Modern Persian restaurant.
The dishes are very tasty and presented beautifully. Elegant yet still with a home feeling. We had the meatballs, cauliflower on yogurt and beef dishes. I’ll be back.
Delicious!!!! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant too - the interior design was incredible. My Fesenjoon had amazing strong flavours and the turmeric/orange cake was delightful - not too sweet and great texture. Wish I lived in the city so I could go back ASAP!!!
The bread was really good with feta cheese and the house made jam was great. The atmosphere was great, and the server was very nice. First time trying Persian cousin, not so familiar with it. But my friend likes the lentils soup.
I’d heard amazing things about Delara, a Michelin-starred Persian restaurant, so I had to check it out while in Vancouver. The food was delicious, and you could tell it was made with so much love and care. I started with the koofteh, which was incredibly smooth and flavorful—definitely my favorite! For the main, I had the beef ghalieh, and while the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, it was a little too oily for my taste. The dishes weren’t your typical Persian fare—they took creative twists on traditional flavors, and I loved that. The koofteh came with fresh sourdough bread that was super tasty, though I would’ve liked more to go with the portion. Same with the rice—the amount didn’t quite match the stew, and since the beef ghalieh is a tangy dish, it was tricky to eat without enough rice. The atmosphere was calming with a subtle Persian vibe, though I think a bit more lighting would have made the place even cozier. The service was good, but we did wait a bit longer than expected, even though it wasn’t very busy. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but I think it’s worth it to give it a shot once.
We enjoyed every last bite of our dinner! Every dish is bursting with flavor, even the Saffron rice which was definitely crispy. Would order everything again and excited to come back to try more.
Even though it’s been a while since our visit to Delara, the experience is still fresh in my mind, and I felt compelled to share it. The ambiance at Delara is a perfect blend of modern and Persian influences, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was top-notch, with staff who were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My wife and I ordered the Chicken and Barberries and the Steelhead Trout, both of which were exceptional. The dishes were beautifully presented and packed with flavor, especially when paired with the crispy saffron rice—a delightful touch that added a perfect texture to the meal. Every bite was a treat, and it’s clear that the chefs at Delara put a lot of care into their craft. We were thoroughly impressed and will definitely be back for another visit.
Easily some of the best Persian food I’ve had! Really a fantastic experience like no other. The food stands out and clearly they’ve put a lot of love and thought into the menu and each item here. Sad I don’t live here to visit often but I’ll be back next times I’m in Vancouver 😍 Tried it for lunch and loved their food so much, I came back for dinner with a larger group!
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! I've been going to Delara since the very first days they opened, when they didn't have chairs yet! I love their unique take on Persian cuisine. Every food is flavorful without being overwhelming. I can taste the care and love put into making each dish. I proudly take all my non-Iranian friends here to introduce them to Persian cuisine.
We recently visited this Restaurant in Vancouver for Yalda Night, expecting a vibrant and happening atmosphere since we were told the restaurant was fully booked!! In fact, we couldn t even reserve seats for two additional friends due to the lack of availability. However, upon arrival at , we were surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty it was eerily quiet, with no sign of the lively ambiance we anticipated. The menu was another letdown. They only offered a fixed set menu, which had to be ordered for the entire table. There was no flexibility to accommodate individual preferences, and the dishes were quite ordinary, lacking the quality or creativity you d expect at this price point. What made the experience worse was the complete absence of any Yalda-themed elements. There was no music, no events, and not even the traditional touches that you d associate with Yalda Night. The service was inconsistent, with one server rushing while the others seemed indifferent. To top it all off, the food itself was disappointing, with flavors that fell far short of expectations. I can confidently say that this was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences we ve had. If you re looking for fusion cuisine or even authentic Persian food, there are much better options in Vancouver. Unfortunately, Delara Restaurant does not live up to its hype, and I would not recommend it especially for a special occasion like Yalda Night.
If you re in Vancouver, you absolutely should try Delara Restaurant. The food is amazing! We tried the Fesenjoon, Mirza Ghasemi, and Mahiche, and everything was delicious. Highly recommend this place!
Great food
Beautiful place and lovely staff
The lunch menu is so limited, and I have no idea why gheyme stew was made with lentils. It was challenging to explain to my non-Iranian friends that our traditional dishes are different from what they were served.
My wife and I invited a friend to this restaurant, hoping to experience high-quality, authentic Persian cuisine for the first time. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. The quality of the food was embarrassing, to say the least. The braised lamb sandwich was atrocious dry, smelly, and unpalatable, tasting like unpleasant mutton. The Gheymeh was equally appalling. It didn t resemble the traditional Persian dish at all. When we asked the waitress about it, she casually informed us that the chef had her own definition of Gheymeh. Imagine going to a restaurant, ordering authentic fish and chips, and being served a hamburger instead only to be told that the chef reimagined it. That s exactly how absurd this was. The waitress, who appeared unfamiliar with Persian cuisine, seemed genuinely unaware of what real Gheymeh should be like. The only redeeming dish was the Koofteh, which was passable but far from extraordinary. If youre searching for authentic, high-quality Persian food, I strongly recommend avoiding this overpriced restaurant. It was a waste of time and money, and I will never go back. UPDATE: 8 hrs later, still I feel nauseous and had to skip dinner and just drink water hoping tomorrow I feel better.
If you wanna try Iranian cuisine(Persian cuisine), just try here.
The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients you could really taste. I definitely recommend trying it. They re also in the Michelin guide, which shows their skill in flavors and cooking.
