Informal Vietnamese outfit dishing up banh mi & noodle soups in a simple dining room.
This place is not for me. Having said that, It's nice to see food choices that are open early (0900). Would I come back? No. Would I recommend? No. Food: For our visit, we ordered Canh Kho Qua w/ pork brisket & Bun Bo Hue. Portions are adequate, but the taste was bland for both IMO. Service: Warm & friendly, we were the only sit down customer that morning at around 10:00. Greeted with a smile, and they recommended some dishes from the menu, though no follow-up service after the initial greeting. Atmosphere: The place is definitely overdue for some good dusting & uncluttering, overall feeling neglected. Items that are no longer available on the menu & price changes are covered by tape, utensils & condiments are missing from tables, spider webs are clealy visible on some ceiling & plants.
The food was very delicious, the broth of the pho was so flavourful I’m in looove😍, would definitely come back!
Had the bánh cuốn (rice noodle roll with a ground pork and wood ear filling)—it was great! :)
Great food at a very reasonable prices. We tried their soup and banhi mi
Went on Tuesday for lunch and was one of the few places where you can grab a meal that's not closed in Chinatown. The owners greeted us immediately and offered suggestions to try. Another reviewer complained about no AC but it was perfectly fine inside on a hot 28°C day and we had to move as the table we originally sat was underneath the AC unit and was too cold. We chose the house special pho and came about 10 minutes later with usual garnishes. The garnishes were fresh and crisp. The noodles were from freshly made and not from rehydrated batches. We overheard a story of someone complimenting them on the freshness and delicious noodles compared to other pho places nearby. I have to agree. On that note, I haven't been to many places nearby recently but check their photos, you can see how oily the broth is. Now take a look at my bowl and you can see how my broth looks "clean" as we call it. The broth had a lot of colour and richness without any of the crazy amount of fat. There was another reviewer complaining about lack of seasoning and star anise and the broth tasted what a good broth should taste like. Yes I finished my bowl down to the last drop. The bowl size was large and everyone was full and enjoyed their meal. Throughout the meal other folks came in to buy from the counter or sandwich takeout and were happily greeted and served quickly. The complaints from others about decor and tables being literally tacky are in each person's perspective. I remember a long time ago, one of the first pho 88 opened 5 stores down and they had the most sticky tables but wonderful pho. I eat from the bowls and not off the tables so I suggest using the napkins if the table bothers you. From someone else complaining about pests, I didn't see any on my two visits and nothing suggested anyone was being unhygienic. It is Chinatown after all, so if you're that worried, then you can try cooking at home. The decor/design is functional, and no comment on restrooms as I didn't use them. Again I want to pay for the pho and service, and not for faux-elegance of fine dining. The pho-elegance of the bowl is all you need. It is cash only but can accommodate e-transfer. I recommend picking up a bag of pepper buns Hújiāo Bǐng / Bánh Tiêu on your way out as they were fresh, soft and not oily at all.
Shrinkflation! So sad! What has become of the cold cut bahn mi at this joint? All bread, barely any meat or toppings. Still super friendly service as always. Don't get me wrong, the bread is really great but I am still hungry.
Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! Banh It Tran - When I'm craving some Vietnamese street food, these places have me covered. Whether it's giant mochi balls stuffed generously with mung beans and minced pork, the wrapper is made with glutinous rice flour for a satisfying, chewy texture. Served with a sweet fish sauce and topped with scallion oil and fried onions for an extra kick in aromas too. Banh Cuon - wrapper is paper thin, but sticks together and breaks easily. The minced pork is seasoned with black pepper with crispy onions on top and woodear inside.
Came to try their bun rieu as i heard good things. It was ok, very mild in flavour. I give them a one star because I saw a large cockroach on the table 20 minutes into my meal, and i see a similar review recently as well. I cant imagine getting a banh mi where the ingredients are laid out all day, but needless to say im not coming back.
Great prices for banh mi! And owner is super efficient and friendly :)
Wonderful owners and delicious, affordable food Food
The lady is so nice. An absolute gem. Had delicious banhmi! Will come back for the special crab soup
Great little Vietnamese banh mi place.
