1001 3e Avenue E, Val-d'Or, QC J9P 0J7, Canada
Sleek rooms in a modern conference hotel offering an elegant restaurant, a bar & a gym.
This hotel is far from everything, bad experience at check-in my reservation was cancelled by their system although I had booked through Expedia and had a confirmation number.||I got the runaround by woman at front desk saying that my credit card was declined and that is why my reservation got cancelled before I got there. Firstly my credit card was working fine and had been using it all week snd second why are you preauthourizing my card prior to my checkin? ||It gets worse, the shower does not work properly the temperature fluctuates from scalding hot to freezing cold.
The room was comfortable and the burger was good but it is extremely overpriced and it takes advantage of being one of the only hotels in the area.||The restaurant service took forever and lacked the finesse of a hotel that charges those kind of prices.||The young man at reception is their greatest asset.
We got there Saturday evening, when we went to our room when my wife wanted to use the sink, she said the sink is clogged but the water is going down really slow. So she informed the hotel staff about the sink. They didn't have tools for it. They said that they will move us to another room and give us a discount for the inconveniences. When my wife got back she informed me that they won't move us to another room. So I decided to work on the sink myself, me being a handyman with innovation. I used one of my cable chargers to break the clog. Finally sometime later the clogged broke through. So we never got the discount and the room changed. They only sent us a thank you for staying, no discount was mentioned. Make sure you get that discount before you leave the hotel, cause they won't do it if they said you'll get it after. I think they are very unprofessional and this hotel used to be a good place to stay. I don't know if I will stay there again. P.s. of course I damage my cable and hotel should consider the well being of their guests. Big thumbs down!!!!!!!!!
I think the hotel is pretty nice, especially with the garden atrium part. The room was very clean and the staff friendly, however you need to ask to have your room cleaned in the morning and not use the door hanger like most hotels, even though they have them. The front desk did not tell me that you had to ask to have your room clean and they also did not tell me that there was no wifi password. So I was disappointed by the room not being cleaned - cause I really wanted my room clean since I don't go away much and because I am paying anyway I may as well be a princess and have someone clean my room!😆. I got over it though and glad that gave me towels at least.😜 They get 4 stars still
Not a 4 star at best a 2 stars. I spend my life in hotel never will be back tell all your friends or enemies…. Terrible dirty had to change bed sheets take the ones from the pull out couch and 300$ a night stay away!!!!!! AC not functional ridiculous. Sever was great second shift! Asked for ear plugs because of party not available….
Meh, there are better options out there.||There was no AC in the conference area, which made things very uncomfortable for out 300+ ladies. ||A few guest rooms had no AC.||Restaurant is closed int eh afternoon||If the hotel is full, there is no hot water in the shower.||Bed linens were worn thin and had holes. ||A disappointing stay
The lobby is invitingly clean and wide. I was originally booked at room 204 but when i got there to use the toilet there was a drop of urine on the seat and the water looks like someone flushed a toilet tissue that didn’t flush through. I called the reception and i had to go downstairs to change my room. As i was moved to room 208, the window was open and wouldn’t close. I called the reception again and no one answer. I called using my phone and finally i got an answer. The receptionist told me to stay in the room and she’ll bring me a new card. I was finally moved to room 210. Room is clean but i still question if it’s clean as my first room looked like it wasn’t. Also, decided to go eat out instead of the hotel restaurant due to the first event in room 204. I wouldve loved to eat in as i already drove 9hrs. As i was taking a shower, i slipped twice in the bathtub while showering and getting out of the shower. Definitely will not comeback. I usually take hotels that is locally situated and not a commercial one to give them the income. I couldve honestly booked a much more expensive one as its paid through work. Just disappointed. Definitely will pass for the next time. The 2 stars is for the receptionist. She’s nice. I spoke english although i know french and she didnt hesitate to serve me in english.
I am not sure how this hotel is considered 4 star. It is in very poor condition. Nothing works ...ice machine, 90% of the equipment in the gym, TV etc. So disappointing but it makes sense why all the other hotels in Val D'Or where sold out and this one seemed empty. You only get room service if you ask. Not even to empty garbage and refresh the coffee and tea.
Rooms: No water pressure no water for a good shower or flush toilet Food and drinks: No breakfast included Rooms : 1/5 |
Hotel was clean room was big with all the amenities. Staff was cooperative and friendly. Internet was not stable.
