A restaurant that applies the old traditional Benin recipes with modern cooking technique for a unique taste and satisfaction. It is nostalgic for many and new delight for those who where not exposed to fine cooking in Benin, Edo State Nigeria
The food was really good I was pleasantly surprised as i was looking for somewhere to eat in the area and hoped for the best. Thank you for the black soup and banga were delicious!
I flew from London to Toronto and I had to stop by Benin Cafe for the real authentic Nigerian food! Everything on the menu is a hit. 10 outta 10 I would recommend!!
This is proper proper Nigerian resturant. I ordered the yam and peppersauce And fried rice and I almost licked off my fingers Best Nigerian restaurant and will be my go to place from now on
Came all the way from Newfoundland with my fam for vacation. Coming to this restaurant definitely contributed to the beauty of our stay! I had black soup for the first time, the soup was super tasty and remained hot in the native bowl the entire time!!!My husband had oha and loved it. We took out white rice and stew with beans… top notch. Hope to go there this evening for some yummy assorted peppersoup and banga! Super affordable food too. Weldone guys!!
Benin Cafe Restaurant is a dive into western Africa and all the obscure and fantastic flavours they bring to people. Ogbono soup has a unique taste and smell, but it is very enjoyable. I hope to return soon to try their food again.
Very friendly people working there. The food was very delicious. My friend paid for dinner.
The assorted pepper soup was freshly made and the herbs and spices that makes peppersoup a great taste was present. I enjoyed every bit of it. I will definitely be going back there.
First time trying Nigerian cuisine. They did not disappoint. The fish was fryed to perfection. And of course the fufu was delicious. Thank you for the great service and can’t wait to come back in the future.
Delicious food, nice environment
EVERYTHING on their menu is AMAZING & AUTHENTIC ! Best Nigerian food I ve had in the city for sure !
Have good food but very expensive
Yoha!
Lovely place
Nice food and great customer service.
Now, I m a newbie to African cuisine. I ve tried a number of restaurants within greater Toronto and I must say Benin Restaurant is in a class of its own. The red stew .. Is mouthwatering!!! The meat or protein is made to your desired tenderness. Thank you for sharing a taste of Nigeria here in Canada with us!!!!
Priceless customer service and delicious food!
Good customer service
This place reminds me of a place back home, good food, great portions with Mummy vibes service and great atmosphere. This will be my Sunday spot now to reflect of my Benin roots. I will eat Egusi and Banga to the glory of God
Most delicious Nigerian food ever!! Really enjoyed the veggies rice and the puff puff. Yummy :)
Shoutout to my homie David for recommending this place!
Nice place to get the real taste of the Nigerian authentic dishes in Toronto. The lady handling the restaurant is very experienced and dedicated. - Onifre
Amazing food
The food and the service is exceptionally superb! My favorite meal is the jollof rice with fried beef. The portions are very fair. You cant go wrong with great service, great food, and great prices. This is my favorite Nigerian establishment. I give 5 stars, but wish I could give more than that.
Okay so this is the best place to eat in Toronto. The food taste like home (nigeria) The starch and banga can really hit the spot. The stew and rice is a most have lol. The service is great too, very friendly staff.
Firstly, a very serene and comfortable environment with Naija musics to bless your soul. Then the delicacies, freshly made, on point, tastes like Heaven on Earth. The staffs are so welcoming, polite and ever ready to service your taste buds to the fullest. Please go and give their soup a try and your mouth will continually bless you. .
We just had bitter leaf and Oha soup with pounded yam. It tasted like a delicious home-cooked food. A place to visit!
Very poor customer service.
The quality of food is 8.5/10..but im annoyed with the pricing of your food..i realized when the men is behind the counter the price for the food is consistent.. but once the lady goes behind the counter, it seems like the price is different. I wont be coming back to this location unfortunately. Ordered from here a few times but i will be going back to the other location off of Sheppard ave west.
