736 E Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5T 1X9, Canada
Small, unfussy resource for classic Ethiopian meat & vegetable stews served with injera bread.
I was here with one friend for three times in the past year because it’s so so so far away from where I live, but the food is absolutely to die for. The lamb and veggie mix are amazing, I can’t stress how much. The food portion is very filling, as two female young adults we can barely finish the two dishes we order even when we came hungry. The price is SO reasonable given how much food is provided and I honestly hope the entirety of Vancouver can be this affordable. The owners are also really nice people. I will definitely visit again when I have an entire day off and someone to go with.
The food was soo delicious. I would highly take a moment to come in and dine in and enjoy the food with a friends. Sharing the food is a part of the culture and that’s something you don’t experience every day. Very intimate experience. Would recommend to everyone to go and visit! The staff are amazing! Beautiful people, beautiful atmosphere.
We stumbled upon this gem of an outlet with the intention to taste Ethiopian cuisine. This was our first time try this unique and interesting cuisine. The ambiance was quite cozy and homely. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The food was good. The injera bread reminded me of fluffy Indian dosa. The split pea curry, the spinach, cabbage, different types of lentil curries and the dry chicken stuff was good. The chicken was a bit too salty to our liking (I dont know if that’s how it is made). The house brewed honey wine reminded me of my Mom’s homemade wine. On the whole it was a wonderful experience.
Lovely little restaurant run by a small team of kind ladies. Affordable and allows us to try authentic ethiopian food in Vancouver
We had an amazing experience at Fassil’s. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Our server was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu and helping us make great choices. Dining here was not only tasty but also a lot of fun. Overall, a fantastic experience!
First time trying Ethiopian food and I've gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. I ordered the "Fasil's Combination". It serves 2 people and comes with the Veggie Combo sides, protein (selection of beef or lamb) stew, and a good amount of Injera to eat with it. Very delicious and I got exposed to a wide variety of new flavors, definitely got my money's worth. It cost $30 for 2 people. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something new to try or like Ethiopian cuisine.
The hole in the wall family owned 3star atmosphere makes this place even more 5 star. Owner will tell you what to eat and scold you if you don’t eat it. We go because of him and his shaving food. By far the best Ethiopian place in the city.
I recently had a fantastic dining experience at Fassil Ethiopian Cuisine, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality by the owner himself, who also happened to be serving and cooking. His genuine kindness and passion for Ethiopian cuisine set the tone for the evening. One of the highlights of the meal was the injera bread. Not only was it incredibly filling, but I was fascinated to learn about its health benefits. The combination of its unique texture and the various flavors it absorbed from the dishes made it an absolute delight to eat. Speaking of the dishes, the veggie options such as gomen, misir wat, kik wat, and alicha were expertly prepared. Each had its distinct flavors and showcased the richness of Ethiopian spices and herbs. The balance of flavors and the use of fresh ingredients truly impressed me. Additionally, I had the opportunity to try the siga key wat beef, and it was a standout dish. The tender beef, simmered in a flavorful blend of spices, was simply divine. The owner's expertise in preparing this traditional dish was evident, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the result. Overall, my experience at Fassil Ethiopian Cuisine was exceptional. The combination of delectable food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made it an unforgettable dining experience. I left with a satisfied palate and a desire to return soon. If you're looking to explore the flavors of Ethiopia and be treated to genuine hospitality, I highly recommend visiting Fassil Ethiopian Cuisine.
Delicious food!
Wow what an experience. Food tasted amazingly good. Service is top notch. They recommended correct quantity of food for the group. Beef, chicken and lamp dishes were cooked perfect and tasted superb. Had a wonderful experience.
Try this place out. Food was AMAZING. Very welcoming and friendly service.
Been there a few times. Delicious food, lovely service, very reasonable prices, warm and peaceful ambiance. Six stars!
This place is fantastic. Will definitely be back!
What a special place. Very tasty food, friendly service and cozy atmosphere. It feels like you are at an Ethiopian family home. Great value as well. Can t wait to go back!
