Good service , tasty food and loved my passion fruit drink , I told them I had shrimp allergy and they were super supportive Making sure nothing happens! A bit busy on the weekend , we couldn’t make reservations sat for 15 mins gave us a table Place is a vibe even for friends or colleagues to hang out , I recommend that And their pizza is tasty Beef tarter was tasty as well
Excellent! We did the chefs table - fun! The food was spectacular and the service was both friendly and prompt. I would certainly return. Ps: order the buttermilk fried chicken 😁
I liked the vibe but there were so many things that I didn't like about this place. Some servers had attitude, the menu was set and we couldn't make "any" adjustments like removing or adding anything to our food. The food was average. I ordered mushroom pesto pizza and it was tasteless, while the salami pizza was so salty... but i loved their fries and buttermilk fried chicken was okay too. Overall, I think the only thing that I really liked was the interior... wouldn't visit again.
This was my second time here but my friends' first and we were not disappointed. The only downside was they had somewhere to be after dinner and we did not leave enough time for dessert! Because of the serving style of the restaurant, be prepared to be there for some time, we were there almost 2 hours. That being said, you will get incredible food during the time spent here, so time well spent! We had the tuna, beet salad, prawns, mussels, roasted mushroom pizza, delicata squash, pork belly and clam spaghetti. Everything was delicious and we left stuffed. Even their mocktails were tasty, the passionfruit palmer and cranberry ginger drinks were enjoyed! Every single item was cooked perfectly the sauces were delicious, we had no notes for any of it. Only disappointment was we didn't plan enough time for dessert, which means we'll have to return!
Had a nice date night upstairs next to the kitchen area where we could see the dishes being created. The food was spectacular and the atmosphere was pleasant. We recommend the beet salad which was probably our favorite dish. Their beef tartare and short rib special were also very tasty. Staff were very friendly and informative.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere with beautiful, open, and spacious décor, making it feel comfortable and not cramped. The food is delicious with a refreshing Asian influence that keeps it from being too heavy. The steak is well-prepared to standard. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to try the pizza yet. As for the service, it is excellent, with good recommendations and fast, high-quality service.
The food here was incredible. Each dish stood out in its own way and had complex flavour profiles which we appreciated. We had the beet salad, buttermilk chicken, cauliflower hummus, rigatoni, and salted caramel pot for dessert. All of the staff members we encountered were kind. Our server was especially attentive and knowledgeable! Highly recommend!
Great dinner experience. Casual but classy ambience. Excellent service with some great recommendations and nice pacing between meals. We shared the beet salad, cauliflower, fried chicken and pork belly. All very good. Cauliflower was the stand out, tender and nicely seasoned with the addition of the turmeric vinegar. Chicken was excellent, the maple sauce didn’t overpower the flavor of the chicken. Normally not a fan of beetroot salads but this was excellent and a light way to start the meal. Highly recommended.
I used to love this place but it shouldn t charge GST but they charged it yesterday! I saw that receipt at home! Why! Just disappointed!
Came here last night for a dinner with my daughter who is visiting from London, UK and it s my new fav place!! Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere but what stood out the most was the awesome service from Colwyn. His suggestions for food and drinks was spot on! Try the Brussels sprouts - WOW!! Thanks for a memorable meal!
Best restaurant in Vancouver hands down. Service is always 10/10, Francis treated us so well. The food is unreal and so flavourful. I recommend everyone to go here.
The best chicken garage and sweet potato.
The kind of places you know you are going to love a minute after you get in. The staff is very kind, the place looks amazing and all the dishes were wonderful.
Food was great as usual and the atmosphere was perfect for a work Christmas lunch
Good atmosphere, great service. Food menu was fairly niche and the actual order we got was subpar in flavor and quality, especially for the price. Overall a good experience but I don t think I ll go back. On the plus side, they are open later than some other competitors around.
food i ordered was overly salted...spaghetti noodles tastes too much salt..there was no impression of the pizza but roasted vege was a bit relief.
Really cool spot great food excellent service. Japanese yams were amazing.
Loved sitting in front of the kitchen. The carpaccio crudo was just ok, absolutely doused in chili oil. The butternut squash pasta was perfect and delicious.
Went there for lunch right as they opened for 1130 on a Monday. Its got everything you expect from an upscale place - elegantly decorated, soft lighting, coat check, and an interesting floor plan that combines an open pizza oven and upstairs dining area overlooking the main floor, with a mix of comfortable couches and seats. We got two sides, a Gouda beet salad, where the Gouda was whipped with a consistency unlike the cheese foam that you on top of boba but savory. It went well with the semisweet and tart beets, and little crunchy seeds that offered a contrasting texture. The other roasted prawn was heavy on the flavor in a good way, cooked to a very plump and snappy texture. Would ve been great with rice, but we saved the sauce from that dish to dip with the two pizzas we got. We got the classic margherita and the honey chorizo. Both of them featured super chewy, perfectly baked crusts. The toppings were a bit one dimensional in my opinion - the chorizo a bit salty overpowering the subtle honey flavor, and the cheese on the margherita covered the tomato flavor. The raw basil on the margherita added a nice herby bite. Overall very good meal! For the three of us, my mom, me, and my girlfriend, this was plenty, but if I came with my guy friends maybe an extra dish or two would have been better.
