Located in the heart of Vancouver, BC, Five Sails Restaurant offers an exquisite fine dining experience. Our talented chefs use the freshest local ingredients to craft visually stunning and delicious dishes. Recognized with numerous awards, Five Sails is celebrated for its culinary excellence and exceptional service. Perched above the waterfront, our restaurant provides breathtaking views of Vancouver's harbor, the North Shore Mountains, and Stanley Park. The elegant dining room, with floor-to-ceiling windows, ensures every seat offers a spectacular view, perfect for any occasion.
We celebrated our anniversary here, and it was perfect! Martina, our server, was so friendly and made sure everything was just right. The cheese platter and lobster were incredible, but the real star was the dessert—Daria’s pastry was next-level amazing. The romantic atmosphere made the night unforgettable. Can’t wait to come back!
Went here for their Versailles themed high tea. I find most high teas to be lacking in value for price but Five Sails truly impressed me. We sat along the giant window overlooking coal harbour and the sea plane area. Even without a window seat though, it is easy to see the view. The service was excellent and thoughtful. There were even waiters dressed up in the Rococo fashions true to style of the Louis XIV court. The food was delightful and satisfying. I especially enjoyed all their savory items. We were out to celebrate my birthday, and to my surprise they brought out a couple little birthday treats: a whimsical cotton candy that resembled the hair-do of Marie Antoinette and another dessert, which made the occasion extra special. I look forward to returning for dinner or another special menu.
This is one of the best high tea experiences we’ve ever had. It feels on par with the Empress high tea. While the Empress offers a more traditional approach, this one stands out with its modern twist. I love how they keep it seasonal. The Fall-themed high tea we had today was delightful. The service was excellent, polite, attentive, and thoughtful. And the view? Absolutely unbeatable. It wasn’t very busy during Sunday lunchtime, but I highly recommend making a reservation to snag a table with a view. A truly memorable experience!
We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience. William was so nice and made us feel special. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. We’ll definitely be back for future celebrations!
Everything was incredible! All the staff were lovely, Michael, our server, was attentive and friendly, and the food was amazing. We got to enjoy a variety of dishes, and each and every one of them was delicious. From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, all the staff were warm and welcoming and made the experience very memorable. Overall, we felt incredibly special and really enjoyed our night. We left satisfied and happy, it was a lovely evening.
We visited Five Sails to celebrate my husband's birthday with his parents. The restaurant offers an elegant atmosphere that feels like an escape from the ordinary. The sophisticated interior design and the stunning view of the North Shore's sea and mountains from our seats added to the extraordinary experience. The staff provided courteous and professional service, answering all our questions about drinks and dishes with expertise and sharing knowledge that enhanced our dining experience. We were able to order with the perfect balance and portion sizes. The sommelier's recommended wine pairings were impeccable, complementing the dishes wonderfully. My husband and father-in-law especially enjoyed the wines and even ordered additional bottles, thoroughly satisfied. The attentive service felt akin to a luxury hotel stay, yet each staff member was warm and friendly. I always order my favorite dessert, the apple-shaped treat. The presentation is beautiful, and the balance of sweet and tart flavors is unique, making it delightful even when I'm already full. The prices are certainly on the higher side, but given the quality, they feel fully justified. Five Sails is a place that makes special occasions even more memorable. Every visit is a truly enjoyable experience, thanks to the perfect combination of atmosphere, service, and cuisine. I highly recommend it to friends and family visiting Vancouver, and I look forward to our next visit for another wonderful experience.
I have never heard of Five Sails Restaurant before. This place was recommended by a friend. We went for high tea here. I normally try to avoid high tea as I don't find the food very exciting. HOWEVER! This was a very memorable experience from the time I got seated to the very end. Jesse, attended our table. He provided excellent, excellent, service. He was so attentive and detailed throughout our time there. Even though we went for high tea, he gave us fine dining treatment! For example, when we stepped away from our seat, he re-folded our table napkins neatly. For me, these things catches my attention. He was friendly, funny, yet professional. Ask to be in his section! Jason, the GM, came over to greet our table as well. He was dressed in a themed attire for the high tea. We were also greeted by Alex, the culinary chef. He won gold in a culinary competition, and I am not surprised after tasting the high tea menu. This month's high tea theme is Versailles. From the menu, center piece, gold flaked pillars, and having the GM in the attire of that time was so fitting for the theme. The food! So detailed and pretty! I really didn't want to eat certain things! I do recommend to try the high tea here. After this experience, I will go back and try their dinner menu.
Five stars hardly seem enough to capture the brilliance of this Vancouver gem. This is truly one of the city’s finest restaurants, a hidden treasure not yet discovered by many, offering not only exquisite food but also breathtaking views. The staff are exceptional—kind, poised, and endlessly attentive. They are always eager to share the story behind their beautifully crafted dishes and the high-quality ingredients they use. And let’s talk about the pastry chef—she’s a true artist! Her ability to blend flavors, colors, and textures results in desserts that are nothing short of extraordinary. I highly recommend trying 'The Apple,' a masterpiece in its own right. With a menu that changes every season, you can always count on a fresh, dynamic culinary experience that never grows old.
Perfect location for a special occasion. Service was top notch as always. Jesse was our server and he was super friendly, attentive and professional. I dont think I have met a server with a more pleasant attitude than him. The other staff were just as great and enjoyed interacting with customers. We were there for the Christmas afternoon tea today - food and drinks were excellent, just as we had expected. We did not leave disappointed at all. Would highly recommend :)
We had our holiday celebration dinner at five sails and it was beyond amazing. Food was exquisite and delicious. One of the best fine dining in the city. Dessert was heavenly delicious. The Apple is the best thing I had for this year. Overall we are very impressed. Thanks for such a wonderful night.
Five Sails Restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience! The food was perfectly prepared, and the waterfront view added to the ambiance. The service was top-notch truly a special place for a memorable meal.
Every single thing we ate was incredible. The cocktails were equally creative and exceeded our expectations. Our server, Esther, was so friendly, made great suggestions, and was more than accommodating to dietary restrictions. I can t wait to go back next time I visit Vancouver.
Among those people with the budget for fine dining experiences, there are restaurants that provide you with a great experience for the money and those that dont live up to the hype. Unfortunately, my experience at Five Sails wasnt what I expected from such a well-respected establishment. My party and I were seated promptly and the staff were accommodating of a few absences due to unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately, there were challenges in getting to the restaurant because the Pan Pacific Hotel lacked clear signposting, so several people in our group had to ask others for directions or wandered around until they eventually found the restaurant. Service was quite slow despite the small, three course menu. Ive had experience with other fancy restaurants that provide significantly more courses without the same amount of waiting. Although we were provided with bread and butter to tide us over between courses, I still left without feeling full even though one of my group members gave me their dessert. I was also quite surprised to see that there was no bathroom within the restaurant itself. When eating at such a fancy establishment, I think it reflects a little poorly if that experience doesnt extend to the bathrooms. I had to use the bathrooms in the Pan Pacific Hotel which were good but not exceptional. Atmosphere was quite nice, with views out into the waterfront of Vancouver harbour! The food, although small in portions, was very delicious! I ordered the Bisque, the Sablefish, and the Creme Bruleé, and got the opportunity to try the Apple Tatin as well. The flavours were distinct and powerful despite being quite simple. The non-alcoholic drink I ordered was also delicious and unique! I did have a good time, but felt that it was not the experience I would expect for the price.
