We visited on Dec. 21 and were a party of 4. Food was excellent. Prime Rib; French onion soup and beef sandwich were all amazing and our server was very friendly and curtious We will be back!

Been a customer for years, almost nine months since last visit, worst food in Trenton, this visit, service terrible, & warm food at most. Waited over a hour after salads were finished for main dishes. Streak overcooked, fish horrible, liver terrible, prime rib on a scale was 3/5. Mashed potatoes were terrible, no butter with warm gravy. Buns now are terrible, when enquired on the buns, told have to take lower scale buns now from supplier. Save yourself some cash, food prices are up greatly, quality at the worst, & food service horrible. If you must go, please let me know if you feel you wasted your money afterwards. Sorry Golden Valley, too horrible for a second chance, please keep cutting quality, as it will not be long, a new ownership will be required as sales will not warrant being open.. What happen this great restaurant

Had lunch with friends yesterday at your restaurant and the food was great as usual. Peter was our waiter. Very professional, friendly and saw to our varied requests. A pleasure to have him as our server. Our favourite place to gather.

Excellent service, comfortable venue. Good for dining alone or small groups, easy parking. The quality of the food has been slowly, but steadily declining over recent months. Im a little shy now to cast recommendations or bring first-time visitors. I hope to see it recover because I have enjoyed coming here for a long time.

Server was very good. My tossed salad and dressing was awesome. The chicken alfredo would have been perfect except the sauce was bland. My wifes meal was chicken oscar, they served asparagus with the woods ends only, imitation crab and hollandaise sauce was watery. My bother beef dip and fries were very good.

Delicious turkey dinner for Thanksgiving.

Me and my wife went here last night for dinner at 7 waited 15 minutes for crystal to take our order it was not busy at all then waited other 25 minutes to get food, my wife had fish-and-chips that was sent back.The fish was not cooked at all and sopping wet with grease. I had liver that was really cold. She then started giving us attitude and had the balls to ask for a tip. The food is bad the services was bad no one would give a tip when the food and service is really bad. I get take away all the time. Never again would I ever recommend this place to anyone thanks for the awful service crystal the manager was awfully rude also would never go back not even for take out and they close it 8 oclock but doors were locked at 7:35 pm

Picked up wings and Bruschetta. Couldn t call phones were down. Wings were not cooked and Bruschetta topping was very sparse. Had a meal in the restaurant recently and the place needs a tremendous amount of renovations as benches in the boots are tattered. Blinds on the windows are filthy. This is two reviews, one for take out and one for the restaurant.

Attended the solo ladies travel group luncheon. Our server was Peter and he did a fantastic job for all 22 of us. He was polite, Knowledgable about the Menu and never once got frazzled with all the orders. Oh, by the way I highly recommend the fish and chips.

On a daily basis I rave about their Cesar salad being the best in Trenton and it has been for years. Today, not at all. Portion has been cut in half and it was the most watered down salad Ive ever had. Chicken wings were sub par. Warm, not hot. I live directly behind restaurant so delivery service was quick so no excuse for temperature of wings. No dipping sauce for vegetables. Very disappointed. Will second guess my decision when ordering next time. Pretty pathetic when the new owner cannot even acknowledge my review. Ignoring it will not make it go away. Word of mouth goes a long way.

We had the best dinner at the Golden Valley. Peter was a fantastic and professional waiter. He made the visit extra special.

Great food and friendly staff

I have been a patron of this establishment on a regular basis and up until this week I would have given a 4 star across the board but on this visit had to wait 45 mins for food to arrive. The liver was chewy for the first time ever and vegetables very soft. I understand there are new owners and do not know if they have changed suppliers, cooks or quality but it was definitely not worth the money and was not enjoyable meal. Doubt I will be back after being my favourite restaurant for over 18 years.

I had the Reuben with fries and an order of chicken wings. Every morsel was fantastic.

We invited our friends from Bradford, Ont last evening to dine with us....Our prime rib was amazing as well as the chicken souvlaki and liver with onions....the service was excellent......Our friends loved everything about your place.....we highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great restaurant. Parking: no problem with parking...we parked right out front of the restaurant.

We are frequent visitors to this restaurant. Clearly the best prime rib in the area. However, on our last visit everything went wrong and no one seemed to care. The water glasses delivered to our table were clearly not clean, one had an obvious red lipstick stain, my prime rib was presented still frozen in the centre, our server normally very good and attentive was having a really bad day, uniform dirty and did not tell us about the specials and disappeared after serving the food. I had to take my plate to the server station to ask for my food to be cooked. We will visit again and do expect to be able to give five stars which has been our experience on previous visits.