The Atmosphere and Food is excellent... But i think the server should know how BIG the servings are to recommend FAMILY SHARING???? For example: an order of lasagna or spaghetti with manila clams??? For 7 people??? Please do suggest and this will add to your sales as well.... And the serving of food comes in one at a time? waiting for 5-10mins for another main dish to arrive??? Not a good SERVICE but the food is good. atleast...
Damn! Great food! Great vibe! Great service!
So good we came back 2 nights in a row!! Few actors knocking about multiple times a week shows their quality! + great vegan options!
I have been reccomend this place many times and I finally found myself here and I definitely get the hype. We were a group of 5 so we were able to try a bunch of different items. We each had a different cocktail and they were all delicious. Our server Sean was very knowlegable and helpful in guiding us through the menu and making great suggestions taking into account our allergies and preferences . We loved how it was reccomended to share everything, some of the stand outs foodwise were the buttermilk fried chicken, the beef tar tar and the homemade pasta noodles. The pizza was also delish I would.love to come back and try more of the pizza varieties. I understand why this place is so highly recommended and I will definitely be recommending this to anyone who hasnt tried it yet.
Loved the chefs table, super cool experience. The food was great but I honestly have to rave about the cocktails, some of the best Ive had in vancouver.
Nightingale has a fantastic atmosphere and excellent service the staff are attentive and welcoming. The food was just okay, not as impressive as I expected. Parking can also be a bit tricky, so plan ahead if youre driving. Overall, it s a nice place to enjoy an evening, especially for the ambiance and service.
Disappointing. Came in here for a birthday meal with high expectations, left seriously underwhelmed. One cocktail was great, and the service was lovely, everything else was poor. Veal tongue au poivre: The veal tongue had a good cook on it, but the sauce left a lot to be desired. One expects au poivre to be a rich sauce, but this had no body at all - certainly no cream in there. Mushrooms on toast: Worst dish of the evening. Cold, lifeless, underseasoned. The toast was barely toasted and felt a bit stale, the dungeness crab barely made an impression, the mushrooms had nothing to them. Crossover sour: The drink wasnt strained properly, it had ice chips in it. The wine was overpowering. Umami #5: Lovely, well-balanced cocktail. I decided it best not to go for mains based off everything I had tried. I left hungry and deeply disappointed. Expected so much more from a Hawksworth sister restaurant. Bummer.
All of the food is simple but perfect. The service is awesome. I recommend you make a reservation for a regular seat. Chefs kitchen seat is kind of small for two people.
Came in with extremely high expectations due to online and offline hype by both family friends and food influencers, etc. Ordered the much raved about Fried Chicken with pickles and sumac, Roasted Cauliflower, La Mortazza, Mortadella, whipped ricotta and candied pistachio pizza (basically a calzone), and Roasted Mushroom with Pesto pizza. The chicken was tasty but quite simple. I did not enjoy the sauce which was served with the cauliflower. The candied pistachios and lemon zest did not fit the other La Mortazza fillings (in fact it made it very unpleasant to eat), and I just found the mushroom pizza flat and boring. The server assigned to us was very plastic when taking our order and giving us our dishes; her tiny smile clearly did not reach her eyes. However, the hostess who greeted us was very friendly (as were some of the other servers working there but not assigned to our table). I feel extremely underwhelmed by the taste (not quality) of the food, overall service, and ambience of Nightingale. It did not live up to the hype I ve been witnessing over the past many years. Still, I respect that they support farm to table dining and work with local farmers and producers. Might give it another chance after 2-3 years.
Ushi >>>> thank you for making mum s night so special. you were so attentive to our allergies and her need for a less drafty corner. truly made it a night to remember. thank you for everything!
First time here since I heard positive things about Nightingale at work. Happy that I finally got to enjoy the various menu that they offer. Everything we ordered was delicious (except for the savoy cabbage) - service was excellent. We will definitely be back again.
This restaurant is Michelin guide so basically is supposed to have a very good service in general. Our waitress was not familiar with the drink menu at all. I asked for a sweet cocktail and she was pointing at a sour one and when I asked her if she can check with the bar tender, she refused and said she will give me more time and come back as she was in rush and i said having more time won t solve my problem and out of frustration I picked one randomly. The second problem was timing of serving food . They brought one of the three appetizers first and a few min after they brought the other two. I wasn t too concerned as I and my wife and children were going to share the starters but when it came to the main I and my children got our food first and in about 15 min when we were all done with our food , my wife got her food which was Lasagna and not even supposed to take that long. I immediately called our server and complained that this timing is not acceptable and the food should not be served that far apart and she said in our restaurant we serve like this and when the food is ready we bring it in and don t wait for bringing them all together. I found this experience not really up to our expectations and I ended up leaving 15% tip which I haven t paid that low for good last few years.
#ContestEntry I love this place! The buttermilk fried chicken is to die for!!!! Good place to spend a special occasion!
Perfect thank you
#ContestEntry The food here is amazing! I took my girlfriend for our anniversary and she loved the buttermilk fried chicken! Would recommend!
Love the sharing style of eating and the pot de creme is increible!
This restaurant has a great atmosphere and amazing food. Specifically their pizzas are a stand out! #contestentry
5/5
Creative dishes with a unique twist. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for something a little different.
