The locals favourite, Come as you are and enjoy creative flavourful meals using local and sustainable ingredients. Chambar has an award winning cocktail list, thoughtful wine list, and known widely for a large selection of Belgian beer and the best of local craft beer. A beautiful summer terrance is the perfect place to spend an evening. For those dining alone, the bar is a friendly place to be welcomed.
Recently enjoyed the Sunday brunch with a few friends. The DIY mimosas were a big hit; the orange juice was super fresh and delicious. Mussels are definitely one of their best dishes. I had a dairy free fricassée and it was absolutely top notch. No bad dishes on the menu, and they have among the best wine menus in the city. Special occasion, or just a quick light meal. You can’t go wrong here.
Last Thursday had dinner at 8pm with friends that were visiting from LA (reserved the day before and they couldn’t fit me in between 6 and 7 which was fine). The four of us shared five dishes, and we just absolutely enjoyed all of our selections, with the Moules Frite Coquotte being on the top of the list. We ordered our dessert just past 10:30pm, and the manager let us stayed and chatted until they absolutely have to let us go (keep in mind they’re closed at 10pm!). Staff were friendly and attentive, so made our mini reunion worthwhile.
This place is so lovely. Mussels and French fries are the perfect combination. We spent our anniversary here and we’ll remember it for a long time. Make sure you book a reservation!
Exceptional service, cocktails and food. Love how they have remained relevant and retained standards for over 20 years. Some of my best memories in Vancouver include visits to Chambar (um, did I hallucinate whole roast suckling pigs in their parking?!?).
This has been a staple in Vancouver and a solid dining spot for years. I came here recently to try their set menu that was around in the summer and it did not disappoint. For the price point you get quite a lot of food and a great dining experience. They deliver on the food, it’s properly cooked and flavoured, the service is top notch, and their cocktails are delicious. Will definitely look forward to another visit in the future.
Came for the summer series three course tasting menu and between three of us we sampled all six of the options. To start the confit albacore tuna with peach salad was artfully presented but nothing special taste-wise. If I had paid $27 for this dish off the regular menu I would have been disappointed. The grilled radicchio and fennel salad on the other hand was quite impactful and fully enjoyed. The pan seared Arctic Char with salt cod brandade main course was excellent and the highlight of the meal. Presentation was picture perfect and the good sized portion of fish was perfectly cooked. The brandade was delicious and something I had never tasted before. My son had the game hen three ways and wasn't impressed, finding the portion to be too small and the hen to be on the dry side. The chocolate burnt basque cheesecake and BC berry pavlova for dessert were both very good and again very nicely presented. Overall the dinner was very good and very good value for the $49 price.
Came here in a week day evening for their $50 set menu. You get to choose from two items for each course and there's a total of 3 courses. I ordered the char for my main and it was really good. My husband ordered the hen 3 ways but it's very salty. I didn't like it that much. The dessert, Palova was very well made and so delicious. The chocolate cheesecake was okay, nothing too surprising. Overall, the meal was good except for the hen dish. Server was attentive and the restaurant wasn't loud.
This is at the pinnacle of food experiences. Everything (food, service, cocktails, wine, ambiance, and prices are reasonable for what you get) here was wonderful. We happened upon the restaurant on a recent trip to Vancouver and had an amazing meal towards the end of a night. We ended up going back for brunch a few days later and it was equally lovely. Go here. You will not be disappointed. (photos are from both brunch and dinner)
Inspiring menu and attentive service
I have never been excited to come here because of the vibe, but the paella failed big time. I think its a crime to use the word paella. Its more of a salad. The taste is chaotic. Bitter, no tomato sauce, and they put cheese?? This dish needs to be removed from the menu. Its not great for a first-timer like me, but i will give Chambar another chance. Sorry, the paella was a letdown. Save your $23 and go find a good paella.
Went there for my staff Christmas dinner and the service was excellent and good delicious. We had a 4 course meal and there were vegetarian options available. Gendered bathrooms.
We had a wonderful experience with our meal and drinks here. Ordered the bison ravioli, lingcod and duck and was blown away by the flavours. Our server was also prompt and attentive. Would give 5 stars if not for the mouse running around under the bar stools for the duration of the meal. When we mentioned this to our server, he was not phased at all which led us to question how hygienic the restaurant and kitchen really is
Six months ago, I had the chance to try their lamb stew. The meat was incredibly tender and simply melted in my mouth. Just two days ago, I sampled their desserts, and they were absolutely delightful. If you ever find yourself in Vancouver, I highly recommend visiting this place!
They have good bison ravioli and choices for beers. I asked where the washroom is to one of their staffs and he just node his head saying there while pointing to my table, doesn t help me so I just wandered back and found it. I don t expect getting that kind of service from $200 we spent in this place, maybe he s having a bad day or something but I won t go back.
LIES! Unfortunately we were told that the Foie Gras was ethically sourced which is such a lie. This was when we heard the next table asking about it and the waiter went on a whole rant about its origin and being humane OMG What a lie to people s faces, one can only imagine what happens behind the scenes.
Great food, incredible staff, busy and warm atmosphere, a great choice for your dining experience whether in a group or a more intimate experience. It wont matter what you order, every dish is a great choice.