More people need to hear about Fassil! The food made me extremely nostalgic for my grandmas cooking -- very similar to south Indian cuisine. If I lived closer, Id be a regular customer
Truly unique, delicious global cuisine. He encourages for you to use Ethiopian table etiquette, in which he will gladly give a lesson. I come to Fassils any time I am in Vancouver. I love the bold original flavors of the beef dish and the sweet heat of the cabbage dish.
Vancouver mainstay, been here for years and still the best Ethiopian food in the city. Great prices, excellent service, and a cheerful, warm ambiance. Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options available and delicious! Dietary restrictions: Can accommodate vegan, unclear if they still use halal meats Parking: Usually a fair amount of parking on Broadway Kid-friendliness: Staff are friendly and the restaurant is colorful Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to doorway, doorway is a little narrow but should accommodate most wheelchairs
Great food, and really showcases the great parts of the Ethiopian and Eritrean culture! Highly recommend the lamb dish, it s out of this world thank you again!
The food is amazing and loved chatting with the owner. Makes you feel at home.
Great service, delicious food and the atmosphere is so welcoming. The owner was so kind to us!
DISCLAIMER: this was my first time having Ethiopian food, so I am not an expert. This is merely my opinion. Was recommended this place and Im always down to expand my palette and get out of my comfort zone. It definitely was something new for me! The owner is humorous and kind. I asked for recommendations with something not too spicy and the beef I got served was still alil spicy haha. But manageable and had a good kick. The beef was alil tough I will say. I dont regret ordering it but probably will not order again. Price is on the cheaper end though portion size is just okay. Service gets 3/5 stars mainly because of the owners warm personality. But actual service was minimal (couldve definitely used more water refills). As others have alluded, the place is quite run down. However most authentic places are like this.
Absolutely delicious.
I could not recommend this place enough! The food is so good! Made with love! The food just melts in ur mouth. The atmosphere is so welcoming! The food is 10/10! Great drinks selection! Biggest compliments to the chef! I hope you give this place a try. It will not disappoint! Lick the plate clean type of meal! I honestly would have taken a picture for yall but it was so good it was gone so fast! Sometimes you just have to enjoy the moment and the moment is here.
Me my family had very delicious dinner. The restaurant is clean and friendly service. The food was amazing thank you for unforgettable experience and home like hospitality.
Absolutely delicious!! Injera is so soft and the beef stew was to die for!!! I have had Ethiopian food in many places across North America. This definitely hit the spot.
gee, I wish I had the same experience as many others had. Started with a cranky server, never smiled once, no rice option, only injera, that was a first, no towelettes for our hands before eating, was pointed to the toilet showing from the restaurant, ordered 3 separate platters, was not asked if we wanted the communal sharing forced on us, had to twist their arms to bring plates and a spoon because we knew OUR guests were not going for all hands in. I have eaten Ethiopian from Toronto, Detroit, Windsor dozens upon dozens of times and it had always gone super well, even with first time guests leaving super happy they tried it, 3 out of the 4 of us didnt eat. Fail in Vancouver mostly from how unaccomodating and unpleasant they were. A small explanation from the server at the start would have made it all less disappointing imho
Very intimate experience! Loved the service. You can tell the food is made with care and love. Type of food to cure any sickness if ur feeling under the weather. Would recommend to anyone looking to taste some good food and try something new! Good food to share with friends.
A gem of a place with great food and friendly service. We got the combo and opted for take out and were really impressed. Family run spot and they are so fun to chat with. We plan to go back soon for a dine-in experience.
Brings you the taste of different culture
Best Ethiopian restaurant!! They dont seem to be on delivery apps, but its 100% worth the effort of eating out! My partner and I arent Ethiopian, but even so, this unassuming gem makes us feel right at home. The owner is like an uncle who makes sure we finish our food and eat the best parts of our meal (the sauce-soaked injera on the bottom!); we always love to talk about Fassil with our friends. About the food itself: super flavorful, perfectly seasoned, nothing is under/overcooked. Come hungry because portions are generous :) Cant wait for our next meal here!
Great food and awesome people
Great food, ambiance and service.
