4261 Hwy 7, Unionville, ON L3R 9W6, Canada
Stylish establishment with a patio featuring a modern take on classic comfort dishes & cocktails.
Simple menu and tasty options. Came for the brunch and really loved the variety of dishes we ordered. Especially the hotcakes
food and service here were good but i don't know if i'd recommend to anyone looking for a full on meal. none of the dishes that my friend and i ordered were filling and quite expensive too for what you're getting. it was his bday celebration too and we were underwhelmed by the treat.
Smash was amazing! The chicken sandwich was one of the best I have ever had. The pickled cucumbers balanced well with the hot honey! Fries were also delicious. The banana bread French toast was also very good! The bartender said he makes the best esspresso martinis and he wasn't wrong!! Will definitely be back
My experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The entire experience was wonderful, from the delicious food to the attentive service to the charming ambiance. Overall, dining at this restaurant was a delight from start to finish. I have tried the Best Fried Chicken Burger here at Smash Kitchen and bar. The delicious food, impeccable service, and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience. I highly recommend it!
We went on a quiet Thursday evening and was surprised that it wasn’t busy. I was impressed upon going in and being greeted with warmth and kindness. The menu looked impressive and it was hard for me to choose. I had to, of course, choose a smash burger. I have an extensive allergy list and was glad the waitress was accommodating to my allergies. They were able to place my burger on a sourdough bread and it was so good! They refilled our water without even being asked. The service was phenomenal! I would definitely go back!
Smash Kitchen is amazing. The mac and cheese, chicken and pancakes, and breakfast sandwich are delicious. Same with the strawberry apple juice. The servers are also fantastic whenever I go in and they take care of us magnificently. The aesthetic of the restaurant is also business-casual, great for brunch and a nice lunch out with family, friends, or colleagues. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey.
Loved their brunch, so I decided to come during the weekday, but found out that they only do brunch during weekends. So I ordered a burger and fish and chips, and I was surprised because they were so good. Their brunch was so good, so I wasn't expecting other foods to be tasty. The food portion was good, and the fish was very crispy. The sauce in the burger was very yummy, too. I would definitely recommend this place for either weekends or weekdays.
Great find in Unionville. In an unassuming plaza with parking lot pot holes and in need of repairs, you will find Smash Kitchen in the corner. Open the doors and it's a nicely designed space that one doesn't expect to find. Pleasant surprise. It has a private dining room too for special occasions & events. We came for brunch and the service and food did not disappoint. I heard very strong reviews of this place and have wanted to try it for a long time. Finally got a chance to even if it was for breakfast. Servers were very courteous and pleasant. Food was presented delightfully and taste was equal to the presentation. It was a hearty meal to boot. It can get quite loud with clients talking and acoustics will reverb so if you have kids or family/friends with audio sensitivities then be prepared. Kids loved Smash and found it a real treat and they appreciated the ambiance and the food... And they behaved so well in a more elevated environment than what we normally are used to with small/young kids. Looking forward to coming back! Thanks Smash Team!
This restaurant is usually our go to place. However after last nights service we will not be back. The service was very slow. Our server never came to our table to check on us or ask if everything was ok. Food was subpar. The ribs were over cooked and dry with very little meat. I had to go find the server to pay the bill after asking him that we were ready to pay over 15 mins prior. Found him chatting with the staff at the front.
Not a lot of vegan brunch options in the suburbs so I appreciate the menu. Portion sizes were great. Cozy atmosphere. Rapid fast service.
I ve been here several times. Food quality is excellent and consistent. I always order the cornbread, ribs and burgers for my family. The fish tacos are also delish! Brunch is also great here and a must try - Chicken and Pancakes. Sooo good!!! Keep up the great work, guys!
Loved the food. Very attentive staff, our food was served quickly during a weekday lunch.
Great food. Amazing Burger.
We had our end of year Christmas dinner here, we booked the den, Carla served us. And it was amazing. Carla was fantastic for our little group. The food was amazing. 10/10
Everything is great, except that the serive guys are a little bit rushed. I dont know why.
It is a nice burger, worth it the visit
Nice cosy place. Good food and ambience.
Baby Ribs are not tasty enough! Banana cake is too sweet !
Great food and a comfortable atmosphere
Jason and his team exceed our expectations. We organized Companys Christmas Party in the semi private room of Smash Markham. Food service and atmosphere was amazing! Highly recommend! Food
Amazing customer service. Very well organized. Several staff came to check in on us. Team dynamic very diverse, customer first mentality and very approachable. Will definitely return
Smash Kitchen and Bar is a true gem in the heart of Markham, Ontario. From the moment you step through the doors, youre transported to a vibrant, modern atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu at Smash is a delightful fusion of classic comfort foods and innovative culinary creations. I started my meal with the Crispy Calamari - perfectly fried to a golden brown, served with a tangy lemon-caper aioli that had my taste buds dancing. For the main course, I indulged in the Maple Bourbon Glazed Salmon, which was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with a medley of roasted vegetables and a silky sweet potato puree. But the real showstopper was the Smash Burger - a juicy patty piled high with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and a secret sauce that had me scraping the plate clean. The hand-cut fries that accompanied it were nothing short of addictive. The service at Smash is exceptional, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that truly cares about making your dining experience exceptional. They were able to provide excellent recommendations and ensure that every course was timed to perfection. Whether youre looking for a casual night out with friends, a romantic date night, or a family gathering, Smash Kitchen and Bar is the perfect destination. With its vibrant atmosphere, mouthwatering menu, and impeccable service, its no wonder this restaurant has become a local favorite. I cant wait to return and see what other culinary delights they have in store.
