Overall it was a pretty good experience. If I had to be nitpicky, the tomato sauce was a little too diluted in my opinion, but overall the meal was very tasty and the portion sizes were appropriate
Lovely atmosphere with great classic music. Delicious food, I had the arancini, spaghetti, and tiramisu. All courses were great! Oscar provided our table with exceptional service. He was so polite, and friendly. Oscar definitely made our dining experience special. Thanks Cibo and Oscar!
Chair had blood stain from somebody’s period that wasn’t cleaned. Either it was that or a wine stain but judging by the location of where it was on the seat I don’t think it was wine. Bathrooms are not very clean. Food was below average , we ordered the canelloni, pesto linguini, beef tenderloin, scallop pasta and some appetizers… pesto was tasteless and soggy. The cheese cake tasted weird, like sour, fermented like taste. Not sure if it’s not fresh enough… service was ok but there is a big room to improve for the food….not consistent food quality? Tiramisu and the squid appetizer was good though.
The best Italian meal I've have ever had!!! We came here for our 1st wedding anniversary dinner and it exceeded our expectations. The whole meal was delicious. The risotto was what I was looking for. The tenderloin was mouth watering. Will definitely be back for another meal especially with the wonderful staff, food and decor. Thank you so much for having us!
Booked via First Table. Great food overall and good selection of wine to pair with Entrees. We shared most of our dishes and servers were very helpful with suggested items on the menu. My highlight was the tiramisu desert at the end, one of the best ones I had a while. Will definitely return. Recommended to just transit and walk over, the parking in downtown is not great.
We had a company meeting in Vancouver, finally first time after pandemic, and this was a great place to meet and celebrate the occasion Colleague who lives in Vancouver booked this room, and in this setup it could accommodate a good number of people (in our case 12) Food was delicious, however their portions were on a bit smaller side. Also, service for the separate room was good in terms of 2 people covering the event, however I found them a bit slower than we would expect.
Cibo is the best yet lonely restaurant in Vancouver! Cibo is an Italian restaurant with unbelievably delicious cuisine! If you pass by the restaurant, you are most likely to not choose to eat or drink there because of its decoration and how it looks! Yet, you must try it and you never regret it! 🖼 The decoration is so warm & charming. Ventilation is cool and patio is also a smart option! 🍱 I can’t emphasize more on the food quality! We couldn’t believe how four different breakfast options taste completely different and all super delicious! You will definitely understand that there is a chef behind! Someone professional is behind the scenes! 🌿 If you are so picky, go for classic benny and the Sicilian ones as the manager suggested them and they were cool. The sausage used in food is like no other and tastes awesome! ☕️ The coffee is of high quality as well and don’t miss that. Enjoy the uniqueness!👌
Overall a very enjoyable experience. We were the only table in the restaurant and had the full attention of the waiter, who did a good job, however did not really describe the menu or items on the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the starters and dessert; all the plates were fresh, sophisticated and beautiful. Unfortunately the main courses could not keep up; they were more of a home cooking style (a bit bland as well) and just not as sophisticated. Still very tasty though!
All was great. Staffs are great! I have been served well on my birthday
Delicious food. Great service. Would recommend! #ContestEntry
This is the best experience that I ve ever had. The food was amazing, the service was really nice by the server named Oscar. I love this restaurant so much.
Excellent food and service. A hidden gem. Homemade red sauce. Scallops done to perfection. Best Italian food that we have had. Ambience was delightful
Lovey experience.
Cibo is the perfect cozy spot for a relaxed night out. The warm atmosphere makes you feel right at home, and their wine selection is amazing. The good food is absolutely delicious. Thank you Oscar for the awesome service!
Definitely I will come back, the food is really good, and our server was super nice, he gave me really good food recommendations, authentic Italian
Ive been to Cibo Trattoria for the first time, it is an italian restaurant with authentic italian dishes. Our server Oscar was really caring and kind. Anything we needed and asked he was able to answer! I will come back, and bring my family for sure.
**Disappointed by the Long Wait** We waited over 50 minutes, even with a reservation. Service was slow, and no one bothered to update us on the delay. By the time our food arrived, the frustration had ruined the experience. Not worth the wait.
Such a small restaurant and the portion sizes are equal to that. We paid the same amount here that we would have for normal portion sizes at a much higher scale restaurant. EVERYTHING had salt on it. So, beware if youre not one that usually eats a lot of salt. Not sure I would ever go back here again. The staff was excellent though.
Cibo Trattoria offers a refined and authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of the city. Complemented by an extensive wine selection and attentive service, Cibo Trattoria provides an inviting setting for intimate meals, celebratory occasions, or romantic evenings. With its commitment to quality ingredients and genuine Italian flavors, Cibo Trattoria stands as a standout destination for those seeking a memorable and delightful taste of Italy in a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.
The restaurant looks nice; the food was excellent too. Everything was great until I got home and found out about the surprise bill with extra charges. Sent email but no reply. Make sure to check your bill before making payment.
Unfortunately the night that we went, they had a new chef and it seemed like he was the only one working. The appetizers came out quick but the mains took more than an hour to come out. Another table had to leave for a show because their food took too long. I ordered the beef tenderloin and I asked for it to be cooked medium. I ended up getting it well done. They did bring out another beef tenderloin without me saying anything, but it was on the rare side and it was cut into pieces (assuming the chef cut it to see the wellness of the cook instead of using a meat thermometer). My friends ordered the cannelloni and it was just ok. Some parts were just warm instead of hot. Definitely won t be going back again.
