Tucked away inside the Wedgewood, Michelin-Recommended Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge beckons with decadent décor, original artwork and impeccable service. Our award winning culinary team blends exquisite European-inspired cuisine with fresh, regional ingredients and sustainably sourced seafood. The Lounge is a hot spot for drinks, including nightly live piano music!
We had the best waiter! He was so friendly and had the best stories. Just made the whole experience pleasant. We came for drinks and snacks. The holiday cocktails were nicely made and tasty. We shared some appetizers which were perfect for sharing and tasty. Meatballs and chicken thighs. Then had a dessert sampler with chocolate and cookies. All were fabulous!
Great Service and Food! Bacchus Restaurant & Bar in Vancouver is a true culinary delight! My partner and I enjoyed a memorable dinner for two in this beautiful establishment. The ambiance is simply stunning, with dim lighting that exudes warmth and an old-school charm enhanced by white linen tablecloths. It's the perfect setting for a special evening. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was polished, friendly, and incredibly well-versed in the menu, ensuring we were well taken care of throughout our meal. They constantly replenished our fresh bread and water, and the dishes were promptly cleared after each course, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment. Now, onto the food! We indulged in the rack of lamb, which was cooked to perfection, and the lobster tartare, a delightful treat bursting with flavor. The herb-crusted fish was another standout, showcasing the kitchen's expertise. Each dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. While Bacchus is on the pricier side, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it worth every penny. If you're looking for a fancy night out with exquisite cuisine in a charming atmosphere, Bacchus is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!
I stayed here for one night, unfortunately, I was able to come only after dinner. Service was excellent. Cocktails were tasty and it oysters and curry board were excellent. Nothing less than what I expected
The first time that I ate, here was in 1998 and I took my wife on a date here from California. Last night and tonight were the latest visits since 1998 and when I say a restaurant is flawless, I don’t mess around. Bacchus is flawless! From the second you walk into the restaurant until the last step, this place is enchanting, and the menu is extra extraordinary. Come here! You will ❤️❤️❤️ it.
Lovely ambiance and excellent service. The food overall meets the high standards you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The duck liver parfait was really good and mashed potato was so velvety. One slight disappointment was with the burger's beef patty—it was a bit dry.
Lots of amazing Bavarian options on the menu, authentic and delicious with beautiful plating. I love the warming atmosphere of the dark woods and red velvet. Dining calm and mellow, I could easily spend all day here.
My partner and I went for the High Tea experience on Oct 6th, and the food was amazing. I would not come back again because of the server's attitude throughout the whole dining experience. Our server was a very tall guy. His whole attitude throughout the whole reservation was very dismissive and not accommodating at all. He treats us like he is pissed at us, so we get embarrassed every time we ask for something or ask questions about the menu. My partner is severely allergic to seafood, shellfish, and peanuts, so we had to make sure that he won't be consuming any of it. So we were trying to list my partner's allergies, and instead of lending us his ear so he could get it right, the server was just standing upright, causing him to get our order wrong. My partner was given seafood and almost had an allergic reaction in the restaurant. Good thing nothing bad happened as we had to proactively ask the nice lady (who took our pictures) what it had, which confirmed our suspicions that he did get our order wrong. Because of this mistake, the pastry chef himself had to come out to remedy the situation and gave my partner something to substitute what he couldn't consume, and applogized profusely for this error. The whole experience got ruined because of the server's high and mighty attitude, that it seemed like he was just so tired of serving. Another thing to add was that he didn't even bother explaining to us what the tower has. He just said, "Do you still need an explanation?" When we were about to leave, the server suddenly got all friendly with us and said to my partner, "You work here, right? It's nice seeing you. " -- My partner doesn't work there. Which led me to believe, did he treat us the way he did because he thought he knew my partner? Overall, the only redeeming factor throughout this experience was the amazing food, the live piano, and the nice lady who was very accommodating, helped us take pictures together, and explained the tower to us. I am very disappointed by the service that we had, as the server lacked the manners needed to be working in fine dining. I have been to many High Tea experiences, and despite being an elegant establishment, this by far was the worst experience we've ever had. I hope this issue gets remedied in the near future.
My husband and I were thrilled to try Bacchus, and it exceeded our expectations in every way! From the moment we stepped in, the vintage atmosphere transported us to a bygone era, setting the tone for a memorable breakfast experience. The aesthetic is truly top-notch, with impeccable attention to detail. But what really made our visit stand out was the exceptional service. From the friendly security to our server Yuki, who added a sparkle to our morning, every staff member was personable, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure a delightful experience. We started with massive and delicious Caffe Lattes, followed by the Avocado Sourdough and The Bacchus Breakfast, both of which were mouth-watering and savored until the last bite. Overall, our experience at Bacchus was nothing short of exceptional. If you're in Vancouver, do yourself a favor and make a reservation – it's an absolute must-do! We can't wait to return and indulge in more of their culinary delights.
We went to Baccus restaurant to celebrate our daughter s birthday. The place was so loud that it was impossible to get any conversation except with the person next to you. The food was good but a $68 steak was the size one can eat in four bites. The service was horrible. We had to ask the sommelier to decant our red wine in a carafe to let it breathe. After first serving, we had to pour the wine ourselves. A restaurant of this caliber can be improved by a better management.
I wanted to try this place because I ve heard nothing but great reviews about the atmosphere and design. The restaurant was so loud I couldn t hear the waitress (who was lovely). The music was horrible. A place that beautiful needs to play beautiful music, then maybe people wouldn t have to yell at each other to talk. Looks did not match the vibes, I was disappointed. Drinks were delicious.
My husband and I, love this place! We have tried their brunch, dinner and high tea! All good!
