Once again in this amazing restaurant!!! Miss Maliá great service!!! DELICIOUS!!

Enjoyed dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Halibut and pisco sour were fine, sushi pizza was tasty, but wow--the sablefish. I would come back for that dish alone, loved every component of it, incredible flavours and a buttery texture. Definitely one of the best, if not the best sablefish dish Ive had. The Peruvian donuts were a nice way to finish off the meal. Service was very attentive, and a big shoutout to our server Odeta who made sure we were well taken care of on our special night!

Don t come hungry! Food is good but not worth the $$$$!

food was great!! i had all vegetarian options, the cauliflower steak was unique but really yummy, the quinotto was a perfect blend with it, and the sushi rolls were good too. piccarones tasted like churro balls with little nuts and bits on the side. genuinely enjoyed the food, i felt so happy eating it.

Just a wonderful dining experience. The food and view both were great, but the service was even better. Both of our waiters were highly professional, but also appropriately friendly and engaging. We had the oysters, which were good if small, the risotto, which was excellent, and the sushi and rolls, which were the standouts of the meal. Excellent wine list by the bottle and a good selection by the glass. Interesting cocktails as well, as well as a good selection of sake.

The food was very good in general. A few dishes were fantastic, but I was surprised that the sushi rolls, although priced like they are the best of the best, were just fine. Our server was phenomenal and the setting was great. I would happily go back.

Dont go here this restaurant is sending out girls online to get guys in and make them spend and the food is not even good as its usually empty and even then the staff is obnoxiously rude and lack all the customer service they r very inconsiderate and really desperate just want to catfish guys to spend their money

the food was mediocre at best. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like lime juice. What struck me most was that I was over charged for the food that I ate and I did not realize this until I got home. Afterwards, I spoke to a couple of people who also frequented this place and it happened to them too. This leads me to believe that they are deliberately scamming people with the hopes that they would not look at the bill.

If you are Peruvian or looking for Peruvian food. Just don t go there.

Simply put, Ancora may be the finest restaurant in Vancouver, certainly in our experience. Our three course meal was sublime with the presentation and flavor of each dish exquisite. Unhurried and perfect service rounded out the experience. Don t miss the desserts.

Excellent food and good location

This restaurants location is unbeatable - stunning! Overpriced for what the food is, both ordered aperol spritz it came with about 20 floating dead ants in it - that was noticed after I had drank out of it. When server took it back she said sorry they like the sweetness not sure what ants are doing behind the bar. No offer to comp the drink or anything. I wont be back even though the location was beautiful

Had dinner with my friends at Ancora, where they had a DJ and offered complimentary canapés. The setup, service, and view were all excellent. Overall, its a fantastic restaurant in a great location. James and Nick were great hosts and our servers Odeta and Malia were fantastic all night!

The best place for Nikkei cuisine in Canada. I always enjoy going here. The Atlantic lobster roll and acevichado roll are my usuals but really can t go wrong with anything. The picarones are also one of the only ones I ve seen in Canada that use the real sweet potato flour (there s a distinct difference in taste/texture). If you love restaurants like La Mar or Nobu in US you ll definitely love Ancora Will definitely make a few more trips this summer

Solid 5 Stars, Ancora couldnt have been better if they tried. Patio dining right on the waterfront with a view of the marina and Granville Island was a lovely atmosphere. Service was amazing. Server was fast and friendly and very accommodating for vegan preferences. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and I was impressed at the vegetarian selections, including the dedicated vegetarian menu section. Our group shared the Vegetarian Rolls, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower Steak, and Picarones (Peruvian donuts) for dessert. Delicious. Thank you Ancora Waterfront for an amazing experience from start to finish. Vegetarian options: Great selection of vegetarian options and they are happy to recommend vegan alternatives.

We were turned away at the door last night. The circumstances were as follows: My husband and I were out for an after dinner stroll and happened upon Ancora. Feeling in the mood for a drink, we approached the host stand. A manager-type fellow greeted us and asked here for dinner? to which we replied that no, we were just looking for a drink. The manager explained to us that they are a food primary (liquor licence) establishment, and that they had several fines pending from a recent visit by the liquor inspector, due to this they would not be able to serve us drinks only. I asked if it would be acceptable for us to have a dessert with our drinks to satisfy the need to have food, and he said no. It was clear we werent going to get a table, so we left. Heres the catch: my husband and I both worked in the food service industry for a number of years in both high-end dining and wineries, and there is no such requirement in food primary establishments that guests must have food with their drinks. This was a lie. If the goal was to fill the table with customers that were going to spend more money than us, the manager could have simply said they are fully booked with reservations. I dont appreciate having the wool pulled over my eyes in this manner, it was quite disrespectful.