A gem!
Unreal food, really charming spot, reasonable prices, and it wasnt busy at all. A must try if you re in the area.
My favourite Ethiopian spot in Vancouver! I ve been to a handful of other Ethiopian restaurants, and the food was the tastiest and freshest at Fassil. The chef/owner was extremely friendly and kind, which made the visit all the more pleasant. Vegetarian options: Vegan options available
On a positive note, the family was lovely, but we went for the food. The portions were smaller than the pic shown from 5 months ago, but there is a lot of injera bread to fill you up. However the biggest disappointment was the lamb. It was very salty, dry and rubbery. It had the texture of microwaved meat. We had the Veggie combo and the lamb. We spent $35 and got one glass of water filled which we shared. Fassil came highly recommended by friends, but we were disappointed.
This is one of the best place for authentic Ethiopian food! Incredibly delicious food!
I love this place. If you haven t had Ethiopian food, get yourself the veggie platter and you can t go wrong.
Delicious Ethiopian food served steaming hot and wonderfully spiced. Fantastic atmosphere and nice owner! We recommend the Fassil platter gor 2 as it was just perfect combo of veggies and meat and the perfect amount!
The pictures we saw just looked amazing and the food is ! But our portions were considerably smaller than what we saw in other reviews to the point we went and got dinner elsewhere. Wish we would have got more food or been charged more for more food or got more food like others did in their pictures.
To die for!!will come here again to fulfill my taste buds.....awesome.mmmmmmme
This restaurant is a jewel. I will be back
One of my favorite restaurants of all time. 10/10 food and service
Hands down my favourite spot to eat at. I m in love with Ethiopian food and this has got to be the best food I ve had in Metro Vancouver! Would absolutely recommend if you want to try authentic Ethiopian food!
High-quality food, but they sometimes get overwhelmed with phone orders
Great place worth going far out of the way for. So grateful for this Ethiopian option in the lower mainland
Don t let the outside appearance fool you. The atmosphere is nice and the owner is welcoming. This place is my first love for Ethiopian food. The prices are good and the food is amazing.
Ive been going here for 10 years but during 2020 lockdown it really became my neighborhood comfort food. Its not fancy but its reliably well made, Ive never had a bad meal after dozens of visits.
Best Ethiopian food in Vancouver period, if anyone has not tried this type of food please try it here before anywhere else, it will persuade your opinion on Ethiopian food forever.
Such a great restaurant! The owner is so nice and friendly, and the food is so good and very consistent. We ve been to Ethiopian restaurants all over the city and this has always come out as the best !!! Don t waste your time anywhere else !!
First time trying Ethiopian food. Food was great and is similar to Indian cuisine.
Very positive experience. Owner made us feel at home and served us a delicious meal (Fassil s Combination). Highly recommend.
Very nice place
Yum got the fassil combination
Delicious food!
Great food, rich flavor, fresh taste. I like to get the vegetable platter and the honey wine. Really warm and friendly service. Food : 5/5
Best food in the area! Like 20 out of 10! Get the combo, share it! Soooooo delicious and incredible for the price!
Excellent Ethiopian cuisine. Loved it. I will certainly go back.
I just ordered take out, first time ordering from this place. The meal I ordered was spicy, well cooked, the meat was tender. Wish I lived in the city, Id be a regular. Its really hard to find a spicy slow cooked meal that is full of flavor
Delicious food! Great service. Authentic place. Really enjoyed Ethiopian food as someone trying it for the first time
I ordered 3 takeout (agelgil) this past Friday, simply the best
This place is a hidden gem, the food is delicious, and the staff is quite friendly. Really affordable as well, i will be coming back for more.
Very friendly staff and owner. The food is good and satisfactory. The place is small and intimate, the portions are small but reasonably priced. With adequate vegetarian and vegan options.
BEST FOOD EVER! Best one in Vancouver yet!!
