It's good. Frankly, really good. Room is exquisite. I don't find people that go into places like this all with this self proclaimed critical Asian palate are really all that credible. In all my visits only had one dish that was mildly regrettable, but not necessarily bad. Just a dish I wouldn't order again. Otherwise everything else was really nice.

Thinking of dining at Mott 32? Best be prepared to dust off that credit card and convince your date not to order the lobster dumplings or Peking duck. Mott 32 offers a large vegetarian menu, with about 80% of the content fully vegan. I enjoyed the truffle and water chestnut dumplings and the plant-based signature smoked cod as a main. The dumplings were a big highlight, and the cod was extremely strong in flavour, I would recommend pairing with a side dish.

The place is beautiful. The pumpkin soup was only ok. But the soy sauce ice cream and the black cod were great. But it is too expensive overall. So be prepared

Went as a group of 8 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was already full by the time we arrived (6pm) so we were lucky to have booked a table. The food was delicious, especially the Peking duck and BBQ pork. However, I would expect more in terms of portion and flavor, given that the price was way above average. The servers were nice and helpful in general. We went as a group of 8 so a 21% gratuity was automatically added to the bill as per the rules of the restaurant. Our server did not tell us that extra sauce for the BBQ pork would cost $10, so we were surprised to see that on the bill. Overall it was a positive experience, but given the price and the food I'll say once is enough.

Mott 32 was quite atmospheric with their old Shanghai style interior design, playing up their posh and boujee feel. Didn't have a chance to try their duck as you will need to reserve a duck the day before dining. Their dishes were, of course, definitely on the pricey side but nonetheless tasty and flavourful. Would recommend their short rib and their signature lobster fried rice. The style is more fusion in my opinion, not quite the traditional Chinese taste.

Lovely ambience and a good overall experience. The smoked black cod and the frog legs were the standout dishes overall and definitely would recommend ordering them if you go. The Peking duck was okay overall; I expected something a bit more special for the price point and experience, but it was still good. Would consider going back in the future to try a different variety of dishes as the standouts above were wonderful.

A restaurant with great history. It is not a traditional Chinese restaurant so don't expect the same as those regular Chinese restaurants. However, if you are aiming for a formal dining in enjoying fine Chinese dishes (but relatively high price), this is the right place to go. At least I was totally impressed by the food as a Chinese myself. Peking duck was awesome. They have very nice service and good environment. A little dark though.

On the one hand, food was decent, and service was great, just the right amount of attention and conversation, however the price didnt really line up. I get that its trying to be elevated fancy Chinese and I went in expecting that, but still I think it was overpriced. Food specifics: - Im a big fan of bbq pork. This one was better than run of the mill, but far from the best Ive had (also iberico pork) - Lobster ma po tofu had good flavor but Im not convinced it was necessarily better than a normal meat one - Jellyfish dish was good, soup dumplings fine, desserts fine - Didnt get Peking duck since I was solo, maybe that was the move

Tonight was supposed to be a fun night and I booked a birthday dinner at this restaurant. I made a reservation on the website two days ago and informed the store that it was a birthday dinner. Now I think the store will be fully aware that guests may bring cakes, and today we brought 2 slices of cake as birthday cakes. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were told that outside food was not allowed and we explained that it was a birthday cake. OK, the waiter said that we will charge 5 dollars per person as service fee. OK, I can understand that. After ordering, I told 3 different waiters that I didnt have a candle and that I needed one from you. All the waiters said it was ok but didn t give us a candle. After our meal was over, I told the waiter who passed by us that we had brought a cake, but there were no candles. Please provide a candle. At this time, something speechless happened. Each waiter asked us individually whether we need to pay an extra $5 per person for eating take-out cakes in our store. I really doubt the quality of the waiters in this store. We ate at a so-called high-end restaurant in the city center. After informing the waiter that we agreed to the so-called additional service fee of 5 dollars, we repeatedly confirmed this issue. We were here to celebrate our birthday, but we were ignored by these reasonable service details that we should have received. torture. Im really not in a good mood to eat. The two of us spent a total of 300-400 dollars, but we repeatedly confirmed the service charge of 5 dollars. Do you think your 18% minimum tip cannot cover these costs? Or are our customers unable to pay the $5 service fee? Throughout the night, no waiter came to ask if I could help, and no waiter took the initiative to ask if I needed more water. After I finished my meal, I asked the waiter for tissues until we left, and no tissues were provided at the end. I can only say that this restaurant is really not recommended. Dined at Mott32 on Christmas Day Food: We pre-ordered the picking Duck in advance. Its one of the dishes we like the best, its a bit expensive for the overall customer perhaps, but its worth the experience. Service: is always on point, staff recognized us as returning guests, hosting team was hospitable, the table was great, and the overall table service was attentive. One of the new staff members, I believe a server assistant, was extremely attentive at all times . Ambience: overall this restaurant has maintained its charme and cleanness, with the exception of the washrooms, went twice and both times both stalls were missing toilet paper, or the toilet was fairly dirty. In general for a restaurant that is not open for lunch, rarely there is an excuse to not have toilet paper in stall, also considering they had quite a bit of staff. Will be back