Ancora Waterfront Dining in Vancouver offers a delightful dining experience with stunning views and a diverse menu. My recent visit included the fish and chips, which were decent, though not exceptional. The fish was well-cooked and the batter crisp, but it lacked a bit of seasoning to make it truly memorable. However, the Czar salad was a standout fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a delicious dressing and crisp croutons. The ambiance and service were top-notch, making it a great spot for a relaxing meal by the water. Overall, Ancora is worth a visit, especially for the salad and the scenic views.

We went there for our family dinner. It was a sunny hot day and there was no AC. Our table had some sun directly onto some seats so wasnt entirely nice. But most importantly, the service was quite horrible. There was initial bread which we quite liked and asked if we could get more. The server said she will ask the kitchen but never told us if it is possible or not and pretty much ignored the request until we asked again, saying there isnt enough. The apple juice was 4/5 cup full of ice with essentially no juice in it as well. Then, my husbands sablefish got forgotten at the kitchen. We had to ask and essentially canceled it as we were already midway through our meals. They said sorry and that was it. Not friendly, not professional. Visited here a few times before but probably wont go again.

My mom comes from Victoria to visit for dinner just to eat the sablefish, then she leaves and goes back to Victoria. My partner also loves it! Wish there were more vegetarian options, but the veggie roll is great :) Food

The service was SO bad . I hosted a dinner party of 8 here on the night of May 6th at 6:30pm. The servers never came once to check up on us. The whole time I was stressed, trying to get their attention so that my guests needs can be fulfilled. One guest found little grains of sand in his water. We showed the server and he said with a blank stare: I see . And walked off. After the dinner I joked with a guest that the service was bad. My guest replied: service? What service? Haha.

Nice, but a bit overpriced

Nice restaurant They offer Peruvian and Japanese cuisine Like muted menu Delicious food. Their ceviche recipe is awesome I advise you to try. A little expensive 50-60 $ per person. Location is very strategic and you can reach easily via boats or Uber / Taxis. Better to reserve the table via phone. There are outdoor and indoor tables.

Menu was seemingly written to be purposefully pretentious and hard to understand... Item descriptions were weirdly verbose as it felt like a marketing gimmick to inflate perceived prestige.... I ordered mostly at random as was already sitting down and didnt want to annoy the waiter too much with explaining what things were... The food was all well made, tasty and the deserts were my favorite. The brussels sprouts however, were very oversalted and could not eat them... I wish there were more heartier options like lobster tail, crab and whatnot. As the more liquidy/carby options arent so much to my taste.... The staff were pleasant and the waiter was good.

ANCORA (Downtown) Japanese / Peruvian Fusion! I cant believe its taken me this long to try this place out! And WOW, amazing patio! Overlooks Granville Island, perfect waterfront dining! Inside, theres tons of natural light! Would definitely come here again and again. Ok in order of preference, this is what we got: PERUVIAN PORK BELLY SANDWICH $21 pork belly, roasted yam, salsa criolla, with Yucas Bravas (+$5). OMG it was amazing! Small portion... But extremely tasty! A MUST-HAVE!!!! KUSSHI OYSTERS $4.50each Ok so yes you can get these oysters at other restaurants, but the special sauce and horseradish they made was INCREDIBLE. Definitely better than places... I would highly recommend! PRAWN SOLTERITO SALAD $22 kataifi fried prawn, hannah brooke farm salad, mandarine vinaigrette, potato, cipollini, edamame, cherry tomato, queso fresco. So Im not a huge salad fan, but this was pretty tasty! The dressing wasnt heavy at all, very light, but tasty! Alisa liked this much more than me... MUSHROOM SOUP $17 mixed mushrooms, sautéed chantarelles, queso fresco, crème fraÎche. This was a very flavourful soup! The only disappointing factor was that we were hoping to get actual pieces of mushroom in here. If they had some, this would have been perfect!

We thought the food here was fantastic. Best food we ve had in years, honestly. Crab tacos, beef stir fry, sushi and lobster rolls it was all very flavorful. And the crème brûlée was brilliant.