It was such a great day! Of course, the food was delicious, the atmosphere and scenery were nice, and everyone was very friendly, so I was very, very happy with my parents. My parents are big into Korean food, so if they dont eat kimchi even for a day, they get sick to their stomachs, and my father is especially uncomfortable with the spices that arent used in our country, so heres the meat. Even though I ate lobster, my parents didnt mention kimchi at all and just said it was delicious! I came here because I wanted to eat at a nice place with my family, but if the food isnt delicious, its a disaster. But those worries were for naught and the food was just the best! In particular, the bread and pudding-like soup that came as appetizers? (I forgot the name haha) suited my taste so well that I remember them the most. I also ordered oysters as an appetizer, and I think oysters are better eaten in Korea. Its a shame there arent a few points for foreign food. I guess its because I eat oysters in . Also, my parents especially hate the smell of meat, so I tried not to order lamb, but my mother said she wanted to eat it, so I ordered it, and it was amazing! The flavor of the meat was vivid, there was no odor at all, and it was completely tender, so I liked the portion size more than the steak. Some family members said the steak was more delicious! And I dont know if it was a coincidence, but we were assigned a Korean server, and he was very kind and explained the food. Im glad you did a good job Its doubled! The main chef is also Korean, so he came out and sliced the steak for me. It was really cool, and thanks to the sommelier, I had a satisfying glass of wine! I really recommend it, everyone, please go
Excellent food thats expertly prepared, top notch service and stunning views. What more could you ask for.
We booked a reservation at Five Sails for our first time in Vancouver, which was also a celebration trip for a friend graduating a schooling program. We were lucky enough to have a spot located near the windows with a great view overlooking the Harbour. Our view and the complimentary bread that was given was probably the only part of the evening we enjoyed. We were a party of 4, and nobody enjoyed the food. We felt as if everything lacked flavour, and overall just a very bland experience. Presentation of each dish was lovely, but the taste definitely lacked. By the end of the night, not a single one of us finished our meal not due to size. We went into it knowing portions would be small, but figured the courses would have been extraordinary. Price was far too steep for what was actually delivered. Overall it was very disappointing and we left extremely underwhelmed. I would recommend choosing another location to experience Vancouver s fine dining (they do exist!)
I was here for a girls date and we had the Versailles afternoon tea. All the savouries were delicious - especially the ham & cheese crispy toast and the mushroom quiche. Service was impeccable! Our server Jesse was super friendly and kept our tea pots filled, and also took some great photos :) He helped us pack up our leftovers nicely as we were feeling pretty full near the end. The view was also amazing today as there was some sun and blue skies. Definitely one of my favourite places for afternoon tea in Vancouver! Dietary restrictions: They are accommodating with a variety of dietary restrictions.
Best chef in town! I would love to go back :)
Me and my bestie went here last month to celebrate our birthday and it was one of the most memorable nights we ever had. The ambience and decoration is great, service is beyond and attentive, especially when they will use a crumber to collect all the crumbs on the table after each course, which I have never seen in the other fine dining restaurants. Food is excellent with beautiful plating! The seabass and mussle is so fresh that by taking one bite, you would feel like youre on the sea. This place is a must try!
What an awesome experience. We had our company holiday get together there. We were a group of 20 so they put us in a private room. The view was amazing, the service impeccable (our table had Martina who was absolutely lovely and engaging). The food was delicious. We had a preset menu and it was honestly full of items I wouldn t normally order but delicious. Truffle brioche! Beef tenderloin! Crème brule. It is a nicer place and the food is delicious. Highly recommend.
Fabulous high tea, with a beautiful view of the inlet. Our server, Jesse, was top notch, with impeccable service.
Annual holiday high tea with friends was a huge success. The food was lovely and cannot say enough about the service from everyone at the restaurant. Jason the GM dressed up as the nutcracker was the cherry on top. All thats needed is the recipe for the eggnog cocktail. Cannot wait to come back !
Jesse was fantastic! We loved our Tea at Five Sails
Had the most lovely tea and Jesse was an outstanding part of our experience! Exceptional and personal service. Highly recommend Five Sails High Tea!
Thank you Martina for a lovey evening. The food was incredible, service amazing, and the flambé show by Mr. Jason extremely creative and entertaining.
Had the pleasure of having my first fine dining experience here and all I can say is I was blown away. From the moment you step foot through the door to the moment you leave, they treat you with the utmost respect and kindness. When I booked my reservation with them online, there was a notes section asking for details on the occasion/reason for visit and I unknowingly put anniversary for what I thought would be general survey/info purpose but to my surprise they accommodated through constant acknowledgement and a pleasant complimentary anniversary dessert at the end :) The food was outstanding in both quality and presentation! The ingredients used in each dish complimented each other like pieces of a puzzle and the wine pairings really pieced it all together. I thank you Five Sails and all of your staff for the best dining experience I have ever taken apart in. Thank you!
Beef is really delicious. Oysters is so fresh
We had a wonderful lunch experience. Service and view were excellent. Soup that came with lobster rolls was extremely salty. Other than that, everything else was delicious Best part of our lunch was the food presentation. Every single dish looks so beautiful!
Excellent services, excellent food.
Service was amazing. The staff was friendly fun and very attentive. Food was all amazing, views were great. Afternoon Tea is amazing, and dinner was fantastic. Would absolutely recommend.
An Experience that Sails you to a place of extraordinary care and perfection - We celebrated a milestone birthday at the Five Sails, where the care, quality of food, and atmosphere reached the highest levels achievement. Planning the event with Sibyl was effortless as she was so accommodating in any requests that we had. She guided us kindly through the menus, made the desired changes, suggested options that we had not considered - It was a collaborative partnership that resulted in the most memorable experience. Thank you Sibyl! On the event day we were greeted warmly by each team member at the Five Sails. Jason, the GM, and the entire group there were amazing! Special thank you to Martina who took great care of our group and offered special attention to any of our needs. She was incredible. This combined with the exceptional views from the restaurant, provided an atmosphere that was world class. The food was some of the very best we have had. Thank you Chef Alex Kim and his team for offering delicious preparations that honored the ingredients and delivered on taste and presentation. Some of the highlight were : The whipped burrata sungold tomatoes, fresh basil, compressed strawberries pickled pistachio, modena balsamic Haida Gwaii Halibut - herb smashed fingerling potatoes, lemon butter roasted summer vegetables ( the sauce with this fish is mindblowing) Canadian Prime Beef Tenderloin pommes purée, braised short rib ragout summer vegetables, merlot jus Dessert - They were all exceptional but the apple passionfruit compôte, vanilla moussewhite chocolate, crème anglaise, sablé breton was heaven on a plate! The presentation for this dish was beautiful. Thank you again for a memorable celebration - You provided us with heart filled memories that will last a life time and... and the reason why the Five Sails was easily a Five Star experience.
It is such a pleasure to visit a restaurant where the atmosphere is so calm, the service so gracious, and you can have a pleasant conversation without loud music! Five Sails has sensitive, professional servers who seem to really engage with their jobs. The food on offer is interestingly presented and very delicious. This is a special place in our city. Lets support them!
Our Daughter recommended for high tea as it was a special Birthday treat for my wife , madd the reservation for 1.00pm and unfortunately had to change if to 2.00pm which was very nice of them to do . We ordered the Hight tea and being Muslims we are restricted with some items on the menu, hence we asked for substitute instead of the ham and Duck. Unfortunately my wife smelt something as not being right and she was correct there was ham in the sandwich despite our request it just threw us off and ruined the great atmosphere and ambience which was awesome but it left a bad taste . Our waitress was exceptional to say the least (Loraie) always checking and she was very apologetic as also the item with the Duck was not substituted , with an organization of such high caliber we did not expect this , hopefully next time they will be more careful and pay attention ,overall an awesome experience despite our Vancouver rain on the 20th Thanks Loraie and Team
Excellent
Food was great. Our service via William was great. A must go place if in Vancouver BC.
Everything was spectacular!
perfect dinner, even made my engagement celebration more memoriable
Gorgeous views, excellent customer service and High-Tea selection was great.
We had a wonderful lunch at Five Sails. The food and service were top notch.
An amazing experience at the Versailles themed high Tea! Thank you to Jesse and Jason for making my birthday so special!
