About

Michelin-recommended Maenam is located in the heart of Kitsilano on bustling West 4th Avenue. From traditional family-style dining to riffs on Thai street food, Chef Angus An’s menu balances intense fresh flavours with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced products. Maenam’s vibrant Thai dishes are served alongside an inspired cocktail card, informed beer list, and an extensive selection of wines served by the glass or bottle. In April 2023, we have decided to focus exclusively on offering our multi-course Chef’s menu for dinner. We currently offer reservations for the enjoyment of our lunch sets and multi-course Chef’s Menu for dinner. Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come-first-served basis for the a la carte menu.

Had a lovely lunch here today! The $45 per person lunch includes a choice of starter, salad, and main course. Dining as a group of four, we shared a variety of dishes, and overall, everything was delicious. My personal favorites were the Massaman curry and the Crispy Duck salad, both were outstanding!

We did the tasting menu and really enjoyed it! For $88/person, it’s a lot of food. We did order the pad Thai too, but found we really didn’t need it. Our favourites included the crispy duck salad, pork stir fry, the small bites at the beginning, and dessert. Service was very attentive and kind. Highly recommend trying Maenam out!

Edit: Maenam has kindly reached out and made up for the mistake. I appreciate Lee’s proactive response by offering a meal to compensate for the situation. Maenam clearly takes pride in their food and service and I’d recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. —- Although the food and ambiance were good, the service was sorely lacking during my Saturday evening visit. The meal started well, with the appetizers arriving promptly. However, the experience quickly deteriorated as we endured a long wait for our main course, which turned out to be the wrong order - we had ordered spiced ling cod but were served spiced spare ribs instead. We were catching a movie after so we didn’t want to wait any longer for the entree to be remade. The server only acknowledged the mistake at the end of the meal, as we were paying, without offering to rectify the error. I’d think that spare ribs are a cheaper protein that ling cod. I’m disappointed with the lack of oversight here

MAENAM (Vancouver) Went there for lunch, sooooo good! $45/person, plus we added a $26 Pad Thai. Everything was super flavourful, would highly recommend! My favourite items in order: ♥ Grilled Thai Sausage & Crispy Rice Salad House made grilled pork sausage, curried crispy rice, fresh coriander, fried shallots, young lemongrass, young ginger, nahm jim. Soooo good! A bit spicy, but very flavourful! ♥ Beef Pad Kra Pao Beef sirloin cap, chili garlic, baby corn, holy basil. It was great! Beef was tender, not chewy. Veggies were crisp. Sauce was excellent. ♥ Pad Thai $26 Fresh rice noodles, tamarind, peanuts, tofu, chives, bean sprouts, egg, sustainable prawns . Very good pad thai! ♥ Green Curry with Pacific Halibut Aromatic green curry, makrut lime leaf, baby corn, thai apple eggplant, thai basil. It was pretty good, but not the most amazing Green Curry I've ever had. ♥ Grilled Pork Jowl Salad Grilled marinated pork jowl, young lemongrass, fresh thai herb, toasted chilli and tamarind. The Thai restaurant in whistler creekside had a better one. This one was still pretty good though!

One of the best meals I have every had. Everything was bursting with flavor. My husband and I had the chefs tasting menu and you can tell all the effort that went into every bite. We traveled from FL to Vancouver and after Pailin with Hot Thai Kitchen posted about this place I knew we had to go. Do not miss out on this wonderful experience. If you love Thai food like I do you will love this place.

Did not have reservations for 5 of us on a weekday but the 45 minutes wait was reasonable. From the start, the service was exception. Very friendly staff, providing recommendations for food and drinks. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. The stand outs were the ling cod (main) and prawn cupcakes (appetizer). Loved the presentation of the food, and so much flavour in every dish!

Had the hot sour fish soup, vegetarian Penang curry and pad Thai. All of the dishes were delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh, flavors were well done - flavorful without being excessive. The soup had a kick, but I loved it. The curry used very interesting root vegetables and went very well with roti and rice. The pad Thai was also similarly excellent. Service was good, our server topped up my water regularly when I was sweating from the soup. Although I really enjoyed the meal, I found the price to be a bit high. It came to about 135 with tips for the two of us for 3 dishes. I also used to go for their lunch set regularly, but since they increased their prices.. not so much. Too bad.

