Italian/ Mediterranean food, anchored to tradition but projected in the 21st century( tradition and evolution ) proudly Italian / Canadian . We are focused on classic and innovative techniques, keeping vigil eye to the ingredients and local producers and suppliers. Definitely Lee’s is more type of philosophy, respect for the ingredients that mother land gives us.
Absolutely delicious! Great service and beautiful venue. Old fashioned - well made, smooth and nicely flavoured with bitters. Uni pasta - this was their seasonal special. Impressive mix of citrus and uni flavours with a nice creamy texture. Dessert - full disclosure: forgot the name. It was a chocolate mousse main with a coffee bean accent.
We visited this authentic restaurant about a month ago and were thoroughly impressed with every course, from appetizers to dessert. For starters, we enjoyed the beet salad, Caprese, and calamari—all of which were absolutely amazing and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I ordered the lamb chops, while my husband chose the steak. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with tender, juicy meat that exceeded our expectations. To round off our meal, we indulged in the Tiramisù and chocolate cake. Each dessert was rich, decadent, and the perfect ending to a memorable dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful photographs adorning the walls that added to the charm of the space. We can’t wait to return for another exceptional meal!
The duck haunts my food dreams. It was rare and cooked to perfection I could have had 3 orders of duck and been happy. The scallops with white truffle were so perfect as an appetizer. We also had the duck Rafi lasagna as a shared dish and the kitchen was able to make this a shareable dish for us. The all the meals I could and would have had here
Service was phenomenal, Chef Pino was very friendly and great with food allergies. Was not the hugest fan of the set menu and I expected higher quality and quantity food for the exorbitant price tag. Nice to experience this Vancouver staple prior to its closing though.
One of my favorite restaurants in town! Always good food and service with extensive wine list. Only on special occasions for me tho (or corporate dinner, which they do a lot), as it’s a bit pricy.
WOW what an experience!! Came here for a friend’s birthday and we all had a blast from the start to finish. The service is absolutely top notch, we were instantly greeted and seated by the host, everyone smiled at me when I walk in the room, our server was funny and made good suggestions, the owner came out to ask how the food was which felt personal and welcoming, everyone served us was attentive and friendly, they even offer to divide the food for you, have not experienced service like this in a very very long time. This is the standard Vancouver restaurants should look up to when they ask for minimum 18% tips. I must add that their machine doesn’t have fixed percentage, it gives you the option to select either amount or percentage then enter the number as you see fit. This is very rare especially considering it’s fine dining, it is definitely a bonus when the tip culture nowadays is out of control. With that being said, for their excellent service and food, everyone including myself is more than happy to tip generously. Now the food, the BEST pasta I’ve ever had. The sauce, the texture of the noodles, the portion of the meat, everything in one bite is perfection. We shared the pacific octopus as appetizer, the sauce was unique and surprisingly good, the octopus was very tender. The lamb rack we shared was already separated by the chef when served, initially I was skeptical to get a medium rare cooked lamb but it turned out to be so tender and juicy. The cocktails and desserts were super delicious as well. I would like to come back to try more dishes before they close down 😋
We had a nice dining experience at Cioppino’s. Friendly staff and really good food. They have an extensive wine list that’s a treat to read. The uni pasta hit the spot.
My wife and I visited Cioppino’s for dinner last night, and had a wonderful experience. Our server Mike, was fantastic. We had a couple specials and a couple dishes from the menu, and it was all delicious. Classic Italian dishes made with quality products and technique - the simplicity of the ingredients really shines through. Highly recommend!
Hokkaido Scallops and lobster Risotto are the best! The food is great.
Flawless. Magnificent. Sad to see it go. From the appetizers of burrata from Pugila and hamachi and simple delicious of the ceaser salad to the melt in your mouth gnocchi and flavorful paparedelle, everything is made to perfection. They nail entrees like the duck, Tucson steak and sablefish. Chef Pinot and his team set the the standard for fine dining and Italian food in Vancouver. It is an absolute shame to see them close.
We re heartbroken to have discovered this gem too late, especially since we ve heard it will be closing soon. The food was absolutely to die for, and our server was a total sweetheart. Still thinking about the burrata from Puglia with two eggplants textures.
It was nice. Food was good.
Love this place! Some of the absolute best Italian food I have ever had High fancy and worth the price. Everything was really really good. The Bolognese was perfect - rich, meaty, fresh noodles, great Parmesan added. The Duck Lasagna was like a savoury pulled pork with lots of rich tomato sauce (and I love everything about that). The veal scaloppini with mushrooms was so moist and savoury. Umami galore. It came with a bit of mashed potatoes and broccoli on the side which was nice too. They give you really nice crusty house bread with a chickpea dip to start. I asked for balsamic vinegar and olive oil too and they brought that as well. Recommend the Tiramisu and melted heart chocolate cake for dessert. The tiramisu comes with a delicious coffee foam and dark chocolate sorbet - yum! Next time I hope to try the off-menu chocolate soufflé. The cocktail list is beautiful and my cocktail was fantastic They also have my steadfast Coca Cola in a can Tons of staff everywhere and all of them are super nice, super charming, and super attentive.
