Order for delivery. Wontons were fantastic. The Banh Mi were not good. Too much sauce; make them overly salty - but lacking flavor and freshness at the same time.

So happy to live across the street this place is the best!! Always excited to check Instagram for their weekend specials. Very friendly staff. Food is delicious, their pho broth is so so tasty!!

I cant believe it took us so long to discover this gem. We stumbled upon this place on a cold & rainy day and we couldnt have been greeted with a better spot. Everything from the amazing food, the friendly service & the cozy interior. 10/5 stars for sure!

Such a cool spot. I met a few friends for a quick bite to eat here. Its such a trendy spot, with a really nice decor and they play good music to set the atmosphere. The menu is simple but the food is delicious! The Pho and Banh Mi are outrageous! I highly recommend. Our server Tyler is such a nice person and has a vast knowledge of the food. Tyler told really cool stories about Vietnam and its history too - outstanding service and great recommendation on the beef banh mi with egg!!! Thanks Tyler! I cant wait to come back!

Perfect

I split a banh mi and the dish that was on special which was a lemongrass pho like dish with chicken and beef. One the best soups I ve ever had. Everything felt so fresh compared to other places I ve had similar dishes at. Very good

This place is amazing, fresh and top quality ingredients. We did a large catering order for our office and the food was more than exceptional. We had so many staff comment on how impressed and beautifully packaged and how fresh everything was. Service was over the top. They took the time to package everything and were so caring. Truly exceptional dining experience. We were lucky to go at a time where the restaurant was mostly empty so it was very calm. Lets start with the food: it is delicious. From their starters all the way through to desserts. Their summer rolls, pho (beef), and weekend special udon, and their affogato were all divine. What really elevated this experience was the way the staff received us and ensured they explained all the options available to us and what they would recommend along with some interesting history about the dish. Service was very fast and delivered with a smile. Tyler was our server and he really had us excited to come back. The ambiance was cute, nice music and quaint. Bathrooms are very clean!! Cant wait to be back.

I can t stop thinking about the flavors at this place they ve truly left a mark! The dishes are vibrant, fresh, and packed with that crave-worthy flavor that sticks with you long after you leave. The prices? Fantastic, making it a go-to for dine-in or takeout. And I ve got to shout out the cabbage chicken slaw with fish chips it s hands down the best thing I ve eaten all year! Seriously, do yourself a favor and get it. This spot nails it on all fronts, from bold flavors to great prices. I ll be back (probably way too often)!

So nice to have Hem Social in the neighborhood. Have never had a bad experience coming in here. The servers are super welcoming and kind. I love how the dishes have fresh and flavourful ingredients + how they rotate in a special dish every week so the menu never gets old. Highly recommend the steamed wontons, goi dishes, and trying the specials. They never disappoint. Also the space is super clean + aesthetic. Would recommend you to give it a try!

Food was very good. I had tofu and mushroom vermicelli. Veggies were fresh and chopped nicely. Service was great and place was lovely. Mushrooms were very good. Tofu was kind of meh, would have better as soft. Noodles were not ample, and they were kind of not quite the best consistency. Overall nice, but not filling enough.

Nice spot to grab a meal. We ordered a pho bo with steamed wontons on the side. Everything tasted great- authentic and fresh. Definitely recommended and worthy of its high Google Maps star rating.

My new favourite pho spot, and thats saying something considering that its located near some pretty great Vietnamese restaurants. The chicken pho broth was rich and had shredded chicken opposed to sliced which gives better distribution in my opinion. I also ordered the lychee iced tea which was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere and attention was top notch which can be lacking at similar restaurants. I will definitely be back