Service is good. The host is amazing for guiding us into the parking garage and letting us out after the meal. - Ceviche sampler is very good. - The chicharrón roll appears to be just a thin layer of possibly pork skin and drenched in miso/teriyaki sauce seared on top. Not sure about their definition of chicharrón but none of us could tell what it was. - arroz con pato: generous portion of tasteless and slightly overcooked duck breast. The rice and sides are very flavourful. - sablefish: good taste but bok choy was raw. - halibut cheek: weird spongey texture and entirely tasteless. The scallop is really good.

Food and service was amazing. We got the hot starter octopus, sablefish and lobster risotto. Every dish was full of flavor.

Adorable restaurant! The service was amazing, our servers were very communicative and kind. Unfortunately the food was not upto mark, we chose to try their $80 for 2 tasting menu - for appetizers and it was a little unfortunate- firstly to make it clear, this tasting is more like a tasting of finger foods than a meal - The sashimi was perfect , super fresh and flavorful and melt in your mouth The Dungeness crab was also pretty good However the rest of the platter was not as great as expected, it had a very fishy smell and flavor ( usually don t smell this with fresh seafood) so it was a little unfortunate However , the glass of white wine and the picarones were exquisite The picarones were literally one of the best desserts I ve tried in a while, they were so warm and soft, melt in your mouth- definitely made the trip worth it- our servers were also kind enough to give it complimentary after our complaint on the fishy smell. Great ambiance for a cute date

We dined here over winter break, so it probably wasnt as busy as summer might be, but we had a premium experience. The food was unbelievable, and the service was top notch. I had the sablefish, and my family had the halibut and tenderloin. All of them were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The only hiccup was not having a true ACA compliant restroom, but we found a workable alternative. Will definitely dine here every time I visit. Parking: No dedicated parking available, only street parking Wheelchair accessibility: This place is not wheelchair accessible and bathrooms are only available via stairs

Visited Ancora for lunch as a part of Dine out Vancouver festival. All the food were great and the service was wonderful too. Absolutely recommend this place

Food was delicious, service quick and very friendly, and the atmosphere was very chic. We went for NYE and there was a set menu. Quite pricey considering some of the portions were comically small, and the automatic gratuity for 2 people was unexpectedly large as well. Had a wonderful time, but Vancouver has lots of restaurants with the same quality plus more quantity.

I took my parents out for my moms birthday dinner. We managed to make a reservation the morning of since other restaurants were already fully booked. Upon arriving, the host couldnt find my reservation so another hostess came by and instantly found our reservation. We ordered the Grilled Octopus to start, then both my parents ordered the Short Ribs, and I ordered the Scallops & Lobster. The Grilled Octopus was the best dish of the night, but the Short Ribs were alright, but the worst dish was the Scallops & Lobster. For $46, I expected more than 2 scallops and there was very little lobster in the dish. I left still feeling hungry. All the dishes were served luke-warm at best and the plates were cold to the touch. Overall, the service was good, but the food is mediocre and overpriced - therefore, I probably wont be coming back.

Although we were sat immediately, we had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to attend to us. And that only happened because I (very politely) asked a server walking by to help us. They were not understaffed, there were 3 different servers who walked by us 3+ times each and we were ignored. Tables next to us felt similarly (we could hear them complain). For the price and the upscale nature this restaurant, the service was bad enough that I will never return. Update: After reaching out to Kelly below I basically never heard back. I wish I could give this less stars.

We had a friend who loves food come in from out of town craving seafood and it was a Monday night (so maybe not the A team for context). We had come here previously (pre-covid) and had found the food really creatively unique and good, if a bit expensive, but our last experience was still really good so we decided to come here. The food was still good; the rolls were tidy and well balanced with sauces, nigiri super fresh, mains were really solid conceptually, and desserts were creative. The dining room is still the same beautiful place it was before. However, the service really did ruin the whole experience (not something I usually complain about). We asked the waiter for some recommendations on both food and drink and it was clear he didnt know, choosing only the most expensive options the menu had. My friend and I were craving some sake and asked what would pair with the items we ordered, he pointed at the two most expensive options once again without explaining why. This prompted us to choose another option which turned out to be simply a $50 yuzu/sake cooler which we did not even get a chance to look at as he opened the bottle and poured it out before we had a chance to send it back. My friend who works in the alcohol industry did not finish her drink, and the next time he came by he just dumped the rest of the bottle into our glasses, nearly filling it up to the top. Cutlery was one step above being thrown onto the table, and despite the dining room being nearly empty he pressured us to order at every turn, telling us multiple times to pre-order our mains as it would take the kitchen 30 mins for the mains to come out. After we ordered the mains, we decided to order a couple of nigiris to bridge the time gap but couldnt get the attention of the waiter and after we finally ordered the nigiris (from the bus boy) the mains came out right after (after <20mins). I love the concept of this place; unique combinations of Peruvian and Japanese food in a really beautiful setting. Yes the price is high (our bill for 3 people with that one Japanese cooler, 3 mains, 4 shared appies, 4 nigiris, and two desserts came out to almost $400), but with that I expect some service to go with that. I understand that the waiter may be new, but for that price I expect better communication from him. Never once did he ask how things were going, or how the food was. At this price, we will not be back.