Great service, great food. Some dishes were much better than others. I rank the ones I had as 1) Eggplant with Burrata 2) Tiramisu 2) Lobster Pasta 4) Carbonara Risotto 5) Gnocchi Cacio e pepe. Expensive though - $100pp.
thanks to the chef so sorry you are closing down soon
Had an amazing dinner in one of their private rooms. Filet Mignon was the best Id ever had. Service was top notch. Again overall one of the best restaurants for an amazing dinning experience. Definately going back in a couple of weeks to share this with friends. You will not be disappointed one bit. 10/10.
Great pasta.
Had a great dining experience, food was next level.
The best always
Do yourself a favour, book a table if you can, and order Pino s tasting menu. Being served by Pino himself was an experience that made our night unforgettable. This landmark of a restaurant deserves every accolade and more.
My first experience at Cioppino s this evening - two months before they close for good, so better late than never! Our group of 8 struggled to make decisions with the menu and thankfully our fantastic server, John Paulo (sorry if I botched the spelling!), took over and created a testing menu for us. He asked what we liked or disliked and chose four appetizers, four pastas and three main courses for us to enjoy family style. Each item was flavourful and different from the others chosen! The favourites were the calamari, the gnocchi, and the halibut. Sommelier Vincent chose three Italian wines (sorry Vincent - we should have chosen French!) to complement our meal and, although I didn t have any this evening, the group raved about the flavour and smoothness of each bottle. I m sorry to see Cioppino s close but I m grateful I had the opportunity to try it once! I hope John Paulo and Vincent find positions in 2025 at other restaurants where they are able to shine at what they do! Thank you for a most memorable evening.
Phenomenal food. Highly recommend
Nice atmosphere, great cuisine! Excellent food and good wines! We were here for lunch and can highly recommend this restaurant, even if it is a bit higher priced.
Love this place. Best Italian in town
Come here for an extraordinary dining experience. The food is flawless. But so is the service. Their standards for anticipating your needs is incomparable.
Great wine list . The pasta was 10/10 The smoked salmon was 10/10 Ive never tried lemon foam and it went great with the smoked salmon. A couple dishes were not amazing. Food : 4/5 |
I rarely use the word amazing, but we had amazing service and food at Cioppinos! We had a memorable dinner. I highly recommend.
Pasta lobster all the way, scallop, amazing, quick talk with Chef pino, would come back
We had an amazing meal here. The beef carpaccio was stunning g, as was the Caesar salad. The pasta was the best we have had in Vancover and if you like Tiramisu it is a must - stunning
Food taste okay, fine dining concept excellent service
Amazing
A shame to see this fine establishment closer its doors. The staff at every level had impeccable service and class, you always felt well cared for and looked after here. A moody room great for intimate dinners with knowledgeable staff and excellent quality on all dishes
I wish I could give more stars but wow! Thank you for the amazing service, hospitality and making my birthday special. I met the chef himself and the servers were outstanding. Had great wine, tuna and pasta! All were fantastic. Thank you 200 times.
I absolutely love eating here! Everything was perfect and my clients enjoyed every morsel! Pino made some great recommendations on our wine pairing as well
Great food and service. I was lucky to get the last table. The lamb rack was so good, tender and juicy. The curry sauce was amazing! I feel so sad that Chef Pino is going to retire. Best wishes to him.
The food was excellent, the pasta was incredible. The only criticism is the duck dish was a bit salty and the portions was a bit lacking. Otherwise everything was excellent
Wow! The chef really set the perfect mood by warmly greeting our table. The service was excellent, and our server was attentive throughout our meal. I highly recommend this amazing Michelin star restaurant!
Enjoyed a summer evening with a delicious Italian meal. Each dish was delicious. It will be sad to see this restaurant close later this year. If you get a chance to go, I highly suggest trying it.
Best service we have received from all of the restaurants we have been to. Drinks were made within minutes and made with freshly squeezed mixes. We ordered an appetizer soup and the servers brought two bowls for the soup to share without us even asking. Food was outstanding and it felt like we were in Italy. Tableside service was great, example: waiter de-shelled the lobster in the pasta right as it came landed in front of me. Multiple servers around through the dining experience. Our main server was a tall ginger bearded Italian waiter who helped us through the menu and selecting the plates for our meal. Many laughs and ambiance was great. We picked this restaurant from the Michelin guide and it blew us away. Looking forward to our next dinner here.
Vastly overrated. Writing this review as I wait and wait and wait. Food okay but not commensurate with price. Maybe just an off-day but kinda disappointed.
My go to special date night spot! I had the braised short rib for the first time this visit and it was so tender. Chef Pino checked on us mid dinner and servers were very attentive. This visit was extra special to us as it was our 10 year anniversary but also our first intimate marriage celebration. So sad that the restaurant is closing this year but will definitely hold a special memory for us. : (
Stale bread. Otherwise fantastic!
We had a fantastic time at Cioppino.
So glad we were able to get to Vancouvers Best Restaurant one more time before it closes. Chef Pino made us feel at home, easily making adjustments for allergies. Fresh Italian food done at top level.
