1138 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1J3, Canada
Simple eatery serving up a long menu of Japanese, Chinese & Vietnamese dishes, plus lunch specials.
this place embodies the character, class, and humble grittiness that makes the city so great. The food slaps and the service is sassy. A national treasure.
First time I've come here. Really nice experience overall. The lady in charge is nice and suggests food and drink options for you, in case you're indecisive. Atmosphere is very straightforward as it's really a "hole-in-the-wall" in the good sense. Dumplings and spring rolls are tasty. Beer is reasonably priced.
Lovely older person running a really cute family restaurant but food was sadly really quite bad. The $16 vermicelli had 4 small pieces of poorly spiced chewy meat with a small amount of shredded lettuce and carrot and a handful of bean sprouts making comically terrible value. Clearly the menu is way too big for the single owner operator. As I love places like this and truly want them to succeed my advice would be cutting down the menu to only a handful of specialties. Good luck!
I went here with a friend and my girlfriend because the place we wanted to go was closed. I had to literally walk to the back kitchen of the restaurant to get served. We ordered chicken balls, soup, rice and a few beers. The total came to just under 100 dollars. The woman charged us 17 dollars for the soup alone. I talked with her and said the prices were unreasonable, and we are clearly getting scammed. I paid anyways because we just wanted to go home. As soon as we left she locked the door behind us and turned the lights off.
The bad reviews here surprise me. Myself and my husband came across this restaurant after searching for good Chinese food for over a year after moving to Toronto, with no luck, until we tried Saigon Flower. We instantly fell in love. The food is AMAZING. Dine in or take out. The Owner is so sweet. Yes, she is running the place by herself and that is why the food is so authentic. After Covid, it is impossible to find any good employees. When is the last time you’ve been somewhere and have been impressed by employees service? She works crazy hard and does a phenomenal job. It kills me when people say the price of the food went up. Did you grocery bill not go up as a well? Your expecting the restaurant to not make any money, so that you can be happy? Not just this restaurant, any restaurant for that matter. If you can’t afford the rising food prices, that everyone is facing, simply stay home and cook for yourself. We would HIGHLY recommend giving this food a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Came here at 7 on a Tuesday night since i had some business downtown. Place was empty, not a good sign. There is only one elderly lady at the counter and i think she's also the chef. Ordered a special Phở and shrimp dumplings. Food took an uncomfortably long time to arrive (i think there's only one person here doing everything). The food tasted mediocore as best. I had better. Didnt bother to take a picture. Would not recommended.
I’m not sure if this was chicken, this was the worst chicken I ordered in my life. Half of the meat was not meat mostly cartilage and was not edible. This place is normally empty and I now know why. All of the 5 star reviews are from drunk ppl so that how they make there money. The staff there is always rude and blunt. Will not go back there
I ordered beef with black bean sauce with rice noodle the fat flat noodle and they used pho thin noodles!! Rip off for $14 ?? Never again . No flavor too
The most friendly asian lady in town
Amazing pad tia and sliced chicken with rice noodles. Definitely should try.
Nice options. Food was fresh & overall not a bad spot for the night!
Ginger beef is bomb
This place has been around for decades and this has been our go to for years. the food is some of the best chinese/viet food out there. they make most dishes from scratch.
The cutest. Good food , sweet lady running the place.
If you missed their lobster in the 80s, youll never understand. Still love this place
Everything made to order, amazing flavors!!!
I ordered young chow fried rice, the rice is good but the portion is very bad!! The container wasn t even filled up like other Chinese food places!!
Good food, everything is done by the owner, she is very sweet.
Alright, folks, listen up because Ive got a hot tip for you. If youre in Toronto and youre feeling lonely and existential, head on down to Saigon Flower Restaurant. Trust me, this is the perfect spot to eat alone and think about your life choices. Now, lets talk about the food. The noodles are fresh, the pho is piping hot, and the prices wont break the bank. Its the perfect spot to grab a quick and tasty bite without having to go through the hassle of cooking for yourself. And if youre worried about your phone dying while youre indulging in some self-reflection, fear not. Saigon Flower has got you covered with an outlet in the wall so you can charge your device and never miss a beat. But wait, theres more! If youre looking for some good ol Vietnamese entertainment, head on over to the bar. Theyve got some seriously entertaining TV programming thatll keep you occupied for hours. Who needs a therapist when youve got Saigon Flower Restaurant? All in all, if youre looking for some good food, good prices, and a spot to ponder your existence, Saigon Flower is the place to be. Trust me, you wont regret it.
Ive gone a few times since it was convenient but I cant believe they are still in business. They really dont care about their customers at all. The food is as stale and bland as the service.