We booked the private room (max 12 people) for a birthday dinner. The service was 10/10 - our server was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the pace of the service was just right. The portions are perfect (much bigger than expected) and the wine options......highly recommend this spot!
I have never had such bad service like I did tonight, I have had better service at Tim Hortons than Cibo. I made a reservation for 730pm, I get there and it took 8 minutes to seat us (restaurant had many empty tables). Finally we sat down and it took our server maybe 10 minutes to come to our table and when he did, he took the napkins away so we dined for almost 3 hours with no napkins. We got our food which was amazing, I must say, but the time in between meals were 25 minutes to 40 minutes. We noticed many people looking around to grab the servers attention for aid, we saw couples sitting down and then they left because no one would attend to them. The server was literally talking to a couple the whole time, pulled out his phone and was exchanging stories and pictures while everyone else was waiting to be served, for their food, bill and so on. Very very very very slow service, I would only recommend it to people if they are willing to dine in for 2.5-3 hours. Again, great food, but avoid Cibo at all cost.
I met Jordan in the lounge on Feb 14. He and the servers and bartenders were great to my friend and I who stayed at the hotel Moda for several days last week. We saw Jordan every night of our stay and felt like we got the best treatment and service. Jordan encouraged us to enjoy our last dinner at your restaurant. We made a reservation and the food was fantastic. Jordan was friendly, welcoming and attentive to our every need. I feel like in addition the eating and drinking very well, we also made a new friend . I want you to know that you have a great guy there. I m planning to return with my sister in May and look forward to staying, dining and relaxing in you establishment again.
What a wonderful experience! The host was so gracious and welcoming and made us feel like royalty. The food was first class, and the atmosphere was quaint and intimate. Would definitely recommend this spot to everyone looking for an evening out and a great time with family and friends.
Incredible pasta and Jordan was the best server ever! Thank you
Elise was great and the wine was paired perfectly! Would definitely go again
Great food and service.
If you want good classic Italian without overpaying for it (like some of the restaurants downtown Vancouver), check out Cibo. Its a small, unassuming restaurant attached to the hotel--but its probably what youre looking for when you dont want the bells and whistlers. The service I had was gracious, friendly, patient, considerate, and pleasant. The two of us split the Caramelized Artichoke and White Bean Bruschetta (3 pieces, like an excellent creamy hummus on warm bread), Grilled Asparagus, Linguini with Sea Scallops (so good), and Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs (as it should be). They also have an extensive wine and drink list, with zero-proof options. If you a decent priced, no-frills, good classic Italian food and a nice downtown restaurant to catch up with friends and have good conversation (music was not too loud as it can be at other places), this is the place.
When you re a $$$ restaurant its not a good sign when your food quality is on the same level as Old Spaghetti Factory
We had been looking forward to eating here for a number of days when we received confirmation of our reservation however, when we arrived (on time) we were informed that they were over-booked and could not seat us. We were redirected to the Uva Wine Bar next door and told we would be seated there and could order from the same menu. The welcome we got at Uva was anything but... The staff member there rudely informed us there were no tables and quite literally waved us away. Our attempts to resolve the situation were met with more rudeness from Uva and a to-bad-for-you apology from Cibo. Have you ever tried to find a table in Vancouver at a decent restaurant at 6:30 on a Saturday night? Thanks Cibo/Uva for ruining our 80th Birthday celebration. We are headed home now to fry some eggs.
Never got seated even though we had a reservation. Not impressed
Wonderful experience and amazing food!!! Sadly, we were so enamoured with the ambience, lovely customer service and food that we didn t take more pictures. We started with meatballs, the burrata with focaccia and a salad and it would be hard to say which was the most delicious! Our entrees of Ling Cod, steak and linguini with scallops were fabulous and cooked to perfection! Our server was kind and gracious and the perfect mix of attentive but not intrusive! This is truly a hidden gem in the Vancouver food scene and I can t wait to come back!
My family and I had a wonderful experience at CIBO! Every staff member was lovely and the food was outstanding. I especially loved the burrata and the cod and the decor and ambience reminded me of Europe. Cant wait to go back and would highly recommend.
The food was not delicious, the pasta was dry and had little flavor. The wine was delicious and the roasted asparagus, and the waitress was charming! But the food is not worth the high prices
Travelled from The states where you don t need the actual physical vaccine card for anything but we did have a picture of it and ID with us. They wouldn t not accept us in without the physical card. EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT WE WENT TO IN THE CITY allowed us in with the picture and ID after explaining our situation. The host wouldn t even let us speak have some sympathy for the people traveling specially those of us are actually vaccinated! (HINT you can t cross the border if you are not)
Everything is wonderful. Food was a tad underwhelming. But mightve just been the food I ordered. Worth a try.
I can tell our chef really puts passion to his cuisine. He ensured our service was top notch. I wish I took better photos. I love our pasta dishes. Thank you Jesse !! Really pleasurable experience in a small and romantic restaurant. I will recommend this to friends.
Came here last valentines for their special course meal. Really good food, great quality and absolutely love the atmosphere. If you re still looking for a Valentine s Day date this is definitely a must try!