We had a wonderful group meal. This is probably one of the best places I have been for a group dinner. It was a set menu that we got to pick from. And there was plenty of food. Everything was tasty. The chicken was great. The meatballs were my favourite. I would highly recommend this place. And we will be back. Very reasonable price for the group menu. Vegetarian options: Good veggie options. Dietary restrictions: The meals are as is. They won t alter them.
Had an excellent dinner with friends. Had a few food items and shared with the table. Staff were friendly and helpful always coming by and checking on you. I would come back again!
This place absolutely lives up to the hype. Great food and atmosphere. I love this spot for birthdays, anniversaries or spontaneous dinners. It never disappoints.
One of the best meals weve had in a long time! Great atmosphere, bumping place, and very friendly and engaging wait staff. The food was all good - but that buttermilk crispy chicken is over the top.
good, though we encountered a few drawbacks. Firstly, one of our guests has a mushroom allergy, and we were informed that the kitchen couldn t accommodate modifications to any of the dishes. We decided to order the steak with truffle anyway for the other guests to enjoy. When it arrived, it came with shaved truffle on top but no truffle mixed in a simple element they could have easily omitted, allowing everyone at our table to enjoy it safely. It s just a weird thing to deny modifying for a customer. The broccolini was underwhelming, and the seating left something to be desired. The chairs felt uncomfortable, reminiscent of a cafeteria setup, which didn t quite match the ambiance we expected. On a positive note, the squash, spaghetti, and fish dishes were flavorful, and our server was friendly and attentive. Overall, while the experience didn t live up to the hype, it wasn t a bad meal either just a bit of a mixed bag.
Found the food to be not bad but the service was a bit snotty. Asked for a wine under 3-figures for a casual Sunday lunch and it was like I swore. Very pretentious experience. Server kept disappearing so had to pour our $100 bottle of wine myself. Ordered the beef and it was okay, a bit too chewy for my taste. Overall expensive and just okay.
Great place for group dining. Make sure you get the buttermilk fried chicken! #contestentry
Fantastic, fresh family style. Perfect for a night out with the girls!
Delicious food, enjoyed the family style eating arrangement. Our server was great, super polite and attentive and knew the menu extremely well. Highly recommend a visit.
The attitude from the kitchen is bigger than anything Ive seen. I simply asked for the chives to be removed from my selected item due to an allergy. I was told that their no substitution policy prevented them from making any changes. Any chef or even line cook could surely just eliminate a simple ingredient. I wasnt asking them to stop the line and take some flour and sugar to bake me a cake.
Great restaurant for a special occasion or group event. The food is always delicious and the service is great. #ContestEntry
Terrible cuisine! Everything is oversalted. I regret not going to the Ikea cafe, the food there is much tastier. The choice of beer is such that it felt like we were living during the Great Beer Depression. The music turns the brain into a liquid substance flowing out of the ears... The service leaves much to be desired... A disgraceful place.
Overall feeling - underwhelmed. We ordered the maple chicken, focaccia, lasagne and lobster linguini. All of which had some nice qualities but were not worth the price. The chicken was the best part for sure, however I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the lasagne. We did enjoy the ambience of the place and thought that the chefs table option was a nice experience.
Happy hour was decent overall, but the food fell short despite being Michelin-recommended. The butter chicken was the standout dish on the menu. However, I wouldn t recommend the steak it was overpriced and lacked any garnish. The service was underwhelming, leaning more toward a casual style that didn t match the hype.
Simple menu yet complex enough to make it a great experience.
Always impressed never disappointed
The pasta is delicious, and so is the freshly baked pizza.
Casual but classy dining and drinks in a great atmosphere. Good for special occasions or just a nice night out! The food is delicious and best for share plates. And dont skip on dessert! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Had amazing time at Nightingale in Vancouver! The atmosphere is perfect stylish and cozy. The staff are super friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. And the pizza? Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend for a great night out!
We had a fantastic time here. When we came in without a reservation and the hosts told us it would be an hour wait, my wife looked at me to confirm I was okay with the wait. In doing so, she briefly locked eyes with someone else waiting who vigorously nodded his head as if to say the wait was worth it. Having just left, I can now confirm; the wait was definitely worth it. We got the mixed green salad, the braised meatballs, and a pepperoni pizza. Every dish was excellent. The dressing on the salad was perfect, the meatballs were amazing, and the crust with the red onion and pepperoni on the pizza was fantastic. I only wish we had enough room for Dessert. Im going to tell all of our friends and family that if they ever are visiting Vancouver, they should go to this restaurant!
I went there with my friends. We ordered spaghetti pizza, buttermilk chicken and some drinks. Buttermilk chicken was so good. 100% recommended but however pizza was very salty and portion of spaghetti was small could be better.
Great dinner experience. The atmosphere and the service were good. Every dish was on point with my fave being the cauliflower hummus and home made sourdough.. simple but tasty. I would definitely come back again. Food
The server was prompt and friendly, explaining for our first visit here how it works and he made specific recommendations. We ordered what was suggested and everything was amazing! The tastes were unique and the ingredients so well curated that the flavors were completely unexpected and delicious! Id suggest not overthinking the individual ingredients if you think you dont care for one of them - these are so well combined and prepared that you might find something new you never expected to be so yummy! The ceviche, the half chicken, and especially the [vegan] rum baba, all were delicious!
Amazing service! Beautiful table by the window. We had a group of 8 and had the group menu. Would go again.