Vending machine full, courteous and welcoming staff. Efficient and fast 24-hour service. Thanks to the night team who monitor our cars in the parking lot. I stayed for work. In addition, all my requests were accommodated, which was really practical. (Microwave access at all times, fridge etc...) Small downside, the laundry room is out of order and some broken equipment in the gym.
drug dealer, kidnapping... not the best place for the family
Mold in the bed anything
HORRIBLE as a Hotel!!!!! *There are NO microwaves in the rooms (in 2024 ). * The WiFi is so bad that we often lose connection (and that s WHEN we manage to connect) * The fridge is so small that it is unthinkable to do a little grocery shopping for the week. * NO breakfast included in the packages * Ice machines have been broken for months. * The gym is not even open 24/7 for landlords Really ? The WORST HOTEL I have seen in at least 20 years!!!!!!!!
The Receptionist and the receptionist perfect service The rooms are always impeccable But the service for brunch on weekends is always disappointing, never a hello, no fresh coffee made, and the scrambled eggs were not great last Sunday and the service really, we are very disappointed as far as hire people from outside Quebec they will have to learn what good customer service is because it is mediocre
Warm and courteous welcome. However excessive price for the quality. I got a room for one night with only one bed for $379. There was only a shower (no bath). Very disappointing. Rooms: Warm and courteous welcome. However excessive price for the quality of the room. I got a room for one night with only a bed (old mattress that was too soft) for $379. There was only a shower (no bath). Very disappointing.
Room ok, but not for the price paid Bathtub not washed, dirt encrusted in the corners of the bathtub. Lunch is not included in the room and the buffet is not great
Rooms: Lit confortable Rooms
Very disappointed with my hotel which I would have preferred in the past. very poor value for money. several breaks and let go. Disappointing to see that they have reached this point.... You can catch up and make major corrections.
Bedroom was not clean. Blood stains on bed and blanket. Tv was damaged. When I reported they only came to check when it was 10pm my kids were about to sleep.
The most beautiful hotel in Val-D or. Comfortable and good meal. Great staff.
90s technology! to avoid
Although we booked at the last minute our room was spotless. We had a little difficulty finding the place due to the numerous works in the streets of the city. I would have liked to have lunch included with the cost of the room.
I was a musician for a conference evening. It s very easy to access and spacious! The food is excellent!
The value for money is simply not there. $335+tax. The cleanliness of the room left something to be desired. The soundproofing is poor. The pillows are incredibly hard! The main restaurant is only open 2 days a week.
Clean place. Not modern but overall well maintained. All it needs is an electric car socket. Rooms: Very clean.
Correct, nothing more. We were in the middle of the Abitibi Cycling Tour, so big prizes. Breakfast without croissant for $24 is expensive!
Well located, quiet, the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Everything was good
I share the 5 day stay for 4 people. Warm welcome The rooms 1 room the 2 cups are not clean, the TV does not work Room 2 the coffee maker does not work. Room 3 the hair dryer does not work. Room 4 everything is fine. We notify reception. Returning to the room, the cleaning lady did not come and the problems in the rooms were not resolved. We. Had to go to reception to get towels, go to the bar to get cups for coffee The cleaning lady didnt see anyone there. No fixing things that dont work. In terms of service, cleanliness, functional equipment, zero. In addition, a college student arrived at his room, the door was left wide open..... I dont recommend. 1500.00/5 days for a room. Ordinary small with questionable housekeeping, no service despite the fact that we had requested service every day. Here are my cups and my bath. Judge for yourself.
I am beyond disappointed with this hotel!! We are sitting in our room after a very long day visiting my very ailing brother for 3 days only to return to an unkept room with no garbage cans emptied hardly no toilet paper, no clean towels, no beds made, no coffee pods replenished and we are paying $1014.00 for 3 nights.. no breakfast included I might add.. Sure the concierge had reasons for their blunder but honestly there is a crack in the system.. I am sorry he says, next time we will do better, I am the only one here and yes he did give us our towels and toilet paper but really!! If there is somewhere else you can stay do it!! As we were leaving this hotel to go back home .. I write a very descriptive email to the hotel manager and although it was a very bad experience I am satisfied with his apology and was granted a small credit towards the cost of our room rate. I felt somewhat justified..
Nothing special for the price. Average gym. No lunch included.
Nothing beats stains on furniture lol
It was very comfy. Maybe have an extra blanket a side and pillows.
Nice but small detail overlooked eg no toilet paper holder
Disappointed, for the price no breakfast
Super awesome Hotel. I feel great being here.