I visited this restaurant 5 times, and I will say it is one of the best restaurants I have been. It is so beautiful with very good services. Mussel is their specialist, and you can see many of their customers order this dish. Tomato spicy sauce mussels definitely suits people who love spicy, but I prefer the cream sauce with bacon one. The cream sauce is the light liquid kind, not the thick one, and the bacon inside is high quality bacon, I just cannot stop drinking the sauce, I wish they have spaghetti as a option with this sauce. Pork chop was surprisingly amazing, seafood soup was a little too sour for me.
Great beer selection and delicious cuisine highly recommend it!
Just perfection.
The duck was amazing paired with a great selection of beers and great service.
Still one of the best spots for a great meal . Consistently excellent !
Great place to gather with friends. The atmosphere is lovely. I bumped into great friends there. The drinks are awesome and food delicious. The service was impecable, and all staff were so kind. I will come back for sure. Food
I came for brunch with 2 other people. The food was phenomenal, I wish I could have ordered that again. So frickin guud. But the service really toned it down. My wife had to wait a long time to get some sugar for her coffee and the waitress never came around again once the food was dropped. My sister in law didnt get another order of OJ like she wanted and we had to wait a looong time after the dishes were picked up to get our check. I get it, it was busy on the weekend and service takes a hit when youre in the weeds but its the little things. but itd absolutely go again
The food is amazing,it was beyond my expectations. I also ordered a cocktail dusk to dawn, it was good too tropical taste but not too sweet.Highly recommended, will try dinner next time.
Great place when you crave quality food.
Amazing gourmet culinary choices. Wonderful atmosphere with superb service.
Went here today for brunch with a friend. Ambience is beautiful and cozy, Foods were really great with reasonable price! Staffs were truly amazing and super friendly Especially the woman with white dress who helped to get a table at front door and our server, a man who had curly hair! He kindly explained the menus so that we can make better choices and also recommended the better drinks:) Impeccable experience! Thank you for offering such amazing customer experience!
Great beer collection, fantastic potatos, but NO KETCHUP!!!! My girlfriend love this place, but for me, everything is tasteless without ketchup so terrible experience for me
Came in for dinner. We started with a cheese tray. Nice selection and presentation. Here was the service glitch. Really should have cheese knives on the board. Also no sharing plates were brought. Had Mussels Congolaise. An abundance of mussels and a sauce that I had never tasted before. Enjoyed the dish. The accompanying fries were nicely season and had a mayo/aioli dip. My partner had the lamb shank. Very Mediterranean meets Persia. Ample portion. Nice crisp BC white blend for the wine. If we had another night, wed have come back again.
Love this restaurant. The views, the bar, the staff, the food. The waffles are a sweet steal with lots of tasty and fascinating sauces like lavender and tasty bacon-tasting ones
Creative evolving menu keeps us coming back...
Damn really impressive night out here, super classy spot
Great selection of drinks, slower dinner service- server asked for dinner requests after 1 hour. Overall, nice ambience
Great customer service and food. Upscale vibe with modest pricing. Our waiter Scott was fantastic!
The lamb shank is one of the best, if not the best, in the city. But opted for the lingcod this time which did not disappoint. Fave place for pre Canucks game dinners.
Great spot! The food and service is always top notch
Food here is always delicious. Only ever been for brunch but would love to try their dinner menu. The prices are very reasonable in comparison too other similar restaurants. The ambience is pretty normal. Nothing special.
Paid a long overdue visit for an early birthday dinner. The surroundings are still sultry and sexy. Sadly, the server taking care of us tonight, Chris, must be having an off day. His perfunctory attitude had its sobering effects on the table. The bright spot was the scrumptious bites from the kitchen. Couldnt help but notice, as we were leaving, walking past the front reception, the young lady inexplicably fell silent. Perhaps a meeting with the staff reminding them of the basics of customer service would be in order before the beginning of the holiday season.
Had the Le Canard, a duck confit with ricotta and goats cheese gnocchi , celery and hazelnut salad and shaved green apples Topped that off with chic-a-cherry cola, which is Havana Club 3yr rum, Luxardo Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur, house kola syrup, lime, egg white | Rich & fruity | (I did not want the egg whites and a foam was used instead). I ll give them 4.5/5. Maybe a repeat visit and trying other menu items will convince me to give a 5 . I hear the Moules Frites Congolaise (mussels) are a must try. Look forward to that and so much more. Bonus: the paid parking lot opposite is very cheap, $18 + $6+ tax for all day parking till 11.30pm on event days. Ambience was warm and the service was great, seated quicker than the original wait time, meal was out on time, and the bar man was attentive. Dietary restrictions: They replaced the milk in my drink with foam. Pretty sure they can accommodate other dietary restrictions Parking: Opposite underground parking for $18 plus tax. Kid-friendliness: Not for kids. Ambience suggests it s for adults, as it opens at 5pm and serves alcohol. Receipt also has a hashtag #CivilizedDebauchery.
Great atmosphere, way more spacious than expected. The food was really good, and the staff were professional and caring.
