Cozy, romantic atmosphere for classic Italian meals with modern touches.
Food 1. Lupo Focaccia Bread: So good. A great start! 2. Octopus Mosaic: We ordered it because it seems to be a popular dish. I personally found it slightly salty; but perfect with the bread. 3. Spaghettini Bolognese: we really like it. Generous portion. The sauce is not heavy yet very flavourful. 4. Truffle Fettuccine (Featured Item): if you really like truffle, this is a must go! I was so amazed by how delicious it is. 5. Veal Ossobuco: 10/10 6. Lamb Shank: good Service: very professional and friendly Atmosphere: welcoming and cozy
Amazing place. We were thinking of dining here around a year ago, passing by almost every day. And finally, we did it. The building is old and has an interesting history. It has a nice and cozy atmosphere, cheerful staff, and super delicious cuisine. This is one of our new favorite places now.
I really love the restaurant. The interior is fabulous, and the whole vibe of the restaurant is mind-blowing and very cozy. It's totally worth going there, and the food is awesome. The staff is really cooperative. They will guide you through the menu and recommend options based on your preferences. They also have a wide range of wine options. It was a really great experience.
We went here for the first time to celebrate a birthday, and the service was extremely friendly and nice. The food was amazing, and the octopus mosaic was insane. I would love to visit again to try their other main dish options.
I really liked that they transformed a house into a beautiful restaurant. The place was pretty fancy. However, I felt a bit uncomfortable because the servers kept checking on our table frequently and seemed to be watching us. I started to wonder if I was doing something wrong, haha. The food was good, but not quite what I expected. It was my birthday, and they surprised me with two shots and a candle, which was a very nice gesture.
4.5/5 stars My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Lupo on our first night in Vancouver, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic date night, with an intimate and romantic atmosphere that sets the tone for a lovely evening. The staff were warm and friendly, making us feel welcome and attended to throughout our meal. As a Vinoteca, Lupo truly lives up to its name with an impressive selection of wines to choose from. We ordered the Lamb Shank and Spaghettini Pesto, both of which were delicious and expertly prepared. Our server was extremely personable and warm, making great recommendations and ensuring our glasses were always full. The standout desserts were the Creme Brulee and Sorbets - absolutely divine! Overall, we highly recommend Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca for a wonderful dining experience. It's a great spot for a special occasion or a romantic evening out.
Service: ★★★★ : Their service was neither excessive nor insufficient. They were kind anyway. Mood: ★★★ : It wasn't extremely upscale; it was rather cozy. Octopus Mosaic: ★★★★★ : It was the most delicious dish. It was a very good appetizer, refreshing and stimulating the appetite. Tagliatelle Nero: ★ : It was the most expensive item on the pasta menu. Perhaps it used a lot of salt because it was too salty. Fettuccine: ★★★ : It tasted like a regular creamy pasta with a good truffle flavor. Overall: ★★★ : I had high expectations because this place had very good reviews, but I was disappointed that it didn't meet my expectations. I felt that the price was somewhat expensive compared to the taste, quality of the food, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. With this amount, I feel like I could go to a restaurant that is more delicious and has a better atmosphere. Since everyone has different taste preferences, I don't think other people's reviews were wrong. Just keep in mind that this is my personal opinion.
I went back and this time got some pictures. It is nice cozy restaurant like a home. Tasty meals with a wine were very pleasant. Everything was amazing.
Felt like family
We have been to Lupo numerous times over the past 10 years and it has always been a great experience. We love the food and the staff. Definitely will be going back
The place is a hidden gem on the outskirt of Yaletown. We had bread basket, octopus salad and beef carpaccio for starters, truffle fettuccine, lobster taglierini and chicken breast for entree, and shared a tiramisu for dessert. We also had an aperol spritz and white wine to drink. Everything was fresh and perfect. I highly recommend this place and we are definitely going back.
This restaurant offers a cozy, elegant atmosphere with delicious Italian cuisine and excellent service perfect for a date night or special occasion.
I love this restaurant and I miss it all the time.
The Tagliatelle Nero is absolutely delicious! Our server Matt B was amazing. I thank him for his kindness and patience as I was dining with my four mature aunts. See you again next holiday season!
Tori was such a nice waitress and everyone was so sweet and thoughtful on our last night of Vancouver. Highly recommend, nothing but good times all around. Vegetarian options: Great options.
The food is always amazing at Lupo but last night was a reminder of how great service is this restaurant s special touch.
AMAZING FOOD ! Damn the meat balls were good , service was incredible, Giovanna was very helpful.. we went for my wife s birthday, and she made it special experience, with amazing food she gave us good tips about our upcoming Italy trip .. Definitely going back and recommend it to others Food
Celebrated my sisters birthday at Lupos. Everything was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere, the food, the service... just WOW!
This will have to be one of my favourite restaurants in YVR! Delicious food, good location, excellent customer service!
Loved everything about this place. Focaccia bread was just amazing!! I highly recommend their breads and pasta. Super tasty. the restaurant is cozy and vintage.
Amazing flavour high quality food quick service non intrusive staff which is the best to have a calm dinner really overall a great experience will be certainly visiting again best part parking was easy and available
Great restaurant, amazing food. Fantastic atmosphere.