This is the first time I was asked for my drinks by a waitress with a sweeping bloom and dust pan in their hand.. what a great and unique experience. Lovely. Needless to say there is only one person serving the whole place, I was almost inclined to order the foods at the counter myself. Oh and guess what, I was told 5 minutes after my order that they are out of prime ribs at 7:45 pm with 3 tables inside the whole place. But I gotta say, food are on point.

Dine out menu was not that good. Complimentary bread was cold and very hard to chew. Only dish that we felt OK was the duck breast main. Others were below average. Also the waiting time between courses are so long.

Went for the dine out lunch menu, had the mushroom soup, which was flavourful but a little salty, sushi, which was ok, and sponge cake with fruits in condensed milk, which was delicious. Nice dining environment with water view, would probably be better on a sunny day.

Very disappointing to arrive there and: 1. Set menu only - Valentine s Day for the whole week leading to the date 2. Exorbitantly expensive $195 per person 3. No explanation, minimal customer service 4. No information of the set menu on the website 5. Beverage not available Won t go back. Several other places that can provide a much better overall experience.

Today I went to celebrate valentine s dinner, however I was really excited to try the menu, it was my first time in the restaurant, unfortunately the experience was TERRIBLE, I ve been in many restaurants around the world and I never felt so disappointed like tonight, since I came I informed the server (from Philippines) I m vegetarian and He was like annoyed due my request, anyway I tried to ignored it and enjoy the rest of the night, I was looking forward to try the menu, the avocado mousse ( it was basically boiled egg and guacamole), ceviche (a few mushrooms with vinaigrette and onion) , quinoa salad (basically steam quinoa with lime juice) and the dessert (if you want to eat pure sugar, go ahead). the service was really poor and nobody even care to ask how was the food or even explained the menu, everybody was like they don t care, they were just throwing the food at the table. my husband order the regular menu as I said before, nothing special or unique and the risotto was undercook and the beef was like you were eating a piece of shoe with lime, . I don t care spend $400.00 but at list I was expecting something unique, basically the server took more than 20 min to bring the receipt without even caring to ask about the experience (same guy from Philippines) basically He just charge me $406 and ask for my credit card, he charge 20% tips without even asking if I wanted to adjust it, I didn t want to cause any scandal I just pay and left. Service POOR and food really disappointing. I wish I could try to give a second chance but with this kind of experience NEVER AGAIN Vegetarian options: Nothing special..

First time at Ancora and definitely will go back. The food and ambiance were wonderful. Loved the Scallop and Lime Shooter, the Grilled Octopus, Shared the Sable fish and the Lobster and Shrimp Risotto which were so delicious and beautifully presented. Thanks to Michael, the Sommelier and Alexandra, our server for making our dining experience so enjoyable.

I d give it 6 stars if I could. This restaurant delivers in every way. The servers are pleasant humans and I can feel their consideration and genuine smiles. The meals are spectacular and beyond any words I can express here. I d highly recommend the Ancora glacier, hamachi carpaccio, grilled octopus & sable fish. And the sorbet Chicha Morada! All of it; oh My goodness! Thank you Ancora.

Lovely Peruvian/ Japanese restaurant. Service was excellent, and so was the food.

Best mussels (on the seafood pasta) I ve ever had. They genuinely melt in your mouth. The risotto is delicious as well. Perfect balance between the richness of the dish and the tang from the lemon zests Portion sizes are perfect, flavours outstanding and ingredients were most definitely fresh and high quality. Cocktails were unique and refreshing as well. Cannot wait to visit again when we re back in Vancouver!

Ancora is absolutely fantastic. Was here with my sister and enjoyed delicious drinks, sashimi, sushi, risotto, and their in-house ice cream. Every time I am in Vancouver I make a point to have dinner and a lunch here. The service is fantastic as well, the best, truly. I am surprised that they are not fully booked all the time, when I dine here it seems rather empty. I love it!

Good lobster risotto sable fish was great but portions are small.