Great service and food Loved it. Food
This is the coziest, classiest spot for the holidays- staff party, intimate date night it s really a perfect fit. Our waiter, Franklin, was outstanding. It was obvious they were insanely busy but he offered a complimentary amuse bouche while we waited and apologized profusely for the delay with our cocktails. Surprisingly, our dinner came out very fast, even though the place was packed (strange on a Thursday night!). Despite the crowd, we felt relaxed and enjoyed the energy and atmosphere of Bacchus. We have only lived in Vancouver under one year but I think this is my favourite fancy restaurant that I ve dined at so far. I highly recommend every dish that we tried- the truffle risotto, butternut squash gnocchi, mille-feuille, and even the bread was delicious. I enjoyed everything so much that I forgot to take pictures! I look forward to returning and trying more dishes, but also to enjoy the live music and elegant ambiance. Definitely my type of place! Vegetarian options: Not vegetarians but we both weren t in the mood for meat and there were plenty of options to accommodate us
Walk in, got sat down quickly but many wait staff passed our table. Sat for 20 minutes and no staff came to take our order. The hostess said thanks for coming as we left Place seemed nice though, we were excited to go here. Oh well.
We were very disappointed with the food at the lounge. It was absolutely terrible. The fish tacos were so bad I couldn t taste any fish meat. I got stomach pain and heaviness after eating that. The service was good and the place is beautifully decorated but they really need to review the food at the lounge.
Wonderful meal great ambience too.
We had stayed at the hotel before and ate in the restaurant, food and experience was great. However, we went there for Brunch this past weekend to celebrate a special occasion and it wasnt a good experience. The food was good as it always is. They sat us on the most uncomfortable table in the restaurant, there were more comfortable ones available (that we had sat on before) but maybe they just took an instant dislike to us, maybe not as beautiful as the other people in there (even though we were wearing suits). My American/Chinese partner was pretty much ignored. No eye contact. Always asked me (caucasian) questions such as what would you like and how is your food. I was mixed between appalled and frustrated, I wish we had just walked out but we sat there without complaining as we didnt want to create a scene and spoil other guests experience. We wanted to try a dessert dish but they had run out, this must have been around 12noon and we had arrived at 11:30, pretty early to run out of something. The waitress didnt know they had run out and had to return to disappoint us. In other establishments of this calibre they usually inform the staff of dishes they run out of rather than have the guests order, wait then have to tell them they dont have it. We went to Dennys two days prior and even though the food wasnt 1st class we feel the service was better, at least they smiled at us and spoke to my husband. I sent an email to the restaurant to provide them feedback but they have yet to acknowledge or answer it.
Favourite lounge in Vancouver, great atmosphere and live music all in a stunning hotel!
I went to have coffee. I waited for about 20 minutes around 2pm on a Sunday. Service and atmosphere are great :)
Disappointing experience. Ordered wine and it came pretty much after meal was delivered. Server got hubby s entree wrong. My lamb order was ok- best part was the dessert but I had to ask for the dessert list. Was a late birthday but restaurant never did anything special. Asked for beverages with different servers. Wow! Noticed a solo customer kept waiting for service until the server noticed/ I thought he was going to walk out honestly. For a first class location, I expected better. Great food and although the mushroom risotto was an error, it was good but she took it back to the kitchen. When I got the wrong item at the fast food, the item was free. Where is the service these days?
Raj, the lovely hostess, is wonderful! Welcoming and genuinely helpful & engaging. We love the venue s ambience, delightful entertainer, who beautifully plays the piano & sings to please, and lovely decor at the Wedgewood Hotel. The food is over-priced for what you get. The complementary spoonful of amuse-Boucher tastes delicious. However, the white bread offering is tasteless & bland. I was disappointed with the taste of my duck dish with the beef-like gravy sauce; the only vegetable was over-cooked red cabbage. The food was not up to high standards as we experienced previously, over many years.
Despite having visited the lounge previously, we were faced with rude service. The hostess and the manager gave us unwarranted attitude due to a last minute change in our reservation. The manager even made comments that due to this change they lost revenue making us uncomfortable. They then seated groups before us letting us wait for 40 mins before we finally left. We had called days earlier asking to if we could make last minute changes. Honestly , skip this palace and go elsewhere.
The Nutcracker themed high tea was so lovely and tasty. We were so full by the time we got to the second tier of the dishes so be prepared. Who knew a few sandwiches, devilled eggs and 3 cups of tea would fill you up so much before dessert haha! Thank you guys, Vladimir you were excellent.
This is one of the best live piano lounges in the city. They are flexible with the menu ordering to accommodate guests and offer good customer service. I recommend this restaurant & lounge.
A languid brunch was made even better by Handan who is positively clairvoyant in her attention and kindness. Dependably delicious bites and a sumptuously comfortable room anchor this place as a favourite.
Came for the atmosphere. Good vibes and live piano music. Unfortunately the service was disappointing. My server was checked out. Took forever just to get a glass of water. I asked for some recommendations and he didn t offer any insight. The ladies at the table next to me had to correct their drink order four times. Simple drinks that the bartender couldn t get right. The server blamed the women and again didn t seem to care. For the prices I expected stellar service.
Scrumptious dinner with impeccable service a new favourite for fine dining in downtown Vancouver
Terrible food, even worse service
Horrible Horrible Horrible service! I had booked for the seasonal nutcracker hightea for 2 people. I called 2 days before my reservation letting them know we have a nut allergy to all nuts and I called again the next day to confirm they wrote this down. On the day of our booking once we showed up we were told they cannot accommodate a nut allergy because all their items have nuts! I think the staff should of notified me the first time I called or even called me back day of letting me know this so we wouldnt have showed up.