This was my 2nd time dining at Cioppinos, and it didnt disappoint! 5 stars! Service was on point, and the food was spectacular! Chef came out to speak with us, which made everyone at our table feel special.
This was not my favourite dinning experience. The waiter seemed impatient and annoyed me were there. I asked to order appetizers when we sat and we didn t get to order them for 45 minutes. Then we asked about the spoon and he seemed annoyed about that too. The portions are very small and overpriced for what they are. Would not recommend.
Our server was fantastic! Food was ok. Not really worth the price tho.
Favorite restaurant in Vancouver, hands down. Lobster pasta is excellent, along with the service and the rest of the menu! Highly recommend. I personally had many celebrations here since I was a child. Thanks Cioppino s, for making every meal so special.
We were a group of 4 and had a marvellously enjoyable dinner with appetizers, pastas, and desserts. The dish that stood out was the uni linguine with a well balanced sauce for the delicate sweet uni. Everything else was very delicious as well and we are looking forward to our next opportunity to dine here.
Terrific personable service, the most delicious and beautiful cuisine. Go before it closes!
Grat italian food in Vancouver. Chef is amazing
Came this weekend and was quite disappointed with our experience. Been here a few times but it was my bf s first time since he is from out of town and I was really excited for him to dine here, however the staff that night did not feel welcoming at all. Our server seemed like he did not want to entertain us, but was so friendly to other tables with more mature crowd, and we just kept waiting and felt really snubbed. We eventually had another server help us after asking for somebody to come. Food was still great, but the hospitality was terrible and such a let down for such a high end place.
Outstanding food paired with the best service in the city. Pino came by and chatted mid meal, which was a very nice touch. The private dining room with seating for 10 to 12 people is fantastic, but our group was too large and we moved to the chef s table. This is a semi-private table across from a kitchen staging area, which was not in use during our meal. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to book again for a large group at this restaurant. To top off our great evening, the service by Anastasiia was the most attentive I have seen and experienced when dining with a large group. The service when I have been here before was always fantastic, but it is never easy to keep a large group feeling well cared for and Chioppino s certainly delivered.
Always love your food and service. Sad to hear youre closing
Great food, great atmosphere, always my favorite restaurant.
It is sad that this fine establishment is closing down... 5 star food. Michellin guide resto in Yaletown
Absolutely phenomenal. I hardly take the time to leave a review but the food and service were simply outstanding. We had the porchini and chestnut soup that was smooth and delicate, beet salad, fried zucchini flowers, a seasonal favorite of mine, risotto with lobster, short rib, fusilli and for dessert tiramisu and cream brulee. Everything was seasoned perfectly and we even got to meet the chef himself. We are only visiting from out of town but so far the best food we have had in vancouver and the best italian I have had in a very long time. If you can get a reservation this is a must eat!
Unreal. Bluefin Tuna, The pasta, Tiramisu, and Espresso. Thank you again Pino for the hospitality.
GoodBye! You will be missed.
Our recent visit to the restaurant for our daughter s confirmation dinner was a bit disappointing. The dishes didn t quite live up to the high standards we had experienced in the past. The overall quality felt rather average, which might explain the recent news about the restaurant s impending closure.
Weve been coming here on a seasonal basis and always chose the Chefs Choice option for dinner. We have yet to be disappointed with our experience. Since hearing of its closure set for the end of the year, weve now committed to going at least every other month. We will miss this place and the delightful experience it offers!
Very nice place to enjoy an authentic Italian cuisine. Excellent wine selection.
Excellent food, fresh restaurant made pasta, irresistible olive oil, garlic pasta with truffles. What more is there to ask for? Our server was so polite and helpful, I felt bad the number of dishes they changed for us throughout the meal. The chef even came out to ask us how the food was- it was DELICIOUS!! Had a wonderful time dining here with our friends. Top tier dining experience!
Good food, good service made good time. Recommend as well. Food
This place never disappoints. Hosted a group of friends for dinner last night and everything was beyond exceptional as always.
Exquisite. FINALLY, an establishment worthy of MORE than a mere 5 stars. Located in Yaletown, a lively vibe, Cioppino s sits modestly amongst a number of offerings. Do not be fooled by its casual dining room and be prepared to be AMAZED by its culinary offerings. There were no missteps, no better luck next time, and the experience was superb from start to finish. The portions may be modest in size (for this diner and his voracious appetite) but are hearty and filling. Tucked harmlessly away under Antipasto and Salads are a number of delectable offerings and DO read the ingredients and preparation for each. The (Caesar) with its grilled lettuce was divine, however, the Calamari was the runaway hit of that series of courses. In an instant, a deep fried, lightly breaded calamari can go from a melting morsel to a tough, rubber-like catastrophe. At Cioppino s, they have identified the PRECISE moment to plate.. The Calamari alone warrants a reservation. The fresh bread served at the outset featured a light loaf surrounded by a crisp, golden crust. The spread (a mix of garlic, olive oil, and butter?) is a tasty accompaniment instead of the usual oil/vinegar so many rely on. When this diner enquired, the Scallopine Funghi does not include a pasta, and the Bollognese was selected as a shared plate . Once again, bursting with flavor, it nearly overshadowed the veal itself. The service, seamlessly provided by a rotation of professional, courteous staff, only enhanced the experience with their timeliness and precision. Instead of random intervention, it was a symphony of service. I would invite ALL other establishments to witness and attempt to emulate the same. I happened upon Cioppino s through search alone, impressed by its menu, and a sense that it would deliver. Please, PLEASE consider this venue if you enjoy Italian Cuisine as it is meant to be appreciated.