I went yesterday with my family for a lunch time. I ordered two paellas, two risottos and ceviche. The food was excellent and I would like to order more. However it was so hard to get the extra order and after wait for so long for the waiter to come back and take my order. I decided to ask for the bill. The waiter again took so long to bring the bill. What I can say about this place. The service was terrible (the only person provide a great service was the asian guy that was not our waiter, he came and asked if I would like more tostadas for my ceviche. ) My recommendation is to review with your staff how to provide a better service for your customers to meet the standards of this type of restaurant.

Our server was friendly but she was struggling as she was the only server which was serving for about 6 tables.. Place was pretty empty and half of our order took about 30 minutes to arrive. The other half about another 20 minutes. Oysters (premium) were not great and arrive with very little horse reddish and a sub par vinaigrette from what we are a custom too, they had tobacco sauce to add 2.5/5. Seafood salsa ( ceviche style ) was very nice. 5/5 (although only comes with 3 chips) had to order extra chips for $5. Lobster bisque was way too watered down and no lobster peices inside. 2/5 It was the last day for the cherry tea. 5/5 it was really nice. Fish and chips Halibut was average and okay 3.5/5. Lobster and shrimp risotto was also okay 3.5/5. Single scallop was pretty good 4/5.

The service was polite but slopping. They mixed up bottles of wine, didnt remember orders, and needed to learn how to split bills. I am not one to stack up plates, but the server left smelling fish water on our table for an hour, and it was just unpleasant. The food is below average seafood. Everything smelled too fishy for it to be fresh. Sushi rolls on the happy hour are 14 dollars for the same lacklustre roll you would get for eight at any generic sushi place downtown and the portions were so small. Not a terrible experience, not great.

Great food, perfect service, nice view. Loved their steak - the 2 sauces came on the side so you can choose if/which sauce you wanted. I loved the chimchurri but the sesame was good too.

A good place to go of youre looking for Japanese -Peruvian fusion cuisine. The drinks were delicious, and the Picarones are a must. The lucuma ice cream was excellent. Food

Came here for Mother s Day. The restaurant wasn t so busy, but food took super long to get to us and was really underwhelming. I had three fish and chips which was not really good. It came with this yellow sauce that was really bad. I also tried their burger which was very salty and underwhelming. I don t really know how you mess up a burger. My wife had the seafood pasta and couldn t finish it. Overall, really unimpressed by this restaurant and will not come back.

Went for the mothers day special. Both options of main dishes were too salty. The chicken was dry and the trout was overcooked. We were unable to finish the dishes. The amuse bouche, salmon on crispy rice with caviar, was bland and the rice was stale. The service was nice and the view was great.

Great location, the service however, not amazing, very inexperienced servers and management. The food was tasty but the portions were extremely small. We had oysters, a sushi roll and a $46 main each and were still fairly hungry when we left!!! Absolutely no value!!!

Best Vancouver experience ever! Stunning dinner with a glass of wine by the waterfront watching the sun go down. I was just by myself and so well looked after, thank you very much indeed!

Let me start off by saying that we were visiting from Toronto and we thought Vancouver would be very similar but boy or boy we were wrong. I thought the hospitality would be the same, but it was far from that. They were racist even the manager they don t smile they don t really welcome you much, they take forever to bring your stuff over to you and just the overall feeling of feeling racism. We noticed the other tables that had white people were being waited on properly, and being welcomed and and interactive with the waitresses. Whenever they came over to our table, they were so cold. To be honest, even the food prices were not worth for the portions that were received. If I could give this place a zero*I would. Don t go here if you are of coloured! Not worth the feeling.

Warning: seafood will make you sick! The oysters were not fresh and made us both sick.. the cocktails were terrible (the caesar was the only drinkable item after ordering several). Years and years ago, they had a great chef but he left. Years ago, they had good management so the food and drinks were still good. They moved on and so went the quality. Weve come back several times hoping this place will get it together but it hasnt and its gotten worse recently.

Ancora (False Creek) has wonderful customer service! The servers were all very kind, and eager to help when we had an issue. The food was not the best. One of our dishes was very salty (but we were very grateful that our servers were quick to help get us a replacement dish - thank you!), the yellow sauce served with the yuca fries was not very flavourful, and the portions were quite small for the quality of the food served / the price we paid. The pulled pork sandwiches were the best dish that we tried. Perhaps the dinner menu may be better (we ate lunch there). Overall, the food did not meet expectations but the service was excellent

Walked up to the False Creek location to find out they are having a private event- no problem. Specifically asked the hostess about the Ambleside location. The hostess mentions they are busy because they have been sending patrons there because False Creek is closed. Specifically asked, Ambleside is not having a private function as well, right? No. Ask if they can call and reserve a spot for us. Was told no because they must be very busy because they aren t answering their phone. Uber over to Ambleside to find they are also closed for a private event! Nothing on their socials they were closed for a private event or message on the phone.