Unbeatable and consistent since the early 2003 . Professional Service , welcoming, amiability and smiles proved a perfect training aiming to satisfy client. Enjoying the food quality and diversity are never undermined by anything that would not make the experience , each time, unique.
Beautiful restaurant with an amazing wine list. The menu isnt huge, but it includes many seafood options, and all are delicious. I recommend the lingcod. It was delicious. My friend had the muscles and she loved it. The portion was huge! Easy walk to the hockey game or QE, so it is a busy location. I recommend a reservation.
Parking: Best way to arrive is via SkyTrain! Food
Best place for breakfast in Van! Service, staff and amazing food.
Awesome as always, they were able to squeeze my daughter and I in before a Canuck game and get us out in time for the puck drop
Absolutely love this place, the dishes are all so thoughtfully prepared with a beautiful range of flavours, making every plate a uniquely delicious experience. The ambiance in the restaurant is warm and gorgeous with the exposed brick walls, high ceilings on the top floor and chic decor. The beet carpaccio and ravioli small plates blew me away, and the poached pear desert was the perfect way to end the night. Our server Molly was very friendly, attentive and ahead of the game as she always seemed to know the perfect timing for when to come back and check in on us to see how we were enjoying our food and whether we wanted to order something else. The cocktails were also brilliant, I think my favourite one was Palm of my hand. Definitely looking forward to coming back here again!
Went for brunch, it was busy but service was great. Menu for brunch is unique, but everything was delicious.
Was a bit let down at Chambar which was always at favourite of mine and would always recommend to friends or family. . Was shocked to see how small the Belgian beer menu is now and also the food menu is basically a page and a half only.
Ive been coming to Chambar for a few years. Never often, but only because I forget how great it is. Some of the best soms in the city when it comes to reasonably priced wine. Always incredible service (tonight Angie was exceptional to the exceptional. Total rock star!) And food thats priced at Cactus but tastes like Hawksworth. Giant fan of the team here. Thanks for the consistently amazing experiencea.
Amazing service, ambiance & food! Accommodated gluten free so well! Very cozy! Great drinks also!
Very authentic french cuisine experience with an excellent wine selection. Our group thanks the restaurant for giving us this beautiful experience. Highly recommend mussels in spicy tomato-chipotle/cilantro sauce and duck confit of course!
The food was amazing, staff was very polite and the atmosphere was pretty pleasing!! Would definitely be back ASAP!!
We came for brunch and had a great experience! One of the best savory brunches Ive had. The savory Moroccan inspired dishes lead perfectly into a Belgian waffle washed down with fresh juice and great coffee. Our waiter was knowledgeable and a delight. Im definitely planning on coming back as soon as I get the chance
Excellent service and delicious food
Excellent service and food, dependable staple in the Vancouver fine dining scene. I had the arctic char which was perfectly done. Everything else was amazing. Great brussel sprouts, grilled salad, fries, dessert, duck confit, tagine, poussin, cant go wrong with anything on the menu.
Not impressed with the regressive menu. Also, way over priced for what it is. Their staff however are excellent.
Good food and ambiance.
I recently had my first dining experience at Chambar, and it was fantastic! I ordered the Congolaise mussels, and the base was so rich and flavorful. Highly recommend The service was beyond exceptional. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout my visit. I cant wait to go back.
The first time I went here it was amazing but I went again and the food just wasn t as good.
Great service and the pavlova was
Excellent as always, we ve been coming here since 2003 and the quality of food and experience never waivers. A solid go to favourite.
Amazing place, was pleased by the quality of the food and how fresh and clean the place was. Most importantly, the two bartenders Nick and Brian were extremely service oriented and made us feel right at home! (They re the reason I m even writing this review!) they saw our plight and hungover eyes after a guys trip and helped us get back on track!! (Shoutout to the hostess also made it happen without a reservation, and stored our luggage.) Not sure why there was such a line to place next door - this place is AMAZING!!!
Angie provided above and beyond service throughout a long 3 hour brunch service. Truly amazing communication and execution by the entire staff here. Thank you so much to Chambar and team for the amazing experience.
One of my go to brunch spots
Amazing food, service, drinks, and atmosphere - I was there with a group of 15 people for my high school friends wedding rehearsal and Chambar made it a great time!
I like the place. I tried the tuna with peach and the taste was really gooo. Service is also awesome
Came on a quiet Sunday, great service and amazing cocktails!. Blue Fig is a classic for a reason. Trick of the Light cocktails tastes like those Banana lollies youd get in a $1 dairy lolly bag (Kiwis will understand), its dangerous how easy that thing goes down. Thoughtful and meticulous preparations, loved it!!.
Overrated
The coffee was awful, and the meals were okay/good. It seems like they re better at pouring water than serving their customers. Our server, Hassam, barely paid any attention to us unless we made eye contact. The staff pouring water never asked if we wanted anything else. It makes me wonder if they re using their staff in the wrong way. Overall, the service was disappointing.
A very pleasant experience - great food, extensive drinks list, excellent service (Michael?) with good humor and a lovely ambience. Not cheap, but memorable.