Was in there yesterday. Service was really good, food came nicely paced, and the bartender with the long hair is so friendly. The food is overall (and I tried many dishes) quite bland and lacking flavour. The chef is obsessed with squash and everything has this bland sweet taste because of it with everything having a similar flavour. More seasoning, spices, tangy sauces, spicy, would go a long way. The best analogy I can come up with regarding the kind of taste palette that someone would have to enjoy this is the equivalent to someone thinking vanilla is the best flavour of ice cream. I will say though that the food is good quality.
The server was rude and not attentive. I submitted my order to another server because she wasnt available and got attitude that I should have given my order to her. Instead of asking her coworker she made me repeat myself. When the food was brought out, my burger was cold. The place is a little disorganized though seems to have a full house for staffing.
The food was quite tasty although it looked unappealing, we very much enjoyed it. It didnt give us the grease coughs and it digested well.
Never been here before - was pleasantly surprised! The food was great but the service was even better, our server Carly or Carla (I believe it was Carly) was so lovely, really great customer service. Also the support staff filling waters and greeting customers were really consistent and friendly.
We are in town for a hockey tournament- Andrew was a great server! Fun and engaging!! The food is good but go the see Andrew too!
Fantastic service, great ambiance and delicious food!
I wouldve given this place 4 stars probably until the end of our meal. Came with a couple of friends - it was empty and we got seated a table that was squished with the people beside us . We ordered our food. Service was ok. Not great not poor. Food was good. The French toast was a bit overly sweet but still very good . One of the better French toasts Ive had. Then we were basically nagged to leave. We got there at 10:15. It was barely 11:45 . We were just wrapping up . Typically a restaurant tells you seating time is 2 hours. We had not hit our 2 hours and there was no line up and there were empty tables and the waitress kept coming to us to the point my friend said to her are u trying to ask us to leave (because her manager told her to ) . I ended up walking to the manager and telling him hey we havent been here for 2 hours . We will stay our 2 hours and youre not being very nice in how youre treating your guests. Would not go again just because of that . I shouldnt be rushed out when there is no line up and I havent overstayed my 2 hour welcome .
Great food and great service!
Nice looking place and good service but the food is bland and expensive.
Excellent service from our server as always. Very polite and attentive to our needs. Food is also amazing.
Vegetarian options: Several options Dietary restrictions: Just notify your server and they will accommodate your restrictions. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Great place, friendly staff and excellent food
Would highly recommend the bbq brisket grilled cheese it is very flavourful & filling. My vegetarian friend said the plant based burger was very delicious.
I ve never been anywhere with such wonderful service! Everyone is so welcoming and caring about how we are doing. And the smash burger was soo yum!!
I ve been to this location multiple times but this time the service was terrible. We were a group of 11 and had a 12:00 reservation for brunch. We arrived and were seated right at 12:00. From there nothing went well. First issue was the water had speckles of debris in it and it took multiple try s before we had clean water. From there we waited 25 minutes to get our drink order taken. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for drinks and some of them finally arrived. For those of us who ordered coffee we had no cream or milk and no spoons. My daughter had to get up and go to the bar to ask for cream. Someone finally brought it over and literally slammed it onto the table with such an attitude. In the meantime we had placed our food order and the meals were arriving. There were a few minor issues however, for the most part the food was good. We had all finished our food but it took another 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to ask if we were done. I asked for the bills and a few takeout containers. They brought the bills 3 different times because the first 2 attempts they were all wrong. It took about 10-15 minutes before the bills were correct not to mention we had to ask again for containers Because we were a group of 11 gratuity had already been added to each bill, there was 4 bills, otherwise we would not have left anything. On top of all this I sent a message to the restaurant the same day and now 6 days later I have received no response. I understand that when places are really busy service takes a little longer however this was the worst service I have ever experienced and as a result will likely never go to this restaurant again.
Its a very beautiful place, but the servers were constantly rushing us to order, then to pay, and leave, even though the place wasnt even half full. The food and drinks are a little overpriced.
Amazing food, especially the Mac and cheese. Great cheesy flavour. It should do take out though because not everyone wants to dine in
Ordered espresso martini and jerky chicken, delicious, a bit pricey though.
First time at Smash for brunch, did not disappoint! We got the pork belly benny & bbq brisket hash. Both were delicious and the pork was cooked perfectly. Servers are always on point and friendly at this location. Food comes out very fast and hot and is also reasonably priced. Always a welcoming experience, definitely coming back again for a brunch date!
So disappointed! We met for brunch today and I understand that the coffee machine was broken, but my poached eggs arrived actually cold. They were kind enough to replace them, but then of course by the time the new eggs came the potatoes and the toast was cold. Its fine but then they only gave me two eggs and then they brought another two eggs instead of the three eggs that were my breakfast!?!? I finally got to eat all of my breakfast and the manager/hostess came over and told us that we had 10 more minutes because they needed our table ! There were no other tables in the restaurant? This was such a bad experience ! Ive been here before, and Ive never felt like this ! 40 minutes and get out ! Shocking!!!
We went here for dessert and drinks. Ordered a beer for my friend, mussels and the banana toffee cake. I tasted the mussels and they were good. The cake was soooo good that my mouth waters just thinking about it lol. The girl who served us was very kind and told us that this particular cake is what she usually recommends - as she should. The ambiance, the small Christmas details here and there were all great! It gave a cozy feel - perfect to host holiday parties. I will definitely go back for their short ribs poutine
My overall experience was great, they should add salmon fish in the dishes :) and could add more meat variety in there starter box
A hidden gem in the area. Great place for brunch. Smash burger and pancake with fried chicken were both delicious. Added bacons for the burger which was a good choice, it came with 4 pieces.
I went there with a friend and the experience was so bad. Food was ok but expensive. I get that its always very busy and they have to tell customers to wait until a table clears but there is no need to be rude and indifferent. I could see the difference between service to other tables and service to our table. I felt that the waiters were being racist. I went there because a friend recommended it, after such an experience I wont go there ever.