Extremely Disappointing and Unsafe Dining Experience I ordered a shrimp pasta and while eating, I found a curled metal wire in my food. The waiter took it away and told me they would remake the dish, but when he returned, he claimed it was a shrimp leg. Clearly, it was not. When I asked to see the wire again, he came back after some time and said it had already been disposed of, insisting on making me a new dish. For safety reasons, I asked to change my pasta from black to white. After waiting about 10 more minutes, the new pasta arrived, but it was undercooked. Frustrated, I decided to just eat the shrimp, but to my shock, I found another curled, spring-like wire sticking out of the shrimp, and it was even wobbling when I lifted it. I showed it to the staff, who seemed surprised and immediately took the dish away again. Later, two employees came out and vaguely blamed the supplier for the issue, but they offered no real explanation or solution. By this point, it was already 9 p.m. on a Sunday night, and I had eaten nothing. I left the restaurant disappointed and hungry, feeling like I could no longer trust the food or the establishment. What worries me the most is that this could have been much worse. If I hadn t noticed the wire and swallowed it, the consequences could have been serious. I also couldn t stop thinking about the families dining there if a child or an elderly person had eaten the wire, it could have been disastrous. If you decide to visit this place, please be extremely cautious.
Great food in what felt an unusual venue
Took my son to Vancouver to see Weezer (which was awesome:) and he wanted a delicious Italian meal. Lupo is the oldest and fanciest Italian restaurant, so naturally we had to check it out. It s beautiful, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is top notch! I especially loved the Ris+Bis . Whisky sour was perfect as well!
I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary there, especially since it was our first big outing with our 4-month-old baby. When I made the reservation, I even left a note explaining that we d be bringing a stroller. Everything seemed fine until just two hours before our reservation, when they suddenly called to tell us that we couldn t bring the stroller because they didn t have enough space for it. They offered absolutely no alternatives or solutions, leaving us completely stuck at the last minute. This lack of consideration and poor communication ruined what should have been a special occasion for us.
Had pasta and wine here and it was delightful.
What a superb experience!! When we arrived, we did not have a reservation (dont do this) but we were lucky and seated right away. Our waiter was one of the most professional and knowledgeable weve ever had. He guided us through an excellent dining experience we will continue to cherish. From the freshly baked bread to the salad, main course and desert was a very memorable and tasty adventure. We also found their wine selection to be top notch! We were able to get wine here we have not been able to find in many other high end restaurants. This is one of the top ten restaurants in the city. Dont miss it.
Service is not good not bad. Pasta too salty. I wouldn t come back.
Enjoyed my birthday here. Some of the best food I ve ever had in my life, exceptional service and great place overall. Been to many restaurants, this is at the top of my list. Highly recommend!
Best Italian place in town.
We had a wonderful dinner here. We started with the focaccia which was freshly made, warm from the oven and delicious. The foie gras parfait was so very tasty and beautifully presented. The rigatoni with duck was terrific. As was the fettuccine.
Enjoyed my time here. The team was courteous and the service efficient, though a bit slow in parts.
We had not been to Lupo for years. We had a lovely evening with great food, wonderful atmosphere, and one of the best experiences ever with Matt, our server. We travel alot, we eat out alot, and he made our night! Attentive, but not intrusive, a great sense of humour, and not pretentious in the least. We will go back because if him
My family and I had the pleasure of dinning at Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca last night with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. Being Italian, I am very particular about my food (especially Italian food), but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion sizes at Lupo. Even more appealing was the encouragement to dine in Family-style (like we do in Italy) where food is bought out and placed in the center of the table for all to enjoy and share. The atmosphere was also quaint and inviting...Like visiting Nona at home. The food at Lupo was AMAZING! Everything was fresh and the ingredients flavours really came through. The food was only second to the service, as Tori not only knew her menu (inside-&-out), but had an extensive knowledge of all of Lupos drink offerings (even their enormous wine list...And I mean ENORMOUS!). If you choose to dine at Lupo, consider asking for Tori by name, as she encompasses what dining hospitality should be, but rarely is. All-in-all I highly recommend Lupo to anyone needing a break from the hustle-&-bustle of daily life and just wanting a relaxing night out with good food, in a friendly environment, with staff that will make you feel like you matter. Dietary restrictions: For those with a Gluten intolerance, they offer a Gluten-Free pasta option.
The food is very delicious. The service was good, the place was small and noisy because of the people at the next table.
Highly highly recommend and will definitely be returning next time we re in Vancouver! Absolutely loved our server Tori- friendly, warm and funny too, by a long shot our favourite server we ve had in Vancouver :)
Went here for the first time after living steps away for years. Food was INCREDIBLE. Julia, our server, was amazing. She was really great!!!
We love Italian food and booked a table specifically to treat ourselves for a birthday. The beef carpaccio, octopus mosaic, and pasta with seafood were delicious. The lamb shank was good, but the risi e bisi was inedible. I thought because I mentioned in advance that it was a birthday dinner, there would be a complimentary piece of cake, but it was offered at an additional price. With cocktails, we paid a bit over $200. There was plenty of food; the portions (pastas and secondi) are big, so you might want to share. Overall, it was an okay experience. All evening, one importunate fly kept hitting the window near our table. It was funny and annoying at the same time because you expect a bit more from fancy dining.
Second time visit Lupo. Atmosphere and service are great. Food is also above average. Love how the restaurant provides a less commercial feel, instead we feel we are having a nice meal in someone s house.
