the waitress was so gentile and polite. All those details made our night!
Good Venezuelan street food. Service is courteous although the food can take a bit long to come out. The cachapas are our favourite with fresh cheese and the right texture. We often find typical sweet snacks that takes us back home. The decorations and ambiance is great, the background music is enjoyable.
WHAT THE HELL, I arrived at the place at 12:10 and they had the nerve to tell me that they are closed and that they dont know what time they will open And according to you they open at 12 noon The damn thing that was cleaning was very rude, with that attitude that he told me Take better care of your clientele We have come from Waterloo
Really good experience would definitely recommend
Everything excellent,
The best Venezuelan atmosphere Good music, good service and most important of all 100% AUTHENTIC VENEZUELAN FOOD La Capacha the best in Toronto Recommended 100% Patacon del Gordo
The food is delicious, the place is small but cozy. The service can be improved but its really not bad. The food is delicious, the place is small but cozy. The service can be improved but its really not bad.
Wonderful place, Excellent service and the food more than spectacular and delicious
It was my first time having Venezuelan food and it did not disappoint.
Order took longer -20 minutes, the arepas very oily and not great taste. The steak with to much fat than beef- overpriced.
Excellent experience! Ill be back
Outrageous experience. I used to come here all the time, and now I m ashamed to bring my non-Venezuelan girlfriend to try out foods from my country. We were served our food, and THEN we were told that there was a minimum purchase of $20 per person, or we d have to yield our table to the next person that comes in. When we asked for clarification later on, they arbitrarily hiked that amount to THIRTY dollars per person. This paired with their attitude made the experience extremely unpleasant before the food was even on our table. We felt extremely unwelcome, and my girlfriend understandably does not want to come back again. REGARDING the owner reply: to introduce my girlfriend to my country s food, we ordered 12 tequeños, $33.90 after taxes. Put yourself in her shoes and imagine being told, smugly, that you re not welcome here. This rule was not on the website, nor it was told to us when we called ahead of time, nor when they took our order, but minutes AFTER it was sent to the kitchen, with an unwelcoming tone. And please read again, the rule was changed from $20 to $30(!) per person when we asked again. This is not how you treat customers.
Authentic Venezuelan delicious Food
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times already, and I have hesitated about leaving a good or a bad review since I found that food is good, but the service has never been great but in my last visited I think I had enough of this service. All these people working there have no idea about customer service they are not friendly at all. The blonde lady at the cashier machine always has such a bad attitude, and the way that she replies to you is even worse. Even though food is good, I think I will look for another Venezuelan restaurant instead
Definitely recommend you check it out your self
The food is incredible, the customer service is the worst Latin food I know, I have been several times and it is always just as terrible
Eng/Spa very disappointed in my visit to the restaurant! I felt robbed! I went with a friend to have lunch at the restaurant, I ordered an arepa plus a drink and some appetizers, everything was going well until they brought us the bill, my mistake was not checking the bill. The waiter brings me the dataphone and he shows me the machine to give the tip, which I give 18%. Seeing that my bill was over $50 CAD I was curious why they didnt give me the bills, I check the bill and there is something called Gratuity and I ask the waiter and he tells me that the tip is already included in the bill. Therefore, the waiter charged me twice the tip with full intention and hiding information to keep the 33% tip. At the end I asked the waiter and he told me yes, that for the next occasion he was going to say it, with all the impudence in the world, almost mocking me to my face. very disappointed in my visit to the restaurant! The lady who served me was super rude, she told me with a bad face that it was a Venezuelan restaurant and not a Colombian one, I told her that I knew that perfectly because I am Venezuelan (And its not like being Colombian was a bad thing for her to talk to me that way). When paying, they dont let you see the bill, they simply point the machine at you so you can pay and they include the tips without asking even though the service was terrible, because they mixed up our orders. And most importantly, the food was not good. The quality of the products is very lacking, the cheese in the cachapas is super dry, the tequeños are not juicy, they add cheddar cheese to the arepa, and the portions are considerably small compared to the price. What a disappointment.