Awful experience. I left before I got my main course. I were the only customer during the lunch time. And I were waiting for my fish for more than 45 min. Amazing, isn t?
expectations were high because we paid $40 for reservations for valentine s day, booked 3 weeks in advance and we came 10 minutes early and got seated at the biggest table (for 6 people) which was next to the door and we had to sit next to each other instead of across and when asked to sit somewhere else the host looked at me and told us no you re sitting there , not even an apology or telling us i m sorry we can t move you . the menu was set to $125 per person and it was not specified on the website that there was only one set menu for today. once we got up to leave the host didn t even disagree or apologize for not specifying there is a a special menu. recommend thinking twice before going to this restaurant.
Perfect date night spot: quiet, elegant room with fireplace and candlelight. The food was innovative (kumquats in the duck sauce, chorizo with the cod) and delicious. We chose the flight of wines, which allowed us to taste a range of offerings from the wine list at a reasonable price. Our server Philippe was warm and engaging, yet respectful of our privacy. Overall a delightful place to spend an evening.
Great food. Extensive wine list. Has a great time overall
The menu looked limited but turns out they do a TON of specials including vegetarian options, and not just for dinner! 2 of us has a special and both were so yummy! There were only desserts with espresso in them, and the chef made me an off-menu custom dessert. It was AMAZING and fast. We re from out of country and Jordan (our server) was so helpful in helping curate our plans for the next few days - where to go but spend less time / where to hit that wasn t on our list. Hotel Moda is great, the coffee shop in the AM is great. Cibo food, dessert, service is great! Townie or visiting 100% recommend. Wish i could have brunch but we fly out Friday For a delicious and quiet weeknight dinner definitely stop by!
I came in with a girlfriend for some drinks and appies a few weeks ago and we had the BEST time- the drinks were delicious and our server Paul was amazing!! He was extremely personable and professional and was a big reason our experience was as great as it was:) We will definitely be back.
So disappointing. This place used to be so good. They seem to be struggling from staffing issues. Service was poor, unknowable server was clearly not a server - wearing a Lululemon sweatshirt and clearly flustered. Over-cooked pasta, cold vegetables, cacciatore sauce was runny and insipid. We ordered drinks on arrival but starters arrived before our drinks, we then had to prompt them to take our main and wine orders, we weren t offered desert. $250 for a sub-par dinner for two - would have been better going to Whitespot. Two stars because they tried.
Ordered a nice dinner for the 2 of us. My partner received the wrong entree. We were offered a replacement but since my dinner would be finished by the time the right dinner arrived we decided to let it go. Did we get or offered a discount ? Nope Will we go back ? Nope
We stayed at the Moda and decided to try Cibo for dinner one night. Service was excellent! The wine flight was a great way to try the various wines on the menu. Food was pretty good. Overall a great experience.
This is a lovely small restaurant, though with a brief menu. Our dinners were very good, but there were a couple of issues. Although our server hustled, it took about 50 minutes for our meals to arrive. The seafood pasta was spicier than expected (told that it was mild spice) and the only seafood was 2 prawns.
Great food, great service! Neighborhood gem
We absolutely loved our meal, the ambiance and service all excellent! Wine list impressive and as we were staying at Hotel Moda for several nights, we found it super convenient after being jet lagged. Don t miss this gem while in Vancouver!
The atmosphere here was lovely, the staff friendly, and the food was incredible! Delicious and a great environment. Would definitely come back.
Maybe we came at a bad moment, reading the other evaluations. The athmosfere was spoiled by a table of constantly, very loud shouting guys. The pasta bolognese was not warm enough and uninspired. Small portions and unevenly served . My wife had a childrens portion. The Italian beer was not cold enough and served in unadapted glasses. We ran as quickly as possible.
Excellent Italian fare- simple menu allows for quality control! Our server was server was extremely attentive especially considering the number of tables he was serving. Grazie mille!
Ducked in before a concert across the street and were lucky to get a table. Server was totally on the ball, got us served quickly (we were running late). I LOVED the bolignaise, wife enjoyed her seafood pasta. One star off because only 3 prawns in hers. Thanks for a nice meal!
My husband and I had a wonderful meal here. The food is excellent as is the service.
Very friendly wait staff, great food. Good times!
Server was kind, friendly and funny. But food was tasteless. We actually had to ask for salt and pepper to give some flavour to our pasta. Very disappointed with the food.
Great service, great place! The food is just not that impressive... Sorry, I might ordered the wrong plates.
went for brunch, ordered coffee and water. coffee showed up and still no water. when we were ready to order food we were told the item we wanted wasnt available but there was something else they could make which was not on the menu. it wouldve been nice for the server to tell us when we sat down. poor service, did not end up eating due to dietary restrictions
We ordered the Valentine s Day menu. 1st and 2nd course were extremely small. While the oyster was fresh, the quail egg foam was like eating air. The cod dish was a lot better, but a similar theme of being too small of a portion. The lasagne was probably the worst thing of the night as it was burnt, dry, and so small. The fact that we had to share this itty bitty piece of lasagne was sad. The fourth course was love birds which was delicious. The leeks on the bottom were not good and should be replaced with like carrots or potatoes. One downfall for the quail is that we had to use our hands to eat it which was not ideal. Last course was chocolate lava cake. We were expecting chocolate fondue as in fruits or brownies dipped in chocolate. It was alright, nothing special. The drink that was recommended was $30 and was not good. All in all, would not recommend as it was $75 per person and somehow we had to share two dishes which was not stated anywhere. Our bill was over $200 and we felt like our money should ve been spent elsewhere.