I went here for my birthday and the food was amazing. We had calamari to start, o had the rack of lamb and my partner had the duck. For dessert we couldn t decide so we got the salted caramel crème brûlée and the chocolate soufflé. The server was so attentive in filling my wine, brought out a complimentary dessert and were visited by the chef to check in. Would definitely go back!
Fantastic food and ambiance. Will definitely keep coming!
We came here for a girls night dinner. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and disappointing. We had heard great things about this place and came in with high expectations. When we arrived, we were brought past an almost completely empty dining room into a back room to be seated. The back room had two other tables which struck us as strange- had all three tables been seated in the main dining area, the restaurant would have appeared much busier. It was a slow weekday evening, so I doubt they were holding every one of those tables for reservations. We started with the beef carpaccio, which lacked flavor and quality. The parpadelle and tagliolini had great flavor, but the portions were comically small. The prices are by no means outrageous for Yaletown, but the portions were so small we quite literally stifled laughter when the plates were brought over. The lobster pasta was extremely underwhelming. The lobster itself was good, but the sauce was bland. However, this was the only pasta with a good sized portion. The service itself was nearly perfect. The only issue we encountered was they do not offer wine tasters for their wines by the glass. As two members of our party are longtime servers both from restaurants in Yaletown, we thought that was very strange, especially since we wanted to purchase a bottle. We ate here over a week ago. I am posting this review now because I am still bothered by this experience after all this time.
Just had lunch ( open for only Thursday and Friday ). Excellent food and service , high quality appetizers and pasta , the Tiramisu is out of this world! . Been there many times over the years . Always an enjoyable experience. Chef/ Owner Pino is the best In Vancouver!!
What an amazing place with fantastic food and service. HIGHLY recommend to take a reservation. The cioppinos at cioppinos is unbeatable
Pasta and beef were cooked perfectly, and the dessert was dangerously delicious
Wife and I shared a cioppino and salad. What a gorgeous restaurant. Quite excellent service and the food was yummy. Service was impeccable but not intrusive. Recommended!
Our server definitely didnt want to be working the night we were there, or at least that was the vibe we got. The young man putting the good in the table didnt tell us what the items were. The food was very expensive and bland. Everything had foam on it. The halibut was very moist but tasteless. We were there for a business dinner, but we wont be back. Other places we enjoy more in the area. Parking: Free spots out front for parking but theres a parking garage at the end of the street. Valet parking is available for $21.
Pino is the best
Super professional customer service A++ Cioppinos is a delightful culinary haven that embodies the essence of fine dining. From the moment you step in, youre enveloped in an atmosphere that marries elegance with warmth. The décor, with its subtle nods to classic Italian charm, sets the stage for an unforgettable experience. But its not just the ambiance that captivates; its the impeccable service, exemplified by our server Anastasia. Her grace, knowledge, and attention to detail elevate the dining experience to extraordinary heights. Anastasias recommendations were spot on, guiding us through a culinary journey that delighted the senses. And then, the food. Each dish is a masterpiece, meticulously crafted with the finest ingredients. From the savory starters to the mouthwatering mains, every bite is a symphony of flavors. The seafood, in particular, is a standout, fresh and expertly prepared. In conclusion, Cioppinos is not just a restaurant; its an experience. And Anastasia, with her exceptional service, is the shining star that makes this experience truly unforgettable.
Amazing service. Delicious food, pasta made in house, the burrata and other items are shipped directly from Italy, a spectacular wine selection. Your senses will not be disappointed, the experience is worth every penny.
So yummy so delicious, service is fantastic
Best Italian in Vancouver, hands down
This is a wonderful restaurant with amazing service. We had the caprese salad which was good, calamari was good, and my mother Sunday lasagne was ok. The restaurant has an amazing wine cellar and they do not allow people to bring in their own wine and pay corkage fees.
My fave Italian in vancouver. Get the uni pasta the lava cake, not on menu. But my go to!!!!! I come here ALLLL the time
Amazing food, drinks and service.
Ive always heard good things about this restaurant for years but havent tried it until yesterday. The service, food and ambience is amazing! The pappardelle is to die for!!! I will definitely be coming back in the future.
Food portions are kind of small
The owner of the restaurant is the best one out there, he likes to play freezzette and picolo (like his eagle), he has the best beard in the world. He always stands for his bro Samuele and his team Open Aurora with his unique hang gesture of a pyramid. Like he says posso dire una roba? : Highly Recommended
Absolutely mind blowing meal. Truly enjoy every bite, as did the other 5 guests at my table.
Amazing restaurant from the owner to the staff.
Have travelled to Italy countless times, this is as good as it gets. Special place for a special occasion or even just a quick plate of pasta. Service, food, execution all there. Chef Pino and the team are at the top of their game, so fortunate to be able to go to a restaurant of this high level in this city.
