Second time here. Waiters are always absolute gems. Bobby was our server and made the whole experience that much more memorable. Would recommend everyone try at least once!

The atmosphere and experience were amazing. The food was not ideal. I hit the lamb ragu pasta and I had like one piece of lamb. I should have gotten the steak or something else. The pasta in itself was super al dente to the point where you couldn t really taste the sauce. I was al dente pasta all the time if there was more lamb it would have complimented well. But just super al dente pasta by itself is not ideal. The flavours of the food were good. It s very possible they just made an error with mine because the food reviews are so good. I would come back and order differently. For dessert they brought two options one was a cheesecake and one was like some sort of chocolate brownie cake. The cheesecake amazing the chocolate one was really dry for yes cake itself but it had sauce it melted chocolate on some areas so with that it was good but the batter itself was like ocercooked a bit and dry. Great service wonderful atmosphere.

Amazing food and outstanding experience. Dinning at Dark Table is an incredible experience that it offers more than just a meal and wine. Eating in complete darknesses gives us a sense of what blind individual experience daily, a deeper empathy and understanding. The atmosphere there is both charming and immersive. This experience obviously supports the blind community, it also provides delicious food, and a thoughtful curated wine menu at a reasonable price. It is both memorable and humanitarian experience that everyone should try. No need to mention our Server Omid was outstanding.

The experience itself dining in the dark was great! Really interesting to see your other senses to become more enhanced when you cant see anything around. Other than that I cant say any more good things about this place. The hostess outside wore baggy sports clothes, didnt really explain everything well. It didnt set the tone as a fine dining place... After eating we were walked to pay our bill where we got a glimpse into the kitchen area which seemed very run down and the cashier was also wearing baggy sports clothes. We also got walked to the washroom at the beginning. It looked kinda nice, but once you exit it, you can still see the hallway a little bit and the paint from the walls was completely chipped and everything seemed really poorly maintained. This gets you thinking how does the main dining room and furniture looks like... The food itself was meh, really average in taste, nothing special. The thrill was to understand what youre eating without seeing it. I came here with a date I wanted to impress but all these underdressed workers, bland food and falling apart walls didnt help. The waiter was nice and well dressed though. Overall I wont be coming here again. The price was not worth it the food and service we received, the experience itself was nice.

Such a memorable experience! We loved our meditteranean fish and lamb rigatoni entrees, shrimp appetizers and chocolate cake. Omid was helpful and entertaining. The groupon deal was fantastic.

We were seated close to the entrance, and every time someone entered or exited, there was a red exit sign that shone right at us. Besides that, it was pitch black in there and was a very cool experience. Did the 3 course meal option and the appetizer and entree were very good, but the dessert was seriously lacking. This is a unique experience. Finding your way to your table in the dark with the help of a server is quite cool. Having food in total darkness is quite an experience. The food was amazing, we ordered lamb ragu and a surprise meal. Id like to say a big thank you to Joe, who is such a great server, making sure were comfortable.

So neat! Total darkness. Simple food. Few furniture mishaps, lol. If youre sensitive to motion sickness, you might get disoriented. Very loud atmosphere. Vegetarian options: Not many. Simple and bland substitutions lacking flavour.

I had an amazing experience thanks to the waiter, Omid, who worked there. Loved it. I was anxious at the beginning, but Omid gave me comfort through the darkness because, yes... it s pitch dark. The food is AMAZING, I was in shock. I recommend the lamb to everyone. Your other four senses are fully engaged. What I really didn t like were the girls at the front desk entrance. They were dressed like they were in pajamas and looked unprofessional, which didn t match the unique experience of Dark Table. It s ironic because it s a place where you don t see, and they re the only ones you actually can see, but they looked so young and unprofessional to be there. On the other hand, Omid was impeccable and did an amazing job. It s incredible that this restaurant gives job opportunities to blind people in such an interesting concept

This is the first restaurant that I can t use photo to describe. I particularly chose thanksgiving week to try and i was amazed with vision impaired servers service technique. We need to express everything in talking so the restaurant is quite loud. Food is surprisingly good and tasty. They still plate everything well as i used my fork and knife to feel . Everyone should at least tried once to treasure what we have. Greatly appreciate the dining experience. Tips: don t wear white cuz might get dirty when u eat in dark

A truly unique experience! Tastes, textures and smells are on full display. We had steaks, cooked perfectly (I take mine rare, my wife takes hers bien hecho), and the potatoes were of an excellent flavour and texture. Additionally, its super fun to get a surprise starter and dessert and have fun tasting and discussing and discovering what it is! Being in a perfectly dark room with lively people about really challenges ones sense of spatial awareness, which adds further curiosity to the experience. The servers are super professional. They seem like magicians the way they move and communicate perfectly in the dark. I think the dark environment leaves cleanliness...somewhat a lower priority all around. It was pretty clear that our table hadnt been thoroughly wiped down. Additionally, I wanted to wash up before eating, but it was quite busy and I didnt want to bother our server to escort me to the washroom and back only for that, though I know he would have. I also understand that thorough cleaning would pose a significant challenge in this environment.