Lovely restaurant!
Amazing food, we got the steak and it was fantastic! Scott was a great host and he made sure we had an amazing night. Great selection of wine and fantastic food options. Thank you Bacchus and Scott for a memorable night. :)
This place isn t black people friendly, the Indian guy which is the manager here treated I and my friend badly because we are black!! Imagine asking for two pieces of ID in a lounge :( never since that my whole life of being in Vancouver and he was soo mean and kept being persistent about it,if reverse was the case I m sure that wouldn t have happened, definitely my last Time coming here.Racism is something no one should joke with and you the place isn t black people friendly then they can as well put that in the overview :)
From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with top tier service and a warm atmosphere. Our server Vladimir was very kind, welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Will be back!
Bacchus Restaurant and Lounge is the epitome of fine dining! The vibe is simply amazing sophisticated yet inviting, making it perfect for any special occasion or a luxurious night out. The food is exceptional, with every dish crafted to perfection and full of flavour. #ContestEntry
Good taste of food, pleasant music, very attentive staff, very elegant place
Its my go-to spot for breakfast and Happy Hour. Food is always good and service is excellent.
Bacchus is consistently a good option for a night out. Their food and service is exceptional. Great for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. Classic ambiance takes you back in time.
Amazing Lounge Great Atmosphere Stylish design Great Hotel Great location Parking: Valet and street parking
Went for Oktoberfest, we were the only ones eating the special, and chef served us personally!
My absolute favourite place to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The atmosphere is unbeatable and the staff and the service is impeccable. if I want to have a nice enjoyable lunch with friends or family. It s one of my favourite places in Vancouver.
We really enjoyed our time here & up until the final moments of our meal were happy with our experience. We tipped our server as much as we reasonably could. After settling the bill, the server just walked off - no acknowledgment, or thank you, or enjoy the rest of your evening . So we were left confused & saddened as it seemed we had offended them. I don t know exactly what our server expected, but it seems Tipping culture here seems to be breeding a sense of entitlement & it s a shame because this tainted an otherwise enjoyable night.
Had an amazing time, the food was good and Dawn was amazing she really took care of us. Would try again.
Elegant surroundings and efficient, friendly service. The bar tender knows his job and mixes great cocktails - no shortcuts during happy hour. The HH food menu is international but maybe a little uninspiring.
Always the best experience - and the Bachus Burger was amazing
One of the finest high end lounges in the city. Perfect service and food
I have been coming to Bacchus for special occasions since I first tried it during Dine-Out Vancouver more than a decade ago. What sets this place apart from other fine-dining establishments, aside from their delicious culinary creations, is the atmosphere. The dining room exudes old world, European charm, without the pretentiousness. The staff there are career servers: mature, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The soft lighting and live piano give a cozy feeling to the dining room. Although all the patrons are talking, you never feel like its too noisy. Dawn, the server from our recent visit, was attentive and respectful. All the dishes we selected were exceptionally flavored (lobster tartare, risotto, halibut, gnocchi, beef tenderloin). It is also probably one of the very few fine dining restaurants left that would provide free bread (freshly baked!)! If youre looking for a place thats classy, intimate, yet friendly and delicious, Bacchus will not disappoint!
Beautiful restaurant--perfect for a date. Our server Brody went above and beyond customer service wise and made our visit particularly special. Thank you for the exceptional experience :) ambiance is light and airy with a very elegant feel. Pretty reasonably priced too for the quality/area (compared to other luxury options ie Fairmont which has a similar feel)
A Micheline rated restaurant that should had received a star. In short, this is where you take someone special for a special night. Food is top quality, drinks are top shelf. The staff is among the friendliest, and the environment cant be beat. This is the pinnacle of fine dining in Vancouver. The staff made us feel at home. Go early, have a drink in the lounge. It is the second-best lounge in BC next only to Sutton Hotels lounge. Enjoy the live music from the grand piano. The dining room is magnificent. Pays homage to the old, but is in mint condition. Go hungry. It is one of the few restaurants in Vancouver the offer a proper mid course meal. Enjoy at least 5 courses, and make it special and have the caviar.
Just Wonderful. You must go!!
The setting here along with the live piano music and the superior staff make for a great experience.
A very classy place!
A Timeless Gem in Vancouver! Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge has been my go-to spot for years, and it never disappoints. The ambience is simply enchanting, with plush décor, original artwork, and those beautiful bay windows. The live piano music adds a touch of magic, making every visit feel special. The food is consistently exquisite, blending European-inspired cuisine with fresh, local ingredients. Whether it s the perfectly cooked steaks or the delectable seafood, every dish is a delight. The wine selection is extensive and thoughtfully curated, ensuring the perfect pairing for every meal. Service at Bacchus is impeccable. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and always go above and beyond to make your dining experience exceptional. In short, Bacchus is a timeless gem that I cannot recommend highly enough. If you re looking for a place that combines outstanding food, impeccable service, and a truly enchanting atmosphere, look no further. Bacchus is the place to be! Kid-friendliness: My son loves this place, and they have no issues with children in the lounge or dining room. He was seen and heard by the wait staff, what a delight!
Best place in town
One of my best dining experiences ever, especially when it came to service and knowledge, Tim knew everything on the menu, made some amazing choices like the risotto, halibut and prawn/scallop tagillini (or whatever that pasta-like linguini). That was super fresh scallops and prawns with some nice bouncy bite to it! Definitely upgrade risotto to entre size instead! They changed plates & cutlet literally after each dish, like Chibese style restaurants banquets lol. For dessert, hazelnut chocolate tart also delicious, quite generous size too considering for fine dining lol. And for kids menu, boy what a deal, good amt of fruit that came with the Mac and cheese. Elegant washrooms down the stairs with cloth linen towels ;) Easy repeat again.