This was one of the best afternoon teas I ve had! The details were incredible! Jesse our server was very knowledgeable and professional! Thank you for making my friend s birthday special Dietary restrictions: No pork! They accommodated with no issues
Our family booked five sail to celebrate our birthdays in March (the 3 of us have the same birthday), the food was great, but I was surprised that no one said anything about our birthday. Maybe we were spoiled by other restaurants, but I wish the server could at least say happy birthday to my daughter, I would tip him more generously. But other than that, his service is pretty good. One more thing, we got lost and went to the pub one level down. We thought it was five sail and found it odd that it s that casual. Then I got a call from five sail so I told the hostess I was already at the restaurant. Then my kid went to the washroom, it took us a while to figure out we were at the wrong place. So we ended up showing up late (about 15mins late) I told the hostess we got lost, but she told me I should just tell her if I m running late. I think she might think I was lying or something, but I was a little uncomfortable about that. It s probably just a misunderstanding. But we will not come back again.
Had an amazing experience at Five Sails to celebrate a very special day. All the staff were very accommodating and professional, especially Jane and Kei who made sure the evening went perfectly.
Easily one of Vancouver s best restaurants - Five Sails is our go to for celebrations - group dinners - romantic dinners as we re always guaranteed an excellent time. The room overlooking the harbor is beautiful. The menu is deep and always changing. The wine prices are excellent. What makes Five Sails extra special is the staff. They are superb. Bravo Five Sails.
A great place for amazing view, tasty food and good company.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Five Sails Restaurant in Vancouver, and it was truly an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of the city with panoramic views of the waterfront and mountains, Five Sails offers not just a meal, but a complete sensory experience. The ambiance is elegant and sophisticated, perfect for a special occasion or a romantic evening out. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent service that made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the evening. As for the food, every dish was a masterpiece. I had the wagyu beef, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delightful red wine jus. My dining partner had the Wild sable fish, which was equally impressive, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Overall, Five Sails exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and breathtaking views makes it a standout dining destination in Vancouver. I highly recommend Five Sails for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable culinary experience.
Martina and the whole team at Five Sails were fabulous. The chef s tasting menu was outstanding. We also had the mocktail pairings with the tasting menu, which was such a treat and so rare to find. Thank you for an amazing experience!
went there for my bday yesterday , the service is good. the bisque is really good , just wish it would be a bit more . my friends have the duck breast which is really tasty but my lamb is kinda tasteless and chewy and was told the salt and pepper disappeared after it was cooked , interesting answer. but it was nice of them to give me a free birthday dessert.
Today is our 8th anniversary at Five sails. Every year we come on birthday and anniversary. They never disappoint! Special thanks to Roxy for providing amazing service. It made the day even better. The sweets at the end was the best! Thank you again Roxy!
I attended the Rombauer wine pairing dinner last night. Chef prepared wonderful creations which were as much artful in their flavour as they were in their presentation and wine pairing. Global Group Wine Director Sarah hosted the event, bringing rich descriptions of each wine as they were being poured. The service was exceptional as the service leads at the front of house including Michael, coordinated perfectly timed food presentations at the table for each course. Bob from Rombauer explained the rich history of the winery, and their wine making methods including one employee who knows the wines intimately as he has been manually stirring the barrels as his passion for 35 years! Five Sails always does a remarkable job of the food and service, and yesterday s set menu wine pairing dinner was no exception. If you get a chance to attend a Glowbal Group wine pairing dinner at any of their restaurants (Riley s, Coast, Glowbal, Italian Kitchen, Black and Blue etc.) I d suggest you take the chance and go. You ll likely see Sarah there, you ll have a wonderful culinary experience and also get to taste some great wine. My hat is off to Sarah, and the Five Sails team for pulling off a spectacular experience.
Fantastic food, view and service! I loved their squash soup Parking: Underground parking Food : 5/5 |
Amazing! Five Sails was the location of our recent company recognition lunch and it could not have been better! Food, Service and Atmosphere was more than 5 stars!!! We hope to return in the future. Thank you to Tatiana, Sibyl, Jessie and EVERYONE associated with Five Sails. Again, just a wonderful experience and would recommend to all!!
I celebrated my birthday at Five Sails this past week, and it was truly unforgettable. The service, food, and attention to detail were beyond impressive. Our server, Ramon, was incredibly warm and friendly, making us feel welcome and taken care of throughout the evening. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the cherry jubilee flambé dessert, prepared tableside by the General Manager, Jason. Watching Jason perform the flambé was mesmerizing he s so skilled and knowledgeable about this classic dessert, and it s amazing to see him keeping this beautiful art alive. Not to mention, the dessert itself was absolutely delicious! My grandmother and I both enjoyed the tasting menu, a masterpiece of flavors and creativity. While every course was amazing, the crudo stood out with its fresh and vibrant flavors. Five Sails delivers a dining experience like no other. If you re looking for exceptional food and impeccable service with a touch of culinary magic, this is the place to go. A huge thank-you to Ramon, Jason, and the entire team for making my birthday so special!
Everything was fantastic. The food was excellent and the staff was very attentive. Our server Martina was amazing
We came here for tea over the weekend to celebrate my girlfriend s birthday. We had the best time! Such a great experience with a lovely atmosphere and staff. Our server Jesse was wonderful! Can t wait to come back.
atmospheric place, service at the highest level, very friendly staff, I received positive emotions, for which thank you very much
I visited on my honeymoon in late September. The food, service, and atmosphere exceeded my expectations. Also, the sommelier and server who were in charge of the meal were very kind and charming, and we had a great time. There was a big surprise, and I was so moved that I cried a lot! Thank you for the best dinner!
Such a great evening! Our waiter was very passionate and friendly. He was also very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and had a good idea of what pairs well together. Food and drinks were definitely worth the pretty penny.
great place, food was amazing, and staff are friendly and helpful, for sure a comeback soon
Great view of Vancouver Harbour and Mountains. The food is excellent.
Jesse provided excellent service and a great experience. Highly recommend for an amazing afternoon tea service. We will definitely be back.
Jesse was great! Entertaining and professional. We had a wonderful experience, highly recommended for afternoon tea!
Martina is an excellent waitress. Chef Kevin made exquisite dishes to perfection. The pear flambé was superb. Thank you to the Five Sails for making my Bday memorable. It s our first time in Vancouver & we would love to come back again.
An Unforgettable Luxury Dining Experience! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. The tasting menu was nothing short of spectacular! Each dish was thoughtfully curated, bursting with unique flavors, and presented with the artistry one would expect from a world-class restaurant. The wine pairing was also an incredible choice each selection perfectly complemented the dishes and enhanced the overall experience. My server, William, truly elevated the evening to a whole new level. His professionalism, knowledge of the menu, and genuine passion for creating a memorable experience made me feel incredibly special. It was clear that every detail was meticulously planned to provide an exceptional dining experience. The tasting menu, paired with those exquisite wines, was absolutely worth every penny each bite and sip a masterpiece! I left feeling that I had enjoyed one of the best meals of my life. This restaurant is, without a doubt, one of the finest establishments I ve ever dined at. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a luxurious, unforgettable culinary adventure! Wray
It was the best 67th Birthday experience ever. Our host William was excellent . The lobster and seabass was as succulent as they come. Flavors popping on the palette. Hats off to the chefs. We were seated where we had the best view of the waterfront. Thanks again to our host William, he made my dining experience absolutely perfect
Everything was amazing!!! We celebrated my sis in laws bday with the Alice in Wonderland high tea so good!!!! Service, food, drinks and atmosphere was awesome. I can t wait to comeback. 10/10 would highly recommend to all my friends and fam. Thank you for a superb experience.
Excellent service, food and ambiance!
Really liked this restaurant. The experience was 5 star. From the moment we entered the service was friendly& attentive. The food was attractive& delicious. The ambience was cozy& comfortable & of course we were treated with a beautiful view of sparkling lights& water. We will return.
