1510 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M6R 1A4, Canada
Modern West African Eats + Bar with late night menu. Catering and private chef services available. Black owned, African operated, Lagos flavoured, Neighbourhood Kitchen Party!
I’ve never dined in but I’ve ordered for takeout. Egusi and pounded yam or with rice 10/10 and consistent with taste every time. Efo riro 8/10 Fisherman market rice 100/10. So delicious. I can’t wait to eat in one day. Amazing. The chef gets a 10/10 too. Only think that isn’t consistent is packaging, sometimes it changes from plastic containers to paper/ recyclable containers but that’s neither here nor there. I totally recommend eating here.
Delicious African food on queen street west. We ordered the vegetarian egusi, fufu, side of plantain and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and very flavourful. Can’t wait to try more things on the menu!
The West African food at Afrobeats Kitchen has the flavour I was craving. I’m so thankful we booked a reservation because the restaurant itself isn’t very big, but can get busy pretty quickly. The vegetarian/vegan options were appreciated and quite filling. We also ordered party Jollof with beef and one with chicken which were both a hit! Thank you for the incredibly good food and hospitality.
AK is always a yes. I’ve tried about 80% of the dishes on the menu. All take outs. I’ve yet to visit in person. But they always deliver (get it? 😋)
The food here is absolutely amazing!! Blown away by the bold, spicy and smokey combos at this authentic West African joint.in Parkdale. For those who love spicy food this place is a hidden gem - the level be adjusted between medium hot, spicy and maija. Favourites: shrimp surfers are perfection. The BBQ Suya steak with coconut rice and braised greens, jollof, wings were crispy and seasoned well, and their fried plantain kelewele tostone added some sweetness to balance out the meal. Great for a big group, try multiple dishes family style! Space is on the smaller side but they have a nice patio out back with some greenery, good music and vibe.
Had a great time at Afrobeat Kitchen today! I ordered the Party Jollof Rice, and shared the fried plantain starter! I personally wasn’t a fan of the jollof rice (Too smokey for my taste), but the flavours were bold and the beef was beyond tender! It’s also HALAL. The tostones starter were AMAZING, especially the sauce. Please get it! Service was very friendly and warm. Portions were generous, and the vibe/ music made me feel at home, honestly. I would definitely visit again and try some different options. Thank you!
The food was great and their spicy is SPICY. Whew! The cocktails are amazing as well. It’s a pretty small space and you may have to wait a bit to get seated but very worth it! The shrimp surfers and peppersoup tasted so good.
We came here to especially eat egusi and fufu and it was so yumm. We ordered the jollof rice as well, and it was filled with great flavor. We had the medium spicy level, and it was perfect for us. We also tried the palm wine as it was a popular drink on many tables. Will be back soon!
Service was super attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is super great and the food was great too! I had the chicken wings as appetizers and they were pretty good although pretty small in portion. For mains we had the egusi, jollof rice and buka beef stew. The Jollof and Buka were amazing. Super well balanced and flavourful. The egusi was way too fishy for my liking. I m not sure if this is simply how authentic egusi tastes but I could not finish it which is rare for me because I typically have a wide range palette. I would still highly recommend the jollof and buka.
Absolutely phenomenal. Spicy and authentic West African food, Afrobeats, and warm service. I m already planning my next visit.
Really good food and really good service definitely a hidden gem
One of the best restaurants Ive tried in Toronto, the service is very good and the food much better! I recommend the Fisherman market rice and the house hot sauce.
Food is delicious. Also, try the palm wine. Will def visit again!
Had a great evening. Great hospitality and delicious food. We had Sticky Suya Wings, Party Jollof with Chicken, Buka Beef with Coco Rice, Yaaji Cauli-Mari and a couple of Pitchers Zombie. The Jollof rice is outstanding, and the chicken and beef were very tender and flavourful. The rub on the wings is awesome.
Went last month with a friend, the service was not great but they had a private event in the back so i expected that it would be a little slower. The food was good, I got the wings to start which were just okay to me but I can see how people could love it. I had the native rice as my main which I really enjoyed and would recommend.
Food was good, took me back home
Was hosting a friend from West Africa and wanted to introduce him to some friends in Canada. Decided to make it a West African buffet. Afobeat Kitchen did such a great job of helping me select the food, which was super fresh and super flavorful. Everyone loved it. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: They helped me ensure that there were vegan options for the dinner. Mushroom egusi was delicious.
Popped in with my partner and ordered the Jollof with Chicken and Egusi mains and Fried Plantains for a starter. The food was good with healthy portion sizes. Of the dishes, the Fried Plantains taste a little bit simple and the Egusi, while good, was not nearly as flavourful as the other dishes. However, the Jollof was tremendous. Rich with different spices and a combination of flavours, the chicken was mouth watering and the coleslaw that came with it really balanced the heat. If you come here, you are doing it wrong if you do not order the Jollof as it is impeccable and a dish you won t be able to find anywhere else in Toronto. The young woman serving was incredible, she was able to manage the entire restaurant - which was full - so easily, and made sure everyone s wishes were being met. Super friendly, and was able to provide great recommendations. It s a cozy, vibrant restaurant that everyone should try to pop into if they re in the Parkdale area.