Food was great and service was perfect. Be aware. Its family style and no modifications/substitution.
Nightingale s is a great place to go for a nice meal. Excellent food, and well presented. The small plates format is great as it allows you to eat as you wish without being over-stuffed or still hungry. The pizza in particular is excellent. Truly Neapolitan style. The venue is casual but stylish. It is busy so there is noise and a bustling vibe, but not too loud to converse and enjoy yourself. The wine and spirits list is comprehensive and on the whole well thought out with a nice range of wine styles to choose from. My only beef is for a restaurant that prides itself on locally sourcing their food, my guess is that about 10% of the wine list is from British Columbia. With the maturation and diversity of the wine industry in BC this is not right.
The staff are really friendly and the food is delicious. Please note that pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven, so it takes a while.
Sat at the bar. Service was very engaging and efficient at the same time. Atmosphere is great and the decor is stylish.
Was just there celebrating an engagement proposal with my fiancè and it was a terrible and unwelcoming experience which started with the host being very rude to us. The service by all the staff was non existent. I had informed the restaurant before hand that I was going to be there celebrating getting engaged with my now fiancè and they did nothing to enhance or make the dinner special. When we asked for extra side plates the waitress servicing the food did not reply at all and simply walked away, leaving us to wonder if she had heard us or not. Food was decent but will not be returning.
Food was fantastic. Waiter was fantastic. Ambience is good. Hostess was terrible unfortunately. Been here many times walked in this afternoon and was told I couldn t get a table till 9pm while the restaurant was half empty lol at 3 in the afternoon. Ridiculous. After some pushback from me another staff came by and figured out a table for us (thank you). We sat and ate for 2 hours and during this whole time the restaurant was at max 60% capacity with many empty tables that could ve accommodated the size of our party throughout our window of dining. 3-5pm. The hostess should be more customer service focused and I m guessing if she is dismissive of Walk-ins and non accommodative as she was with us I m sure this restaurant loses thousands in revenue on a monthly basis. Too bad as the restaurant is fantastic outside of this and we hope to see if successful for years to come. Just hope the hostess is provided with some pointers on customer service and ensure she accommodates folks that walk in for a table when it s perfectly clear the restaurant has the ability to do so and was able to do so for us.
Went here on a date night out downtown with my fiancée. We had issues finding reservations, but when the restaurant got back to us they managed to fit us in at exactly our desired time on a Saturday night! The restaurant has a heritage looking exterior and the interior is amazing as well. You enter the building and are greeted with high ceilings on the lower level, a classy bar in the corner, and clearly skilled mixologists working away on a variety of excellent cocktails. The service was impeccable and as I had not been before everything about the menu was clearly communicated and made for a very enjoyable meal. We ordered 4 different dishes based on our server s recommendation that the menu is meant for sharing and we were more than satisfied with the 4 plates we received. First off was the Endive salad with blue cheese and I believe they were candied walnuts. This was probably the highlight of the night for me! The blue cheese was perfect with the dressing and not overpowering at all. Second was the fried chicken which we had both read about prior and it did not disappoint, I would highly recommend ordering this if it is your first visit! Third we had a newer dish from the menu, which was a dungeoness crav toasted with crème fraiche and watercress on top. This was the dish I was most excited for but unfortunately it wasn t my favourite. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, there was plenty of Dungeness crab on the toast and the mix with the crème fraiche and watercress was nice I just felt it couldve had more seasoning? Nonetheless, still a fantastic dis! Lastly was probably my least favourite dish of the night and it was a delicata squash dish I believe with chimichurri and crème fraiche as well. This dish just didn t work for me. I don t know if I was expecting the squash to be sweeter or if the chimichurri just didn t work for me, but we still ate more than half the plate between the two of us. Finally, for cocktails I had this delicious fruit punch style drink called the Lavender Haze, had two just for good measure. My fiancée ordered a half bottle of one of their wines and she was very impressed and there was also a sommelier on site to pour! I will definitely go back to this place as the other tables pizza and pasta dishes also looked outstanding. Thanks for a great night!
Excellent service, slightly above average food, beautifully plated. Expected the food to taste slightly better given price and portion. Some dishes were very good while others were too salty or acidic. Ingredients used did taste fresh and high quality. Overall 4 stars and would return to try again.
Great pizza! Definitely returning here to try out more of the extensive menu next time Im in Vancouver.
Food and service was great to be expected. Sound proofing is needed as it was difficult to understand the group. Im 39 with good hearing too. Food : 5/5
Very good! Enjoyed the pizzas and of course the chicken & pickles. Good happy hour
Definitely one of my favourite spot to go for a date night. The food is unique and tasty. The service is always on point and if you manage to get a spot on top floor by the railing, you get a big view of the whole place. definitely recommend if you want a cool experience
Service was amazing. Food was really delicious, but felt that some of the flavours lacked a little on our experience.
Food is delightful. Beet salad was absolutely delectable.
Staff was incredibly accommodating, food was delicious (ceviche and fries are top tier), and the vibes were immaculate. A fantastic evening.
This restaurant is a shining star in Vancouvers food scene. The food is executed so well during every visit, the staff are wonderful and the interior is beautiful. The menu has so much variety and continues to evolve making each trip back a new adventure. Take a date here, celebrate a special occassion, bring out of town visitors... you cant go wrong! Shoutout to the wonderful minds behind this lovely restaurant, theyve created something very special. Looking forward to my next visit!