Great dining experience in complete darkness. Speechless when I got my food. The drinks were really good and we had a good time trying to figure out what we were about to eat. My friend said it was steak and I said it was chicken, and we never asked out waiter what we had so we might never know!

I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with this experience, unfortunately we left within a half hour because I had a panic attack. Yuko was our server, I asked her to stay close because I was nervous and if I wanted to leave I needed to know I could. She came within seconds of me calling her each time. She held my hand to calm me down each time and tried to reassure me. She made sure our food and drinks came as soon as possible knowing I was very uncomfortable but wanted to stay for my partner. Extremely sweet staff and very accommodating, I unfortunately had to leave because of my own fears. However, a $130 bill for a risotto + another main and two drinks is quite a lot.. the price got me.

I was so excited for the whole experience only to be disappointed by the food. The pasta was not cooked and cold and when we complained they took it back but when they served it again it was still the same and we just left it. The risotto was also not cooked properly and lacked flavour. The dessert was ok nothing great but honestly for the price and the reviews I was expecting more. Again, the restaurant concept is great and our server was beyond excellent. However, the food was mediocre, as other comments have also pointed out. My food was half cold ..I would not be this upset if it were just the food. Additionally, we were overcharged when we checked our bill; drinks we did not order appeared on our bill, and non-alcoholic drink was mistakenly charged as a more expensive alcoholic drink. My partner and I went to Dark Table with our friends and had a truly awesome experience. Being in total darkness was a bit unnerving at first, but you get more adjusted as time goes on. Our server Omid was so friendly, and was cracking jokes with us throughout the night. He was very attentive, and always made sure we were well looked after. The food was excellent, both my partner and I had the local chicken which was phenomenal, and was served with potatoes, carrots and asparagus. Portions were large and none of us could finish our mains. I also got the mystery drink which was fun and tasty! Overall it was an amazing dining experience unlike any Ive ever had before, and our server Omid made our time at Dark Table extremely enjoyable. Would definitely come back here for a special occasion as it was a bit pricey but worth it for what you get!

3rd time here. Good atmosphere. Amazing servers. Omid is wonderful. Lots of light in the restaurant it took away from the experience this time. Don t sit customers at the front or they will see lots of light. Food was great. Steak was amazing but not portioned well. It was 80% potatoes and a couple pieces of steak. You re paying more for the experience than the food.

I visited as a group of 3 adults and 3 kids (7y, 11y and 15y) for dinner. I was a bit apprehensive about taking my younger kids but they loved the experience. Having said that there was a period about 10 minutes in when we all felt very claustrophobic but the feeling passed. The restaurant is also quite loud as everyone feels the need to talk louder as you cant make eye contact which helps alleviate some of the fear for the kids. The food was well prepared and tasty. We picked a surprise for all three courses and the banter amongst us to determine what we were eating was lots of fun. The younger kids had a pasta dish which they just ate with their fingers while the adults got baked chicken and steak. Our waiter, Joe, who was blind, was very friendly and spent a bit of time with the kids giving them an insight into life as someone with visual impairment. The hardest bit was knowing when your meal ended but I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This place is amazing! We were in awe at how the space is literally pitch black and we were not able to see a thing, even over time, although our eyes tried to. It created such a unique dining experience for us that we will remember forever. Our food was excellent also! The darkness definitely heightened the sense of taste and we were left with happy and stuffed bellies. A huge shout out to our server, Joe, who was hilarious, attentive, and helped us find our way through the dark like a boss. He was awesome. I was amazed to hear him walking so easefully throughout the room talking with all the tables, bringing food and drinks out with such ease. If youve never been, I definitely recommend this place. This is one of the greatest dining experiences Ive ever had. We had the sweetest server, Yuko, wait on us last night. To dine in complete darkness can cause anxiety in some, but Yuko made us feel so comfortable and excited for the experience. I highly recommend. I had the mushroom risotto with rice, which was plenty in its portion size. The lychee mojito was amazing. The only negative experience I had were the patrons seated next to us who checked their phones and revealed the restaurant with their phone lights. Please turn off your phones here, guys!