Best Ethiopian in the city, I eat here multiple times a week and they never miss! Love unc fassil everyone is very kind, great service Vegetarian options: Veggie platter is phenomenal
Amazing food. Shared 3 veggie combos together. Great service. Vegetarian options: Veggie Combo Food : 5/5 |
Amazing food Friendly place Vegetarian options: Vegan good Food : 5/5 |
I have been coming to Fassil for about 10 years now. It was my introduction to the delicious world of Ethiopian cuisine. Since then, I have tried many other Ethiopian restaurants in the lower mainland, but I by far prefer Fassil. It continues to be my go-to place whenever I crave Ethiopian food (which, once you have the cuisine once, becomes a regular occurrence). The owner and staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the prices are beyond reasonable. In short, I cannot say enough positive things about Fassil. It is probably my favourite restaurant in the city.
The food was amazing and the hosts/chefs were very kind and helpful!
Best Ethiopian food I ve ever had
Cant believe it has taken me this long to try Ethiopian food. So so delicious, I loved everything on this plate. Went with the lamb and the mixed veg but will definitely try the other proteins next time. Dont sleep on Ethiopian like I did!!
I lived with an Ethiopian in Toronto for years and went to all the best Ethiopian restaurants. This was equally amazing.
Really wonderful food here. The injara is very tasty and absorbs the flavour of the meal.
Have been here a few times and each time has been a great experience. Friendly service, awesome food and chill/cozy vibe. This is a great place to share and try an assortment of items.
I would say best Ethiopian Restaurant here in Vancouver. If you guys wanting to try Ethiopian Cuisine definitely recommending Fassil Restaurant as it has the best food and good service. Place was clean and ambiance is fair. We had a really nice dinner and had a good time in this place. Absolutely going back again!
I had a fantastic and very reasonably priced meal at Fassil yesterday. Can t recommend them enough! The dish I had was their veggie combo, and I loved every single offering, especially combined with the taste of injera. The owners were very warm and welcoming also. I enjoyed the music playing in the background, and the interior, however simple, was cozy and relaxing. There was a bit of a smell coming from the men s washroom but it s an old building so the owners must have little control over it. I can t wait to visit Fassil again and try their other dishes. Vegetarian options: They have a veggie combo which is a mix of 5 different vegetarian dishes on one plate with a generous portion of Injera flatbread
Amazing food and even better service! Went with what was recommended and will definitely be coming back.
Very tasty Ethiopian food the veggie combo is really good and the server was very nice.
Very cool
Excellent!! The food is soooo good. Fassil is a small low key family restaurant where you can find great comfort food. We shared a big platter with many tasting choices. I also had the Gluten-free injera which was amazing!! Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free diet. Parking: On the street and side streets
yum!
Good food but shady business model when it comes to payment methods. The restaurant should have been clear about what type of payment methods they accept when an order is placed over the phone. They shouldn t have tried to charge us extra because we didn t make payment using cash/ debit.
Service was +++++! Seems to be family run; our first time eating Ethopian food and the staff took care of everything, gave us an amazing and delicious meal, told us the best way to eat it, and all at great value. Would definitely recommend!
Ordered the $30 set with my friend. So good!!!
Dining room is basic and was quite cold when we were there. Excellent food and the chef came out to check on us. Plenty of injera to scoop up the great stews.
Went here for my sisters birthday.we had a combo platter added a lamb currey. Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing food!
Very good ethiopian food! The owner and staff is very friendly. Would recommend
Amazing authentic Ethiopian food. Well priced. I will be going back often!
Very tasty, full of flavor and nice, firm injera. Simple place with sweet service and low prices. Will definitely try again.
Absolutely delicious! The man was fantastic and the food was even better
Got the sharing platter on recommendation from the owner. Delicious, good value, attentive service. Will definitely be coming back.
This place gave us food poisoning. Also watched them microwave the food before plating it. They also charge extra if you dont pay them in cash. Go somewhere else.
Great ethiopian food, very friendly staff. Feels like they are genuinely passionate about their food and work Food
Good food and great service
Great flavours, delicious vegetarian and meat options. The owners are very kind and helpful. Reccomendations are the veggie sampler and the lamb.