Saw a mouse running around the restaurant today told the waiter but they seemed unconcerned. I don t want to go here again.
Was great but a little pricy!
Family style dinning and really good food. Get the fried chicken. Try out a number of different dishes and share.
Great atmosphere and some of the best pizza you will find in Vancouver #ContestEntry
We had very high expectations. Service was lovely, but 2 dishes out of four were just okay especially the pork belly is slightly uncooked and we both had stomach problems. Also the homemade icecream was almost bad for their brand and standard . Definitely going back when we visit Vancouver for their other signature dishes ! Price is also very reasonable.
10/10 across the board bruschetta was the best thing I ve ever had in my life it was like the scene where the guy eats Ratatouille for the first time and his entire life flashes before his eyes
Food was good! The ceviche was stellar. Love the ambience, lighting is not too bright nor too dim, service was excellent :) will come back
Very beautiful interior, but the service was a tad pretentious. We only ordered pizza, so I can t speak to the totality of the menu, but the za was great.
This is a small plates kind of place where you share the dishes. Our waiter recommended 4 dishes for 2 people. We got the focaccia ($9), eggplants ($16), veal tongue ($24), and branzino ($46). My favorites were the focaccia and branzino. The focaccia was warm, and it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was a little on the salty side though. The branzino was super tender, but the chimichurri sauce was a little too spicy for me. The eggplants were solid, but nothing too outstanding. The veal tongue was tender, but I personally was turned off by the texture. This spot is pricey, but a nice ambiance for a special occasion.
Love this place. Everything on the menu is great. Fried chicken and arctic char stand out. Also great pizza. Tasty cocktails. Try the Sangre Margarita. Really attentive service. A must if you are in Vancouver.
Amazing experience, bustling and vibrant. Location was also great.
Now this is how great food should taste, why did it take us days to land here The ceviche with plantain chips sported fewer ingredients than usual and was excellent. This is not your gramma s fried chicken - the cinnamon sugar and sultanas blew our minds. Outstanding turmeric grilled cauliflower. Whao. The fried Japanese sweet potatoes with pickled shallots were out of this world. Really. Recommend the Ricotta basel rigatoni, tho prolly less unique than some of the others here. Even the pepperoni pizza came through with flying colors. Well done guys.
I had a wonderful dinner at Nightingale! First our server Mohammed was incredible!! He was so kind and provided amazing menu recommendations. He checked on our table frequently and overall provided a great dining experience. Now for the restaurant and food. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has great decor and is clean and inviting. The food was also amazing! Mohammed recommended we try a family style, with multiple dishes to share, which is my preferred style. Our table ordered the following: -Kanpachi crudo: highly recommend -Endive salad: very good -Brussels sprouts: highly recommend -Grilled broccolini: very good -Roasted eggplant: good -Roasted mushroom: highly recommend -Rigatoni allarrabbiata: highly recommend -Pot de crème: must try! (Very sweet) -Carrot cake: soooo good, recommend! Overall, it was a wonderful dinner. I will definitely be back!
The oven fired pizza was really good. However there were hardly any toppings or cheese on my pineapple guanciale which was disappointing . Luckily the crust and sauce was delicious. The Beet salad is phenomenal! Ill dream of that forever. The lasagna was served rather cold and was also pretty bland! Still tasty though.
Wow, what a great place. Everything from the interior, the vibe and music to the service was impeccable. And the food was perfect - we particularly enjoyed the buttermilk chicken and Japanese sweet potatoes. Least favourite was probably the bruschetta as it had lots of garlic , but that s a matter of personal taste. The beet salad was also good, as was the ice cream sandwich dessert. Also felt it was adequately priced. Would 100% return
I ordered the maple chicken, it was the best chicken I ever had, the margarita pizza was the best pizza I ever had, and the noodles were the best noodles I have ever had not even close. The dessert was the best dessert I ever had.
An incredible dinner experience! Food was excellent and the service and staff was phenomenal, the perfect place for celebrating a birthday or other special occasion. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and meatballs.
Celebrated my anniversary here and it was just as good as when I was last there. Every dish was on point with my fav being the beet salad and buttermilk chicken simple but tasty. Nightingale never disappoints. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Only 4 stars as I felt after 3 cocktails in it had little effect on me. Kind of felt like I was paying a premium for juice instead of alcohol. Not what I was expecting as I ve been here before with a different experience.
The food is served family style and was perfectly cooked. We sat in the chef table so we saw the impeccable attention to detail and quality. Staff engaged us in conversation to ensure our experience was top of mind. 100% will go back.
We had the chickpeas salad, the Brussels sprouts and the pesto pizza. We personally wouldn t recommendation the pizza because of the garlic, too strong. The rest was excellent Food
Brilliant dinner and atmosphere. Amazing
Waitress and bussers were impatient and condescending to us. This is a shame because the kitchen staff is very talented. We got the big steak to share! perfect medium all the way. A very good steak. The looks of the waiting staff is probably the number one criteria to work at this type of restaurant, but hiring people based on looks alone leads to poor customer service.