I love this restaurant. It s a restaurant thats been designed into a repurposed home so it has a unique atmosphere. My boyfriend and I have spent 2 anniversaries here and we love it every time! The servers are respectful, efficient, and knowledgeable. The food is absolutely delicious, you can t really go wrong with anything on their menu. Their wine is also some of the best wine I ve had!
Amazing food, servers and hosts were super friendly. Lovely building, seems like it could be an old house turned into a fine dining restaurant.
I would call this a hidden gem! The food was so delicious we went back in 2 days. Don t miss visiting this restaurant if you are in Vancouver. Kudos to the chef and the very professional staff.
The service atmosphere is good, but the price is really not proportional to the food. I ordered todays special dish, truffle pasta, expecting something different. However, it turned out to be white noodles with only a few thin slices of truffle. I couldnt believe it was from a high-end restaurant.
First time to Lupo and it was great. We celebrated our anniversary there. Service was great! I recommend the beef carpaccio for sure.
The service was amazing! Definitely happy we went once, but not somewhere where Id go again. The food was not worth the price we paid. The ingredients are definitely rich, and it is an expensive plate of food, so I understand the cost to cost factor. But the taste doesnt reflect the price. For example - the Cesar salad only had 6 month aged Parmesan cheese. I presumed an Italian restaurant would have served atleast a 40 year aged Parmesan.
Friendly staff, but the wait times were longer than expected.
It was just okay. Nothing special. Probably wouldnt go again. Food was meh, service was alright... it was just ok.
Phenomenal! Food, service, ambience!
There are lots of great reviews for Lupo but I personally dont rate it highly. Im glad that we tried it but I wont be going back. Food - We may have had a dud order. The lamb shank and risotto were OK, and the rest of our pasta dishes we just...ok. They were nothing to write home about, particularly given the high price. Speaking of which, the wine list was eye wateringly expensive. Service - Pretty good. Atmosphere - Lacking in my opinion. A fairly drab and grey set up; you could be in any average restaurant anywhere in the world.
A great Italian restaurant that s really hidden away. Beautiful restaurant and delicious Italian food.
Had the black truffle fettuccine, somehow ended up with stomach cramps and diarrhea that night after the meal. Also had the halibut but that was fine. Seems like they don t like Asian folk as we were the only table not getting any kind of service as far as the waiter coming to greet and check up on . Literally every single table around us had the waiter check up and make small talk(all happened to be white) except us. Would I recommend this place to anyone else? Not when there are so many better choices around
Wonderful dining experience. Delicious food. Attentive staff and host. Great for a date night or special occasion
Food was good. Service was friendly.
Great food, fantastic staff and a really cute spot. We came here after an event and couldn t figure out where to eat at first. It was a really cosy and lovely spot. The food was amazing, and we had a nice long dinner here.
Super cozy with absolutely delicious food.
Delightful Italian restaurant. My seafood pasta was rich and delicious. Menu is limited, but they have a few off menu options to consider. Disappointed I couldnt get a soft drink to quench my thirst. Kid-friendliness: Not at all Wheelchair accessibility: No, steep stairs leading up to the entrance.
Terrible service, everyone working here seems not happy, the worst experience we ever have in the town
Was excited to come here for the first time to celebrate our third year wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we left underwhelmed. Our waitress was new so couldn t confidently give food recommendations but did her best, and did suggest a nice wine pairing. I asked about the burrata appetizer special and then said we d have the meatballs instead. However, we then placed our order for the mains and the appetizer never came. When I brought it up, she was adamant that I hadn t ordered any appetizer (I confirmed with my husband that he heard me do so). No apology or acknowledgment that she could possibly be wrong. Our mains were both very tasty- I had the gnocchi and my husband had the fettuccine. The tiramisu and crème brûlée were both also delicious- one of the best crème brûlée I ve had. Overall, the food was good but I was so disappointed by the appetizer miscommunication that it kind of ruined the rest of the experience. To top it all off, they don t do anything to acknowledge or celebrate it being a special occasion which I found very odd considering when you make a reservation, they specifically ask if you re dining there for a special occasion. Why ask if you don t actually do anything to acknowledge/celebrate that? A complimentary dessert or glass of bubbly would have gone a long ways. We will not likely be back.
Heard about the place, it has been in Vancouver forever. I had lamb , the food was fresh but not seasoned ! Also there was something really bitter in my warm goat salad, however I enjoyed the mix of beats and warm goat cheeses and at the end I don t know what makes the food in Lopu so expensive !
We wanted to have a memorable dinner with a dear old friend from Montreal whom we see but once a year. The dinner was ruined by the fact that we could not her each other speak Food
Lupo has always been a treat and next time in Vancouver well definitely go again
We made a reservation but waited 15 minutes, and the restaurant was a bit loud in the evening, the food was fine except for the salad.
Wonderful restaurant. Service impeccable. Food amazing.
Everything was awesome!
Deeply disappointed! We visited the restaurant this Saturday and I must say I was less than thrilled with our experience. The 2 pasta dishes we ordered were overpowered by the intense amount of garlic and overly oily. 3 of us did not finish our plates. The service was below expectations as we had to ask for or server a couple of times. Paid about $600 and only one person liked their dish. Seafood pasta and the mushroom pasta were extremely oily and overpowered with garlic. Its quite unfortunate, I have been here before but this was a terrible experience I dont think I can justify coming back at this point. Dessert was delicious!