I dined at Smash Kitchen on Friday, September 27, and my experience was incredibly disappointing. My party of four made a reservation for 7:30 PM, but upon arrival, we were shown to a table that could barely accommodate two people. When we asked to switch to a larger table, we were unexpectedly denied, despite our reservation. To add to the frustration, I noticed another couple with just two individuals being seated at a spacious booth. It was disheartening to see that all the larger parties given smaller tables seemed to be South Asian, while other guests were afforded better seating. Thankfully, our server Lauren was fantastic and went out of their way to accommodate us at a bigger booth, but that shouldnt have been necessary. This experience highlighted serious issues with the restaurants reservation and seating policies. While our servers efforts were appreciated, the overall treatment from the host left a sour note.
Got the chicken + pancakes and breakfast poutine. We were seated quickly with no reso, food came within 15 minutes. Seriously the best pancake I have ever eaten. Would go back any day. Great service.
We decided to have brunch here which was a new restaurant for the both of us. Host greeted us with a smile and he was very prompt! I say the same for our waitress, Eyssa/Alyssa. She was attentive and friendly. I cant say the same for the other female workers who came out of the kitchen. One came out as we crossed paths while walking to our table and she looked annoyed that people (we) were in her way. Another worker who removed our plates also gave the impression she didnt want to be there and again, I felt she was annoyed that she had to clear our table. Food was ok. We tried one of their signature dish which was mac and cheese. Maybe we had the bar set high from eating mac and cheese in muskoka, but I honestly couldnt taste the cheese here. There was visible cheese there though - looked like mozzarella, but no cheddar cheese. The best way I could describe the taste of the dish was macaroni with light fat free milk with crunchy toppings. My partner had the beef brisquet which he ate all of. I had the pork bbq. We both agreed we wouldnt order the mac and cheese again. Atmosphere - family friendly. Our host sat us in a booth that was more on the quiet side which I very much appreciated. Im all for trying new restaurants, but I wouldnt return again for breakfast/brunch. I would give another chance for their dinner menu.
The food was tasty, portions was good. Truffle fries were soggy. And we got charged 2$ per person for a cake we brought, cut ourselves and not everybody had cake. For a group of 16 that s 32$ for a cake fee . Save your dessert and have it elsewhere cause this is a scam. Server barely came around and gratuity was automatically 20% .
Good food, service wasn t great for a big group.
Came for a birthday brunch. Had a large table thus we were charged a 20% auto gratuity. I think this lead us to getting minimal service. I had to ask twice for my coffee to be refilled before our server actually filled up my coffee and no one got refills on any of their drinks or water. At the end, my friends brought me a cake. We said 6 people would be having cake but they charged each of the 16 individuals a cake cutting fee. $32 in cake fees for 6 of is eating a cake we brought ourself is CRAZY. We also cut and served our own cake. Also typically restaurants provide a complimentary birthday dessert but this restaurant charged me $32 to eat a dessert we brought ourselves is pretty insane. Definitely not the place to go if you re celebrating anything.
Smash Kitchen and Bar offers a solid dining experience with its upscale casual atmosphere and comfort cuisine. The menu features a variety of options, from coal-fired pizzas to BBQ ribs and seafood dishes. The mac and cheese is a standout, made with curly cavatappi noodles and topped with a well-seasoned breadcrumb crust. The cheese sauce has good flavor, though the portion of add-on grilled chicken could be more generous. Their burgers are also popular, living up to the restaurants name. The atmosphere is trendy and lively, with a lounge area perfect for watching sports. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get busy during peak hours. They offer a happy hour with $10 appetizers and discounted drinks, providing good value. While not every dish may wow you, Smash Kitchen delivers reliable, tasty comfort food in a pleasant setting. Its a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
it was hot but. The lamb rigatoni tasted wet and was really hard to find and taste the lamb. The bone on top with a little marrow doesnt count.
Went for brunch today and fell sick.
Food was awesome! By far the best fish and chips I ve ever had. Staff and service were amazing. Food
The food was good, the atmosphere was good, and the service was okay.
The Tacos -Wow wow Lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. its showtime! Food
Excellent food, everyone seems to be quite attentative. Just had an issue where I was asked what side I want with my burger and I responded with doesnt it come with fries and the waitress said yes but then said to pick from a certain section, at which point I picked the salad with it. It arrived without fries and I asked where the fries were and it seems like there was just a big misunderstanding - but we paid for it.
Exceptional service! We were traveling from out of town to visit the zoo. The serving staff went above and beyond to make the trip special, not to mention the delicious food!
It was my first time at this establishment. Staff was great, atmosphere was great, clean. The paper in the washroom to wipe your hands, good quality, its like a towel. My ONLY criticism is its way to expensive for a breakfast/brunch. It cost $7.25 for a glass of orange juice that I saw come from a jug, when the menu says freshly squeezed, just cant rationalize that. Even though I enjoyed it, I wont be going back $61 for a breakfast for 2 is a lot.
I come here with my wife all the time for one thing! The Macaroni Cheese Brisket and the Brisket Grilled Cheese! Phenomenal !
Update: Manager reached out to me and said they would be sending me a gift card, followed up twice and have not heard back or received the gift card. Even more disappointed with the service and how they treat customers. Will not be going back! Have been coming here for years and was very disappointed with the quality and portion of the food tonight. 3 people at our table ordered the LA mac and cheese, usually the skillet is always full to the top. Today everyones was practically empty and not full at all, but it is the same price. Felt it was a big rip off, will definitely think twice before coming back next time.
Burgers stunk and tasted of fish, buns burnt, beers flat. Mac & cheese smelled like spoiled milk. $105 on takeout that went straight to the trash. Tables were even complaining for the short duration we were inside. On top of that, the food took SO long to come out. Hard pass!