Not being from here I went to a few happy hours and Nightingales is the best. Excellent price point for its cocktails from a restaurant of this calibre and there r a few food items that I can eat everyday - Buttermilk fried chicken and cauliflower hummus Food
So disappointed. Visiting Vancouver (former residents) and came back to Nightingale which was always one of our favorites. Place is basically empty. My partner is allergic to raw parsley. We asked them to remove the *garnish* from the dish and they outright refused. Absolutely pretentious nonsense.
My husband and I were visiting for the weekend from Portland, OR. We sat at the bar and Nick the bartender made us feel welcomed and made delicious cocktails! The food from the happy hour menu was delicious. I would absolutely recommend!
We are many meals on our Rockies tour and this was the most delicious and flavorful meal BY FAR. Great tasty combinations and impeccable service
Just had the best meal I have yet had in Canada. Delicious food, wonderful service and such a nice place to eat. Vegetarian options: Abounds with vegetarian options. Wonderful Margarita pizza with a side of roasted Brussel sprouts. Yum.
Literally outstanding!
Happy hour is excellent time to hit this place
Vegetarian options: They do have vegetarian options Food
Portions were incredibly small for the price, food can only be described as mediocre at best. Additionally, I believe we were told there would be cheese on the pasta? Yet I saw no Cheese on either portion. I would not come here again, especially not for the upwards of 100CAD I paid for it.
Incredible physical space. Love the entire restaurant vibe- w exception of music. A touch too loud for us to chat. Table of 6 in rectangle, hard to hear everyone. Vegetarian options: Lots of great veggie options. Not all are vegan though.
Absolutely killer good food and service. The place is gorgeous and the atmosphere is lively. Music a tad loud, but hey, nothing is perfect. 200 CDN got us a shared appetizer, large mains, dessert, wine, plus tip, for two people. Real value for your restaurant dollar. Oh, and did I say we had fun too???
Weve just returned from a week-long vacation to Vancouver and Victoria and hands down, our dinner at the Nightingale was a high point. Interesting, upscale vibe. The food is truly amazing, not fussy or interpretive - but still inventive and flavorful. I had the crudo which was so good you can call it dessert. Fluffy, soft fish served in a slightly sweet cold broth. We shared the lasagna which was also incredibly good. The pasta was so tender it could have been crepes. My husband devoured the apple salad. I would go back to Vancouver just so we can have dinner there again!
This is our go-to place for any celebration and when we just want to ensure a good time and amazing food! If you are sensitive to loud noises they place their music at a comfortable volume and there are plenty of booths in corners upstairs or downstairs where you are semi-shielded from the music/crowd noise. A great choice for a business lunch too. Kid-friendliness: They have a great kids menu and provide crayons with games at the back of the menu. My kid orders from there AND shares what we order she loves everything on their menu!
Did not meet our expectations at all. I was hoping for a fine dining experience but ended up leaving the restaurant in less than an hour From dishes to wine selection, customer service to plates, and glasses; it was unbelievably bad. Would not recommend to anyone.
Absolutely loved my experience here. Im vegan and they had lots of options for me.One person in our party had a peanut allergy and the other was allergic to seeds. Our server got us a menu marked with everything that had any of these allergens in it. It was really appreciated as we could easily pick things without asking anyone. For vegan options, I ordered brussel sprouts, beet salad (my husband ate the feta), cauliflower hummus, olives and vegan pizza. Everything was excellent with great flavours. We also ordered the meatballs, Margarita pizza and focaccia bread which everyone loved. The vegan dessert was great too. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegan options
One of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver
Menu sounded better than it was. Good food, but was expecting more.
This is a Vancouver classic. If anyone is ever visiting for the first time, Nightingale is always one of the first places I ll take them. The food is so unique and tasty, and by design you order a collection of shareable dishes so you re able to try a bit of everything. Everything about this place is amazing; you can t really go wrong with any food options.
Despite a possible doubt ..I followed my son s advice . I confirm it is excellent
We went for dinner to celebrate my husband s birthday but we had an unpleasant experience. We made a reservation at 8:30 pm as we went a bit early at 8 pm so we asked if we could have a drink while we were waiting. We understand the bar could be full and it was totally fine with us. We just wanted to check it out but the receptionist was rude and very unfriendly, we felt unwelcome. Later we came back for the dinner. We had halibut, tuna ceviche, pizza and bottle of wine . The food was average, the environment was nice but the service was bas. Definitely not worthy, overrated and will not come back.
Great place for cocktails. Large variety of spirits to choose from and their deserts are well made. Service is also excellent. Highly recommended.
Went for dinner and had a great time. Food and atmosphere were top notch. Baked japanese sweet potato was amazing.
Went here for my birthday with a group of 7 and it was one of the best dining experiences we ve all had in a long time! Colwyn was our server and was amazing, so attentive & helpful, and the food was delicious (our favourite was the spaghetti with clams - so so food). Will be back for sure!
What an incredible find - Hawksworth used to be our favourite restaurant in Vancouver but this lower key sibling is quite simply fantastic. Take a table outside and be prepared to be a amazed by the complexity and subtle of the flavours
Food was generally delicious. The rigatoni and endive salad was superb. The strawberry dessert was a miss, however. The whipped white chocolate quenelle had a terrible waxy mouthfeel. Reminds me of a low quality chocolate bar that coats the back of the throat with wax.
Brussel sprouts were okay and the fried chicken was amazing. Ravioli and bruschetta was good as well but nothing spectacular.