I m really bummed with our recent experience. The food is amazing, but the service was so disappointing, especially for such a well recognized restaurant. We went to celebrate my birthday with my parents who were visiting from out of town, though this was never acknowledged as the team didn t interact with us on a personal level or ask us a single question while we were there. This was one of my parents favourite restaurants, we ve been several times and the food is amazing, but the service has seriously declined since we were last in. The service was incredibly impersonal and deficient. Once we made our chef s menu selections, we weren t checked on once. Nobody asked how we were doing, whether we needed help deciding, how the food was, or if we needed anything. The only time they came by was to drop food, or occasionally clear plates. To order additional drinks, we had to flag down staff, and the glasses from our first round sat at the table until we left. They left dirty food dishes on our plate until we left too. This isn t the kind of experience we expected from Maenam or any fine dining experience, especially when you re paying so much for a tasting menu and a celebration meal. It s super disappointing. That being said, the food and drinks were amazing, if service isn t important to you then I d still recommend it for the goods.

We recently (22 Nov 2024) visited the restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. The plan was to have a set menu for the whole group, however, one of our friends is vegetarian and most of the items in the set menu contained some type of meat/seafood. She asked if she could order a la carte, and it was a hard No from the server, our friend left upset and very disappointed and we were all confused. I feel Maenam could allow for some flexibility when these types of situations occurred, waiving the reservation fee does not fix the problem. There should always be flexibility, if you are flexible preparing food for someone with allergies/gluten free for example, you can also be flexible in people ordering a la carte, even, if the rest of the group do the set menu. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We went to Maenam Mar 2, 2024 to continue my husbands 50th birthday celebration. We were not disappointed, we almost didnt get a table because I had reserved online but they didnt have our reservation BUT they gave us a space at the bar. We had the set Chefs Menu Winter. You get the Snack and Relish, then we select share plates Hot and Sour Squid Soup which was amazing, spicy enough and super tasty. Then Crispy Mushroom Laab Salad to die for in my opinion, it had different types of mushrooms and everything was crispy. After we had Sable Fish Chichi Curry also delicious, small piece for two people but enough with all the other dishes added. The last dishes come with a bowl of rice to share. Then we had Pun nim Pad Pong Gari, you eat it like a wrap, small enough but filling and super flavourful. Finally the three desserts, one per person. The cocktails were also very good, the one in the photo is Blooming Blossom. One thing we noticed was that all dishes are a bit on the sweet side. We will go back to try the A la Carte Menu as the dishes are eye catching. Highly recommend that you give it a try, you wont be disappointed. It was pricy but well worth it. You will be satisfy. Service needs definite improvement, food tasted good, but at least two of our party had gastro issues right after. To provide more detail, I tried booking online, which does not work for larger parties. I called, got the runaround, was asked for my number with the promise that someone would call me back in 10 minutes. Never happened. I called again a few days later to book for the following weekend. Booking automatically requires taking the Chefs menu, no flexibility whatsoever. They also insisted on only booking if they got all my credit card info to charge me if I didnt show, even though I explained they could use my gift card. Without asking if this was ok, they had their bot spam me with text reminders of my reservation. When we showed up exactly on time, the table was not ready for another 10 minutes. Service during dinner was ok, just slow and uncoordinated, with some dishes being cleared, others standing around for a while, spills left on the table. Servers were fine, just felt overwhelmed. Overall, the service experience was very disappointing, far from what it would take for a Michelin star. Food actually tasted alright. It was good, not great, with some more balancing to do for really fine dining. The problem was that two of our party got sick after, really at the time something eaten for dinner would cause this. So not a good impression of Maenam.