I visited Delara Restaurant with high expectations but was deeply disappointed. The service was poor, and the staff were unprofessional. The table was not clean. The space was cramped, with tables so close that when someone at the next table sneezed, it made for an uncomfortable experience. The food was cold, low quality, and the portion sizes were shockingly small given the high prices. I requested additional cutlery, but it arrived 30 minutes later after I had finished my meal and was carelessly placed on the table. When I raised my concerns with the manager, they didn t even offer an apology. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Not recommended.
Their food are goods but small portions
The food is great, delicious Koofteh
Our server was so awesome, very friendly and helpful. Food was incredible. Had the mushroom lentil stew, it was fantastic, very hearty, nice balance. Really good portion size, all the mains came with rice and tahdig which complemented the meal. The bread and dip app was very nice too. They replaced the bread when empty which was a nice gesture. I also had the Persian Godfather cocktail. It was very smooth and well made. My partner had the cucumber honey Sherbat, it reminded her of an Italian soda. She loved it. Saffron and pistachio ice cream was divine! We would return, and definitely recommend this place to others. Vegetarian options: Very accommodating. 1 main option, several app options. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating to vegetarianism and the my partners celiac disease.
We went to this restaurant specifically to try the fesenjoon and it did not disappoint! It was full of incredible flavour, tangy and sweet and the shared portion was enough to fill us up. The crispy saffron rice was perfect. We also had the smoked olives which were incredibly rich in flavour, and the flatbreads (made in house) with the dips were so savoury, we had to stop ourselves from licking the bowls! We had the cheescake for dessert and it was incredibly decadent. The atmosphere was great and our server, Talia, was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food and wine. The prices were great for the high quality of the food. We would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
expensive but highly worth it
I was really looking forward to trying Delara, but my experience was quite disappointing. When we arrived, we were told all the tables were reserved, which is understandable, but we were seated at a table in a very awkward spot, squeezed between others with almost no room to breathe. It didn t feel comfortable or private at all. We politely asked for an extra chair to make things a bit easier, but the receptionist, in a very dismissive tone, told us they didn t have any, without offering any alternative or solution. When I spoke to the manager, hoping to resolve the issue, I was basically told that it wasn t their problem. I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. It s a shame because I ve heard good things about the food, but the poor customer service really ruined the experience for us. I wouldn t recommend this restaurant if you re expecting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Average restaurant to go to grab a bite Main courses start after 4 pm that means you miss it in lunch time Food
Roasted cauliflower is outrageously good.
Best Persian restaurant in Vancouver
Tasty delicious Persian food in a beautiful setting in Kits. Excellent service, food and drinks my 3rd visit now never disappoints.
I would give this place 6/5 if I could. Delara gives you an experience that no other Persian restaurants in Metro Vancouver can provide. Ive heard a lot of good things and I finally decided to give it a try with a group of friends. The atmosphere and ambience was lovely. The choice of music which I think is very important was spot on, with loads of nostalgic classy Persian music. Our server Farzin went above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and helped us with making decisions on drinks and food. The cocktails sounded very tasty and we got to try some. The pomegranate Margarita was my fave. I would 100% recommend this place for special occasions since its a bit on the pricy side.
My first ever Persian dining experience and wow what a treat. Fantastic friendly helpful service and the food was outstanding. Unique tastes and appies (cauliflower) were awesome. Chicken main was also fantastic. Highly recommend Delara!!!
One of our best meals on our trip to Vancouver. The service was great and food was even better. The lamb shoulder sandwich was very tasty and the other dish (don t remember name) was also tasty.
Went to visit this beautiful place for dinner after they shortly opened (also wanted to see what had replaced my beloved Burgoo location). Drinks were amazing according to my friends since we all ordered differently. I loved my saffron negroni so much, I even ordered it again when I paid another visit, this time was lunch. Both times the meals were absolutely divine and thank you for reasonable portions! The service was friendly and helpful if you couldn t decide what to have (trust me it s problem for everyone). The only reason I m not giving it a 5 star is because they need to up their coffee game. Please go eat at Delara, an absolute gem on 4th Ave.
I would go back there just for their feta! It had a taste that reminded me of Turkish tulum cheese, and it completely won me over. We were there for brunch and sampled a variety of dishes all delicious. Their flatbread was particularly outstanding. The only thing that could have made it better? A Persian playlist to set the perfect vibe.
Our waiter was lovely. As for the food, however... Their main ingredient is salt. We had the fesenjoon with duck and the chicken and barberries. The food doesnt even taste good for how unhealthily salty it is. Compared to other Persian resturants like Akbar Joojeh and Shishlik, the portions are half as much and the prices are double. Though, even with that portion, I couldnt get through more than half of my food because of how extremely salty it was and yet I still woke up with a puffy face from water retention. Ive had $12 fast food far better than this salt stew. The menu is limited and there was probably one other Persian in the entire restaurant including the kitchen, service staff, and customers, because this food does not hold a candle to actual Persian cuisine.
Love the creativity and all the new takes on Iranian food, but let s be real if there s no baghali (fava beans), it s not Baghali Ghatogh! White beans with an egg on top? Tasty maybe, but definitely needs a different name! ;(
The best Persian restaurant in town.
this meal was so vile that if u asked me to recreate it, it couldnt be possibly worse than what they made me. i went here cuz of the michelin guide but was completely disappointed as their beef stew was so sour that even lemons were sweet compared to it, and the only flavor profile that had was sourness. however i must say that their beef melts in ur mouth and tastes like beef.... they also had meatballs which tasted like mystery meat with absolutely no seasoning on it, and the sauce was so bland that it made me question wether i had taste buds or not. they also had bread which was so dry and crusty that it tasted as tho it was a week old and reheated 10 times, but the sesame flavour was fragrant. the hot water was the only thing that was redeemable in this restaurant!!!