The restaurant is for Vietnamese or foreign tourists coming to Toronto. For those who love Vietnamese food in Toronto and want to eat in a comfortable, quiet space, Social Alley restaurant is a good choice. I found this restaurant on google while visiting Toronto. Read customer reviews voting nearly 5 stars. My family doesnt mind long distances, taking the subway and streetcar and walking for more than 1 hour to get there. Thank God, the restaurants space did not disappoint. The dish was said by my daughter to be as delicious as home made, and our family ate it all. When I eat pho, it suits my taste, the broth and flavor are similar to the way I cook it. It took me forever to eat and I forgot to ask for herbs to eat with it. Im very happy that Vietnamese people have built such a beautiful and quality restaurant in a foreign country. I hope the shop maintains its reputation and dedication like the first days. The restaurant is located right in the Portuguese quarter. You combine going out and eating around Chinatown in Spadina, then take the 505 streetcar line to go to Social Alley. That day I ordered: beef pho, mixed chicken vermicelli, mixed beef vermicelli, steamed wontons served with delicious lemongrass sauce. My favorite is steamed wontons served with satay sauce. My child likes mixed noodles. My mother likes pho. The shop has a delicious flan dessert This personal feedback comes through own experience. Not applicable to all.

Must try place on Dundas. Every week they have a special fish, and that s what I got. Been trying to cut to fit into my wedding dress, but their food is too good to leave any leftovers. Also kumquat lemon tea is too yummy to not order!

Very good, me and my dad recommend the candied wings and the steamed wontons. The server was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was made only a year ago, but is probably still better than most Vietnamese restaurants.

Stumbled upon this place craving an iced Viet coffee and it did not disappoint. The server was super friendly and quick to explain some of their best offerings. One of the best, smoothest, most delicious iced Vietnamese coffees I ve ever had. Also, try it with their sea salt milk foam - omg game changer!

We walked in and ordered two banh mis to go. We got the tofu ones and they were delicious! Very light, just like the ones you find on the streets of Vietnam. The staff is very friendly and happy to show you pics of items or answer any questions. It s a small space but decorated really well. It d be a great place to have a family meal. We ll definitely be back to try other dishes and for the banh mi! If I were to change anything about the banh mi, it would be the bread. I prefer the crunchiness of a French baguette but it tasted yummy none the less. I would recommend coming here for Vietnamese! Also please add ché to the menu !!! Excellent dinner in a trendy area of Dundas west! We got the pho, steamed wontons and cabbage slaw (g i gà bap cai). The cabbage slaw, which had shredded chicken, is not an item you see on menus often, but is something my Viet mother makes so I was so happy to see it. All the dishes were very delicious, I highly recommend this place for a tasty, affordable dinner / date in the city! I also appreciate that there were non alcoholic drink options. Great service from a young gentleman with glasses. Would love to see ché on the dessert menu!

delicious bahn mí, impeccable vibes, and super friendly service. I ordered a lemongrass chicken bahn mi for take out on the spot and it was ready for me within 5 minutes! looking forward to returning to dine in.

On a trip to Toronto and decided to stop by for dinner. We ordered a few different drinks and dishes to try and all were excellent. I especially loved the cánh gà chiên m m (candied wings) and the trà t c chanh (kumquat lemon tea). The restaurant is run by a sweet family who made us feel welcomed and provided friendly & attentive service. All in all, definitely would come back again when I m back in town.

The food is alright but they unfortunately do not include Vietnamese spring rolls in their vermicelli bowls like other authentic Vietnamese restaurants do..

Absoulutely delightful service from Kyle, one that merits more than 5 stars. Our food arrived within 15 mins, the banhi mi was succulent, made spicy on order and will definitely have me coming back for more.

I ve been eating Vietnamese food for decades. Mostly in the cheap eats section. Hem while not in the cheap eats is good value because the food is a step up from the other Vietnamese joints. On weekends they have an off menu offering which is pretty awesome.