Food was incredible and the restaurant had great ambiance. The staff were slightly unwelcoming when we had a reservation first thing in the morning and they weren t quite ready to let us in. If you want flavours of the peruvian cuisine, this can potentially hit that craving.

Overall food is tasty. Ancora glacier is worth to try, sashimi and oyster is so so, but the fried corn is interesting. For the main we ordered sablefish and risotto. The flavour of quinoa is too much , you can eat probably two spoons in a consecutive way, but not three, otherwise it is too salty although the fish itself is pretty good. I am expecting the LARGE risotto to be a little bit more, as I cannot imaging how SMALL it is if I order small, lol. Rice is a little bit hard, reminders me the old days I cannot do cooking, but probably it is just a preference. For desert, the cheesecake is so so. Not really worth to try. Something I really don t like: the floor is pretty dirty, especially the stairs to the washroom, and you cannot avoid it unless you don t use the washroom. BTW, a beautiful view is a plus, and probably 1/3 of the price goes to the view.

Location and service is great. Food not so much. The sushi roll was straight from save on foods or from a sushi restaurant down the road. Something you d pay no more than $5 for, however they were charging $14. The salad was good I will admit. However the sushi roll situation threw me off completely. Everything else is excellent, choices of wine are great.

An extremely pleasant experience from start to finish. The food, service and ambiance was top notch. Our table must have eaten at least 6 or 7 dishes and everything was absolutely delicious. For dessert, I literally had a little cup of their hummus - its that good! Cheers to the server for doing that after hearing my jokes.

Horrible service and an even worse environment! Before arriving I informed the front desk there would be a third person joining our reservation. The hostess said that would be ok and assured me it would not cause any problems. Upon arriving the host was not aware of the third person in my party. We were sat at a table in the corner, away from everyone. The table seemed like an afterthought, as the concrete was all uneven. The table we had was so tiny even 2 people would not have fit comfortable at it. To top it all off we could not see a thing because the sun was directly in our faces. Everyone else had umbrella, but our table did not. The host moved us inside after we complained. When we were moved inside they sat us at a table in the corner again. I went to use the bathroom and while I was waiting someone informed me there was no toilet paper, soap or paper towel. The lady said it had been like this for a while. I went down to tell a staff member, they said someone would come fill it. I waited over 20 minutes for someone to come. When I went inside the bathroom the floor was completely sticky. It s gross that a restaurant would be out of all three things. What else are they not keeping up to date?! We ordered the sushi pizza to start. It was the most underwhelming appetizer. The sushi pizza looked better than it tasted. The rice crust was a strange taste. After having bad service, food, table, and bathroom experience we decided to leave and go eat somewhere else. I would not recommend this place, save your time and go somewhere else.

Overpriced. Measly portions. And average service. An empty patio, but we had the server come up to our table 7 times in a span of 30 minutes to check-in on us (right?), eventually we left. Definitely not returning.

The view was really pretty but that was about it for me. I ordered the scallop and lobster dish and it tasted fine but the portion was disappointing especially for the price. Also got a martini that was flavourless and way too strong, no one at my table liked it or really loved their food either. Also the restaurant knew it was my birthday and the kind waitress wished me a hbd but they didn t give me a complimentary dessert while the other restaurants I ve been to that week did. Probably wouldn t come back

The food was very average, over priced and portions are small. So small that we thought it was an appetizers!

I took my wife here for our anniversary. Service was fantastic and they brought us complimentary bubbles on arrival. The bread and humous amuse was perfect too. A classy establishment by the water!

I was here last year for a friends birthday celebration and it was awesome. This year was quite different with regards to service. My dining companions wanted Budweiser beer and Chivas scotch. The waitress wrote down the order but came back saying they didnt carry either. Shouldnt she have known? Then a male server came to our table and said (with respect to the Chivas), why would you want that when we have these other excellent selections. The tone of voice he used felt a little insulting, so my companions ended up only drinking water. The food is still amazing, but the risotto portion seems small for $45 a plate.I will probably avoid this restaurant in future. . Sorry...