I was surprised both by how literally dark dark dark it was, like you cannot see your own hands dark. The food was surprisingly good. I had the 6-hour lamb rigatoni and it was really good. The dessert, a cheesecake, was also quite good. The bruschetta would have been better warm. The overall experience was well worth it, noticing how you begin to get used to the setting and the sounds of the other diners. Yukon, the waitress, is simply delightful and amazing.

It was a little stressful at the beginning, the total darkness made me aware of how much I depend on my eyes. There are a lot of questions that needed answers. The most important thing is the awareness and that is food for the soul Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate my daughter and her vegan + gluten free diet. Really appreciate the effort

Our server Joe was delightful and we had a great time dining at this restaurant. However, I ordered the chicken and ended up with food poisoning. As we were not able to see the food we were eating, we placed great trust in the people handling our food and we were let down immensely. We will not be returning.

Cant post photos of the food for obvious reasons. This was quite a unique experience and for me, I panicked as soon as I stepped inside. I eventually sort of got used to eating in the pitch dark but it was a challenging experience. Ordered the steak which was ok but nothing exceptional and in the dark it felt the portions were quite small- they did chop it up before serving otherwise eating that would have been a disaster. Also had the sangria which was so-so. I think the dessert was a sticky toffee pudding?? Definitely have to try it for the experience but its not for everyone ( me included). They had a lot of options and you ofcourse decide your food as you wait to get into the restaurant.

Went with my friends for a bachelor party. Joe is one of a kind, going to the bathroom is an experience in itself as he has to walk us to it. I will be bringing my family to this place next time.

You go to this place for the experience. Dining in complete darkness was awesome, Joe, our waiter was attentive and lovely. The food . Was not worth a $168 dollar bill. We ordered the surprises for everything the starter was I assume bread and salami with a little bit of pesto or something, not a starter in my eyes, more of a table snack. The main was really nice, it was some chicken and rice, the flavours were good but it was quite dry. Dessert was a slice of cake. We ordered a bottle of wine and was served the glasses not the bottle, understandably with the darkness, but we only had two glasses each. When we normally eat a bottle does 3 glasses or so each. overall, go, but don t expect much from the food, but the experience!!

This is one of the most interesting and unique restaurants experience Ive ever had. You will choose your food before going into the dark restaurant because you literally wont see anything once you are inside. They have some surprise items on their menu, which I highly recommend because it increases the excitement. Not seeing anything at all was a little intimidating at first, but after a while, you get used to it, and you start noticing your other senses. I was very aware of what other people were talking about, or I started touching everything to get a sense of my environment. Overall, it was a very unique and unforgettable experience.

I had a great experience with both the food and service. Our server, Joe, was fantastic. However, I had a terrible experience at the cash window. From the start, I mentioned that I had a gift card and was assured it would be fine as long as it wasnt a Groupon. When I presented my gift card at the end, they didn t accept saying it has no barcode or scan code, but had a gift card code. they refused to accept it, saying the owner had changed. My $100 gift card had no expiration date, so how was I supposed to know they no longer honored it? The staff kept telling me to email the original sender/ the previous owner and say what???? Purchasing a gift card here is risky because it might not be honored, leading to wasted money and the need to pay out of pocket. The only reason I tipped was because of Joes excellent service.

Very unique and interesting experience! We had fun with the concept and were enthusiastic in supporting a business who provides such opportunities for the visually impaired. The service was great all around. We were seated near the front door and there was a fair amount of light coming in and also from another room, which distracted from the experience - this was pretty big given how it is such an important aspect. Overall, value for money was lacking though. There was a musty smell inside as well when we entered - we were the first table of the evening.