Very good! Nice modern clean place with really large rooms and great food. Right on the snowmobile trail. Highly recommended for snowmobiling. Rooms: Large, very nice. Safety: Card access for all doors. Food and drinks: Smokes meet clubhouse!
Drove ten hours from Ontario with a group of 12 to snowmobile and stay here for 6 days. Upon arrival we were told our reservation did not exist. I showed front desk the reservation under my name for the dates. But they said we have no room available. Got a king bed for one night. So we hauled all our stuff for 6 days to thing king bed room. I kept visiting front desk to speak to a manager. After 5 or so hours. We get told they figured it out and move us to a two queen bedroom. Perfect. But my reservation was for a two queen suite. Our room was so small you barely had room to get dressed. I reached out to the manger over email about this incident and no response at all from head office. So sledders beware, before you make the 10 hour drive. They definitely seemed unorganized and not even willing to discount our first night or anything for the stressful mix up. Such a shame we will be going to another hotel when we go back.
I expected more service for the price. If you want the room cleaned; ask for it. Breakfast is not a buffe, but a la carte that is paid for separately. The ventilation is noicey but needed to drive the moist from the room. Food and drinks: The food was good.
Hotel was ok, had a good sleep after a long drive. Bed was comfortable. But the price was too high for what we got. No microwave in the lobby or the rooms to heat up our food. Only 1 microwave in the hotel which is in the gym and cant access after 10pm. But overall what matters is we had a good sleep before our 12h drive ahead.
Excellent location and service for snowmobilers travelling in as access to trail is right in front and good parking for trailers!
Best spot in valdor to bring a truck and trailer.
Spent 3 nights at this hotel. Great location, right on the trail, huge parking lot for trucks and trailers while also still leaving room to leave the sleds out overnight. 2 Restaurants on site. The sports bar had good food but very slow service (think they are understaffed for the volume of people over the weekend). Coffee (not breakfast) was complimentary each morning at either restaurant which was nice to wake up to. Only thing missing was a hot tub and we never had any house keeping come in to up keep the room for us during our stay.
Great hotel.
Very good hotel. We were traveling back and used this hotel for a night stay. Check in and out was easy. One issue I faced was there were no water fountain or taps that I could use for drinking and refill my bottles. Had to go to gym every time. While leaving we as a family were noisy and the person next room was not happy with us. I could not apologize but it happens when you check out early morning with kids.
The hotel is OK but nothing more. I have stayed there a few times but am increasingly disappointed. The hotel is clean and the price is fair but several things could be improved. Among other things, the equipment which is not always functional, the lack of employees to serve you if necessary, the restaurant closed and above all, the fact that we cannot be guaranteed a room on the ground floor during of the reservation. Could really be improved. Food and drinks: Restaurant closed when we left
Room was beyond what we expected, and customer service at night was awesome. Asked about room service, and was advised since it was Boxing Day the staff would be working in the morning. Restaurant is open, but confusing to order as no staff was there to take my order. There is no room menu to order from. Still a nice Hotel, but breakfast to the room options are non-exisitant.
We only spent half a night there before heading back.
Great place, lots of space in the rooms. Comfortable beddings
We have stayed at the Forestel a couple of times and it is a comfortable, clean, and reliable hotel. The drive to get to the Abitibi is long so it is really nice to walk in to a friendly greeting, and no hassles with check-in. The hotel is in a convenient location not far from downtown. The rooms are quiet, the beds are cozy, the showers are hot.
Room with a super comfortable bed, we love it, next to the snowmobile trail.
first visit and the last for us. Buffet $44 per person really not much, $20 would have been a fair price. the staff is still very nice.
It was good, the hotel was clean and the welcome was warm.
Very nice meeting room, very good service
The only complaint I have was that we were charged for breakfast and were unaware that it was not included with the Expedia booking. It was no fault of the Hotel Forrestel. Great location and great stay.
You are overpriced. We came as a snowmobile group and you never provided any incentive to stay at your hotel. Almost every hotel we stay at offers a snowmobile package, or is reasonably priced. You do neither. We have been coming the Forestel for years, but no more. $270 for a room is ridiculous, and the most expensive on our trip by more than $100. We made reservations for your restaurant only to find out it was closed due to a shortage of kitchen staff. We ate in the bar and were told when we tried to order that half the menu wasnt available. But there you are still charging $270 a night!!! The breakfasr buffet is a rip off at $25. Im not sure waht happened to your hotel; new management, owners, whatever, but snowmobilers will quickly bail on your lousy service and ridculous pricing. Maybe you dont need our business, or dont care, but anytime Ive been there, I see lots of snowmobiles that would represent a significant revenue stream.