had high hopes for this one. i originally booked this for my grandmothers 85th birthday and got through the online reservation for her day. I got a call a day after from the general manager, lee, who was very helpful at the time to let us know the tuesday was a special event with a $250+ for a set menu. since I was looking for more of a relaxed a la carte menu since my grandmother doesn t eat huge portions, lee was very helpful to suggest other places to eat and even suggested we could go the day before to treat us right due to this scheduling mishap. I agreed, and wanted to note it was for her birthday and to add the black pepper crab to the menu since you needed to give advance to the date. He mentioned we re ok to note the crab then and took our reservation. Since this was done on the phone and not online, I never received any kind of notification or confirmation on the reservation. I called a couple days before to confirm the crab and reservation but nobody answered, even left a voicemail on their line. Never received a call back, and showed up the day of and noticed it a bigger set-menu ordering 2 dishes per category since we were a table of 4 for a family-style course. I asked about the crab when I arrived, another manager came up and mentioned he tried calling me to confirm the crab but because hear from me which was really strange. I never received a call, and he gave us some champagne as a nice gesture for the miscommunication, and a couple extra dishes, which ended up being way too much food in the end. All the servers were really nice, but the portions were way too much for the 4 of us, and the dishes were a bit too rich for my grandmother. they ended up plating the rest of the dishes near their closing time where our entire table was filled to the corners of the table. After finishing most of the first courses and tidying up our finished plates, it took a very long time for servers to even tidy up our finished plates and we were absolutely stuffed to take the rest home. not only that but there wasn t much change of cutlery of serving plates throughout the service, or wiping down the table. The food pushed traditional thai dishes onto their own which I liked, but i thought they pushed the traditional dishes a bit too far and didn t recognize the usual dishes/tastes you d expect. the portions were way too much, and the communication and execution of the service was very poor. I really had high expectations for this restaurant for my grandma s birthday and I really wish they could improve on certain notes as the price was very high for all of these miscommunications and inconveniences. i really appreciated lee s initiative to help out initially but I really expected them to come through with the mistakes that were first in place.

For what reason would one place chilli pepper directly on your plate without mentioning it on the menu or during the order?? It RUINED my dinner. It took me while to remove it, and I ended up leaving a fourth of the meal behind to avoid burning my mouth even more. The whole food had that nasty, unnecessary taste of chilli pepper. Besides that, too expensive for the portion size and taste. There are better places in the city.

Went there on a weekend for the tasting menu with a group of friends for their birthday. I frequently holiday to Thailand so was very excited to try this place. I was quite disappointed, with this price tag the service was quite lackluster. It was nothing of a special meal. However most importantly the food was disappointing- I felt like many dishes were overly sweet and not spicy at all. I thought it was just me but my entire group of friends thought the same of our meal and won t be returning. It wasn t a horrible meal definitely would not go back. Google should really edit the description of this place and take out the traditional Thai dishes part of their description.

Yesterday, our party of 4 tried a walk in as we wanted to dine a-la-carte rather than Prix Fixe - we were offered two options - either sit at a table for less than 1 hour due to an incoming reservation, or join the waiting list. The host told us it shouldn t be long on the waiting list - and pointed at two adjacent 2-tops that were already eating, indicating that once they were done with their meals we would be seated. We opted for the waiting list and received a text message saying our table would be ready in 2 hours. At the 1.25 hour mark, we called in and were told the table should be ready in about 40 minutes. We did not receive any updates and came back to the restaurant at the 2.25 hour mark and were surprised to see 2 completely new parties sitting where we were told we would be seated. The host then told us that they would not be able to seat us as a group and the only thing they can do for us is seat our party at two separate tables. At this point, we chose to cut our losses and headed elsewhere. Within 10 minutes of us leaving Maenam we received a text from them asking if they could get a table ready for us. We ve heard great things about the food, we understand it s a busy spot - really disappointed with the experience.

Lovely contrasts of sweet, spicy, crunchy and silky. Snacks were spectacular. Yom tum cocktail was hard to not gulp down! Divine duck soup. Quail green curry disappeared. Five star with a big asterisk. I can t speak for the rest of the fine-dining menu, but I ll give a review solely based on the Pad Thai. This restaurant does the usual strategy where they have an expensive menu but also keep a few reasonably priced a la carte dishes so they don t rule out casual diners. The $30 Pad Thai they have is pretty dope. The portion is reasonable, great protein-to-starch ratio, everything on the plate is fresh, and seasoning is well-balanced, not overly sour like many other Thai places. I wouldn t say it blew me away, but it doesn t have to. It is a fine attempt at a classic working class dish. Of course, the Pad Thai here is about 70% more expensive than other places, but I think it is 70% better. It s priced just right for repeated visits and small celebrations. It is quite better than the Unchai just down the street. Then again I can t say the same about the rest of the menu, as being a casual diner I definitely won t pay $50 for the Sablefish dish. Service is good - nothing to complain about.

