Cactus Club Cafe Bentall 5 in Vancouver

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this location and will not be returning. I made a reservation for 7:30 PM, but upon arriving, I was told my table was being prepared. While waiting with my family, we noticed several customers who arrived after us were seated promptly, despite multiple available tables in the dining area, including the one we were eventually given. When I raised this with the manager a blond man in black attire he was dismissive and unprofessional, inaccurately claiming my reservation was for 7:45 PM and that we were lucky to be seated. I later confirmed my reservation was indeed at 7:30 PM. When I brought this to his attention, he offered a condescending apology and failed to address my concerns appropriately. To make matters worse, my steak, ordered medium, arrived well done, and it took over 10 minutes to flag down a server to address the issue. By that point, I had lost trust in the kitchen. While another manager in a grey suit eventually stepped in to apologize and offer desserts, which was appreciated, the overall experience had already been soured. I ve had great experiences at other Cactus Club locations, including Coquitlam and Marine Way, but this location falls far below the standard. The front reception and management team require significant training in customer service to ensure all guests feel respected and valued.

I really liked the location of Cactus Café on Burrard Street it s perfectly situated in downtown Vancouver, not far from Canada Place and Waterfront Station. The staff were professional, and the overall experience was great. I visited in the afternoon to meet a friend, and everything went smoothly. The meal was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Whether you re planning an evening dinner with a friend or a weekend drink, I d highly recommend this place!

After all but being turned away from a close - by restaurant, my friend and I arrived very hungry and a bit on guard considering our last experience. We were seated immediately at a beautiful booth with a view. We ordered the prawn crunch roll and avocado dip to share, which we both loved and enjoyed immensely as we were so hungry. I got the Baja tacos as a main and loved the flavor. We shared a delectable eggnog cheesecake for dessert, and overall our dining experience was excellent.

Had dinner on last friday. Food was ok. Service was fine. Thanks to staff for in house drinks. Ambience was good. It will be great if the cafe start playing songs.

CACTUS CLUB BENTALL $46.19 VISA My bill for happy hour. 2 beer?? The waitress refused to accept error. She would not speak to the manager. The music was pounding as well. I paid full price during happy hour. Is that because the waitress thinks old people are stupid? Yes Im a senior. This law firm will not return.

Spent Happy Hour here with my sister last weekend. It was Taylor Swift night so lots of Swifties and very entertaining. Food was really good (appies) and service was excellent. Had a great time and enjoyed the happy hour prices.

I waited 20 mins for a text message to say I could be seated, host told me to wait to the side. 20 mins later I asked how long until our table was ready, she said I had already been seated, and kept repeating it. Got another host who then told me that I would have to sit where a broken heater is and if I accept, I cannot be moved if it s too hot. I asked for another seat instead. They then took me to the outside seating area right to the far end, there were no heaters there and the table and chairs were/are blocking the fire exit. I suggested that this is dangerous to the server, she laughed, I said no seriously, worksafe would have an issue with that. She said she would tell the manager. It was cold, someone was smoking right next to us so we left before even ordering. At the very least sort out the blocked fire exit, it s dangerous.

Fantastic food and service as always. The heated and covered waiting area outside was a nice touch on a chilly evening. This place is always busy so plan to put some effort into getting in. Came for the lettuce wraps and poke bowl which never disappoint. Crème brûlée wasn t the best though. That surprised me. That s one thing Earl s does better for sure. Still a great night out though!

Oh. Ok. This was the house of yes. No more. I ordered the Wagu Carpaccio and it came out still frozen. The waitress did not come back for over 20 minutes and by then it was just cold. Ambiance nice. Energy great. Just didnt deliver. Sorry Cactus Club.

Ordered drinks at the bar. Waited very long for service. Got charged for the wrong drink and got overcharged. Got served cold water in a warm glass that smelled of soap. Couldn t get hold of the server to attempt to fix any of this.

Service is slow and limited 2h reservation. Love the tofu bowl, crispy tofus and fresh edamame.

The atmosphere here is very good. Service was good; nice selection of items to choose from. Food was also good. Id visit again whenever I come back.