Food was great, but the service was the best! Yuki W was our server and Ive never seen a waitress get into my daughters world the way she did. She was absolutely lovely. Wow! Thank you! We will be back!
Its got very good service and standard of food. Its a traditional European decor.. which I love to escape to!
The service at Bacchus was incredible, Ive never experienced anything like it. Kid-friendliness: They played Disney songs to keep my daughter entertained and setup a little bench for my boy to sleep on when he got tired in the middle of dinner. It was incredible.
went for lunch. food was extremely underwhelming. fries were soggy. rest was meh.
Amazing service, wonderful atmosphere, and great food :)
Been coming here when in Vancouver for 20 years. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with our 3 very tired (and slightly spoiled) grandchildren. Love the piano and menu!
Delicious food excellent service
Had been there many years ago for High Tea and went for a Birthday dinner this time. The ambiance was old Victorian and reminded us of England. The service was good but the server could have checked on us more to see if we need anything. We found ourselves trying to find anyone to help us. The live piano playing was beautiful however the singing was overly loud and we could not hear ourselves talk over the loud voice of the singer. Not very calming while having dinner. Maybe keep the piano player and get rid of the singing!! The deserts were mediocre, nothing mind blowing but pretty in presentation. Overall not bad a horrible experience but would probably not go back. The food quality does not justify the price because you can get that food at any fine dining restaurant.
We are our first meal of our honeymoon at Bacchus the other night and it was out of this world amazing! Dawn, our server was very personable, her service along with the team at Bacchus was top tier, she was professional, super knowledgeable about the menu and offered wine samples so we could decide what we wanted. My cocktail to start was an espresso martini and it was awesome! My hubby enjoyed his mocktails at Dawn s recommendation and when the food courses arrived we were wow d! We both gad a starter, the bocconcini and the tartare. I had the steak and he had the salmon and everything was superb! Dawn surprised us with a lovely dessert as we listened to the awesome pianist Shawn play in the lounge. The ambiance was incredible and we were so happy with everything! We will definitely be back and recommending this restaurant to everyone we know! Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and Dawn made sure to acknowledge that with the kitchen staff.
Dined in. Fine dining. Excellent atmosphere with antique and vintage vibes, with live piano music. Tried cod filet and tenderloin entree, food quality and presentation was satisfying. Cheesecake dessert and decaf coffee was average. I d say service was horrible. I took longer time to choose dessert and server told me this table is booked for next person, meaning order it more/now or get the bill. I was surprised to hear what I heard at this fine dining. I went in very casual dress code because I wasn t aware it was fine dinning, my fault. I don t know if it s related but those comments shouldn t be delivered to customers who are there to enjoy dinner.
Visited the lounge, service was very nice & cocktails well made, piano player added to the atmosphere. We didnt try the food this visit. I felt like I was underdressed, but no one makes you feel that way at all.
A rare authentic European-style restaurant in Vancouver, it is a must-go every week. There are many grandpas and grandmas with good taste. They serve Louis XIII which is rare in ordinary restaurants in Vancouver, which is very good.
We had a really nice dinner here the food perfect the waiter was very good, the only reason for 1 star was the guy ( sunny ) who told me to stop taking pictures for my gf which is her birthday!! The way he asked me was really not nice at all! I m looking forward for the replay.
What a great spot to relax and have a sumptuous meal. Service is impeccable and the food is excellent. Make sure to leave room for dessert. Food
An elegant restaurant with delicious food. This is a great place to go and have dinner with your partner, business, colleagues, etc. Whoever you take to this place, you will look good. Enjoy the food from the menu and ask for suggestions. If I would have to describe the service in this place with one word, would be quality!
Didn t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised Food was perfectly amazing. Service was exceptional and we sat in the bar area which was amazing
Chef Stefan is a master artist in that kitchen. His Food is a culinary masterpiece
Great place to gossip!
the food is decent, the potato soup was exceedingly salty and they took it off the bill. Good atmosphere, so is the service.
Live music, all the luxuries you want great service cheers to Franklin and Sonny.
Classy ambiance, impeccable service and delicious brunch. Highly recommend for a luxurious brunch experience!
My friend and I visited last week for the special German feature brunch to ring in our 21st birthdays. We tend to go to fine dining establishments quite often, and as someone who works in the service industry, I was extremely disappointed. Not once did our server introduce himself or ask about anything other than a drink order. I had asked for a mimosa with cranberry juice, however it came with orange juice. Our food came out lukewarm at best after an over 30 minute wait in which at no point in time did our server come to check on us. I had specifically asked for our fruit plate to come out first before the rest of the food so we would have something to munch on as we awaited the rest of the meal. However, it came out along with everything else. My poached egg was overcooked and our server did not check in until almost 10 minutes into our meal. Even then he only came around to ask if we wanted salt and pepper on our nearly half eaten meals. After our meal, we sat at our table with all our empty plates in front of us for over 20 minutes, before our server came and we were able to order our dessert drinks. When it came time for our bill, my food item was on my friends bill somehow. We did not say anything as it was only a small add on amount which would have taken him longer to fix than amongst ourselves. The most our server talked to us was when we were paying and making a joke about an incorrect tip amount. We have had extremely better hospitality going to big chain restaurants where we have felt more welcomed and taken care of. The restaurant was not busy and there was enough service staff on to pay a close attention to detail. We conversed more with one of the other servers when he would come around to check on his tables. We visited another restaurant for our birthday a few days later as this was a poor celebration, and the attention to detail there could not have been topped off. The ambiance was just what we were looking for. However, it was the other guests in the restaurant that made it so serene, not the staff. We were wished a happy birthday by two tables near us, and not once by anyone of the service team, even though our server interrupted us while we were opening our presents. We were looking forward to this meal for a long time, and quite frankly it felt like a waste of money for the cold food and poor service.