Very good food at reasonable price
The food we got was just so good! Service was the best too!!! From the chicken to suya and kelewele, then our jollof and egusu too, and of course zobo. Thank you
For the best Nigerian cuisine in #toronto Afrobeat kitchen is the best place to be in Toronto
Great!!!!
Ive really enjoyed dinner here twice recently. I had the party jollof both times and some other dishes. The flavours are delicious and the staff are friendly. Prices are quite reasonable. I cant wait to try more of the menu!
Place is real nice Good customer service and the food was wild Egusi was really delicious with poundo I d definitely recommend you to try them Food : 5/5 |
Today I discovered one of my favourite bites in the city with the kelewele tostones! If you love fried plantain, you have to give these spiced plantains a try. I also tried the efo riro, I believe, and that was also great! Next time, I would just order the spiciest possible version, because I ordered regular spice and it just wasnt enough for me. Service was excellent overall and I would come back to try out more of the menu and the patio they seem to have open in the summer. :) Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian friendly options and vegan friendly options.
Is this Jozys dads restaurant
I highly recommend!
Amazing food. Great service.
One of the best dining experience I ve had in Parkdale. I ve lived in the neighborhood for a while now but this spot had somehow escaped my radar. Went with my partner and we tried the party jollof with chicken, the suya wings and the shrimp surfers- ALL absolutely amazing. the jollof rice was incredibly flavorful and smoky, the chicken so juicy and my partner and I couldn t stop talking about the plantains. The wings were perfectly crispy and the shrimps very very well cooked! I will definitely be coming back to try them all once again (and then again). Our server cherish was so sweet, had the most beautiful smile and created such a welcome and warm atmosphere for us. Overall, great food and incredible service !
Came here for a friends birthday dinner. We ordered the chefs tasting menu. It was INCREDIBLE. The ambiance was lovely and the food was so tasty and comforting. Flavours were vibrant. The service was impeccable. You must eat here for some tasty Nigerian food.
Buka beef stew & egusi with beef with pounded yam
The way I love this spot
I LOOOVEEEEEEE THIS PLACE! The food, the kind amazing girls that were helping me just everything is a 10/10 for me! I will definitely be back
Cozy restaurant, great service .. but the food was very disappointing. I had the jollof with beef the flavor was lacking and the rice was too soft. Took 2 bites and I was done. Very disappointed Food
One of the very rare African restaurants to offer vegetarian/vegan/GF options. Regardless, all the food on the menu is (finger-licking) good, especially the Egusi ! Also, big shout out to warm and family vibes over there and the different activations throughout the year (especially when the back patio opens!), with different community members. A must try for anyone in Toronto, visiting or resident. Chef Victor s Afrofusion food hits properly!
So happy to discover a Nigerian restaurant with vegan options! Had the delicately flavoured miso mafe and the vegan egusi. The ginger coconut rice and fufu were wonderful additions. A vegan jollof would make me truly happy
I ended up with the tostones and jollof (with chicken), and also had the chance to try a chicken wing. To say the food was amazing would be an understatement; it was by far the best meal I have had in a very long time. The food was perfect fried items crunchy but not greasy whatsoever, flavour combinations amazing, and portions very generous. The service was also very prompt and friendly, with a beautiful and inviting space. I very much look forward to returning in the future and trying other menu items (though I am still thinking about the ones I just had.) Would recommend to anyone; get a reservation for larger parties!
Great food, service, and overall vibe! Love the menu items offered. I will definitely be dining here again! 5 stars! I recommend Afrobeat Kitchen!!
Interesting food! The fufu was a first-time experience for me.
exotic tastes, at least for an immigrant
Small Toronto gem! We were visiting Toronto from Western New York and we picked this place for its vivid menu n we werent disappointed. Its a small place but the service is very active and friendly. Super attentive and the backup chef on dury that day was extremely talented. We definitely will be back next time we are in the area
Outstanding food! I got it delivered in uber eats and jollof rice was delicious
To say this place was amazing is an understatement. Service was friendly, informational and prompt. The most outstanding part of our experience was the food though. My goodness was it flavourful, well spiced and delicious. We had the kelewele tostones, shrimp surfers and party jollof - the chicken on the party jollof was UNREAL. Every single item was OUTSTANDING. Ive recommended this place to so many friends and I will be returning. Well worth dining here! Thank you :)
i was asking them why my food took a long time and they blocked me on instagram so unprofessional but what can we expect
Right in the heart of parkdale !! It was great the food was fresh and the flavour on point. Service was excellent. I ll definitely be eating here again.