Had cold cut sandwich with SM special pho. Great combination at a great price! If Im ever in area again will be back to try other recommendations like the bun rieu Food : 5/5
My trio would definitely come back, the food was so good, I definitely liked the sandwich and the pho. WE RATE IT 11/10
The food was really good and the staff was kind. Vegetarian options: The lemongrass tofu banh mi was really good. Food : 5/5 |
Must try Ban?
I went in on a Sunday afternoon & asked for something a little specific off the menu. Jessica was a sweetheart and accommodated for me. She was so sweet and the broth I was served was authentic & delicious. Thank you Jessica! If you want an authentic home cooked viet meal this is it!
The lady there is so nice and polite. She builds personal connections with the guests which is really nice. The taste of banh mi is good and it is cheap compared to other banh mi places.
Very good pho!
Just what we were looking for Jessica, thank you so so much for bringing us back to the streets of Vietnam with your BanhMi and broth the perfect bread, veg and protein one complimented by the other. All this with your hospitality, you will be seeing us again, because I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship We will see you again
The pho was the best I ve ever had. Perfect flavor that had a great balance of depth and spices. The vermicelli was great as well. And the staff was very friendly and they gave us tips on which sauces they recommended with everything. I highly recommend.
A great mom-n-pop place with excellent home style food.
Authentic food and people
I really wanted to like this place. I want to support small local places. Usually, I go to Bahn Mi Nguyen Huong around the corner. Alas, I was a little too late today and saw this place as a good option. Unfortunately, I was misled. It really isnt good value for money anymore as other reviewers have noted. The Bahn Mi is $6 so $0.50 more expensive than the other place. However, the bread is smaller, the filling is exceedingly skimpy and really flavourless. I got the default cold cut and it was very mid. I wouldnt recommend this place at all when others exist in the same block.
One of the worst banh mis that Ive ever had in my life. Bread was stale, and the fillings were terrible, and it was tasteless. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone. Dont know how this place is still in business.
Come here often, its my go to place! Best bbq pork ever! Its so good, I usually get two, and one for later, perfect to take along if youre going to island or park for afternoon, sandwich tastes amazing even, The buns are the best in the city. Cant say enough good about them!!!
Quaint little shop. The chicken banh mi I had for 6 CAD was not worth it in my opinion as there was very little chicken filling.
It used to be my go to place a few years ago - unfortunately it has fallen off, the stench in the place was unbearable - the food looked old and drab. I would not go their again until they revamp the place and take care of the god awful smell.
Sandwich was very thin in comparison to other banh mis I ve had. Very friendly and sweet lady though and liked her service. :)
I ve been trying to find a comparable pho place since my favourite pho place on Gerrard closed down and this place comes pretty close to it. The broth is rich with no MSG, the noodles are perfectly cooked and they don t use the extra thick foamy expanding ones that some other places in the area use. Some other positives about this place: - opens at 9am which is earlier than other restaurants in the area - provides main brand Sriracha instead of the knockoff brand ones. Hard to find a place that still invests in this nowadays!! The owner (Jessica) who works there is really sweet and made my visit experience there better, I ll definitely be back!
Best Vietnamese restaurant I ever ate, perfect service, very cheap too. Im usually a 0% tips person but this made me give a 20%
By far the best banh mi and warmest souls around. The mini bagettes rock and so does the nam (marinated pork patties). Wheelchair accessibility: tiny bump easy to push over; I didnt use the washroom so dont know about that
The interior of this establishment is not well kept. The window counter top sticky, the small tables sticky. I almost walked out but... i wanted to try a bahn mi and a pho... the other reviews seemed so optimistic... I had a tofu lemon grass and it was great. The bread had a nice crunchy crust and the filling is delicous. The beef pho i had was abit of a let down. The beef was fine, condiments fine, and the accompanying finely sluced onion, basil etc,... fine. But the broth they made that day is missing star anise. I couldnt taste it at all, and im sure there were some other ingredients either missing or used in very small amounts. I would go there again for take out sandwiches BUT with pho pasteur across the street, im not having pho there again, ever. And 15$ for that pho was, well, not worth it IMO.... if yu dont believe me, try pho hung, pho pasteur, saigon lotus (vegetarian...) or any other noodle place in that part of town. and then you will have something to compare it to... Vegetarian options: Tofu based bahn mi...