We went for the Valentines Day Menu and it was an incredible evening! The food was exquisite, the ambiance was fantastic, and so was the service. We especially enjoyed the cod. So smooth, so buttery. So tasty. Both of us highly recommend this place to everyone!
Great ambiance, great little restaurant. Servers are really nice and attentive. Food is good but the chef seems to have difficulty gauging the amount of salt he puts on the food... Everything is extremely salty here.
Friendly and attentive staff and amazing food. Every bite was perfection. Id never been there before and tried it for the Dine Out Vancouver menu. Ill definitely be back. The beef carpaccio amazing!
Great ambiance, great food, great service! I love dining here... Even the music is lovely!
Took my friend out for a birthday dinner and drinks. Food was amazing; as was the wine list. GM Matt visited us personally. Chef Jesse created great food for us and Sebastian and Sean as wait staff were great. Would definitely go back. The burrata and veal were .Loved the freshness of the Insalata. Well done Cibo.
When you want to eat like a king, on a princes budget.
We arrived at 11 (we had a reservation), the restaurant was closed. We called multiple times, no one answered. When they finally opened the door, we were the only two clients. The server managed to take the order wrong, and it appeared she didn t know anything about the food + she gave us the wrong menu. Not a nice experience.
The staff was nice, but the food was not. The starter we ordered (crab and prawns) had a very strong fishy flavour. The lamb, main dish (the most expensive on the menu) took 40min to be ready (they tell you in advance) and it was literally four salty racks of lamb and no side at all (a few peas dont count as a side). My boyfriend and I were very disappointed, we were expecting a romantic dinner and ended up having the opposite.
OMG , I dont know why they dont have long line up but I can say, one of the best breakfast in vancouver, really reasonable price and great atmosphere. Matt was our host and his professional service just amazed us, well done to everyone front and back end team
Worst food.. serving mostly stale food and no hospitality. Would never come back.
I have been there twice recently and the food, service and ambience has been great. The room was cool on a hot night and the music was low key and sophisticated. The chef created lovely dishes for us one night and another night he had a 3 course dinner special with three choices each of appetizer, pasta, main course and vegetable side. The chef is charming and very experienced in constructing unique dishes. Top marks all around for this Top Chef.
Amazing Tasting menu, service, ambience! The Tasting menu was 6 courses of tastiness, and its hard to pick a favourite! From the watermelon salad to the tomato salad with burrata, the basil pizza, sweet crusted Sable fish to the lemon olive oil cake, it was delicious! Big shout out to Jesse, the executive chef for his comedic, kind, and hands on attention to us!
Not the place for pasta
We had a wonderful romantic evening yesterday at Cibo! The setting is cozy and refined, the atmosphere is chic! The carbonara were delicious and especially the chef Jesse made us taste a melon with prosciutto which was like a poem! Thank you again to the whole team, we will come back, thats for sure!
I like the decor and the ambience here. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. The plating was lovely. Yet the meat balls in the bucatini was dry and underseasoned, and the sauce in both the bolognese and bucatini has very little flavor. The carpaccio was okay, and the lobster tagliolini tasted great. I would have given my feedback about the food to the server, but he did not asked for it, either during the meal or while I was paying. My glass of water was empty half way through the main course, and I could not see the server anywhere to ask for more.
This is more a 4.5. When we first got in, we were all blown away by the beautiful and eclectic decor. It felt like an art piece. We were pleasantly the only diners for a late brunch and came specifically for the build-your-own mimosa, although we were warned that Prosecco might be sold out. Nonetheless we would have been happy to try a wine flight alternatively but our server worked her magic and managed to organize it for us! We all ordered mains but ended up sharing the tiramisù stuffed French toast as our dessert and hands down, this blew our minds - absolutely delicious! Overall it was a really unique and fun experience to build our own mimosa and prices were such a great value for downtown. The highlight that complemented our whole experience was our awesome server, she was down-to-earth, super funny and went out of the way for us. Would definitely go back!
Lacked seasoning, but thats my only complaint.
Dinner out with girlfriends. Delicious meal, great service in a small restaurant. We felt very safe during crazy Covid period.
Lovely Italian restaurant!
Always a favourite place for a nice dinner and drink. Perfect for date night or bite before or after an event at the Orpheum.
Came during Dine-out and had the opportunity to try their $35 3 course menu. I have to say its quite mediocre. The vongole lacked flavours and textures. The clams themselves taste fine, no off-putting flavour, but its very blend and appears to be missing some salt and spice. The duck breast is alright in terms of texture, but the glaze I cannot get on board with, it reminds me of Chinese BBQ sauce with an unfortunate bitter after-taste. The burrata is pretty standard. The desserts are good, which give them a few points back. In general, obviously one would argue for $35, you cant ask for much, its possibly true. I do hope the quality or flavours reflect their regular menu. Service is good in general, I didnt get the bad experience as some of the other reviewers noted. No pictures either as the plating wasnt too note worthy.
A massive Thank You to the cast and crew at Cibo Trattoria. Murray, Yvonne and Bethany all provided exceptional service to my guests and I for my Birthday dinner. See you again soon..
Nice decor inside, dine out menu was tasty! Roast duck with the demi glace was amazing!
Wonderful food, fantastic service and a lovely feel to the restaurant. I can highly recommend this place.
Once food and amazing service! Would highly recommend the risotto
Clean facilities,good atmosphere convenient location.
Wet, small, uninspiring burata, dry bolognese and slow, forgetful service. Not impressed, C+.
