Beautiful place and beautiful presentation of the food. Super tasty and they use local ingredients. The server was not as attentive as I thought they were going to be but the food made up for the experience.
Beautiful views in a nice location. Beware of bugs if you're outside. We went here with reservations on a weekday. It wasn't too busy and we didn't need a reso. We opted to sit outside as it was a record high warm day for October. Service was friendly but took a long time. There was some confusion amongst the staff regarding who was serving us, so it took a long time to get our orders placed. Drinks were just okay. I got a mocktail that tasted decent, and my partner got a drink she ended up disliking. I had a panini (not pictured) and she got the brisket bowl. I found the panini to be average, but the accompanying fries were great! My partner disliked her brisket bowl and found the flavour combinations and richness of the brisket didn't mesh well. One thing that really soured our experience was actually sitting outside. There were some small black flying bugs that kept biting us and leaving us itchy, as well as ladybugs (dead and alive) everywhere. It looked stuffy and crowded inside so we were initially happy to get a seat outside with a view, but all those bugs ruined it. This isn't really a fault of the restaurant, especially given the location, but I do wish there was some sort of heads up - otherwise we would have sat inside. We're more used to urban patios, so something like being bitten repeatedly didn't cross our minds right away.
Dropped in for a Sunday brunch. The menu options were mostly boring and the food was a let down other than the smoked brisket and mash. I had the hash, and the only interesting element was the Applewood sausage, but it was mostly lost under the potatoes. And I think it would be nice if it came with two eggs, given the price. The atmosphere of dining inside is like sitting in the staff breakroom. But plenty of stunning scenery to enjoy around the building before or after your meal. The servers did their best, but it felt understaffed. Would come back for lunch or dinner instead as those get better reviews.
Just finished our anniversary dinner at Nest in Uxbridge. It was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last. The food was excellent in every way. Beautifully presented, ample portions and delicious. Service was attentive but not cloying. This was especially noteworthy as their regular server was unable to attend at the last minute. Finally, as it was our anniversary, we were presented with chilled bon-bons and a glass of sparkling wine at dessert time. Atmosphere was fine. The room was comfortable and decent music played in the background. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the view from the rear of the building is truly spectacular right down to the lakeshore but you can’t see it from the restaurant. It’s reserved for the venue room and outdoor patio. Such a shame. Highly recommended.
Been here a few times for family events. And every time has been a great experience. We’ve done dinner lunch and brunch on Sunday. You can even show up just to hang out in the lounge chairs and look at the scenery with some coffee and do some work. The servers are professionals and the chef has come out a couple of times to ask how things are going. Will always come back here.
We decided to try out this place for lunch before hiking at the Trail Hub. The restaurant is small but quaint, and overlooks the larger event hall. We started with the Meatballs and Crostini. The meatballs themselves were just ok, felt they could have used more seasoning. But the tomato sauce did make up for it. We chose the Oven Baked BC Wild Caught Salmon and Beef Bowl for our mains. The salmon was slightly overcooked, but the dill sauce was a nice addition. The beef bowl was the star of the meal. It came with an incredibly generous portion of beef, plenty of greens, cheese and mushrooms, all with a flavourful vinegratte. It was very satisfying. One thing to note is that you should expect to wait a long time for your food. When we arrived the only other tables were both finishing off and paying for their meals. Despite being the only table ordering, it took about 20 minutes for our appetizer to arrive and another 25 minutes or so for our mains. The service itself however, was good. Our server was friendly and asked us the reason for our visit. Since we were celebrating our birthdays, she brought out complimentary drinks and cookies.
Went here to catch the view and check out the place on Canada Day. They didn't have the restaurant open, but we're serving drinks. There was a good truck down by the parking lot. They had some Muskoka chairs to lounge in and live music. Was a lovely space and atmosphere. Will be back.