Great time, and the staff were all really nice and professional.
First time experience made me want to come back. The delayed serving of dishes instead of all at once because of the tapas-style menu was not expected but the quality of food was excellent.
Stopped by today as it s been awhile since we ve been. Have eaten here for years and always enjoyed their pizzas. Absolutely shocked that we couldn t have our favourite pepperoni pizza without the onions (as we are both sensitive to onions). Server told us the chef wouldn t allow us to forgo them. Since when are pizza toppings not allowed to be left off a pizza? Seriously?? We didn t ask for substitutions, just no onions. Well we were craving pizza so after having a quick drink, we left. Won t be returning. Ridiculous. Enjoyed an onion-free pizza at another restaurant that were happy to have our business on an extremely quiet holiday Monday.
Best place in Vancouver
great Italian influence in this well-kept place with a high-level counter for the bar, a beautiful wood-fired oven and a well-studied menu with a nice mix of dishes. Excellent service.
Top notch spot with good food and service. High marks for wine list and available vegetarian friendly options. Pretty good steak and Italian meatballs, though both found have used more flavor. The best thing we tasted was the clam pasta with white wine sauce. Amazing flavor and perfectly cooked pasta. Dessert was a bit blah, with my really boring carrot cake and my partners yummy pot de crem.
Service was sub-par (they left my visibly dirty table dirty the whole evening without wiping it clean, for example), waiters were dressed very casually for an expensive restaurant, food was hit (the sweet potato dish and the caramel creme dessert) and miss (the halibut and the eggplant dishes). I am also upset that when I went to use my gift card, I found out it expired! I didn t think gift cards were legally allowed to expire in Canada. I just bought it in December and apparently it expired just 4 months later plus it didn t mention any expiry in the email it came with, only found out after I clicked the redeem now button in the restaurant. That was very disappointing.
If you like mediocre Italian food with LOUD thump, thump, thump, thump music, this is the place for you. NO modifications to the menu are allowed, so if you would like mushrooms on your pizza, forget about it. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great place to grab drink and an appetizer!
Beautiful decor, average quality of food, our server is very friendly but the service is slow.
Very disappointing experience! It was our second time at Nightingale, we were so excited to bring my husband to share in what we thought would once again be a great experience . Service was good ,food was average. We ordered the japanese sweet potato which was great, brussel sprouts were good and the arribiata pasta which was excellent from there the food was not good at all! Meatballs tasted like they came from an average meatball shop, and the sirloin steak was tasteless and difficult to chew and digest. We also asked if we could have it a little more well done and were told its not possible. While I appreciate the integrity and creativity of the chefs surely the customer can be accommodated or told to rather choose another option at $51 ! Being such a high end restaurant would have expected this ...when we were presented the check I told the waitress that we were disappointed in the steak her responce was thank you for letting me know...was not expecting that responce !!! Anyway will not be going back which is unfortunate.
Absolutely amazing food, location and staff. Love the variety of drinks including non-alcoholic. I have never had a bad meal or experience here.
All of the plates we ordered were delicious and we really enjoyed the food. However, the main downside of our experience was that we were sat next to a center station for the staff that just became a staff hangout. Our meal was mostly us listening to the staff gossiping instead of enjoying the beautiful interior of the building.
Aside from my own personal preferences on seasoning Nightingale nearly hit the spot. The spaghetti was delicious and was definitely the highlight of all the things I tried. The aervice from Emily and Jocelyn was attentive and friendly; I appreciated the birthday wishes and the candle on my dessert. Highly recommend.
We had a great dining experience at Nightingale. I didn t care too much for the crudo (very salty!) but the spaghetti alle vongole and chorizo-pepperoncini-honey pizza were amazing!! Our server, Angus was attentive and friendly. This place goes on our go-to places in Vancouver.
I shared a delicious dinner with my son. We ordered 4 plates to share, the quantity suggested by our waitress. The tuna ceviche was generous and flavourful, the braised meat balls were large and juicy, the veal tongue was tender, and the oven-roasted cauliflower was exquisite. For dessert, I enjoyed a lovely carrot cake and my son savoured the strawberry shortbread with ice cream. The service was fast despite the busy time and the waitress was attentive to our needs. Despite the somewhat noisy environment, it was a great experience!
I ve always enjoyed dining at Nightingale, so a friend and I decided to have a joint birthday dinner and invite 7 of our closest friends to celebrate with us. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. Our group was given 4 menus intended for larger parties, which led to confusion when ordering and a bit of conflict. When we pointed out the mistake, the staff didn t correct it, nor did they honor the mistake, leaving us to navigate the error ourselves and order less than what we thought we would be able to. Towards the end, it took over 30 minutes to receive the bill at the end of our meal for some reason and received no updates on what was happening. No one checked-in to see if we wanted to order something while we waited. While the staff apologized several times, it felt more like an empty gesture than genuine concern since gratuity was already included for a big group. I ve had great experiences here in the past, but this visit left much to be desired, especially on a night that was meant to be celebratory.
I had higher expectations. The fried chicken was amazing. The other dishes were certainly good, but not wow. Staff is professional, but nothing more than that. Inside it s very loud and busy, so we went for an outside table. They should have mentioned that the bread they proposed was an extra cost.