Reviews dont lie avoid this place
Extremely rude customer service! I couldnt even end up ordering because of how rude the lady was to me for no reason, and twice!
They have bad reviews because the lady that works there is very rude. Also their online prices are $5-10 cheaper then there in person prices just so you re aware. Would not recommend.
Pho broth on par with Golden turtle. Stop by, knock on the door and enjoy authentic pho. My girlfriend and have both visited Vietnam and agree this is some of the best Pho in the city. Rose is running the shop solo and really sweet and will be happy to talk to you.
The food here is very good. It seems like it s just the owner working here so you ll need to be a little patient, but very friendly and definitely worth it.
Amazing food choices.
Small portions and very expensive. No value Parking: Street parking only Wheelchair accessibility: 2 swing out doors difficult for handicapped even with help
Absolutely fantastic food. A lovely meal, myself and my wife wandered in tonight We were the only 2 there The old lady that served us was wonderful I think she cooks and does everything herself. What a surprise with the food as it was really one of the nicest meals we have had on our visit to Toronto
Quality always
Horrible restaurant dont go I ordered BBQ pork with veggies absolute rubbish there were no pork I had to search very thin sliced pork may be I could count 5 pieces thoroughly dissatisfied.i was scammed this is a scam restaurant
I rarely write reviews for places but let s just say that I m writing this one 30 minutes after I ate here and I m on the toilet
Its definitely Canadian style chinese but its delicious and fresh! Honestly some of the freshest I have had in a long time. Good portions and I also tried the Vietnamese spring role and it was great!
Surprised by all these bad reviews. Rose is an entrepreneurial icon and knows a ton about this neighbourhood. Truly cares about her regulars, makes delicious and fresh food, and is always there for you at the end of a late night. Recommended order: egg rolls (made fresh and delicious), beef chop suey, pork lo mein, general tso chicken, crispy ginger beef. Pho is also excellent. I have eaten here (dine in and takeaway) many times and never had a bad experience. Definitely recommend!
I have been eating from this place for over 15 years , this lady she makes the food just like Chinese home food I love ordering the Young Chow fried rice and Singapore style vermicelli . Thank you lady for all these years , we will continue to come to you .
a local chinese food spot. good food but wouldnt say its cheap + small portions. When you try to save money by cutting portions, ur customers realize right away
Owner is rude and food isnt great.
I live nearby and wanted this place to be good. But the experience was disappointing. To put it mildly, the food was interesting. Don t think I ll be coming back here.
This place is just lovely - the order is super kind. The prices just increased, however, it is worth it. Supporting Small Family Businesses!
They should update their google map store availability, this isn t something you would want to expect when you walk far distance in heat to get here and see its closed all the sudden.
Prices have gone up but solid chinese-canadian food here. Ive been here twice, tried two family meals and we were happy with both.
There is this very cute old Asian lady. Who does everything herself and makes amazing food. Please visit her place and support her.
The owner Rose, is such a gem of a woman.
Wow!! What a Wonderful Meal!! Portions are Abundance and Tastes Great!! Will Go Back Again!!
I have ordered at Rose s restaurant for years since I ve moved into this neighbourhood. My fave chinese food spot.
Delicious Vietnamese dishes+. Be kind and respectful to the server. Rub the Buddha.
This place is awful, the food is trash and the lady the runs it is nasty. The cold role smelt like and old shoe. Last year I lost my phone and my phone tracker said it was in there which made sense because I had dinner there hours earlier, I went in to ask if she found it or to look around and she threatened to call the police on me, finally after half an hour of me begging just to come in to have a look I found my phone in the bathroom.
Was good the first two time we ordered but the quality seemed to go down and the price went up.
Staple since 1986. Best Vietnamese spring rolls and chicken wings in the city. Give it a try.
Best food and the owner is the nicest lady ever!
Hands down the best Chinese in the City!! Rose is super sweet and friendly, in a Chinese, straight forward kind of way. The quality of ingredients is what makes this joint stand apart. I ve never had Chinese food using such high quality and delicious rice. The chicken balls actually have more chicken in them than dough, which is excruciatingly hard to find. They also always put the sauce on the side - even when you get a meal for one. The prices are reasonable and the service is quick. I can t really think of a single thing I disliked about it!
Serve famous Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai dishes over a decade. The owner Rose is friendly person who will satisfy your expectations
Amazing! Amazing amazing amazing god I loved the vermicelli!
Its nothing too special, its cheap and mildly tasty with a wide variety of dishes of a lot of countries. The waitress took a long time to pay attention to me and attend me. They open late at night which is a plus if youre partying nearby.
MMM Ive been going here since a kid. Their Vietnamese spring rolls are the best in toronto
great food. fast service. highly recommend.