Excellent ! Will be back soon
3.5/5. Food not bad but not memorable and very expensive. Seemed short staffed when we visited and service was extremely slow. Would not recommend if you are hoping to have conversations at the table as it was extremely loud (likely due to the type of wall/flooring material).
Ok quality and service. Overpriced!
The restaurant and service are great. The food is good, but for the price, I would say it is overpriced. Our table hosts provided us with great wine and grappa. Ask for suggestions!
Too crowded The meal wasnt as good as expected I liked the wine brusheta and meat balls 3 people in hour and half $350 Parking: Cross the street
We had a reservation for an early valentines dinner the day before. The overall experience was excelent, from the welcoming entrance to the cozy beautiful interior. We ordered the wagyu beef carpaccio to start; which was fresh, bright and exactly what I wanted. The lamb shank with risi+bisi was beautifully done, fat rendered perfectly; not over or dry in the slightest. The hints of lemon in the risi bisi paired with the lamb wonderfully, also plating was classic and clean with clear attention to detail. We also had a seafood taglierini dish that was shocklingly fresh and a heaping portion. Was honestly shocked how big this plate was, she loved it. Service was prompt and delightful, had a wonderful dinner we will be back!
The seafood in the pasta was subpar for the price, especially the prawns and shrimp. Decent service!
We have been to this restaurant about 5-6 times and have had a lovely experience each time. The food is top quality and delicious. Great service and great wine selection. One of the best Whisky Sours I have had. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. The service was the BEST Ive ever had. The server was very funny and personable but yet not too much. He was always distantly attentive and ready to be at our service when needed. We were not rushed, our party had a nice private corner and the atmosphere was beautiful. A very memorable experience. And food was delicious!! Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for anaphylaxis issues.
Great service and ambience! The truffle fettuccine is still dream about
Excellent service and lovely food. Get a good bottle of wine and enjoy yourself.
I loved the cozy vibe of this place, it is situated in a victorian era home and the ambience was very nice. The food here is pretty good, probably not the best Italian I ve had in this city, but good enough that I would come back. The texture of the pasta was firm, but could have been a little more al dente and I found that there was a bit too much pasta in relation to the sauce. Their bread was recommend, but I personally did not find it to be that great and the flavour of the salad was a bit too unique for me, like it is a bunch of random ingredients thrown together that made it look special but did not compliment well. The dessert was absolutely delicious though, that I would come back for. Overall, a nice experience and our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.
Ist time trying this restaurant what an amazing experience from the wonderful service to the amazing and creative food I never experienced such delishous dishes I definately recommend this restaurant.
Great food and superb wine list. Service is great and it was all around a wonderful experience. A definite repeat
We were first time visitors on New Years Eve with friends who frequent this restaurant. What a wonderful experience! From the moment you walk in the door it is welcoming, warm, and friendly. The service was superb and all of our meals were outstanding! We will be back and highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!
Lupo has been in my bucket list for a while and we finally visited, but honestly the design was so disappointing!! I was hoping to see a more vintage/unique that goes with the building which is an old beautiful house! The food was amazing we had salad and pasta, both were great! The service also could be better!
Nice restaurant for a date.
Fantastic meal of burrata salad, foie gras, carpaccio, amatriciana with guanciale, squid ink linguini, veal chop and sable fish! Portions were shockingly big. All cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.
Cold draft in dining area whenever the door opened. Very courteous service. Took a while for them to come by to our table.
Conveniently located just south of Queen Elizabeth theatre. Warm and cozy atmosphere for a birthday dinner. Our server, Jeff was very friendly and efficient. He told us the specials, made some recommendations and was attentive but not overbearing. We split a caprese salad, freshly baked focaccia and Spaghettini Alla Amatriciana.... SO delicious. Highly recommend this place!
Had the fresh truffle pasta with the dulche de leche crème brûlée. Servers were attentive and polite. Intimate, romantic atmosphere
The pasta was tasty, however clearly inauthentic. Portions were HUGE and flavourful, however the presentation was lacking (feels like I was just given a heaping pile of food). The chicken was not tender, it was clearly overcooked. I did not enjoy the focaccia. The beet salad with goat cheese was alright, but I would never think about it again. The atmosphere of the restaurant was a bit stuffy and serious; I wouldnt return.
The food is super delish but the servings are massive. Recommend that you eat here family style and share a few plates.
Celebrated our 30th anniversary here and couldnt have been a better place. 5 stars for food, service and atmosphere hands down.
Delicious Italian style food, I had a fantastic octopus and tuna starter, followed by a seafood black tagliatelle, my companions also loved their non-seafood dishes a gnocchi bolognese and a chicken dish. Thoroughly recommend.
We came with a table of 6 last minute, even though the host assured us there was not a table for our party, the sweet owner was able to accomodate for us and we got seated right away. Amazing customer service and food was brilliant! The Gnocchi and the clam pasta were my favorite with the pesto not far behind!
Our favorite Restaurant in Vancouver! The moment you walk through the doors you know its going to be a memorable evening. From the friendly staff who always remembers us to the historical charm of the older house the Restaurant sits in. You will find yourself drifting into a small town in Italy with food prepared in that old Italian way. Prices are more than reasonable and the staff are incredibly personable and attentive to all your needs. Thank you Michael you have gem of a restaurant.
The service here was friendly and uplifting. The food was delicious as well as it was all cooked to perfection and included wonderful vibrant flavors. One of the feature fettuccini however included too much butter.. but other than that there are no complaints. The beautiful little house this restaurant is in makes the experience that much more worth it!