Got the braised beef with saffron rice. 7/10. Liked the spices of the braised beef alot but the saffron rice wasnt very fragrant and was quite dry. The special spiced coffee is not great cold imo. 3/10. Quite watery. Would be nice hot. Service was great. Atmosphere is def cosy. Seating is quite close to oneanother
Unassuming front, great food and interesting wine menu
The quality of the food was great, creative and we really enjoyed the appetizers. As for the main courses, we expected more given the $35-47 cost per dish. The main disappointment however was the service. When you charge that kind of money per dish, the service should match the experience. We were sitting for 10 minutes before we were even offered some water, the it took another 10 to get drinks. The service was very casual and unprofessional. During the main course, my wine glass was sitting empty while the waitress walked by a few times. I felt like another glass but in the end gave up as we were finished with the dinner. So all in all, not a great experience providing all the hype and the Michelin write up. We are Kits locals and will rather go back to some other choices in the area.
After many months of waiting finally got to try this very publicized restaurant that I was told was a Persian fusion restaurant recognized by Micheline ( no stars, just acknowledged). I must say for one who s eaten Persian all my life I was somewhat disappointed in their interpretation and creativity of some of our wonderful traditional dishes. They didn t even have any version of my favourite dish which is a dish of fava ( broad beans) beans and dill cooked into the rice served with either lamb shank or chicken. Once over this disappointed I ordered their version of another of my favourite dishes, an eggplant stew with tomatoes and sour grapes in a tomato and turmeric based sauce. Though the classic version is free of meat it also serves the eggplants whole. Here I had a mushed up version of the ingredients low on flavour and the beloved juice that s normally spread over the rice. My wife had their version of a barberry and chicken meal that s cooked and served all together thus the chicken juices flavouring the rice along with the barberries and the cumin seeds. Here however a white rice dish was served with chicken breast served separately cooked in butter and garnished with barberries. Though my wife did like it I was not impressed by the taste or the manner it was served. My daughter had their version of a classic vegetable and meat sauce served on top of white rice. I must say this one was excellent: full of flavour and meat. I definitely will order this one if I go there again. I must mention we had a wonderful server who was warm , friendly and very professional. Added significantly to the experience. The prices however I found very ambitious, downright outrageous. Three and a half stars. Would have been four of some cloth materials were included in the decor for sound absorption as it was truly a loud place as all materials are quite reflective of the noise and no absorbing materials are used. Lastly their homemade dough ( Persian yogurt beverage) was fantastic, one of the best I have had. Will try again but in no hurry
I get lamb shoulder sandwiches and KoKo Sibzamini . It had a good taste and was delicious . Thanks for your great service and delicious food. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access
I used to love this place but I think the quality has gone down a bit. We came two times this week. Last time we got the special which was a lamb dish. It was too fatty. This time, when we gave them the feedback, they got defensive. The ghelieh is a good dish, but overall there are too many sour dishes in the menu: cauliflower is sour, ghalieh is sour, fesenjoon is sour, barberries are also sour! The rice was not cooked well. They used to give a tiny halva at the end but stopped doing that. I genuinely want this restaurant to do better. They re innovative and have huge potential. Hopefully next time :) btw: they had a great French lentils dish (gheymeh) which they don t cook anymore :(
The food here is absolutely amazing. The flavours are so varied and distinct. Easily the best meal we have had in awhile. I recommend to get the Family Dinner. For $65 each you get a set menu of 3 courses and a dessert. All made from scratch and all marvellous. The service and ambiance are also top tier. Will definitely be back.
The food was incredible! The chicken with barberries was so tasty, served with tahdeeg, and I just wanted time to slow down so I could really enjoy all the flavors. The sauce with the chicken was perfect. For dessert, we had saffron ice cream, and it was heavenly. I honestly cant recommend this place enough!
Amazing persian food for ever.
The best Iranian food I ve ever tried. It had a really unique menu and the quality was excellent.
Honestly i heard a lot of good things about delara until last night, Tuesday that I went there with my friends. The appetizer were good , the chicken barberry was too salty, and I don t think main course were reasonably priced. The server did not even ask us, how was the food? So would I ever go back again? Probably Not!
Modern take on the Persian food. The dishes are creative but did not like everything we tried. They usually have few specials to pick from. They also have drinks special. I really carrot milkshake. The restaurant is on expensive side.
Charming restaurant The dishes are original and well presented Fast and discreet service Very pleasant cozy atmosphere for chatting without shouting. Good value for money
A restaurant whose owners know very well how to present a great Iranian recipe to their customers by decorating modern food.
The quality of food and drinks here is really above average. Also very good service and a lovely happy hour.
Great and new taste of Persian food
Went here twice already! Not your typical persian resturant; its fusion style with multiple pages for cochtails. Everything is freshly made. The ambiance is greek style with persian art on the walls. Totally recommend if you are up for new experience. We had the chicken leg with cranberry and the dips and kofte all
I tried this restaurant for the first time, unfortunately my experience wasnt good. First of all the menu was not clear! I have ordered lamb shank and special offer for thanksgiving which was not good in quality and quantity. The herbal rice was not completely cooked and the rainbow fish was not cooked good and our order prepared too late. And also the service was not pleasant I did not have spoon and fork but the waiter was not care about it.
Amazing food, perfect Persian cuisine with new twists!
Too expensive for nothing special
absolutely spectacular and unique dishes, casual but sleek ambience, and excellent service!!