The best food in the city of Toronto . The taste of the food is excellent. Their prices are really good and they serve a lot of food . For anyone that visits Toronto must stop here to enjoy their excellent food.
The food is delicious but it seems somewhat illogical to me that if you are eating at the restaurant and you finish the small bottles of sauce and order more, they would want to charge you for it.
Excellent!
hefty arepas :)
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.
Delicious Venezuelan food
Food is good. Nevertheless, they include mandatory tips in the bill without asking, and also prompt you to tip again with the machine. This is highly unethical. Also, my friend ordered a Wilcha for takeout, and it had missing ingredients (sweet plantains). Considering not coming back.
Good food
My family had told me about this place some time ago, and agreeing to go on a weekday was complicated, however it was worth it, my mother had called before but we still arrived at 8pm and still The entire menu was available, everything was very delicious and the service was very pleasant and friendly from both the owner and the server. I ordered a guava juice which I honestly found small but we had such a good time that I overlooked it. The cachapa llanera was my favorite, we tried tequeños, pastelitos, arepa, cachapas, salsitas, quesillo and its respective frescolita, and we even bought a paisa-type cheese that is perfect on the grill at a very affordable price. I would return and recommend!
Yesterday, I went to grab a cachapa. The server was not welcoming at all. I ordered a cheese one because Im vegetarian. When I was almost done, I found a piece of meat in it. The worst part wasnt the mistake itself, but the servers response: Ill let them know. I work in the industry too, and its not professional to give customers that kind of answer. Mistakes happen, but what bothered me most was her lack of respect.
All around great spot. I ve had pretty much the whole menu on 3 visits now. Cachapas are like no other, although I haven t had the fresh cheese that isn t allowed into Canada which I hear is a must so let s lobby on that cheese !!!
Food is good, service ok. Oh and gratuity(tip) is included in your bill so be aware because they will still ask you to tip again on debit/credit terminal
Great food, great service!! I love it
Love this place , food Is soo delicious!!!! 100 % recommended , the flavor it will blow your mind!!!
Expensive but large portions and tasty!
They posted on social media and google their hours are 2-9. I came at 2:35 while I was in front of the store I called because it was locked and I can see the person rejecting the calls after knocking on the door she came out and very rude said that they re not open that if I wanted a service maybe at 4
Eating here helped me remember the good times in Venezuela. The food is excellent but the fat mans attention was the best.
Read until the end! Not everything is good! Super cute place! The delicious food. It was my first time eating Venezuelan food and the place had already been highly recommended to me! I ordered a cachapa with meat and avocado that killed me because it was so delicious! The size is super good, quite big. And a delicious arepa! Just one detail, the service of the waitresses, one of the girls was super cute and kind to us! The other NO, she rushed us to order because we had a certain time to order, eat and leave and clear the table for next customers! In the first place that is not done! 2nd there was no line of people to enter the restaurant to eat, and why rush the customers if you have inside? Third, I am consuming and I am going to pay them, they are not doing me a favor nor are they giving me anything! Am I the one doing them the favor of going and consuming so that they want to kick me out before ordering? Check your staff that providing good service is also unconditional.
Delicious and big portions make it worth paying for a plate of around $22
I am not sure if I had expectations of original venezuelan taste of the food and they are trying to adjust to canadians (?) But the food was not to the standard. The meat was very dry, the cachapas didnt have the expected sweetness, tequeños
Good food! Great service! Thanks!
I dont recommend anyone visit that place!! What a horrible experience. My partner and I traveled 3 hours exclusively to eat there. I am a Colombian lover of Venezuelan food and I felt discrimination in that place. The owner is a very unempathetic person, she speaks to all the staff with shouts, I paid for 2 dishes and a starter $120 CAD including the service which apparently is mandatory because they dont ask you. As we leave, she comes over to clear the table and asks us where we are from. I politely answer that we are from Colombia, to which she makes a face and says rightly so, because we Venezuelans dont eat like that. I guess he was referring to the fact that we didnt finish some empanadas that we ordered as an appetizer since it was more dough than the filling that they brought, in short I was paying for my dish regardless of whether I managed to finish it or not. Im never coming back!!!