The food was really good, I had the shrimp & chicken summer roll which was so fresh if I forgot to take a picture, I also had their rare beef & brisket Pho and the peach cold drink. Hem Social opened up in our neighbourhood so my partner and I decided to stop by on a Friday night soon after their opening to check it out. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty -- I had the tofu and oyster mushroom vermicelli salad bowl and my partner had pho. I was happy to see several tasty and clearly-identified vegan/plant based options on their menu, and the staff were very thoughtful in asking about allergies too. We were both blown away by the flavors, and great friendly service from the staff. We will without a doubt be regulars! Our only suggestion would be to turn the music up a bit to enhance the vibe as as it was playing very quietly. I have always thought that my moms cooking will forever be the best Vietnamese cooking I will ever taste. Im happy to say that Hem Social is creating Vietnamese food that will transport you right back to your childhood, and into your Viet moms kitchen. The dishes are fresh, flavourful, well balanced, and stay true to form of what makes Vietnamese dishes so wonderful. The actual restaurant is so nice, and the entire team at Hem Social make you feel so at home. So whether youre dining in or taking out, the experience is great. Such amazing food, great portion sizes at affordable prices and very accommodating of dietary restrictions while still being authentic - our Viet friend was impressed I got the vegan vermicelli salad and it was delicious, plus I had enough for leftovers at only like $18 for the dish. I love that I had a choice of different vegan sauces, too. My non-vegan friend loved the banh mi, slaw, pho, and especially the steamed wontons, definitely a must try for omnivores. The staff were extremely friendly, atmosphere was great, and bathrooms were spotless. Not a single negative about the place, cant wait to go back!

Had a Ratatouille moment of my moms pho.

Having been thwarted in my attempts to try Hem Social over the last few weeks (note, they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays) I finally got my chance this week to give the menu a tour. In short, Hem Social is a gem of a dining experience. The fried wontons, and the shrimp papaya slaw were excellent starts (and together, would have made a great little lunch on their own). But we couldnt resist getting into the Saute Garlic Beef Banh Mi, and a bowl of their beef pho (split between the two of us). Rarely have I enjoyed a soup and sandwich this much. We washed it all down with 2 of their homemade iced teas (kumquat/lemon, and peach/organge)--a fantastic accompaniment to the delicious food. The menu is focused (in stark contrast to many Vietnamese restaurants that seemingly feature hundreds of options). Service was friendly and attentive, and it wont be long before I return.

I rarely leave Google reviews, but I felt compelled to after dining here! I was walking around the neighbourhood and came across this restaurant randomly, so I decided to try it out. And WOW, I am so glad I did! My husband and I shared the fresh shrimp rolls, fried wontons, beef banh mi, and chicken wings. The chicken wings were my favourite, and I m not even a chicken wing person! Everything we ate was portioned just right. More importantly, the food was absolutely delicious and made with care and good quality ingredients. It s obvious that the cooks really put a lot of love into their food. Upon speaking with one of the lovely servers, I learned that this is a family-owned restaurant, so it s great that I was able to give some support! I can t wait to dine here again to try the other dishes. I ve recommended this place to friends and family, and they really enjoyed the food as well. So whoever is reading this review, definitely try this place out! I hope you will love the food as much as my husband and I did :)

Got the Sauté Garlic Beef Sandwich with Shaved Onions and the Vietnamese Coffee (Cà Phê S a). The sandwich was just okay. There were only 2 options for sandwiches. The coffee wasnt as strong. Tasted very sweet like there was a lot of condensed milk. Overall, the food was just okay, a little bit overpriced but the service was very nice.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! We got the beef pho and the chicken ginseng glass noodle soup (special for that weekend). The broth was so clean, flavourful and hearty. Healed my soul For dessert we got the dessert of the day which was the Vietnamese Coffee Affogato, so good. The service was also the best! Will definitely come back again!

All of the food at Hem Social is absolutely DELICIOUS! The food is so fresh and flavourful. My top favourites were the chicken wings, chicken banh mi, and vermicelli noodle bowl (even though everything we tried was amazing) Also the staff were so incredibly kind, making the experience exceptional! Waitress was SUPER NICE (Lydia), food was on point, good price, definitely no reason to skip this place. Would definitely come again