Had a fantastic experience at Cactus Club on Burrard! The chicken bowl was truly delicious perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients and bold, satisfying flavors. The service was attentive, friendly, and added to the overall positive vibe. The restaurant s atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making it a great spot for lunch or dinner in Vancouver. The only downside was a bit of a wait, but that s to be expected with a popular place like this. Overall, I d highly recommend it for a tasty meal in the city!

We had Hannah M at the Burrard location as server. Unequivocally the high water mark in service and dining experience anywhere in north America in the last 12 months. She is an exceptional person, and made the evening perfection. Dont let her GO anywhere. Absolute PRO and a breath of fresh air. Top shelf!!

This is an amazing spot for any occasion and is suitable for almost anyone. Cactus Club Bentall 5 offers reasonably priced comfort food from different cuisines, from chicken burgers to Mediterranean bowls to rice bowls. The drinks, too, are affordable, and this is my friends and I s favourite spot for Bellinis with some appetizers. The restaurant does not try and, in my view, has no need to be fancy. It always makes for quality meals and time and money well spent - what more can you ask for. What makes this Cactus Club superb, however, is its customer service. I never felt neglected or ignored - staff is always around and understand when to come and, what;s more important to me, when not to come with questions about my experience so far. Recently I had an unfortunate incident in this location which was not Cactus Club s direct fault; however, Dom, who was the supervisor/manager on duty took full responsibility and offered thorough assistance, turning the experience from terrible to interesting and wonderful. I look forward to visiting you again during this festive season!

Ok, let me explain the 1 star food review. My friend and I both ordered their $70 steak and lobster, when it came to the table the green beans were virtually raw, the mashed potatoes were as cold as if they came out of a fridge! And my steak was over cooked, there wasnt even any butter for the extremely small lobster tail, of course we spoke to the manager who was very gracious and understanding, he ordered us both new plates of the steak and lobster, and when the plates came to the table there was a 1000 times improvement plus the manager gave us a free calamari that was delicious and a couple free drinks, The restaurant definitely redeemed itself and I would definitely eat there again

Delicious food, friendly service, modern atmosphere.

I usually don t come to cactus club because I don t like the atmosphere or the food much.. but I was in the area last week with my mom so we decided to stop by for lunch and our server Nia made our time worthwhile and more! She gave us GREAT recommendations that matched our pallets well, she was extremely professional and has a lovely spirit, she accommodated my moms dietary needs fully as well. We ll be back to this location for sure!

Not a bad spot to get a quick bite, food was very good. It was super crowded on a Friday at 4:30pm and it appears there is a happy hour from 3-5pm, which explains that! Our server out our order in quickly so we got happy hour prices on the drinks and food. Portions are good size and the drinks were done correctly. Food was very fresh. Only complaint was that it is VERY Noisy! And the bathrooms were not that clean. But, our server was fast and efficient. The food was very good and fresh. The Ravioli and Prawn Trio was delicious! Hubby got the Tuna Poke Bowl and he said it was very good.

We had a reservation for 8 people at 12:15 pm on Wednesday. After ordering fairly promptly we did not receive our food until about 1:15 pm. I was hosting a business meeting with my team and this put us behind schedule for the day. In fact, I had to rush off to my next meeting before some colleagues had finished eating. To be clear: Our server was fine. He did the best he could (I assume.) It was the total service delivery that was lacking. While I appreciate that it is hard to hire, train, and keep staff, I also anticipate that if you take a reservation (i.e. you seat people for service) that you have the required staff to provide the service at the expected pace. Lastly, you sat us, a party of 8, at a table that barely fit 7 people. Our last-arriving colleague had to sit on a chair in the throughway aisle beside the table. Not conducive to a relaxing and entertaining meal.

We had exceptional service last night from Aimee! One of the best service experiences I ve ever had at ANY restaurant. She was friendly and asked if I wanted my burger cut in half when I ordered. I always like having it served that way but forget to ask so it was like she knew what I wanted! 5 stars all the way for Aimee.

This is our 1st night in Vancouver and the concierge at the Fairmont Hotel suggested that we go to the Cactus Club Cafe. We had the most amazing dinner. We had Danielle and Jacob as our amazing servers. The appetizers, drinks, dinner selections and desserts were incredible, truly delicious. The two servers made the dining experience and the entire night a wonderful memory that will make us want to return to Vancouver. A very special thank you from the Listers and Kaufmanns from N.E. I had an amazing experience at Cactus Club Bentall 5 tonight. My server Sakura was perfect, she was kind and very attentive. The bartenders Tim and Sarah S were great and accommodating. I will definitely be coming back.