Without cheese, with cheese, with the cheese inside, with the cheese outside, with avocado, without avocado.... eat it however you want... they are ufff...
Title: Disappointing experience at Restaurante Gordo Ex: Scam with tips and bad service My recent visit to Restaurante Gordo Ex was a deeply disappointing experience. Despite the quality of the food, my enjoyment was marred by terrible service and a tip rip-off practice that I cannot ignore. From the moment we entered, we were greeted by a sour attitude from the waitress, whose facial expression remained impassive like that of a fish. Their attention to us was rude and disinterested, leaving us feeling like we were more of a nuisance than customers. The most outrageous thing happened when receiving the bill. To our surprise, we realized that we had been charged a 15% tip without being informed beforehand. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and reveals a clear intention to deceive customers. When we tried to pay, the terminal insisted on asking for an additional tip screen, which confirmed our scam suspicions. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to impose mandatory tipping, especially when the service provided is so poor. The fact that we were not informed of this policy and ended up tipping extra due to lack of clarity is completely unfair. In short, while the food at Restaurante Gordo Ex may be tasty, the entire experience is marred by woeful service and dishonest tipping practices. I strongly recommend other customers to be aware of these issues and not visit this scam establishment.

My recent dining experience at Gordo X was rather disappointing. While the food itself was satisfactory, the overall experience was marred by the unfriendly and dismissive attitude of the staff. Every question I posed seemed to be met with irritation, as if I was inconveniencing them by seeking clarification or assistance. Adding to the frustration was the lack of transparency regarding the gratuity. There was no indication whatsoever that a 15% tip had already been included in the bill. Imagine my surprise when, upon settling the bill, the payment machine prompted me to add an additional tip. This misleading practice not only left a sour taste in my mouth but also tarnished the restaurants reputation in my eyes. In summary, while the food may have been palatable, the overall experience was marred by the unprofessional behavior of the staff and the lack of transparency regarding tipping policies. I would hesitate to return or recommend this establishment to others until such issues are addressed.

Very bad dog, poor workers service 0
Center of Self Self of Mexico Mexico of North America Slow as hell Food : 3/5 |
Great Venezuelan food restaurant, amazing service and good price. Cachapas, arepas, empanadas, tequeños, fruit juice, sweets Vegetarian options: Arepas and cachapas filled with cheese, bean, plantain or avocado
Great food and friendly staff.
They charge a 15% gratuity without notice and then pass you the Machine to pay, prompting you to tip again. Never seen this anywhere else in Canada. Shameful. Will never eat there again.
I was charged an auto gratuity of 18% on my bill and then prompted to tip on the machine again, which I did. Only after I realized and asked was I was told that there was an auto gratuity applied on my bill. My bill was never presented to me b/c I paid at the counter. Am very disappointed by this and was not offered a refund. The food was delicious but I will never come back.
Cute place, good snacks but overall not worth it. Juice is not fresh
We approached the establishment at 08:15pm and the lady who was sitting at a table who seemed to be the owner got up in a bad manner and told us that during Christmas hours the kitchen is closed, it seems that they make a lot of money and that we were A good group but right in front you catch the bus that leaves you in Sant Clair and where you will have more places with Latin food that will treat you better.
1st time having Venezuelan food. Tasty. I found it to be a bit over expensive for the meal we got.
We were the second customers in the restaurant, a big group of people arrived after we ordered, and I think they were friends with the owners because even though they arrived and ordered after us, ALL of their food came first, our order took over 50 minutes to arrive. Also, be aware that there is a 15% mandatory fee that they charge, with no warning whatsoever.