Their food was so good
Absolutely loved this very unassuming restaurant. If youre about vibes. This place gives aunti and uncle vibes. You feel at home. And the food here was such a treat. More filling than I imagined I left satiated, with a takeaway and the price is amazing!
Best food ever. Vegan options are incredible. Amazing staff! Need to come way more often!
Came here about 4 years ago until yesterday. The taste of the food was great, but you can tell it was microwaved. Nothing felt fresh. Its sad, they used to be very good years ago.
Was very excited to try this restaurant, thankfully I phoned before going, and was told over the phone that if I wanted Tibbs , I d have to phone them 3 days in advance. Disappointed that they wouldn t have it on the menu already.
Tried the veggie combo and it was very good. Nice portion, delicious moist and fluffy injera, and mildly flavoured assorted veggie stews. Solid Ethiopian meal.
What a lovely find! Good food, grand service (totally!), and groovy music (that was softly playing). A really fantastic place. Plus the service memorable :)
Best Ethiopian in Van.
The vegetarian sampler is so tasty. Each item tastes completely different. I f your a meat lover like me, youll still feel fully satisfied after eating this. Food
Excellent Ethiopian food! We come from a city with over double the Ethiopian population and a large variety of Ethiopian restaurants, and this would rank amongst the best we ve ever had. We chose the Combination Platter ($30) with the Siga Keye Wot (beef stew), and it was perfect for two, with a variety of vegetarian sides, all served traditional style on buckwheat injera. A great place to try Ethiopian!
Yummy food
Been going here for years. Always fantastic! Portions are generous, fresh, and delicious
If you are hunting for delicious food, a warm welcome and an authentic Ethiopian meal make your way to Fassil. My friends and I enjoyed our lunch and the art work on display.
Fassil Ethiopian restaurant in Vancouver truly stands out as the best in the city. Their authentic flavors, warm ambiance, and attentive service create an exceptional dining experience. The rich and flavorful dishes, served on injera, showcase the depth of Ethiopian cuisine. From their aromatic stews to their perfectly spiced lentils, each bite is a delight. The restaurants commitment to quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods is evident in every dish they serve. Whether youre a seasoned Ethiopian food enthusiast or a newcomer to the cuisine, Fassil will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Every time I dine at Fassil Ethiopian restaurant, Im transported to Ethiopia itself. The authenticity of the experience is truly remarkable. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance, decor, and even the aroma of the dishes make you feel like youve stepped into a different world. Its not just a meal; its a journey through Ethiopian culture and flavors. The attention to detail and commitment to preserving the authenticity of the cuisine is evident in every aspect, making each visit a memorable and immersive experience.
Fassil Ethiopian Restaurant serves up delicious Ethiopian food along with a good dose of warmth and hospitality as well. It seemed to be a one man show as there was only one man who greeted us, took our orders and served us our food. He was ever so friendly and as half the people in our party were completely unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine, he saw to it that they were served the best options available for sampling a good variety of flavours. Veggie Combo Siga Keye Wot Yebeg Tibs Doro Tibs For anyone whos never had Ethiopian food, they serve the food on top of a soft flatbread, similar to a pancake in texture. This bread is called Injera and has a bit of a sour flavor to it. Extra rolls of Injera are given, and youre meant to use the Injera as a serving utensil by ripping off pieces of it and then using it to scoop up your food and eat it. Everything tastes so good with the Injera, and once youve finished the extra rolls of Injera you get to eat the large piece of Injera thats been soaking up all the wonderful flavors of all the various toppings that have been sitting on top of it! Its very messy finger food so you should definitely make sure to have clean hands before indulging in this type of cuisine! Bonus points for having air conditioning as weve been to other Ethiopian restaurants that did not have air conditioning during summer! Service: Excellent Parking: Free parking on the side street Location: 736 E Broadway, Vancouver, BC
This place is awesome. People are so nice and food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend to check it out, so glad we wandered in!
Delicious food with so much flavour! we can t wait to come back, a local gem
Wonderful little restaurant. Try the Doro Wat curry. It is literally my favorite flavor in the whole world now that Ive tried it.