As soon as we arrived the staffs were very welcoming and personable. Very good service, they attended to all our needs without being overbearing. It was a wonderful experience throughout the whole evening. We had the 6 courses tasting menu, we loved the attention to every details. Best restaurant experience we ve ever had. Highly recommend.
Top notch service, high quality food and amazing vibe! We had a wonderful night here! Martina went above and beyond, taking care of us from the moment we enter the restaurant, we would definitely come again should there be a chance :)
We ve got a great dinner there, the food was pretty good with lots of attention to details. Excellent service from all staff, but our waitress Martina went above and beyond to make the evening memorable! The famous honey cake totally lived up to its expectations!
Had our anniversary here! It was so incredible. Highly recommend the apple dessert. Our server Jane was so sweet and attentive. Was a really great place to celebrate.
Thanksgiving 5-course menu exceeded our expectations. The extra dessert for our special event, a heavenly white chocolate apple, was divine. Beautiful view of the bay.
Food was very good. Lobster was a bit under cook but the accompanying shrimp was excellent! Our server Martina was fantastic! Atmosphere was nice but being that it was an anniversary dinner I was disappointed that our table was placed near a structural column blocking my view but not for my wife, so as long as she was happy it made the special event very memorable. Parking: Walked from our hotel General rule in Vancouver is a CHALLENGE!
Amazing lunch. Jesse was very knowledgeable, fun and personable. Thank you for an incredible afternoon.
Jesse was great
Jesse s kitchen : where even your pet isn t safe.
Jesse was awesome! The view was so pretty even though it was raining, and the food was fantastic! Would recommend!
Jesse was lovely!! Very warm & positive energy, attentive & quick service :-)
Jesse was one of the best servers I have ever had! Great last name too! Dietary restrictions: Very cautious and attentive to dietary restrictions! Food : 4/5 |
I loved their afternoon themed tea! It was the Versailles theme and our server Jesse was great! Super personable and knowledgeable about the food! Was also so amusing that he bonded with my significant other over having the same last name. Will come back for their Christmas themed afternoon tea!
Jesse was amazing
Amazing food, service and view of the harbour!
Love Five Sails! Jesse provided a memorable high tea service for a birthday treat.
Martina was our head server and the service was superlative. The multi course fixed menu had good choices and the food was amazing. Highly recommend for special celebrations.
Came to enjoy the views. Unfortunately the weather didn t cooperate. Nice restaurant. Great service. Staff is very attentive. Food was interesting. It was my first time having French cuisine outside of France and I thought it was good. If I ever come back to Vancouver I d want to check this restaurant out during the day time so I can enjoy the views. Staff made our dinner special. We were dressed down but you could dress up for this restaurant. Oysters were very fresh and delicious!
If I could give Service more than five stars I absolutely would! My husband and I enjoyed Five Sails as a spur of the moment decision over the Thanksgiving weekend. We were looking for a low key place to have a great glass of wine with terrific views. It did not disappoint! In fact, after we enjoyed our wine and an appetizer we had other dinner plans, but came back to close out our evening with a nightcap and dessert. The banana flambé is not to be missed! I wish I had taken pictures of it. We were guests at the Pan Pacific, but even if we stay elsewhere, we will make time to return to Five Sails and enjoy whatever they have to offer. Without question the most attention to detail I have personally experienced. Bravo. Special recognition for our amazing Sommelier, Kei; our wonderful server, Martina; and Jason, who welcomed us and provided the most amazing dessert experience table side! He is passionate about flambé, and made it a real experience. Kei was very helpful and educational with selecting a regional wine. We had many wonderful moments over the weekend, but our visit to Five Sails really stood out. Thank you again to the wonderful team that we had the pleasure to meet.
Food was very delicious. Its plating was also done very well. Would reccomend. Romantic place to eat with a great view of the ocean.
Five Sails restaurant is my favourite restaurant. The romantic environment and million dollar view is elegant and classy. The refreshing and magical food should be rated with a Michelin star. Dishes are beautifully displayed, with amazing taste. Chef Kevin is very talented. The professional and warm service makes you feel at home. If you need an unforgettable fine dining memory, Five Sails will mark the special day in your memory. My friends really appreciate the experience . The landmark of Vancouver. Ling Chu
What a delightful lunch experience, and yes, it s a total experience that includes gorgeous views, delicious food and superb service. From the moment we were greeted by the hostess it was clear they strive for excellence and wonderful service. Our waiter knew the menu very well and gave great recommendations. I ordered the halibut which was excellent and my wife loved her chicken dish. We ended the meal with a dessert that was presented in a whimsical way, and tastes as delicious as it looked. An absolute wonderful dining experience and we would highly recommend.
Outstanding dining experience with great service by Jesse.
10 stars!! What a wonderful place. The service is impeccable, the food delicious, and presented with such attention to detail. The views of Vancouver harbor were beautiful. The staff was wonderful and allowed to enjoy our time together, and even had a few laughs with us. If you are in Vancouver, do not miss going to this restaurant. It is inside the the Pan Pacific Hotel on the R level of the hotel.
Great food service and atmosphere view was wonderful!!!
Whenever I ve come to Vancouver, I ve stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel and dined at their Five Sails restaurant on the final evening of my stay. This year was no exception but this time I was accompanied by my sister-in-law (SIL). I brought a bottle of wine with me, a 2015 Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou from St. Julien that I purchased aboard the Koningsdam two days earlier. Five Sails has a $65 corkage fee if they don t have that wine in their cellar. This is one of my favorite wines and the sommelier was very gracious and opened it with flair and panache. We chose seared foie gras ($34) and burrata ($26) as our appetizers and the duck three ways ($56) and the halibut ($49) as our entrees. Crispy fingerlings were our accompaniment. The wine did not disappoint; it is one of my favorite wines from St. Julien, so smooth and seductive, smoky, black fruit with a great finish. My SIL was impressed with the wine; she thought it was fabulous. If I see foie gras on the menu, I order it. It was fine and came with a large milk bread roll and decorated with pieces of apricot. The burrata was a beautiful presentation of cheese surrounded by sungold tomatoes, strawberries and decorated with basil and pickled pistachio with a Modena balsamic. It was one of the best versions of this dish in memory. The Haida Gwaii halibut was herb crusted with a citrus dashi foam hiding roasted mushrooms and a tea butter fondue. The star of the evening was my Fraser Valley Duck, a seared duck breast, a confit leg and a large piece of foie gras. I can never have too much foie gras. The sauce was an orange Madeira jus. SIL saw fingerling potatoes and had to order it. This was like a poutine as crispy pieces of fingerling potatoes were topped with caramelized onion, Tete de Moine cheese and some pieces of braised short rib. It was a very good accompaniment. We were too full for dessert, so I ended the meal with an Americano ($7). Five Sails did not disappoint; I ve been coming here since 2003, and it remains consistently good. Good views, good food Recommended!
What a fun way to spend the afternoon. I m looking forward to other tea themes. Dietary restrictions: We had the tea and they made great substitutions for the non seafood eater in our party. They were very accommodating. Parking: Easy parking in the building.
We went at a quiet time but still appreciated not being rushed. Great place to go to enjoy the view and food.
Excellent
We had high tea at Five Sails to celebrate two friends birthdays. The view there is one of the best in Vancouver. The service, food and ambience is wonderful. We enjoyed everything very much. I especially liked the truffle tarts, bread and chocolate dessert. Would recommend and definitely will be back!
Always consistently excellent food and service, even after 30+ years of birthdays, valentines days, and anniversary dinners! Our favourite 5 star restaurant!