One of my favourite Vancouver restaurants for location, patio, unique menu choices, and relaxed ambiance. Have celebrated several birthdays and enjoyed other random summer nights dining outdoors. Quite enjoyed my meal and the people watching from the seawall adjacent patio seating. Service is excellent, food is excellent, and overall a positive experience. Always enjoyed soft shelled crab (no longer on menu), octopus, sushi, ceviches, short ribs. I d return again and always recommend!

Had our anniversary dinner here. Beautiful setting. Amazing patio on false creek with no car traffic to hear. Just boats and paddlers going by. Food is excellent and unique fusion. Cocktails are delicious.

I had an incredible dining experience at Ancora! The service was top-notch, thanks to the amazing team of Sephora, James, and Phillipe. They made sure every detail was perfect. And let me tell you about the acevichado roll - it was absolutely amazing! The flavors were delightful, and it left me craving for more. Easily a 5-star restaurant that I highly recommend!

I have passed this place several times on the way to/from work or while on a run. Today was the perfect day to sip on some wine & have some soup/seafood. Unfortunately I didn t get to. I arrived and was seated by lovely hosts. However, after 15 minutes I still hadn t been acknowledged (verbal or non-verbally ie. Eye contact and a smile) by my server. I know a lot goes on for servers, but being from the industry with an F&B background, I couldn t understand why they didn t make time to say I ll be right with you . They went to every table around me and it felt like they pointedly avoided me I don t like leave terrible ratings hence giving 3 rather than a 1 or 2 star. But I think refreshing the team during service stand up would be a great way to remind the team that a little bit of acknowledgement goes a long way! I would have happily waited 20-25 minutes if the server had at least communicated with me! Ended up walking to Hoshi Japanese Cuisine and had amazing Oshi sushi & tempura!

*Go to Ancora Ambleside instead!!*We usually go to Ancora Ambleside but we thought wed try out the mid-day menu at Ancora False Creek. We were one of 3 tables there, and there looked to be a full set of staff working, yet the service was very slow, the staff did not know the menu well, they didnt know how to make simple cocktail like an aperol spritz, and the sushi was average. We spent $145 on 2 sushi rolls, one cone and 12 oysters, and one cocktail. Not worth it. Unless you like paying $$$ for sub average service and food.

My husband & I went for dinner last night. Both ordered aperol spritz which was very bland, small & only had a hint of Prosecco ($18/glass even at today s prices is ridiculous)! The acevicado roll was not fresh - looked & tasted like it was made a couple days prior. Highlight is patio, ambiance & servers which are all excellent. Now please work on the food as we live in the area but don t have the incentive to visit on a regular basis.

Dining at the Ancora Waterfront, with its breathtaking patio view of False Creek, was an experience that nearly reached perfection. The ambiance was enchanting, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming. Our feast began with the Ancora Glacier, an exquisite platter of seafood on ice. Freshly shucked oysters were like a kiss from the ocean, and the ceviche mixto brought vibrant flavors dancing on our taste buds. The poached prawns, sashimi selection, tuna tartare, dungeness crab causas, and mussels a la chalaca were artfully presented, each bite a symphony of taste and texture. Every morsel was fresh and flavorful, a testament to the chefs skill and the restaurants dedication to quality. However, our evening was not without its minor disappointments. On this particular night, the service was notably slower, lacking the attentive and delightful care we had come to expect from previous visits to Ancora. Though it didnt ruin the evening, it did cast a slight shadow over an otherwise splendid dining experience. In conclusion, the Ancora Waterfront continues to offer an extraordinary culinary journey, especially for seafood lovers. The magnificent view and incredible food are reasons enough to return, with the hope that the service will regain its usual charm on our next visit.

Stopped by at 10 to 5 to have a beer on the patio (we were walking along the seawall) as it said Happy Hour until 5. We were told Sorry, its over. Last call was 5 minutes ago. Guess we will never know what your place is like. But, your competitor thanked us for your business.

Very nice place to dine in. Patio Atmosphere is beautiful. Food amid fresh and delicious. Our server Josh was amazing and very knowledgeable in regards food and drinks. I recommend this restaurant. The minus it would be that at happy hour they don t have available other menu like lunch I would like to try more dishes

We went specifically for the dog-friendly patio!! Dog friendly patios are hard to come by in Vancouver. 100% awesome. We sat at a sweet little sofa in a special section of the patio & had brilliant service & food that was spectacular!! Our table had not 1, but 3 sushi pizzas over the nite! Vegetarian options: Delicious & interesting