Great service, great value for money
This place rocks
Good bahn mi here. Expect to pay in cash, and don t ask for a receipt. Great value for money, really decent food.
The Pho and Banh Mi here is delicious and very affordable! The lady who works here is the sweetest and honestly is the major reason I go back every week. She is always so kind and makes a wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant. Cannot recommend more, one of my fav Toronto spots!
Consistent delicious quality bites. Warm, cozy atmosphere. The lemongrass tofu banh mi is excellent! The pho is delicious. A true gem in the city and talk about affordable food thats made with love! Stop by and say hi to Jessica the sweet owner of the shop who will always greet you with a genuine welcoming smile and delicious food.
Very kind and friendly staff. Very affordable good quality food
+ All dishes were tasty + Friendly staff + Reasonable price - Chopsticks, spoons, tables, facilities were not clean overall
Welcoming & homey! And delicious banh mi!!
A cheap and cheerful place to grab a delicious and authentic Banh Mi. The lovely lady who prepared my sandwich was even kind enough to give me a break when I was a couple cents short on the bill. It is Cash Only, but given how good the food was, I wanted ensure I recommended this place.
I normally do not write reviews as I know it can hurt businesses. This could be an off day but I m rating this base on this ONE experience. Unfortunately, the banh mi I got was lacking (as you can see) there was barely any filling, the pate and butter wasn t even smear properly or even visible lol. As someone whom is Vietnamese, I would have expected them to atleast understand how another Vietnamese would appreciate their banh mi to be prepared. I hope this was really just an off day for them but needless to say, it was enough for me not to try them again.
If you want a place and food that feels like home this is the spot. They have very kind workers and the atmosphere feels cozy. I got the pleasure of having the beef pho and it was genuinely the best pho I ve had in my life, I ate it all in no time. I ll be returning
Best broth in the city, cinnamony and not heavy at all, the owner was extremely nice and accommodating, will definitely return!
If you go to Toronto for a vacation, you have to try this place We went through so many different Vietnamese Restaurants but this place have the best pho I ve ever had in my life!!! I had a Com Ph n for a person and my husband had a bowl of Pho, and let me tell you, ask for Pho for your first time and you will never disappointed about your decision. My husband, from the very beginning of trying to taste the soup, he was very supprise about how good a Pho can be. Then he made me try it and OMG, it s super gooddddd! We highly recommend this place to everyone that love Pho, also we will definitely be back for the next time when we return to Toronto!
Love their Pho!! Will be back soon
The special crab soup is a real treat!
Best bread
Cash only so be prepared. Low prices but delicious food! Banh Mi was great and so was the beef noodle soup!
Best chicken sandwiches make sure to get it heated
Missing a taste of home that not every place in Toronto can deliver. The auntie at the counter was friendly and warm with her killer viet iced coffee and stellar banh mi. Please ask her to toast it for you, and add some chili sauce for that extra tastiness. It tastes like banh mi I used to have on the way to school in Hanoi. Bún riêu s price inflated with inflation, but the core is still there - i love it. Overall classic and home felt Viet eatery that i would recommend. Cash only!
Pork BBQ Banh Mi Rice noodles are also delicious
Ok. This must be my first one star review. My pho was a 3/5 star and satisfactory. However right at the end of my meal a fricking cockroach scampered across the table. So I got up, paid and noped it immediately out of there. Not much else to say about it. Not coming back. You can see my photo for proof.
Didn t get any pictures but really delicious Vietnamese food for great prices! Got a few bánh mì which were all delicious. My mum is vegan and I had a bite of her tofu banh mi and it was super flavourful. We also got some sticky rice and various vietnamese rice cakes or bánh including bánh giò, bánh khúc which were very yummy and authentic. Tasted just like my grandma s!
One of the better viet restaurants to get banh mi and pho, and small location
Very good service & affordable. The meal was great and I really liked the iced coffee
Food
Very friendly staff and delicious pork banh mi!