We chose Chambar for brunch on our 33rd anniversary. We enjoyed the DIY mimosas. Our food was well presented and delicious. My wife has a gluten allergy and there are many GF options to choose from. She had the Brochette de Porc. I recommend the Bon Matin. We enjoyed the music so we asked our waiter what the playlist was. He encouraged us to talk to Connor at the bar, as the playlist was his. Connor was kind enough to share his Spotify playlist and even gave us some homemade limoncello as an anniversary treat.
The price of brunch is not proportional to its actual taste and portion size.
This place is incredible on all levels. The service is amazing, the food and drinks were next level! I highly recommend the Thon et Aubergine, Poussin aux Trois Façons and Le Canard!
My wife and I went here for lovely celebration dinner. The food was impeccable, as was the beer and dessert. I also found the staff to be very friendly and highly skilled. The bathroom was very clean as well. We look forward to our next visit!
Our server was lovely and attentive but a few mistakes with our after dinner coffees. But they made it right and comped the drinks. The food was not as great as I remember from the last time I was there. The game hen was nicely cooked but I found the chickpea and Zucchini undercooked and a bit boring. Pistachio creme brûlée was tasty enough but a bit skimpy on the portion and not enough brûlée to creme. Overall nice enough but a bit underwhelming given the price.
The menu and food are always wonderful!
Mega cool place with fantastic food and good service
All around a great experience!!!
Very good brunch with a unique menu and great flavours, service is excellent
A go-to since it opened 20 years ago. Chambar never disappoints. The service is always stupendous and Molly added to our long list of fantastic team members. The passion for service creates an ethos that always a great experience. Dietary restrictions: I have a nut allergy which they always accommodate.
Our favourite go/to when visiting Vancouver. They have an amazing menu with an incredible selection of both food and drink wise coupled with amazing service and ambience. A must go!
Great service, everything was served in a timely manner. Polite waitresses. The price isnt bad for the portion size. The taste wasnt the best, too many ingredients, too many spices, the flavor wasnt matching together. It felt like they tried too hard to do fancy meals that it made it kind of bad.
Always a good spot to eat at! Cool and unique beers as well!
Amazing food!! Sweet and kind servers and attentive servers. The 3 course meal is spectacular We recommend the chocolate cheesecakes
Connor was amazing, super nice, very professional, and the food was amazing! He was dealing with the full packed bar area, and was managing everything (including my family) skillfully.
Came here for their Summer Series last night. None of the food was good but the Game Hen three ways was actually terrible. The Arctic Char was just OK. Second time we ve tried these 3-course dinners and they have never been good. Service and atmosphere were great and Cocktails are pretty good. Sadly the food has gone downhill. Better to come for drinks than dinner.
Really enjoy going to Chambar. I always get exceptional service, and great food. The bartenders and waiters always make me feel special and always have great food and drink suggestions. Haven t had a bad experience here!
The bacon and apple brunch dish is fantastic
Brunch is to die for !!!! There mini waffles with pistachio dip Food
Brunch was delicious and the menu was more interesting and unique compared to typical brunch spots. The ambiance was enjoyable too and we had great service!
Our friends celebrated their wedding and it was a great experience. Service was exceptional and food very good too!
Hudson went above and beyond in providing us an exceptional experience. He was very personable and bubbly! Food was so good and the BELGIAN waffle was just the perfect brunch topper to end our Vancouver trip. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the city!
The dishes were delicious. The attention of the staff has been one of the best experiences, congratulations to the chef and the entire great kitchen team. We tried all the desserts and they were spectacular. Bon travail!
Chambar was a fantastic restaurant. Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday. Food, drinks, the decor, the service, everything was great. Would highly recommend.
I went from being a regular customer, mostly for business dinners, to never going back at all due to rude behavior by their manager last year. My friends had a table next to the bar and I went to the restaurant to join them. First, I was left waiting at the entrance for a while by the host even though I could see my friends table. My friends pulled up a chair for me to join them, and mind you, there were many empty tables/seats at the time. While were seated, the manager comes up and informs me in a very impolite tone that there wasnt enough space on the table to accommodate me and theyll let it go this time. Upon letting the manager know that we were there only for drinks that particular evening, he brought up that they were a restaurant-first establishment - an unnecessary snub. And again, most tables around us were empty and we were there only for drinks before heading to another place for dinner, so we didnt need a ton of space in the first place. They could have very much found a larger table for us, of which there were many available. As someone who goes out for fine dining very frequently, I have never encountered such rude behavior by the staff. If the restaurant is trying to position themselves as an upscale place, customer experience should be given a higher priority and they failed miserably at that.
Been here on several occasions with different people and everyone has loved it Fantastic Food, Friendly Staff with an Amazing Atmosphere. Highly Recommend you to try it for yourself !!!
One of my favorite vancouver restaurants. Been any times, never a miss.
First time at Chambar and the quality of the food was great. I would highly recommend the Harissa Prawns and the Mussels. Great atmosphere as well, loved the brick walls inside.
I had my 3rd time birthday at Chambar with friends and it was a very special experience
Meh, Underwhelmed. We went here for 20 Anniversary set menu special. The cioppino was acidic and tasted like tomato paste. No seafood flavour. The porkchop was mediocre and not juicy. The best thing is their beligium waffle dessert. Service was good. Have been here in the past and it used to be good but disappointed.