Come here for a sophisticated dining experience Ancora West Van is one of my favourite restaurants, and my girlfriends surprised me with a dinner for my bachelorette last night at this location - my first time here. The service was exceptional, and the team went above and beyond to make this a special night with prosecco, dessert and sweets for us Thank you to the staff serving our table yesterday! Highly recommend: The sablefish with quinoa. I order this everywhere I go, and can honestly say theyve nailed this dish. A must try Will definitely be back

Lovely spot we got the seafood platter for two which was very nice and felt affordable at $80. We were dressed casually after traveling and walking around the city and felt at first the staff perhaps didn t really want us there. We ordered and paid very quickly and the dining experience turned around and became quite lovely. Left feeling satisfied by the food and our service was great after the initial hiccup. Think what I m saying is it s a bit fancy but don t be intimidated the food was really nice and so were the views.

dined in during happy hour and I informed our server on my sesame allergy (highly allergic) and we ordered the seafood tower, It came out and there was sesame on two of the items,there was no apology, there was nothing taken care of and it was apparent the server didn t even tell the kitchen I had the allergy. If I had eaten it (because it was mixed in the fish and I trusted the server had done her job) I would of needed to go to emergency or to use my epipen. No apologies, nothing was done for our bill and a different server took our food, dropped our food off, billed us and took our payment (I believe we were served by 4 diff people) I have worked in the industry for over 15 years and allergies need to be taken seriously they need to train their staff on this for the future because this could have been a very different situation. For the location and prices and I expected way better service or even a manager to come talk to us. On top of that a wrote in an email to further it to management so they can better train their staff on allergy protocols and I never received a response. DO NOT GO HERE

Ancora offers delectable fresh sushi. During my visit, I indulged in two rolls along with a delightful bottle of wine.

Well, I can t rate this restaurant, because we were only seated on the patio, then no one ever came back, after 30mins we left and went somewhere else. Very unfortunate, it is a beautiful location. Apparently a quiet Sunday isn t a good the time to go here.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to get down to the sea wall its not right at Ancora, but just a little way to the west. Then its easy to get to the patio or in the door. Food

Beautiful spot by the water and overlooking Granville Island. Light and airy restaurant, good for a business/romantic/group setting. We went at lunchtime and it wasn t too busy, which was good as we had some confidential work conversations. Food was good. I had the lobster and shrimp risotto which was quite small and hardly any lobster/shrimp, but tasted pretty good. Service was friendly and attentive. There s some nice seating outside which has a better view, but it was a little bit too cold so we sat inside. Overall, I d recommend this place.

What a great meal here tonight. The food was outstanding and the service was flawless. I have no idea why it isn t full to the rafters! Oh and the price was very reasonable. Can t wait to return.

Just wow. Food was spectacular. Every item had its on kick, and was amazing. Service was great, gave us space, filled water often, brought food at perfect timing. Beef tartar - 10/10 - by far the best Octopus - 9/10 Lobster roll - 10/10

This was our second time visiting Ancora, 3-years apart and Im sad to say the quality of food and service significantly declined since a few years back. I used to recommend Ancora to people visiting Vancouver but they dropped off the list unfortunately. The cocktails werent great. Service was nothing close to whats expected of a fine dining restaurant and the food was mediocre compared to the price. Its sad to say but unless things change, I wont be back.

Fantastic Seafood and desserts. Incredible patio and superb wine list and wines by the glass. The sommelier really has dozens of the worlds finest Pinot Noirs.

Excellent ambience, location and food is phenomenal. I would highly recommend R&D Rose wine and risotto.

Very beautiful views and good food

The tuna roll was so fishy. The oysters too, I had a hard time to eliminate the fishy aftertaste off my mouth. I wanted to try something else but it was early. The reason I went there was for the Peruvian fusion but it was like 20% of the menu. Good location, good atmosphere but not tasty, at least not what Ive ordered.

There were several mice running across the restaurant during our dinner. It was not the sanitary environment we d expected from a high end restaurant. We alerted the server to the mouse issue and they did apologize and comp our dessert. We were also told they have pest control on site every week but it s clearly not working. We saw six mice during our meal. We hope they manage to resolve their rodent infestation issue but we will not be returning.

Cute restaurant along the water. We ordered the vegetarian cerviche, croquettes, and s as a main I ordered the scallop and lobster. Server was attentive and it has a nice atmosphere.

Went here for a company party. The lingcod and quinoa salad were fantastic! Full of flavour and beautiful presentation. Tenderloin was okay. Tuna tartare was also delicious. Sour cocktails were good. Service was attentive and friendly. Would come back here for a special occasion. Seafood dishes are great, whereas the beef dishes are a miss.