A modern yet authentic take on Persian cuisine. The flatbread was a great addition to the experience.
Meals were pricy, regarding the fact that they were simple Persian Khoresht, they may seem exotic for not Persians, but for me it was like I was paying 30 bucks for Gojebademjoon which doesn t quite make sense to me. It was my friend s birthday and we ve got the tiniest ever Baklava as complementary, the cross section of the tiniest ever candle would barely fit on it. Cocktails were good though. My expectations were higher by far.
It was a great restaurant; the atmosphere was calm and pleasant. The prices were reasonable, and the food quality was good. I recommend it enjoy! have MICHELIN
Nice and kind stuff. But only one time did I see my plate crack. I told them, and they replaced my entire order.
An authentic yet new and rich experience of flavors
I truly enjoy allll meals, super delicious and tasty. Definitely will go again. Definitely recommended. We had their special rib which was probably the best beef I had. Lamp shank was awesome too. Barbari bread was so tasty with their dips.
The interior designs are great but thats about it. We went in without reservation at 7:00 PM, they made sure we knew they had the entire restaurant reserved by 8:00 Pm, food came fast, but portions are surprisingly small, and too much Salt is used. So we were out at 7:40 pm and walking by at 8:30 the restaurant was half empty. Its crazy when you pay $60 for $8 worth of food and still get rushed to order and finish. Truly a unique experience but not very hospitable, unlike the authentic persian culture.
Amazing authentic persian food, with amazing combination of flavors for each dish in the menu
I discovered this place through social media and some bloggers, so I had high expectations going in. Unfortunately, my experience fell short. The quality of the food was disappointing what they served as Gheyme didnt resemble the traditional dish, the beef sandwich was unappetizing with a small portion size that didnt justify the price, and the Fesenjoon was far too sour. The rice portions were also quite small. The only highlight was the bread, which I enjoyed. While the staff were friendly, there were too few servers, leading to long waits whenever we needed something. As someone who appreciates Persian cuisine, I was disappointed with both the food and the overall experience, and I wouldn t recommend this place.
I went in with high expectations, and the food was fantastic, but the service and atmosphere were a little jarring. The dining room is so loud that I couldnt hear the person next to me talking.
Modern, creative, super delicious persian cuisine, the menu is crafted with love, high culinary techniques for whom admires & appreciate those delicious & high quality foods
I recently lunched at Delara restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The staff was warm and welcoming. The menu offers a great variety of Persian dishes with an artistic design, and everything we ordered was delicious. The presentation of each dish was beautiful, showcasing the chefs attention to detail. Actually was a mixing the French style with the Persian flavors. Service was good. The timing between courses was just right, allowing us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. Overall, Delara Restaurant exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon!
that was perfect
I LOVE THE SERVICE AND FOOD It is my fav place to bring my friends or dates It is also really good tasty comforting food All the options are so delicious and it worths every penny Yummy yummy yummy
LOVED everything about this place!! Particularly the cocktails, sharbats, and the food.. definitely recommended
Delara claims to offer quality Persian cuisine, but the reality falls far short. The food is below average, with tiny portions that dont justify the high prices. If youre after authentic persian food, this is definitely not the place. Btw also avoid bringing non-persian guests unless you want everyone to leave disappointed. Save your time and money Delara is not worth it. :(
Don t try!!!!awful service as well
The service was so bad. I showed them the breast duck fesenjun and asked them to bring this for me but they brought me leg duck which I don t like as all. I request to change the food for me but they said we do not have any other food. I request to cancel the food, they did but charged me 40$ although I have not eat any thing. This is exactly how disgusting is their service. I do not recommend this place to any one. You will waste your money there .
Extremely overpriced. For the price charge, I expected more.
Super delicious Persian food!!! Great service and hospitality. Highly recommended!!!
Got the meatballs, duck, chicken and baklava along with a few drinks. The service was great, food was impeccable, well visit again
They have the best persian food , I ever had. Taste was so different and really delicious. The desert was homemade and fresh.
Great spot a couple blocks from the beach great atmosphere, food and cocktail program!
The food was interesting even though I expected for ghalieh to have fish and not beef stew overall it was a good experience. Persian food with a twist.
I had a delicious meal that did not disappoint! I will definitely return.
Awesome experience! I felt like I was in a pretty cool space hanging out with friends and enjoying the delicious food. The service was phenomenal - every staff member was quick with making sure we were OK and taken care of, refilling water glasses/grabbing more drinks and with taking unneeded plates away. And the food - WOW just wow - there is incredible talent in that kitchen - I couldn t fault a single dish - everything was just incredible A special shout out to Melanie for accommodating several time and reservation party changes and also for her incredibly friendly service the day of. Thank you Delara! I ll be back with more friends!
As a Persian cuisine enthusiast, Delara is hands down the best Persian restaurant Ive visited in Canada so far! The food, service, and overall experience were exceptional. As my friends put it, Delara offers a refined version of Persian cuisine. We had the Baghali Ghatogh and Fesenjoon (with chicken) and absolutely loved it! Even though I didnt like Baghali Ghatogh before, this dish won me over. Even the Doogh drink was something weird (in a good way) and tasty. We were in Vancouver for a short trip and had Delara on our bucket list. The restaurant owner (the chef s mom) had a brief chat with us and shared a short story about how Delara has got here, which was quite impressive! I hope they get that Michelin Star soon!
Love this place!! I ve loved everything I ve ever tried.
We went out of our way to go to this place, based on ratings. Did we subpar. Servers were disinterested and borderline rude. We ate our appetizers 1 of 4 was good) and didn t want to risk dinner there, so we left.