Dined in. They were out of french rose wine so we opted for the local option. Food was excellent. Make sure you advise staff about any food allergy. The atmosphere was super cosy, especially in the presence of dimmed lights and live music. Pianist/ singer was taking song requests. I enjoyed the overall experience. Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly
Beautiful venue, we ate in the lounge which was lovely. Very relaxing, formal yet casual. The service was excellent, thanks to Dawn. As a result we visited twice during our stay in the city.. really great experience, enjoyed the piano in the background... would highly recommend.
The best meal Ive had in a long time! The service, food, cocktails, and ambiance are all top notch! Cant recommend this place enough...will definitely be back to try more of the dishes.
All stars establishment.
Beautiful charming interior with a romantic vibe. Service was pretty good. The food was overall good, but a little heavy-handed with the salt. The duck liver parfait and the duck were both a little too salty. The burrata and the ravioli were perfect, so delicious. Unfortunately, the deconstructed cheesecake was overly sweet. Plating was beautiful, as expected.
As you approach the front door of this restaurant you are instantly taken back to another time. A time where things were more laid back yet elegantly beautiful. Everything appears to be well thought and deserving of the Michelin Star consideration. The following review was done as we normally do, from at least two visits (this particular restaurant we ended up dining at several times 2 dinners, 1 brunch and 1 breakfast as we stayed at the hotel that houses this establishment). The Good: - The Food... Exquisitely crafted with fresh ingredients and well balanced. - The Atmosphere.... Beautiful with vintage London vibes. The Average: - The Cocktails.... We tried several cocktails and they all seemed to have the same flavor profile even though the description would have you feeling they are completely different. While good nothing to make it memorable. The Not So Good: -Consistency.... The first time we dined we had a very well prepared, knowledgeable, attentive and responsive server. The second time around, not so much. While the services werent bad per say it wasnt up to par with the locations decor and the food. While the service is decent enough to rival against most restaurants in the city it is not anywhere near Michelin Star worthy. And while Im not just referring to the small things like bringing all of the drinks for the table out at the same time, plate runners not knowing who ordered what, hostess not being present to greet you when you walk in or exit just mention a few. -Management... Manager seemed to be lost, walking back and forth with no purpose. He did help a server with a large party by filling their empty wine glasses, he could have delegated that task to one of the many plate runners and / or bussers that were standing around and used that time to maybe greet a table or see how the tables enjoyed their dinner which never happened. While most of these inconsistencies and critiques are small they would be appropriate for the location as a fine dining establishment.
Bacchus lounge is a great place to meet downtown, have a drink or two, and get a snack or light meal. The drinks and food selection is very good. If theyre not too busy you can move to the restaurant. We have always found the service to be very good also.
Classic room that needs no updating. Lots of fond memories of spending time here over the last 30 years or so.
Wonderful experience! All the food was delicious. We started with a little complementary smoked tuna appetizer that was yummy. We then had the duck liver parfait, which came with two pieces of toasted brioche bread; it was very flavorful. We continued with the wild mushroom and truffle risotto, which was delicious and surprisingly abundant. For main courses, we had the lamb shank and the dry aged duck; the lamb was very tender and the duck was perfectly cooked. We shared a delightful deconstructed cheesecake for dessert, and we finished the evening with some complimentary chocolate treats. The restaurant offers a comprehensive wine selection; we paired our dinner with a French Château Tour Bayard and an Italian San Felice Il Grigio, both very pleasant red wines. The service was very attentive and professional. They brought us complimentary bread and butter all throughout our dinner. They also let us try the wines before ordering. Our main courses arrived while one of us was in the washroom, so they brought two dome lids to keep them warm. They took our coat when we sat down, and they opened our Uber door when we left. The ambiance is classic and sophisticated. There was live music from a pianist, which was pretty pleasant. We spent $256.50 for two people (not including tip), and it was totally worth it.
Always a lovely time and such yummy food!! I highly recommend the duck entree! The atmosphere is also fantastic, the pianist is incredible. Been here two times and both times Franklin took amazing care of me and my partner!! Delivering top notch service! I HIGHLY recommend requesting Franklin as your server when coming in!! He ll make sure you have an incredible time no matter the occasion! Thank you for such lovely experiences!
taste is very bad
Dined in the Lounge for a late dinner and drinks. Live pianist performing throughout the evening. The booths are comfortable and very romantic.
very really amazing place. provide me an awesome moment.
The best meal that we both have ever had. It was hard to take every bite because you just wanted to savior every flavor. The service was fantastic and made us feel special. The atmosphere was the perfect pairing to the meal with the piano melody filling the air. We had an early dinner and were the only ones in the dining room with an excellent view of the kitchen where we were able to watch the genius in the kitchen. Would HIGHLY recommend.
Turkish below It was a very pleasent evening. The food was very good and the service was impeccable. The piano from afar improved thr atmosphere which was already very good. I will definetaly go back in me next visit to town. They have an extended wine list it is best to study before going. We had a very nice evening. Great food and faultless service. The sound of the piano coming from a distance gave a different atmosphere to the already beautiful environment. I will definitely go again when I come to Vancouver again. There is a long wine list, it would be useful to review it before you go.
We wanted a quiet break after our train ride to Vancouver. Had a pot of Darjeeling tea. Our waiter was friendly. He also brought us some wonderful candy corn with a bit of heat. Yummy. Looking forward to returning for dinner.