We dined in . I was served Liver when I ordered a cutlet . The waiter told me it was a cutlet and didnt offer to return it or take it off my bill. It was mothers day and very busy . He walked away from our table and didnt try to rectify the situation .

We moved into the area a few months ago and heard from many locals about how good this place is. We finally went to see for ourselves and wow, so glad we did. Everything was just amazing, I wish I had taken pictures of the food to post here. There were four of us so we got to see a variety of dishes. Everyone was extremely happy with their choices. Our waiter Peter was one of the best weve ever had. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable, his recommendations were spot on ! We will 100% be returning here. Cant wait !!

I just left here and it was absolutely amazing! The prime rib was phenomenal and so was the service. The atmosphere was old school and very nostalgic. Definitely would recommend for sure.

I had a 9 plates take out lunch order for the first time from this restaurant. The quality of the food were very good with a fare prices. The reason I gave the service 4 is that they forgot to provide me the flatware( Knifes, forks, salt, pepper ,napkin,..) and I noticed it once I reached home!

It s been many years since I ve been to The Golden Valley Restaurant and it definitely didn t disappoint. The sign outside claimed to have the best prime rib in the quinte area and they are absolutely correct. Everything we had was great and the waitress was exceptional.

I am absolutely disgusted by how my husband & I were treated by John from Golden Valley over the phone!! I have been going there to eat for decades & am no liar & neither is my husband. My husband called to find out why our Door Dash orders keep being cancelled. John wrongly accused my husband of making false claims of missing food in the past to get free food. Outrageous!! As I dont like injustice I called John back myself & was polite to him explaining our truth. He was becoming progressively rude to ne so I hung up on him. Innocent customers dont deserve to be treated in this way!! 3-4 times we ordered through Door Dash & did not receive everything we ordered. My husband respectfully messaged Door Dash to let them know each time as we had paid for our order & did not receive everything. John accused my husband of making false claims to get free food when this is NOT the case at ALL. We have money & we do not need anyones hand outs. It is in no way our fault that this happened. My husband is apparently banned from Golden Valley for being honest about not receiving our full orders. You have forever lost a long time customer in me. Appalling!!!

Donna is an incredible server. The food was phenomenal but omg, the service! Donna was brilliant. We had chicken and fish and the portions were HUGE!

The Prime Rib and the service were excellent.

A couple came in and didn t have a reservation..the older lady at the front desk was so incredibly rude to them! Sighing and loudly said sir (sigh) you re going to have to give me a minute Rolled her eyes at one of the servers. We looked at them and they were so embarrassed they left. We felt so bad for them.

I took my mum for her 92nd birthday and her wish before she blew out her candles was to come back for her 93rd. There were 6 of us altogether and all our meals were cooked to perfection, plentiful and delicious. Kim was our server and she was excellent! So kind and patient with everyone at the table. I love Golden Valley and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you again for making our evening a wonderful experience

A little price but a delicous meal

This place has history and the food is amazing! I have never had a bad meal here (schnitzel, veal cutlets, burgers, caesar salads, baked lasagna) ...the list of great things weve had goes on!). The decor is a step back in time but it adds to the charm and is nostalgic. Never had bad service here and there definitely value for money. Quality is spot on. Highly recommend

Totally disappointed with the quality of food, I ordered ribs and they were out of ribs. They were out of tartar sauce for their fish and chips. They were out of coleslaw and they were also out of the three cheese dip.They offered me a replacement for the ribs which was their 7 oz prime rib which was 90% fat and 10% meat. Totally disappointing. The only positive thing about our evening was, we had an amazing waiter, totally sympathetic with our ordeal. We were 15 people and 10 out of 15 got what they ordered

Been coming here since I was a teenager when they first opened! Different owners, but the same great quality food and service. Good value for money and a wide variety of options. My favourites are the schnitzel, souvlaki, liver, Caesar salad and burgers. Hope to continue enjoying meals here for a few decades more!

Food is great and staff friendly only issue is on a pension it is hard to get out as often as would like to.

Ordered takeout, so as far as atmosphere, the take out area doesnt compare with the dining room. Had 2 salads, Greek and Caesar. Both with chicken, both were delicious, especially if you love garlic! Caesar was full of it, as well as lots of dressing. The lady taking care if me behind the counter was great, and yes, salmon as a topping for the salads is a great menu idea. Lets get it done!