Perfect place for a food experience getaway! Located in natural setting with nice views of the area and beyond. Restaurant on a small and cozy side with great service and delicious dishes. Main menu is simple but to choose the best dish may be difficult as they all sound fantastic (reason to keep coming back 😉). There is plenty to choose from on the drink menu which include local products. To get a spot at restaurant, be sure to make a reservation. Place is opened to public for a visit or to enjoy hiking/biking trails for a fee, then outdoor space or cozy indoor area with fireplaces await you and can grab refreshments from Handle bar grill. Recommend this establishment, worth the drive for a quality dinner experience.
Initially the service was not very good. They dont make you feel welcome. The information is not clear about the difference between the restaurant and lounge area, even when the question is asked. The brunch menu is good, it has different options. There is a limitation that does not allow you to order food from the lounge to the restaurant area, despite being steps away. In our case they offered us the option of ordering the appetizers option. The food was very good, good size and good flavor. Also, we tried a dessert which was also very good! Ill probably come back.
EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE, HIKE SOMEWHERE ELSE, ONLY COME FOR THE VIEW. WORST, RIP-OFF BRUNCH EXPERIENCE! So Nest offers only brunch all day on Sunday. The menu is limited and is nothing innovative whatsoever, just eggs, sausages, potato tots, blah, blah, blah for $25, nothing a 10 year old couldnt make. The food comes out incredibly fast, in about 2 minutes because everything is cooked already and really dry and shriveled except the eggs which is cooked to the way you want it (scrambled, etc). Only the sausage was somewhat unique, other than that, Egg Smart is so much better and more creative for a lesser price. The ambiance was horrible. Its a small room with tables very close to each other so you can hear every conversation. There is only windows on one wall and it is near shrubs and trees to the side so there is not much light coming in. Do not expect the view you see on Instagram, there is none. Its nowhere near what you expect at the Trail Hub which is an amazing view and a spacious indoor event room. We would had left before ordering but to make a reservation, you need to give them a credit card and they will charge $25/person if you cancel less than one day in advance or a no show. They do have a food truck on site which seemed okay but is slow. The trails do cost money to use, $6 per person for hiking, $15 for biking. We saw people parked at the foot of the entrance using another trail nearby, presumably for free. The staff doesnt seem to be really knowledgeable about the Trail Hub and there is no one to welcome you or to direct you. Eat somewhere else, hike/bike somewhere else, only come for the view.
Went for Brunch. It only took reservation and required a credit card to reserve. However, it didn t seem to expect our arrival as no table was cleaned up. Seated by the entrance of the hall, the trail visitors walked in and out behind us. It s a cafeteria atmosphere. Food is ok probably the most normal.
food was very mediocre. we have been to many fine dining places, but this has the bad food, extremely over priced. There is no view if you are seated inside. Disappointed Food
The restaurant has potential, but clearly has quirks to iron out. Staff seemed overwhelmed by the Friday night demand. Service was kind but slower than expected. The food was under seasoned, and felt that it had all the right components but wasn t tasted and adjusted along the way. Lots of potential, but rough around the edges
Nice place to stop
I really wanted to love this place, but it wasnt a great experience. We went for brunch. Menu was underwhelming. Food was just OK. Wed reserved a table at the windows, but were stuck in the middle next to the only other couple in the place. No condiments accompanying the order. Toast had no butter/margarine/jam, etc to accompany it. Pancakes came out without butter or syrup or anything on them. No ketchup for bacon, sausage, etc. Just not a well thought through service. The place was beautiful, but the room we ate in felt like a cafeteria without any character or charm. Parking: Lots of spots right in front
We went to nest and did the 3 course meal. The food was not bad other than my pork chop was over cooked and under seasoned, but the service was horrible and food incredibly slow for the following reasons: 1. It took 45 minutes to get our main courses after the appetizer was finished. There were 3 tables in the restaurant at this point, so no clue why it took so long, maybe the waitress didn t punch it in. 2. During our 45 minute wait between courses, the waitress never asked if we needed another drink nor did she apologize for it taking close to an hour, other than saying it s worth the wait, which it wasn t given the pork was dry. 3. We had bought sparkling water, our glasses were half full and the waitress filled our glasses with tap water. Not a big deal, but when you pay $8 for a bottle of sparkling water you want to drink it. So not a great first experience. We did the tasting menu at quetzal downtown Toronto the following night and it was incredible!!!!