Love it. The guys go above and beyond, they never say no even when I ask about something that is not on the menu. They say ok the atmosphere is just great and every time they were able to find a table for me without prior reservation. Definitely recommend!
Food and atmosphere were wonderful. The service rea ly put the whole experience over the top. Thanks to Scott for taking such good care of us.
Classic old-school fine dining. Id highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Minimal, but what they do is awesome. Food : 5/5 |
Classy
Really cool atmosphere! Live piano, wonderful food, excellent service! Cocktail for me that I have been searching for for years! The fact that she knew how to make it and made it really well reflected, for me. Anyway, a real sense of expertise. The live piano was the highlight though. We had tons of fun. Guessing the songs that he was playing. Lots of popular music! Definitely returning.
The food was excellent and the service was extremely quick. Good for a date or an intimate dinner.
We had brunch at this place! The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a great brunch in the middle of downtown. The service was excellent. We started with truffle Parmesan and then I ordered the sourdough avocado toast with a poached egg/egg whites. Also tried the Turkey Club House with a side of Caesar Salad. We re definitely going back to explore their dinner menu. Although the bill came to $90, which is a bit pricey for a brunch spot, we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe.
Vegetarian options: There were good vegetarian options Food
My kind of spot! Beautiful, classy, have a real fire , delicious cocktails, older people hanging out as well, great music, perfect low light, great place to talk, the smells at the entrance are fantastic!
Great food great environment love it
Tried the #DineOutVanFest 3-course dinner for $65 and was treated to a delightful experience. The restaurant boasts luxurious Venetian decor, creating a truly elegant ambiance that adds to the overall dining experience. The must-try dishes include the rich and velvety Duck Liver Parfait and the creamy Potato Sage Ravioli Trio. The main courses, Pan Seared Steelhead Trout and Red Wine Braised Pork Bourguignon, were flavorful, although I would have preferred a crisper fish skin and more tender pork with a richer sauce. The desserts, Nougatine Dome and Sticky Coffee Toffee, were heavenly, albeit leaning towards the sweeter side. The wine pairing, available for an additional $45, is decent, with the Riesling being a particular highlight when enjoyed alongside the Duck Liver Parfait. However, the service did not fully live up to the 5-star hotel and Michelin recommendation. There were issues with the reception, as well as some mistakes with dish and wine pairing orders. Overall, it s a memorable dining experience with standout dishes, but improvements in the service would elevate the overall experience. ___________________ IG: #roamardtheworld Music credit: Cavendish Music - Love Letter
Amazing experience at bacchus lounge. Old world vibe with creative cocktails and a super friendly serving staff. We could have stayed here all night! Enjoyed the great drinks and small bites available after a long day of touring downtown Vancouver. Look forward to our next trip to the Wedgwood Hotel and the Bacchus lounge!
We anticipated a delightful evening to celebrate my birthday and Bacchus Restaurant surpassed our expectations! Hansa and the welcoming staff created a vibrant atmosphere in a fully occupied restaurant. The piano bar experience was exceptional. The skilled pianist added a touch of elegance to the evening; the complimentary dessert was amazing. The combination of great drinks and live piano music created a memorable birthday celebration. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant located at the Wedgewood Hotel for a superb dining experience and a refined and enjoyable evening out.
My son and I went to Bacchus to try the DOV menu, it was amazing and we both loved it. Whitney and Izuki both were very attentive and friendly. My favorite dish is the duck liver parfait, highly recommended!!
very nice ambiance, food was delicious! (the bathrooms are amazing lol)
Great food and service
Personally, the food was much more delicious than Five Sails. I also loved the antique atmosphere of this hotel. to start: winter green lobster , entree: ravioli , main: dry aged ducks I ordered cod fish and the duck meat was amazing. The oil tasted like goose, probably because they used a large duck. The server was also very professional and friendly.
A wonderful and elegant place for tea, which happened to be their Valentines Day theme. Was really impressed with the variety of items and live piano music complementing the service!
*Update, Started with oysters and warm bread, followed with cod and lamb. A perfectly presented table in a warm atmosphere, thank you. Dress up, and take your loved one to one of the top 10 in town. The atmosphere, service and presentation are wonderful. A window seat on a nice day adds to a perfect memory.
In my quest for the best brunch restaurant in Vancouver, we tried the mighty Bacchus this Sunday. The dining room space is quite cozy, with tables a bit too close together. I had a seat facing the kitchen and was able to see various menu items coming out from the kitchen. The most impressive dish is definitely the Turkey Club Sandwich, where you get freshly made pomme frites. I watched the food runner(s) pick up each plate with a fresh napkin, obviously, I thought the plates and food would be very hot. So by the time our orders were placed in front of us, I was looking forward to enjoying steaming hot Classic Eggs Benedict and The Bacchus. To my surprise, my potatoes were not hot, and tasted stale, either because the oil was old, or it had been cooked a while back. To check, we touched our plates, and they were cold. I never thought that a restaurant with Michelin Guide mention would serve hot food on cold plates! As a result, freshly cooked items like the English muffins with back bacon would lose their heat quite quickly. During our first bites, no less than three people asked us how the meal was, and all of them looked at my partner only, not me. In fact, I tried to mention to one of them that my food was luke warm, and the food runner was so sure that the meal would be just fine that he didnt listen and answered: perfect. I didnt finish my potatoes as the stale potatoes were not worth eating. Potatoes really make or break a breakfast dish and ought to be steaming hot and crispy when served. Although it is likely that we will come back again, but most likely not for eggs, looks like the Turkey Club would be a safer bet since at least the french fries will be fresh, and you can hardly pre-cook multigrain toast. The service was excellent until we were ready to leave, we had to wait quite a while for the bill.