The food was amazing! We got the sampler. Everything was interesting and delicious. The owner was super friendly and helpful.
Amazingly delicious great experience
wow, really good, the Fasil plate was great (every veggie dish was very good and we had the beef curry which was also delicious) Looks like a hole in the wall restaurant that throws down some solid food Vegetarian options: If you haven t had Ethiopian food but have had Indian food, it s more similar to this but definitely different. The vegetarian dishes are very good here, if they didn t have vegetarian dishes I would still have been completely happy eating here
Great little restaurant for Ethiopian food at an affordable price! Highly recommend the combination if you are ordering for two. The location is quite unassuming but the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. Delicious food with large portions! Id love to come back!
Great experience! The chef/owner was so friendly and helped us choose the perfect platter. I love Ethiopian food and this place did not disappoint. Affordable as well.
Turns out I really like Ethiopian food. Great service and fantastic food. Well priced and surprisingly filling.
Most excellent. I like Fassils Combination, great for two. A platter with 5-course veggie dish plus a dish in the middle with chicken or beef and wonderful spice and aroma. The owner recommended at one point: Less bread, more meat. A useful point to make! The portions are good and the flavours delightful. The combo and one dish was more than enough without much at all leftover, and we were full. I recommend Fassil to anyone who likes Ethiopian cuisine. Theirs is a place with a warm atmosphere.
Perfect quality
Delicious standard fair Ethiopian food at normal prices, also has a very friendly owner who served us
Delicious food! We love getting the fassil combination platter it has multiple veggie options and some meat options. The owner has always served us and we love supporting the small business. Highly recommend!
Great place to eat! We got the combination platter for two with the beef at the owners recommendation and it was superb. Nice variety, quick service, and great price. Would eat here again gladly!
Food here is amazing and also very affordable. I ve tried a few different dishes and you can never go wrong regardless of what you order. The asa tibs (fried bass) is my favorite. Can t wait to come back
One of the best meals Ive ever had
Love it!!
First time eating Ethiopian food at a sit-down restaurant and it was splendid. I got the doro wot & my friend got the vegetarian dish. Immaculate taste & perfect quantities at a reasonable price. The restaurant was also so cozy and warm- you could spend hours in there conversing. The owner was also so sweet and understanding.
Delicious food and friendly service. Great vegan and vegetarian options at a reasonable price. Vegetarian options: Veggie combo plate had 5 items. Great variety. One of the lentils could have been a bit warmer. Dietary restrictions: Pretty sure this is vegan and celiac friendly.
We hadnt had Ethiopian in a while so we werent sure what we were doing. Staff was so friendly and made us feel right at home. Food was amazing and the owner/cook came out half way through to check in- what a lovely man. Smaller site so would recommend a reso if possible (though we did walk in and were very lucky). We visited from out of town and will absolutely be back next time.
Good food, vegan friendly!
Great customer service. Friendly members of staff, if you want a taste of African cuisine (Ethiopian) you are in the right place here, the owner speaks Swahili language making one feel home away from home. i enjoyed Vegetarian options: They have steamed spinach, very tasty .
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Very good suggestions as well!!
Very friendly service and delicious food. I recommend the combination option for two people.
I went with colleagues last night to this wonderful little place. The food was excellent, the service courteous and warm, and the prices eminently reasonable. I will definitely be going back with a more adventurous group so I can try the kitfo.
Doro wat - spicy at the same time good for me.. I can handle super spicy ;-)
Food is reasonably priced and delicious. The people who work here are also so nice!
Delicious food and friendly staff with a comfortable atmosphere! We were given recommendations and had a lovely time here. We tried Fassils combo (vegetarian combo with keye wot)
Best Ethiopian food in Vancouver! The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. If you are not used to spice, ask for medium or mild spice. It is also clear at first sight that the owner reinvests a considerable amount of money in keeping his restaurant in good shape.
Food was delicious and staff super nice. It is our second time and already recommended to our friends.
I had a really great experience here not only with the food but also with the ambience, music and the staff who were funny and engaging.