Food is good but the service can be better. The waitress was very rude and bad attitude. :(
I felt totally discriminated against by the waitress who served us. He told us that there was a minimum consumption to be able to occupy the table and that if more people came he should ask me to leave the place. I ordered just an appetizer and empanada since there werent many things I wanted on the menu. My bill was $25 dollars. The most horrible experience ever. The server told the there is a minimum of food and beverage if I want to use the table. If I dont achieve the minimum she will kick me out as soon as the restaurant starts to be busy. My bill was $25 because some of the meals on the menu were sold out.
Worse customer service PLUS they add tips without asking first. I complained and she said she could remove it and still she charged it at the end. Didn t complain anymore BUT charging tip without notice even when complaining about it is ilegal and STEALING. Sin vergüenzas.
Hours need to be updated. We love this place so much but it is super bad that we rented a car to go out with our baby and it said open and it is closed
We drove over an hour to get to the restaurant only to find it was closed at 7:45pm when the Google hours said they closed at 9pm and were open that day. I had to find another Latin restaurant since I was starving. Make sure you call ahead of time to make sure they are open. Seems like they make their own hours.
First experience was a bad one. Arrived 12:30pm on a Saturday (no line-up yet). Ordered one arepa ($19) and one cachapa ($20). Waited ONE HOUR for food. One table arrived after us and were gone before we ate. Server apologized. They just reopened and were not fully staffed (OK, I guess, but handled very poorly). Had we known the cachapa was a problem at time of ordering, we could have adjusted. The food was fine. Not exceptional. The steak in my arepa was full of gristle, and the cheese was not grilled as stated on menu. Expected more for the money. Sadly wont be back and cannot recommend.
I dont live in Toronto but the few times Ive been there, they are closed, even if they are supposed to be open according to their operating hours.
Terrible customer service. We ordered ahead over the phone to find out after we got there that there was no chicken. Just disappointing service and to top it off, I still got charge full price for an arepa that did not have chicken since they didn t have it. Rude staff including owner. Won t be coming back.
The best! It was the attention of the waiter! Excellent out of 10 , the food in general with neutral seasoning, we ordered pabellon, chicken and ground beef empanada, fried yuca and sweet plantains with cheese but the cheese WAS ALMOST NOT SEEN ANYWHERE. The papelón with Lemon I do not recommend it, for my palate it tastes like tap water and artificial preparation, the accompanying sauces are quite diluted, the guasacaca with full vinegar. Come on, they tell me that everything is adapted to their clientele that is not entirely Venezuelan, and that is why they do that. Well, Im sure that maybe things will go better that way...
Was not impressed with the portion and food quality for the price. Staff is very nice however
The schedules are never accurate I ve gone three(3) times and the schedule says their open but they re not. Waste of time.
They food is good, the service is okay not the best but the worst part and reason why I m only giving 2 stars is because they have a schedule posted on google and is not accurate to their schedules, I ve gone about 3 times at a reasonable time not to late nor to early and it is always closed, I ve also spoke to other people and the same thing has happened to them, it is really inconvenient to drive their for nothing. One more thing about it is they aromatically add the tip without you being able to choose but at no point during their service do they let you know the tip is included, so when it comes to paying pay attention so you don t tip twice.
The waitress forgot our appetizers. 15 min later, we told her: what happened with our appetizers? And she said: oh! They re just coming out. 10 min later, we received the appetizers. The cachapa was good. We ordered churrasco and it was a little tough. The knife available was not the best for cutting the meat. They should ve provided a better knife for this plate. Finally, they added the gratuity(18%) in the card terminal automatically. We didn t feel satisfied with the service, so we asked to set up the terminal again in order to choose the gratuity. Then she added the gratuity again, without asking us. It felt rude. Unfortunate experience.
My wife and I decided try some Venezuelan food for our first time....one word to describe the experience is....Incredible. 10/10 on food and 10/10 on service. I cant stop thinking about the food and not to mention the tres leches cake....out of this world. Highly recommend!!
Service was excellent!
The places smell bad like and not at all friendly, I dont know the smell doesnt let me order guacatela food
Quality food, and made with love.