Best Italian food and atmosphere is amazing for our anniversary dinner
Nice ambience, great date spot and chef Pino was great to talk to. Service was on point as well!
They had the best bolognese I ve ever tried. The staff was very nice, and didn t bother me when they see me alone unlike other places. The only problem was the amount of portion, it was too little.
I booked one of the private rooms for a small dinner with family and friends to celebrate my wifes milestone birthday. the entire evening was absolutely perfect - great service (thanks Pino, Stewart and the entire team!), food that was incredible (can see why Chef Pino just won international rewards), and an intimite exquisite room (Mamma Paola wine room). Chef is an incredible host, and came by multiple times to make sure we were enjoying the meal - and even made a special Cacio e Pepe dish for our one guest with food allergies. If you are wanting a place to celebrate a special milestone - i HIGHLY recommend Cioppinos and booking one of their private rooms. will be back again for sure!
I will go back. We had duck in 5 spice sauce, Branzino, and veal ossobuco. All our dishes were excellent but I think the Branzino was the best dish with the worst presentation . The chocolate souffle and ice cream was amazing. Food was served hot, and they all had depth to the flavors. The veal was a little tougher than expected but tasted amazing. Service was outstanding! Attentive, very professional, and friendly. At or better than the Michelin two star restaurants Ive been to. The place is elegantly decorated, taking advantage of the wood beam structure of the building. They have a world class selection of wines. Dietary restrictions: Excellent service for the celiac at our table. There are lots of choices on the menu, and they are happy to adjust meals and are quite creative when doing so. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.
Best of the best Pino is one of the greatest Italian Chefs in the world and Cioppinos Mediterranean Grill does not disappoint. Its like dining in Italy in Vancouver! I Highly recommend this authentic Italian restaurant!
Even though it s difficult getting a reservation here, I promise it s worth it. 4 of us came here for a birthday and first impression started off well with the hostess offering to coat check our coats. We were seated and service was prompt. We were given water and offered drinks right away.. seeing that we weren t ready, Ian (our server) gave us time but made sure to return promptly. The food was immaculate. Probably one of the best meals and overall experiences I ve had in a while. I ordered the Wild Prawns for an appetizer and out of all 4 appetizers, this one took the limelight. Presentation was amazing, prawns delicious and the garlic sauce left over in the plate was so full of flavour and excellent to spread on the bread. We also had the Lobster Bisque which I will preface with- I m not usually a fan, but this one was creamy but not heavy and such a nice subtle buttery lobster flavour. For dinner I went with Ian s recommendation of the Pappardelle al guanciale di vitello e porcini . He mentioned it s one of their most popular dishes and I can see why. The 4 hour braised veal cheeks just melt in your mouth. The pasta was *chefs kiss* perfection. The other entree pictured was the sablefish, and I m getting tired of using the word perfect, but it was cooked to buttery perfection. You could probably slice it with an actual butter knife. 20/10- definitely recommend
The best Italian restaurant in the world no1
My Favorite restaurant in Vancouver, no contest.
We had originally heard great things from our friends so my gf and I decided to book 3 months in advance for Valentines day. Lets just say that we had high expectations and were very excited to experience what Cioppino is all about. We were very disappointed to say the least. Our food took 2 hours to arrive...there were atleast 9-10 people in the kitchen and the restaurant wasnt even fully booked. They kept serving us bread during that time. Theres only so much bread one can consume before getting tired of waiting. When our food did finally arrive we were both shocked at what we received. 60z steak with 2 broccolis...not even marinated. Tasted super bland to the point we felt we got scammed due to the occasion. Our bill came to $290. Ive been to other classy places in Vancouver where you get an actual meal for that price. Lets just say that we are never going back there again. Not sure what its like on a regular night, but were no longer going to risk it after being completely let down by our first visit.
Beautiful restaurant with friendly and attentive staff! We had the Uni Pasta & Cacio Pepe!Portions are small, thank goodness for table bread!
Had a great meal here. The gnocchi was unbelievable and the service is next level. Homey environment and exceptional food. Highly recommended
Went here for the first time on Saturday and it was the best restaurant experience I ve had in Vancouver. Incredible food, service, atmosphere.. I am counting down the days until I get to come here again. The food is truly TO DIE FOR.
I ve been wanting to come here for a while. Made reservations but it was a quiet night. The food was good, I was hoping everything would be impeccable. We were still full from a massive sushi lunch so only sampled a few things. Octopus starter was amazing, great flavour and texture and some fava beans floating around 4.5/5. We had 2 pastas, the first being the lobster linguine. This was amazing, you get half a tail and a claw in a tomato cream sauce which has a little spice to it. Perfectly Al dente, I think this is a must have everytime 5/5. We also had one do the night specials which was ravioli with ricotta and Buffalo mozz, it had a light tomato sauce 4/5. We shared a branzino main, this is good too, Perfectly cooked with a lemon caper sauce and some fresh veg 3.5/5. Finished it off with a panna cotta, now I m very picky with my panna cotta. I felt it was a little too thick, and had too much going on. Too much fruit and chocolate crumble, the streusel was good but overall the panna cotta didn t shine. This was a miss and probably a 3/5. Service is amazing here and I ll be back to try the rest of the menu, probably with a larger group so I can sample more dishes.