Comfy bed and the warmest blanket ever
We have been coming to the Forestel for many years - 15+ as part of our snowmobile trips to the region. In the past it was something to look forward to, clean spacious rooms, wonderful staff, great food, a fun bar filled with friendly people. Over the past few years this experience has been going down hill, and this year was by far the worst and frankly we will try for alternative accommodations next year or avoid the town all together. Our checkin experience was probably the worst I have ever experienced. We had to argue about how many rooms we had booked - even though I had pre-paid and had the receipt. The last of our rooms were not delivered on until 11:15 PM - absolutely unacceptable. The young man at the front desk had tears in his eyes as he was truly trying to help out but policy kept some of the rooms blocked for some reason. I would think the first policy should be to accommodate guests - especially if they have already paid. The bar was fine - the staff, friendly and courteous. The restaurant - wow, no options, terrible buffet and top dollar charged - Sunday there was not food at all because the cooks didnt show up to work... Not sure what happened to this once favored destination, but clear mismanagement has turned us away. The worst part of all is that we were expected to accept this service as a simple sign of the times - pathetic and unacceptable
Very bad service at the restaurant. Cold diner. Waitress doing ger best to be unfriendly and make things difficult
Rooms: Nice clean Rooms
We have stayed at Forestel for 10 years now each winter once or twice while snowmobiling. The accessibility to the hotel from the trail is perfect and the quality of the rooms and size of rooms are great. Parking our snowmobiles outside our rooms in view is also perfect. BUT, in the last 2-3 years the food and service in the restaurant and bar is AWEFUL. We used to have fantastic, high quality sit down meals for dinner and in the bar the service was amazing but both are not even close to the value we are paying to stay here. Unless things change we may be looking for another place to stay.
After a 20km cross-country ski hike, we wanted a good shower before going to dinner. What a disappointment to learn that our room was not ready when we arrived around 4:45 p.m. We had an appointment for dinner at 6:00 p.m. We had access to our room around 5:30 p.m. We understand that we are facing a labor shortage, it is still disappointing to have this waiting time even though we had taken the time to reserve 2 days in advance through the hotels website. For the rest of the stay, everything went well.
Our rooms were not available on check-in until late in the evening and the restaurant was buffet only for dinner and breakfast.
This hotel is very beautiful!
Great spot on the east side of Val-d Or. staff was excellent, rooms were clean, most rooms in mining towns are disgusting ( ) this was beautiful. My 8yr son thought breakfast was 9.5/10 cause there was a robot working the floor. Yeah a robot!
We booked this hotel based on it being located near a snowmobile trail. The trail went right to the hotel which was amazing. The rooms were nice, clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful with all our questions. AND OMG their buffet breakfast was the best breakfast I ve ever had. We certainly are returning to this place.
Excellent hotel with friendly and accommodating front desk service. Conversely, breakfast and dinner are expensive and service is very slow. This is only because the food service is very much understaffed and three good natured ladies serve over 50 people in the dining hall.
Food and drinks: The restaurant is overpriced for the type of food offered. Rooms
I am a snowmobiler. Hotel Forestel is right on the snowmobile trail. Easy access to the trails and fuel downtown. Plenty of parking for the sleds. Restaurant on site serves a great breakfast and good meals for dinner. The rooms are nice and fairly updated. If I could recommend anything for this hotel, it would be this: in the winter, snowmobiles probably make up a good portion of their business. A secure compound or installation of high resolution security cameras would be an excellent upgrade to make sure theft is not a problem. We didnt have anything stolen, but its becoming a problem in Quebec for some reason. A warm area, such as a garage would be a great addition as well to make minor repairs if needed. I know this would cost the hotel money, but it would be a great idea to know if you needed to fix something on your sled, there would be a warm place to do it. Just an idea. The prices have gone way up, probably because of Covid, but hopefully they will come down over time. All in all, Hotel Forestel is a great place to stay.