Exploring the culinary scene at Maenam, a Michelin Guide gem Rate: & would return with friends. On Valentine s Day, we opted for a taste of traditional Thai cuisine in this chic eatery. Although they extended their dine-out menu at $65pp, we chose to go à la carte for a different mix of dishes. The ambience was enchanting, and we could see ourselves returning with friends. We found most dishes on the sweeter side, which might not suit everyone s palate. However, the dishes were still unique and filled with Thai flavours. Here is a peak into our adventure: 1 Thai Cupcake with Nova Scotia Lobster 2 Tom Kha Coconut Soup of Halibut - Authentic but pricey. 3 Duck Leg in Curry - A standout dish! 4 House-made Naan - less oily but less crispy, could skip 5 Pad Thai 6 Desserts: Chocolate pot de crème - love the hint of spice Bua Loy with Dok Jok - Similar to other Asian desserts, could be skipped.

2024 Winter Tasting Menu. I really liked how the food is served family style. A great dining experience, our waiter explained each dish and answered all our questions. The snacks were all bangers. The flavour in the hot and sour pork soup blended really well. Desserts were all fun to try. Would suggest getting the sablefish curry over the chicken curry, the consistency of the chicken curry was very thin.

Maenam used to be one of the best restaurants in vancouver. It was one of my favourites and had the best lunch sets with soup, papaya salad and a main! Ever since they changed their menu I feel as though the experience has declined. They no longer even offer the soup or salad, which were incredible, and entire menu is a la carte so you have to get (and pay for) more, larger dishes to get the same amount of variety. They ve even removed some of my favourite mains entirely from the menu, like the grilled pork or friend chicken. The food is still good, and the service has always been fantastic, but it seems like they re going in the wrong direction.

Really enjoyed the meal. I wasn t sure what to expect but every dish was very well made, the ingredients worked well together, and the portions were good. My favorites were the Tom kha soup (the red chilli is hot), the sable fish curry, and custard like dessert. The cocktails were very good as well.

Probably the best Thai food Ive had. Let me explain. If youre familiar with Thai food, think about where you experience it. Now think about how its prepared. Lastly, think about the quality of the ingredients and they way they are presented to you. Now, think about all of these factors combined and brining them up a few notches. Thats Maenam. Thai food like youve probably never experienced it. To kick off our dinner, we had a few of their tailored made cocktails. The longan old fashioned and the blossom blooming were well balanced. As an appetizer we had the roti bread with peanut sauce, which was great. However the dishes we fully enjoyed were their grilled beef salad, the roasted sablefish dishes, and the pad thai. The beef salad was elegant and full of tender juicy slices of beef. The shrimp pad thai was definitely the best pad thai Ive had. The roasted sablefish was butter and the chuchi curry it came with was a great compliment to dish. None of the dishes too spicy, and had a great balance of flavors. Maenam is a must try if youre ever in the Vancouver area. Enjoy! Parking: We dined on a Saturday night and it didnt take too long for us to find some street parking but just be prepared.

I hate to write this review, as Maenam has been a staple for me since its opening. On Friday night, after a long week, my girlfriend and I decided to head out for dinner last minute. We arrived at Maenam around 8pm and were happy to find out they had a table for us even without a reservation. It wasnt until we arrived that we found out they were offering a Dine Out Vancouver menu at $65 per person. We were hungry so we decided to give this a go based on our previous experiences here. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The food this night was just blah. Very underwhelming. We ordered the sausage with sticky rice as our starter, the duck leg/banana salad/lingcod as our mains and the cashew cake as our dessert. Every one of our dishes excluding the dessert, were overly salty and deep fried. Nothing tasted fresh or lively. Beyond this the service was distracted and we ended up paying close to $200 with a drink each and tip. This whole experience was quite underwhelming and very disappointing given our previous experiences. Unfortunately, I think this may be our last time dining at this restaurant and really wanted to write this review so others are not mislead into trying their Dine Out Menu. I hope that Maenam takes this feedback constructively and will work to improve diners experiences moving forward.