A group of 6 of us had dinner here recently and we received very good service from the wait staff to the sous chef who carved up our Peking Duck dish. This restaurant is right beside the Paradox Hotel entrance, formerly the Trump Hotel for this who do not know the West Georgia address of the place. I will say this is one of the most expensive dim sum dishes restaurants in Vancouver. We were going to try some dishes but lets put it this way I know Maine Lobster is expensive, but $32 for a so gle piece of Maine lobster Siu Mai? We also had the smoked black cod, crispy rice with dried prawns in soup, beef and flat noodles, Stir fried broccoli with tofu, and a free range chicken dish. I would say the dinner was good with the Signature Smoked black cod being the best dish even ahead of the Peking duck. Was plenty of room at the table to sit and they had an okay selection of cocktails and wines. Nice to try for a holiday dinner.

A Christmas treat. As an Asian who s had consumed many Peking Ducks I couldn t tell that it was roasted with apple wood. You have to order 48hrs in advance. The Wok Fried Duck fried rice was a nice add on, the rice was partly crunchy. I can def smell the truffle on the Siu Mai as they opened the steamer. The rest were all standard to me. Abundant wines and Asian themed cocktails to choose from. Tried the Hanami cocktail, I did enjoy it. The highlight- Hot & Sour soup thou I don t see it in the menu anymore. Its like a fusion version with a supreme broth you find at Chinese weddings. Overall, if $$$ isn t an issue, give this elevated Chinese food place a try.

It was a beautiful experience. The restaurant decor is so interesting, I found my eyes wandering throughout our visit. The food was exquisite & beautifully presented. The service was 10/10. When i told them I have Celiac Disease, a gluten free soy sauce was placed in front of me. Food was definitely the star of the night. The table side presentations at first sound gimmicky, but when they worked, like the duck carving and the crispy rice fish soup, they definitely added new dimensions to the respective dishes. Starting with the duck, it s clearly well executed. The meat cook to perfect tenderness and juicy scales, which the skin was crispy without being fatty. Seeing the expert carving table side does allow one to fully appreciate the efforts required for this dish to come together. The hoisin sauce (table side prep here feels a bit much) hit the spot to add needed flavor punch and should be used liberally to make it fully sing. The other pleasant surprise was the crispy rice in fish soup. The server recommended it after some prodding, which in hindsight I would have thought it s a slam dunk recommendation. The fish soup has umami flavor in spades without tasting like MSG. There plenty of decent size shrimp chucks to justify the seafood label. The crispy rice sounded suspicious at first (how can rice stay crispy in soup???), but it delivered on the promise of that crispy texture element. The whole dish come together beautifully. The only reason to not give it 5 stars is the price. While being a very satisfying meal, the bill was astronomical compared to other high end Chinese restaurants. It s not to say Chinese food can t be this expensive, but compare to other restaurants at this price level, I do think more can and should be expected. Specifically the service was somewhat awkward with many different people floating in and out, yet the soups and rice were self service items (contrast that to the duck, which was perfectly fine as self service with all the complexity). There also some misses like the pan seared black cod and string beans. The duck fried rice was also borderline bland, and only saved by the 30% crispy rice mix that gave it good texture (I highly recommend adding hoisin sauce or asking for other condiments to dial up flavors). Kid-friendliness: Many kid friendly dishes