Food was okay but not great. Service was bad: no one came to our table asking if we needed anything. After our main course someone came with the check and the payment terminal asked if we were ready to pay. We paid and left Food : 3/5
My husband and I visited this restaurant due to its positive Google reviews. While the atmosphere and decor were pleasant, the food and service were disappointing. Despite many empty tables, we faced a long wait to be seated, and the staff were very slow. The food, including Baghali ghatogh and a braised lamb shoulder sandwich, did not meet our expectations the Baghali ghatogh was of poor quality and tasted off, and the sandwich was overly salty. The prices were too high for what was offered. We do not recommend this restaurant and will not return.
Cute little dining place, the staff are very attentive and friendly. The food was great all in all, deducting a point as every dish basically is based in saffron...if thats your vibe, youre at the right place :) can absolutely recommend
Gorgeous interior, simple but lovely food, and the server was nice. The spiced Iced Coffee was super interesting, Id come back for it.
The food is very good, but some of the dishes are very pricey with, in relation, tiny portions sizes (e.g. Koofteh). We loved their Fesenjoon though!
Over priced, low quality, burnt food, very slow service and do not get an anniversary there. They will give you a tiny tiny tiny desert to share with 2 people. Never have I been so disrespect at a Michelin star before. Save your money and go else where.
Amazing food!
I feel like the food, the decor and the service was en point. However, nothing blew me away and left enough of a memorable impression. As much as I enjoyed all the child-friendly facilities in the restaurant? I might go to another place to try Persian food again. Kid-friendliness: High chairs and change table in the accessible washroom
like you re eating rustic homecooked food in Medieval Persia. Definitely go
Great food. good service Great atmosphere and finally a real chef.
Simply superb. Everything we had was delish. Highly recommended, cant wait to go back.
Overpriced mediocrity
Excellent food- love the modern take on Iranian food. Duck Fesenjoon and Lamb Shank is incredible. The dips are legendary. Drink, perfect pairing. Our server, Nandini, made us feel at home and rounded out the whole experience for us. Restaurant design is beautiful and a night at Delara is always fun!
The food was amazing I ordered lamb shank the sauce was wonderful
The food is probably one of the best Ive had outside of Iran (The deserts are aweful, particularly the baclava). Service, however, is unnecessarily slow, and dare I say bad. To be fair, white looking patrons sitting around us were served well. Our group, being people of color, were poorly served. UPDATE, JUN. 28. 2024: Service was extremely bad. My drink finished halfway and I wanted more but no one came over to ask if I wanted another. The stealhead trout served here is dubiously similar to salmon, which it often is, but not so much as what we were served. We asked about the fish from our server but they walked away mid conversation and never returned with an answer. Vegetarian options: One vegetarian dish available. Non-traditional and tasting more like Indian cuisine.
Food was amazing. The lamb sandwich was delicious, the dips were delicious, the baklava was delicious.
Expensive and bad food
Great Persian Foods is a unique Persian restaurant. Its like a fusion of music, blending traditional and original dishes with modern touches.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. Must try: the Gheymeh and the Meatballs. The fizzy drinks they offer are super refreshing and with amazing flavors!
I visited Dela Restaurant on July 4, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. Despite seeing many negative comments from Persian people, I don t quite understand the criticism. Yes, the concept is Persian food, but it s been modified and westernized. However, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. The flavors were unique and refreshing, offering a new twist on traditional dishes. We were the last ones there, staying almost until 11 o clock, and the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to try a new take on Persian cuisine.
Their food is great but their prices are really high
Amazing food, great service, fantastic people. Highly recommended and must visit. Food is superb!
Not the best food, unfortunately. I only liked their saffron cake.
Food was tasty and and lamb was very tender, but overpriced for a small bowl of rice and a little meat. Everything else tasted of saffron. Desert baklava was so so. Service was slow.
Had a delicious lunch here, with lovely service. Tried the braised lamb shoulder sandwich and baghali ghatogh (white bean and dill stew) with crispy rice, and both were superb. There were so many other nice sounding things on the menu, so I look forward to trying them at some point! Our server was attentive, even though they seemed to be responsible for all of the tables during lunch service, giving good food and drink recommendations. It was nice to be sat by the open window as well, getting the benefit of the nice weather and the beautiful interior.
Delicious roasted chicken leg. Just one serve during lunch time, service a tad slow, but the saffron ice cream with pistacchio is a must!
I don t know what dish made this restaurant Michelin.. truly. I ordered special, it was impossible to eat ( vinegary sour..). So I didn t , I returned the dish, but they still wanted me to pay 50% It would be funny if it wouldn t be a bad business, really. So, nor presentation or service or taste is nowhere even dissent quality In the past if I see that restaurant is even Michelin mention, I would trust its quality, until today. I was just walking by and saw the sign So so strange
The seasonal dips were pretty good, but the bread they came with tasted stale. Braised beef gheymeh was so-so, it felt like a plate of leftovers. It came with saffron rice, which was bland rice topped with what seemed like an overcooked rice crust. The service was somewhat slow, but the prices are very reasonable.
I was expecting a lot more given it s a Michelin guide restaurant and working in food marketing, I was rather disappointed by the presentation and quality of some of the dishes. I m not quite sure if they tried to modernize Persian food because they may have taken it too far in my opinion. The ghalieh tasted very different than all the ghaliehs I ve had in the past. The chicken and barbary was good, it was juicy. The tahdig was more like tahchin and the rice wasn t cooked well. The doogh tasted like what we buy from the supermarket. The service was great! Overall, I do not recommend this place. Hope they can make some improvement to their dishes.