The prime rib was awesome, baked potato was fully cooked and tasty. Service was good and we loved the coconut cream pie. A good clean restaurant.

It was such an amazing experience, and the portions were huge! My only issue is the dinner menu doesnt match the online version, but we still left extremely happy :) and with extra food in take out boxes.

I got fries an gravy cant screw that up ...yeah they can ,sweat it out in Styrofoam, way too much gravy ,so much its all soggy and the limp fries break in half ,look at this mush. Also got lasagna, which should b called soggy noodles and canned spaghetti sauce,w no meat. A TV dinner would of been better and cheaper. Used to think they had the best fries in area, not so mushy

Very poor service. We were seated and left menus then sat there for 45 minutes waiting for a waitress before getting up and leaving. Would not recommend. Floors were dirty as well.

This place was exactly what we needed. Wholesome service and REAL food. From the homemade salad dressings ( ceaser and greek) to the entrees ( pasta, veal, chicken and shrimp) AMAZING. By far the best service we have had in the area in a long time. Donna was our server. Her smile was contagious. She made our dining experience. She knew what we wanted before we had to ask. GENUINE conversation. My dad is not one to enjoy eating out, it took some convincing for him to come and celebrate all of our accomplishments. But Donna made him feel comfortable . (Even when he struggled with the debit machine and the place was clearly closing) DONNA YOU KILLED IT !!! Thank you golden valley

My first time at this restaurant. It was amazing, from the decor to the incredible hospitality and the food was really good. Out waitress Tiffany was fantastic. They have someone playing the piano which was really wonderful. I will definitely go back.

We took my mother out for her 88th birthday here and had good food and great hospitality. We had a fairly large group and, even though some parties arrived late, our waiter Peters service was exemplary and no one was kept waiting! The food was excellent, as usual. The pork tenderloin is always tasty and its hard to eat everything on the plate, because servings are generous. Very happy!

Visited on April 29, 2023, party of 5. We are greeted by an amazing and friendly waitress by the name ...Tiffany. she was very thoughtful, nice and polite even when we couldnt make up our mind in knowing what to order. The salad was freshly made , and our meal was greatly tasty. Here is my juicy, delicious steak. The portion was big, and the price was fabulously great. Wife and I decided to go here for our anniversary and are we pleased that we did. Fantastic food and service. Prime rib is so tender I did not require the use of a knife. The portions were LARGE and plated well. We will be back.

It was busy, the dining room was full. The food came OK. It was as to be expected. Nothing wow, nothing to complain about. The Alfredo was thankfully creamy. The atmosphere is very well worn. The wallpaper is fraying, the trim was kicked loose, the tables have lost their luster. The music was live, the choices were decent for background noise. Our service staff was polite, pleasant, pretty, and proper. Several staff recognized us from previous visits, and stopped to make small talk, and show value and recognition. Which was comfortable.

For every special occasion in our family, weve chosen Golden Valley; anniversaries, birthdays, promotions. The service has always been great, and at one time, the food was amazing. And for the price point, the food should be amazing. We dined at Golden Valley tonight to celebrate the grandparents (86 and 80 respectively) 62nd wedding anniversary. We ordered 6 meals (3 of the prime rib) and a single Bruschetta appetizer. The bruschetta was really just bread with tomatoes and onions (which yes, does a bruschetta comprise) but we were prepared to live with that. What really turned us off our dinner (and ultimately lead to me writing this review) were the caesar salads we were served. Dont get me wrong, I like garlic. Love it even. But the dressing the salad was tossed in was so packed full of garlic I immediately became nausious and couldnt enjoy my dinner because my taste buds were coated in the sting of strong garlic. My partner ordered only a salad for dinner, and could only manage a few bites before the garlic became too much. We informed our server, had the salad removed, and were told that the dressing is usually garlicky, but depending on whos back there, it could be even stronger. No alternative was offered, but we assumed that maybe the salad would be removed from the final bill. It was not. So all in all, the dinner was disappointing, and not what weve come to expect from Golden Valley.

Ordered online for later pick up which was convenient and easy. Ordered the fettucine alfredo with chicken, honey garlic wings and poutine with extra gravy on the side. The wings was great and amount was more than expected, which was a nice surprise. The poutine was okay since the cheese wasnt curds. Gravy tasted good. The alfredo was okay but a bit bland, it was good we got chicken with it since the chicken was well seasoned and the portion was more than expected.