Everything was delicious, fresh, well balanced, and perfectly spiced. The tostones with shrimp were so juicy and crunchy. Definitely going again to try everything else on the menu!
One of the best meals Ive EVER had! The music was great, the atmosphere was cozy, and the food was soo flavourful. Even something as simple as the side of greens was so flavourful and nicely cooked! I shared the chicken jollof, shrimp egusi with coco rice, foufou and greens, plus drinks with a friend and we were stuffed. The egusi was spicy- highly recommend! I am looking forward to coming back and trying the other dishes.
Really good food - they have great vegan/vegetarian options too
Cozy and intimate setting, friendly wait staff, delicious cocktails, and enjoyable music.
Have enjoyed the entire menu - never disappointed. Immaculate vibes.
I had a wonderful birthday celebration at this restaurant. The food was fantastic and I highly recommend trying the 5-course meal. Its a great way to determine what you like. The place is small, but its super cozy and the staff were warm and friendly.
Love Afro beats kitchen
First time ever trying West African cuisine, first time I ve even tried fufu! When I tell you I was blown right away, such a delightful dish not only by taste but the experience of eating the fufu. I loved that I was given a small bowl of warm water to dip my fingers into to clean them whenever I took a break from eating. Super nice portion, couldn t help myself and take a few bites before taking picture. Very cozy atmosphere, kind service and fair pricing. Looking forward to returning to try everything on the menu.
Ive been here maybe like 10 times now and I cant get enough. The food is amazing - literally everything on the menu is fantastic; you cant go wrong :D
Joy! Joy! Joy!
Had a wonderful supper over here. The chef visited our table asking us about the food and he was overjoyed when we gave him positive feedback. Place is cozy & quiet, food is spicy and comforting. A great way to end the day on a cold winter in Canada.
Delicious Nigerian food (previously one of our faves for take out) now in a great new Parkdale setting for dine-in! Everything is amazingly good!
delicious, fast and friendly!
The food is so good! Flavourful, well seasoned and innovative! Keep up the great work! We love ordering from Afrobeat Kitchen
The food was I tried the Party Jollof Rice, Shrimp Surfers and Sticky Suya Hot Wings. Excellent first impression.
***Update: They have a new Parkdale location that is super cozy and the food is as brilliant as ever (got egusi for takeout and it was 10/10)*** Ive eaten all over Toronto and guys, this might be one of the best places Ive eaten in a long time. Its inside Caravan Tea Shop--you just need to say you are there for Afrobeats Kitchen. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, egusi with pounded yam, and party jollof rice (with chicken). Wow. Amazing. Full of incredible flavor and freshness-- beautifully put together. If youve never tried Nigerian food, this is a great place to start. The leftovers smelled so good that our waitress at the next place we went for a drink said ohh...that smells good! This is why I love to eat in this city--these kind of kitchens make me proud to be a Torontonian.
One of the best additions to Parkdale. Amazing food.
A group of us (5 people) walked in without reservation and the place was pretty busy on a Friday night. We walked past the place because the restaurant name wasnt on the storefront, it was on a sandwich board. I shared a plate of jollof rice with my friend and we both agreed it was amazing. The other people ordered other dishes and they also loved their food. We also shared the palm wine, its hit or miss depending on your taste but I personally liked it. Our server was very helpful and he made sure to answer all our questions and even asked the chef about stuff he wasnt sure about. I will definitely come back to try the rest of their menu. By the way medium spice level was already pushing it for some of us.
Very small but cozy cute resto. Were offered a place at the bar while waiting for a table. Service was quick after seating, food was good. tm The jelof flavor was not as strong as what i am used but its like spagehtti: no 2 sauces are the same. Hibiscus drink could be sweeter but it was a big quantify for the price so worth it. Try the shrimp avocado plantains appetizer.. OMG...heaven. Sorry forgot to take a pic. They were out of beef by 7h15! Pity i was recommended the suya..next time.
Amazing food and staff Friendly atmosphere quick and efficient service Tasty and authentic food
Very thankful this restaurant exists for the Toronto food scene! I ordered the party jollof, but spicy - FYI this is sniffles level spicy, not just mouth-burn level spicy I am excited to return to try the rest of the menu, except at medium level spicy cuz Im a wimp I enjoyed the laid back, cozy environment (no harsh lighting, music wasnt excessively loud). Id recommend making a reso if youre more than 2 people!
Delicious! Definitely would return. My first experience with Nigerian food and it was fantastic.
Very authentic Nigerian options and it slaps! Does Alté very proud!
Wonderful new place to eat. Chicken jollof rice so tasty.the goat soup had amazing flovour. Atmosphere and service were top notch.
Really nice atmosphere and hospitable service. You could tell that the food was prepped with lots of care and integrity. The jollof rice was seasoned very well and the chicken was tender as ever. I could appreciate an increase in their portion, however, my overall experience was great! And I look forward to returning to try the rest of their menu.