Quite surprise by the quality and prices.
Restaurant has great atmosphere, wonderful view and nice patio. Disappointed with the menu options as the website indicates an extensive menu but found out that the menu is separate for patio. Not much of vegetarian options on the patio and they even ran out of food and just was not a pleasant experience. Service was substandard and overall it appeared that they were not very coordinated or well managed.
Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
Dont worry about anyone welcoming you. You have to ask for every thing from menu ketchup salt fork steak knife 6 items on the menu but half Dont have them. Ordered vegan plate but wasnt as per menu Got I U cooked eggplant.....!!!! Sent it back.
Food was nothing special, sorta tasteless - I ordered some vegan dish on the Sunday brunch menu. Our waitress was great though - no complaints on the service. FYI, we all wanted to order bowls which are on the Nest patio menu but were informed when we got there that theyre not available on Sundays, so that was also disappointing. Great views and decor.
The place was great but the food taste was subpar and the portion is less for the price. The service was ok but it took about 30 mins or more for our order to arrive. We were expecting more given that you have to do reservation on this restaurant.
We happened to stumble upon TrailHub while on a drive one day, and we loved the scenary and looked forward to dining in. The Nest Restaurant did not disappoint. Roasted Red Pepper bisque and Mushroom and Cheese Phyllo were both so well balanced and finessed. Such great starters, so delicious. Homemade bread and jersey cow butter was to die for, definitely needed that extra serving, which we were kindly provided! The serving staff was extemely kind and helpful... For our mains we were shocked at the detail and sophistication of the dishes. We had the duck as well as the hen. So incredible, flavors were multi-layered and complex, and servings were filling. Cant wait to come back!
The food was excellent and so beautifully presented. The service was a little off for our visit. The dining room is pretty but a few details could use attention to take it to the level it deserves. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice trail hike and a very enjoyable lunch. Terrific food, super friendly service. We drove from Oakville and it was worth the hour drive for us.
Relatively disappointed with our experience. Had high hopes given the beauty of Skyloft, but the restaurant does not measure up. They are going for a very austere atmosphere but they have it in a small room with tables enough to fit 26 people packed in very closely. The food is completely hit and miss. I had the Tomato 8 Different Ways which was true to its name, quite literally 7 slices of a tomato and a few cherry tomatoes done 8 different ways and it was not the culinary experience I was hoping for. My wife had the Warm Chèvre and Mushroom Phyllo Pouch and it was amazing. We had the Duck for our main which unfortunately was the worst duck we ve ever had. Its trappings were nice, but the meat itself was not done well (between our two plates, my duck was better than my wife s so some quality variance there, still not good). We both finished with the Crème Brûlée which was amazing. The watermelon juice was delicious. One wild note on the service (which was good for us), the couple beside us had been at the restaurant waiting for their food courses over 3 hours! I do believe they were compensated for the wait with some complimentary items, but there was only like 18 people being waited on by 3 servers. All in all, we came hungry and left full, but didn t feel like we got the experience they are trying sell at the Nest. For us, we would rather pay the extra train fare and eat at a fancy restaurant downtown on a similar budget. Also, the view from the main section of the building is unbelievable, I don t understand why they wouldn t seat people near that view which would compensate for a lot and add a ton a value to the evening.
If youre looking for a unique, tucked away in the beauty of nature, meal with excellent service I highly recommend The Nest. Relaxing Live music while enjoying brunch with friends was a wonderful way to start my weekend it wasnt too loud that you couldnt have a conversation over many cups of fresh coffee. Lovely little surprise we received our bill with a sample of fresh lemonade and homemade signature shortbread cookies. Parking: Lots of gravel parking.
Came here for Wed date night dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Cesar was fantastic server, explained well the meal course offering, the wine pairing. Food was delicious. A great overall experience for our anniversary.