Compared to if you were to buy the ingredients at a grocery store, the markup is about 275%, upwards to 425% if bought through commercial wholesale. After standard business inputs/operating costs and wages, you re looking at a house take/margin of about 13-33%, not including alcoholic beverages. Not a bad business at all. With munchies and a drink per person we spent about $170 after tipping 15% on a post-tax subtotal (I was only given this subtotal by the house; I usually tip on pre-tax subtotals). Server (Omid) was nice. Hostess was nice (but also seemed to be having to handle a lot on her own). We came for the pitch black dining experience, as ultimately all restaurant food can be replicated for much less at home. We were seated pretty close to the entrance so the red exit side showed through once in a while from where I was sitting. The payment/food kitchen servicing corridor was often entered and exited so my partner could see the light coming from there and therefore had to keep her eyes closed to get the full experience. The food was tasty. Nothing was bad. The spices used in the fish were fragrant. The steak was of a good cut (but more was desired when searches for more steak yielded seemingly endless amounts of potato). The appetizer was uninspired (a salsa mix of sorts with a toasted bread), but the munchies were nice, although steep for $10 per person - deep fried battered zucchini pieces sliced diagonally at a sharp angle lengthwise. Dessert was a tiramisu and a tuxedo cake. I guess in a way you could say that the appetizers and dessert were « surprises ». I m not sure if it s necessary not to disclose it so people don t feel disappointed by what they end up with and to better manage inventory to reduce loss and quality degradation (i.e. they can get rid of pantry and fridge items in the order of shelf age rather than based on customer preference. The absence of choice can be sold/marketed to a customer as part of a game where you get to test your ability to discern what you re eating. But if I were to think realistically and practically, this would be very effective for inventory management and waste reduction. Northern Light cocktail felt a bit weak and it didn t punch anywhere. Not entirely sure if the menu rotates or not but the ARR byline at the bottom of the website says 2012. I d be open to trying this concept again but maybe at another establishment with a different menu selection as I m not sure there s much more on the menu I m particularly im curious about. Parking: Not hard to find parking on the side streets for free with no limit.

Overall initial experience, we were gifted a gift certificate that had been purchased online by my step son who heard my husband and I talk about how we would be interested in having the experience. We live in the Okanagan and do not come out that often which is 6 + hours. We called a few weeks in advance to make reservations and let them know we had a gift certificate. When we arrived we were told a manager would come out and chat with us, and we were informed that we were not in the system as they had changed ownership since the certificate was purchased and the best they could do was give us 30 % Off. The GC was for $250.00. The certificate did not have an expiry date or subjects to changing owners etc. We chose to still go through as we brought my brother who is visionally impaired and never gets to go out and we came the distance specifically to go there. Very disappointed that they did not honor the full amount. It was an over all great experience during the meal food was good we had the Suprise meal it is hadnt been for the none honoring of the GC would have been excellent. One individual proceeded to say that they have changed ownership several times since. I suggested that if this was the case they should remove the online GC purchase option as they would never be honored and alot of people would be upset. .. which is not good for business. During our meal we were told something else and that it is still the same owner..... so now not sure what to believe.

Make sure you tell them of any dietary restrictions or preferences before ordering any mystery dishes. Steak salsa verde that came with asparagus and fingerling potatoes, was pretty good, but the chicken my partner had was a little bland. Waiter forgot to tell us what our entrees and desserts were when we asked. Make sure to have any gift vouchers ready before you turn off your phone to speed up bill payment. They dont typically read requests when you make a reservation online so if youre going for an anniversary, birthday, or event you need to remind them at the check in.

The appetizer was really disappointing, especially since it was a surprise and the first meal we had in the dark. It really impacts the whole experience and considering the price in general. The service, concept, atmosphere, dessert and the experience were truly unique and amazing. Main food was okay but you should know you are mainly paying for the experience and also support of some amazing waiters and waitresses. Overall I suggest it as a unique, invaluable, and eye opening experience for so many things we take for granted every day. Thank you!

Amazing experience, super nice staff. Feels like meditation! I really recommend trying it once. We had the AAA stake and it was delicious, but I found it more about the experience than food. Thank you, Omid, for your lovely service! We brought the kids who were afraid at first but soon had a blast. I dare say us adults had even more fun! Food was great in an incredibly unique setting, we got quite messy and marvelled at how Omid excelled at bringing our dishes and clearing our plates. One small thing I realized after settling the bill was we were charged the full price for three surprise mocktails with no alcohol, but again I m more than happy to pay for an establishment that supports such an educational & memorable experience. Its impossible to describe how dark the restaurant is, it really needs to be experienced. The staff is really friendly helpful...the food is great and can be eaten as finger food which is good since its impossible to see it to get it onto a fork.

Amazing experience and highly recommend it to everyone! We loved our server, Yuko, who Choo Chooed us to our table! Our food was amazing and a lot of it with great options! Our surprise starter was a delicious shrimp bruschetta on toasted baguette slices. For the entree I had the steak with blue cheese which came with roasted potatoes and asparagus - plenty to fill you up! My friend had the surprise dinner which was chicken with roasted vegetables on rice - loved it! Surprise dessert was Tiramisu and mocha cake - generous portions! If you haven t checked this place out it s definitely something you ve never experienced and should try it at least once! We loved it from the moment we entered! So this is definitely more of an experience than quality of food restaurant. Its truly completely blacked out, no light what so ever inside. You order outside and then led inside via a Congo line by your waiter and are helped into your seat. Bobby who was our waiter made the evening, he was above and beyond. The food on the other hand was a solid 3 out 5. The main steaks had allot of silver and very chewy. The potatoes were amazing on the other hand. Definitely an experience my wife enjoyed.