Make reservations this is a Vancouver institution
My girlfriend and I did the tasting menu they had, $49 a person. Food was great. Service was okay my glass of wine got forgotten but not a big deal.
Great summer menu 2024!
I dont usually write reviews, but I wanted to share my thoughts about my experience. The place itself is lovely, and the atmosphere is great. The only thing I would mention is that I was expecting a bit more food on my plate, but its not a complaint at all. When my server Angie asked me how the food was, I jokingly mentioned that with a smile, and she apologized multiple times for it, which I appreciated. What really made my day, even though it might seem small, was when she returned with a couple of treats. I work as a server myself, so I truly appreciated that gesture. Its actions like these that distinguish a good server from someone just working for a paycheck, without regard for the customers experience. Kindness and good manners always make a difference. Thanks, Angie!
**Chambar Restaurant - Luxury Cuisine in the City Center** Chambar is a famous restaurant located in the central area, known for its luxurious space and unique dishes. The most outstanding dish is the mussels, prepared in a unique style with bacon, bringing a unique and attractive culinary experience. **Cuisine:** Smoked mussels are a favorite dish of many diners at Chambar, thanks to the delicate combination of sea flavor and rich bacon taste. Additionally, the restaurant offers many other options, like tuna. However, it seems like the taste of tuna doesnt satisfy me, which shows that the variety on the menu may not suit everyone. **Space:** Chambar has spacious space, with both indoor and outdoor areas, both elegantly and luxuriously decorated. The restaurant is an ideal destination for dates, family gatherings or simply those who want to enjoy meals in a classy space. **Service:** With a large and professional staff, Chambar ensures that each diner receives dedicated and thoughtful service. Professionalism and efficiency in service are an indispensable part of the culinary experience here. Chambar is not just a restaurant, but also a symbol of sophistication and quality in cuisine. Whether you are looking for a special dish or just want to enjoy dinner in an impressive space, Chambar is always ready to welcome and provide wonderful culinary experiences.
Chambar was absolutely delightful. Our waiter was amazing, even giving us a light dessert on the house. Food was incredible, wonderful flavors, timely to the table. Best dirty martini in the city. My only issue was the inside seating atmosphere was way too loud to be able to chat easily, but once the early cover dining crowd left it got better. Definitely put this on your list! Dietary restrictions: One of our party had Celiacs and they had gluten free bread.
Very disappointed I indicated my wife birthday couldn t you afford same kinde customized Dessert?? also steak almost burn Shame guys.. never again.. will never recommend to any body.. Food
Hostess was incredibly rude and ignorant. Waitress appears to be trained in the same manner. Servers seemed yet affected. Menu is amateur hour creative, and the chefs lacked the skills to even pull off basics. To boot, there patio lacks appropriate shade. Avoid this mess.
Great for brunch, delicious food and awesome service. We ordered Fricassée and Raclette waffles + vanilla latte and cappuccino and we loved it. Service was 10/10. Food
We had an exceptional experience at Chamber Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was nothing short of amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ensuring our water glasses were full and greeting us with warm smiles. The bartender added a touch of humor, making our evening even more enjoyable. The interior of the restaurant plays a significant role in creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with plenty of details to admire. Despite the busy hour, the food arrived promptly and was beautifully presented. The Thon Grillé was a standout dish, with meticulously prepared cherry tomatoes that showcased the chef s patience and attention to detail. Les Chicons was another highlight, with its vibrant colors and rich taste, making the salad light and delightful. The Filet Américain introduced us to the unique flavors of Canada through the exquisite taste of bison. Finally, the Mille-Feuille impressed us with the freshness of its fruits, rounding off our meal on a perfect note. If theres one area for improvement, it would be the seating at the high-top tables. Adding a hook for handbags and providing back support would elevate the dining experience even further. Overall, Chamber Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with excellent service, a charming ambiance, and delicious food. Highly recommended! Thanks to Tammy for inviting us to experience the new set of menu in August :) Dietary restrictions: The servers inquire about the dietary restrictions to accommodate all guests.
Best brunch spot in Vancouver:) I wanna try all the menu they have.
Chambar NEVER disappoints!!
The food is always great, the vibe is chill, and the staff are always friendly
We love the mussels and the desserts. The food was delicious and the environment is very welcoming!
The restaurant offers an exceptional taste experience. You can enjoy Middle Eastern dishes in a great ambience and excellent service. The high prices are justified. A culinary experience that should not be missed.
Brought my family who were visiting from out of town. We had a great time here before going to broadway show. The mussels were a hit with side of sourdough to dip in the sauce. The duck was cooked perfectly. Good food and good service!
Yep absolutely love this place. the food is amazing. The cocktails and beer menu are superb and the staff are expert in their roles.