Great Bread
Place to discover. Very welcoming interior decor, very neat and very clean despite a tagged storefront.
Best banh mi
Friendly service and wonderful fresh sandwiches with many different tasty meats. Very reasonable prices. We will be back!
Oh my sweet heavenly lightning lord. Was that a sandwich that hit the spot, the bread was amazing. The perfect amount of veggies to meat ratio, excellent flavour & spice! Can t wait for another BBQ Pork Banh-mi
Beautiful place and smiling owner. The same taste as in Vietnam. I recommend 100%!
Best Banh Mi downtown. Better than Nguyen Huong. The owner is super nice! There is also plenty of space to sit down. $6 includes tax for a banh Mi (as of 2023). Cash only.
Banh Mi, as it should be in my opinion. Cheap grab and go delicious sandwiches, which fill you up perfectly. People who have travelled, know exactly the type of establishment this is. I don t know about others, but I find this place peaceful. Lady working behind the counter(Jessica), is lovely. But you can t act pricy. $16 overpriced banhmi this is not. If you are afraid of cockroaches, perhaps you are not the target audience. Looking forward to their Pho on a cold morning as promised by the owner it s the best. She prefers cash, so ideal if you have that handy.
Note: Veggies were packed separately The amount of meat in the sandwich paled significantly compared to other Banh Mi shops in the area. $5.50 for the protein we received was way overpriced. There was barely any mayo or pate added which made the sandwich very dry overall. Would not come back.
A solid banh mi. The lady who runs it is very nice and will add extra veg or meat if you want.
Decent sandwich but I wouldve liked more in it
Very good, Number One! Food is so good taste super goodsee. People work here very nice yah is good. Sandwich number the best super good. Eats super. You come you are come to eats have very goodseee super you come. You bring lots of humans here to eats and you will enjoy.
Best pho around. Bahn mi too
Best Banh Mi in town. Friendly service and delicious food, keeps me coming back almost every weekend.
Best banh mi ive had. Try the tofu tomato banh mi, super unique and a special treat for me!
The best Vietnamese bánh mì in town!!! I was first super surprised then felt so lucky and satisfied for having the bánh mì that tasted exactly like the bánh mì I had in Vietnam. Thanks to the sweet mom-like ladies who work hard to deliver such authentic flavour. 45minutes sitting in the place felt quite like home, surrounded by all the little humble yet delicious Vietnamese snack that I could barely find them anywhere else in the city. Now I m thinking of moving to Toronto just so I can have bánh mì and talk to the ladies everyday!
I just bought a tofu banh mi and it tasted Really nice. The vegetable were fresh, the spice was good and you can get it toasted! I would come here again for a good healthy quick lunch!
Love this place--have been going for the last decade. They have amazing food, great owners, and fair prices. CASH ONLY. Check them out!
I keep forgetting to take a picture because Im always so excited for the banh mi! So far Ive only tried bbq pork and its so GOOD. $5.50 is so reasonable too!
A great local Vietnamese restaurant with an array of home cooked dishes that you won t always find at most restaurants. My favorite downtown banh mi shop. High quality cuts and of course amazing bread. I always ask for mine to be toasted and also a line of Maggie sauce. Their bun rieu is good and if you re looking for a traditional home cooked meal try to the rice combos.
Tasty chicken banh mi, I especially love their chili sauce at the table.
Banh mi was very tasty with butter and pâté. I must say it was the best I ever had outside of Vietnam. The bread was light enough and crispy. We tried different flavors and I prefer cold cut and meat loaf.
Delicious sandwiches for a cheap price!
I am so impressed with this place. Just visiting Toronto and ordered take out - ordered the bun rieu (Special Crab Soup w/ Vermicelli). IT WAS SO GOOD! It showed as popular on the Uber eats menu but now I completely get why. If you are a fan of bun rieu pls try this. You will not regret!
The owners were so kind and welcoming. Truly a little hidden gem for Banh mi !
Solid authentic Vietnamese food. I had the beef pho. Good quality but not outstanding. The service was not the best and it is cash only.