Good service. Ordinary food. 2.5 stars. I don t think it delivers on all the hype. $350 for 2 is fine if it s at least memorable. Too bad I had high hopes.
We went to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary with our family and friends- we were pampered from the beginning till the end- the food was amazing- the Burrata eggplants is a must- the short ribs were melting in the mouth- everything was cooked to perfection! Highly recommend
Worth Trying. Would Return. I committed reviewer crime by not ordering Steak at a Steakhouse. Cioppinos namesake dish is a seafood soup, filled with chunks of fish and other seafood with a flavourful, hearty broth. Not bad. Needless to say, great service, refined atmosphere. Extensive wine list, but very very poor offering by the glass considering. Expect $70+pp
A new jem for sure. The service is amazing and the food sublime. I will definitely be back next time Im in Van.
Bad
Maybe because of valentines rush that day. But food was good but not 5 star
This place is next level delicious. Amazing food, service and room absolutely exquisite. Top 50 Italian restaurant in the World and I can clearly see why.
One of the great Vancouver restaurants
One of the great restaurants in Van
FOOD: food was great, however for the price point, I would stick with usual places for pasta and such. really enjoyed the 4 hour braised cheeks and mushroom pasta (the highlight of the night). the lobster pasta was light and not too oily but was lacking richer and deeper flavour for my palate. the triple a tenderloin steak was very soft and tender. the veggies on the side were alright but felt there was missing in the dish DRINK: had a strawberry daiquiri but there was little taste of strawberry and was more alochol heavy than expected got this based on recommendations and didnt realize it would be this heavy after asking for something light and fruity MOOD: lighting was a bit too dark for me. music to me did not set the mood SERVICE: the staff were attentive and very helpful. however it felt a bit awkward that there was always someone floating around our table watching over us
Chef Pino and his team provide a superb dining experience, its never a dull time at Cioppinos. I recommend the eggplant two ways with burrata and the uni linguine!
Best dining experience I have had in Vancouver. Simply amazing from service to food to drinks to ambience.
Impeccable service. Great atmosphere and food. I had their special sablefish stuffed ravioli which was delicious and my dining partner had the halibut which was so fresh and tender. Ciopinnos is a Yaletown staple and this is definitely on my list of usual restaurants I frequently eat at.
The lobster risotto was incredible.
The all star dish was the short rib. Absolutely delicious. The service is world class. Overall, for the value there are better restaurants in Vancouver but it is certainly worth checking out.
this was not very kid friendly, and my child just wanted a burger because he was just a little boy and he did not like the food on the menu and he got the food from in and out and brought it inside and they cause a lot of drama and ended up kicking us out and said that we cannot take it inside their building, so I would not recommend coming here, it s not kid friendly Kid-friendliness: this was not very kid friendly, and my child just wanted a burger because he was just a little boy and he did not like the food on the menu and he got the food from in and out and brought it inside and they cause a lot of drama and ended up kicking us out and said that we cannot take it inside their building
Probably the best fillet mignon and service Ive had in a while, would probably come here 4x weekly if I lived in the area.
As expected, so much care to every component of food and service. Top Italian spot in Van and consistent over so many years has gotta hold weight over all these new fine Italian spots.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Make a reservation to not miss this place!
Best and most friendly chef ever Pino , Appetizers were delicious,I didn t like my Pasta, I didn t complain,Chen noticed I was not happy with my food , she let the chef know, he came with an incredible pasta dish!!!!! Without asking! This place is a 100% recommended restaurant Food
The chef/owner of the restaurant Pino is amazing. We really enjoyed the food and the chat with him at our table. I highly recommend this place !
Italian fine dining. Tasty and with great ambiance
Cioppinos came highly praised and highly recommended. Their published accolades were aplenty. So often, places dont live up to the hype. But Cioppinos did not disappoint. From the vibe, to the service, to the meal, everything was spot on for a casually elegant anniversary dinner. The cocktail menu was more robust than the wine by the glass menu, but the 3 different wines that I tried were great and reasonably priced (even better, the reds were served at a proper temperature). Our only regret was not being hungrier. My wife and I split an appetizer (the prawns - which were actually medium-sized shrimp - good, but nothing overly note worthy). I had the risotto alla carbornara and my wife had the gnocchi cacio e pepe. Both were ridiculously scrumptious. Like meals served in Italy, the portions were a perfect size. While we had no room for a main course, we were completely satisfied. There are a lot of incredible food choices in this beautiful city. If you have one night to do Italian, you wont go wrong with Cioppinos.
Highly recommend! Food was exceptional. We tried the red sauce pasta with lobster and that changed my perspective on lobsters! Absolutely loved it. Service was great and fast, we came really early! Haha Although I wished our waitress was in a better mood, she needed to smile more! :) Atmosphere was questionable, super super dark inside!! Also have to book months in advance!!!!! Overall we had a wonderful experience for our anniversary.
Without special requests it might have been fine. So we feel ripped off. Simply leaving out the most valuable thing and then charging the full price is not right.