Great food and friendly service. We had the Fassil combo with beef
Best Ethiopian food in town. The service is so amazing that you feel at home. The owner is always with a big smile that you feel he is cooking from heart. I simply love this place.
Great food and fantastic service! I will definitely eat here again. Best Ethiopian food in Vancouver!
Great food and good service. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Authentic Ethiopian cuisine had Beef Tibbs and assorted Vegetables. So so good.
First experience at an Ethiopian restaurant and I just loved the food. The vegetarian platter was delicious. I am a fan of injera now and this is definitely my go to place to eat now.
Really great food, we ordered the slow cooked beef, lamb, lentil, and cabbage/carrot. Everything is excellent, it has a bit of kick to it but just right and not too spicy. Customer service is also very friendly. Highly recommend this hidden gem
Very casual atmosphere. Traditional Ethiopian food done right.
Great food and great staff! Highly recommend the vegetarian dishes.
Delicious and good value. Owner is lovely.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Also really good prices!
Ten out of ten would recommend, such a fun experience and new way to eat food! I don t do well with spice but this place was amazing it wasn t to hot and it had a lot of flavour! Chef/owner was super awesome and was super helpful! Will be coming again
Such a yummy spot! We had the minchet abish and it was delicious. Best Ethiopian food I have had in Vancouver hands down. Will definitely be going back.
Food was delicious and the staff were super super friendly. The owner (I think he was the owner or head chef) came out to greet every single table. It really felt like a welcoming family run business. Not to mention very reasonable pricing. Would come here again 100% and I recommend for a wonderful experience
The food was SOOOOOO DELICIOUS and the portions are big, so win win! Loved it and cant wait to go back. We ordered the veggie platter but added a lamb and a beed dish - EVERYTHING was so delicious, though the brown lentild, spinach and lamb dishes were to die for. 10000% recommended :)
This was my first time trying Ethiopian Cuisine and it was incredible! The flavours were amazing, and the staff was so friendly and so welcoming. The only downside is I wish we lived closer, but when we are back in Vancouver again it will definitely get a re-visit!
We got the Fasils combination between two of us tonight and everything was so flavourful and delicious! I love a meal with a taste of a bunch of different dishes, and this definitely gave me a great idea what to order next time (the answer is: everything!) The shiro wat had a really nice spice to it, and the chicken was amazing too. The injera had a perfect texture, and Im only sorry I couldnt finish the whole plate! The owner also stopped by our table to check in, which was so nice - the restaurant feels really friendly. Well definitely be back!
Delicious food, friendly folks!
Offers gluten free injera.
Best Ethiopian in Vancouver for sure! We always find that their meat is tender and juicy and the flavours are on point. We get the Fassil Combo with Keye Wot. The gomen (spinach) is our favourite veggie dish. Also the owner is very friendly and always comes over to help anyone whos eating Ethiopian food for the first time. Thanks for the good food :)
Amazing food with friendly staff! Cant wait to come back
Lovely people, great service and delicious food!
Amazing and delicious food. The owner and staff are so nice and fun to talk to. If youre unsure about what to order he will help give you suggestions. Such a great place to bring family and friends :) Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options Parking: Paid parking up until a certain time locates outside the restaurant
This place was amazing!! Very affordable and the food was sooo good!! I wanted to get some just to take home for later. A little unassuming place that s got it where it counts!! A MUST try for sure.
Super amazing, best Ethiopian Ive had. Cheaper compared to others but much more flavourful. You can taste the different individual flavours in each dish and the beef we had was rich and had a nice kick of spice in all the best ways. The wait staff are all super friendly and gave recommendation to what we should order. Would return weekly if I lived closer
Excellent food! Highly recommended for everyone who wants to try something special. No cutleries, just your fingers . Love it! Beautiful stuff!
I m so glad to find this family owned and operated gem in the neighbourhood. I m always looking for a healthy vegetarian option and the veggie platter totally hit the spot. I d highly recommend to anyone in Mt Pleasant to swing by and try for yourself. Friendly staff, cool vibe and the food is A+!