Wow, yet again, Chambar impresses. Went for my wifes birthday last night, and everything is literally impeccable; the service, the food, the atmosphere, the treatment, just lovely. We went all in with the Chambar favs, mussels, lamb, frites, and decided to get a simple mixed green salad (which was worthy of a meal in itself and had a beautiful pomegranate vinaigrette). We rounded out the table with warm olives. The drinks were fantastic, I advise to go for any cocktails as they are simply divine. For the non alcoholic the shrub and soda was just fantastic through dinner and melded even more at the end with the ice melting. Then a lil something special at the end for the birthday, 2 little pavlovas. We wanted a 1-2 bite small dessert after all that food and that was just perfect. Anything and everything you order here is delicately prepared and composed. The service here is Michelin level but casual, they know how to do service right, just go and youll see what I mean. Other restaurants take note, this vastly improves your experience, proper service is a MUST. And finally, prices are in line and not out of the ordinary, which rounds out this 5 star restaurant and a serious pillar of Vancouvers restaurant scene after all these years working so hard every night to make guests happy. We applaud you Chambar and team, we will see you again in July!
Consistently still one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. Open space, modern, consistent service and ambience. Best for brunch. Lavender lattes, mussels and frites and wine Exceptional dinner menu. The lamb was exquisite. Highly recommend: The Signature Fig Cocktail with Blue Cheese.
We accidentally stumbled upon Chambar and I am so thankful we did! We were advised a bit of a wait, but they phoned us for seating within 10 minutes which was pleasant surprise on a busy Sunday morning in Van. I was a barista for years, and have not had coffee this good in ages. Well worth the price! My company and I both ordered the Fricassée on the servers recommendation ($26.00 - 2 fried eggs, braised short ribs, balsamic caramelized onions, potatoes, watercress, applewood smoked cheddar). It was such an incredible delicious, elevated and filling dish at a reasonable price. The braised short ribs are so soft they fall apart and are absolutely to die for. I highly recommend this dish! Our server I very much which I could remember his name was incredible, very informative, funny, kind, timely and offering great service. Beyond that the remainder of the staff we encountered were just as lovely! Thank you Chambar! We hope to come back!
Very pleasant place for a brunch. There are several good options, including the fricassée and the waffle that I had. The food is well-sized. The service is also very good and polite. I suggest making reservations as it gets really crowded. Vegetarian options: Several available. Dietary restrictions: Several available. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Great for a nice brunch out. I had the Gaufres a la Raclette which was tasty. The service is friendly...great experience.
Well located restaurant just outside Stadium Chinatown skytrain station. The decor is attractive and the service is great. The food was tasty but the cappuccino could be better. It s nice that you can conveniently make reservations beforehand instead of having to line up to get a table.
The service, the food and the atmosphere are exceptional. Cant say enough about how great our dinner was. The baked brie with blueberry compote alone is worth a visit.
We went for Chambar restaurants 20 years anniversary dinner menu. 3 course $45 per person Th food were wonderful. Loved the desserts and salad. Smoked Ahi was a great but parsley was over powering. The waiter was the downside of the whole dining experience. I will go again but my friend said he wont.
Great place for a birthday brunch. The service was impeccable and they treated me so well on my birthday. They very accommodating for a group of 25. The $40 set menu was of great value especially since it included a glass of mimosa and waffle. This is one of my fave restaurants in Vancouver. Great service, beautiful room and the most delicious food . Everyone loved it - thank you !
Forever favourite in Vancouver. Lovely French-ish food, fantastic service, and a beautiful space. Servers are very attentive and generally quite easy on the eye.
Nice spot for brunch.
We went to brunch to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday and were amazed by the service and food. Our server was very attentive, we had a handful of food intolerances & specifications, and he took the time to not only take the information down but to go back to the kitchen to see if what we were thinking about could work. We also had a toddler with us and everyone was so nice to her. When we are back in the area, we will definitely make it a point to stop here.
The service was very careless, and didnt seem to care for the customers. We were not allowed to sit at the high tables and then were told to move when we sat at the bar. Even though the restaurant was not full. Terrible experience.
Great service, food is amazing, large selection of drinks.
Two us were celiac and they were able to accommodate both of us. Happy about that. Lovely birthday lunch with cousins.
This was our first time to Chambar and from the greeting through to coat check at the end everything was delivered flawlessly . All staff were genuinely friendly and helpful / knowledgeable about the various dishes . We had the Shakshuka which was perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection . The coffees were spot on . Thanks everyone, we will be back to try the other delicious sounding dishes
We tried there new taster menu on Satuarday and wow it was incredible. This is our second time here and the food was so delicious. Still thinking about it. I hope to have it again before they switch it up. Its a really great idea having a 3 course set menu where you can choose from 2 different things per course. We both had the prawns, flat iron steak, then my husband had the baklava and I the chocolate mouse and we both thoroughly enjoyed each course. It is great value for money. The atmosphere is comfortable and modern and the service is great. Was a great date night. Well done to such a great restaurant, we will be back
Muscle and fries. Muscles and fries. Muscles and fries. Muscles and fries. Muscles and fries. And exceptional service, ambiance and good vibes.
WOW - This place for years was a favorite - but that was 10-15 years ago - just returned - and was VERY disappointed. Horrible Mussels & terrible Rib Eyes... Ill sadly never return. The fries were still amazing. And the old ambiance is dead and buried.
Really great food and atmosphere for date nights. My partner and I really loved the foie gras and seared tuna. Their mussels are also amazing for those who like seafood.