One of the best restaurants Ive ever been to
Fantastic
Underwhelming. We came to celebrate a milestone achievement for my mom, having been here a few years ago with fond memories. We ordered 5 appetizers, 4 mains, and 2 desserts. For food, nothing was extraordinary. The chocolate torte was especially disappointing, any novice baker could make a similar cake. I think considering the price, there are better alternatives in the City these days. Service was good.
If you want to enjoy amazing food, top service in this amazing restaurant from chef Sir Pino , do not hesitate and book your table there!! Always amazing and best Italian restaurant in Canada!
Wow wow wow! The service here is top notch. Came here to celebrate my birthday and I had complimentary cake The pasta was phenomenal!! We shared the following: Pappardelle al guanciale di vitello e porcini - my fave! Daily Special Tagliolini Ribeye Rack of lamb Dinner came with bread & hummus. Such a lovely place for a romantic dinner!
The care is excellent from the recovery itself. Very good tasting food.
Absolutely lovely experience at Ciopinnos to celebrate. We sat in an intimate patio space with attentive servers who provided great food recommendations. Most importantly, the pasta was tremendous and in my experience, the best in Vancouver. Despite being full after our 3 courses, we played with the idea of ordering another pasta plate. The only challenge was getting a reservation - a testament to their high quality and standards.
This place is a winner: the food is excellent, the service is perfectly paced and the atmosphere is great. My sister had the sea urchin special, I had gnocchi and my other two dinner mates had veal cheek pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I will definitely return. Worth the money.
I have heard a lot about this restaurant and personally had a good experience. Foods were delicious. Some of their pastas are made in the house and some don t, but the portions were rather small for the price you re paying. Upon arrival, they served bread which was cold and stale, alongside some chickpea purée which was very bland! I really wished it was some flavoured butter or something.
If you havent been then you just dont know . Absolutely amazing
Delicious! Friendly and attentive service. Love it and would want to come back. Food : 5/5
This restaurant was highly recommended by a relative. We came to Vancouver from Southern California and were pleased with the food we had that evening.
Fantastic food!
With such an anticipated high rating fine dining restaurant, I took my out of town guests here for lunch. This restaurant is beautiful, services are excellent but the dishes I had were disappointing: from the soup that suggested of our waiter, my main course Sablefish, to desert Cannoli ~ fine dining prices but not the dishes. My guests liked the red wine and our coffee was good. For what we paid, I dont think I would return to eat here.
Fine dining at it s best! All the culinary awards are well deserved. Highly recommend.
I received a very gracious call from the chef and owner of Cioppinos following my review, with a sincere apology and with the sole intent of better understanding our experience. This was very much appreciated! What is incredibly clear is that he is passionate about his craft and clients, and that this has been a well-loved/celebrated dining destination for 25+ years for that reason. I wish this iconic, award-winning restaurant every success. *** Our family was looking forward to a special dinner at Cioppinos but found the experience very disappointing compared to other restaurants we have recently frequented. The service, while well-meaning, was overly casual, unpolished and disjointed. So too was the presentation and quality of our meals from appetizers, through to pastas to mains the dishes lacked flavour, polish and subtlety. There are many conventional and chain restaurants in Vancouver that offer better service, and a more appropriate culinary experience and dining ambiance for a more favourable price. I seldom leave negative reviews, but the evening was disappointing (and for an audience that is typically quite forgiving!). For those who are looking for a special occasion restaurant, you may wish to compare alternatives and look at recent reviews regarding the food.
The food was wonderful along with the service. The owner/chef was also very friendly, and helped sort out a miscommunication
my first time at the restaurant with my family , the atmosphere is very elagant and food is also high quality. I appreciate your service , Best !!
The cooking is the best in the Italian restaurant at Vancouver, but the decoration seems to be updateed , so many years passed.
I like the pasta!
It was one of the best dinning experiences I have had in a long time. Aside from the delicious food, drinks and warm,, beautiful ambience, to our surprise, Chef Pino came out to greet us with an amazing bottle of authentic olive oil from Italy that he uses for his restaurant. He took his time to reassure us the quality of his ingredients in his cooking as one of my friends had a dietary restriction. WOW! We ll definitely be back for more flavourful and authentic Italian cuisine!
Amazing food, very friendly staff!
Went with 11 others and had an amazing experience. Arrived early, greeted with hospitality. Moved to a private room which in my experience usually means slower service and colder food...not here. Service is impeccable and the food spectacular. It came out perfectly hot and with good cadence. The chef came to say hi and remarkably remembered a few of the guests. I will go back and strongly recommend.
Food was delicious. Dont expect large servings. The servings were great for someone with a small frame. The taste of the food was delicious. For 2 people, we had 1 appetizer and shared 2 mains (a pasta dish and rack of lamb), and shared a dessert. No drinks. Total with 18% tip was $186 cad. For bigger people, maybe 1 or 2 additonal dishes would be sufficient. Service was superb. We said we were sharing and they presented the food and then halved it for you and then served it in separate plates. Theyd also come clean your table for crumbs or food that fell on the table cloth. We asked where the lamb was from and they said theyd check, one of the cooks came out to show us the lamb in shrink-wrap that said it was Canadian lamb from Alberta. Ambiance was great. Low lights but still with a buzz as there were lots of people.