One word High art trash. The server was rude and condescending. The food was absolute trash. Example we ordered a tomato dish served a « few » ways and it was the smallest thing I have ever seen. There was half a tomato charred one slice raw and splash of tomato on the plate. In the Durham salad there were rolling not cherry but not large tomatoes with no dressing. I can go on but you get the picture. The server talked as if we were about to have gastronomical ecstasy and we absolutely could not fathom and definitely did not deserve to eat it. Mind you we have eaten at best chef s restaurants around the world!! Absolutely do not recommend. Do not ruin your evening here. Also given my experience I suspect that most good reviews are bought and not authentic. Read them carefully and you can see who they are from. Also I got a strong sense that the establishment is racist the way they treated us so beware.
I absolutely enjoyed the environment of this place and the fact that you can do so many hiking and also eat a very healthy meal was the best activity on the weekend We had lunch at the restaurant and from food to the service everything was outstanding Laura was extremely helpful with suggestions of the meals and also explaining all the activities that can be done in the place with highly appreciated manners Will definitely come back
I went here to celebrate my birthday with a friend. Even though the food and table got a bit delayed this place was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Never knew I would actually enjoy having to wait. Kelly and her staff were really amazing. They took care of us every step of the way. Beautiful restaurant, food and ambience. I would definitely go here again just for the excellent customer service.
Delicious food, fantastic service. Great view from the main hall.
The best service I ve had in a long time! Food and atmosphere were great too!
Staff doesn t know how to talk ..Worst experience ever had.Don t waste your money
Very enjoyable restaurant. Amazing service, great menu options and extremely tasty. I had the tiger shrimp parpadelle which was superb. Highly recommend. Oh, and did I mention the view???
Outstanding meal! All of our entrees were mouth-watering, and the desserts were sublime. The staff were amazing - friendly, attentive, and professional. And the hot chocolate and cookies by the fire were a lovely gesture. Will definitely be dining here again!
Enjoyable dining experience. The food and service were both exceptional. The ambiance! The views! Everything just works so well together here.
Had the opportunity to have lunch at this hidden gem of a restaurant on GTAs highest peak, Trail Hub. Although its a small restaurant, there are some window seats that make you feel like you are at a cozy cabin in the mountains. Appreciated their farm to table approach to their meals. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was impeccable. Definitely recommend nest for your next date night and for any upcoming celebration.
We visited for lunch last week and it was delicious. We had the flatbread and salmon dish. Super impressed with both - but especially the taste of the salmon dish. It all mixed really well together. I would come back again without a doubt.
AMAZING!.. Great in every way!! SPECTACULAR service. It was our first time, and it wont be our last!! We cant wait to visit again!
Julie was our server and did a most excellent job. She was warm and attentive. The flatbread with onion and bacon was DELICIOUS. The tea was hot and we were given complimentary tiny hot chocolates to go and wee biscuits.
Excellent service, great food, wonderful atmosphere.
So excited to have discovered this tiny gem nestled within this grand venue. What a delightful birthday brunch with friends. Fabulous chef prepared meals, creative cocktails, impeccable service and even a sweet surprise or two ;) All in a location that will definitely not disappoint. Next time I will bring my sneakers. The Trail Hub also offers for very reasonable fees, incredible walking/hiking trails and disc golf.
We had an amazing dinner here. Food was fantastic and the service was first rate. This restaurant will make a great addition to Uxbridges dining experience.
Celebrated my wifes birthday at the Nest restaurant at Trail Hub and it was spectacular! One of the best meals I think I have had anywhere. Everything is thought of and carefully considered, from the flavours, to the plating, to the unique ambience and location, impeccable service, locally inspired elements, and the little extra bonus touches! The photos don t do the place justice, it s really cozy and romantic, and you can tell that they care that you have a nice fine dining experience so they include little free surprises through the meal - from the free homemade bread with homemade butter served before the appetizer, cracker and cheese after dinner, and included with dessert (we chose the vanilla soufflé and chocolate lava cake) mini shortbread cookies and hot cocoa in to go cups for you to take and enjoy in the main hall area by the fires and view. For the appetizer my wife had the chèvre phyllo and I had the Durham salad. Then we both enjoyed the extremely tender steak. Everything tasted great and was cooked perfectly. I recommend participating in the wine pairing, it was a really was a compliment to the experience. They also surprised us both with a glass of sparkling wine as well as a small box of chocolates for my wifes birthday. Amazing! Totally worth the visit, it won t stay a hidden gem for long!