We took our kids visiting from Edmonton for dinner. The service was absolutely amazing! Shout-out to our server - a wonderful lady by the name of Emma! She was friendly, helpful and efficient! The food was great. We would not hesitate to recommend! Dietary restrictions: My husband is a celiac and he was helped with his choice by Emma, who spoke to the chef.
i hate this one waiter here
I made a reservation for 3 for Sat brunch. Two of us arrived early, a server was at the desk, just smiled and walked away. It was slightly awkward but another server was happy to help and took us to the table. The restaurant had enough staff and was not busy. Restaurant atmosphere is standard. We were greeted by our server and both of us ordered a coffee to start. Our friend arrived after and we had quite a long conversation after deciding what we wanted. I decided to not wait for the original server for the table and I asked another server for help to take our order. She gladly took our order and then the original service returned immediately. She indicated to us that she was the server and that we had to repeat our order to her. I found this rather rude and inefficient especially when she was not attentive to our table. She also was not the server who brought us the meals (there were multiple servers and all of them seems to be more attentive to us). In fact, it was all of the other servers that made the service rating a 2 star instead of a 1 star. Throughout the whole meal, she only checked on our table once. As I was finishing my plate, she came to the table to let us know that there is another reservation after us. This is very odd because there were many tables that arrived much earlier than us and they were there even after we left. There were also many empty tables. My friend looked at the time immediately and it was exactly only an hour since our reservation. What is the rush? As for food, we all shared a little of everything and we all had similar comments: Dripped coffee we are all coffee drinkers; some of us are regular specialty coffee drinkers so we knew to lower the standards for regular coffee. The coffee was lukewarm and stale. Although bottomless, it is only worth it if you are literally drinking it as water. Latte no attempt in art, it came out to be a cappuccino. If you offer this on the menu, give some training or some general documented procedure so the staff can do this properly BBQ brisket benedict: very normal brunch type item; it was good but nothing spectacular Fried chicken sandwich: Smaller than I expected but overall it was good Pork belly benedict: very normal brunch type item; it was good but nothing spectacular Overall, for the service and the price, I agree to others that there are many other options available.
Smash is a go to spot in Markham for a casual environment and good food. They serve plenty brunch/ lunch/ and dinner options. Last time I went, the whole table ordered the bbq brisket grilled cheese. If you go for brunch, try the mac and cheese.
Great service. Good food. They were very attentive to our allergy restrictions. Service from staff was 10/10. They went out of their way to make us feel super comfortable and checked in often. I have to say, one of the best levels of service weve received almost ever. Id highly recommend. Try the brisket sandwich and Smash Burger.
Food was yummy and the atmosphere was nice. UNFORTUNATELY the server was not very nice and had a bad attitude. Did not even say thank you when we left.
I came on Friday night and Veronikas service was amazing!!!!! She was so kind, attentive, and really gave outstanding service. I definitely will be coming back and asking for her. Thank you Veronika! Youre outstanding!
You have to go here. Just found this little gem. I m a tough critic. From the minute we walked in I was impressed. Thank you for restoring my faith in the restaurant industry. The food, amazing. The atmosphere, wonderful. The price, great. The service was absolutely phenomenal! I wish I took a picture but we couldn t wait to try our meals. It s been years since I ve had an experience like this. Special thank you to Divyaa for taking care of us. Will most definitely be visiting more often. Keep up the great job. Wish I could give you guys 10 stars.
Just went for dinner last night. While the food was great , the two lady servers were pretty inattentive during our visit.
I came here for dinner this Sunday and absolutely loved the food and the service from the two girls serving us was amazing!
The food here gave me poising and made me barf and have diharreah. Do not let Alopetia or patty serve you they are mean and careless they made my pasta raw.
I came out with my family to Smash for the first time and my expectations were blown out of the water fr. I never realized until today how rushed and uncomfortable most of my previous dining experiences have been purely due to the vibe of the staff. like this dinner was the most welcomed i ve ever felt in a restaurant. Every staff we engaged with was kind, engaged, and considerate, and Jason and Justin were just extraordinary. This is random and maybe just in my head but we are a black family so apprehension/microaggresions are run of the mill for many if not most restaurants. The genuineness displayed in the Smash staff tonight.. i have no words. like it s really hard to explain how welcomed i felt tonight, there were no tight smiles or long stares or rushed service, it was perfect. we felt like guests, not intruders and i ve never been able to articulate the feeling i got in most restaurants until i experienced Smash s hospitality. This is truly what the industry standard should be, tysm to both jason and justin for an amazing dining experience, much love. also of course the meal was delicious, go with their recommendations they know what they re talking about
Went for the first time last night. Was expecting a super expensive experience because of the inside decor; am I ever red faced. Our server eloquently sold the corn bread, of which I am not usually a fan. The butter that comes with? Damn. Had the croquettes. Sweet baby Jesus. The beat part of my stay. Everyone better shut up while I munch. Finished with the bacon brisket burger. (Forget the name, but its a Sumner special), and even it was amazing. Dont get me started on the in house fries. Such a rad experience.
Monday lunch time a fish n chips and a burger waiting over 30 minutes not really good experience
They have the best server ever, the nicest server and a lot of good food
Stopped in on our way back from up north So glad we did! Walked in and were greeted with smiles and great service start to finish! Food : 5/5
Nice family place
Like this cozy place! It s perfect for laid back weekend brunches or quick lunches very quick and friendly service. However French toast was very dissatisfying. Otherwise like their meals. I wish they add some lighter menu options.
After the Sammich I had, Id smash
Came here with a group for dinner after a long day doing outdoor activities so we had built up an appetite. Needless to say we smashed everything we ordered. $10 apps on Mondays so we tried a bunch of things. Standouts were the Spanish mussels (huge portions, delicious sauce), calamari was great, corn dip was tasty, and garlic cheese bread was so soft and yummy. For mains we split the southern platter, fried chicken was super juicy and the ribs were delicious. Shared the banana cake for desert at is was the perfect sweet treat. Definitely would come back when in the area.