Such a fun experience with their Alice in Wonderland high tea event. I never thought of coming here but this high tea was the best in the downtown area, better than Winnie the Pooh and Cherry blossom high tea events. They tried to make it a great experience! The drink even changes colour and you can buy more unique drinks if you dont mind spending more money. I love the view and atmosphere fully decorated! Its really worth the price compared to the other expensive high teas out there, everything tasted good.
Wonderful lunch today! Tasting menu was both beautifully presented and delicious. Gorgeous views despite the clouds. Service was superb. Highly recommend that you treat yourself at this beautiful restaurant. Absolutely money well spent.
Five Sails at the Pan Pacific is a great place for High Tea or anything else. The views are spectacular as well, so is the outstanding service.
Excellent food and service all around. The views are spectacular. A must dine at when in Vancouver. Highly recommend the lobster!
The service, food quality and atmosphere are outstanding. The restaurant is elegant without being stuffy and the view is intoxicating. Cocktails are a cut above most anywhere we have been. We enjoyed it so much we went back multiple times!
An elevated dining experience. The appetizer was light and creamy. Excellent local dishes. The halibut and accompanying sauce were just right.
Execution of Alice and Wonderland theme very entertaining. Amd of course, service was fantastic. Thank you Jesse!
Our experience at Five Sails was nothing short of extraordinary, a fitting celebration for my 40th birthday that felt truly special thanks to the team s remarkable attention to detail. This is a restaurant that delivers on all fronts: breathtaking views, impeccable service, and dishes that are meticulously crafted with precision and care. It s clear from the moment you arrive that the staff s pursuit of excellence is paramount, reminiscent of the high standards youd expect from Michelin-starred establishments. The menu strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and sophistication. Each dish is thoughtfully curated, allowing diners to navigate with ease, and should any indecision arise, the knowledgeable servers are there to guide you with confidence and finesse. The wine selection is equally commendable, and the staff s pairing recommendations elevate the dining experience to another level. For starters, we chose the Bisque, Oysters, and Hamachi all of which were impeccably fresh, beautifully composed, and bursting with flavor. For our mains, we indulged in the Seabass and Halibut, both executed with masterful precision. Despite usually skipping dessert, we were delighted by the restaurant s thoughtful gesture of two delicate puff pastries, accompanied by a warm birthday wish an unexpected but deeply appreciated touch. Though I regret not recalling the name of our server, I can t overstate the exceptional level of service we received, ensuring our evening was seamless and memorable. While the pricing is certainly on the higher end, it s justified by the quality of the experience. We left with every intention of returning on our next visit to Vancouver.
This was our first time dining at 5 Sails. The host sat us right next to the gorgeous water view and even got us a little stool for my purse. The food, cocktails, and service were excellent. We had the sea bass and halibut and both were cooked extremely well, not dry at all. Ambiance was great. Jesse was very attentive and fast and liked our taste in music (I believed him)! Thanks for the wonderful pre-concert meal. We would definitely return again.
A western restaurant with a very good location. The whole bay can be seen. While tasting the delicious food, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the take-off and landing of the seaplane .
Memorable experience from start to finish, all aspects were top notch. Culinary excellence paired with excellent wines. Definitely a repeat to savor another time. The entire team shined in their skill level and customer care. Our 44th Wedding Anniversary celebration will be remembered as truly special. We enjoyed the Chefs Tasting Menu with carefully chosen Wine Pairings. Absolutely the best way to dine.
Jesse did a great job making our first time here very enjoyable. He had a great sense of humor and made the food and drink all the more memorable.
We celebrated my wife s 50th in the smaller private dining room. Food was exquisite and the service immaculate - we had a fabulous evening.
Very pleasant dinner. Quebec duck foie gras, delicious fish, starred service, splendid view of the port and Gross Mountain. The only minor criticism is that better signage would make it easier to get there. Worth at least a Michelin star... JP Martenot
Experience was amazing thank you to Jesse for the great service!
Very fun service. Jesse took good care of us on our Alice and Wonderland journey.
Very enjoyable experience Jesse was wonderful taking us along our wonderland journey
William is a gem. Great service, attentive but never intrusive. Nice sense of humor and lovely table side manner.
Repeating customer here. Our 3rd time visiting and everything is still The Best. Thank you so much for granting my request for my friend s bday. You guys really delivered. I really appreciated it .My friend said it was the best afternoon tea she s had. It was magical. My friend was happy with everything. From the food , to the service. The Host greeted us warmly , food was so good and fresh , presentation was , servers were very professional. They really worked as a team. They never failed to check back on us . To the host who seated us, everyone who served us, to the skilled chef who prepared our food with love and care , thank you so much. I Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food in a quiet and very pleasant atmosphere. Very attentive service.
One of the finest experiences we have had in a very long time. Martina, our server, was delightful, the food was superb and the atmosphere was marvelous. It was an outstanding place to celebrate my wife s birthday before we boarded our cruise ship!
One of the best meals of our trip to BC! Food was excellent, views were spectacular and service was maybe the best we have had. Special thanks to Martina our server for coordinating everything so well and to our flambe specialist, what a treat!
An awesome dine-out experience. I had HAIDA GWAI HALIBUT, and its citrus taste with mushrooms were exceptional. And I paired it with Cerise. A must recommend. Excellent service, Had a great view of Stanley in front, amidst the ocean.
The food is fabulous the staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable, our server William was great! And the views are of course absolutely stunning. The price is appropriate for the quality. We loved it and we will be back!
What are Gclubs? Human circle, social circle, wisdom circle, city circle 2023.8.3 A historic moment! On this day, the Hpay life circle officially left Toronto. The first stop was at the Five Sails Hotel in Vancouver, where more than a dozen Gclubs members gathered offline for the first time. Looking back now, I am still so excited about a series of legendary figures and stories. The comrades who have been accompanying Hpay s life circle here have found their courage, self-confidence, wisdom, and confidence. The concept of Seven Gatherings in Hpay s life circle has begun to sprout...
Great dinner for two. Outstanding food wine and service. Highly recommended . The fixed menu was great value and for the quality of experience was reasonably priced. Interesting local wines and friendly service complemented the innovative and tasty food. The view is gorgeous. Food
Delicious food, and great view. William was fantastic and very amicable. Kudos
Top view, best service guys, top food. More than five stars
Every dish was amazing. So good that we couldnt pick one as the best. My mouth is watering just thinking about the them. The view is great especially if you secure a table by the windows. The staff are also very nice and diligent
Tatiana was very helpful and I admire the customer service. The restaurant view is spectacular! The food and service quality is not consistent. We ve dined in 3 times so far, every time was a different experience from excellent to disappointing! Which is typical in today s restaurant industry in general. But overall I highly recommend this place. Vegetarian options: Limited to 2 choices only Parking: Very expensive parking if you want to park in Canada Place, but across the street there is a very cheap public parking.
Celebrated my 75th birthday. The view is spectacular, the ambience is outstanding, and the staff is very professional. My wife and I had lobster, our daughter had halibut, and our son in law had the lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection, and tasted exceptional. The way the food is placed on the plates is like a work of art. We ordered a New York style cheesecake for dessert a week before our dinner reservation...best cheesecake we have ever had. Our special after dinner treat, made by the manager, was the cafe diablo. Thank you Five Sails for making this an exceptional evening. We highly recommend the Five Sails Restaurant for any special occasion.
A little disappointed by the experience. The cuisine did not have the expected wow effect. If the place is very beautiful, the cuisine lacks subtlety. Seafood spaghetti, with overcooked and flavorless fish, shrimp and scallops (can be microwaved). No worries about the quantities but it lacks the minute cooking effect by a chef. Impeccable and pleasant service. We are far from rave comments.
I would like to give a shout out to our server Yin We dined there for lunch on July 28 24th It was past the lunch hour and into the tea service I really wanted the steak tartare which was not on the tea service menu and Yin made it happen Thank you again for the extra effort you made And thank you, Chef, for the delicious steak tartare, yellowtail, and tuna The view is outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, afternoon, tea, or dinner.