Got the wings, and chicken jollof rice. Wings were pretty good, but the chicken jollof rice was to die for.
Delicious food, tasty and unusual. Lovely service and atmosphere
Were so lucky in Parkdale to have this restaurant! The Jollof is supreme - so flavourful and rich. The Miso Mafe Stew was delicious as well. We got take out but next time Im coming to relax in the space. Nice vibe!
One of my favourite meals out in Toronto! This place was amazing. Service is so great. Aaron was super friendly and checked in often to make sure we were all set and having a good time. Ordered three dishes: the miso mafe, chicken jollof, and tostones to start. The starter has a delicious mayo sauce perfectly spiced. My favourite was the chicken jollof. The rice was perfectly seasoned with just enough spice. The miso mafe with coconut rice was also perfectly cooked. Will definitely come back and order takeout from here again. Highly recommend the ginger beer as well.
Great little place with delicious, flavourful food. My friend and I shared the chicken wings which were definitely spicy and I got the Bukka Beef which was served with plantain, egg and tasty rice. Beef was juicy and not over cooked. Staff were friendly and let us take our time.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff! We got the Sticky Suya Hot Wings, Shrimp Surfers, and the Party Jollof. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning.
Amazing place to check out. The food is top and well priced - you wont be leaving this place hungry or disappointed. The Jollof with chicken is a big recommendation. Service is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth to come back.
One of my favourite restaurants! I live an hour away and I crave it so much I m willing to travel for it.
Delicious (!) food and great service. You can tell the chef cares about his work. Top choices: Jollof rice & chicken, shrimp tostones, coconut rice
Such a lovely gem of a restaurant. Everything is spiced so well, things are delicious, and the restaurant is such a chill, homey vibe. Sticky suya wings and jollof are the highlights, but dont sleep on the beef stew either. The portions for the mains are more for one portion, but strongly encourage sharing. Couldnt try the zobo but excited to go back for more!
Easily one of my favourite spots in the city - and Ive only ever had it delivered! Cant wait to stop by in person. Im obsessed!
If I could give Afrobeat Kitchens food more than 5 stars I would. We recently had food catered for work events and the food was on point and DELICIOUS. The my favs were the jollof, fried suya chicken with a twist, peanut stew with rice.... Okay, I loved them all!! The quality of the food is amazing. I highly recommend Afrobeat kitchen. I will definitely be returning. Thank you for making such tasty dishes.
Takeout. Highlights: - Jollof rice. The chicken, plantain, slaw, and rice went together nicely. Needs more coleslaw for that amount of rice and chicken. - Goat pepper stew/soup - flavorful with tender meat. Salty alone, but very balanced when eaten with rice. A comforting dish. Okay: - Miso mafe - coconut rice was very fragrant; mafe was slightly curry-like, nothing novel, quite salty. - Shrimp surf - juicy, fresh, plump shrimp. My partner enjoyed this one a lot.
Love the fact that they don t alter the favours used for the cooking. Loved the sauya wings. The jollof was a no for me. Soup was tasty but SUPER SPICY. Overall decent experience. Order ahead of time if you want pick up.
Great vibes, great service and the best wings I ve had in Toronto. Highly recommend.
I rarely write reviews but this place is amazing. The atmosphere was very chill, and staffs were friendly. But the food outsold omg!! Their wings were well-coated, has a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy; overall just full of flavours. We also got the party jollof and egusi as mains, both were delicious with great presentation. I would love to gate-keep this place but I accidentally slipped to some friends how good this place is :( Will be back again!
Amazing food, can t recommend enough. Everything we had was so good! The wings are some of the best I ve ever had.
Absolutely delicious! Got the wings, beef stew, jollof rice, greens, slaw, tostones and some drinks. Everything was fab and the service and atmosphere was great - would highly recommend!
Went here for the first time and it was amazing. The server was so sweet and gave great recommendations. The food was so flavourful and fresh. The wings are a must and I love the Egusi soup!
This was our first visit to Afrobeat Kitchen and wow, it was just amazing. Weve been hearing great reviews so we went for my boyfriends birthday dinner and left with big smiles and full bellies. Everything on the menu looked delicious so we shared the sticky suya wings (which were nicely spicy) and the kelewele tostones - a great way to start the meal. For our mains we enjoyed the party jollof with chicken and the buka beef stew, along with some braised greens and pounded yam. Everything was so nicely seasoned and balanced with just the perfect level of spice. (We werent brave enough to order naija hot but next time we might!) Were both big eaters and portion sizes were perfect for us, without being overwhelming. Our hostess for the evening was friendly and fun and helped us navigate the menu by making some great recommendations. (Thank you!!) This was just a perfect night from start to finish and well be back to visit again soon.