We were able to get a table because of a last minute reservation. The service is good and they were helpful with the recommendations. The calamari was crispy and light, not doughy like some other establishments. I do wish they had a dip on the side to complement the flavours. I got the pappardelle as recommended, which was cooked perfectly, but I ultimately switched plates with my partner because the lamb was absolutely delicious, and he liked the pasta more so win-win! It was more on the rare side, which I loved. The potatoes were a nice touch. The only dish that disappointed was the lava cake, but I think that was because it was gluten-free so we expected something more traditional. Nevertheless it was not bad, just not something we would get again. When we were paying the bill, either the manager or the owner came by to say thank you for dining with them which was such a nice gesture! We would love to come back to try the other recommendations (uni pasta!).
My favorite restaurant in Vancouver
Food was okay, service was less than friendly.
Serving can be more friendly
A classic staple of the downtown Vancouver fine dining scene. Ive dined here many times over the last 25 years and it just gets better. World class Italian cuisine with amazing service.
I typically really enjoy the food here; service definitely is stuffy - but it is consistent & attentive. Very disappointed with my last visit here. The service provided (or lack of?) is why I would not go back. It was a very empty restaurant around 5:30pm (about 1 table had 4 guests), the rest empty; and they stated all tables are full for bookings for the evening. It doesnt take an operations genius to sort out that they dont have a 6pm seating for all their tables, it felt like a response to not seat us - I dont know the motivation behind why they would refuse, especially since it was for 2 people and we mentioned we wouldnt be there for long. However, their approach to this left me unsettled and felt like they were being disingenuous with their response. I will not be going back (even though its a fave amongst my friends/fam). Ended up going to Blue Water Cafe and had a great experience, immediately seated (and their restaurant was much busier) and we were out of there in an hour and 15 mins. Walked by Cioppinos after and it still was still empty. In general a good italian spot, but due to service I think theres equivalent places with good food but much better service.
Has old school charm. Good food. Excellent selection of wine. They knew it was our anniversary and surprised us with a little dessert. Service was very attentive. We had the lobster risotto, scallops, cannoli and aglio olio. Restaurant is a bit dimly lit so a little hard to read the menu. I asked for a recommendation for q glass of wine to go with my meal and the place was a bit dimly lit so I couldn t really see the drink list and priced so I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
We were at Cioppinos the other day for dinner and it was very good, my only complaint would be that when I ordered the steak it came wit beans? I thought they could have paired it better. Beans kind of made the meal feel cheep. Other then that it was fabulous!! Parking: it was good
Bad service, mediocre food maybe the staff were racist? I had made a reservation here, 2 months ahead, to have dinner to celebrate a very special occasion with notes letting the staff know. The staff here were so subpar I considered not even tipping them. We had to ask for menus when we arrived as well as the dessert menu. The waiting staff was so hard to reach and did not even make an effort to help us all the while they were chatting and laughing with the couple a few tables away. Maybe its because of the way we looked (were Asian). Staff didnt even ask us how the food was tasting, which I think should have been the least they could have done. Id recommend going to Elisa instead. They had spectacular service and food and the dinning experience was amazing as well. Felt so neglected on a such a special day and just ruined the whole dinning experience. Food was mediocre about a 3/5. Wasnt anything special but didnt taste awful. Presentation of the food was ok.
Fantastic food great service will go again
One of the best meals Ive ever had. The flavours of each course were perfect. Service and atmosphere was great. Loved it. Cant wait to go back.
I had a great meal, service was amazing. Higley reccomend.
Everything was executed perfectly. Food was delicious, service was warm and friendly, and atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. Terrific menu with nice variety and they offer valet parking if required.
Food was good but it wasnt captivating for the price they charge. Service was excellent and we feel welcomed. Tables are well spread apart making it an enjoyable space for dinner. Fresh flowers on the table, and everywhere is quite clean and tidy.
He best Italian food and service I ve experienced!
The food was fine but not worth the price, especially in comparison for the high quality you can get at other restaurants in town. Portions were on the smaller side for sure. The octopus appetizer was pretty underwhelming.. when we mentioned that to the server, they were condescending enough to ask if we knew which parts of the dish were actually the octopus. The food world has moved on from this obnoxious attitude. The other dishes were fine and tasty, but not worth the price. The desserts were lovely. The experience was fine but we won t be back and there are better places to spend your money for sure.
Little underwhelming.... booked lunch as this restaurant had been tipped by Stanley Tucci in his book Taste so thought we might be in for a treat. Evidently, he eats here free so perhaps that clouds his judgement. The Octopus starter was superb, but my wifes Fried Calamari was chip shop greasy. Mains were OK, but nothing to write home about and to be honest my Spaghetti Vongole was greasy and claggy rather than the usual sea-fresh dish it can be. Service was good, but I dont think the staff own an iron between them! Wish I could report a better experience, but will not be returning.
Only if you dine in the vip room in the back!!! I would highly highly recommend
Had high expectations for tonight dinner. Food was ok but not great. Staff was friendly.
A perfect restaurant!