Five Sails is excellent!! The ambience, service & food is exquisite!! We highly recommend Five Sails!! The food & wine is delicious, beautifully prepared & presented!
The View, Service and Ambience were all amazing! Our date night was made even better dining at this restaurant, thank you to everyone who made our experience truly memorable! Special recognition to Vin our incredible waiter! Food
My brother recently got married and we threw a high tea bridal shower for his wife. The entire experience was phenomenal! We were accommodated with a private part of the restaurant with and amazing view of the harbour and the high tea menu was so tasty! We all loved it all the food and the entire experience. Martina was our server for the afternoon and she DELIVERED. She was very kind, efficient and and friendly. She greeted all of us with a warm tone and and she made this experience more memorable for us by joining in our excitement and adding that extra bit of fun!
Five Sails in Vancouver is a culinary gem that stands out not just for its breathtaking views but also for its exquisite cuisine and unparalleled service. Under the expert guidance of Chef Alex Kim, the restaurant offers a dining experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. Upon entering Five Sails, you are immediately greeted by the sophisticated and elegant ambiance. The large windows offer panoramic views of the bustling harbor, majestic mountains, and vibrant cityscape, making it the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The décor is refined yet inviting, creating a serene atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. The menu at Five Sails is a testament to Chef Alex Kims culinary prowess. Each dish is meticulously crafted, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors and artistic presentation. The seafood, a highlight of the menu, is incredibly fresh and prepared with precision. Standout dishes include the tender lobster, succulent scallops, and the perfectly seared pacific sea bass . My absolute favorite was the polenta. Crisp on the outside - buttery on the outside. The meat options, such as the lamb ; duck and beef looked equally impressive as it passed us on its way to other diners . Our server, Martina, was exceptional. Her knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impressive, and her warm, attentive service made us feel truly special. She anticipated our needs with grace and ensured that every aspect of our meal was perfect. The entire staff at Five Sails deserves commendation for their professionalism and dedication to providing a top-notch dining experience. They work seamlessly as a team to deliver a wonderful experience . In addition to the delicious food and impeccable service, the views from Five Sails are simply stunning. Watching the sunset over the water while enjoying a gourmet meal is an experience that stays with you long after the evening ends. In conclusion, Five Sails Restaurant offers an extraordinary dining experience in Vancouver. With Chef Alex Kims culinary artistry, Martinas exemplary service, and the breathtaking views, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a superlative meal in a beautiful setting.
This was our first time at Five Sails. What an amazing restaurant. Michael provided impeccable service. Sarahs knowledge of wine and her selections made the perfect evening even more special. The view is only outdone by the food, wine and service which compare to that of any city weve traveled in. We are already looking to returning to Vancouver as it is a wonderful city that has so much to offer including top culinary/wine offerings; led by Five Sails (and a sister restaurant Italian Kitchen (thank you Brad and Giorgio). Thank you all for such a marvelous time. Bill & Julie
Great place. Fine gourmet cuisine
We travel (and eat) around the World and this was one of our best experiences.
Our waiter Michael was amazing . He gave really good recommendations . The lamb and duck was really tasteful
Had the Alice in wonderland high tea which was lovely. The brioche was just wonderful, alas the sweets arent as gold as the savouries. The limited edition cocktail which is a modified gin and tonic was also nice. Our server (Jesse) was very nice and the presentation was great. We really couldnt finish all the food though. Wish it was a bit more savouries focused.
Jesse was a wonderful server and very knowledgeable. Room was a little warm
Jesse was an amazing and kind server. Brought a smile and kind energy to our table each time he came by and was very engaging and knowledgeable.
Jesse was excellent! He was very engaging, very knowledgeable, and we felt extremely taken care of. Highly recommend!
Friendly, gracious service, including imparting VAN recommendations for places to dine and attractions to experience. Wonderful! Dietary restrictions: Food restriction accommodating
Very accommodating and friendly staff about our vegetarian dietary needs. Thank you Jesse for servicing our table!
Thanks Jesse, a special experience thanks to you
Great experience! Thank you Jesse for being so helpful and attentive!
Restaurant had great service with an amazing and friendly manager; the food was a little lacking though for its price as the lobster tails were extremely chewy.
Outstanding service, amazing view and delicious food. I highly recommend it
We had a meal here on our last evening in Vancouver, and to celebrate my wifes birthday. We have been to many very good restaurants around the world and we thought this establishment was just brilliant. Excellent food, attentive and relaxed service (Michael was brilliant). We had a lovely evening, with really nothing to fault here.
Jason, Ken & Martina all went above and beyond. Best experience dining ever!!!
Lovely venue and nice staff. Hard to get their attention. The portions were small for the price - they did make up for it with a birthday surprise plate.
First of all, our friends were in awe of the view. We requested the eastern round table by the window and it was spectacular. We hosted an appreciation dinner of 10 people so we had the prefix menu, which everyone was completely happy with the options and enjoyed everything that was served. The service was amazing, so polite and so attentive but never over the top. If something wasn t just right they aimed to make it better. We also loved that it was never too noisy to have conversations. The ambience was perfect for catching up with our friends. We had a wonderful time! Dietary restrictions: They were very good about any allergies.
For starters, I am a romantic writer by profession, so you ll notice this in my description. As an old-school patron of restaurants, I find that Five Sails delivers a dining experience that elegantly marries tradition with contemporary flair. This restaurant stands out not only for its breathtaking views of the harbor and mountains but also for its impeccable adherence to traditional dining practices. From the moment you step into Five Sails, it s clear that attention to detail is paramount. The staff exudes professionalism, with each member demonstrating a refined understanding of classic service etiquette. This includes the artful presentation of dishes, precise table settings, and the seamless execution of service protocols. Their ability to maintain a poised demeanor while engaging warmly with patrons speaks to their comprehensive training and respect for time-honored restaurant customs. In contrast, many dining establishments today struggle with lapses in these traditional practices. For example, most restaurant managers may not know what a Menu sans prix means, but they do at Five Sails. I believe many restaurants stopped offering this service in the 1980s. However, if you follow proper dining etiquette, you ll see that offering this type of service is stellar for creating a memorable dining event for your guests. A common issue in less meticulously managed restaurants is the inconsistency in server training. Inadequate training often results in a lack of basic service skills such as incorrect placement of utensils, improper handling of wine service, and insufficient knowledge of menu items. For instance, the general rule is to serve from a guests left using their left hand. I noticed that all servers at Five Sails adhered to this practice. Furthermore, engagement with customers can be hit-or-miss; some servers may come across as inattentive or disinterested, undermining the overall dining experience. Five Sails, however, excels in this area. I requested European service (as opposed to continental service), and they delivered it flawlessly. The food at Five Sails is stellar. Despite a recent change in head chef, the quality of the dishes was not compromised. This was my wedding dinner, and with a party of ten, everyone loved their meals. The menus even had our names printed for the occasion, which was a pleasant surprise. Lucy, the manager, ensured that every detail was attended to, while Michael, our server, and his team provided excellent service. Michael s cheese presentation was particularly noteworthy, educating us on various cheeses and making superb recommendations. This level of cheese service provided by Five Sails, akin to French standards, is rare in Vancouver. Overall, Five Sails exemplifies how honoring traditional high-end restaurant practices can elevate the dining experience. Its commitment to excellence in service and attention to detail make it a standout destination for those seeking both exceptional cuisine and exemplary service.
Having not dined at Five Sails in more than 15 years, a return visit was a treat: excellent atmosphere and views, well paced and attentive service (Martina especially) and of course, first class food
Oh my goodness! The food was fantastic, and the view was breathtaking. The only problem was that the restrooms were located outside of the restaurant. While my friend was washing her hands, she took off her LV ring and didnt realize that a homeless person was in the restroom with her. The homeless person took the ring and ran out of the womens restroom. We tried to get the ring back, but the homeless person started yelling. We called security, but they said we had to call the non-emergency number. Sadly, we were unable to retrieve the LOUIS VUITTON ring.