Thank you for another memorable evening. Such a warm and charming lounge and the service is second to none. already looking forward to our next visit! Food : 5/5
Went here for my birthday. Our server was really nice! The food was amazing.
I love this place. Very warm feeling and great service. Its just happy. Best Lounge in the greater Vancouver area in the absolute best hotel in BC. Food
It has so fancy vibe with tasty food. We ordered oysters which was so fresh. And I had the steak was blue rare so so yummy. I got the cocktail with mint, lime juice and cucumber, I forgot it s name was and amazing. I m gonna try it s Afternoon Tea, definitely it takes me to classic movies
The Food was absolutely delicious, but male waitress should have more training of how to be a good waiter. He didnt show any interest of our present as the guest. Maybe he is suitable for the food stand service, but not for the beautiful restaurant like Bacchus . Food
Old vibe feel, fantastic pianist every night I was there. Have him play your favorite Nintendo game track or star wars and enjoy your cocktails! Cheers!
Phenomenal experience. Our server Tim was very knowledgeable and made our experience 5 star. Our experience was almost perfect except the private room has no air conditioning and can get a bit warm with a large crowd. :/
The buttermilk fried chicken was divine
Delicious food set in a romantic ambience with live piano music. Service was impeccable and they catered to a Gluten Free diet. I recommend the duck. Will return here. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free
Delicious food and great service
Always top notch.
Good option for a drink and simple, well-prepared food
We went for dinner and werent really hungry so shared the roast chicken with tuna tartare as a starter. It was just the right size and the food was phenomenal. We had a view of the kitchen and it was obvious that they knew their stuff. And Im grateful that the waiter still served us after I asked a few dumb questions about the menu (the half roasted chicken is half a chicken, not half roasted)
Wonderful.
Less expensive than I thought...
Great cocktails
incredible dinner for a friend s 88th b day. The separate room not offering 100% privacy but sufficient separation from the main dining area. Service dining outstanding Food
Happy hour for a glass of white wine. Great place ,must come more often. Very attentive staff.
Franklin rocked it tonight !
This is the second time here. Before was pri covid and just now for the second. The lobster bisque was a tad brown, not ruined but not the best. All I could see was 4 pieces of chopped up shrimp and no lobster. The shrimp and scallop tag was excellent! Spicey and savory like a carbonara except with sea food. My wife had the ravioli with scallops, and it was perfect also. Ours server forgot a drink order, and when reminded, she brought something that I didnt order. I guess it was a busy Sunday night. Might be better on a weekday.
Great service, staff is amazing, food is quality always!
Fabulous evening with piano bar, beautiful cocktails and amazing food. Server was first class. The art of fine dining is not gone So nice to have a lovely dinner served on a white tablecloth and fine service. FIVE STARS
My favorite lunch spot in Vancouver
Tim as the waiter and Shaun on the were the on top of a fantastic evening. Hospitality was exceptional. Really cool swanky but not w y atmosphere. Food was the quality you expect from an establishment like this. Highly reccomend for a celebration meal or to woo a partner
What a beautiful restaurant in the middle of Downton Vancouver. Solid atmosphere, very good menu. The food is high quality and tasty. The wine list leaves nothing to be desired. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The lounge is also recommended.
The service here was excellent.
Sorry, but dont order the ravioli and scallops this week; I got sick a couple of days ago about 20 minutes after eating lunch. I felt bad for about 8 hours! Food
Great food, service and ambience.
The Classic burger was really Classic Good quality burger. But I would not say that it was something special. Burger comes with crispy fries. Dessert was a disappointment, to intense sweet and buttery. Service at the top Food
One of my favorite spots in town. Cozy up next to the piano, its a divine treat!
Love it, price reflects the environment. Taste of the food and drinks are good.
Our server Tim had a great sense of humor, was very professional, and he knew his s#%$! Thank you Tim and Bacchus restaurant for a great evening.
Traditional dark wood decor and pianist provides a luxurious ambience. Duck breast was made so well - the skin was perfectly crisp, not too oily/fatty, meat was very tender and the sauce was so flavourful. Appreciated the complimentary warm bread (nothing special but it was soft) and mushroom amuse-bouche was tasty. Service was professional and friendlier to some other tables, but they were fine. Pricey as I only ordered one main and tea, and it totalled about $80, but really enjoyed the meal. Overall, I d recommend this place.
Simply perfect. Delicious food and exquisite service. Pamper yourself. It s worth it.
A very solid experience! Delicious and fresh ingredients with lots of smart cuisine to choose from. The team spirit of service was evident and effective as we felt well cared for. All around a lovely evening.
For an unparalleled brunch, Bacchus proved exceptional. No one can be disappointed
Nice atmosphere
Was really great atmosphere and food as well. Definitely will come again
Very over priced.. but the food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect
Amazing food and atmosphere. The service was lovely and the waiters were attentive and eager to help. The music was fitting and the food was amazing. Vegetarian options: There were some good vegetarian options. My vegetarian friend really enjoyed his meal
Great food, but mediocre service at a fine-dining style restaurant . I called them a few days ago that I am celebrating birthday with my partner, and I told them about my reservation. They said they will provide a free pastry regarding that. Upon arrival, they did not ask about the occasion at all. My waitress served as if he did not know the birthday happened, despite after calling them a few days ago. Then at last, after about half an hour of sitting and waiting, we would have to raise our arm to the server to ask him for the bill. If youre looking to celebrate someones birthday/special occasion, this is probably not the restaurant you are looking for.
Good food and atmosphere overall. Superb!