The food and service were great! I got the wild-mushroom pasta and it was really flavorful. My friends got the lobster pasta and they said it was really good as well!
I loved the interior design of this place but the food itself was meh? Definitely not worth the $120 bucks I spent on just two dishes and two lemonades, too bland, portions were rather small. Wouldn t bother with it, been to Italy, Italian food isn t like this.
Very good food with friendly service, wish I would have discovered this restaurant sooner.
Ive been to Lupo several times now and the food is always fantastic. Ambience is great as well. Its situated inside a townhome and I find it so cute. Theres a lot of stairs though. The wagyu carpaccio was delicious and well portioned. Just the right amount of flavour too as sometimes it can be overseasoned/dressed up. The focaccia was like a little pizza with zucchini, tomatoes and cheese. I ordered the beef cheek rigatoni, which was their special for the night. Incredibly tender beef that would just fall apart in your mouth. The fettucine was also great but not as memorable. Ive had their creme brulee and orange cake (?) on a different occasion and they were up to the same standard as the rest of the dishes. Unfortunately theres nothing that makes this place extremely memorable for me. Everything tastes good but nothing is so unique and well done that I have to come back to Lupo for it. Still a solid restaurant and one I would recommend to friends but not a must try in my opinion. There was no magic. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pasta
Celebrated my daughters birthday here and absolutely loved it. We had Matt serve us and, hands down, he was just the best server Ive had in a long time. Food was great quality. Will definitely be back.
Awesome place to have dinner with your loved ones highly recommended
A cozy little restaurant set inside a historic house. Service was fantastic, servers were very friendly and prompt. We ordered the wagyu beef carpaccio, taglierini pasta and the spaghettini pesto pasta. I was disappointed with my taglierini pasta as it was very bland. The pesto pasta was okay. Pasta portions were a nice size but also pricey. We also ordered the almond cake and tiramisu which were both good. I won t be back anytime soon but would give it another try.
Always great food, great service!
I had a great evening at Lupo thanks to our server Cristina and the great food. The food was well presented, well seasoned and delicious. The wine menu was very good with a wide range of selection of local and international wines. The pasta was super greasy with lots of oil left on my plate after I finished my pasta. The restaurant is very romantic, but there is no privacy as tables are very close to each other.
Super cozy ... Gourmet
We had a wonderful dining experience as the food, particularly the pasta and steak, was excellent. The waitress provided courteous and helpful service throughout our meal. Despite the limited seating area, the tables were arranged in a manner that did not make us feel uncomfortable. Additionally, the washroom was clean and well-maintained.
Came in for dinner. First time here. Nice cozy place. Friendly staff and kept checking in to make sure we were good. Food was amazing. Great job with the cocktails as well.
Amazing
Where to start The waitress was not attending at all The food was meh And the cream brule was awful!!! Probably there worst I ever had! It was brown inside and tasted like egg so much! Dont waste your money and time here
Fantastic restaurant. Great food and service.
Pretty good experience with my friend. The environment is very romantic and food is delicious and service is very good
We stopped in here for a quick dinner. The atmosphere was calm and fancy. We had the opportunity to sit by a window which was great. The menu was small but really well curated. We ordered the fettuccini and wild mushroom tagliarini; both were quite tasty. Our food came quickly and the staff was friendly / checked in on us lots. It is a more pricy location to eat so I am not sure if I d go back, but it was delicious.
Excellent food and service. Very highly recommended with an incredible server and we loved the Nero pasta and prosciutto. Delicious wine too!
bread was tasty.
Pasta here was pretty good. I ordered the fettuccine and I was surprised with how big the portion was. We also ordered the taglierini which was also quite substantial and tasty. The desserts were great, the almond cake wasnt too sweet and had a lightness to it. The creme brulee was smooth and the bitterness of the hardened sugar on top complimented well with the sweetness of the custard. Service was decent, and the fact that the restaurant is in a heritage house, definitely makes for an interesting experience. A little bit on the pricey side, but a good place to go for a special occasion.
Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance requires walking up stairs. Not sure if theres a wheelchair accessible back entrance. Food
The service is very good, the chicken pasta is the best, the foie gras is average
Wonderful food and great wine selection. Will definitely be back.
Nice restaurant and was our first visit. The chicken was amazing and so was our service. The pasta wasnt as good as the price tag though. I guess I have high expectations but if you are paying over $30 a plate and the pasta mentions chilli. Then I should not ask for chilli.
Service was good but they ask you to put in a special reason you are there and then said nothing about it. Like we dont go to expensive restaurants a ton and it was a special night for us and they asked us during the reso process but didnt even acknowledge. The rib eye was grossly.
Excellent food great ambiance. Very unique location as it sit in a renovated home in downtown Vancouver.
Absolutely phenomenal experience! We are from Florida, and traveled a long way. To have the kind of experience we had from the initial greeting to service to the actual food was incredible. My daughter graduated from University this past weekend and I felt like they are part of our extended family now! Five s
Awesome food. Even better service
Delicious meal in intimate atmosphere with great service.