The concept is cool, and our server Yuko was very kind and helpful. My only issue was the food/drinks themselves, which you could tell was something that you could find at Costco, but for $200. Just because I can t see doesn t mean I can t tell when something I eat or drink is low quality.

They managed to book a table - said they had a lovely experience except they were charged more and only used the price I paid for the Groupon not the value of the Groupon (which was more) - the Groupon was not expired. My daughter is in her teens. Its a shame they did this to them. I will never recommend this place to anyone. It was supposed to have everything included they asked for nothing extra unless you ate charging $20/drink ? As they ordered a tea and a ginger I believe. It states nothing of additional charges on their Groupon write up either. Edit: I bought Groupon late Dec they used Groupon in March- it was prior to the expiry date. The reservation was under their name as they booked it I paid for it, they did not go on the weekend

It is really dark and there is no light inside. The food was very delicious and the cocktails as well. We ordered lamb ragu and steak. We got lychee mojito and surprise cocktail and they were both very good. Omid our server was really helpful and we had a really nice time there.

Amazing experience, the whole idea is awesome, unique and inspiring! Hiring the visually disabled is something a company should get more applause for doing! Joe was awesome and funny! Our needs were met! I had a gluten allergy and had no problem finding gluten free stuff on the menu, they can change pretty much everything to be gluten free! My only real complaint is that the prices were super high and the food was a solid 7.5/10 which isn t bad at all! It s more for the experience and I m so happy with everything!

Brought my gf as a Valentines gift and heres our experience: Starting with the negatives: First a very disappointing appetizer which felt like a Costco sample, consisting of a thin slice of baguette, a very thin slice of ham, and just one slice of tomato. I was so confused that I had to ask and confirm whether this was the appetizer or a complementary starter. It was indeed the appetizer... After that we experienced extremely slow and disappointing service, as we were told main dishes are coming soon, however we were made to wait over 30 minutes without a doubt. We were hungry and it felt like they had forgotten us for a long time. At the end we couldnt even have our dessert in peace without them reminding us that they are closing and we are the last customer. Well, maybe if you havent forgotten about us, and made us go hungry, then we would be having our dessert earlier? The description says the whole experience lasts 90 minutes. We had gone inside at 8:30pm and we got out at 11pm. Thats 2.5 hours. Thats when we realized the feeling of having waited 40 minutes after appetizers was no imagination at all. If you are going to make us wait that long, at least provide us with a real appetizer to satisfy us? And not a sample size of baguette, ham, and tomato slice, which wouldnt even feed a rat. Is this worth the $150 I paid? For the service, its unacceptable and the only reason I didnt say anything was to keep it a memorable experience. But I was definitely not happy as I wanted the experience to be way better for us. The positives: The unique dark atmosphere and unique experience of eating in the dark. That is it. Overall a one time thing, which COULD have been a returning experience instead if the negatives hadnt overshadowed the positives so much.

Its a whole new eating and dining experience. Its literally dark inside. You cant see your hand in front of your face. You are served by visually impaired persons. The food was delicious and enough to fill you up. I highly recommend this place.

Its all about the experience. You order your food outside, then youre guided in by your server who is very nice and accommodating. Youre then sat at a table and given instructions about where everything is, its pretty crazy that you literally cannot see anything anywhere. The service was great and kind and quick. The food on the other hand was not of top quality but it was still good, just not worth the price if it wasnt along with the cool experience. After going once, I probably wouldnt need to go again, but would recommend to try.

I brought kids. My 5 year old enjoyed it all and ate really well. My older daughter and her friend had to get used to the dark and was fine after they did. The table we sat at was a round table that folded up to be a smaller square table and the flap kept coming down and bothering all of us. The dark was enjoyable except when drinks were spilt, 3 of them. I would have loved the hole thing but the table was frustrating and I did tell them about it.