I would usually rate this hotel as a 4 star, unfortunately our last experience was not great. This past weekend we snowmobiled to the hotel and when we arrived at 6pm there was a lobby full of people waiting to check in. There were no rooms ready. We only received 2 out of the 3 rooms I reserved. Luckily we were able to fit everyone in the 2 rooms (thank goodness for pullout couches). We didnt get to check in until 11:00PM. when I asked at check in about our rooms, and when we could expect them the attendant was very rude. I feel that he could of handled our experience better. There was other rooms ready in the hallway with doors open, but he couldnt put us in them because that wasnt the type of room we reserved. He took care of people coming in looking for accommodations without a reservation before the people that had a reservation. 2 gentlemen slept in the bar in a booth because their room wasnt ready. Unfortunately the hotel is understaffed and cant handle the volume of reservations. The waitress at the restaurant was very exceptional. again they are understaffed and she hustled to get food to everyone until closing, and then was there for breakfast at 6:30AM. Its unfortunate that this lovely hotel isnt being properly staffed. It was mentioned by the front desk that this has been happening since October.... We did receive a discount for the rooms we received, however we had to make a fuss to get it.
Checkin was completely BRUTAL on the arrival date. It was the busiest weekend ever for Snowmobilers to get their room. We travelled 11 hours to get to this hotel. We arrived at 6:30pm. Our room was not ready to obtain as well as many others. The hotel only had 2 people preparing rooms for that date so we were told by Front Desk. We finally got our room at 11:30pm. We were so tired and frustrated!! Many people were. Lobby was full of people wanting to check in. There was no status about when we could get a room from the front desk just that we were next to get a room which was the story for 3+ hours. Really!! So disappointed!! What on earth happened to checkin on Friday February 24, 2023? Just Brutal brutal brutal.
It s been 4 years since I have been to Val d Or and this was the first time I stayed at the Forestel. Always stayed at the L Escale Hotel Suites. They were booked. Went on a snow mobile trip with 4 others. The Forestel is very close to the trails and we didn t have to drive through town. Cant say anything negative about the hotel, the staff, the food or the total experience. Everything was better than expected. Pricing was a little higher than we wanted to pay but we booked closer to our stay nights. It also included breakfast which was more than what we needed. Food was good. Had the buffet and the selection and quality was fine. Great service from the servers and staff. Hotel was busy with business and snow mobile travellers but staffing was well managed. This experience was all about expectations and they were exceeded. No issue or reservations going back to this hotel again. Despite the challenges we are all faced with with staffing and post Covid challenges, this hotel has done well. Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Forestel.
Not cheap but beautiful rooms and a great place to stay.
Snowmobiling in the area and staying at the Forestel, we had a breakdown and needed parts, front desk staff went above and beyond helping us locate parts and even offer to drive us 3 1/2 hours each way to get them! Rooms were great and staff were awesome, highly recommend!!
This is a great place for snowmobilers. Ask for the snowmobiler special. It is a fancy place, not like a small town hotel. Very modern, giant showers, lots of space. Parking for 20 ir 30 large snowmobile trailers.
Super nice hotel really good cheese burger at bar meat was fresh with great flavor
Always perfect. Only problem with the lack of manpower just 1 waitress at the restaurant during a trade show.
Nice hotel. Unfortunately restaurant closed on Sundays.
No electrical terminal available, no dial in the room, not enough coffee for two days
Beautiful conference room.
Comfortable, friendly staff.
So disappointing. I ve been coming here for years and it s the last time I will be staying there. Last time the shower didn t work, they had to move us to another room which ok it happens. We wanted to give them another try. This time, we arrived in the room and the bed sheets were not changed. Lots of hair and dog hair on the bed. It was disgusting. I do not recommend this hotel anymore and I will not be coming back!
A room with King site bed was asked for ... Was expecting à little bigger room, with à sofa for seating. Otherwise really Nice room.
Nice variety at the brunch buffet. Very good service!
Ok
great service and lots of choice for brunch
Nice room! Dinner was good too. Friendly and quick service. The breakfast buffet is ok. The cold options are good, but the hot foods could be better .
Rooms: Nice rooms, very clean Walkability: Not close to anything Town aint big so not too worry but cant go to stores or restaurants on foot! Food and drinks: Restaurant food is awesome! Noteworthy details: Staff is super nice I highly recommend to go there!
Ill start with the positive point, the bed is more than comfortable. Negative Lack of labor Television not functional (I went to see the front desk to have it checked, they were supposed to come and check it, no one came) The morning of my departure I informed the person at reception and was answered as if I was a means that nothing bothered me much. Last but not least, the bedside lights dont work either. Room price $250 I find it very ordinary
I would not recommend this hotel. Their restaurant employee, Shany as it is written on the receipt, puts liquid paper on your Tip and Total amount to giver herself more tip. Even at breakfast time when it s a buffet (24$ nonetheless) with no service - when you want to be a respectful hotel with a good reputation, you don t go and try to screw up your customers like that. Be aware if you re a guest and going to the restaurant!