Sat in lower section of restaurant, which much quieter. Lovely city and tree view. Servers attentive and friendly. Mussels delicious and fresh.
We had the prefixe 3 course menu ($49). Everything was absolutely wonderful. Perfectly cooked. Cocktails were great too. Will come back next time we are in town.
A special celebration and Chambar plus waitress, Tammy, did not disappoint! Loved the food, Belgian beer selection and especially the service. We could not have enjoyed ourselves as much in any other restaurant in town!
The special set menu was awesome and only $49! Full size portions too. Our server was terrific as well. Highly recommend it!!
Visiting from Seattle and found this restaurant online as a highly recommended brunch spot. Made reservations prior to going to make sure we didn t have too long of a wait. We ordered some waffles with the white chocolate pistachio rose and salted caramel toppings. I prefer the salted caramel over the white chocolate pistachio rose one, waitress said the rose is subtle but it was not -for me. Overall, service was great and food was good!
Five star!! Sometimes you just need to be made to feel special.. The Lynn cod card satisfied my pallet, The service satisfied my soul.. Thank you Food : 5/5 |
Chambar Restaurant, located in the heart of the city, offers a delightful culinary experience that skillfully blends contemporary cuisine with a touch of ethnic flair. The ambience is chic yet welcoming, perfect for both romantic dinners and casual gatherings. The menu, a fusion of local and exotic ingredients, includes standout dishes like the succulent lamb tagine and the perfectly seared scallops. Service is attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall exceptional dining experience. The extensive wine list impresses with its variety and quality. While prices are on the higher side, the quality of food and service makes it well worth it.
Great place for brunch and dinner

I have been a frequent customer of CHAMBAR since it first opened. Despite the influx of new restaurants, CHAMBARs service and food have always brought me joy and satisfaction. Especially with reasonable prices, it is a cherished place for my family.

What isnt there to love about this place? Food, ambience and service has always been amazing.
It is a decent place to have a lite dinner.
Delicious food and beautiful ambiance in the evening. Cocktail: Pomme dot com was really good Food : 5/5
Had an exceptional experience here. They were offering an anniversary special. Food was amazing. Have to say it was the best appetizer I ve had in recent memory. Great flavours, wonderful service and a very nice atmosphere.
Great food, wine list, and atmosphere.
One of our favorite restaurants in Vancouver and an annual tradition every time we visit our friends in the city. We have been coming here for years and pleased to say the consistency and quality has always been maintained. Typically we attend dinner but have had lovely brunch experiences which include delightful mini waffles with an assortment of handmade sauce toppings. The only downside, which doesn t get points knocked off merely wistful wishing, is for the return of the veal stuffed calamari, a dish that solidified our love for this restaurant and while we will always return, it truly was a benchmark item we still talk about.
Anniversary menu was good for the portion but overall taste wasnt as great as expected. Ahi tuna salad wasnt as fresh as some other similar class restaurants. Pork chops were tender and the sauce was flavourful. Desserts were average. Service is great!
We had a lovely meal before an opera. Food was very good. Great variety of Happy Hour appetizers, and a great steak. The service was attentive, location and setting was great.
We were excited to visit the place and enjoy they anniversary dinner. Unfortunately, the place has overpromised and underdelivered. Food was good, but it was rushed out of the kitchen and some ingredients were forgotten . It felt like they couldn t get rid of us soon enough. We order cocktails to start and it was served together with the wine for first course. No time was given to actually appreciate the food and the ambience. I specifically asked not to bring desert as we needed some time after the main course ,but my request was simply ignored. For a restaurant that claims to take pride in their legacy , I would expect much higher standards. The owner replied requesting to connect via email, however no response was received despite me reaching out.
Havent been here for a bit more than 3 years and a lot have changed. The portion has got smaller and price has gone up 20% or so, it doesnt taste as flavorful as it used to be. Overpriced.
shubh is a nice and kind person who sell fantastic pizza so you should come here to try pizza!
95% of my fries were shorter than 1cm. Dudes. Fries are cheaper than sawdust. Filter out the hash and show some pride in your marquee menu item, moules frites.
Cant say enough about Chambar. We only went for a short period, but its clear they pay great attention to their meals, drinks, and guests. Everything on the menu is made with a lot of care and attention. Even the non-alcoholic drink I got was expertly designed, with house-made mixers. For an upscale restaurant, the prices were quite reasonable, and the service was excellent yet laid back and not overly formal. Chambar is an excellent date night or business lunch destination.
That was one of the finest dining experiences Ive ever had, it truly made my birthday special. All the food was mind blowing and one cocktail was strong enough to give me a glow that lasted all evening.
Ive thought of this place as having consistently great quality for years. Our most recent changed my mind, not in a good way. Mussels didnt taste fresh. Tartare was forgettable, despite the variety of sauces. Baked brie was too sweet for an appetizer. On a positive note, drinks werent bad, and service was solid. All in all, it didnt surprise me that it was more than half empty on a Friday evening. I feel bad for them, but they need to step it up a bit.