Great restaurant. Server support knowledgeable which is great.
As we were staying in the adjacent Moda hotel, it seemed logical to try this place and so glad we did as we enjoyed a classy Italian meal in a smart and charming environment. Our mackerel starter was absolutely superb and the pasta mains and dessert were almost equally good. Service was first-class, particularly as it was quite busy. Not cheap, but then you get what you pay for.
Oh WOW! We made the perfect last-minute choice ordering from Cibo Trattorias take-out menu after a perfect social-distanced walk along the beach. No one wanted to go back and cook so, just as we were finishing our walk, we placed our order for a dine in with the family meal. Just over 30 minutes later, we had an entire beyond-fresh, five-course meal laid out before us. The portions, seasonings and sauces were all absolutely perfect. The pasta and bread were SO fresh! One member of our family wasnt interested in the scallopine di pollo until they tasted it! We all watched our extra disappear. It didnt actually matter since all of us chocoholics completely lucked out on the dolce of the day: a chocolatey dream with bits of melt-in-your-mouth meringue to top it off... The whole meal was a fantastic treat. Cant wait for another treat night for us! Highly recommend!
We had a romantic dinner with delicious food with lots of flavour that was plated just right. I would highly recommend the Carpaccio. Thank you Barrett for a lovely experience. Great server, plus they took all the measures for safety and to make you feel comfortable during this Covid time.
Excellent.... the burratta was amazing perfect mix of beautiful smooth cheese and virgin olive oil ... fiddle heads prepared with perfection.... deep fried basil leaves that melt in your mouth with a fine crunch as well. I had the Halibut cooked to perfection with an amazing purée of cauliflower and cooked cauliflower. The dessert was a perfect lemon cake with marscapone! All in all a great experience, fabulous atmosphere and only a short walk from home!
Had the best meal here. There is a new chef and his dishes are fantastic. Tried 8 different items and every single one was on point. Ill definitely be back!
Delicious food and amazing service. Our server made excellent recommendations and was clearly passionate about the food. The Burrata and beet pasta was my favourite. I m surprised to see their rating below 4 when we went as our experience and food was unreal.
Waitress was amazing and a lovely host. The restaurant had a nice ambience! However the food wasn t good; their is more seasoning in a box of kraft macaroni than in the risotto, additionally it was not even cooked. I very much recommend a drink and a few little bites to eat, not the main dishes!
Very expensive but great quality and amazing service!
Great hidden gem in downtown Vancouver. Healthy eats and great choice for people with sensitivities as they seem to be the go-to place for most friends with celiac or other allergens. During COVID order takeout, delivery or dine in. Support your local restaurants.
One of the worst restaurants in Vancouver. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER SEEN. I made a reservation for my engagement party in June, 2020. However, the day before my engagement (Aug 14th), sales and marketing manager, Kelly Jordan-Hamilton called me and said that she cannot host us because covid-19 rules have changed and they cannot accept 12 people. PLUS, I made deposit payment to the restaurant, but after cancellation, they even did not return my money, lying that theyve never received the amount I paid. What a shame of them!!!!! I though that this restaurant would be one of best in Vancouver, but from my 1st experience with them, it turned out the worst in whole British Columbia. They didnt just destroy my happiest day, they stole my money as well.
AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Dont recommend this place to anyone.
This place cancelled my daughters engagement party just a day before her engagement party, where we originally made the reservation two months before the engagement. Never ever trust this place!!
Not professional to book, they are not aware of any COVID19 Rules they can make last-minute changes, they will also take deposits and do not refund it even though they cancel your reservation if they found a more meaty customer so they will make more profit then your reservation so keep away and trust me if this is the last place in Vancouver again just avoid it.
Cibo trattoria is always one of my favourites. It s attached to boutique hotel and the UVA wine bar. I love their attention to fine ingredients. The drinks are always good. The food is always fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful and it s always a fun place in the middle of the city.
Ok...so call me a pig! This past Saturday was our second visit to Cibos! The first visit was a spur of the moment type thing with a small group of friends! We made the reservations and were looking forward to a night out! At the very last minute, we received a call and email that the restaurant will be relocating our dining experience to one of their private rooms as a water man broke in the main dining lounge! Boy were we in for a surprise! Got the Madonna Room! Fantastic environment! Food was amazing! Cant say enough about the eats other than you have to go there! Before our dining experience ended, the Chef Jesse Zuber came into check on our dining experience! Fantastic guy! Took criticism and suggestions to heart and even asked us if we would be interested in a truffle tasting? We immediately said yes! Booked the Madonna room for this past Saturday and were treated to another fantastic gastronomical adventure of truffle soup, pasta, risotto, ribeye steak, and a truffle chocolate desert! WOW! Again, Chef Jesse came in to check on our experience! This time, we convinced him to do a seafood tasting experience for us! Cant wait to return!
Me and my partner went here for dinner, and couldnt have asked for a better. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, knowledge and helpful and the food was fantastic. Id recommend this for a nice date night any time.
Awesome service, great food. I had the cannelloni, which had a great texture since they pan fry it after baking it which I thought was a nice touch. My date had the maltagliati which was also delicious. Another great thing is they serve cocktails fron Uva, and their skilled bartender will make you anything you want, or surprise you if you describe what flavor youre looking for. Thats how we discovered the Naked and Famous, which is beautiful to just look at and tastes just as good. Also give the 20th century a try, you cant go wrong!