Outstanding, as usual. Alex surprised us with a patio he managed to arrange in the back of the restaurant to deal with the current COVID-19 situation, and it was so nice. Needless to talk about the food, always huge portions, delicious taste and decent price. I had an empanada de cazón, it was more a cazón with empanada, so tasty and abundant was the filling. A special thank you note for Sebastian, who went above and beyond to welcome us, serve our food in a corteous and professional manner. Thank you Alex, that is why we keep coming back!
Top 3 cachapas in the world!!! And this includes Venezuela
I loved getting a Venezuelan food restaurant, each dish was made with the same Creole seasoning, the cachapa llanera with cheese, meat and avocado, ufff everything was too delicious, 100% recommended.
That is shame a really nice restaurant to be attended for unprofessional people and the owners are to greedy with consumers that is shame of those owners who are disrespectful with there workers that try to dj there job I went to eat something with my family and and the beginning the owner star not attending us properly and at the end the bill came with 18% of tip obrigatory that was not pleasant thing to have after lunch
The food was very good!!! However the waitress was not friendly at all. A bit rude at the beginning I must said, like she was on a rush for us to order, which I don t know why because we were the only table at the restaurant, and she was on her cellphone anyways. I hope she was just having a bad day, because if that s the way she is, she should not be in this industry. Let s just say her attitude was not very welcoming. And then on top of that, she added her own tip in the bill when she passed me the machine to pay with my credit card. I guess she knows already that people doesn t tip her well, and perhaps that s why she does it. That was very rude! She should know that tips are not obligatory! I mean at least if you are going to do that, have a smile on your face and a better attitude. Next time I ll just order there through Uber eats, but for sure I will not come back there for dining in.
12/10 food oh my god
Ordered the Del Llano. Was alright, kind of dry, and got tired of eating towards the end because it was fairly big.
I arrived at 2:05 pm today, Friday, and the store is supposed to open at 2:00 pm. I waited for more than 15 minutes for them to open, there was a girl in the kitchen who acted crazy the entire time. We were 4 people outside waiting in the rain. They never opened. He literally ignored us. I also tried calling the contact number they have and they never answered. What a lack of respect for the client.
Obsessed! Weve done both, order in and take out and its always perfect. Theres no food like Venezuelan food!
The food is very delicious, but the attention is very bad. If you are Venezuelan and you are waiting to talk to your countrymen, forget it, this is not the place. Travel from Vancouver my daughter and I hoped to share with other Venezuelans. The food is very delicious, but the service is very bad. Best arepas in town, look at the size, and the flavours are an explosion in my mouth Dietary restrictions: Amazing for gluten allergies
The truth is that it is the first time that I have had a bad experience, but I think that the food should be prepared. In this example, the meat is served as the customer requests it, not as the chef considers appropriate... in. Conclusion 3/4 meat very red. And a dissatisfied customer.. I hope they improve
Friendly, Professional and Tasty
Food was delicious. We had empanadas, cachapas and beef criollo. It tasted like I was in Venezuela, I will definitely be coming back. Parking: You can park right in front Kid-friendliness: My son is very picky but he loved the chicken empanadas and asked me to come back here again. The empanadas are very good and well stuffed.
Very delicious food and big portions. You re getting a good value for money. The patio in the back is super cute and cozy.
Great spot for arepas! one of the best I have tried! Cant wait to go back!
Great Aprepas
Excellent food. Excellent service
It was the worst Venezuelan food restaurant I have ever been to, the person who served us didnt know anything about the menu (ripe plantain patacón), the wait was 1 hour and 40 minutes, I dont recommend it at all It has been the worst Venezuelan food restaurant I have ever been to, the person who served us knew absolutely nothing about the menu (patacón de plantain Maduro), the wait was 1 hour and 40 minutes, I do not recommend it at all
Excellent food. Years going and it gets better and better. Big portions. Good attention.
Undisclosed Mandatory Tip Warning Food was food, but I would have appreciated being notified that a mandatory gratuity is imposed regardless of the size of the party (we were just 2). Food : 3/5
The best !!