Gave this place a try on a whim, been back 3-4 times now. This place has some of the best food I ve ever had in Toronto! The staff are insanely friendly and accommodating as well. You just can t go wrong with this place. Dietary restrictions: They have halal options!
Afrobeat kitchen is a true gem in Parkdale. The spices and flavours are top notch. The egusi, Jollof and tostones are some of my favourite but fisherman market rice is comfort food for me. It s a haven for anyone who loves amazing food.
We had the fried plantains, Party Jollof (Chicken) and Braised Greens. Delicious, flavourful, vibrant food. Great portion sizes too!
The food here is great. I usually take my friends and family here when they visit me. I have tried similar foods in New York (especially the fufu) and non other compares. If you are looking for tasty food, good music, and a good vibe...this is the place to go. Also, my friend wanted a last taste before they left Toronto but uber eats wouldnt deliver cause my location was too far and the staff here were very accommodating.
The food is amazing and so are the servers. For the woman owner you have zero professionalism about you. You have no idea how to speak to your customers. Your lack of table space is no ones problem but your own.. lastly dont send the black owner out to apologize for your wrong doing, youre lame for that. ...
This place is great, really great value.
Unique food experience for me since I have never tried Nigerian food before and it was really good! (And spicy if you want it !). The appetizers wings were really good, and carliflower was a yummy but a bit too small bits. Drink I ordered (rum based) was okay, but still good. The mains were all very generous portion give todays inflation. Each dish we got was different and meat were tenders and well seasoned. One thing to note is the service is that that each main of our order came out all at different times, so we waited for each other and the food gotten cold because of it. Also kinda awkward to watch the delicious food infront of you and cant touch. Its a new place, so I am sure they will improve.
Nice vibe and even nicer food. Our family ordered several dishes: loved the miso mafé and vegan egusi. A small menu, but solid vegan/vegetarian options. A great addition to our neighbourhood!
I was so excited to take my boyfriend out on a surprise date and try something he hasn t yet, EXCEEDED both our high expectations! If you re brown and especial Tamil like us, ask for extra spicy and I promise it won t disappoint!! SO MUCH FLAVOUR AND SPICE, just how we love it! Would 10000% recommend! My favourite dishes were the Beef Stew with pounded Yam, and the starter goat pepper soup. DELICIOUS!
Vegetarian options: Multiple great vegan/vegetarian main and side options.
Warning, be very hungry when entering Afrobeat Kitchen and allow yourself a long walk afterwards; the food portions are generous. It was our first time enjoying Chef Victor s amazing and modern take on Nigerian food and we will be back for more. I had the Party Jollof while my partner ordered the Egusi & Greens. Both were delicious with balanced spicy flavours that burst out but weren t too hot. We started with the Yaaji cauli-mari, which was also wonderful. The service was good. We highly recommend eating there especially if you haven t had African food before. There s something for everyone.
A mix-match of different African cuisine, with a focus on Nigerian/Ghanaian flavours. This place is fun! The energy in the dining room was phenomenal, some food might have been a bit too spicy for me, but thats okay! The only criticism was that service was a bit slow to the point we started to wonder when the food was coming. Overall a great addition to the Parkdale/Queen West neighborhood!
As someone that consistently craves hawkers that is done well and with soul, this Lagos Lemak was absolutely everything and then some. Thank you for this absolute delight.
The food was absolutely delicious. First time trying African food and it was a great experience. Highly recommend trying the jollof rice and shrimp surfers. Parking: Lots of paid street parking outside
My god. What happened to me, I can t explain. The food was excellent. Customer service was the best. Best meal that I ve had in a while. Delicious. How my friends and I were able to get up is a miracle. I wish I had different sections in my tummy to keep eating. Hahaha. I give you 20/10.
First time here and the food, vibe and service were all amazing. I had the egusi with chicken (Im usually not a chicken person but our server recommended it as the go to and it was spot on) which was a 10/10 but also I tried the party jollof, shrimp surfers, and kelewele tostones which were also great. The hot sauce and spicy mayo were also good. I got the egusi spicy and it was the perfect balance of heat and flavour for me. I can handle a lot of spice so be careful if you cannot, they serve real heat here if you want. We also had the pleasure of meeting Victor the chef and hearing about his experience and journey. I cant remember our servers name but she was amazing also!
Had a delicious dinner at the restaurant a few months ago and decided to hire them to cater a birthday party. They were very easy to communicate with and arrange everything over email. Once I explained what I was looking for (appetizers for 80 people, easy to serve without cutlery), they proposed several menu options and included warming trays for the hot items. They were timely with delivery and pick up, even thinking to include take-out containers so guests could bring any leftovers home. The amount and quality of the food were outstanding - I got many, many compliments from guests. I would not hesitate to have them cater more events in the future!