Very good restaurant. We recommend their very fine and delicious cuisine
During a tourist trip to Alaska, we made a quick stop in Vancouver. Besides the fact that this city in British Columbia has a certain charm that is worth making a stop, we discovered this Italian restaurant whose menu, although contained, offers certain wonders capable of awakening our taste buds. Personally I tasted the taglirioni and what a divine dish. Just spiced just right, served in more than reasonable quantities and above all cooked with impressive know-how. This restaurant deserves a pleasure stop and just a little compliment to our French host Chloé who combined charm, smile and professionalism. I loved it without restraint. Vegetarian options: Several dishes are offered
Everything was just great
Excellent. Best Italian in the city. The lamb shank is incredible
A wonderful dinner for two! Full of flavors and colors, delicately cooked and very well spiced. The team is very friendly and attentive in a cozy setting. a special mention to our waitress Chloé. We highly recommend.
Amazing
My husband and I had an excellent dinner at Lupo. The food was amazing! Very fresh and authentic. The restaurant ships quality ingredients directly from Italy. Also, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is cozy and intimate. Highly recommend for an authentic and quality Italian experience. Recommendation: Burrata Salad and Octopus Carpaccio.
Awesome ambience, awesome service, awesome food!
We go at least once a year and have nothing but good things to say. My usual order is the truffle fettuccini with chicken. The place is very cozy, though you may have trouble finding parking (its downtown, its to be expected). Service is always friendly. If you want simple, consistent food that tastes good, definitely give this place a try.
Consistently amazing through the years!
Amazing experience. Took my parents here and they prefer quieter places. This was the best dining experience we have had in Vancouver to date. The service was 10/10 and the food as well!
Amazing food and Jeff was such a great server!
Great intimate dinner spot. Good selection of wine, they had a special burrowing owl + lupo wine which was really good. Which was good. Had the special burrata which was nice and refreshing. The special black olive truffle was yummy but the gnocchi bolognese was delicious. They have good portion sizes for the price! I would come again and forgot to mention that they have great service. Tiramisu was good!
Fantastic food, really awesome atmosphere. Staff super friendly. Only suggestion for Lupo is to add to menu when a dish is spicy so people know. Food
Enjoyed a fantastic meal here on our last night in vancouver and Canada
Absolutely fabulous. Best food I have had in a while. The meat and fish was perfect, but the stand out was the quality of the vegetables and other fixings. Highly recommended.
Loved the service, atmosphere and the main courses were delicious. Got 2 salads to share between 4 people to start and they didn t taste great nor were they enough for one person to have as an appetizer. Other than that it was a great experience!
Our dinner was amazing! Fettuccine was so delicious Also, I love the ambience at the restaurant. Highly recommend visiting!
Delicious food and. Great service in a quaint part of downtown Vancouver. Upscale dining at its finest.
Another day, another Italian Restaurant. Browsing through numerous restaurant candidates, I came upon Lupo, a heritage house restaurant offside to my usual Robson area, right by the Vancouver Public Library. One of the things that struck me about the place was the fact that their menu is shockingly small. Each course from their Antipasti to their Primi to their Secondi boast not more than six options per heading, so Im guessing that they curated the best of the best. I was intrigued because, in my mind, that meant they had really perfected these dishes and wanted to showcase their culinary prowress with the thoughtful handling of select dishes, so I was expecting a stellar meal. I dont think Ive ever had the pleasure of dining in a heritage house, so there was already an air of charm surrounding the evening as we walked up the steps. I was immediately struck by the eclectic decor, an odd mix of wine bottles, photographic prints, abstract paintings, unusual lighting, and segmented ombre metallics. Im not sure it necessarily all worked together, but it was definitely eye~catching. The food was simply fantastic. We started with the popular Focaccia Bread, a puffed vegetarian wonder which, if you didnt know any better, would think was a miniature pizza. My girlfriend had the Octopus Mosaic, which was a work of art, and I had the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, which had a lot of reggiano shavings. Both were delicious. Mains consisted of the Taglierini and Fettucine, where the portions were more than generous. My only complaint about my Fettuccine was that there were way too many peas, otherwise, both pastas were al dente and very flavorful. Im happy to say that all the reviews about Lupo were correct, as it was one of the best Italian Restaurants Ive been to in a while, and I would definitely go back. Service was attentive and professional, so you really couldnt ask for more. There are plenty of Italian eateries downtown, but you can say Arrivederci to them all. Lupo stands out as one of the places you need to visit if you want authentic and tasty Italian food. Make a reservation, you wont be disappointed.
Great service, great food. Will definitely come back.
Life changing dinner here! First the service was amazing (thanks Jeff!) we shared the gnocchi, seafood ravioli and truffle fettuccine. All were amazing but the fettuccine stole the show. Desserts we shared the crème brûlée, almond cake and tiramisu. Would 100% recommend and will be back myself possibly as soon as tonight!
Loved it!!! The food is amazing spc. We had pasta and truffle and veal. Dessert cream brule and beef carpaccio. Def will come back.
Some of the best food weve ever had... and of course excellent service...