Beautiful bar! Stopped by for some drinks that were delicious
This is an overrated restaurant. I read good reviews and thats why we went there. The place is nice and pleasant, but the food is tasteless and the service bad. The pizza was too salty, the meatballs were tasteless, the Brussels sprouts were too burnt. The waiter passes by the table countless times and does not turn around. It is almost necessary to raise your voice to ask for something. The dishes sound good on paper but the reality is that they dont taste good. I will not return
The atmosphere is lovely, and the service was amazing. We ordered the Margherita pizza, but unfortunately, it was far too salty for our taste.
Wow this place was amazing. Really great flavors, and great vibe!! They know what they re doing here.
Very average, overpriced and almost uneatable food , plus very inattentive and pretentious staff. I ordered the chicken and it was bloody and awful! My friend ordered the halibut and couldn t even finish it. Just bad.
The first time we came here, we had no idea that it was a Michelin star guide until we walked in. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. I recommend trying different dishes when you come here. We would have tried more but we are just 2 people. Pictures are from 2 different visits.
Got to try their happy hour!! Rigatoni allarrabbiata, whipped ricotta, basil $21 Love the pasta texture, not sure why it got some citrus flavour overall. Luckily I got no problem with it Pepperoni pizza, red onion, mozzarella, tomato $19 Pizza was good and fresh! Impressive size Bramble- tanqueray gin, lemon, blackberry $9.5 Perfect for summer time and refreshing! Red lotus - freixnet sparkling wine (alcohol-free), blood orange, lime $8
We went to this restaurant because it was on the Michelin guide and heard a lot of great things. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations. I want to start with the good. The wine and drinks were excellent - highly recommend if you are looking to grab a drink and some appetizers. Chill environment and lovely low key music to set the atmosphere. The service was disappointing. The main courses came at different times - I was surprised as I had to eventually start my meal as it had gotten cold waiting for my wife s. For the steak, they wouldn t allow any modifications on the rarity. The food was average. This is partially because I waited for my wife to receive her food to which point my salmon was cold. The desert was the most disappointing. The banana bread ice cream tasted as if it experienced freezer burn and was hard to chew. We did appreciate the server not charging us for the desert. That was very nice of her. Overall, I think we came in with high expectations for a Michelin Guide restaurant. We have been to a few of the others on the list and this wasn t as good as the others.
Delicious, creative, and great staff! Vegetarian options: Creative and delicious vegetarian selection. Dietary restrictions: They cater to any allergies and dietary restrictions. Parking: Street Parking
Great food! Service was pretty slow
Food was good, but not amazing. Drinks were not great.
One the best meals Ive had in Vancouver hands down. Great atmosphere and food was beautiful. Would go again
Excellent vibes, service and food.
Best Restaurant in Vancouver
Great experience!
Fantastic creative cocktails. Thumbs up all around.
Great happy hour experience. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bartenders. My Paperplane cocktail was well made and tasted wonderful. My wife had the crisp and dry Sanguinhal wine from Portugal and enjoyed it. For food we had the marinated olives, the beet salad, and the margherita pizza. All were delicious. The beet salad had an interesting twist a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning which complemented the sweetness of the beets perfectly. The pizza was surprisingly good with a thin crust and just the perfect combination of sauce and cheese. This much food was plenty for our appetites. Vegetarian options: Of the ten food items on the happy hour menu, only three had any meat on them. So I would call Nightingale a vegetarian s delight!
Nightingale offers a delightful blend of exquisite cuisine, warm ambiance, and impeccable service. The dishes are thoughtfully crafted with fresh ingredients, and the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Whether for a special occasion or a casual meal, Nightingale is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.
Amazing food! Service was a little delayed but other wise I m happy Good ravioli Drinks and Brussels Had an ice cream sandwich Food : 5/5 |
16 of us celebrated our friends birthday last night and everything was perfect! Every bite of food was incredibly delicious and the staff were on point all night!! Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient! Such a great experience. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food, beautiful interior and attentive service! Went for a lunch and managed to walk-in. We ordered a few items to share. Asparagus pizza was interesting but everyone loved it. Grilled eggplant had really nice flavourful toppings. Pork belly was a clear winner for me - so tender, juicy and perfect amount of fat. The sauce was amazing and super flavourful, spicy and tangy!! Clam spaghetti was al dente, flavour was light and refreshing. Staff was very accommodating to our allergy requirements and helped to mark the menu for us. Loved the high ceiling and the birdcage decoration, bar looks beautiful too.
Amazing spaghetti with clams in white wine sauce. They have two options, half and full for the dish.
first time here it became my favorite restaurant. food is delicious, everything was worth it.
What a great night out! Menu is one that is designed to be shared. The food was excellent and varied, really enjoyed the chicken with spicy maple! Be aware the plates are a little larger than is typical for this type of restaurant, come hungry! Vegetarian options: One person at the table was a vegetarian and there were many options for her that the whole table enjoyed
Great place to celebrate spouses birthday! All the menu items we ordered were delicious. Service attentive and thoughtful, never intrusive. Expensive but worthy of the special event.
Best food we tried in Vancouver! Best service and great atmosphere
Amazing! Absolutely delicious high quality food and flavours wonderful cocktails and fabulous service!
Tuna ceviche, buttermilk chicken and lobster pasta all were great compared to the more cookie cutter dishes that you may find in the downtown core. Service was excellent but the stand out was the pot de crème.