Yesterday, Oct. 25, I went to grab breakfast. The server was exceptional and very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was cosy and warm. However, the Bacchus Breakfast was lacking in flavour, and proper portion size (very little).
My husband and I went last night and it was lovely. Food, service, atmosphere. Our waitress Elana was super attentive, in a calm and friendly way. Great energy!
A top flight cuisine with freshness as a primary component we were welcomed with an authentic welcoming experience the atmosphere is cozy and inviting the food was delicious and very tasty the music set a very relaxed tone to the meal my Brioche French Toast was very good and my wife quite enjoyed her Bacchus Grilled Breakfast..
Whoever answers the email is unprofessional and came across condescending. I can only comment on the service I received over email as I have not been in the restaurant. After this experience I will stay clear of trying it.
The food was pretty good, the atmosphere excellent and the staff polite. Overall a good experience, however, a subtle upgrade in flavor would elevate it further, justifying the prices. The dishes were presented well.
We reserved for my birthday. They gave us a table too far to hear the live music. It was so close to the washroom. At this restaurant, there was no point if I couldnt see and hear the live music performed. Food was mediocre for the price. The ambiance was good.
We went for the nutcracker high tea. The good: - The ambiance of the lounge is very lovely - live piano was a nice touch - feature tea flavors were quite nice - savory selection was uncommon in a good way The not so good: - the quality of some of the pastries were not the best - the service was very slow with us finding ourselves having to search and wait a good amount of time for the hot water in our tea to be refilled. our server was not friendly and seemed like they did not want to be talking to their tables - A proper tea setting was not used. The tea curate was very basic which was OK, but the tea came in a french press not a proper teapot We had to prepay the entire cost of the meal plus 18% gratuity when booking. After experiencing the food and service I am quite disappointed and do not think this restaurant was worth the money. Would not recommend anyone go here for high tea.
The Bacchus restaurant is a wonderful place to come in out of the Vancouver cold. It has a wonderful atmosphere of old-fashioned comfort and luxury. Tastefully decorated with Christmas cheer and a luxurious log fire to top it all off. The service of the staff, in both the bar and restaurant, was excellent. They were warm, welcoming and engaging. Thanks to Maclain for provided an interesting selection of cocktails and local beers and Sam for making our dining experience special. The menu is very varied and absolutely delicious and the wine list is equally as interesting. This restaurant was a definite highlight during our stay in Vancouver.
The pizza is too hard to bite. The burger patties are too dry. Everything is good but food.
Restaurant is in the Wedgewood hotel. Enter via hotel main doors not street. Had a client lunch here recently. Decor, service and food feel very high end, but not stuffy, and not as expensive as I thought it would be. Guests had mushroom risotto, pizza funghi, fish tacos, butternut squash soup. All were delicious. Bread is great - has that crusty exterior and chewy soft interior. We lingered a while after. Place was packed but no one rushed us out. Really nice meal. Will go back again for date or business meeting.
The atmosphere and service is worthy of the Michelin guide recommendation. The food was delicious but the star was the bread and butter.
Reservations dont make a difference so please avoid Bacchus for special occasions. We had a 7:30 PM (6 December) reservation and when we arrived (at 7:25 PM) the hostess told us that they wouldnt be able to seat us. After more discussion, she begrudgingly offered us a spot in the bar. This is not what we had in mind for our evening out. To make things worse she was unapologetic and quite indifferent to the situation. A simple, Im sorry about this, let me see what we can do. would have gone a long way. As guests of the hotel we had to talk to the front desk, it was only at this point that they offered us a table. We would like to mention Nick, our server, by name for his cheerful attitude and attentiveness. Thanks you, Nick!
Service was excellent
Despite the great service and classic cozy ambiance, the menu is a blah and good portion is small, for brunch the best deal is burger with cob salad
Exquisitely fabulous dining experience. Service was magnifiq, food was extravagant. This is the place you go for extra special occasions. Totally worth it!
Maclean and YK are first class servers at the bar. Order the espresso martini if you can!
Great atmosphere and excellent waiter, however, my friend and I both are intolerant to corn additives and preservatives (cornstarch, etc) and get migraines the next day after consuming. Evidently, it s in all the main course entrees at Bacchus restaurant. I would have expected better ingredients for an upscale restaurant. The chef wasn t able to make us a jus without cornstarch, so, our $50 per person entrees were served dry. Dietary restrictions: It would be great if more restaurants were aware of how bad additives and preservatives - like cornstarch and sulfites - are, are . for everyone. I have been intolerant for many years, but, these issues are on the rise and affecting so many people these days. There is no need to use processed, genetically modified foods like cornstarch to thicken sauces and desserts, when there are so many healthy options. I expect it in cheap restaurants, but, not at over $100 per person.
Bacchus Restaurant at the Wedgwood Hotel is our go-to for MOTRATi Fashion Brand meetings, especially when were discussing our latest fashion line, visual merchandising, marketing or simply grabbing breakfast. The European-inspired cozy vibe makes us feel at home the moment we step in. Coffee and breakfast? Unbeatable. Its our absolute favorite, whether youre a local or a visitor. And the service? Exceptional. Bacchus isnt just a spot; its an experience we cherish. For MOTRATi, its where we connect, brainstorm, and enjoy each others company. Its become an essential part of our routine for few years now, offering a welcoming ambiance, great Italian coffee, delicious food, and genuine service every time were there.
We ate in the piano bar area, which was comfortable and a good atmosphere (if a little too noisy for easy conversation). We were able to choose from both bar and restaurant menus. All four of us enjoyed our beautifully presented food and our drinks, the service was excellent, and I d definitely go there again. (visited September 23, review is late!)