Came here a couple weeks ago. Food was great, no problem. However, when it came to our bills, the waiter was very confused. At first we understood and thought he just made a small mistake, like charging the wrong person for a drink. Regardless, we moved past that and paid everything. However, after that, he came to us saying we didn t pay for another 2 chicken sandwiches. We did the calculations based off what we paid on the receipts and there was no more mistakes, where did the 2 chicken sandwiches come from? Even after saying he understood, the waiter said he had to charge us for the extra food. I don t know if we paid for someone else s table or what, but we were in a rush to leave so I just paid it. Regardless, they fleeced me out of another 60 bucks for no reason?

Came in at 11:00PM Tuesday Night. Ordered the Steak Frites, Calamari and Ceviche. All the food came out cold. Fries, Steak and Calamari under seasoned. What is the steak supposed to be seasoned with? Service was ok, but won t be back for the food.

The hostesses here are rude to singles. Every time i come in alone they try and hide me in the corner somewhere, never letting me sit in the front of house. Embarrassing service.

Upon being seated, we were looking at the drink menus waiting to have our orders taken. When our server came by, she did not introduce herself. she asked if we wanted anything to drink- we told her that we would like to order our drinks and appetizers to start. After placing the drink/ appetizer order we were hurried by our server into placing the order for our mains as well. Once our food arrived, our server never once came by to ask us how everything was. We asked for water numerous times which we never received, until the end. At the end of my sister s drink (tequila seltzer) she realized that she had the plastic from your soda machine nozzle that was labeled water in her drink, and there was red stuff floating around from it. We called the server over and she looked at the drink, laughed and just said it was the tab from the water dispenser, and the red stuff that was coated/ covered with is was just the dye. She offered us a new drink to which we declined as we were all disgusted and she just walked away. We didn t receive an apology or any further explanation. Personally, I find this to be a serious health code violation as it contaminated the drink as the water tab was unsanitary and in unkept condition. She could probably tell our mood was off after this incident because about 5 minutes later she said she ll talk to her manager to have this one drink comped. However, at the point, we were just completed grossed out and decided to leave earlier than anticipated. My sisters and I are all young Indian girls and I felt as though when I looked around and observed her helping other tables, she had a smile on her face and seemed as though she wanted to help them, and all those tables happened to be full of Caucasian people. When she came to our table, it seemed like it was a chore for her to be there. I felt as though I was being discriminated against because of the colour of my skin. This is not something that happens to me often, but when it does it s blatantly obvious. I have never been treated so rudely and received such terrible service at any cactus club before. After the service we received, it is unlikely that we will be returning, especially to this location Better training for your servers is highly recommended.

Happy hour drinks took about 20 minutes to come to the table. Everyone wanted more drinks but didnt want to wait. Happy hour food took 30 minutes to come out (understandable) if we hadnt order 2 salads and some fried food. Worst part was the disgusting group of diners behind us. They were from the UK or Ireland and were swearing every other word, burping loud and obnoxiously and even barking .. They seemed to know our server hence she didnt tell them but every other table in the patio was annoyed by them. I let her know on our way out and her facial expression showed she had other complaints as well.

I waited for more than 40 min to be served , I had to leave, even though people in the next table less than 2 feet way from me where being taken care of . If you are brown it s like you re invisible here .

VERY bad service. Ordered a piece of 6 layer cake as takeaway and when I got home I realized it was a very tiny piece. I am not happy with this. I paid 21 dollars for a tiny piece of cake, Basically got scammed.

I met up with a friend on a Friday during the lunch hour they can get really busy specially if you want a patio seat. We decided to just sit in the bar area was able get seated fairly quickly. I always order their chicken lettuce wrap.

That was horrible exprience with my wife with this customer service and we couldnt satand with this rude guy and when he saw we are leaving he just said Have a good day man and he didnt even try to hold us as a customer service . we went to JOEY exactly in front of them and they were PERFECT SHAME ON YOU .......