Im sure the food is great but 1 star because I never got to try it. My bestie wanted me to try the food and so we called in and placed an order for pickup. We were told it would take 40 minutes. When we got to the restaurant to pick up, we were told by the waitress that the restaurant was busy and since we didnt pick up the phone when they called (literally 15 minutes before we arrived / we were driving) they sold our food. AFROBEATS KITCHEN SOLD THE FOOD WE CALLED THEM TO ORDER. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Ive never experienced this my whole life eating out where a restaurant tells you they sold the food you called to order because they called you once and you didnt pick up. There was no empathy or care about the situation. They just told us there was no food and left it there. I left really disappointed because we drove a long way and I will definitely not be eating here. Its no way to treat paying customers and this situation could have been handled so much better.
Amazing food ! Strongly recommend! The best Afro food in the city
EDIT. Deleted first five star review comments to replace with the following... God Bless the owner for standing up for his staff and business in their review responses. Its about time low character people who think its their right and God given mission to hurt private business with silly, naive uninformed comments. People go out to a restaurant and all of a sudden theyre industry insiders working for Michelin review magazine. Please
The chef, staff and sevice are greatest asset here along with incredibly flavourful food. Reserve a spot here in advance, it is a buzzing place with great dishes and a soulful representation of West African cuisines. The Jollof rice, shrimp surfers and egusi are highly recommended.
SO goood. Get anything/everything
Its good but little bit overpriced for the portion, hence 4 star
Disappointed..In everything. Food, atmosphere.
Went with a group of friends, everything we ordered was good. Jollof, sticky suya wings, the seafood rice, egusi, shrimp surfers. Making a reservation is recommended as the place is small.
Party Jollof with Chicken. Medium spicy. Been meaning to try this spot since reading about it online. This is the first time Ive had West African food. Ive done Northern African food which was great. The dish was amazing. The rice is mellow at first and then the medium spicy hits you at the end. Its a great combination together. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I loved the fried plantains. I wish I had a bit more tribal slaw to eat. I want to come back and try more dishes on the menu. Worth traveling across the city for.
I love eating cultural food and this is the closest thing to a home meal. I had Jollof with chicken, was very delicious. 10/10 recommend.
So delightful! Party Jollof is a win, and the pounded yam is a must! So loved this spot, would come back!
This place is a MUST try if you are in the area. Extremely tasty, authentic West African food. I had the Egusi & Greens (Chicken) with Pounded Yam. Portion size was good too. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu!
Spectacular jollof! Ive had jollof in Scarborough and North York and it fails in comparison to this. The zombie drink while sounded good on paper was forgettable though
As usual, everything- the food, the ambience, the service is perfect. I ve become a repeat customer- even if this place is a little far from my home. Be warned though, the naija spice level is killer, and I love spice
Absolutely love this new Nigerian spot in Parkdale. The food was AMAZING! From the Bukka Beef Stew, Party Jollof and Sticky Suya Wings all with that Naija SPICE I can t wait to try everything else on the menu and plan to be back weekly until I do. The back patio opens soon and the lovely husband and wife team of owners are some of the most talented and hospitable people you will ever meet. 10/10 recommend!
The food is delicious and so well priced
Amazing food, amazing people! We had such a good time.
Amazing meal. Great service. Will definitely be back!
A friend and I had a thoroughly wonderful experience at Afrobeat this evening. We shared two vegan entrees both of which were delicious--flavourful, interesting, and generous portions. I cant remember the last time I experienced such friendly, attentive, and accommodating service. The restaurant has a very casual, relaxed vibe and we were glad to enjoy the lovely weather on the back patio. I look forward to my next visit to try some of the other menu options. Highly recommend.
I came for vacation from the US. Came here on my birthday and the food was the best. Usually if I would go to a African (Nigerian) restaurant the food would be mediocre but this one was the absolute best. Food was hot when it came out, plantain was soft, chicken was soft. You can tell the chef took their time making the food. I hope and pray you get a bigger restaurant because you deserve all the attraction.
A friend and I had dinner here for the first time and loved it. Our two vegan main dishes were fabulous, each with unique Nigerian flavours. The restaurant has a great vibe -- the wait staff were all so friendly and the back patio was charming. Will be back again soon.
This place is a must try! The service was amazing. Please try the shrimp surfers as well as fishermans rice!
Loved everything. We definitely will go back soon.
Tasty with real spice!
The staff at Afrobeat were so friendly and helpful when it came to deciding on which dish to choose from. My personal favourite had to be the plantain shrimp tostadas and the fufu and egusi. Flavours were bold and complex it s definitely not anything I ve ever experienced and yet it exceeded my expectations when I first walked in. At the same time we sat down they had an unexpected rush which may explain the quality of service. Overall, I would revisit again.
I love the service and the food was amazing I will be coming back soon.
Very good experience, service is really good and some of the best vibes on the west side
Extremely salty food. Uncomfortable seating in the patio
Wonderful service, amazing atmosphere, exceptional good. Will visit again!