My recent visit to Mott 32, a distinguished Chinese culinary gem nestled in Vancouver, BC, was an exquisite journey into the world of gastronomic refinement. This establishment seamlessly weaves a tapestry of vibrant and zen elements into its atmosphere, creating an ambiance that is both invigorating and tranquil. The epicurean pinnacle of my evening was undeniably the spicy soup dumplings, artfully presented in a basket. Each delicate morsel was a symphony of umami, expertly balanced in both flavor and spice, elevating my palate to new heights. The smoked tofu cod, a revelation in plant-based cuisine, displayed a level of culinary prowess that left me astounded. Its exterior boasted a divine crispness, while the interior exuded flavors so rich and robust that I was rendered entirely oblivious to its vegan origins. The vegetable accompaniments, crisp and vibrant, served as a harmonious complement to the main dishes, further showcasing the kitchens dedication to freshness and flavor. In the realm of service, the staff at Mott 32 displayed a level of professionalism and attentiveness befitting of a Michelin-starred establishment. Their unwavering commitment to ensuring our dining experience transcended the ordinary was truly commendable. Mott 32 emerges as an oasis for connoisseurs seeking an unparalleled Chinese dining experience in Vancouver. Its sophisticated fusion of ambiance, culinary artistry, and impeccable service is nothing short of extraordinary, making it a coveted destination for those who appreciate the finer nuances of haute cuisine. On the plus side our server was apologetic about the wait, knowledgeable on the menu and professional. Food was good but overpriced in my opinion. Not a lot of vegetarian options (even the veggie sides all had meat in them). Atmosphere was just OK....we were seated near window and were cold the whole time. Not what you want when paying this much for a meal Overall just not great value.

we had made reservation in advance with an order of the Apple Wood duck. Prior to food ordering we were told itll take 45 mins for the duck to be ready - which is ok, understanding that the duck will need to be served right. We ordered 7 other dishes, with the appetizer (BBQ Pluma pork) came within minutes. Since then every other dish comes in 15-20 minutes apart, with the Apple Wood duck came 2nd last (yes it came way beyond the noted 45 minutes) and its associated duck fried rice 40 minutes after - the food is delicious and the server offers continual follow up, unfortunately the wait time really outwrites the food experience, despite the server offers us complimentary dessert. Sidenote: Since the Trump hotel has been closed, parking becomes an issue for this place. We had to walk around the block back in the alley and call for gate access clearance to get back into the parkade. Probably a good exercise if weather is permitting but when its freezing cold / wet out there, it puts a huge *minus* to this venue.

The food is ridiculously good!! Theres isnt one thing that weve eaten here that I wouldnt rave about. The presentation of the food/drinks, ambience/decor, and the service are totally on point! As many other reviewers have noted, the amount of time that you will wait for food and drinks will be very long. However, we knew that ahead of going there, and therefore expected it (hence still giving a 5 star rating). The menu is designed in a way that you will order multiple dishes, and based on that, they need to find a way to space out/time the dishes that take less time to prepare and get those out to tables first... just so that guests dont sit there for an hour with no food, and then get hit with back to back dishes before finishing the one prior. Timing is everything and definitely contributes to the overall dining experience - so that would be my only critique. But then again, the food is just SO good that its still worth the wait.

Dining was an exquisite experience. Service was superb, with an attentive and supportive staff that avoided obsequiousness. Most important, the food, all served family style, was extraordinary. Every fish was a winner. We had reserved a Peking duck and were told that it would be 45 minutes in preparation, which it was. We spent the interval having a drink and enjoying a truffle/black mushroom appetizer and wokfried broccoli. The duck was then brought out and carved tableside. The skin was served on pancakes for an initial course. The rest was taken back to the kitchen to be made into a spicy stir fry second course. The duck and subsequent stirfry could have fed four. Although dessert was wholly unnecessary, we opted for the wine steward to prepare a tableside calvados and coffee that nicely finished the meal. The staff then packed up the leftovers, which we brought back to the US for another meal. If you want a bankable and worthwhile Cantonese meal, Mott 32 is for you.

We pre ordered 3 ducks ( minium ) but the restaurant forgot about us and gave us one duck that took 40+ mins long to get to us. When we ordered a bunch of appetizers & entrees It came in 20mins but the portions were tiny everything looked like appetizers. In the end our resos were at 730pm and ended at 11pm feeling hungry and now Im going to get a burger to enjoy. Would I come back probably not because I felt like I paid $100+ for nothing.

The beautiful setting and presentation is what makes Mott 32 stand out from similar Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. Service is extremely attentive but feels robotic. The food is great, but not quite to the level of the premium prices. I particularly enjoyed the peking duck wraps and Mongolian beef dishes. There was also a vegetarian ice cream we had that was phenomenal. This would be a good place to go for celebrating events or having a special date with a loved one, but just consider that you can get better tasting food for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

Ive been to Mott 32 in Vegas so I know what to expect but the price still shocked me. Peking duck is a must order but because you have to order it one day ahead makes it very inconvenient. The duck fried rice (optional addon) is way too expensive but at least its good (albeit a little oily). The smoked sea bass should be avoided because the taste doesnt match the price. The lobster mapo tofu is interesting and a new take on mapo tofu so Id recommend trying it. The black pepper beef is not worth ordering either due to being quite plain. Overall its a good restaurant with some creativity but a little expensive but probably should be expected.