If you have children, don t come!!! We came with my in laws and I brought my 16mo son along for a belated birthday celebration. My husband arrived early with my son for a 5pm reservation. The restaurant was empty at this time. My son was fussing and was crying and my husband was trying to soothe him. The server had the nerve to come up and tell my husband can you make sure he doesn t cry when people are here? I m just going to leave it at that. Clearly this person is childless and have never been a parent. I don t know if getting some Michelin recognition all of a sudden put a stick up their a**, but the service was definitely not welcoming. Also the food was always salty af. Never coming back.

Ordered takeout and as our dinner progressed, we decided to come back the next day with our daughter. When you get such an incredible culinary experience , it s never too much! Thai-tastic Experience at Maenam: A Flavor Fiesta in Vancouver! Maenams Thai Magic During Dine Out Vancouver Went to Maenam for a birthday bash during the Dine Out Vancouver Fest. Its a Thai spot thats got some serious buzz, and boy, did it deliver! Kickoff with Starters We dove in with a Thai Cupcake (fancy, right?) with Nova Scotia Lobster and this killer Tom Kha Coconut Mushroom Soup. That soup, guys, was a game changer - creamy, tangy, and packed with flavor. Salad Time: Fresh and Zingy Salad round was up next. We tried the Grilled Prawn Salad and a Crispy Banana Blossom Salad. Both were fresh, crisp, and had this awesome mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. Main Dish Magic We went all out on the mains: Yellow Gati Seafood Curry, Maitake Mushroom Gaeng Gari, a 3 Flavor Pork Rib Stir-fry, and an 8 Spice Lingcod Stir-fry. The seafood curry was the star - it had this complex spice mix that was just mind-blowing. Dessert: Ending on a High Note Wrapped up with Bua Loy and Chocolate Pot de Crème. Both were super indulgent and the perfect sweet end to a fab meal. Service & Vibes: Top-Notch Big shoutout to the staff at Maenam - super friendly and knew their stuff. The place has a great vibe too, making the whole dinner even better. Final Thoughts: Thai-tastic! Maenam isnt just a dinner spot; its a full-on Thai flavor adventure. Everything, from starters to sweets, was a hit. The spots got a cool atmosphere and service that makes you feel like a VIP. If youre up for Thai food thats a cut above, hit up Maenam in Vancouver.

Valentines Day 2024 We both really enjoyed the night. The atmosphere and the services were fantastic and the food was overall delicious as well. I especially love the cocktail, appetizers (snacks + relish) and the salad (Duck Leg Salad). They all had something unique and special about them. The soup (Hot & Sour Port & Clam Soup) was really tasty too. However, the curry (Sablefish Chuchi curry), stir-fry (Kua Kling Kuea), and the desserts were a lot more mediocre. I was quite disappointed with how spicy the curry was even though we were told its only mild.

We tried the tasting menu last night for $88 per person. I would say that the snacks were definitely the best part of the meal while everything else did not have any wow factor. The soups, salad and curry tasted very typical... Definitely feels like Ive tasted better around Vancouver. The desserts were quite good however but missing a wow factor. The service was pleasant but maybe a bit disorganized? A very highlight of the meal was the fact that the chef was willing to accommodate a shrimp allergy. A very strong 4/5 star restaurant, but personally I would unlikely come back. Dietary restrictions: Able to accommodate shellfish allergy with substitute

February 23, 2024

We did the tasting menu. Food was good, portions could have been slightly larger especially for 4 people (for example a very small piece of sable fish in curry to share among 4 - you barely got a bite of it). Largest issue was timing, I have been to many tasting menus and it was unfortunate that the salad, curries and stir-fry was all brought out at once. It felt very rushed and overwhelming because It could not be enjoyed - there was way too many flavours and dishes (6 at once) going on. The salads should have been brought out by themselves after the soups. It would have been fine had the curry and stir-fry been brought out together. The service was ok, the servers could have done a better job describing the dishes and communicating. However, the huge red flag and lack of clarity on the servers part was the warning of the hot red pepper in one of the soups. This should have been more clear and all patrons should have been warned, or to be honest when the kitchen is serving it - it should be removed. My husband ate it by mistake thinking it was a carrot and was very uncomfortable for most of the evening after. Something like this from a restaurant at this price point that is Michelin recommended is not acceptable.