Really good food and service! Second time we ve been here and both time were amazing! Food
Great new hidden gem in Uxbridge, literally! Hidden up in the highest point of Durham region is a ski chalet type building offering many options from trail exploring to Nest - a cozy and relaxing higher-end restaurant featuring a farm-to-table style experience. We went for their Valentine s Day pre-fix as our first visit, it didn t disappoint. From the small-scale and intimate atmosphere to the AMAZING staff, it was a great experience. *Their staff where one of the best parts of the experience, so friendly and attentive - ensuring the perfect night!* We had the scallops, Cornish hen and lamb chops - all of which were excellent. Can t wait to go back for lunch, brunch and dinner to explore further !!
Fantastic new restaurant. Sources food locally from in Durham Region, good sized portions and friendly and inviting atmosphere. Well done!
Amazing location. Great service. Friendly staff. Food was fantastic. Sit by the fire after and enjoy a delicious hot chocolate/shortbread cookie. Will be going back soon. Definitely recommended
I was pleasantly surprised. I expected it to be good, but it was even better than that. It was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. Nest doesnt have the fanciest of spaces, that is quickly forgotten, however, when you experience the food and drink. I had the Duck Carpaccio, The Pork and finished with the Apple Crumble, the others had the Hen and Pickerel. We were also treated to Cheese and Cracker between courses and Hot Chocolate with a Shortbread while we waited for our bill, which we were able to do while we sat in Trailhubs beautiful event space by the fireplace. I would be remiss in not mentioning their local sourcing, especially beers and wines, which I really appreciate. Please go, it is a great experience.
We had an amazing experience tonight. The food was amazing and is obviously made with care and in the moment. The staff were lovely and attentive but not intrusive. Brian the head chef came and shared the story behind our food which is just what you want at a farm to table experience. Having the night cap of hot chocolate and cookies by the fire just added to the experience and the wonderful environment.
Great food, very friendly staff. Pickerel dinner was fantastic.
We had an amazing experience visiting the Nest (inside the Trail Hub). The staff and the food was fabulous. We are planning on going back again really soon. Highly recommended trying it out Vegetarian options: My wife is Vegan and the menu offerings had her covered.
Impressive service from beginning to end and no detail spared. Im thankful that we chose Nest for our date night. Will definitely be back again! Standouts for us: -Our server was delightful and incredibly attentive. Everything was timed perfectly so there was no delay, nothing forgotten, it just flowed. -The Chef came out to introduce himself and provided a little story behind the food which sets this dining experience apart from others. - pleasantly surprised by small cheese plates they serve before dessert and the to-go warm cidars and bite sized cookies for the road - lovely touch.
Our group of 6 had dinner last night at the Nest, and we were beyond happy with our meal. We all had at table dhote service, which included an appetizer, main and dessert. All the courses were superb; we cant wait to go back!
The food and absolutely amazing. The staff is friendly, the views amazing and the food is outstanding. Wheelchair accessibility: Very open concept, flat entrance and large accessible washroom.
Fantastic food , great atmosphere and great service. Kelly and team were very personable and knowledgeable. Looking forward to booking our team celebration dinner in January.
Beautiful atmosphere, top notch service and amazing food! Perfect dining experience without the hassle of downtown Toronto. Chef Brian is a genius and his culinary talents shine on every plate and offering. We can t wait to go back!
We attended the holiday brunch. We were charged $52 for 4 small cups of drip coffee with a shot of Baileys in each for reference, a 750ml bottle of Baileys is $32. Absolutely outrageous pricing and we were not advised of the price when ordering and it was not on the menu. Food was mediocre. Service was lovely though, no complaints there. I don t think we would return.
I took my parents & aunt here today for Christmas Brunch - what a wonderful experience. The seasonal cocktails, food & service were exceptional and the overall experience was amazing. We were able chat and enjoy a longer stay in front of the warm fireplaces inside which was really nice time together. The whole place is decorated beautifully - thank you for an amazing Christmas gift!