The parents in law stayed here at the attached hotel for a recent visit. This restaurant has an eclectic menu, this was from a visit for brunch one day. I had the frittata, it was very tasty. Service was excellent
Excellent service and delicious food. Our children enjoyed the french toast and we liked our traditional breakfast and the Pacific. Kind of expensive, but delicious. The waiter made it for us, though.
Comfortable, delicious food and excellent service!!
Very nice. Wonderful food, helpful staff, warm environment. Cant wait to return.
Good service..average food..
Went for their DineOut menu in 2019 and enjoyed simple but thoughtful, clever, and delicious dishes. The chef clearly is always thinking about food, and ways of paring it and serving it, to bring delight. The service is very generous and they seem to have a really positive culture there. When another dining guest accidentally knocked our table and spilled my glass of beer over everything (its a tight fit between tables), the staff were swift, considerate, and effective in making everyone involved feel taken care of. A small restaurant with a big heart and an excellent dining experience.
Best breakfast that I have had in a long time and available until 2pm
Lovely meal, wonderful service. Can be lively/ loud
Excellent service and food!
Pros: tasty food and wine, very good service Cons: door opens into hotel reception making it feel less intimate, music selection could be improved. Overall: recommended
Food is delicious. Waitress is a nice lady. Prices are a little high since the place is a fancy upscale restaurant.
Very consistent quality, you can tell the entire staff (kitchen and front of house) really cares about the customers experience. Food is amazing, I recommend trying the menu item Sgombro or trying the Vongole pasta if you havent already!
The food is very good, will definitely recommend to people this cozy place.
The food is nice. The servers are friendly. It does not ever seem to be overly busy. I think for the good is a little over priced for what you get though.
Boring bland food, terrible service. 14 of us reserved the private room for a good friends birthday. - We sat for an HOUR before waiter took out drink order. - For every drink ordered, it took 30 mins to arrive. - We had to wait another 30 mins to order food. - Food took another 30+mins to arrive (appetizers, not mains). - My husband and I only got 3 of the 5 dishes we ordered. They forgot 2 of our dishes. Despite the waiter helping us with suggestions on what to order. - They messed up another order on the table (despite a disclosed allergy!) & the poor lady had to wait another 45/50 mins for the replacement dish (how does a replacement spaghetti dish take that long given the pasta is already made?). - Dinner took almost 4 hours because service was so slow. Table of 14 should take 2-2.5 max. - Pasta was too thick on ravioli, so instead of it having a nice chew/being al dente it just was under cooked. - Ravioli dish was small, under-stuffed AND filling was dry (insult to injury). - The air conditioning kept blasting intermittently, so temp would go from hot to freezing. Waiter tried to lie and say it was because of the wine kept in the wall cabinets.... the restaurant would NOT have kept wine in a room that fluctuated temp so drastically in a matter of hours. - Waiter did not proactively mention 18% gratuity was included, and felt like he was hoping we would forget and tip again. If this is how they treat a privately booked room of 14 people (deposit placed) imagine the service you would receive....
Nice!! Small!! Enjoy!!! Good food!!
Had a very pleasant breakfast here, food was nice and the waitress was just lovely!
This restaurant is small and cozy but I loved the atmosphere the waiter was so kind and accommodating. The food was delicious although the portions were on the smaller side the porpette I believe was an amazing appetizer it was so good they were little meat balls. I was surprised when we had to pay $5 for bread but it was worth it, the focaccia bread was delicious with the oil and balsamic vinegar. The Anatra was the duck and it had a chocolate sauce and it was so good the duck was cooked to perfection. The pappardelle with duck pork and something else was delicious it was so flavour full. And lastly the tiramisu for dessert was presented in an interesting way it looked like a ice cream sandwich but it was so yummy. I would recommend this restaurant I m going to 100% comme back it was delicious
Quiet, excellent services, delicious food. Best chicken drumstick n crispy sea bass! Organic salad n simple but not overly sweet deserts.
Incredible authentic Italian, excellent for the money and Fantastic atmosphere.
The turkey dinner was dry and tasted of fish. The entire table had the same experience. The food was overpriced and the service was laughable. The best part of the evening was the staff finding out the water leak that complimented the evening was a regular occurence and part of the buildings charm. Glad I wasnt sitting in the chair directly underneath. Apathetic staff and awkward service. All in all if youre looking for good food and service, walk right by this place.
Horrible food, terrible service. We were a party of 6 people and we reserved for their Thanksgiving meal. The waiter could not care less about any of our questions concerning the drink menu, nor did he check up to see if we liked the food. The first service consisted of a small portion of wilted chewy kale, which took close to 45 minutes. The main dish, the portion of turkey the size of a deck of cards had the texture of overcooked steak, and the flavor of salmon; I swear it was brined in fish oil. It had burnt mush stuffing and charred brussel sprouts. The dessert was actually really good. The night ended with there being a major leak in the ceiling at the table beside us, and no apologies from the staff. Overall though, I cannot justify paying close to 150$ for my partner and I. To top it off, we had to find the waiter to ask for our bill, after 20 minutes of being finished our food and drinks. Save your money, go elsewhere. Im amazed at how bad our experience was.