Delicious West African food at a reasonable price. After the meal, the chef was kind enough to come out and talk to us about how he makes some of the different dishes. Would recommend to anyone in the area!
Phenomenal! One of my favourite places to eat in the city. The dishes are spiced and flavoured to perfection. Love!
Amazing eats! And really great service. The jollof and fufu was just on point! Food : 5/5
Great new place in Parkdale. We used to go to this little bar called Escape Goat quite a lot but now it s a Nigerian restaurant and is super delicious! (Look for the old sign still hanging if you can t find it) My first experience with this kind of food and it was excellent. Lots of unique flavours, beautifully presented, and great service from the warm and friendly staff. Will go back for sure!
My partner and I live down the street from Afrobeat kitchen and have been meaning to try it since it opened. I only wish we went sooner! The food was delicious, especially the shrimp/plantain appetizer, and the atmosphere especially on the back patio was so warm and relaxed. We will definitely be coming back! Also our waitress was super friendly! 10/10 recommend!
Food Excellent Service Excellent Vibes Excellent A must dine. Food : 5/5 |
Fantastic food and atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back
Its a small place with big flavors. Absolutely delicious with the stamp of authentic Nigerian cuisine from my boyfriend. We had the shrimp surfers, sticky suya wings, and party jollof with chicken with the naija hot spice level. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, wings were juicy and jollof was incredibly flavorful with the perfect pull apart chicken. Portions are made for 1 person but can be shared if you order a few dishes, as we did. I was nervous about getting everything at the highest spice level, but Naija hot was just right if you love spicy food. Service was great and would highly recommend eating here. Affordable, delicious and already craving more.
We were passing through Toronto and we chose Afrobeat Kitchen for our dinner. The service was fast and the employees were friendly. The atmosphere and choice of music was great. We had the cauliflower and shrimp as starters, both were good although we preferred the shrimp. It was very spicy but we were the ones who asked for it not knowing that it would burn! So if you dont like it hot, dont underestimate their chili! As a main course, we had the beef jollof rice. It was very good and very tasty! One more positive point is that the meat is halal so Muslims can eat it! I recommend this restaurant!
Had one of the best meals I ve had in Toronto for a while. Had the wings and jollof rice. Will def be back to try everything else on the menu. Most dishes have a baseline level of spice so beware! But it s all so good.
Incredible in every way the shrimp surfers were unreal, cauli-mari was devoured in seconds, the wings were so delectable, and the beef stew with pounded yam was to die for. Will definitely be back!!
This is a restaurant that I ordered via delivery app, so I cant say much about service and atmosphere. But the food... The jollof? Amazing. The Buka Beef stew? The soft boiled egg is perfect. The wings? Sauce was was wonderful Even the shrimp surfers appetizer, which we worried about because of the travel time. But the shrimp was cooked masterfully. I see us ordering here ALL THE TIME.
Food blew us away! The cauliflower was amazing and the party jollof with beef was delectable. Precious really set the tone for a great dinner. Will be back soon!
Really good food, and options for veg and GF!
The naija hot jollof rice brought me to tears, in more ways than one. 10/10, would sweat out a bucket again.
THE JOLLOFFFFF
Literally perfect. One of the best meals I ve ever had. The service was above and beyond in every way. Can t wait to come back.
Grabbed takeout, and the food is amazing. Full of aromatics and apices. Must try in parkdale.
Great restaurants, great experience, really appreciated the hospitality, generosity, and style of the staff. The music matched the ambience, I loved the books on the shelf all great reads to the portrait of Sade. The food was amazing , and to top off the night, the chef even came by to speak to us , and shared a story of his own life which was a precious moment which we will cherish forever.
Delicious food will come back again to try the other stuff on the menu
Delicious. Will be back!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Afrobeat Kitchen, an authentic African restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. The vibrant and inviting atmosphere, coupled with warm hospitality, set the stage for a memorable culinary experience.
Cozy spot for flavorful West African eats. My favorites were the Yaaji Cauli-Mari and the Party Jollof with chicken. The staff is friendly and the vibes are casual and chill. Good for groups of 2-6.
We had spicy cauliflower and the Suya wings for appetizers. The Yaaji spice mix they use is just amazing! I ve never had it before but it sure awakened all my taste buds!! For main, we had Party Jollof with chicken and Efo Riro greens with chicken and with beef and pounded Yam! All three dishes were delicious! Will go back again for sure!
We had great service and amazing food. Highly recommended!
Food is amazing. Rice is so tasty, the medley of seafood was so good. Great service, very friendly!! Great music. Totally recommend!
Out of this world service and food! My first time and not my last! We ordered Goat pepper soup / shrimp surfers / Jollof and fisherman rice. All super delicious. Don t be brave with the spice level! I ordered Spicy and it was too hot for me. Finished every bit of it though.
First time here and it exceeded expectations. Dishes are tasty, good portion, and priced reasonably. We also tried Palm wine, it was refreshing and pairing well with the food.