The arepas are great !!
Very good food
The waiting time is very long
They are very irresponsible, they always set a time that they are going to open and they open late. I went to the El Venezolano restaurant.
The visit to the super special place, they make you feel as if you were visiting a relative in Venezuela, the food has excellent flavor and super good quantity, you will surely be full! Thank you Don Alex and staff.
Im from Colombia, I give them a 100 rating, the food is very tasty, everything is very good.
Showed up at 3pm on a Tuesday to order 5 arepas for me and my staff and the restaurant was closed. The gentleman inside couldn t bother coming to the door to explain why. I m glad I drove 30 minutes in the rain to try these arepas.
The food was very good, but the attention of someone called The owner leaves a lot to think about... for my part and that of my group we will not return again, arrogance wins over that lady and her service, and sometimes they judge badly to clients without even knowing who they are, a serious mistake.
Amazing, clean, small restaurant with brilliant food. Its like eating at a friends house. Great portions, reasonably priced. My new favorite downtown restaurant!
Excellent Ill go again
I took my Columbian partner here, and he was presently surprised at how authentic the arepas rellena tasted. His was quite good. However, I cant remember the name. I got one with pork and chicken. I would get the reina next time as I found the pork quite dry. Otherwise, it was pretty delicious. The empanada and tequeños were also very tasty. The server was pleasant, and theyd hosted the look done since Id been there last.
The food is not bad but the service is terrible, hygiene is not their strong point, I saw how they received money from someone else and then handled my food with dirty hands. / The food is not bad but the service is lousy, hygiene is not their strength, I saw how they received money from someone else and then handled my food with dirty hands.
GET EVERYTHING
Can t believe I drove 30mins to check this place out and was excited to order from there since it said they were open & get shocked that they are closed! Update your hours like for real, super annoyed to be honest.
It s close at least take the time to update your page.
the girl who works as a cashier is very rude and acts weird all the time
I have never been so fascinated with any food as I am with Venezuelan food. However, this place is so tasty and famous, I dont understand why the location is so small? A few more little tables wouldnt hurt, and I would gladly visit them with all my friends. Amazing food and staff. The location is tiny but the food is worth it. Update 5 years later: Still love this place, but their hours never match. Google says one thing, their Instagram says another, and then they advertise a different thing in their IG stories. It takes me 45min by car to get there, so I need to plan my trip.
Delicious food and gracious service
Gordo Ex makes some truly amazing food. I ve yet to be disappointed. My go to s are arepas, and tajadas abuella. Always delicious.
Best Venezuelan food in town. Flavourful and tasty. However the staff is not the friendliest. The attention could be way better.
I am born in Venezuela. Finally I found it and I grab to owe eating food
The attention of one of the waitresses was very inappropriate, very rude and with a very unprofessional attitude. I didnt like it at all and I wouldnt recommend it, the food was very average and a little greasy, it doesnt show the true Venezuelan flavor.
Extremely long 1:30 hours for nothing Not good Very expensive I don t recommend it to you
The soup was divine, it brings back memories of home.... And the cachapa, spectacular. And not to mention the empanadas... The service is very good..
Love The venezuelan dish Cachapa!
The food is so delicious. The shredded beef cachapas with cheese are delicious and the cheese sticks are super delicious. And the attention is great. Thank you
Empanadas are crunchy and flavourful and the sauces they come with are perfect pairings. Looking forward to my next visit!
Always a great experience. Best Venezuelan food in the city. Today had the pabellón and a carne molida empanada. Highly recommended. They also make great hallacas for Christmas.
Delicious. Best service, great food. 10/10 experience!
Buen queso, pero algo desabrido. El patacon solo trae proteina, 0 autentico. Y preparence para gastar 30 luks por persona. La atención sin embargo no es mala. PD. No volveré. Good cheese. The patacon only have proteins and I didnt consider it authentic. It is very expensive for its presentation and get ready to pay 30 bugs per person. It has a good service tho. PD. I wont come back. Sorry.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! Terrible customer service and totally overpriced. Staff are rude and arrogant. No concept as to how to run a restaurant and not deserving of your patronage.