Not the best experience We were a table of 6 and we got the groupon for this experience (there is no chance I would ever pay full price for the experience we had). We arrived for our reservation at 8:15pm and many other people who arrived after us got seated before us. The seating hostess became frustrated with us after we approached her a couple times to ask why we are waiting so long. She started shouting aggressively and loudly for waiters to come outside which made us feel uncomfortable. We did not get seated until close to 9pm. Our food also took a while to come out- I had to run to the bathroom and I saw the time, our main dishes arrived after 10pm. Once it was time to pay, the cashier failed to tell us that there was a gratuity charge and still asked us to put in a tip. Not the best impression, we are quite disappointed. We probably will not come back. The only reason why we are giving this place a couple stars is because our food was tasty and our waiter Joe was really lovely and funny, we are really glad we got paired with him. If you go, hopefully you get to meet Joe :)

TLDR: terrible food, not a comfortable atmosphere and way too expensive. I visited the dark table for the second time last night. The food is horrible; it will cost you $50+ a head for some crackers with pico de gallo, half a chicken breast and a some time overcooked veggies. The first time I was in, the atmosphere was good. It wasn t too crowded and completely dark. Last night was the opposite. It was so loud my date couldn t even hear me when I was talking to her across the table. They also kept a curtain slightly open where light was visible. Completely detracting from the atmosphere. Additionally, it was very cold inside which also detracted from the experience. The service was also poor. Our assistant kept forgetting about us and had to be called 4 times after we paid to help us exit. I will never go back.

I love the overall experience, learning how to eat in the dark and being able to have an immersive experience by not having the sense of sight. We loved the main food, it tasted great, however the appetizer and dessert was disappointing. Our server, Bob, was extremely rude after we paid. We asked to go to the washroom and he told us that we should just go to the cafe down the street, which was already closed at the time we finished eating. He then guided us in a rush, despite my wife being pregnant, telling us that we need to be faster. It would have been a better experience if we were with a different server. Experiencing it once was great, however, would not be going back.

I had such a fun time, all thanks to Bobby! He was so kind and kept our conversations with him lively and funny, we were laughing the whole night, and we had so much more fun in there than we couldve imagined for being in the dark. I would definitely recommend going :)

Not for me. Hard time to eat mindfully when you have little idea what is on your plate or where, so I just hovered over my plate and scooped whatever I got with the fork into my mouth. My 3 companions enjoyed it more but said they wouldnt repeat it. So, YMMV. Sitting in the total darkness just wasnt for me. Food overall was good and the service was also good.

Just came back from Dark Table. Really, what an experience! What caught my attention into going to this restaurant was to experience a glimpse of what s life like for visually impaired people. The food was delicious, but so challenging to find it without seeing it! Definitely our other senses gets heightened. I loved not knowing what I was going to eat for starter and dessert - surprise until it reached my mouth, and then trying to decode all the flavours! My fish of the of the day was perfect! The salmon was juicy , the vegetables were so well cooked and juicy. My partner had the steak- the potatoes and the steak were amazing and well cooked, had a little more salt than expected though! And the rissotto that my brother got was cooked to perfection, with massive pieces of shrimp!! For starters we had the bruschetta - it was amazing and cronchy, for dessert however , we all received different cakes and they were ALL perfect!! Great restaurant! Highly recommended!!

Super humbling although I started getting nervous in the beginning and panicking as I didn t expect it to be pitch black dark as I got used to it I really started to enjoy everything. Temper your expectations, the prices and idea don t equate to a fancy dining experience. It feels like your patronage is to support the visually impaired not for a nice dining experience. Firstly our server was excellent attentive and friendly. The complete darkness is unique and makes you empathise with the blind but fails to enhance the dining experience. Instead of heightening your other senses to enjoy the flavours of the meal or to have a more intimate conversation it only highlights the loud ambiance and bland, dry and basic meals that are given. The meals don t have to be visual masterpieces or super complex in their construction. A well thought out and well executed menu full of flavour and texture is what is needed to enhance the dining experience, turning it from a charitable opportunity for the visually impaired to a fine dining experience. I went with my girlfriend for a date with a reservation of 6:30 and were seated at 7:15. Tables are without water glasses and the napkins provided are disposable paper ones which made it immediately feel gimmicky and cheap. We had the two course meal including starters and mains. The starters were tiny but of good quality. We both had the surprise main which was risotto, basic vegetables and leek wrapped fish. We both mistook the fish for egg for at least half the meal as it was so gummy and dry. The cocktails were nice but a bit expensive for their size. The meal ended up costing us $114.00 before tip.

I didn t go for the food, I went for the experience and it absolutely didn t disappoint! Something you have to try at least once. Please tip your waitstaff generously (and I am saying this as someone who is fed up with tipping culture in Vancouver). For one, being served and guided in the dark is seriously impressive. But not many places hire visually impaired workers either, and so by patronizing this business we are able to support dignified jobs for visually impaired workers.