They have a great late night Happy Hour menu to select from. Everything we ordered was delicious and hot. The drinks were great, the service was great and the atmosphere is perfect for late night.

Located in the heart of Vancouver. The selection of food is very large and so are the portions. The service is very attentive and always there when you need it

Cactus Clubs are usually reliable, but our experience today at this Cactus Club location was horrendous enough to turn me off of the chain for a long while. We popped in for a late lunch and our server seemed friendly and on top of things at the start. I ordered a drink, then we ordered some pretty standard fare - a pasta dish and a steak. The server checked back for water and drink refills pretty regularly in the meantime. Someone else on staff came through and dropped off our mains. Upon cutting into what was supposed to be a medium steak, I instead encountered a very, very, beyond well-done, tough steak. No problem, mistakes happen. We flagged down our server, politely said Sorry, this is way, way overdone, he agreed and was apologetic, and he came back with a plate to grab the steak back, leaving me with my sides while a new steak was refired. Twenty-five minutes pass, during which my partner completely finishes his meal and our server disappears almost completely, bypassing our table all but one time to awkwardly clear my partners empty plate while ignoring me, not offering drink refills, or even just apologizing again and acknowledging that food will eventually come. While I dont really understand how a restaurant that cooks chicken and beef all day long could botch a steak so badly then try to serve it anyway, I was actually quite polite about the mistake nonetheless and would have been happy had lessons presumably from Hospitality 101 simply been followed, namely dont abandon the customer and maybe keep them happy with a drink in hand in the meantime. Instead, the server shut down and just made the situation unnecessarily awkward. Ultimately, we had to flag him down and tell him to just forget it, take it off the bill and bring us our cheque. Presumably the manager on duty then came over with the new steak in a box and apologized for the issue. I told her that it would have been fine had there been any effort made to actually check on us and keep us comfortable in the meantime, and she says that she understands and that You dont owe anything today. She then immediately follows that up with handing my partner a cheque for his food and asks whether he needs the machine. I tell her that we were eating together and this should have been one bill, to which she doubles down, Yes, yours is no charge, just his is left. Obviously we were there to enjoy a lunch together and we didnt get to do that, so this just came across as incredibly tacky. I dont want to be that guy, but I also cant help but wonder whether a different-sex couple would have been treated the same. Overall, this was such a disappointing experience. Front of house, the kitchen, and management all need to step it up. Gordon Ramsay would pop a forehead vein here.

The staff are friendly, patient and welcoming and the food is consistently yummy!

Despite there not being so much crowd, the service was very slow. We went on a Friday night so we expected a 30mins wait for the food. However the food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. The med bowl was really very average. I ve eaten med bowl at other locations but the quality here was just not the same.

We walked in expecting a more casual-cafe atmosphere, but were pleasantly surprised by an upscale, but laid-back, fine dining experience. The menu was diverse, which was great to meet a group of 6 s varied pallets. Yanni, our waiter, was fantastic. He was attentive, helped us adjust our orders to exactly what we wanted, and was so friendly while he did it. Highly recommend.

We were two people, walk-in just for drinks and had to wait for a table for around twenty minutes with no reason or explanation. Our waitress was nice. As soon as the bill was paid, no was cared any longer, it seemed.

I had an amazing experience during the happy hour with our server Devonte! He was so bubbly and we loved chatting with him. The wine was great and the dirty fries were also yummy :)

We came in yesterday for lunch and had the most amazing service we have had for a long time. Our servers name was coco and she just blew us away. She was very attentive and kind. I will definitely be coming back! Hope coco will be our server again in the future.

Kid-friendliness: They were kind enough to give us a booster seat and cut our meal in half so we could share since it doesnt appear to have a kid menu. I wouldnt usually take my 3 year old child here but we were in the area for a conference. The staff treated us kindly and with respect and did not treat us as if we were a nuisance which I deeply appreciated.

Love the location. Great for people watching.