Terrible food Disgusting service Overpriced No ambience And management is extremely inefficient Run away from here, take your money elsewhere
We had a magical NYE multi coursed dinner at Cibo! Every dish had a unique flavor and every dish got better and better as the night went on. The décor and lighting gave the restaurant the perfect amount of elegance to keep the NYE night unique and intimate. The preparation & passion from the staff that night makes a restaurant like Cibo standout above the rest. We received 5 star service from start to finish. Our main server was Corey, he exceeded our expectations from the moment we sat down for dinner to the moment he helped me put my jacket on to leave that evening. 5 Star dining experience all around!! We can t wait for our next trip to Vancouver so we can stop by and dine at Cibo again.
We were there for Valentine s Day. The menu looked great. The food was good but not the best ever. The service is why there is a one star from us. We had the short hair blonde server in the corner by the door. She was the most awkward server everrrrrr! She didn t say anything to us besides take out order. For spending over 200 dollars here it was a shame the service sucked. Hats off to the chef but not the server.
Fantastic service! Food just definitely great, but on the pricier end. One of the better vongoles that Ive had here.
Christina and Corey are amazing! Service is impeccable. Food is delicious here too
The quality of the food was excellent. Pleasant staff. Highly recommend eating here.
Food was truly amazing and the wine was just as good. I would totally recommend dining here and cannot wait to go back
Went here for dinner with my wife before a show at the Orpheum. It was not very busy that might barely half full. Service was terrible. The server had no clue on what drinks they serve and was clearly new. I can always forgive new severs as someone has to start somewhere but what really got me was how long it took to get our food. First thing we told them was we had a show to go to but we did have 1.5 hours. Well just to get our appy and entree took almost 1.5 hours. Given that it was not busy there was zero excuse for such horrible wait times. Reading through other comments this seems to be a common theme here. I can only assume they do this on purpose to drive up drink sales as I find it hard to believe they are that incompetent. To top it off the appy was fine but the entrees for both of us were super salty.
Small menu of foods and huge menu of wine. Limited choices if eating foods only. For the portion and quality, foods are expensive. Service is attentive as there are only 2 tables of guests in the whole restaurant. Business is so quiet that servers gather in the bar area to casual talk among themselves. Table for two is too small. When 2 plates of main dish being served with bread, the table is too full. Restroom is messy and the fan is out of order and restroom is smelly. When the tips is fixed at 20% for payment, I feel surprised as service, decor, and facility are not up to 20% service charge. Will not go back again.
We came here with a large group. The service wasnt the best, water wasnt topped up consistently, food was marginal. For the price, go somewhere else.
Clam chowder, my favorite. Central location with very attentive and helpful staff. Its very rich Italian seasoning.
Very rich, very high price
ordered take out - brodo + spaghetti alle vongole, both dishes were delicious! the gentleman that took my order was extremely friendly and explained to me that the brodo (broth) is made of prosciutto + parmigiana ends, it had so much depth and flavour... yum! the spaghetti was garlicy goodness with lots of clams. i would recommend!
Consistently under rated Italian. Easy to get into so long as the symphony isnt playing across the street.
This is a beautiful spot and the food is great. We came for brunch and everything was delicious. I had the frittata which was excellent and the French toast was very innovative and, more importantly, delicious, with nice berries and cream. The sausages with the traditional breakfast were huge and the eggs were done very well. A couple of people in our party got the tagliatelle which was also delicious. Service was friendly and the 8 month old in our party was accommodated very nicely. The coffee was great and although we didnt order alcohol the menu was strong. This place is fairly intimate, attached to the Moda hotel but separate. There are entrances from Street as well as hotel. There is a nice modern see-through fireplace and generally a very nice and unique decor. I had been to this restaurant a couple of years prior for a work holiday party. My then-employer booked the entire room which was great. The dinner and wine then were excellent as well, as was the service. I was surprised this place was not very busy at around 11 on the weekend. It did get busier by the time we left. I dont know what it is like at dinner but for weekend brunch I consider this place to be a bit of a hidden gem. I highly recommend Cibo (pronounced cheebo), whether for family brunch or a nice dinner out.
Nice place, with good food. All of us just had an entree, as we had snacked before heading to our reservation. The portions are good especially for the pasta, however for the Pork Chop would recommend getting something as a side or an appetiser. Another option is to get there before 7 and take a look at the Orpheum menu, which is a fixed 3 course dinner with 2 options per course. Nice ambience, it is small but cosy, and not overly loud.
Went for DineOut with a group. First off, the good aspects: beautiful atmosphere and decor, stellar service, and the branzino (sea bass) was gorgeous (flaky, perfectly seasoned and cooked, tender). Soft and toasty bread. I tried a bit of my friends beef and that was fork-tender and beautifully flavoured. The sauces were very well done and complemented the dishes. I also tried some of the chocolate cake (very artfully arranged on the plate), and it was nice and dense, though perhaps Id put it more into truffle category. Unfortunately, the portions were really underwhelming and I left rather hungry (I can only hope that the regular portions were severely pared down for DineOut purposes). I didnt find the squash soup especially enticing (rather watery, both in texture and taste) even though the ceci beans were very interesting -- I would have preferred something that centred around them instead, as they were the most exciting thing in that bowl! I would have also liked a slightly firmer panna cotta with more than just a ghost of vanilla. What they do well, they do well. Unfortunately, they miss the mark on enough things that I likely wouldnt recommend it.