2023 Update : Called there in the spring to reserve a room, they tried to charge over $600 for a one-night stay (there were very few rooms left available that weekend due to a mill shutdown). Nice try, you lost two clients just because you thought you could take advantage of room availabilty in Val dOr. Nice, modern rooms. Unhelpful, rude front desk staff - especially when there is a problem with a reservation.
Excellent place to stay, everything is super clean, the service is spectacular, they even speak in Spanish, it has a restaurant, a gym, a really good place. A little far from the city but nothing to worry about.
Great hotel, just at the entrance of Val dOr, rooms are nice, the staff courteous. We have been there, prior to this trip with our dog, she loves it and its one of the greatest stay if you have your pet. This time I was just with my wife, the room was peacefull and the king bed amazing. They were very convenient at the bar/restaurant even with our late arrival.
Staff is nice and speak English. Rooms were clean and large. Lots of parking and when I went pricing was good.
Nice big rooms. Clean Rooms: Lots of space. Clean Rooms : 4/5 |
Moisture insects in the drawers when we arrived. Air conditioning that is out of sync with the controller. Lack of towels and washcloths. No bedding and pillow for the sofa bed on arrival. They did not clean the room the next day and did not collect our bath towels to replace them. I cut my stay short by one night and will never return to Forestel.
I didnt go to sleep there, only went to see a coat sale in one of their large rooms.
I stopped there for work. I arrived around 8:30 p.m. and had time to eat at the hotel restaurant which closes at 9 p.m. The only downside is that lunch is not served before 7 a.m., a little too late for the workers but overall I had a good rest there.
A clean pleasant Hotel welcomes visitors and business travelers to Val DOr
Very bad service no access to the sheets the sofa bed was not made the dirty sheets were still there in a ball and no way to get other towels because the person who has access to the linen room is the only one with the key ridiculous !!! It was a first time in this hotel and the last very poor management of this establishment!! Rooms: Sofa bed not made
SUPERB PLACE TO SLEEP AND SUPERB MEETING
The rooms are good, but the rest of the hotel is really not great.
Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. We had an issue with the room and reception offered to change us to a different room right away. The issue was with the water temperature and pressure in the shower. Water was too hot and the shower head would not open up fully. The bathroom exhaust fan switch didnt function so the humidity built up from the extended shower stayed in the room. In addition, there were 4 reading lights attached to the head board of each queen size bed but only one functioned. There werent enough places to hang our wet jackets after coming inside from the pouring rain. However, the Beds were comfortable and clean and we didnt hear noise next to us or in the corridor. We were so tired that in the end these were the 2 most important things.
Good hotel, the rooms were nice enough. A little bit of a mix up with the bill, but was straightened out within the hour. My only dislike was there was never any room service in the week I was there. I had to get the coffee pods myself. After a week, it was getting a bit much with the garbage can getting full and the sheets on the bed coming off
Very good place Rooms: Quite spacious good service
For 15 years, we have used the services of Forestel to accommodate our employees during working days in Val dOr and always well served. Unfortunately in the last year the service has deteriorated and the prices have increased significantly, ex $609 per night for a basic room in the middle of the week arriving at 11 p.m. and leaving at 9 a.m. In addition, on a few occasions we were victims of overbooking, our reservation was canceled without notice. Quite ordinary when you arrive after a day of work at -22 and you want to wash and sleep warm and there is nothing more available for you. The trust is no longer there and we will turn to another establishment.
Very good place for a conference.
The new suite down stairs are nice but the service wen you call to book is terrible.
Unwelcoming night staff. Pillow too big and uncomfortable. Television does not work, lags. Slow Wi-Fi internet. Price too expensive. Defective electric car terminal.
congratulations on your brunch which is very good with FINALLY a real glass for the juice because all the other establishments give us a thimble-sized glass. For someone who doesnt drink coffee, its appreciated. My only problem is that your communication is a translation from English with incomprehensible text when there are accents for example.
was surprised at the price, the bug traps near pillows, broken side lamp, massive water accumulation at the window that can lead to mold, stains on the sofa and ceiling damage. staff were friendly but the food was mediocre. will not come back.