Food and drinks were delicious
I really enjoyed our meal here. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and professional. Our server Diviya was kinda, patient and attentive with us. Our meals came out hot and were absolutely delicious. The inside does have high ceilings which made it slightly louder when busy. They have a really nice screened in patio at the back where we sat for lunch and it was perfect. Highly recommend, you won t be disappointed!
Good place for a quick dinner. The food came out pretty fast and tasted good!
Horrible. Horrible service and a forced 20% tip. The place is a dump. Avoid Food : 1/5
Excellent service and food!
very delicious!!
Amazing service!! Amazing food!
Very nice atmosphere, service was quick and friendly. The Wednesday special smash burger is delicious. Worth a visit if you are in the area!
Amazing food and drinks and the best servers! Caesars are amazing.
Good food!
Tucked away on an unassuming corner of the plaza. My buddy and I drive by this area alot, and finally decided to check this spot out. It was definitely worth the stop on a late Friday evening May 17th 2024. The place could use some decorations, it was very plain inside. Although there were plenty of people inside, it needed some background music, seemed too quiet at times. The restaurant was super clean, the staff all very friendly, this place is a well oiled machine it seems. I had a mouth-watering smash double patty burger with cheese. It had ketchup, mustard, on top of condiments on the second patty with the cheese, and mayo on top bun with lettuce, onions and sauteed mushrooms. The perfect burger order, so it doesnt get a soggy bun on the top or bottom buns. My buddy had the same minus mushrooms, with tomato. The fries were medium and small cut with the skin on, with a side of aioli sauce. We both ate every morsel of our meal. I had 2 very crisp and flavorful golden eye spy ciders (great name btw), and my buddy had a pint of canadian. The service was outstanding, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant/bar was way bigger than I thought, with plenty of space for maybe another 60 patrons. Seems to sit about 200 patrons, plus had a party room and a patio in the rear. We sat at a booth. And there was a patio outside, wouldve sat there but it was a cold summer day. The price was very decent and proportions were more than adequate; would definitely return another time. Will try chicken and waffles next times. Mahalo. Parking: Free and plenty of space for parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible for wheelchaur bound patrons.
Service is good on the weekend, especially om Sunday. Came here for the first time on a weekday it was bad. Drinks came with the food. The food was not the greatest the fry so cold. I wont be coming back here 100%
This is a great place, We visited with our friends and co-workers. The food and service was really great everything was on point. However I would say they need to bring more vegetarian and fish options without other meat dishes to attract different cultures. Two of my friends couldnt eat anything because of that reason. Food
the staff were friendly and attentive, the location is quite empty and lacks ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was ordinary and didnt stand out. I dont think Ill be trying this place a second time.
We had a party at our place, and Smash was the perfect caterer for the occasion. The food and service was appreciated by us and all our guests! From day one they helped us getting the food menu ready and matched the theme of the party. The display was perfect and the attention to details was amazing. Thank you Smash for exceeding our expectations. Highly recommended
Absolutely love coming to Smash Kitchen. My husband and I are vegetarians and there are quite a few great options with the favourite being the veggie burger! We ve been here a few times and had Vanessa as our host - she s fantastic, very caring and very friendly! If we didn t come back for the food we d come back for her service! :)
Smash Kitchen Bar has a lively atmosphere with a diverse menu featuring comfort food favorites and creative cocktails! The service is friendly, and the portions are generous, making it a great spot for casual dining. However, it can get quite busy, so reservations are recommended. Overall, its a solid choice for a fun and flavorful meal!
My now husband and I have dined at Smash Restaurant before and always had an amazing experience, so when we reached out to smash they connected us to OG Catering. And they catered our wedding this past weekend , July the 6th. We mainly dealt with Johnny C. And he was such a pleasure to work with. Communication was always on point, very professional & friendly. We really enjoyed meeting and working with him ! He helped co-ordinate all the essentials for catering / rentals for our wedding. He really did make it feel effortless to get it all together . Margaux was also great to work with and helped capture the fine details as well. Special thanks of course to the Chef Mark , and all the kitchen/bar staff that helped put the amazing food/menu together as well. Nothing but positive reviews from all our guests. The food was exceptional! and they were sure to cater to all dietary needs . I am a vegan myself and they made sure I had plenty of options!! We will definitely be recommending OG catering to all friends and family for all catering needs!!
Food and customer service was amazing!
Delicious comfort food! Had the truffle mushroom baked eggs for brunch at the Whitby location last week, the mushroom bucatini last night and both were great!!! Large portions, fresh ingredients, perfect balance of flavours and textures will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. Service was friendly and attentive.
We decided to come to Smash Kitchen & Bar for my partners birthday. He had been here before but I had not, being from outside the city. The food was absolutely delicious. I went with the classic smash burger, adding bacon and truffle fries as a side. The fries were delicious, fresh, and hot. The burger was delectable, definitely one of my top 5 burgers to date. Service was good to begin, but ended up getting slow by the end. Food prices are fair for what you pay these days. Vegetarian options: Veggie smash burger available, plus many other vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: They did ask if any food allergies Parking: Big lot. Lots of availability in the PM and on weekend, could see the plaza being busy during the day.
My husband and I wanted to do a lunch date and we decided to try something new. Well, I can tell you Smash Kitchen and Bar is a good place to eat. This was our first time there and I can tell you from the moment we came through the door we were greated with a smile and they showed us to our table. Our sever Veronika was amazing she made sure were were taken care of. When she took our orders and before she left she asked if there are any allergies I told her Im allergic to shrimp and she made sure to let the back know about it. The food!!! OMG! It was amazing my husband got the Jerk Chicken with sweet potato mash with vegetables but by the time I wanted to take a pic he was already eating looool! I had the Fish and Chips with truffle fries and coleslaw with a side of hand cut fries. I normally get fish and chips and its oily or its not seasoned properly or one a whole doesnt taste right but, compliments to the chef on this! Amazing job I finished everything on my plate!!!!!! We spent about $23.00-$33.00 on our meal the portions are big but, you will not be disappointed at all. All in all a great place to go, relax have a drink and have a great time hanging out with your loved ones! Vegetarian options: On the menu they have color codes to let you know what is vegetarian. Parking: There is a lot of parking spaces.