Pad Thai was tasteless.. tasted like cardboard. Green curry was fine.
I love my favorite noodles plate! I come at least once a week to eat here. So delicious!
Best Singapore Vermicelli!
Great food, one of the best spots for Asian fusion in the city. Top 5 for sure. This spot is a queen west original.
Poor interior, bad service, mediocre food.
The price is right! Its not a pretty place and the service isnt like most restaurants, but the food is ok and its quite cheap (under $10 generally).
Not a great spot. Vietnamese with minimal effort from the kitchen. Not a clean spot, confirmed by the Toronto health board. I ve had some gristle in my Bun before... ugh. I think it s open still because they own the building and will serve alcohol whenever. Cheers
The cantonese chow mein is especially good here! Delicious dishes - all around great selection.
Food wasnt that good, tasted really old and almost chemically. Wont go back.
Long days work no time to cook this is great place to eat the food is delicious
Good food, priced well. But the service is bad. Typical.
this is one of the best casual Chinese places! The food is always fresh and hot and although it might not be the cheapest I have never had cause to complain about anything. Small place inside but not bad if you want to sit and eat in. Well worth the price to support a family owned and run Parkdale spot.
Nice restaurant with good food and ambiance and friendly owners. Also the cheapest beer on the street.
Very lovely and charming
Very good prices and generally good food. I used to come here all the time when I was a student. A nice neighborhood restaurant. The boss lady, Ms. Vuong always welcomed me and my friends with a smile.
An old staple of the community with great comfort food when you need it most.
There is a piece of wood in the food. The restaurant was also dishonest about The use of the customer debit / credit card. I would definitely warn people and don t be a victim of identity theft
Awful services and bad food. Youll rarely get any customer service. The owner will be very unfriendly, and may not listen to your request. The food may smell sour and not fresh. The restaurant also does not provide a clear sign to show that it does not accept interac unless you pay more than $15. If you ever dare to try delivery, the food taste will be even worse. Also, some of my friends got sick after eating the food and they felt that it was because of their food
If you need to have a diarrhea with your friends, this might be a good place to go. The food is not really Thai, Vietnamese or Chinese. You also need to make sure that you checked your food as there might be some foreign items in it. Dont expect any customer service as therell be none, at least not for us
If you are looking for Asian food in the neighborhood this place will do in a pinch but you may be happier trekking to Chinatown
Fresh and fantastic!
The food was ok, service was a bit slow - and the interior could use a facelift.
Decent little Asian fusion restaurant. Food was decent and relatively cheap. The service and condition of this shop are not so appealing.
Overrun with drunk people when the bars close. Good for cheap eats when outside of China Town.
Pad Thai was noodles and sriracha with a few shrimp and....chicken?
Sit in the booth and look up. Edit: Do it BEFORE you order.
Extremely disappointed. I just ordered the special beef pho, I was super excited to find a pho place across the street. I got home and dug in, shortly to find myself chewing on a huge pointed chunk of plastic (luckily I didn t cut or hurt myself when this happened). I decided to keep eating it as I m not a super picky person. A few more bites into the soup and I get a mouth of THICK DARK short hair. Needless to say, I definitely don t trust what going on in that kitchen. My husband just brought back the soup to show her the plastic. She angrily took it out of his hand, checked the lid to make sure we didn t break it off, didn t say anything at all (especially not an apology) and just stormed off. Don t waste your time. I m disgusted.
Worst Pho restaurant. Found hair in my soup and was refused a refund and replacement. I even brought back the soup and the lady shouted at me saying Hair in soup is impossible, get out! Get out right now! . Will never think about wasting money here again.
I really like the food and the lady was super nice
I love this place unreservedly, it s everything I want in Chinese-Canadian food.
I had the house special pho, banh xeo (vietnamese pancake), and of course, an Avocado shake. The pho had a really flavourful broth, it was heavily spiced, which threw me off, because I expected a stronger beef flavour to compliment the spices. The portion was decently sized. The banh xeo was much better. I havent had a decent banh xeo in Toronto in some time. The portion was large and the flavours were good. The coconut milk definitely shone through on this. The only thing that could be better about this would be more lettuce. I only got 4 leafs, which is definitely not enough for all of the pancake.
Very disgusting in every lantern there are dead fruit fly s. The interior is not very pleasant. The lady who works there is not very friendly. And they never have sushi on request. Overall thumbs down.
Delicious. Best viet spring rolls and fish sauce in town.
Dont let the appearance fool you. The food is amazing, especially the pork dumplings.
This was a good place to eat once. Now Im disgusted how lousy the food here is. I spent $70 on 6 dishes, which were half empty and full of vegetables maybe 3 peices of meat in each dish. Will never go here ever again and no else should. Queen star is a much better place for Chinese food, 5 doors east.