I stayed there for training in one of the hotels conference rooms. The room was spotless. The on-site restaurant offers a varied menu for all tastes no matter the time of day. A note to add, the portions are huge so find out if you plan to take several dishes (this is what we call a big problem) I will definitely go back Rooms: Clean, large rooms with everything needed for your stay. My room had a huge work surface with a desk chair, an L-shaped sofa that could accommodate at least 4 people, and lots of lights. Walkability: This hotel is located a few minutes outside the city so you must plan a mode of transportation to get there as well as to take advantage of the services offered in the city of Val dOr
Disappointment - I booked a 2 bed room - I took the time to ask if the lunch buffet was still available and included which I was told in the affirmative. To my great disappointment, lunch was not included - no buffet - at this price not even a continental type lunch... very cheap. Then the rooms . We had to change because the bed had an unpleasant smell in room 127. The toilets... the 127 the shower water not adjustable hot dangerous... The fan was not working We were changed to the 125 The toilet heating did not work... the heater was demolished...: Its tough for one night I was a good customer at the time Now I wont be...
After a 7 hr drive to Val d Or we were excited to stay at a nice hotel. We checked in with a very nice employee at the front (perfectly bilingual and kind). Unfortunately these were some of the observations we made in the room and hotel: - Big brown stain on pillow - Brown stains on couch (too gross to actually sit on) - No wifi password or instructions on how to get wifi given to me when I checked in - No parking available close to hotel door - People making noise all night in hallway as this hotel hosts many banquet parties - People smoking cigarettes at night and in morning directly outside of room, can t open blinds or strangers will see into our room. Also important to note these people were smoking next to a non smoking sign. - Elevator had no button so we had to wait for somebody to come down for the doors to open. (We had a lot of luggage with us and didn t want to use the stairs) - Mold in the shower (on the fan and around the tub) - $275 for one night (paid $400 for one night once prior) - Only one key card given to me at check in - Someone knocked and attempted to enter our room at 9:30am to check if the room was empty. They didn t give me enough time to answer the door before their attempt to enter the room. We could have been sleeping or in the bathroom. At check out I explained to reception some of the issues we had with our stay, namely the stains, mold and people s attempt to enter our room. The employee took note of the issues and promised a price adjustment. This was Saturday it is now Monday evening and I still haven t received this adjustment. I called to ask for an electronic receipt and the employee on the phone kept repeating to me that she only works weekends and doesn t have the ability to help me with getting more information regarding the price adjustment. She repeated herself over and over in what seemed like an attempt to get me off the phone. This is my first ever google review, I don t want others traveling through Val d Or to experience what we did at $275/night. I apologize to the guy at reception he was super nice. We checked in with a very friendly employee at the reception (perfectly bilingual and kind). Here are some of the observations we made: - brown stain on the pillow - Brown spots on the armchair - No wifi password or instructions on how to get wifi given to me - No parking available near the hotel door - People make noise all night in the hallway because this hotel hosts many banquets - People who smoke cigarettes at night and in the morning outside the room cannot open the blinds, otherwise strangers will see our room. These people were smoking next to a no smoking sign. - The elevator didnt have a button (We had a lot of luggage with us and didnt want to use the stairs) - Mold in the shower (on the fan and around the bathtub) - almost $300 for one night (paid $400 for one night once before) - Only one key card given to me upon arrival - Someone knocked and tried to enter our room at 9:30am to check if the room was empty. They did not give me enough time to open the door before attempting to enter the room. We could have slept or in the bathroom. The employee noted the issues and promised a price adjustment. I called to request an electronic receipt and the employee on the phone kept telling me that she only works weekends and does not have the ability to help me get more. information regarding price adjustments. It repeated itself over and over in what seemed like an attempt to get me to hang up.
Reservation 2 weeks before dates of stay for a suite impossible to have a suite? Room for 4 p.m. impossible before 4:45 p.m. Restaurant closed Friday evening Saturday evening Sunday for lunch Very icy entry not abrasive We had 4 rooms Very disappointed for the advertising you are doing that our next stay we will go see the competition THANKS
My husband and I arrived at 5:15 PM and even when check-in time is at 4 PM, our room still wasnt ready. My husband kindly asked the receptionist if we could get another room but she was very rude and said that she couldnt help us, that we had to wait for 45 minutes. My husband asked her if he could speak to the manager. She said that there was no manager because it was Sunday. We finally got our room ready after one hour.