The food was amazing! The waitress was kind enough to bring over extra napkins after she knocked over my beer. She was also kind enough to leave it on the bill

Not bad. Went in for a late lunch. Had the 7 oz prime rib. I got served the end cut. Was tender and nicely marbled but a bit dry around the edges and had an unexpected flavour I can t really put my finger on. Not unpleasant, just unexpected. Maybe was a rub of some kind. The mash though was crumbly dry and totally tasteless. When mash gets served in an ice cream scoop ball it s always a red flag. The fish and chips looked very nice and got 2 thumbs up from my companions. Kids all were happy with what they were served. The decor is pretty dated and the furniture is worn out, but it is clean. Our server was fantastic. Can t remember her name unfortunately. Worth her weight in gold to the owners I d bet. All in all not bad. And 3 adults and 3 kids all fed for $115. Can t argue with that. Would definitely go again

Huge THANK YOU to Tiffany , Peter and all the amazing staff who helped to make my Moms 80th Birthday a huge success. From the first call to make the reservation which Tiffany answered to the group photo of 28 which Tiffany offered to take for us. Everything was awesome. We had 2 highchairs as well. The food , atmoshere, and staff were allTop Shelf We plan on having nore family get togethers there. I would highly recommend the Golden Valley.

This restaurant has delicious food and great service. But I love that it feels like 1994 inside. In a great way. Its like your in a retro themed restaurant. Please never change this, lean into it. Get early 90s memorabilia.

I always loved the lasagna here...totally changed to a runnier red sauce..ate about a quarter of it..forgot the buns...I think the waitress was new..needed more confidence..hopefully it will come

I have always enjoyed this restaurant. I have always had an excellent server. This restaurant seems to attract an older crowd. So thats why I gave it a 4 for atmosphere.

The past 3 orders were incorrect. I do take out orders quite often and for the past 3 orders they have screwed up. I will find another restaurant for take out.

We were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary and stumbled upon this hidden gem! We didnt make reservations (which is recommended) but they were able to accommodate us anyway! The decor took me back to restaurants from my childhood days...but the service and food was absolutely delicious! We definitely will be returning!

Our food was only moderately good, I had shrimp in garlic butter with French fries, my companion had a pasta dish, ribs & wedges and chicken piccata. My vegetables were bland and tasteless, and the noodles werent tasty either. The service was extremely slow and unreliable. We were there for over two hours for a simple lunch, and then we didnt feel like having coffee or dessert anymore

Last night I wanted to take my spose out for a nice dinner. We were seated about two minutes after the table next to us. Our waiter took my drink order and said she would be back for my spouses. We waited and waited and waited some more. She never returned. Within 30 minutes the table next to us had a different waiter, there drinks were brought, their appetizers came, Their main course came. Our waiter never returned. We started to walk out and she begged us to return. She claims she was going to be right there. This is the first time I have ever walked out of a restaurant for poor service. Extremely disappointed. Left hungry and frustrated. Went across town to a small pub. Had drinks in 3 minutes and food not long after.

Just held a retirement event for a friend there for 35 people. Angie was super helpful and friendly getiing it all set up for me. As guests arrived they were promptly seated and served by the outstanding wait staff Peter and Tiffany. Drinks were never empty and food orders were taken quickly. The food was excellent, the service was amazing and everyone enjoyed themselves. I definately recommend The Golden Valley Restaurant for any event big or small or just a nice dinner out.

The food is absolutely delicious and tastes home cooked. And the decor is super vintage and unique! Lovely staff and crew, as well.

First and foremost this place is HORRENDOUS to its employees, wanna know why your food never seems consistent! Because they like to chuck employees at the 3 month mark, claiming no hours while hiring employees right in front of old ones. Save your money and go somewhere that appreciates its employees and knows without them, their business would never get off the ground.

Best wings and prime rib in all of Trenton. In restraunt atmosphere is classy, quiet and relaxingly enjoyable. The take out manager, John makes every customer feel like they were his favourite customer. Courtesy and care and accuracy in every order. The wings are crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. The tender thick cuts of prime rib melts in your mouth, full of beefy goodness. Prices are medium, but very fair for the high quality. All i can say, is in a small town like Trenton, they bring big town quality and customer service. I eat there every week.

Was very busy tonight with the heatwave we are having, I dont think anyone wanted to cook tonight. Peter gave us amazing service as he did before, always making sure we were okay and assuring us our food would be up soon.

Excellent restaurant! This is our favorite restaurant. Now in our 70s, we like to have Friday date nights here every week. And we feel like family coming in the front doors until the time we leave. The service is so welcoming and friendly. And the food is absolutely wonderful and at affordable prices. Even our kids and grandkids feel special when we bring them with us. Love this restaurant. It would be nice if they had a few more Kid-friendliness: Waitresses go out of their way to cater to the kids while they are there and give you a good relaxing time.