Amazing experience. Nothing short of exquisite. I am a native Venezuelan from Caracas. Here is my suggestion if its your first time visiting the restaurant Drinks: Papelón, Malta Appetizers: Tequeños, Tostones playeros Entrée : Arepas : Reina Pepeada Pabellón Cazón Empanadas: Pabellón Dessert : Très Leche ! The rest of the food is also great, but this would be a nice introduction
Delicious, hearty food and wonderfully warm staff at this lovely neighborhood restaurant. The kids loved the empanadas, arepas, and the cilantro sauce so much they almost finished the whole bottle of it!
Even the water is tasty, that says it all. 100% recommended! My 11 month old baby ate all the ground meat in the empanada and licked his fingers. Many blessings for Ex Gordo
Gordo EX cafe is not a cafe. Its not even a restaurant. Its a portal that transports you to the heart of Latin America. This really is a true Latin place. The food is amazing and the taste is closer to the original than any other restaurant Ive been so far. The pabellon is delicious as well as the patacon llanero. Even if youre not latinx you should taste the amazing flavours. Well come back to taste the desserts.
The food is sooooo good! It is just go back home and feel the touch of mom and grandma in every dish . Thanks for the great experience.
Excellent place to experience the latinamerican food, mainly Venezuelan dishes, highly recommended.
Good place to eat, good service. Very tasty Venezuelan food.
Excellent
We had the La Vianda main and the La Reina Pepiada in the Arepas. Both were really well made, tasty, and were very healthy portions. We did take away, however, looking forward to going back to eat at the patio. The staff were very welcoming and extremely nice.
Good food, delicious empanadas and tequeños
Very pleasant environment, staff at your service, affordable and authentic Venezuelan and Colombian cuisine. A very good address in Toronto!
BEST VENEZUELAN FOOD IN TORONTO. The portions are huge! And the price is fair
Siempre super delicioso. Reliably great Venezuelan food, love the variety of dishes and how everything is made fresh to order. Always miss it when Im away!
I ve been coming here for years. It s always delicious.
Excellent attention. Very good Cachapa
Great food but understaffed.
The Food was good however the arepa said it had avocado and it didn t come with any, the waiter was very rude and didn t even mention why there was infringements missing off the dish. I wouldn t go back to a place with this poor service
Luis, our server was great! Their seafood platter was so good but what I really liked that night was their cachapa and soup!!! going back!
Great food, good staff. The place is a bit small, so better be there early. Although Terrible manager. Idk if they change the original one, but the actual manager is gonna wreck this friendly business because he is rude and disrespectful with staff and customers
Really disappointed. My wife our baby and myself went to have breakfast and one of the waitress told us that empanadas are not consider to be consumed in the restaurant so if someone comes in and ordered and plate we will must leave the table for them. i mean we ordered 8 empanadas plus drinks with the intention to order more stuffs and we paid 50 bucks that isnt cheap at all. Anyways all this was just for someone that they knew and dont have a table available for them. Needs more costumer service training for the staff there. I usually like this place but every-time me or my friends went there have something negative to said. I hope this will help to create proper manners and best way to deal with costumers.
Great food ,good taste, good service.
Massive Venezuelan style arepas loaded with amazing selections...
The chicken in the pepiada queen arepa was raw and boney, the service was too slow and rude and they added 20% in tips without even asking.
Incredible.
My favorite arepas in Toronto...but everything else is also delicious! Great food and great prices!
I got the avocado, beef, cheese and tomato area. It was a hefty size and filling! It was expensive but the ingredients are fresh and tasty. Its sometimes hard to justify spending $20 on one flavour but this arepa was delicious! The beef was tender and the cheese as well as the arepa bread part textures were so complementary. I also got the cane sugar drink and that was very refreshing.
Kid-friendliness: Nice staff and lovely atmosphere Food
The best sancocho in all of Canada. Customer service 10/10. They make you feel at home.