We really enjoyed our afternoon tea here and our server Jesse was super awesome and made it a perfect experience!!
very good Many thanks to the staff for their hard work
Melina was amazing. The view is so perfect and they made it a birthday to remember.
Had my birthday celebrated here. Our server Michael was very attentive and provided phenomenal service along with the delicious food. Highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasions.
I love 5 sails. Ive been there many times and never disappointed Great service, delicious food, and amazing view. Food
Came to Vancouver for a little mini getaway before our wedding and had the pleasure of being served by Jesse. He truly made the experience incredible. Initially we thought we were incredibly out of place dining at such a beautiful establishment, but he made us feel so welcome. I think he has a great knack of reading his guests. On top of the great service the food was immaculate, We are now home and I can say our dinner at Five Sails was not only the best meal of the weekend but the best service by far ! He even brought out us a dessert that said congratulations because he knew our wedding was coming up, it was delicious ! Thank you Jesse & the five sails team.
We went for the Alice in wonderland themed afternoon tea. The service and overall atmosphere was great. The hostess was very warm and friendly (didn t catch her name) and our server Jesse was wonderful, he was very knowledgeable of the menu items and provided really great service. We were celebrating my mom s birthday and both the hostess and Jesse wished her a happy birthday and brought her a dessert. The food was beautifully made, although the sweets were much better than the savoury items.
Had a wonderful weekday afternoon tea. Food was the perfect taste and portion. It s very hard to find the traditional afternoon tea with amazing twists on the sweet portion of the tea.Tasty and creative. The view will blow your mind! Our server is a seasoned professional with his European charm. My Aunt is more a coffee drinker which they happily accommodated her tastes. She said it took 45 years to find the perfect cup of strong but not bitter coffee. Nothing has changed as it is still the Five Sails dining experience as they kept some of the original staff members but with sone new faces who were just as friendly. We will be back! Thank you for an afternoon to remember and all the special personal touches.
Amazing food! good workers amazing manager good chef recommend going amazing place!!!!!!!!
Good views
Had one of the most amazing nights celebrating my anniversary with my girlfriend here. The food was top notch, views were beautiful, and service was spectacular! Jesse was our server for the evening and he was wonderful with his recommendations. Also just have to say their in-house baked bread is one of the best things we have ever had We had such a great time and will hope to come back again!
Excellent service Jesse was really helpful and kind definitely recommend going here!
Jesse, our server, was incredible!! So helpful, friendly and funny.
Our waiter Jesse was the best!! His service was amazing.
Excellent restaurant! Westcoast-French mix cuisine. Attentive service. Good selection of wines. Magnificent view of the port. To recommend without reservation. You
Our experience at Five Sails was truly exceptional from start to finish! Despite running late for our reservation, the staff showed understanding and accommodation, setting the tone for a wonderful evening. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and seated at the best table by the window, offering breathtaking views of the waterfront and mountains. The location, ambiance, table setup, and cutlery all exuded 5-star quality. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable servers who made our evening even more special. But the pièce de résistance was the food absolutely delicious! We savored the Fraser Valley Duck and Artichoke entrées, followed by the trio of sorbets, each one a masterclass in flavor and texture. Highly recommended! Five Sails is the perfect spot for a special occasion or romantic dinner. We would definitely return and cant wait to indulge in their culinary delights again. If youre looking for a top-notch dining experience, look no further than Five Sails!
It was an unforgettable experience!! I would say, Five Sails is the best restaurant in Vancouver, especially the location and atmosphere. You should go for your special occasions! Thank you for all your assistance, Jesse:)
The Missus and her two sisters along with a niece had a very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon tea at the Five Sails Restaurant. The setting had amazing scenic views and the ambiance was perfect. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was also delicious albeit the Missus found it a bit rich compared to other afternoon teas. However, this may be only a personal preference but all had a delightful afternoon.
Fantastic view, impeccable service and inspired tea service menu. Wonderful touch to being a beautiful honey cake for our belated birthday celebration.
Outstanding food, view and service.
Five star by name Five star by nature huge shout out to Five Sails Vancouver and staff, especially Emily, (M), outstanding brunch and High Tea that was served was outstanding . Arriving from Brilliance of the Seas Sunday straight to Five Sales
The service was superb. We were satisfied with the service, food, and atmosphere.
Amazing experience and 5 star service. They were sure to make it a 5 star experience. Thanks!
Great restaurant, extremely good service and atmosphere, really good food and of course the best view.
Great views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains. Five Sails is a high end restaurant and therefore pricey. The service and amount of staff that waits upon your table is awesome; friendly and well trained. The food portions are on the light side unless you order sides, etc. Most of the dishes were flavourful and well presented/plated. Aside from the scenic views, the interior of the restaurant is nice but seems to lack some real warmth for some reason (maybe because the tables are spread out, its intentional lower capacity, and the space is quite open with a wall of window). 3.75 stars overall. #FineDiningVancouver #waterfront
We had an amazing evening at the restaurant. We went to celebrate my husband s birthday. It was our first time there and we really loved it. Food, service, atmosphere exceeded our expectations. Thanks Jesse for being attentive and super nice to us. And thanks for my husband s restaurant s birthday compliment! Highly recommend!
Somewhat hidden gem with a view that goes on for days. Chef Alex is charming and he leads his team to create equally charming dishes. Flavourful, beautiful. Service is attentive. Desserts by Pastry Chef Daria are works of art. Masterpieces, really. What a team. I was here for lunch, midweek. Excellent $38 3-course set menu with some selection - super affordable considering the calibre of this culinary team. 5 stars in my books
A beautiful restaurant, wonderful views. I was served by William, who was attentive, but not too attentive. An overall wonderful experience
Amazing experience if you visiting Vancouver.
We had a beautiful High Tea and the presentation was phenomenal and every detail was spectacular. So many different elevated flavours and subtle touches. A special Thanks to Jesse our waiter who was so friendly and patient with our elderly mother. Thank You!!! Dietary restrictions: My sister was able to have a custom gluten free High Tea!
Everything was perfect and Michael, our server, was excellent. Highly recommend Five Sails Restaurant for an upscale dining experience and the stellar view!
The menu and food was excellent. William our server had great suggestions and made us feel at home. I recommend the bisque and the wagyu beef has to be one of the best.
Michael was most excellent
Food is delicious. Service is good. Spectacular view. Not many people the night we were there but this place certainly deserves more customers. Food : 5/5
Excellent food. Great view. I come every so often and I am always reassured of the quality of food and service.
I had come to Five Sails to celebrate my birthday, and had the best experience from the moment I walked in. The staff are super friendly, attentive and have a great sense of humor. The food is pricey but its delicious, and the view from the restaurant is well worth it! My friends and I enjoyed our time here.
Delightful experience and dinner at Fove Sails! The food, presentation, and atmosphere were wonderful. Our server, Jesse, was so sweet and made sure we had a great dining experience!
Compliments to the bartender who made me 2 amazing cocktails : the Globe and the one with the edible garden. Wheelchair accessibility: Though with wheelchair, they are able to give us a window seat with great view.
I am still thinking about the dinner I had the last time I was there. It was absolutely perfect
The views! The food! But I believe the most important to mention is the service. Everyone was beyond pleasant throughout our service. Jesse especially made sure that our meal was special. He took the time and care to create a beautiful memory for our vacation thank you Jesse!! Also, Kei took such pride in our wine presentation. We decanted, we chilled, as he shared his knowledge with us.
Great view, delicious food and excellent service! Our server, Gayetano, was amazing! Couldn t ask for a better experience.