5s all around from the food to the service, everything about the Smash location in Markham is an enjoyable experience. Their team has always welcomes us with smiles and genuine conversation I live in Pickering and look forward to this location for date night a regular basis. Highly recommend! Kristen
Amazing food, amazing staff. Only good things to say about Smash Kitchen and Bar.
My wife and I got the special which was a crab sandwich. What was supposed to the crab I the sandwich was riddled with shell. More shell than crab! In both of our sandwiches. There was quite literally a coaster size of shells that we had to pull out of our mouths (embarrassing as you can imagine in a nice restaurant). While we were trying to figure out what to do with our meals, The server asked how our meals were and we complained about the shells and showed him the pile of shells. All the server said was oh I ll let the kitchen know . That was it. No offer for a different meal. No apologies. No visit from a manager .. nothing. Very poor reaction to a complaint. Will not return. Nice ambiance doesn t make up for lousy, expensive food and bad service.
This is literally the best resto ever I m so impressed with the Burgers and Pizza. They have excellent service and the atmosphere is unique. If you go you have to try the mushrooms melt burger and California love!!! Also the girl working there is so beautiful omg Food
This place was really good! I had the chicken burger as well as the Parmesan fries. It was a really good burger place and I love the seasoning and flavour profile. Super good I ll definitely be coming back.
Excellent food and service, great brunch and dinner spot in Markham that never disappoints! The drinks here are also delicious. Cant wait to go back
Great dining area for a quick bite and a celebration might.
Three of us went and well got a burger and fries. The food was really good. Excellent burger and tasty fries. The service was a bit slow but a great experience overall.
Came here today (Monday) and they had their daily specials where shareable plates are all $10. So I got the 1lb of steamed mussels for $10 WHAT A STEAL. It s was delicious and the jerk chicken was also amazing. Only downside was the service was a bit slow.
First time in this restaurant. I quite enjoyed the regular breakfast with the mashed avocado and the coffee.
I was out with work colleagues. Had the Smash lager x 2, and the Fried chicken burger. I had the House salad with house dressing. I didnt like it. The Smash burger seemed too big from the description. A colleague ordered it, though, and it actually wasnt that large. Darn.
Huge shoutout to Andrew, our server extraordinaire! We came to celebrate my daughters birthday and he made it a night to remember. He went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. Andrews professionalism, courtesy, and humor made our night truly unforgettable. The food? Absolutely fire! High-quality and tasted incredible. 10/10 would recommend!
Pork Belly Benedict is a showstopper.
Its ok. Didnt look too busy coz it was after 130pm. Lack of good service.
great overall food and atmosphere. good place for group to go to
AMAZING!!!!!!!! The mac and cheese is so scrumptious. Salad was so good. I love this place.
This was our second time here. We didnt manage our expectations well and felt disappointed from the previous visit. Smash burgers were tasty, and seafood linguine was also ok. The fish and chips were the most disappointing as the flour was too thick and heavy. Looks like the fried stuff was deteriorating. Chances given.
amazing lunch spot!
I love all dishes here: fresh, perfectly cooked, beautiful presentation. Great service <3 Food
As always 5*
Burger was ok but thats it. Server was kind and courteous.....but she told me the daily soup was a chowder like soup but it was not anything like it. Server kind enough to waive the soup but my appetite was ruined....It was cold and super salty. The steak was over cooked and the fries are oily. Bad value for money. Its more like Montana standard 20% better. I rather go Joeys.
I went to this restaurant almost after 6 years, and everything was still great the food, the customer service. Everything was amazing
I had Smash Burger last week for the first time in the Smash Kitchen and Bar. The food was really good in quality and the price was reasonable. The service could be improved by serving a faster service. Parking: The parking was free and plenty of space to park easily.
Loved every moment here.
Food was soooo good. Got the BBQ brisket grilled cheese and home fried buttermilk chicken with L.A. mac and cheese. Everything was AMAZING and the mac and cheese was sooo good. Skip the truffle fries tho, the flavour was way too intense (I like truffle fries!) and the fries were soggy with oil. Will definitely be back for the bbq brisket grilled cheese, L.A. mac and cheese, and buttermilk fried chicken. Really want to try the bbq beef croquettes but I cant eat a main and a shareable on my own On weekends they serve the brunch menu ONLY til 2pm btw, we really wanted to try their lunch/dinner so we came on a different day! Brunch looks good though!
Excellent server: Divyaa, attention to detail and always available to serve. Brunch: two kids meals (two chicken fingers) classic breakfast, buttermilk pancakes with chicken, truffle fries, and crab and shrimp sandwich. Truffle fries, absolutely recommended. Buttmilk pancakes and chicken were decent, but have to remind the kitchen not to pour the sauce on the chicken, it wasnt crunchy at all when it serve with sauce on top. The crab and shrimp was fairly ok, just overcooked the egg so the entire texture of the sandwich got driven away by the roughness, as the crab and shrimp meat already have the roughness, just need to make sure the eggs need to be slightly undercook to give the smooth mouthlytexture. Our server was excellent and cant thank her enough for her service. Parking: Lots of spot. Kid-friendliness: Great choice of kids brunch menu. Wouldnt have issue ordering any food here!