The best Indigenous restaurant in town, serving all kinds of exotic African dishes. If you want to feel like home away from home, please visit BENIN CAFE in Toronto. Their banga and starch dish is the best you can ever get. Freshly made, and served in local pot, just like back home. You can also customize your food, yam and egg, jollof, ayamashe, egusi, wheat, pounded yam, you name it. Always remember to order ahead, because everything is Freshly cooked, so you dont have to wait and drool for too long lolzzz. Try them today and thank me later:)
Good food. Atmosphere could be better
Fantastic food, we got the black soup and pounded yam and Bini pepper stew with native rice, ... delicious !! . The warmth and great customer service we got it felt like we were home. Thank you
This is my first time having Edo cuisine and so I asked for recommendations from our server. I ended up ordering goat with jollof rice and plantains. The jollof rice is the best part. Well made and seasoned. Peppery spicy kick. The plantains are decent. The goat with the tomato based sauce is tasty but the goat was the texture of leather. Its a cured goat which I wasnt aware of so its impossible to chew. Its a great jaw workout. The price is on the high side at $19 for this. Although it would feed 2 people. Id come back to try their chicken but I wouldnt recommend the goat.
One of the best restaurants I ve been to lately. Excellent service and super polite staff. Don t even get me started on the exquisite taste. One of a kind and top notch. A must visit .
A friend took me to restaurant to try her African food it was not bad as it was my first time eating their but I wouldnt eat the fish too dry for me.
Poor service, unnecessary expensive, not clean.
Good food, delicious African dish well prepared. Friendly staff.
Naija quick fix for lunch
Great place. Authentic Global menu with healthy African natural and organic ingredients highly recommended to everyone seeking deep herbal, African, and super food dealers to take a look
Beautiful and modest restsurant. The owner is kind and nice lady.she served my sister much food for the price. Thank you ma. God will continue to elevate you

Love the food..Great place
Authentic Africa delicacies. Freshly prepared.
Delicious authentic Nigerian food.
Service is too slow and bad
All their Nigerian dishes are delicious!
The food here is fantastic! Its great value for money, and the taste is just like home. I will definitely be returning!!!
The woman that owns the and their services are very wonderful
My favorite home food
I dont leave at home any more and as some who loved my home cooked nigerian food, and some one who cant cook. this is a great place for me to come and order a meal that can last me for few weeks. the stew taste like the stew youll have at nigerian functions. There are so much options. You can even order how spicy you want your meal. perfect nigerian spot for food and take out.
Great african restaurant
The jolof rice was very good with just the right amount of spice(heat). Stewed beef was a bit dry but still tasty. Price for a few peices of beef and rice, with fried plantains, is $15.. So not the best value. Also, the menu could be more comprehensive. I may go back and try something else on the menu.
Great tasting food! I had the jollof rice plate with fried plantain and chicken and really enjoyed it. My husband had the egusi and he really enjoyed it. Great service. Would definitely be going back.
I ordered the jollof rice and yam porridge. Both of the meals tasted spoiled and lacked flavour. I could only eat a couple bites before I threw both meals in the trash.
Amazing Jollof!!!! Sooo good! Will be back!
This was some amazing and authentic food that was a big reminder of home. The rice and stew is to die for and don t get me started on the jollof. Why can t I leave more than 5 stars???
The jollof rice was very flavourful. I really enjoyed my time at the restourant
Best food in the greater Toronto area
This has the best Nigerian food I have ever tasted.
Truely Naija
I invited my friend who was visiting from Nigeria for lunch at Benin Cafe Restaurant. We were both impressed by the services provided. The food was extremely good to the extend that my friend openly remarked that Benin Cafe worth revisiting again before he goes back to Nigeria. Benin Cafe, keep up the good service.
Home away from home!
I have eaten the chicken fried rice twice. Its delicious but the second time they forgot the 2 pieces chicken on top which are included and it tasted different from the first time. First time was mixed with all sorts of veggies corn included and rice was fried. The 2nd time was not fried rice more like boiled rice but still delicious and less veggies..no corn I have called several times to order chicken fried rice for a group of friends and I after bragging to them and they never have the ingredients to make it...always out of chicken whether its 12pm 2 PM 5pm or 8pm. So y is it on the menu. My friends have tried the ogbonno and egusi and love it!!! Great customer service but they seem to be overwhelmed with orders and cant keep up. I need the chicken fried rice please!!!!!! 4 stars only because they hardly have chicken fried rice.
One of the Best restaurants for nigerian food. That is if u like ogbonor soup, egusi soup, stew and banga soup.
If you are looking for a real Nigerian home food... Benin Cafe Restaurant is the place to go.
Was not a good experience the food was not just I expected
Good food but costly
Great & delicious food. I enjoyed it.