Great restaurant! Food is very delicious and generous. Will definitely come back.
Delara is hands down the best Persian restaurant in Vancouver. The quality of the food, the taste of the food, and the creativity is superb. The atmosphere brings me back to my sweet childhood memories. I m so glad I found this gem in Vancity. Absolutely love it!
Excellent cuisine and very nice atmosphere in this amazing restaurant.
Delara is like a vacation for our family. Hearty & tasty foods. great atmosphere and service. highly recommend this place!
Fantastic! We had dinner there June 5, 2024. We had three starters, each as good as the next - marinated olives, flatbread with dips and roasted cauliflower. So good!! And three mains - saffron and mushroom stew (incredibly good), lamb shank and fesenjoon with duck leg. So good!! And the baklava with a twist - walnut and dare make an interesting addition. Go! It is fabulous, staff are wonderful, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed, given it s a Michelin mentioned place. Go!
The best Persian fusion food in Vancouver. You won t go wrong by dining in this restaurant. I love the food and the service. The chef is so friendly and down to earth and greets you like a guest when you re dining. My fave is the chicken barberry with saffron rice and my husband s favourite is the Fesenjoon.
Delara in Vancouver is fantastic! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were super friendly. Definitely worth a visit!
Its one of the restaurants in town that I will never go to again! The low quality with the highest price. Uncooked duck in stew showed no experienced chef in the kitchen. Even the chicken didnt taste as good as we expected. Dont waste your time & money!
Perfecttt
Dine out Vancouver dinner was delicious and unique Persian food a must-try!
Delicious!! Not a very traditional menu but everything is fresh and flavorful. The dips were very good, the bread was freshly baked, tahdig was perfection, beef short ribs was a special and it was tender and flavorful too. And the cookie that came with the ice cream tasted like a baklava - amazing!! I will be back!
Excellent! Amazing! Awesome! Food : 5/5
The food here is unique and always exceptional. I love the decor and vibe.
Kirsten and I were looking for a light meal today and decided to give Delara a try a local Michelin-recommended restaurant we hadn t visited yet. Best decision of the day. When our server Pedro welcomed us, he did so with the genuine warmth reserved for childhood friends. He brought us a bottle of complimentary sparkling water and it was the first chapter of a perfect meal commercial bubbly can leave one bloated, but their house brand has just enough sparkle to make it a treat. We chose to share two appies the koofteh and the grilled sourdough flatbread with seasonal dips, and they were both absolutely delicious. The meatballs were moist and flavourful, the flatbread aromatic and fresh, and the pair of dips were so delectable that we used the last bits of flatbread to wipe the bowls clean. There s literally nothing we would have changed about our visit, and we ll absolutely be back to try an entrée on date night.
Ive not made it in for dinner yet, but I cant get enough the lamb sandwich at lunch before I head into work myself. The dips and bread are all fantastic and I had a carrot and chicken leg stew the other day that was super tasty!
As a Persian who eats these foods on regular basis I would say we enjoyed all of foods. Some had a little twist on like baghali ghatogh but it was delicious still. Also the ice cream was an a very low sugar as someone who s been eating less sugar in general was a great choice. So my overall experience was amazing I would definitely go back again when I m in town.
Delicious food, well balanced taste, nice wine selection, amazing service.
I like the character and culture of this restaurant, the atmosphere is great, and the food and desserts are healthy with dried lime and barberries, fresh herbs, nuts and seeds, yogurt and aromas of saffron, turmeric, rose and sumac. Small footprints, Vernus
Amazing service and food! Highly recommend :) and I d like to visit again!
Drinks were good. The bread and spreads were the only positive thing about the food. The chicken dish was bland, saffron crispy rice and salmon were alright, lacking a depth in flavor. Expected better for the price.
I cant say enough good things about Delara restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. Kayla was a true gem, ensuring our party of 8 had a fantastic dining experience. The food was absolutely exquisite. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. Every bite was a culinary delight. The baklava is the tastiest I have ever eaten in my life. The restaurants ambiance was also lovely, adding to the overall experience. Thank you, Delara, for a beautiful Sunday Brunch celebrating our oldest sons birthday.
The food was flavourful with some unique touches (like the rice with two types of rice, the topmost yellow part being fried to a good crunchy texture akin to the bottom of stone pot rice). The lamb shank was excellent, the beef dish had more than enough of a tangy green sauce, and the other dishes that friends had (like the trout and duck) were very good as well. The roasted cauliflower was excellent too not greasy like in other places where it s been obviously deep fried (which are also delicious but oily). One of our friends has a dairy/gluten/egg/soy allergy that s always a challenge at restaurants, but our server Maggie was absolutely amazing by checking with the kitchen several times on what he could order, even going so far as to supply him with a thin rice wafer cracker for dipping the hummus and other dips we ordered, while the rest of us had bread. Even for dessert, he was served sorbet that wasn t on the menu because he couldn t have any desserts from the menu. It s not a cheap place though, and our bill came out to $86/person. Aside from each person having an entree (there were 10 of us), we also shared appetizers and desserts, and all but one person had a drink each. Speaking of which, the Persian drinks were very good. The savoury yogurt drink though, is probably something you d really need to like before you should order it to accompany your meal.
