Where do I start with this. I came here yesterday to get lunch for my dad and I. I preordered it and it took me roughly 30 minutes to get to the restaurant. I ordered 1 jollof with chicken for my dad and 1 Waakye with beef for myself. When I got to the restaurant it wasn’t ready - after preordering it 30 minutes ahead also I had to wait 15+ minutes with only 2 people in line ahead of me, and when it came to my turn she just started making my order as if I didn’t call ahead. The Waakye comes with 1/4 of a fish a boiled egg and beef, I told her instead of fish please substitute it for beef. She gave me 2 pieces of beef in total. I was confused and she clarified you only get 1 piece of beef and 1 fish with your order. A whole carton of rice and spaghetti and they only give 1 piece of beef? And this meal is $17😕. If you want more than 1 piece of beef you need to pay $5 - then they will give you 1 more piece. I was shocked. I asked isn’t the jollof and Waakye supposed to come with salad ? She said the salad isn’t prepared yet … it was 2 o’clock in the afternoon. This restaurant is a complete rip off. Imagine going to a different culture restaurant like a Jamaican one and ordering curry goat or stew beef and they give you ONE piece of curry goat or ONE piece of stew beef to eat with a whole carton of rice. The restaurant is extremely hot with no AC inside, they have those $5 foldable chairs and tables that you get from Walmart. They just got a debit machine in 2024. Also the staff is extremely slow and rude. Overall it was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I would not suggest anyone eat here, this explains why the restaurant hasn’t evolved.
I hate to write a bad review but honesty is the best policy. Poor service with lack of communication, slow service, reheated food (with what I assume is a microwave), food just not great but I guess can do when you need a fix. I wouldn't recommend it here. Till this day I'm on the search for the Ghana spot that gives me what I've been missing
Food was buzzing minus the unwelcoming service received. I ordered Waakye and boy, it was scrumptious. Will be returning to order more.
If you are a Ghanaian or an African and you want something “home” to eat, this is the place for you. I went there to eat fufu with friends on the day I was leaving Toronto. It was so ideal to have a taste far away from home
If I could give this place a 20/5 rating, I would!!!! Amazing amazing amazing food. First time here and I'm definitely coming back. The flavors are exquisite! And there is a good ambiance to sit and enjoy your meal.
The waitress was nice and very personable. The atmosphere was filled with good music and the environment was clean. The waitress used appropriate utensils to dish out the food. I got information about other businesses in the restaurant. Rita's kitchen a great community builder. The waitress did a good deed today. She has paid her dews to society.
This restaurant works on two different extremes. For one, the service definitely leaves a lot to be desired. They would rather you yell at them over the LOUD music repeatedly instead of just walking over and speaking to you. If you're not familiar with the food and ask questions, they might make you feel like you're being a bother. You might find that they'll literally walk away from you when you're mid-sentence, and will come back at their leisure. If you want to pay by credit card, you'll have to literally walk to the furniture store next door to pay there instead, and bring back your receipt as proof of payment. However, the food helping was good when you balance the cost. I ordered Waakye (rice with pigeon peas I believe) with chicken, but I had to pay extra for the fish. Apparently it would usually come with beef instead. That totaled (with tax) a little more than $25. What they forgot to mention was that I would also get a boiled egg, an optional salad, a bottle of water, red sauce, shaved casava pepper sauce and "macaroni" (thin noodles, don't expect literal cheesey noodles. They use the term macaroni like Italians would). My plate was so full that I couldn't see the rice underneath. I'll admit the red sauce carried the whole meal, but I got a lot of it. The food also came within 2-3 minutes of me bringing back the receipt. Dollar for value, compared to other "African" restaurants, the price and speed of food service was second to not (so far). With this said, despite the initial rudeness, I had to give their service an extra star. End of the day I can't be as hard on cultutal family-owned restaurants like I would a chain restaurant. Sure the speakers literally were blaring because they couldn't handle the music volume. Sure the music would get interrupted mid-song by YouTube ads. Sure the menu is literally just a single sheet of paper that's printed with non-complete information. Either way, if you want some affordable Ghanaian food, why not give this spot a try? It was worth the money.