I experienced Smash for the first time at your Markham location last weekend; during a celebration of life, of my grandfather. We were greeted promptly and em pathetically, with the most sincere condolences and were all catered to in a timely and polite, caring manner. Thank you to Smash and your incredible staff for their empathy, support and excellent customer service during a difficult time in my family s lives. Thank you for accommodating us, being patient with us and for going above and beyond our expectations ! The ambiance of the restaurant and added touch of private room were both outstanding. The menu was delightful, flavorful and each plate; incredibly unique as we all shared bites of our families dinners while celebrating the life of our loved one. I would highly recommend choosing Smash for your next meal or family gathering. Thank you to the solid team of operations/ chefs and Serving staff! You really have made a lasting impression on all of us. Looking forward to frequenting your whitby location next. With sincere appreciation -Erin & Napier Family
They come nolonger have chicken an waffle, its pancakes which are absolutely horrible the pancakes sucked and they had flavor so disappointing, my girls beef brisket bowl was way better
Service was super friendly, food was great, had a good time as always!
Amazing restaurant with a really nice ambience! The quality of the food was amazing and the staff were all really friendly. 10/10 Vegetarian options: Really enjoyed that this restaurant had vegetarian options for my family and I. We had the veggie burger and it was amazing! Probably the best, most flavourful veggie burger Ive ever had. The mac and cheese was also really good. We shared chips and guac as our appetizer which was another delicious veggie menu option.
Food was great!
We came here for dinner. Nothing particularly good or bad about this restaurant. We ordered a salad, nothing standout, typical salad. We got the mussel , it s one pound, but not too big. Taste ok, the tomatoes sauce with mussel is not bad but doesn t has strong mussel flavour. We also tried the mushroom truffle pasta. This one has strong truffle aroma but taste abit bland. Experience is not a bad one, just don t have too high expectations. It s not super expensive though so I guess it s worth it.
Food quality, tastes good The waiters service attitude is a bit slow
Smash Kitchen has truly mastered the art of comfort food with their sensational mac and cheese. From the first forkful to the last, every bite is a symphony of creamy goodness and indulgent satisfaction. The mac and cheese at Smash Kitchen is the epitome of comfort food done right. The pasta is cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of bite, while the cheese sauce is luxuriously creamy and velvety smooth. Each mouthful is a heavenly blend of cheesy richness and comforting warmth. What sets Smash Kitchens mac and cheese apart is their creative twists on this classic dish. Every variation is a flavor-packed adventure that keeps you coming back for more. If youre a mac and cheese aficionado or simply seeking the ultimate comfort food fix, look no further than Smash Kitchen. Prepare to have your taste buds tantalized and your cravings satisfied beyond measure!
My favourite spot! Great burger and many other items
I visited on a weekday at 2pm when the restaurant was not busy. There was no one to greet me at the reception, and I stood waiting several minutes before being seated. Once seated, no one brought me water or came to take my order. The service was incredibly slow and unprofessional given the lack of customers. I expected much better attentiveness, even at an average restaurant.
Amazing lunch and friendly staff. I had the buttermilk fried chicken. Best ever and the fried were homemade. Not 5 star fine dining but comfort food at its best. Place needs a little work on interior which is the only reason I didn t give a 5 on atmosphere it if I was closer this would be a place I would visit often.
We came for a casual brunch and had to wait ~10 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation which was a little annoying. Service was otherwise friendly but nothing special. We got the banana french toast and chicken sandwich. The french toast had a nice crunch to it but otherwise tasted exactly like banana bread with ice cream and fruit. The chicken sandwich was pretty good but the fries it came with needed more salt that we added ourselves which wasn t a huge deal. Not the best meal out there, but it s a pleasant enough one.
Food is ok. Had a smash burger. Nothing fantastic. Bacon was carbon. 3 people, 2 apps, 3 burgers and 2 beers...$175 after tax and tip. No thanks.
Excellent food and a great location. Highly recommend the pork belly Benedict
The food, the atmosphere and the service was all 10/10. Loved our server alyssa! She was so sweet and considerate. Will be coming back with whole family and friends
Very overrated. The breakfast was below average at best. Our table ordered portobello breakfast and bacon mushroom omelette. They also didn t play the tennis matches, but tried their best to accommodate us.
Food was good. Service was slow, but servers were really nice.
I had a below par experience at Smash Kitchen recently. I ordered the seafood linguini and it was awful and that s being kind. First off, please get the right noodles for the dish, I was given fettuccine noodles instead of the linguini. The mussels were so tiny in the shells and the shrimp was tough. The biggest kicker was this dish was north of $30! I think it s safe to say I will NEVER frequent this restaurant again
I always enjoy going to smash kitchen. Friendly service and good food.
They are very nice, the food is good but not worth such expensive prices and the atmosphere is mostly clean, other than all the flies flying around near the washroom tables. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu
Very pricey for what I ate
The breakfast harsh was too salty and the gravy for it was cold. Cream for coffee ran out on a Sunday brunch and we were seated at the right side and had to get up three times to get a hold of somebody for coffee refill, following on the tea ordered 20 mins ago. Coffee was still very watery- low quality coffee.. the last time we ate here we also told them about their coffee and still not improvement attempted by the restaurant.
We got the Fried Chicken Sandwich, Pork Belly Benedict, and Mini French Toast from the Brunch Menu. We highly recommend the Mini French Toast! Good portions, nice restaurant atmosphere, reasonable prices. No wait for table of 2 on Saturday at 1pm. Fried Chicken Sandwich: chicken was crispy but slightly over cooked, bun was soggy, wasn t very spicy, fries were well seasoned and crispy Pork Belly Benedict: pork belly was well cooked but could have more flavour, delicious sauces French Toast: 10/10, best french toast we ve ever had, crispy and drenched in sauce, sweet berries
Waiter didnt listen to my order properly and gave a weird face when I wanted to substitute carbs for a salad. Gave me the carbs another waiter said I could substitute with a salad. Then proceeded to charge extra for the salad. Redid the bill to remove the salad. Waiters should slow down and listen. Other than that the experience was fine. Food is good.