Didnt sleep there
Rooms clean, service just fair
Very long wait at check in blatant lack of staff error on reservation dates Hotel overlet the rooms, so I was taken out of the hotel because my room was given to another visitor in addition to throwing me into the street, they charge me at night anyway very serious management problem, no service, no cleaning.. Overwhelmed staff who dont know what to do. The lady who identifies herself as the manager has no idea what she is doing. opened a file with my credit card company because the hotel refuses to reimburse me for the extra night.
Beautiful room. Very clean.
The staff is professional and friendly and is led by leaders in the field.
It is a very fancy hotel. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable. Didnt like the breakfast. It wasnt great but expensive! The employee were nice and helpful. Rooms : 5/5
No maintenance after the first night. The attendant at arrival was courteous but the one at exit was cold, no hello or thank you. Nothing in the fridge, not even a bottle of water.
Very pleasant to rest... peacefully...
Sa car
There was a lack of staff, like many places and businesses. The restaurant was closed so dinner and lunch were outside.
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! We stayed there with a group twice!!! Upon check-out the last time there was a charge of 569$ taken on a credit card and no bill or explanation was sent! After multiple attempts to contact the hotel NO ONE has answered us via PHONE OR EMAIL. NOW spending multiple hours on phone with bank to try to reverse the charge!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
Very clean and modern hotel just on the outskirts of Val Dor. It was quiet and the amenities were perfectly fine. Bed was clean and very comfortable. Hotel restaurant was good too.
Grossly overpriced. A mining town that apparently relies on expense accounts
Second time I stay at this hotel and I absolutely love it. Only got four stars though because one big bonus at this place is the charger in the parking lot but for the past week it hasn t worked and no attempt is being made to repair it. At least there was another one on site (albeit so well hidden some employees didn t know about it ). Would definitely stay here again.
Solid hotel. Clean, good internet, and well-maintained. Great service in English too. A bit more pricey compared to the other options in town, but leagues ahead in quality comparatively. ($250ish/night vs $200/night at other hotels in town). However, its location is not great for finding things nearby. I enjoyed my stay.
Hotel Forestel is the only hotel I stay at in Val D Or. Good quiet rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and the friendliest front desk service. A huge THANK YOU to Audrey who helped me find my laptop and ship it to me in Montreal. I am so grateful for all her help! Thanks again! :)
Very nice location just at the entrance of Val dOr. Easy accessibility. Fast check-in and received all the information needed for our stay. As we were leaving very early on our last day, lunchbox for breakfast were proposed to us as the restaurant was closed. Very appreciated. Would recommend.
There is much better for the price!!!! Suite 1 night $235, No coffee machine (before 7am)... practically no TV sets, No breakfast included, no microwave in the rooms, very noisy air conditioning at least its clean.. . You can find a lottt better for cheaper in town. A suite for 1 night 235$, no coffee before 7am, almost no tv channels, no microwave in rooms, really noisy AC, at least its clean...
I was extremely disgusted- dirty used bandage on bathroom floor, private part hair on sheets in bed. Found DRUGS in the ice bucket when went to use!! It obviously wasn t checked or cleaned after the people who had the room before us. Room service food was good though, that s why I gave it one star.
Very good lunch!!
2 night stay. Warm to cold shower every 2 days. A little unacceptable for a 4 star. Were not in Cuba after all.
Beautiful suite
Great hotel with above average amenities. Little over budget based on the geography. And the pet deposit was unappreciated based on the number of pets. Also thats unnecessary. Based on how much cleaning is done at checkout of each guest.
Rooms: Prises de recharges USB non-fonctionnelles, lumières inopérantes, sinon propre et confortable Rooms
Friendly staff. Food and drinks: Be sure to try the spaghetti. Rooms : 4/5 |
A little outside of town, but the town is small, so no big deal there. The hotel is comparable to their competitors in Val-dOr and typically has better availability.
Arrived Sunday late afternoon and no restaurant (lack of staff) but in the evening the bar is open and no cleaning or even coffee for the second day I had to go get some myself
A nice hotel for the upper middle class.
My room wasnt maintained for both days.
Very clean. But very cold in the rooms windows full of water freezing. Very shiny. In addition no restaurants or dining room nothing no lunch.
It s now that it costs more for 2 nights at Forestel than for a week all inclusive in Cuba!!!! Im going to wish you a happy, well-deserved bankruptcy!!!
Still a good price for the quality of the rooms.
Relatively good hotel for the region. You should update your website. Restaurant hours and menus are not up to date