If you are in Toronto Please come chop here..omo food toh badt
Amazing. I was skeptical about this restaurant because i have never tried west African food but i loved everything about it. It quickly became a regular spot for me.
One of my new favourite restaurants in the city, and now I understand why this spot is rated so highly, the jollof rice and egusi were incredible! The food was perfectly spiced, fresh and piping hot out the kitchen. Looking forward to my next visit Thank you Afrobeat Kitchen for hosting us!
Highly suggest checking this place out! If I could give Afrobeat Kitchen 10 stars, that would be more accurate to the experience! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. Highly recommend the Party Jollof and the Kale Qaiser Salad. We will definitely be coming back!!
We tried the party jollof, Egusi and fisherman s market rice and they were all excellent! The food was comforting and of excellent quality. Cannot wait to taste my way through the rest of the menu! Update: Weve eaten from here a couple of times and the food always hits a homerun!
We ordered: - sticky suya hot wings: sooo good, the peanut rub is so tasty! - kelewele tostones: the cinnamon touch is nice, but we think it would be more delicious when eaten at the store. takeaway makes it less crunchy - party jollof: sooo good, everything is delicious, definitely our new favourite meal - ajebutter garlic shrimp: so good, the coconut rice is soo delicious! (i m from Singapore so i know a good coconut rice/ nasi lemak ) TLDR: we didnt have any expectations when we ordered from here and merely wanted to try out new restaurant in the hood. twas a delicious dinner, we look forward to trying out everything else on the menu! Edit one week later to add: we went back to dine at the restaurant and had Lagos Lemak. It was delicious, so close to the Malay Nasi Lemak! we also brought our friends for dinner and everyone truly enjoyed their meals. We ll be back!!!
Omg!! I never had a to go meal taste sooo good and fresh and filling.
This was my first time trying West African Food and I am blown away. Everything was delicious and the flavours are so well balanced! The wings were my favourite but everything was a 10/10. I ordered delivery, it was fast, hot, and absolutely perfect. Heres what I ordered: Sticky Suya Hot Wings Yaaji-Cauli-mari Buka Beef Stew with coconut rice and fried plantain Fufu Zobo (Ginger Hibiscus drink) I am SO looking forward top trying other dishes from here :)
Best Naija chops in the city!
What an amazing place. You guys are doing such a fab job. Absolutely delicious food and service. It could be tricky finding this place as they operate inside another cafe called Caravan Cafe. We ordered jollof party rice and prawns with coconut rice, so flavourful and yummy.
Absolutely loved their Jollof rice with chicken and plantain and shrimp surfers. Highly recommend this place. Will be visiting again soon.

Nice African dishes prepared by experienced chef in African delicacies. Dont miss the pounded yam option next time you visit. I love the services. Great African kitchen in Toronto! The food is absolutely delicious. Best beef ever. The vegan dish simply amazing. Makes me want to travel back to Toronto just to enjoy another meal.
If I could give them a 6 I would. The food here is super good such a fresh and flavorful take on Nigerian food. The Fishermans rice is bursting with flavor, the Egusi is on point, The party jollof is the best jollof I have had in town, and I can put money on that. My new fav is their pepper soup which has now been added to the menu and I am excited it will be a permanent fixture. This is a great establishment that is needed in the down town area and I cant recommend it enough, the owners are great and the staff friendly and definitely know about food.
The food was amazing. The service was amazing. Highly recommend.
Make sure to ask for their Spotify playlist
We had the shrimp eggusi, fufu (pounded yam) and the party jollof, the food here is unreal! The flavours are amazing, everything was delicious and the fufu is perfection. I can t wait to try other things on the menu soon!
Wow ill definitely be back! The food was amazing and the service was good.
Ordered from Uber eats yesterday even though we wanted to visit the restaurant.. food is good
Party Jollof with beef, slaw and plantains Jollof rice was very flavorful and beef was tender but I made a mistake getting the spiciest hot sauce on it. I can handle the spice but it was pretty hot, start with mild. 4.5/5 Definitely have to try other things on the menu. This place is a repeat
Best weve ever had! Cant wait for the new location!
I absolutely loved the food here!! The cauliflower and the shrimp entrées were so delicious. I will definitely be returning to try some more items.
I been hooked since my first jolof chicken and have been exploring their whole menu. The shrimp is amazing as well as the spicy salad thing. My favourite is still the jolof. It is spicy and the chicken just mouthwatering. The plaintains are sooooo good. Omg im gonna order it now. [Update] They have a new location in Parkdale now and its a really vibey spot. The patio is sick and the service was personable and great. The food like always the best. The staff also remembered me so more bonus points! Will be back again.
Best of the best! Vegan options are chefs kiss and seasoned to perfection. The ambiance is warm, staff and chef are so welcoming. I definitely will be coming back. Yummmmmmmmy Vegetarian options: Vegan options