Amazing food! Monster arepa was full of pork and chicken. Service was great. I love coming back to Gordo Ex. Best of the best!
Great food, one of the best Arepas in GTA.
We traveled from far away to eat here, the restaurant was closed they never answered the calls. We sent a message on Facebook and they ignored us, on all their platforms it said that you were open and nothing. Very bad service and no professionalism. From what I see in the other reviews, a lot happens and they havent done anything to improve that situation. Terrible.
Delicious. Great price point for the big sites served. Dont over order appetizers are super filling
Very rude staff.
If you have a baby and need to bring the stroller, dont even bother coming here. The restaurant was completely empty, we were the very first customers of the day, and we were told quite rudely that unless we had a compact stroller we couldnt stay. So I guess I wont be back any time soon.
Excellent Venezuelan food restaurant in Toronto.
The service hours are updated, I am selling from North York and see that it is closed, they should update the hours
Delicious food , really good price and their service was exceptional. If you are looking for some authentic Venezuelan food , you must go to this place
Stumbled upon this great spot. The food was amazing. The staff lovely. Highly recommend a visit.
Thanks you!
Its a shame to give this restaurant a star without trying it, this is the second time we drove 2 hours to eat there and it closes at 2pm. Unpredictable. :( It is a shame to rate one star to a restaurant without even trying it, but this is the second time we drive 2 hours to eat there and the place is closed at 2pm. Unpredictable and unprofessional!
Very good!
This restaurant is a joke. We got to the restaurant because their working hours showed they were open until 7pm Sunday, we got there at 6:20 and lights were out, and no one was home. This has happened multiple times in the past few years. We have tried to go 5 times and 3 times of those times we haven t been able to get in because they re closed, when they were supposed to be open. If you have working hours then you work those hours. You don t make up your own hours and make customers drive 40 mins just to turn around and go home. What a joke of an establishment this place is.
Tasty!
I was left with the desire to eat tasty food. We were turned away from the door at 8:30 pm because the kitchen was closed. There were 4 of us. I suggest updating the profile schedule on Google. Thank you
Good taste of real Venezuelan food, only issue was the Cachapa wasnt fully cooked on one of the side but they were so kind and offer us another one and give us discount on our meal.
A neighborhood treasure! Very glad we stumbled randomly upon this place. Homely spot with amazing food. The arepas are what this place is apparently known for and they were delicious and VERY filling. The staff is also very kind and patient in helping us choose what meals to get. Highly recommend.
Phenomenal! The food was great and our server was the nicest. The best Venezuelan food Ive had in Toronto
Tasty food! I love cachapas!!
We crossed three cities to eat at this restaurant and first we made sure of the Opening hours on Instagram and Google! They didnt open and of course there is no one to answer the phone, much less a post on their social networks explaining the situation! Very bad thing that they play with peoples time, gasoline and even parking costs!
Top-notch Venezuelan attention.
The service is amazing! Food is delicious! 100% recommended
Would give this place the perfect five stars but unfortunately I haven t had the opportunity to dine in yet and this experience solely based on takeout but the arepas are the best in the GTA no questions asked. There s lots of new Venezuelan spots coming up but this place makes the best arepas I have ever tried and I have had a good few places. What stands apart here is the quantity and the freshness of the ingredients. Shoutout to the chef keep up the good work and hopefully everyone decides to try this place. I have only had one arepa here but the LA LLANERA arepa is da bomb!
Bad customer service. Food was okay.
We go here often and recommend it to everyone! We always get the arepas (which are massive here!) and tequeños. Super tasty, authentic food, great for takeout or dine in.
Food was great and large portion sizes for empanadas.
The most delicious Arepas and traditional Venezuelan food. Best Cachapas ever. Do not miss the Tequeños and a Papelon con Limon
This restaurant is just fenomenal! 100% Recommend it for all people who wants to try Latin Food in the GTA
The best dishes of Venezuelan cuisine are found at GORDO EX Cafe. Super recommended.