As an avid Ethiopian food consumer and having been to Ethiopia many times I was a disappointed with the Doro wot. I am not even trying to be picky here. I am genuinely unsure of what it was that they served me. This dish didnt look/taste anything remotely to what doro wot is. When I go to a restaurant and order a dish I expect to receive that dish.
Got the combination platter (for 2) with beef and vegetables, it was so good! Arrived early for dinner and had the place to ourselves. Very welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend!
fantastic!
This place is awesome, Fassil knows what he is doing. Highly recommend to anyone who has never tried Ethiopian before!
Cant wait to get the Anjera ethiopian dish again
Absolutely delicious food! The staff is super kind and thoughtful too. One of my friends is a gluten-free vegan, and they were super conscientious of this. If we go again well call ahead so they can make gluten free bread (injera is the spelling?). I loved all of the lentil and peas dishes. All of the dishes on the veggie combo were good, but I particularly liked those. The pricing is great. This is a Vancouver treasure. 100% recommend. :)
I really love this place - visited last Monday for the first time since the pandemic and it was so good, the owners are so friendly and chill, I will keep bringing people here! It is unpretentious and relaxed, which I love, and puts all the flash in the food. I got the veggie platter to try a bit of everything which was a real treat and the bread is perfect. If I lived closer I would be here all the time but I m going to be coming back asap! My friends had never had this cuisine before and they were into it and asked to take home their leftovers after ordering too much (it s filling) so if you re looking at value for quality this restaurant will meet that as well. Bring a debit card so we can help locally owned businesses survive - they are no longer accepting credit cards and I support them! Highly recommend Fassil.
One of my favorite restaurants in Mount Pleasant. The service is always great. Friendly. The food is amazing. And the price is on point. Would highly recommend Fassil to anyone!
Quick friendly service and good prices for well seasoned Ethiopian food!
Delicious food, lovely service, casual but classy little place! The prices were very reasonable.
Authentic Ethiopian dining. Small, warm and intimate setting with super friendly staff who are very welcoming. If you havent experienced Ethiopian food, then this is a must. Reasonably priced and very tasty. Be prepared to eat with your hands! The majority of customers are themselves Ethiopian which is always a good sign.
The food is absolutely DELICIOUS! We have tried 3 Ethiopian restaurants in Vancouver: and this is definitely the very best! The owner is also very nice and humble. The location and ambience is not the best; but it s similar to the other Ethiopian places We did not take any pictures; but the pictures of the food and ambiance from others are the right representation
Good food. The combo meal is a good Value. I really enjoyed the chicken and my favorite veggie was the chick pea
My family and I were welcomed by the warm vibe of the restaurant and its lovey owners. This was our first time having Ethiopian so they kindly showed us the proper way to enjoy the food, a great experience if you re dining with other people. Would highly recommend getting Fassil s combo or at the very least the veggie combo as all the veggie dishes are sublime. We had lamb, beef and fish and all were lovely. Will be back for sure!
Love this place. Best Ethiopian food in Vancouver.
One of my favorite places to go. I get the same thing (the veggie platter) every time and it never disappoints. The owner is super friendly and the price is always right. Whether youre veggie or not, make sure to try the Shiro wat. So delicious, so flavourful. Very cozy and feels like Im having dinner in someones home.
Im gonna be dreaming about these flavours tonight. Generous portions and very friendly service.
Lovely food and very friendly service. The spicy beef was great
What a nice place I just found passing by. The staff were supper friendly. The chef came to me to give me his idea about choosing my food items better. I wish more people knew about it. The food was so delicious. I ordered beef and lamb Key Wot. If you are new to Ethiopian cuisine, like me, be prepared for a very spicy meal. Very delicious with a lovely heat. The enjera (bread) was also very nice. I will be back for sure.
It is a decent Ethiopian place. The service is good and the menu has all the standard dishes. The Misr Wot is really nice. The lamb (yebeg tibs) were overdone and the doro wot was flavorful but had way too much oil. Overall, it is a decent place for a meal.
Usually order the veggie combo here and its delicious. Staff are also very friendly.
The was so nice.