I was in Vancouver for a conference. Brought my infant son with me. After just getting off the plane and quickly freshening up at the hotel, I needed to get dinner for my son and me. Cactus Club Cafe was right across the street from my hotel, so decided to eat here. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. This would be a fun place to go on a date or go out with friends. Although I was with my baby, the hostesses and server were quite accomodating, bringing me a high chair and trying to make my infant comfortable as he was cranky from the flight and all and not in the best mood. I tried some sort of mocktail, it was pricey but DELISH. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli with prawns, and it was probably the best dish I ever had in my life. it was excellent. Only critique is that it was not hot - I really like my hot food HOT. It was on the room temp side. I didnt say anything though because my baby was cranky and I just waned to eat quickly and settle in to my hotel room for the night. I also got mashed potatoes for my baby, but he didnt like it (hes into self-feeding foods and no longer into eating mushy or pureed food), but it was a HUGE portion for $4.75. Overall, Im a very picky eater, but I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, the service was great, the food and drinks fantastic.

Waitress directed each of us arriving at separate times in a party of two reservation to the wrong tables.

Our server was a rock star. She made this visit for us.

I came into Vancouver for the weekend, wandered into cactus club hoping to grab a spot at the bar and have some good steak, I got so much more!!! Tim is the most wonderful bartender I didn t even have to think with him it was like he knew exactly what I needed, I really appreciate stuff like that, he made it look so effortless!! And on top of that I got the filet steak and lobster and goodness it was perfect best meal I ve had in a long time, all while watching the playoffs game on the big screen. Superb foods, excellent customer service attendant.

The food was ok. The fish tacos were decent portions with good taste. The part that was lacking was the fries and the garden burger. The garden burger was very sloppy. Fries soft. The overall service was awesome. Waitress was very friendly and served us promptly. Very nice atmosphere in downtown Vancouver. Was nice being able to sit in the sun and watch all the business people go about their day. Vegetarian options: Garden Burger

I absolutely love this location. It s always amazing. The staff are great, friendly and always so accommodating. The food never disappoints, and the ambiance is amazing!

This place was fun. It was super busy. I suggest making reservations even for 2. The food was delicious. Our server was fantastic. Super tentative, friendly and overall great.

I was waiting for 10 mins outside the pickup counter, rang the bell 5 times. one guy saw me from inside of the store and started shaking his head, after 10 mins another guy came and when i told him that i was waiting here for 10 mins and no one even asked about the orders name, and his answer was we have other things to do and when i replied him back, he went crying to his manager that i was rude to him and the male karen DAVID, called himself as a manager but i dont think he is. He came up to me saying whats going on and i was rude to his guy, and after that he was like do i want the order or not, if i was there just to ring the bell . So this is their customer service. Earlier i gave them 5 star rating and this was the experience i had today and never i was treated like this before.

On our date night, my husband and I chose Cactus for dinner. It was a summer evening, so we decided to sit outside and enjoyed our meal in the pleasant weather. The server was friendly and provided excellent service. Although the food was good, I felt the burger could have had more flavor.

Great place and atmosphere.Interior design was very well done specially the SS and glass staircase to second floor. Service was well attended, drinks were always there Food was good, not spectacular. Overall always enjoy the chain where I can.

New favorite tacos! Loved the atmosphere and variety in the menu. The chipotle chicken tacos were so flavorful and tasty. Super friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend sitting on the patio. Cactus Club is a MUST for visiting Vancouver!

First time dining here while visiting Vancouver and it did not disappoint! Food, ambiance, service were all excellent! Highly recommend the fish tacos! Looking forward to visiting again when were in town.

I had an amazing server named Rodney. He made a sincere effort to connect with me. I came for a drink and dinner and I got a whole lot more than that. He is indispensable to this company and Cactus Club is very lucky to have him. Dining out is not just about the food and drinks . The opportunity to foster genuine connections with the guests will help build a loyal customer base. He goes above and beyond for his job and he truly cares and listens attentively to the guest he serves. This is my way of acknowledging him for showing up for his guests authentically and creating connections with his coworkers and the guests that he serves. He has a lot to offer and I have no doubt that he will succeed and anything he puts his heart into and right now it s Cactus Club.

The ambiance of the venue is truly remarkable, complemented by great service. However, I deducted one star due to the steep pricing. Although the two dishes we ordered, along with a non-alcoholic beverage and a beer, were flavorful, the total bill of $90 felt disproportionate to the portion sizes provided.

Great happy hour

Always a great spot for a business lunch and a fun spot for after work or nice dinner with a date or family. If you can, request upstairs dining, very private area.