Very friendly servers at the restaurant. We had a pretty big group, and the foods were served very quickly and well.

My grandmother and I visit The Golden Valley Restaurant last week for lunch. My grandma ordered a plate of fries while I ordered the vegetable Alfredo. My grandmas French fries were OK but very clearly just grocery store fries. No big deal. My meal on the other hand was horrendous. The Alfredo sauce tasted like watered down classico sauce from a jar. The veggies were clearly just frozen broccoli and cauliflower, the pasta was almost mush. All for the low price of $21 We didnt complain because it started to get busier and the waitress was so kind, attentive and pleasant, but we definitely wont be back. Its unfortunate that the quality of food didnt match the quality of service

Parking: Depending on time it can be hard to park. Very busy spot. Kid-friendliness: The staff is excellent with children Wheelchair accessibility: I believe they put people on bottom floor. Make a reservation ahead and mention it first to be guaranteed.

We enjoyed their prime rib and Caesar salad with their homemade dressing. Amazing food and service. Well go back again!

Thus is my go-to place when i want the best prime rib in town. Ive never found any place that is better. Golden Valley all the way for prime rib.

Well have been going to the Valley for years and have always had good experiences. But the new owner has lost some good cooks because he refuses to pay them what they are worth. He needs to be reminded that these are the people who helps him make money and if you get a good cook pay them well so they will stay. We came in at 5.30 and didn t get our food till after 7 Not acceptable your good cooks have left and you re left with people who can t do the job. Hopefully people will come back I probably won t. Your servers are covering you in the dining room and making excuses. Very disappointing for a place I love so much. FYI don t be scared to come out and talk to your customers when they ask.

The food and service was very good . The food was very well done . I think the mashed potato s should have more butter to make it more mushy . The steak was very well done . The portions were very good also .the place is pretty good and close place in Trenton. The Chicken Parmesan was very good . The sauce was good also . 8.5/10

I got a chuckle when I first walked in asking me if I had a reservation when the restaurant was over 90% empty. After a concensus of the 3 servers and a hostess, they managed to find us a table. Service was ok, but I think we should have had a reservation because we were the only table that didnt get dinner rolls. The soup was good, the pork schnitzel was unevenly cooked like it was still frozen in the center when cooked, and it had beef gravey on it served with frozen vegetables and over salted roast potatoes.

I had AMAZING food experience and everything there so i decided id try there french onion and im just gonna say im the type of person who will eat really anything and not care how it tastes but today (nov 23rd) is my birthday so i wanted a french onion and it make me almost vomit it was so gross, and vomit inducing i NEVER leave reviews but i had too for this.

Take out Chicken Souvlaki dinner was not worth the price.

Ordered the prime rib. No gravy over cooked , Frozen veg, half cooked baked potato. Definitely not worth the price they charge. Will not go back. I think the quality has gone way down.

Had my moms 70th birthday there, they were super accommodating and gave us our own area. The food was great, and the service was excellent!

My family and I visit this restaurant on a fairly regular basis. It works well for us as there is good choice of different dishes for different tastes. Some like fish, some like steak, some like pasta, etc. Staff is friendly and I would say that prices are reasonable. Restaurant is usually quite full any time weve visited but laid out such that aisles are easy to navigate. Would hesitate to recommend. I would suggest calling ahead and making reservations if you plan to visit.

EDIT- Attended tonight for a Christmas Party Dinner. Food was Excellent (even my now 11 month old approved!) Service was Excellent. Very excited to be told there was now a change table in the Mens washroom. 5 Stars! Thanks for a great night! My boyfriend went with his family for lunch. He had our 4 month old son, while I was at an appointment. I was surprised to hear there was no change table in the mens washroom for him to use. In 2023, I find this outlandish, and to be honest, sexist. Thankfully his mother was there, she was able to take my son into the womens washroom to get him changed. (Surprise surprise ) I cant imagine what a male couple would do to take care of their child in this situation. Leave? Do better to be inclusive please.

Very desapointed.. onion soup tasted really weird, and weak.. over priced for the rest of our oder.. the sauce in my friend pasta was actually as luiuid as a soup.. we wont come again

Our server was quite personable. Theyre known for the prime rib and it shows. I ordered the strip loin medium rare. It was pink inside but very tough. If we go back, I wont do the steak.

Service and food are always top notch.