My wife and I had the most delightful lunch at Five Sails! The ambiance was cozy, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was wonderfully prepared. The highlight of our visit was the surprise dessert. It had a lovely message congratulating us on our special date, which made our day even more memorable. Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture! We left with happy hearts and full bellies. Highly recommend this gem for any special occasion!
Beautiful restaurant with excellent service and food
First class restaurant with first class service and first class atmosphere. Gaetano, Elia, Rita and Lucy are first class as well Food
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent experience with the restaurants booking process. Having heard great reviews from the internet, I was eagerly looking forward to enjoying a meal at your restaurant. However, I was taken aback when I received a call from your customer service team asking to confirm any allergies I might have. This was the first time I have encountered such a request so early in the booking process. It was conveyed that if I did not provide this information, my reservation would be put on hold. I find this policy to be quite unreasonable. Information regarding allergies is a personal matter and should remain private unless voluntarily shared by the customer. Typically, such details are addressed upon arrival at the restaurant when reviewing the menu and placing an order. The insistence on knowing this information before I even set foot in your restaurant feels invasive and inappropriate. If your restaurant operates without a menu, this could be somewhat understandable. However, given that you do have a menu, requiring customers to disclose allergy information in advance and threatening to put reservations on hold if they do not comply is quite perplexing and offensive. Overall, I am very disappointed with how this matter was handled and feel that the approach is quite unusual and intrusive. I sincerely hope you reconsider this policy for the comfort and privacy of your future patrons. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
took my family there to celebrate my daughters birthday, and have to say very disappointing experience (maybe I had high hopes). It has changed a lot since the last time I visited, which was before covid. service was warm+cool depending on who came to our table. server took away our bread plate when we asked for another round of bread and never brought anything back so the 5 of us used one set of plate until our dishes arrived. we ordered 4 main for 3 adults+2kids, and the seafood spaghetti looked worse than what you can get from a foodcourt. it doesnt taste bad, but the presentation was pretty cheap. no one bothered to come by and said anything to my daughter even though I already mentioned to the server that we were there to celebrate her day (4th bday). tuna steak was subpar. restaurant wasnt busy, and had some large groups of ppl there for business lunch. wont go again.
My fav restaurant in Vancouver for now. The seafood mains are fantastic but desserts are the best. Much thanks to Emily and Sean and the super good staff who are professional and bring the most comfortable dining experience all the time.
Was here for a work event. Macarons were delicious as were the drinks. A little disappointed in the hor doeuvres that were circulated. I only tried one (arancini) and the flavour was lacking. The other offerings didnt look appetizing (everything looked like it was puréed or squeeze out of a tube) and people with me who did try them werent impressed. The room was really nice though, with panoramic views of the inlet. A shame there was no AC or doors that opened as it was a hot day outside which meant the room got progressively warmer as more people came in.
the five sails restaurant is one of the best restaurants in vancouver. for guests from abroad or from other parts of canada, the five sails restaurant is a worthwhile experience thanks to the fantastic view of the burrard inlet and north vancouver. but of course the food and drinks are also excellent, and as a guest you can tell that they are made with fresh and local ingredients. the plates are very carefully prepared, each plate with each meal is a work of art in itself. the menus are wonderful and a culinary experience. last but not least, the competent and friendly service staff is also impressive. a dinner at the five sails restaurant is such a convincing and wonderful experience that i will certainly return several times, even after two visits.
Such an amazing experience at Five Sails today! We ordered their lunch prix menu and duck confit. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh, and the service was top-notch. Our server, Gaetano, was very attentive, professional and made excellent wine recommendation for us. The ambiance and looking over Canada Place view is spectacular!! Highly recommend for any special day
Took my wife here for our 30th Anniversary. Not even the slightest regret! We got the 6 courses Canada day celebration menu and each dish was the best Ive had. Top notch food and service!
Simply perfect from start to finish and in every way: the dishes were delicious, the service perfect and the view magical. The à la carte choice allows you to enjoy all this while choosing your budget.
Had a wonderful birthday and anniversary celebration at Five Sails. The restaurant has the perfect view of the harbour, Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge. Oftentimes when you dine at a restaurant with a stellar view, the food can be compromised as people would want the view - but this was absolutely not the case with Five Sails. The food exceeded my expectations. I appreciated the amuse bouche and delicious bread with whipped butter. We ordered the risotto to share as an appetizer and had the chateaubriand. Everything we ate was executed perfectly and was beautifully plated. I love old school steakhouses and loved that the chateaubriand was carved table side and served with a beautiful selection of salts. The cocktails (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were delicious and very unique. I appreciated the creativity of the cocktails. The desserts were also delicious and works of art. And last, but certainly not least - the service. I have dined at several fine dining establishments and found the service here to be pleasant, friendly, and above all - professional. You could absolutely tell that every individual we came across was very knowledgeable about all the dishes served, and so incredibly helpful. Thank you to Jesse and the entire team at Five Sails for making my birthday and anniversary dinner such a memorable and wonderful occasion.
Rarely does fine dining live up to the high standards of gastronomy, but five sails delivers on both. Depth of flavour, a broad array of influences and technical skills, and superb service. A job well done by all staff! Honourable mentions must go to our server Martina who guided our journey with some excellent drink recommendations and Daria, who crafted the most inspired honey cake, highly recommended. Thank you!
Service was great, friendly and attentive, food was delish, view was beautiful, fine dining with a comfortable atmosphere! I ve come here for the afternoon tea which was well executed, and we tried the dinner tasting menu for my dad s birthday. Would return for sure!
Very good food and very nice views of the harbor.
The service is very good .. go and you have perfect timing Tried salmon was tasty Vegetarian options: Fresh vegetables dishes and salad
Wish that I could give it 10 stars. If you can only choose one fine dine restaurant in beautiful Vancouver , it has to be five sails that you won t regret it. We have been there afternoon tea and several dinners, also recommended my overseas friend to there. We all agreed the food is delicious sea food is fresh and quality , view is unbeatable, and service is extraordinary amazing, , I honestly feel they have the best Service among Vancouver fine dine ! Fred is a great manager and also entire team is awesome. I wish I could go there every week if I can:)
Absolutely impeccable! Fantastic view, great food and service. We had high expectations and they didnt let us down. Highlight of our trip to Vancouver food wise. From Desert menu honey cake is a must try!
Update: Just wondering why I never had an acknowledgment or response to my review? My husband and I went there for dinner last night to celebrate my birthday. The view was outstanding! Service was very good. The food hit and miss. First there are no vegetarian main dishes only two on the appetizers. I ordered the king salmon and foie gras, a different combination but just didn t impress me, the best item was the cucumber ice and it melted very quickly as it really is a very small dollop. My husband had the vegetable tart a big miss from the plain veggies to the soggy pastry wrap. I had the lamb for my main. The lamb was excellent but the accompaniments failed! Also order the Yukon gold ( mashed potatoes) came as a soup!!! I felt that there was too much going on and not enough attention to the basics of fine dining.Sorry but clearly a let down for what I expected to be a memorable dinner!
Great experience! This restaurant has it all together. Great serving staff, fantastic dishes and a terrific view.
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary afternoon tea experience. The food and service were excellent and the waterfront view was enchanting. Thank you, Gaetano for taking such good care of us and we are looking forward to dining with you and the Five Sails staff again soon!
An amazing experience! This place is a MUST if you enjoy French cuisine. I wouldn t change a single thing about our experience. Michael was a fantastic server.
The best restaurant experience ever. Treated like Royalty. Jesse our waiter over exceeded our expectations. Amazing views and the food presentation was beautiful. Chateaubriand was made to perfection.
Beautiful views, creative and delicious food and creative cocktails. The customer service was more than 5 stars. Our server Vinny was attentive and explained each dish to us, also he suggested the type of drink pairings with the dishes. The GM Jason was warm and welcoming to us. And, the views of the harbor with the Lions Gate Bridge and mountains enhanced our dining experience. If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, this is a beautiful place for it.