What an amazing gem to discover. The food was really lovely, the servers were cheerful and helpful with a sense of humor. My son and daughter in law had taken me for lunch on Mothers day there. It was a lunch that I will always remember. The place gets packed quickly and they do have a patio as well. The portions are generous and I found several people there meeting up for coffee and a chat. Enjoy that place. You will love it.
It took a while to post this review of Chambar because it was such a disappointing experience. We went for their special 3-course 20th anniversary menu. Reservations are recommended as it was busy for a Monday. The decor of the restaurant is very warm & inviting. The appetizers (grilled ahi tuna & especially the pear & blue cheese endive salad) were very good. We both had the mussel, cod, prawn & calamari bouillabaisse with charred rice. I found this dish unsuccessful, as the seafood was overcooked and the soup seemed like unseasoned crushed tomatoes vs a seafood broth. The biggest disappointment was dessert. Having recently been to Brussels, I was really looking forward to the Liege waffle. What was served was a heavy dense waffle. It was not a Liege waffle and I could make a better regular waffle than this. The other dessert (chocolate parfait) was just okay. An underwhelming experience. We will go back & try the regular menu as Chambar is considered one of Vancouvers better restaurants, and I am expecting the food to be better than this. Parking: Chambar is close to the stadiums & theatres & parking is difficult if an event is taking place.
Been here numerous times and its always been enjoyable. Yesterday however was the worst service Ive had at a restaurant. The bartender on shift must really dislike his job, we walked out without even placing an order and took our money elsewhere. Probably avoid the place out of principle now.
Amazing team provided excellent service; food was superb! We had the coconut squash curry, a unique and delicious dish, flavourful and full of surprising, satisfying ingredients. Great experience and we will return, being sure to arrive early in the evening as the noise level increases after 6 pm. Food
Everything was amazing! Will definitely recommend to others.
While the restaurant has a decent atmosphere, we had a bad experience with two of the waiters. We had an emergency and had to leave early before desserts arrived, so we asked for them to go. However, the waiters were very rude about packing our waffles with the ice cream to go, insisting that it would all be soup. We said its okay, and it can be packed separately as we will be eating it really soon anyways. Not only did they not give us the ice cream, they also gave us unwarranted attitude. We can see where they are coming from, but I dont get why they are being rude about it. Is giving a small scoop of ice cream that big of a task for those two waiters? For a restaurant like this, we are truly disappointed and left with a bad taste in our mouths.
Saturday evening was a perfect example of a culinary well oiled machine. From our arrival welcome through to dessert, we found the experience top notch again. There were four in our party, we couldnt have enjoyed our evening more.
Charming spot to hang out with friends. Nice & polite servers.
Delicious great decor.. just go will not be disappointed! Had their famous waffles. And mussels yummy
I have always loved Chambar. I ve decided to continue that tradition of appreciating great food by bringing my child. They treated her with absolute respect, didn t ignore her and included her in the conversation. Food and drinks were amazing as always! Food
I tried Chambar years ago and while the service and cocktails were lovely and its a beautiful space, I was quite disappointed by the food. My friend suggested we try their anniversary menu and so I gave it another chance. Again, fabulous service, ambiance, and good cocktails, but unfortunately, the food missed the mark. I WANT to like this establishment but honestly I think there are several other options in the city that are better, especially when visiting the city. The salad was underwhelming, and the bouillabaisse was cold and the lingcod mushy. The table next to us complained about the fish as well. We didnt bother our server but agreed its best to try another place next time around.
I ve always liked Chambar and this experience doesn t disappoint. It was the 20th year anniversary 3 course menu with 2004 price, which is such a great deal nowadays. I know this year has been difficult for many restaurants and those Michelin star restaurants probably took the spotlights, but to be honest, after going to several those restaurants and being disappointed over and over again, it makes me appreciate an OG restaurant like Chambar so much. Its service quality, attention to details, and taste of food really make it last. Thanks so much for a great meal and I hope to come back many more times in the years to come!
service is excellent and friendly, and food is INCREDIBLE. we came here twice in one weekend. will be back! couldn t recommend enough!
Been coming here for the past decade. Their drinks are exceptional. Tonight we had their $45 3 course dining menu to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Again, did not disappoint. Grilled tuna - thick slice, smoky, over mint and parsley (super refreshing) Bouillabaisse with black rice - this dish is average, nothing to complain. Pork - exceptional. Juicy with cherry compote. Stoemp potatoes was well seasoned. Liège waffle - not crunch enough, but very tasty with the ice cream.
We went to Chambar restaurant for dinner on 14 April 2024. The food was excellent, and staff were friendly. My son ordered a Belgian beer, Westmalle Dubbel; I noticed that the beer has a Best Before Date of January 2024--THE BEER HAS EXPIRED! Upon voicing my concern, she spoke with her manager--I had cast doubt on her response regarding the expiration. Nonetheless, our server did not ask if my son wanted another drink as a substitute.
Everything was perfect, Ill back soon.
Was there last night for their 20th anniversary menu. Foods was great. Service was excellent. They had to take back our table for next reservation which was understandable. The manager invited us to move to the bar and treated us their signature lavender latte . I was very impressed that the staff were very thoughtful. That s probably one of the reasons that this place is still very popular after 20 years of operations. My friend and I had a fantastic girls night. Would love to come back!