I am not sure how I can explain the wonderful experience I had in Delara! I have been there several times for lunch and dinner. I have tried different kinds of food and have always been surprised by the wonderful taste! I am Persian but I love the modern Persian food served in Delara. It tastes excellent and delicious (I have shared some photos I took recently). I love how they care about the beautiful details and I am so happy with the portion of rice (as I could see in the review), which is so much that I always have some leftovers from my stew or any other main dish. I tried the seasonal dips with the seedy sourdough flatbread today, which was terrific! I also loved the Cutlet! I had Chicken with Barberries plus Kookoo Sabzi, which are both my favorite dishes in Delara. I highly recommend trying both! I have enjoyed talking to the chef and the other people working there. They are so lovely and friendly. Today, I asked them about the recipe and they were so patient and kind with me, making sure I had my answers :) I spent Nowrouz there for dinner and loved the fantastic special menu that night and the beautiful cookies box! (I shared the photo). As a Persian who lives in Vancouver, I am so proud of them, not just because of Michelin, which is well deserved, but also because they could introduce Persian food very well to many people in Vancouver!
Delicious food, expert wine pairing, and excellent service! Merci Melanie!
Fabulous! Everything is freshly prepared with obvious utmost care. Presentation and atmosphere is superb. Chef Bardia is the nicest host too. We recommend highly!
Amazing food!!!! Try their bread for sure, Fesenjoon is so awesome and the lamb sandwich and the Koko sabzi sandwich taste great!! Love this place
Michelin Recommended.
Amazing food and service but I was really upset that they put two living fish together in a tiny vase as a decoration. It was really off-putting and cruel that they arent taking care of the fish. Used to be my favorite restustant in Vancouver but Im not sure Ill be back.
Exquisite flavours
My favourite place in Vancouver forever, I was married to a Persian for a couple years, and the only good thing about him. It was his culture, I adore Persian cuisine and has become part of my life. This place really brings up the best of the history of the cuisine at its finest! I absolutely adore the staff and the food it s made with love.
Since I dont want to delete my previous review, I would like to add about my most recent experience: As a dedicated patron of Delara, my recent visit left me feeling quite underwhelmed. We eagerly ordered the Ghalieh with rice and Sabzi polo mahi for our main courses. However, upon the arrival of the Ghalieh, we expected the Sabzi polo to follow promptly. Unfortunately, it did not, and as the food grew cold, we reluctantly began our meal, finding the ghalieh to be absolutely delicious, deserving of a 10/10 rating. Regrettably, my husbands Sabzi polo was significantly delayed, and when it finally arrived, the rice was still undercooked, requiring another 10-15 minutes to become palatable. In reflecting on past experiences, I couldnt help but wish that the owner had been overseeing the kitchen to ensure such issues were promptly addressed. On the other hand, our server failed to check on our satisfaction until it was time for payment, and when we voiced our concerns about the rice, her response was polite but lacked attentiveness to our concern. Despite this disappointing experience, I hope that our feedback will be taken seriously to prevent similar disappointments for future patrons. ****** 10/10 Went there with group of foodie and very picky friends and guess what?! Everyone loved their food!! Not even a single negative feedback! (We have already planned to re-visit at least once a month) Quality was GREAT, taste was AMAZING and service/servers were VERY FRIENDLY. Also their kitchen is open concept so you can see your plate is made with so much LOVE and PASSION! I am not exaggerating if I tell you this was the most satisfying Persian dining experience I ve had in Vancouver for the past 15 years!! I would like to congratulate their whole team for showcasing the food and culture in the best way possible! THANK YOU!
Great atmosphere, great service. Food is really good. I enjoyed it a lot. The rice is great and the cauliflower too
Just a lovely resto with dishes that layer flavour upon flavour.
Opportunity missed We tried this place as it was a recommendation and was a mention by Michelin when they visited last. The food was unique and presented well what was missing was service and explanations. The dishes are quite large and filling so I would definitely share (which we did not) . Service could be more engaging and help as I was out my league with how the menu worked, drinks etc.
The taste of the food was excellent and delicious. However, the portion of rice served with the stews was significantly less compared to the volume of the stews. The portion of stew was abundant for one person, while the rice portion was insufficient for one person, and the prices were very high. Its good for a one-time trial.
Beautiful place, food was great, service was very friendly. Have been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. The waiter gave us great recommendations and was very knowledgeable on the food. We had the Fesejoon duck, short ribs (special menu), sourdough and dips, and baklava for dessert. Everything was so tasty and we were full to the brim! Will go back again
Overall experience was good. The food taste good and the atmosphere is nice BUT I didnt like their twist into the persian foods. There are some traditional persian dishes that are classic, and I dont expect their main ingredients to be different. I ordered Gheyme, and one of the main ingredients is yellow split pea. The dish came with lentils, and I was confused. I had to ask to make sure that I had the correct dish, and the waitress was insisting that this is Gheyme, and as a persian customer, I found it very annoying someone explaining to me what Gheyme looks like. She did mentioned that the chef is making the persian dishes with a twist but I believe if you want to change one of the key ingredients of a food, you may as well find a new name for it to avoid confusion.
Delara restaurant is the best/most unique Persian restaurant Ive ever experienced. It flawlessly blends the flavors of North American cuisine with authentic Persian dishes, creating a truly remarkable dining experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Incredible cuisine and very delicious food. Specially Minas soup which reminded me of my mothers soup. Will come back again and again for sure!
Experience a different delicious taste
The food at this restaurant was exceptional, making it a must-visit destination. The Fesenjoon stood out as particularly outstanding. While the roasted chicken and Lamb Sandwich may not reach the pinnacle of Michelin-starred fare, the Fesenjoon was undeniably top-notch. Our server was incredibly friendly and polite, always wearing a smile. However, the overall service pace for drinks, food, and the check was notably slow, and our water glasses remained unfilled. Additionally, it was unexpected to be charged for a birthday dessert, a rarity in establishments of this caliber. Despite these hiccups, the food s thrilling and exotic flavors were so memorable that they overshadow the less favorable aspects. Nonetheless, these points of feedback are worth the restaurant s attention for future improvement.