Nice experience though it was pricey. Liked that carrot soup and pasta with rabbit. Not many wines are served, but selected fine. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Great service and food quality. The new mgnt and chef make a huge difference. Between 6 people, we had a wide selection and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Dont go here for lunch; thats all there is to it. These guys are all about the bait and switch, a rather short-sighted business model, if you ask me. Personally, I love trying out lunch specials from as many restaurants as possible. From my point of view, its a great opportunity for a restaurant to show people what theyre made of at a bargain price, and you know what? If they offer good quality, Ill tend to return and try their dinner menu as well. Some places really will blow you away with what they offer at $12-$15 a meal. Essentially, Cibo advertises a main + a glass of wine for $13. Sounds great right? The second you walk in however, the waitress tells you what a junky special it is, and that you should really order something else off the menu. Once you say that no, you intend to purchase the initial offer presented (you know, the one that got you in the door in the first place), then comes the sneering look of disdainful disappointment on her face. So what does Cibo offer up for $13 which they use to build their customer base? Basically a paupers meal: a half glass of wine accompanying a rather small portion of plain tomato sauce and peas over pasta (great for vegans, I suppose) but the question is, why would you offer a special which you yourself are ashamed of? Because you lack pride and confidence in the work you do. Theres no other possibility. More to the point, these guys are completely out of touch with the level of quality that you can actually get in the downtown area for $8 + $6 (Main + alcoholic beverage). Cibo = sub par on every level, based on my experience here.
Very bed experience. I got a breakfast ticket from moda hotel and order a breakfast meal in Cibo restaurant in the morning. However, they prepared the breakfast very very slow. I waited as least 25 mins for the breakfast. I didnt touch the meal and leave there to catch the plane. I dont think that the waiter is a good guy to serve you and very rude. He asked me how to cook the eggs, but he didnt provide any options to me. Bed attitude, dont go to this restaurant if you live in moda hotel.
Small portion. Pasta was ok but kind of cold. Did not like the cold soup.
We stayed at the Moda Hotel & had breakfast here as we were checking out. We were paying guests, not using a coupon. The staff was very attentive and the meal was the freshest, best prepared, properly seasoned breakfast I have had in a long time. The prices were fair for the quality. The only thing I could suggest is adding some house made preserves for the toast because I think they would do something outstanding with that. The art and decor will keep you interested while you wait for your food. Would have been 5 stars but the ultra bright LED lights hurt my eyes & coffee was not very good.
Came for the set dinner before a show at the Orpheum. Appies were fast and delicious.... then came the wait. After an hour of hoping our food would arrive before our show, dinner came (simultaneously with dessert), and we proceeded to gulp everything down in the 5 minutes we had left. Flavour was there however the wait made enjoying our experience impossible
Fantastic meal
Great Italian place! Very tasty pasta. Perfectly seasoned and nicely presented.
Excellent service and simple but well executed brunch menu!
Delightful atmosphere - and the gnocchi was outstanding.
The atmosphere is quaint but its very crowded and the waitress banged into my table several times serving others. The soup was bland. After my starter I waited for my gnocchi, and waited and waited... An hour later my phone was dead my white wine was warm and they brought me polenta, not gnocchi. The waitress said that in Rome it is made with semolina not potato, but you could definitely see three disks under the olives. The chef had taken 3 slices off a log and made me wait an hour for it. Will not return.
Rabbit was devine and the carne left us speechless. The company was breathtaking, thank you for the experience.
Excellent reasonably priced brunch menu with meticulously prepared food. Lots of tables and good space. A treasure hidden in plain sight. At least until people realize its there.
Waited at the entrance for 7 minutes until was attended too. Nice atmosphere, but choices on menu and menu is poor. For those that know Gnocchi, this isnt exactly what you will expect.
Been here a couple of times already, the last being for my birthday. The atmosphere is good, and so is the food, but it is nothing special. I ve been to many Italian restaurants and most of them are either equally good or even better. I was disappointed to see that the portions served were very small!
Very good restaurant with a very complete choice of wine. A little bit pricey though.
Good service, but definitely not authentic Italian. The flavors were muddled together with way too many things going on. Italian should be simple and fresh. Would not go back.
A group of 5 for dine-out. The servers were very nice and polite. Also, personable and were knowledgable with the drink menu. The environment is calm and warm. The chicken liver is to die for. The risotto is too cheesy/salty and the pork is just okay. However, the chocolate dessert is truly the best thing on the menu. Would go again for drinks and dessert.
Dine Out Menu sounded a lot better than it actually was. 3 of us ordered 3 different things for all courses and none of us were blown away by any of them. Very disappointing. Also portions were v.small Really nice place but will not go back..............
When we first arrived the hostesses told us there was a wait list for the patio and seated us at the pizza bar until a table freed up. While this was interesting to watch them make the pizzas, we were also watching the patio and noticed 3 empty tables of 2. We ordered our food, and waited about 20 mins and asked again if we could move to a table on the patio. She told me there were reservations and if anything else freed up they would move us right away, although more and more tables became empty. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, we were moved to the patio which had a great vibe and was very private, considering Cibo is right on 17th. Although the experience started out a little shaky, we really enjoyed our meal, and the whole sharing concept of appies. We had the boar bacon pizza, which was delicious, and the best gnocchi that Ive ever had. I would definitely go back, but to be on the safe side, call ahead to reserve a table.
An example of what you can do if a world class staff puts their minds to it. Bravo
Had two good and one really awful experience here. The owner is particularly rude and after my last interaction with him, Ive dropped this from my list of restaurants. Service was OK when in the restaurant (as long as the owner isnt around) and the food is quite good. Not good enough to offset the attitude though!