Very small restaurant, very friendly owner and the sandwiches were simply perfect. THANKS!
My most favorite one so far
Food was decent, I especially liked the steam rolls and bitter melon soup, would recommend!
NOT RECOMMEND - Craving for Banh mi and searched for the high rating Babh mi place near the AGO. 4.5? kidding or their quality has gotten bad? The baguette is cold and tough and meat was a bit smelly. The moment I saw a cockroach on the wall, I bin it and left.
The roasted banh mi is quite crispy, which I liked a lot. The meat (pork tripe) portion is a bit small, but hey, they only cost $6, so really I cannot complaint. Next time I will ask if they can add more meat for extra cost.
Another one of those cheap eats gems in china town. Cant beat this price tbh and sandwich was delicious. Cash only!
Quality banh mi offered here.
Affordable banh mi sandwiches. Sweet people working there. Classic hole in a wall
Ok, but not the best.
Liked the BBQ Pork Banh Mi, took me back to the Banh Mi I have had in Saigon!
One of the best Bahn Mi, authentic
I come here 2-3 times per week on my lunch break for the Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi! It s truly the best I ve ever had (and I ve lived in 3 cities with good Banh Mi) - the tofu is so juicy and flavourful. Plus, the service is very friendly! Definitely go!
Pho was average, however the owner is nice to greet you and smile. Only thing is the interior, outdated and not as clean as it can be. (Sauce bottles sticky, menus sticky,,) Overall hearty bowl of soup!
Unsanitary hole in the wall that serves powder coffee and has the audacity to charge $4 for it. Tried the banh mi too and would rather pay more for a better one elsewhere. Would not recommend.
Looking for an authentic banh mi, that isnt from Nguyen Banh mi down the street. This place is authentic, fresh bread and ingredients and extremely friendly staff.
Delicious and affordable banh mi here! I got the BBQ pork and the bread was perfectly toasted. Great service too, the owners are always cheerful and welcoming. Definitely returning to try the other flavours.
pho was delicious, service was lovely we will be coming back!
Enjoyed the beef pho. The broth is well made and it was great to eat on a rainy cold evening. The banh mi is good value and yummy. The owners are really nice, too!
It s very dirty restaurant. Washroom doesn t have paper towel or hand dryer. The food is very hard to eat. Noodles wasn t well - cooked . Order Spicy soup to go , but it not done like what I asked. No parking, Never come back again. Please, be cleaned to keep customers.
No nonsense Banh Mi. This is my favourite spot in the city for it both in terms of taste and price. Cash only so he prepared for that.
The ladies are grumpy af but great sandwhiches Edit: As of January 2021. Under new ownership. More Critiques to come...
Been coming to this spot for 10 years. Still the best sandwich shop in the city in my opinion! Affordable, delicious and a perfect snack to walk Kensington market with. Also the staff is amazing!
This place sells the best banh mi sandwiches in the GTA. A lot of other Vietnamese restaurants sell these sad miniature banh mi sandwiches that are disappointing in taste, portion size, and variety, and they often look like hot dog buns with a price higher than $10 (excluding drinks and side dishes). Banh Mi Ba Le isn t like those other places at all. The sandwiches are tasty, flavourful, and a decent meal-size portion. The prices are reasonable and they sell other menu items that complement the sandwich unlike places like banh mi boys. Try this place out, you wont regret it. And don t believe the hype with all those other chain shops in Toronto that try to sell similar food.
Banh mi is ok but the food court is not clean
I tried a different $5 banh mi on Yonge today and it sucked compared to this place. Ba le is where its at. I have only tried the lemongrass tofu, but its so perfect tasting that Ive yet to branch out and try anything else on the menu. The flavours are incredible and the bun tastes super fresh. Bring cash.
Best banh mi I ve had here. Tastes just like home!