Been here a few times for both lunch and dinner. Everything Ive tried has been very flavorful. Good prices for both lunch and dinner, generous portions.
Amazing customer service and delicious foods, I ordered koofteh, lamb sandwich, grilled saffron rice with chicken. All was well prepared and cooked in best condition. Only concern was the portion of meals. Portions was very small for me and to be honest, I left there satisfied but not full
Exceptional food, warm attentive service, will be coming back again
Quality, elevated, and elegant. Always a great eating experience when we visit. You know an establishment is serving quality when you can eat generous portions and still feel great afterwards.
The food and atmosphere are amazing at Delara. Nice job everyone!
Delara has long held the crown as my go-to dining haven, a place where Ive savored lunch and dinner delights over twenty times in a single year. However, its with a heavy heart that Ive observed a noticeable decline in both service and culinary excellence in recent months. Gone are the days when the menus changes sparked excitement; now, they seem to be nothing more than mundane, repetitive tweaks. The once vibrant and distinctive flavors, particularly of the beef Ghalyeh, have unfortunately faded, leaving a dish that lacks its unique character. Moreover, the floor service has become disorganized and inefficient, to the extent that our dining experience was marred by the simultaneous arrival of starters and main courses, compounded by lengthy waits. Despite these challenges, my belief in Chef Bardias extraordinary talent remains unwavering. I am convinced that with a renewed focus and dedication from him, Delara can recapture its former glory and continue to enchant diners with its exceptional culinary artistry.
A new favourite for me and my wife. Amazing food, very interesting and tightly curated wine list, and a lovely clean atmosphere. Great service from Mel
Yesterday I went to Delara with my family for the first time. From the moment you enter the place, you get a good vibe from the atmosphere. However, the good experience ends there. This restaurant does not serve Persian food. It could not be named as the cuisine of the region either cause it had no spices. The food was overpriced for the portion and the taste. We ordered the Gheymeh which I am not sure why they had called the dish Gheymeh when it had NOTHING similar to the dish. It s like going to a Modern American restaurant, getting mac & cheese and not having mac or cheese in the dish lol. We also ordered the barberry Mimosa which was basically mimosa with 5 pieces of barberries in the drink. It was not blended or tasted like barberries at all. To sum up: DO NOT waste your money and time and dine somewhere else. At least you will leave not feeling hungry and disappointed.
I ordered Fesenjoon with duck - it was incredibly sour and I felt sick after eating it. I know this is a very tricky dish to balance due to the mixture of pomegranate paste and walnuts and sugar. But this is possibly the worst fesenjoon I ve ever had. They also didn t ask how the food was and even after I gave them feedback about how bad the food was, they just said it was batch made so nothing can be done.
In the midst of savoring your Persian fusion feast, Where each dish boasts a tapestry of flavors at least. While delighting in the rainbow trout and Sabzi polo blend, And relishing in the hearty Koofteh Tabrizi, a friend. However, amidst this culinary delight, A yearning for service to elevate the night. From promptness in seating to attentiveness in care, To ensure each diner feels valued and rare. Improving service means attending to each guests need, Ensuring a seamless experience, indeed. From greeting with warmth to bidding adieu with a smile, Its the details that elevate, even by a mile.
Cute restaurant, good standard service. Starter Grilled Octopus was delicious, olives were tasty. Main course were average good. Tasty chicken but halibut dish was very salty. 2 out of 4 main dishes. Cocktail Drinks were ok. Food
Wish I had pictures of the rest of this meal, was blown away by the servers. So friendly and described everything very clearly. Lots of interesting and delicious non alcoholic beverages. The bread and dips were divine, can understand why they re in the Michelin guide!
Delightful in every way. Feels like a miniature vacation to lunch here. Pleasant atmosphere and warmly welcoming. Forget the usual lunch hustle and treat yourself to tasting foods so vivid, satisfying and intriguing!
Im not sure what other raters based their opinions, or how familiar they are with Middle Eastern food, but we found Delara to be a top to bottom gem! The tastes are authentic and delicious. Great value for the cost. Service is down home friendly. Well be back!
Food was good, but not excellent. The restaurant was cute and the decor was nice though.
Excellent service and very tasty food. Good atmosphere and great mix of meat and veggie options with interesting flavours. Dips and flatbread were awesome as were the olives. Absolutely would go again!
I really enjoyed my time at Delara restaurant The food was fantastic and the service was great.
Amazing tasty foods, served in the best way possible. The only issue is the tables are so close to each other and you dont have much privacy.
We had a lovely dinner here. The Persian Love Cake was to die for! Thank you for making our experience special!
This place is a good place, but I think thats about it. For the recognition they got from Michelin, I expected more, and they really advertise that Michelin recognition. The crispy saffron rice was cold when served, and wasnt crispy, more rubbery. The beef gheymeh itself was really flavourful and I really enjoyed this dish, although the potato sticks I find didnt add much. My friend got the roasted chicken leg and barberries, same story with the rice, but the chicken had a really nice flavour, if I went back, I would get this over the beef. Our server was really cheerful and easy to banter with, she had good knowledge about the food and was just great overall. The place itself has cool décor and is overall really comfortable. I enjoyed my meal here, though not as good as I thought it would be walking in. I dont think Id come back intentionally, but if I was in the area and was hungry, Id consider it. 3.5/5