The food and service were outstanding. Thank you to our server Faraaz for exceptional service and hospitality. We were very well taken care of and cant wait to go back! The menu had a great variety of options. Gluten-free bun was available for me. I loved the entire experience. Smash Kitchen, you always rock! Vegetarian options: Lots Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
Came here for brunch and tried their special. The dish was unique and tasted good but was on the heavier side so great for a hangover! We also had the hibiscus mimosa which was tasty. Our server was nice and friendly, however the hostesses at the front seemed to be a bit checked out. People were at the front waiting and they were a bit slow to get people seated. I was standing there in front of the desk for a few minutes and the two girls at the front were unaware I was waiting to be seated and finally asked. Granted I wasn t waiting that long but it still wasn t a great look. Regardless, had a decent experience here and there is ample parking in the lot. Would come again.
I have been to this location for brunch before and to the Whitby location, and on both occasions I had a very good experience. But on Friday I meant for dinner and it was horrible. First let me address the service. It was exceptional. However the food was unexplainable bad. I ordered the steak. At first it came cold. I spoke to the host and they assured me they would change it. A few minutes later they came out with a steak that tasted so bad, I deduce that the meat must have been stale and the chef did not notice. I also had to send it back. I was sorely disappointed. I came with a group of 10 and most of us had bad experiences with our mains.
Went for brunch with my partner and daughter. The service was okay...once we received our food we didnt see the server again. My boyfriend order an omelette with toast. He said the omelette was tasteless and the toast and homefries was burnt. the server didnt ask if he wanted jam or butter for his toast and since we didnt see her we couldnt ask. I ordered an eggs Benedict..it was okay...not worth it for the price. The server was nice enough to remove one of the items off our receipt. But I wouldnt ever go back there.
(2.5 stars) Staff was very friendly, but food was okay for the value. I got the tempura-battered fish and chips, and was disappointed since it was quite flavourless and greasy. The tartar sauce was not good-- Too tangy and thin. For comparison, the fish and chips at Ikea is much better and only a third of the price LOL. Interior of the restaurant was really nice though, and they had pretty good happy hour deals for the apps.
Been here multiple times over the years. Service and food is always good. Had brunch todayand it was fantastic. Food : 5/5
Terrible experience. Was brought a kids burger meal for my child, burned to a crisp. Server took the time to explain to me that s how smash patties are served here. Manager came over, was apologetic and understood the situation. Server never ended up coming back to the table, extremely unprofessional. Overall: food 6/10 and service 1.5/10
Super friendly staff & owner! Delicious food! Good wine list. Food : 5/5
Ideally I d give this place a 4.5/5 stars, but Google only permits whole numbers. Nevertheless, the food was delicious, prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent. Their buttermilk pancakes, while a small portion, were the best I ve ever tasted. Not too sweet, and the perfect texture and consistency. Their banana bread French toast were also very flavourful, but I wouldn t call them French toast. I d just call them banana bread.
Damn, where do I even start. Waiter was so full of herself and could not even recommend a dish to a customer. Mangement should have waiters try every food so they can tell customers what to get and what not to get!!! Seafood linguine needs to be taken off that menu because that taste like pasta cooked in water... Manager was very polite and addressed the concerns appropriately. Honestly, joeys, boston pizza, earls are way better than this spot. Avoid at all costs!!!
Phenomenal service and delicious food! Would 100% recommend to anyone.
Came here w/ my gf on easter weekend last year. We dodged the dinner rush as we arrived slightly earlier due to markville mall closing earlier than normal. The plaza is just west of the unionville train tracks. This plaza actually never looks full surprisingly enough and the resto is stuffed in a lil cove in the plaza. The interior of the resto is beautiful though. Theres double bar seating and big booths inside. We were seated instantly without a reservation. Theres a rotating daily/weekly special menu and a regular everyday menu. I was SUPER tempted to order the roasted lamb and chicken biryani off the daily special menu but alas, my gf doesnt like lamb and I wanted her to be able to partake in all the food. Our server was really friendly and helpful (even though I forget her name). She topped off our water constantly and always came around to check on us. Seafood linguine: There was a lot of seafood running through the dish so for $30 Id say they could justify it. It was bordering just ENOUGH on not being good value though. There was a good amount of seafood but ironically, there was too little pasta. The rosé sauce was *chefs kiss* though and the shrimps were cooked perfectly. Buttermilk fried chicken: I usually like my food very well-seasoned but even I had to agree w/ my gf that while the chicken was very moist and crunchy, it was too salty (most likely due to being brined in the buttermilk for too long). The mac n cheese was the sleeper smash hit for me though (pun intended). It was a very gourmet mac and its not a surprise since I see it in almost everyones review here on yelp. The pickled cucumbers were great to help cut through the richness of the chicken but honestly, why cant they just give straight up pickles? That had me scratching my head haha. Bread pudding: For dessert we opted for bread pudding which was listed on the daily specials menu. We were deciding b/w the bread pudding and the chocolate toffee cake but since we could always come back for the toffee cake we opted for the bread pudding. The bread pudding was a showstopper for sure. Came out with michelin star plating and the bread was still warm! It was served with chocolate ice cream and nutella drizzle. I love desserts with the hot and cold contrast so for me, this dessert was an absolute winner. All in all, the resto is kinda pricey but some items were an absolute home run. Ill be back in the future to try other items since the menus pretty big. The bbq brisket grilled cheese was calling out to me and I also want to try the brunch menu and see if it stacks up to its sister resto, NextDoor on Main Street.
The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good. Didnt try their Smashburger (which Im sure its what theyre named after) but will try it next time.
Jason and the team are fantastic. Great spot for a business lunch. Spacious and quiet enough to have a conversation. Service is fast and friendly. Parking: There are several locations nearby.