I want to go buy a Vietnamese sandwich but they banh mi from going outside
Found another Banh Mi spot downtown and the bread is more French baguette style. It was crispy and light. The cold cut was very delicious and freshly prepared to order. Vietnamese sandwiches are way better than subways and more affordable ! Also they had tons of Vietnamese snacks available which are very nostalgic growing up. They had banh cuon, banh bao, and many more. Also have Noodle Soups - try out the Bun Bo Hue (BBH) which is a mild lemon grass broth with pork, sausage slices. and pork blood cubes (usually hard to find restaurants that adds this! It s very good).
delicious will come again
Decent place for some Banh Mis in the area
I love the tofu lemongrass. So yummy
Best sandwiches so good
Good Banh Mi and friendly people.
Incredible banh mi. Crispy but soft baguette, delicious bbq pork, and the spicy sauce is absolutely brilliant. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
This is not food
The best bahmi in chinatown, fresh and good value
I really enjoyed the lady that ran this place. It was delicious!!
tasty
Hands down one of my all time absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurants! authentic home cooked food, made with lots of love! Absolutely delicious! And owners are simply the sweetest! My favorite has to be their bitter melon soup combo with the pork ribs. Their pho is clean, simple, and flavorful. I like the size of their banh mi sandwiches, warm and toasty. Coffee is also great! Can t wait to come back!
Efficient service and competitively priced food.
My favourite spot for the old school banh mi.
Great little space , was quite at lunch. But warm broths and a great attitude from the staff who appeared to be the owners.. phò was great . And the Vietnamese iced coffee hit the spot. I had the grilled pork banh mi, it was Tasty and fresh. Definitely check it out. CASH ONLY
Excellent soups and sandwiches. They have special soups that other vietnamese restaurants rarely serve, which is nice (bún riêu, bún m m). These are very good and quite authentic. Tried the BBQ porc sandwich (bánh mì) and its also very tasty.
Hidden gem
Best banh in the city.
My go-to place for Banh Mi in downtown Toronto. Highly recommend.
been buying banh mi s from here for years, the quality hasn t changed. i love when they toast it. worker is such a sweet lady.
Its my comfort food place and Im not even Vietnamese. Though I fell in love with Vietnamese food after I had traveled there and their food is so good it brings back fond memories from that time. The banh mi is spot on and I love all the different flavours. I love the original the most but the tofu banh mi is also great. When I have time, I always get the crab meat soup and its an amazing hangover cure or very comforting and warming, which helps get through harsh winter in Toronto. The ladies there are welcoming and kind. One thing Im not happy about is they take cash only.
Best Banh Mi sub ive ever had. Super authentic and made with love. The lady there was super nice! Not to mention extremely affordable. Please never leave!
Hidden gem for getting authentic, cheap and delicious banh mi.
The banh mi was amazing... The Mayo and chili balance was spot on. The cold cuts tasted really fresh (better than Nguyen Hong, Id have to say). The dac biet pho was solid - thats all I have to say, really. I will be graduating on to the crab one next time. And the spring rolls? That was the highlight for me... Thanks for all the herbs to wrap the fried deliciousness in, cuz I had amazing, fragrant burps afterwards. If not to stay and eat, grab a banh mi - I think its one of the better ones in Chinatown. Oh, and there is air conditioning there, its just not centralized. Edit - they allow for dine-in service now.. the door was open when I was there picking up some salad rolls and it felt quite nice with the wind rushing in. Id support this small business any way I can! Also, its $9 for 2 banh mis right now. And - if you want your banhmi toasted, tell them ahead of time, so they dont put veggies in and toast it first!
Great place for breakfast, good sandwich and good price
Pho was good but a little on the salty side imo. Portions were good for both the small and large sizes. I want to try the banh mi next time.
Best boneless pot style sandwiches around friendly service right after I highly recommend it.
Always a treat. Great food at great value with great service
Ba Lets Vietnamese baguette (banh mi) was the best that we have tasted so far. Its a small great restaurant to grab a quick bite. The lady who made the baguette was a cute and friendly little lady. Would recommend to go there for their banh mi.
Good Sandwiches, taste amazing. Has good deals.
Small family owner restaurant with the best Banh Mis in all of Toronto! Also very affordable!