A little nice restaurant. The food is amazing and the wine is tasty, good prices and perfect for a romantic date
Came here with out-of-town colleagues for a nice dinner and the service, good, and ambiance did not disappoint. Bring houses within a lo old heritage building the table spaces are broken up into medium to large sized rooms with small tables (~6 people). Our server was very attentive and provided great input into our food choices. Had the burrata, veal carpaccio, focaccia, Italian sausage rigatoni, tagliatelle, and pesto pasta. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service. We will definitely be back
Absolutely amazing. It is rare to see the care and love that goes into the food, considering Vancouver is near unaffordable with inflation out of control. The server was great, knew how to read the atmosphere, provided thoughtful recommendations and gave an overall positive experience. Focaccia: excellent, be warned that it is not your traditional focaccia youre expecting. Burrata: hands down, the best burrata in town. We order burrata everywhere we go but this is by far, the best burrata weve had. Seafood trio: I am always iffy when ordering seafood outside as they are typically overcooked and overpriced. The perfect charred aroma and seasoning throughout. Winner of this dish is definitely the shrimp and octopus. Chicken fettuccine: Ill be honest, I expected the typical fine dining portion size but this was wild. A single order was enough to feed 2 adults. Pasta was perfectly al-dente and the sauce coupled with peas, great pairing. Mushroom tagliatelle: the variety of mushrooms brings a symphony of flavours. Most places give you a little bit of mushroom as theyre pricey but this dish was loaded with mushrooms. The wife couldnt finish it so we had it for a late night snack and the taste was still great. Dessert: ice cream trio. I dont remember this being on the menu but the server recommended it. It was creme fraiche, coffee and vanilla. She read our mind as we were going to eat ice cream after this somewhere else! 100% recommend. It is not often in Vancouver where you feel like you got your moneys worth or feel the price was worth it. You can taste the care, love and attention that is put into the food. Oftentimes, I leave restaurants feeling like I now have a dent in my wallet and a barely full stomach. I will be back and I will make it a point to try out every single menu item! Thank you Lupo and Carmen for a fantastic dining experience!
Food here is consistently good and is always well presented. We love going here for a special night or when we feel like indulging a bit. The truffle fettuccine is probably the best thing, I have had there, however I would also recommend the octopus appetizer and the prosciutto wrapped chicken breast. One critique I would say is the service, our waitress had to be flagged down multiple times and the main course took long time to arrive. She was kind of attentive, but not really I would say she seemed like she was tired? Maybe didn t want to be there? Not sure. This was my 3rd time here and I will certainly return for the food, but will not expect any better service.
Intimate decor in a heritage house, but still very picturesque. Incredible Italian food thats both inventive yet traditional. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a new Italian joint with a romantic ambiance. Loved it.
The Taglierini was very good. The starters are too expensive Vegetarian options: Not so many. Only 2 good options for main course Food : 4/5 |
I ve been here twice now. The food has been excellent both times, but my most recent visit is one to remember. There was one particularly intoxicated customer who was being rather loud. Not something worth complaining about in its own right, but for an otherwise rather quiet restaurant, it was something of a nuisance. Later in the night though, she became particularly disruptive. I went to use one of the two single person washroom stalls, and while in there, someone (who I d soon find out was her) tried to get in. Of course, the door was locked. Instead of using the other, available bathroom stall though, she decided to loudly knock on the door to my stall. Despite me responding that it was occupied, she knocked louder a second time just 30 seconds later. And again, another 30 seconds after that, starts banging and kicking the door, while yelling at me to hurry up. She waited, at most, about 3-4 minutes for me to leave; again, there was also another stall available to use, which staff pointed out to her. Just to rub things in a bit more, she swore at me as I was exiting the stall. Now, this wasn t a great experience. When I returned to my table (which mind you, is on the main floor, while the bathroom is on the 2nd floor) and explained to my girlfriend what happened, she said she had heard the banging from downstairs and was wondering what it was, and had seen some staff head upstairs to see what was happening. Our waiter, Mo (apologies if I spelled that wrong) came over while we were discussing this and asked if everything was okay. I explained to him what had happened. Without hesitation, he apologizes and says he ll take care of it. He immediately goes over to the woman in question and speaks with her for a couple minutes. I don t know what exactly was said, but she was much quieter the rest of the night. Mo then came back to our table to apologize again and assure that the issue has been taken care of. Throughout the rest of the night, we received the best service I ve seen at a restaurant. And to be clear, Lupo has incredible service in any case; very friendly waiters who know how to read a room, when appropriate times to interrupt are, and regular check-ins that don t feel like too little or too much. But Mo took things to a whole other level. I m not exaggerating when I say that if we drank any of our water, it was immediately topped up. It felt like having a waiter who was personally assigned to our table alone. He continued to apologize a few more times throughout the night for the experience with the disruptive patron, and expressed that he hoped everything else was to our liking (and he cracked a few genuinely funny jokes throughout the night). He was always ahead of what was happening, and at no point in the night did I find myself wanting something I didn t have; any time something crossed my mind, like having a plate cleared or getting a dessert menu, Mo was already doing it. But the real shock of the night was getting the cheque. While I wouldn t have been surprised to see a small discount, or perhaps one dish voided, I never would ve expected what actually happened: he walked over with the bill for the table, $115 and it had been voided to $0. He did this with absolutely no fanfare. Simply put the bill down, apologized again for the experience with the disruptive patron, explained that they were covering the entire bill as an apology, and wished us a good night. I need to be very clear: I never asked for anything. All I did was explain what had happened. Mo took all the initiative in handling the patron, providing special care with our table service throughout the night, and having the bill covered. Mo, if you re reading this, take pride in your work - you re exceptional at it, as is the entire staff. The food was, unsurprisingly, fantastic, but the service I received is a benchmark I m not sure I ll ever see surpassed.
Outstanding food in a great, cozy setting. One of the best bolognese I ve ever had. Attentive service as well.
Excellent service, our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made some great suggestions. I enjoyed my birthday celebration here a lot!