Impressive food and decor, however, service was not up to par. 30 min early for our anniversary dinner and ordered two drinks while waiting. The drinks never arrived in that 30 min, we had to reorder. We had the Applewood duck and some dumplings, hats off to the cooks. However, we also ordered seafood rice and it never arrived. Being that we were so full, it didnt really matter, until we see its still on the bill... Sorry Mott 32, you cannot be 5 star without 5 star service.

Lesson learned. I was scared to going there checking google reviews by others, especially price review. However my friend made a reservation I had to be there. Yep! Everyone was right about that. Way overpriced dimsum. Tastes- average. We didnt order a fried rice cost $45 I thought it was a joke. Total 4 different kinds of dimsum, no drink, total $175 for 3...We left hungry after shelling out. We could have plenty of dimsum+ crabs from other Chinese restaurants Not going back again. We had another delicious Peking duck meal at Mott 32. If you order this dish, you absolutely must get the Fried Rice addon where they take the left over duck meat and create the best fried rice Ive ever had. Also, the Soup Dumplings are to die for. Next time we go, well be ordering twice the amount so we dont have to share!!

Beautiful ambiance and fantastic service. At first we were taken aback on the prices of dim sum. We usually pay like $30usd for Dim Sum in Tampa. At Mott 32 we paid $400cad or about $300usd. However, after experiencing the service and tasting the food and wine, we give this five stars. A much elevated and upped version of the traditional dim sum experience. Its definitely worth it.

We absolutely loved Mott 32. The food was delicious! We tried a little of everything, including some dim sum, fried rice, sweet sour pork, duck salad, and dessert. All of it was tasty. The cocktails were just as good. I recommend the Old Fashion. Plus, the ambiance was great. Best of all was the service, Leann provided great service and recommendations when choosing our dishes. When I return to Vancouver I will definitely be dining here again.

Expensive, but very worth it! Very high end chinese food. We had never eaten in the style it is served, but it was so nice and delicious, we cleaned every plate! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Vancouver area. The chicken dish with the dragon fruit was to die for, everything was served very quickly and one after another. The service was phenomenal!

The sliced duck is served very slowly...the taste is also average. The duck skin is not crispy enough and is very soft. The dough is too chewy. The xiaolongbao and barbecued pork are okay.

One of the most elegant Chinese restaurants bridging tradition and modernism, weaved in with quality everywhere. Cant recall the last time dining at the same restaurant in less than 24 hours, luck pushed me to visit this place for dinner and than lunch, two different but equally great experiences. The food is outstanding, the dim sum: spicy soup dumpling and the shrimp crispy (rice noodle roll) competes for top places;while the flaky Wagyu puff pastry and scotch egg siu mai demonstrates incredible precision. Regrettably we did not have enough people to split the Peking duck carved table side. The egg tart was not the absolute best but a great ending to the meal. The beverage elevated the experience with great selection from around the world: Canada, US, France, Italy, Southern Hemisphere including Penfolds, etc. Great tea selection on top of creative cocktails. All these boxed in beautifully decorated dining environment, high touch without an air of arrogance. Great sound proofing even amidst of a somewhat busy service, which is attentive but never rushing. I have high praises for this place because the restaurant has mastered the art of listening. While the GM secretly thinks the incredibly diverse wait staff is not as well versed on the wine, the somm on the floor is there to ensure your beverage of choice will match well with the experience! #cheers

Ive never seen a better wine list in a Chinese restaurant, I will say that. And the service is phenomenal. The decor is amazing, as one would expect. The menu is extensive, and interesting. Weve eaten at many Asian restaurants in Vancouver, and this menu had a wide range of prices and options. Not any that I can recall below the $20 mark, except in the appetizer section, but the portions were not what I would call skimpy. The food itself was not the best Chinese food weve had in Vancouver, by any means. It was well prepared, the portions were generous, it was properly seasoned, but weve had better meals for the money. That being said, if youre looking for a memorable night out where you feel taken care of and you want the evening to be special, this is the place. The entire staff was charming, helpful, incredibly kind and warm.

Very unpleasant experience. I didnt even get to the restaurant. For making reservation for Peking duck (like they suggested), I have been calling them, left voice messages, and emailing them three days before my reservation, multiple times. No response at all. Ended up cancelling the reservation. Walking into the restaurant with this type of impression will ruin the dining experience no matter how good the food are. I am not sure if they are short on staffs due to pandemic or if they simply do not care. When you are claiming to be fine dining, I expect whole experiences to be part of dining. Very disappointing.