Absolutely love the food at this establishment. I go at least once a week with my husband. Every dish is delicious and definitely worth the price. The portions are large and if you go home hungry, it's ur own fault. I would agree the atmosphere isn't the best and they could really use a make over. But the food outshines the look of the place. Highly recommend Rita's Kitchen for all ur Ghanaian dishes.
Aboagyewaa one of the servers is very friendly and polite, always smiling. The food is always good. The meat pie was not geey good this time.
Customer service is soo poor, doesn t deserve canada
Good food! But need a better service!!
Great place for Ghanaian food.. the go to food for me here are: Diehuo, Waakye and Banku
The problem I have with Ritas kitchen is poor customer service. The young lady there talks to customers as if she has issues with us. This can ruin your business. People work so hard in this country ,the little we can get is grear customer service like we get in other foreign restaurants. Please train the lady well. Shes very rude.
Delicious food
Bad service from the server attending to me . I made her serve the food and walked off Thats what youll get for bad treatment, you dont deserve a dollar
I called to order food for pick up when I got there they told me they had sold my food to another customer and i had to wait 1 hr for them to remake the food , the workers were very rude and dismissive just utterly DISRESPECTFUL. the final straw was when I realized the food I had just picked up, that was supposedly fresh was rotten they just put it in the microwave. ALL THE MEALS ARE MICROWAVED in an unsanitary area. I got food poisoning from eating this food save yourself the sickness and save your money DO NOT COME HERE .
This is the place to go if you want authentic Ghanaian dishes. Their waakye is one of the best I ve had in the city and also their banku. Sometimes the owner gives me a free sobolo or ginger drink with my order because I am a consistent customer.
Was there yesterday and bought waakye. Because I was standing there seeing what I was being served, I was given all the package the waakye comes with. I went there today again and ordered for two take out waakye and told the lady that I was going to cash some money out, guess what??? By the time I got home, there was no plantain on one waakye, there was no beef on the other one too. Total cheat and the lady looks very rude. Not going there again and will inform all those I marketed the place too to avoid there as well.
Food was good and customer service was good, Best diehuo(tz, Tuo zafi) in the Ontario, hands down.
Waakye was top tier! I ll be back for sure
I only bought choffi here, not bad
Ohk my family and I have been coming here for years.. So one day I bought 2 jellof one chicken and one beef.. When we arrived home. I was feeding my children the chicken I noticed a foul smell coming from the chicken. Yup it was spoiled. I IMMEDIATELY contacted the store and told them what happened. However the man that I spoke with was very apologetic and wanted to return my money. Moral of the story - Please just cook at home. In Jesus Name .
Good food
Waakye was amazing!! You feel back at home feels like ghana with amazing food S/O Rita s kitchen!!
Very unprofessional and they behave and served like third world country. Please dont wasted your hard earned money over there.
Listen, this place used to be ok 3-5 yrs ago. But they are constantly changing workers which is not bad as long as the customer service is great. They dont have no respect and food portion has been decreased big time and the price is unspeakable . $18.00 u get a small rice 1egg, very small piece of fish and 1-2 very small piece of goat meat .awaach is like Africa rice with beans is like they want over profits so they cAn build house in ghana n hear. They will Suck U DRY. PLUS NO RESPECT AT ALL. unpleasant face with attitude why? Why? Is called a basic customer service. This is soo low of them. N this is getting too much some african does not know how to fully respects customes that keep your business going . no appreciation of their customers at all. N the take out plate is ÷ into three sections half of plate is rice n the rest is little pieces od things. *( hello customers it is about time we take our business somewhere worth of our money n valued us ii walked away from the restaurant because of their worthless customer service n very small portion of the food is totally ripped off. With $10 u can get a nice portion of food at many restaurants. Because soon they will change the price to $20 with the same size of food Parking: Small
Nice food in Canada
Probably one of the worst customer service experiences Ive had in all my years in Toronto. The girl who served my friend and I left us standing at the counter for 30 minutes with little or no communication, and when its time to pay she tells us they do not take debit card but we can only pay using cash, then makes us use their atm machine which collects a $2.50 fee. I left there frustrated, angry and ended up spending $2.50 more than I had initially intended to spend. If I could give them 0 stars I would, the food was not worth the disrespect. I do not recommend!!