The best, most authentic banh mi in Toronto! I grew up in Vietnam and this place tastes just like home! They make their own butter, pâté, and all the other toppings, and the bread is superb. One time I came in and saw Susur Lee in there, trying to convince the owner to sell him their bread for his banh mi at Kid Lee, and she turned him down! They said they wanted to make sure their banh mi is accessible at a very affordable price point ($5 at the time of this review), instead of it being repackaged and sold at a much higher price just because its attached to a fancy chef.
Super dope banh mi
decent ban mi. Nice staff
Delicious pho and banh mi here. The bread they use for their banh mi is to die for. Crispy on the outside, fresh and soft on the inside.
Favorite place for banh mi, love their fresh baguette.
Best tofu Banh Mi in the city and I have been going regularly the past two years. However, this lady (not the petite one with glasses - shes GREAT) was just so rude. I told her I didnt want butter when ordering and she put butter on it and I told her no butter and she proceeded to slam it on the work station. Wont be going back for a while. And before that, a pair of tongs dropped on the floor and she continued to use it without cleaning it. She even used it on my sandwich to get it out of the toaster. CITY OF TORONTO are you reading this???
I live this spot so much, Ive told the owner I want them to make sandwhiches for my wedding. Ive been going here since the sandwhiches were 2.50. At 4.50 a sandwich, I usually take one of my tofu lemon grass bahn mi s to go. Always a stop when Im in the market
Sweet bread, rich in hometown flavor
Authentic and delicious. Friendly, affordable. Skip the trendy overpriced Banh Mi spot and eat here. Even the tea is perfect.
A highly recommended Vietnamese restaurant. The weather was so cold that I went for breakfast. I ordered the most basic rice noodle menu, and since they had small and large, I ordered the small. However, it came out just like the picture and was so generous that I thought I might have mistaken it for a large one. The taste is a perfect combination of the taste of Korea and the taste of Vietnam. It is located in Chinatown and seems to be a restaurant frequented mainly by local Vietnamese people. In North America, where prices are high, the price is only 8 Canadian dollars. You dont even get a tip. It looks like they sell banh mi sandwiches other than rice noodles. I definitely recommend it to those who need a hangover the day after drinking, who just want to eat a hot soup, or who want to stop by the nearby Kensington Market. However, only cash payment is possible.
The crab soup is the best!
The meat patty bread is not as good as the bread from Nguyen Huong restaurant.
the pate they put in....delicious!!!
Pricy, good food. No AC.
Seems like quite a local place. First tried this soup. Tomato was delicious. Ill be here again for trying Banh mi sandwich. Cash only. A place where the dim sum restaurant is closed in the morning. This restaurant has a local Vietnamese feel, recommended if you like Southeast Asian food!! I was thinking about eating pho, but I thought this Red Soup was famous, so I ordered it. The tomatoes inside are delicious. Iced coffee tastes like g7 haha Dont expect kindness! (Still, the lady is still cute for some reason)
Hands down one of my favourite places in the area. Service is great and super friendly, tasty banh mi, incredible special crab bún riêu, perfect iced coffee. Very inexpensive.
Small places are the best. Great Pho and fried spring rolls.
Hands down my favourite Vietnamese sandwich in the city!!! They also have amazing iced coffee.
Great price and friendly ladies. Fresh food not super fancy but great bang for your buck and excellent iced Vietnamese coffee!
Best Banh Mi in town! Also Bun Rieu is phenomenal here :)
very disappointed
A must have anytime Im in Toronto. Delicious, authentic and cheap sandwiches.
Their regular banh mi is delicious--its a traditional banh mi, but their bread is terrific! A bit on a pricey side of the market (about $4.50+ for the usual), but its damn good quality that I will pay for every time Im craving a banh mi. Theyve got delicious spicy hot peppers too--perfect if you want that extra kick, but be cafeful not to go overboard! Highly recommended!
Fresh and delicious. We tried the bbq pork and the chicken and both were yummy. The owner is very friendly and very hard working. We will return soon. At five dollars you cant go wrong with any choice you make here.
Best pho
Delicious buns and fantastic coffee.
Got the assorted sandwich it was nice. Cost $4.50.
Delicious banh mi
Favourite Banh Mi in town.