Too many people using their phones inside. Or brining anything glowy. Was told about my lactose intolerance and they didnt tell me how it would affect my meal. Like most places they dont carry lactose free milk. Was very disappointed with my altered meal. I ordered mashed potatoes. Could use margarine and lactose free stuff. And I got no mushrooms either. I love those two things. Had I known they were gonna butcher my whole meal to the point I was given roasted fries basically and no mushrooms. It was incredibly disappointing of a meal

Went yesterday for my first time. Was with a large group. We were early and let us go in early. Orders are taken before you go into darkness. Omid, our blind server, led us to our table. He helps you get seated. I loved my suprise appy and dessert and the risotto I ordered. I thought the portions were plenty. We left full. The whole room sang happy birthday to the guest at my table which was really fun. Great service and a fun experience. Totally worth the $51 for the three course meal.

Such an amazing experience. Highly recommend. The starters were fantastic. So full of flavor. I ordered the fish of the day, unfortunately it was overcooked and very dry. The veggies it came with were nothing special. Tasted like a garden salad with big pieces of tomato. I definitely wish I had ordered something else, however I do not regret this experience. Not really sure how the rate the ambience here, given that we were sitting in complete darkness, but the music wasn t too loud and the restaurant wasn t crowded (at least, from what I could hear). The service was amazing. Our waiter was very kind and moved around quickly, which was amazing considering it was so dark. The food itself was not spectacular. I ordered the chicken entree and it was very dry. It came with mashed potatoes, which were very bland and definitely needed gravy. The dessert was good, I believe it was a slice of tiramisu cake and it was soft, moist and delicious.

Its truly an one of a kind experience! The whole dining area is dark and all the servers are visually impaired. You will be provided menu and the host outside will take your order before you head in, the servers in the dining area will not be able to take extra orders. The service was great, I went by myself and since it was not busy, my server actually spent a little time to chat with me and kept me accompanied. Make sure to remember your servers name, you need to call them to take you to the bathroom. I recommend doing the surprise for your main course, its super fun guesing what you are eating lol. Our server was very friendly and guided us around the restaurant safely. The service times were a little long. I think our server may have told us to call out his name if we needed anything but I wasn t really comfortable doing that. It would be great if there was a way to call for the server discreetly, or if they checked in on guests a little more often. The food was good, and plated in a way that simplified the eating process. I like how you pay a set price for 2 or 3 courses, but I felt the price was on the high side. However, considering the intention of the restaurant and providing employment to visually impaired people, it s probably worth it. I would certainly recommend it to others for a unique and exciting dining experience.

I made a reservation a few months in advanced while planning our vacation. I selected the first time slot available (I believe it was 5:30 pm) and we were seated right away. For almost 30 minutes we were the only patrons in the restaurant. We did two 3-course surprise meals with munchies and two drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food and drinks. I tell everyone about our Dark Table because you are not going to find an experience like this anywhere else.

A very unique dining experience - great for a memorable occasion. This was a very different meal than any other that Ive had - definitely worth a try if youre looking for something new. You wont be blown away by the food but its still worth it - reasonably priced and a dinner you wont forget.

Amazing experience and a whole lot of fun food was very good and our waiter yuko was very pleasant and helpful throughout the whole experience . It is a really amazing restaurant and is definetly worth the visit will definetly be back !! It is pitch black and no light at all so amazing experience

Went there with no expectations and had an absolute blast! The server was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, I do not remember their name. The price is definitely more than I would normally pay considering what we were served. We got a basic salad with apples and raisins as an appetizer, potatoes and roasted eggplant for the main course, and one small cup of icecream for dessert. Considering these are all cheap ingredients, the price seemed a bit too high. What I understood is that I was also paying for the experience, not just the food. I read some negative reviews to have a sense of what people are saying and I saw some people complaining about the noise. I also found it quite noisy, but I perceived the noise differently. I believe people were talking so much because no one was on their phones, which was so beautiful. Without a phone and without visual senses, communication became the main entertainment factor. I also read that some negative reviews mentioned slow service. I did not experience that. We went on a Friday evening and service had a great speed, no delays. Moreover, it was someone s birthday and everyone sang happy birthday together - twice! That was so nice. The whole experience made me feel like part of a community, not just separated tables having regular meal at a restaurant. Thanks everyone, I m definitely returning. Vegetarian options: We had vegan meals. I was very happy they had that option. Dietary restrictions: We were asked twice about dietary restrictions and allergies.

We came here as apart of our honeymoon trip. 10/10 would recommend!!! Our server was Yuko and she was beyond amazing. The food and rest of the staff were amazing! Music was on point, our experience was absolutely fabulous. I have nothing but praises for this place. We can t wait to come back again on our next trip to Vancouver!!!

We had high expectations from this place because of all the reviews but the food was really bad. It was so bland, no flavour. Even mcd is better than this place.