Love this place! I always forget the Tagliatelle Nero is not *with* squid ink... but its still really good. Food : 5/5
My wife and I visited this restaurant for our anniversary, but our experience wasnt pleasant. We had made a reservation a week in advance and even confirmed our attendance one day before our visit, yet we were left waiting at the front desk for 25 minutes. It appeared that the restaurant didnt pay much attention to special requests either, which was disappointing, especially considering their inability to accommodate confirmed reservations. Yet, when we were seated, they offered us wine, which we suspected might have been in place of our special request, which was some small flowers. However, we had to turn it down since we dont drink. We also noticed some issues with ventilation and airflow in the restaurant. The main floor had a strong food odor, while upstairs was slightly better in that regard. However, both floors were extremely noisy, forcing us to shout just to hear each other. It seems that the concept of a heritage house isnt very suitable for accommodating large crowds, and this completely contradicted our expectation of a romantic dinner. On a positive note, the food was quite good. Its unfortunate that the potential of the talented chefs and servers might be better utilized elsewhere.
Excellent food, it was prepared with TLC. Service was attentive and impeccable. A memorable evening indeed
One of my favorite Italian restaurants. The environment is cozy and the staff are wonderful
Home atmosphere beside fireplace. A waiter who understands hospitality and service. Fast but not rushed. My dish was standard. A little pricey.
First time here and went for an Anniversary dinner. Arrival went without hiccups as resos were made. Seated and our Server, tall Caucasian bald headed male server came and from there it just went downwards. Service was horrendous by this male. We had water served once throughout the whole 1 hour we were there. I had to literally call for a server everytime I needed something since ours would walk by a table and not even ask. On one of the photos i left my empty glass for water at the edge for over 10 minutes before I took a photo of it. My partner suggested our server was racist but I cannot prove this so i wont go there. This kept going until I got sick of this service and asked for my bill. Server came and slapped the $163 bill on the table and walked away. This is why you shouldnt tip 18% automatically, bad service means bad tips. I rounded it up to $175 even though he didnt deserve a penny for that service but the girl seating us was nice and even wished us a happy anniversary before i walked out. I will never go back there again and wont recommend to anyone. The only thing good was the pasta we had which was well made but its basically a shrimp pasta with small amount of lobster for $49 per plate.
MO is a God
Amazing truffle fettuccine, very flavorful and not too oily. Meatballs were tender and flavorful but not worth the price. The ambience was really unique as it was obviously a house formerly. Service was quick and attentive, overall a great experience. My only knock was the antipasti dishes were too expensive for what they offered.
I think food used to be better and now it s not worth the price. Special menu was mediocre and starter had no taste. Dessert was good. Service was too mechanic and rushed
It is our second time in this place. And this time the experience was much worse. The food was average, and considering the price not good at all. The servant was unpleasant like he was doing a favour by serving us dinner. And lastly, the food poisoning was not expected considering the rates here :(
The chicken fettuccine was AMAZING! We really liked the burrata cheese but the portion was too small! The lamb shank was really tasty but the focaccia bread was just average! I ve had better focaccias! Our server, Carmen, was very nice and provided a great service!
Amazing service, food was just as delicious. Didnt break the bank like I thought it would. Will be back
Another great meal and experience at this establishment! It has become our go to place when in Vancouver. Great food , great staff! We were five for dinner and we were there for a 60th birthday dinner and all were very satisfied. A great wine selection, a fantastic menu and we sat for hours having fun with no one pressuring us to leave. We will be back again for sure!
The food was astounding. Perfect Italian fare, with an excellent wine list. The melt-in-your mouth burrata salad (best in town, I d say) and the scrumptious wagyu beef ravioli - a thousand wows! And then the tiramisu was one of the best I ve had. The service was even better than the food, which is saying something. There was a party of 8 next to us who were having a very good, and very loud, time. We didn t complain, but it was clear that the noise detracted from our experience. So Brad our server saw to it that we got a generous discount. This was unexpected, and so thoughtful. Because of this, we will be back regularly.
It was great. Atmosphere, food, service, everything was fabulous.
The obituary for fine dining was written too soon! Everyone at my table had the halibut and nobody had regrets.
Great service and even better pasta. Portions are bigger than expected!
Our server Jeff tonight was amazing to my family of 8! Incredible service, delicious food. He really knew the menu by heart and gave us the best recommendations! If you come here, request Jeff !!
Spectacular service
Exceptional service, a warm and sophisticated atmosphere, and most importantly, delicious food. Every bite was a delight. Highly recommended for a special night out.
Great all around. High end but no surprise, and its fantastic
I didnt know about this restaurant until it was recommended to me. It is undeniably the BEST service myself and my parents have ever had. I bought a tasting menu for my fathers birthday, so I did not have the pleasure of dining here. However, every interaction with the staff, especially Michael / Mike, was incredibly pleasant, easy, and accommodating. My parents were treated exceptionally well and raved about the food. They look forward to sharing this experience with their friends. I highly HIGHLY recommend Lupo.
Cute little spot. Way overpriced. Almost 40 dollars for a pasta dish..
Held a department Christmas party here - wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Thank you to Michael for helping us arrange the event.
Very thoughtful staff interested in your experience. Delicious food, good drinks, a wonderful meal. Would highly recommend and be back!
Service is great. The octopus appy is VERY disappointing. Tastes like nothing. The pasta was so delicious tho. The seafood nero is 10/10. Food