Awesome food friendly staff
Saigon Flower is a place I have been eating at for over 10 years since Ive lived in the Queen West Neighbourhood. Its taken this long for me to write a review but better late than never. I have a great sense of comfort at this place and with their tasty food. It is one of the only remaining establishments in the neighbourhood that I consider part of the resistance to area gentrification. The owner Rose is one of the kindest and most hard working people I have ever met. She always offers a smile and shares a great story. Highly recommend for those looking for a genuine experience.
Restaurant manager a bit rude / unfriendly at least, not great service. Ordered the bun cha which was barely passable. Meat a bit tough and spring rolls over fried. Prices okay though.
The food here was ok, but nothing special. The prices were pretty affordable but there are definitely better choices nearby.
located near the drake hotel so after a wild night of drinking my friends and I looked for food and there they were ! the perfect location.fast service for takeout and delicious food.
Stumbled here after a late night out. Food was disappointing which is not overly surprising for a late night chinese place (didnt help i was sober) but the food prices were higher than average.
Lady was extremely rude, threw credit card machine at us. Food was mediocre and expensive. Dont go.
25 year fan
Good food
Awesome wings!!!!
This gem is a small place on Queen West. It is rarely busy inside and the food is delicious. My finance and I always get the 157 combo with either chicken wings or Shanghai noodles on the side. We are both extremely full and satiated. It is priced extremely well for the value! Enjoy :)
I felt like Chinese food, and this was the closest to my home... the Shanghai Noodles were okay; the Garlic Ribs were meh, not really what expected, it had vegetables in with them for someone reason; and the Spring Roll was pretty good. I likely wont go back here.
Twice I have been to the Saigon Flower and twice the food was absolutely delicious. I had the pleasure of chatting with Rose, the owner, and learned the interesting history behind this gem of a restaurant. Go and find out for yourself because you will not be disappointed, guaranteed.
Cheap price satisfying meal. Not blow your mind but the lady there would make a good step mom feel me lol.
Not awful
Pretty bad. Its clearly aiming for lowest cost. If you order some bun, youll get a bowl of vermicelli with barely anything else. Barely any lettuce, maybe a dozen bean sprouts, some token shredded carrots, and the smallest amount of pork. Theyre cheap as hell and its their business model. Get yourself a slice of pizza at 2am instead
Rude elderly waitress with short hair and glasses. She raised her voice while talking to us and made us feel like we arent wanted in the restaurant. She only smiled when were about to leave; like shes happy were leaving. I dont know what shes going through but her attitude definitely dampen our dining experience
Loved
Horrid. No flavor on the food. I brought my date here because we saw the place on a tv show where they come in and re-decorate the place, and show the chef new ways of doing things. It seems like the chef forgot everything. They hardly use salt and pepper or any cooking oil on the food. It was a bad experience. We left annoyed.
Cheap and quick Chinese food but far from high quality. Probably using the same menu they has 30 years ago.
Solid late night option.
Small portions...huge bill...would not recommend
Just dont.
So bad ! You can see dead bugs in the lamps right above the tables , the food was disgusting ! I dont know how this place passes health and saftey regulations
Its super close to my place and while its not the best pho Ive ever had in my life its not the worst. Service is quirky; sometimes you go in and you are the only person there, and have to yell into the back to get someone to help you. But its kind of part of the Saigon flower charm. Its better as a take out place than a go and eat type place, and I would recommend calling ahead so you dont have to wait.
The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and the venue is quite nice. The kitchen is open very late as well. Give it a shot!
Not my first time and definitely not my last time at this iconic restaurant in Parkdale. This is a weekly staple in my diet as a foodie. The food will NOT disappoint - from the deep fried spring rolls, to the mains and even the soups. All the dishes I have tried are savory, fresh, mouth watering delicious. The staff is always upbeat and friendly anytime of the day. The restaurant is always filled with customers and kept clean.
Berto said its good so we ordered and we still waiting hes comming on a bike !!!! Rosie make good !!!
Worst pad Thai ever...cheap ingredients, terrible taste
Just the fact that youll always find this place with many people eating, if not downright packed, this should say something. The food tastes so fresh and the staff are always so friendly.
I have enjoy every thing on the menu: from Spring Rolls to Spicy Green Beans; for well over 20 years. Back in the day, the furniture was worn, THEN Restaurant Make Over redesigned the dining area with a really cool theme. I bring friends here to enjoy dinner and drinks; As well, I choose to enjoy regular business lunches with my clients. I cant say enough good things about the taste and portion size. Youll like it too :)
Probably the worst food ive had in toronto. The staff were rude on the phone, and when i got my meal it was disgusting. Never going there again!