Useless food served
Everything was amazing. From entering and been welcomed by the lady at the front to the food. I tried fufu with soup, jollof & waakye. Will definitely go there again when I come back to Toronto, Canada
Good food and quality service are their trademark
Awesome food and good variety also. Rita s Kitchen is a must for anyone who craves African delicacy. U can t go wrong.
Good food and good service
Awesome dishes
Worst customer service and definitely not coming back
Amazing Africa dishes but the lady working or selling is soo rude .. no smile to customers, always frowned her face and acting wired.
Flavourful food - chicken, turkey, plantain, rice. Large portions.
Poor customer service. It seems to me that the portion you get depends on if your Ghanaian. If you are not Ghanaian, be prepare to get rice, sauce and no meat. I love West African food, but I cant seem to find a restaurant that treat me the same as my Ghanaian friends. Once again let down by poor service.
Great service!!
Poor services. Plus the rip you off using interact.
Poor services, plus they rip people off using interact.
Get an ATM terminal and stop inconviniencing your customers. This is not Ghana. Also tell your employees to learn how to handle constructive criticism. Thank you!
Great tasting food, absolutely disgusting customer service! Such an absolute shame! The Jollof rice is the best I ve had so far in the GTA! And yet the customer service is one of the worst I ve experienced in my many years.
The food is usually good. Depending on who the cook is sometimes. Lol but still my go to spot for ghanian cuisine when Im craving. Staff is nice mostly. Many differs from day to day. Red red is always good and so if their jollof
If you like really spicy food this place is just right. Banku with okro, jollof rice and fufu are all available.
Really tasty food! Lots of tomato and sharp spicy flavours :)
Great food. Always get the runs afterwards. I cook my own
Great food loving the banku
The food was good but the soup was not enough.
Nice Ghanaian dishes.
Had the worse horrible experience ever. She was on the phone all the time and she seem annoyed because my none Ghanaian friends didnt know what to get once i explained to them what each dish is made of and Im sorry but not the tastiest food,it was bad and smelled expired. Never going back
Best eatery in town clean environment nice food very relaxing

Amazing food and great portions! Their waakye really made me feel like i was back in Ghana.
Food was tasty, portions was good for the price and staff was extremely friendly.

They are so loving and kind, in fact their service is the best of all
Excellent food.Awesome service for the price
The food is really nice, but the owner av to get rid of a worker there called Berty or Getty ASAP shes so mean and rude...
They serve you fast The servers are older women that make you feel at home Delicious food
Great food! I recommend the Diehuo. Bit of a wait time, but its worth the wait.
The customer service was terrible, the employees didnt understand english much therefore the didnt not explain the menu when asked. For new comers you would need someone to translate. The food was great, Waakye will have you wishing for more. The dry meat and fish combo really ties nice with the sauce.
good food
Best Ghanaian food
Food is superb
Incredible Ghanaian food and great service!
Great customer service with an amazing smiling face! The food is awesome. Highly recommended
I really like certain foods at this restaurant but the jollof rice is the worst, it s never fresh, always dry and very hard. Everything other than the rice seems to be fresh but I was turned off when I ordered the jollof rice on a different day and it was stale again. I don t think I will come back as until they start serving fresh rice.
Good food, friendly people and customer service.
BEAUTIFUL food
Not a big fan of their food. Tried their jollof rice with chicken and banku with soup. Have had more tastier jollof. Location is far. Would love to rate it more. Customer service is very pleasent tho.
Clean environment, good service and great food
Good food amd served by a very pleasant lady. God bless her. #IWillBeBack
Love the Jeloff rice and red stew
Authentic Ghanaian food
Good Ghanaian good ever time. My favorite is wakye( rice and beans)
Great place for West African (Ghanaian) cuisine. If you ever feel like going on an adventurous food expedition with the hope of capturing the essence of West African food then definitely recommend this.
New owner, best dehou in town
The waakye was . You will have to order before getting there if you dont want to wait for too long.
Excellent Service...Fry Yam my favorite!! Good Ghana food in Toronto. Hands down.