I ve been to Dark Table twice now with two different groups of friends and the overall experience both times was very positive! The first time was a lot more pleasant as the second time I went, my friends and I were sat immediately next to another table of four who had profane conversations, kept interrupting our conversations, and behaved inappropriately (belching loudly, using phones, etc.). The food and service were both delightful and the staff are exquisite. They truly do the most to make the experience joyful. Only food critique from our most recent trip was that the rigatoni was quite cold upon arrival for my friend and I that both ordered it! The steak, risotto, chicken and surprise dishes (appetizers & desserts) were all sublime, however. Highly recommend Dark Table for a unique culinary experience!

What an amazing experience! All the staff was so friendly and patient, the food was really good and the concept is definitely something that you should try at least once! Yuko was so sweet and funny! A little pricey but it s worth it for a special occasion.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience that is a must try! This place was absolutely an amazing experience! Honestly, from the service, to the food, everything was absolutely incredible. Yuko was our server, and she was very clear and a truly wonderful guide throughout our dinner. The ragu pasta was very delicious, and the surprise munchies and surprise starters and dessert were also quite delicious, and it was quite fun to feel around the table and eat with my hands a little. For those who may have some over-stimulation or sensory issues, my mom and I found this place very soothing. It is a very close walk from the 002 or the 044 bus lines. Only a 4-5 minute walk away. We definitely will go back when we are in Vancouver again.

Dining in the dark was such an amazing experience. Joe, our server was hilarious and seriously made our night!! The food on the other hand was kind of mid for the price that is charged. I would go more for the experience than the food!

A bit expensive if you are on a budget, my bill for 4 people came out to $210 without ordering drinks. But I would absolutely recommend trying here at least once. The experience was absolutely worth it and the food was amazing.

First experience at this type of restaurant. It was a wonderful beautiful journey through eating and experiencing everything without sight. Also their bathrooms are something to talk about, it was a bidet style toliet and had a seat warmer too. Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate a gluten friendly diner.

I heard so much about this place so I booked a table for two (me and my date). It was supposed to be a great evening only if people would have remembered to bring our food (they forgot our order and we waited for more than 40 min, after our starters) And my date and I had an argument about it. And we are not on good terms now. Thanks for ruining my day. *Horrible service* , wont recommend it at all.

Phenomenal experience from start to finish. Was so much fun. My partner has essential tremours and can be self-conscious when eating this was the perfect anniversary spot. The risotto is out of this world good. Cant wait to come back again for another special occasion

I would give it 2 stars but because of our server yuko I m giving this place 3 stars. Yuko did an amazing job hosting and serving us. Attentive and so much care, thank you Yuko! I love coming to dark table, it has been my 4th time coming to this restaurant, it s such a fun place to experience. However, this time the food didnt deliver. The portion of the steak entrée was 90/10.. 90%being potato/ 10% being steak. Thought I had dropped my steak on the table since I only had two bites. But I didn t find anything dropped. On the risotto main the entire time I was just eating rice. And rice only. Overall my friends (3 others) and I were not satisfied with our food. The desert also could have been better for the price this place costs. But love you yuko

A really powerful experience that is an interesting journey in conversation, flavors, texture, and understanding our own senses. The staff is amazing and the experience is a great way to focus on each work and each bite. We spend an evening in a completely dark dining room with lots of guests. The food was like decent generic wedding food. The food experience was enhanced in the darkness. In a regular restaurant the food would have been not one to return to, but in this experience it was better. There is so much I can talk about this - I think it s best experienced. It was great hearing about Lisa our server s story. It helped me build more empathy for the people I was with and the people who live with visual impairments.

Food is top notch. The absence of the visual sense really does heighten the other senses and enhances flavor profiles in a unique way. The steak with blue cheese was phenomenal, definitely a different experience trying to eat in the dark but well worth it all in all. Joe is a master at making you feel comfortable in an atmosphere that would otherwise make most people very anxious. Well definitely be back!

As a sighted person, I was unprepared for the amount of touching involved, because I was also unprepared for the literal blackout darkness. For some reason I was under the impression the lighting would be akin to a night sky with no moon. It is not. Aside from the bathrooms, the darkness is REAL and therefore the experience is guided by touch. Adjust your expectations accordingly! I feel that the dishes could have been so much more creative with unexpected flavour and texture pairings. I read a review comparing the dishes to wedding food, which I agree with. Because the food is familiar, after the first few bites my brain knew what to expect and filled in the gaps, downgrading the experience to simply finger eating in the dark. Im glad I had the opportunity to try Dark Table once, but I dont think I would go again. Dietary restrictions: Accommodating towards allergies