While the Moo Krob Pad Gabi (pork belly stir fry) was unexpectedly disappointing. I hoped the pork belly would be super supple and/or crispy, but it was neither. And in some bites, it was tough. Maenam has great reviews and I hadn t gone for a while, so I used Dineout as an excuse to come back. Their dineout menu isn t the typical 3 course: appetizer, entree, dessert, it s made to share and because of that, there s more variety. There were some dishes that were standard, while others stood out to me. The Hot and Sour Soup was quite standard, good amount of seafood in it though and a great way to start your meal. I will say I expected more Salad from the Fried Squid Salad, but it was literally just Fried Squid. I didn t even think it was that good and would personally order a different salad. Highlights was definitely the Duck and Lingcod. The Duck Leg Curry was full of flavour, which balanced well with rice. I thought the Confit was a great call because the meat so fall off the bone tender, yet it wasn t a heavy or oily dish. As for the Lingcod, I think it was shallow fried to have the skin nice and crispy. I also appreciated the fact that this dish had the most veggies and the flavour was on point. It was my favourite dish. The Bua Loy was also very good - it s a dish if you like that QQ texture or just chewy mochi type balls in general. They used what tasted like a savory coconut milk, so it wasn t too sweet at all and very light. As for the Cashew Mor Kaeng, I wasn t really a fan, purely because I don t really like custard desserts, but my friends liked it. Overall, I had a great experience here. I like how it s quite a cozy intimate vibe that also offers good service. Food was generally good and I think dineout makes it worth a visit.

Note that Maenam only does tasting menu if you reserve. This was not clear on their website or during reservations, even if you read it now, it doesnt say a la carte is only available for walk ins. Besides that the food overall was good but nothing wowd us which I was expecting for a Micheline guide recommended restaurant. $88pp for 4 courses ( menu said for an overall 11 dishes - FYI the appies were 4 hours derve sized bites which accounted for 4 dishes) Appies - 4/5, loved all of them but nothing over the top special Bison Salad- 0/5 it was soo salty it tasted bitter Halibut coconut sour soup - 2/5 Didnt quite give us the kick expected It jusy tasted like a coconut broth They offered us the shrimp salad after which we enjoyed ,the shrimp was definitely undercooked, you can still see the raw center but I trust that its sashimi grade and ate Nothing special ( taste more like a Viet dish) 3/5 Sablefish curry - 5/5 fish was cooked perfectly, more very flavourful and perfect with rice Pork belly pad cha - 3/5 good but nothing special Desert- Hazelnut cake and coconut jelly 2/5 Hazlenut cake got soggy from the sauce but I loved the brulee on top Coconut jelly was super dense, I think they might have used too much agar agar, but it wasnt too sweet and had a lot of ( what felt like) fresh coconut meat. Overall a good dining experience but missed the mark for us on many things. We probably wont be back. The quality of the food is exceptional, particularly the dumplings, vegetarian green curry, and coconut soup, which we found to be incredibly delicious. Similar to many establishments in Vancouver, this place caters to a diverse range of dietary preferences, ensuring that even vegans have at least one suitable choice. Additionally, their happy hour drinks are highly enjoyable. One aspect that stood out to us was the variety of options available on the menu. Whether you were a meat lover, a vegetarian, or a vegan, there were numerous choices to suit every palate. It was refreshing to see a restaurant that prioritized inclusivity and catered to different dietary needs without compromising on taste or quality. My spouse and I made a reservation for a milestone birthday. After we arrived, we were seated in a better part of the restaurant. It wasnt until a bit later that we were informed that reservations require purchase of a set menu. This meant we were NOT allowed to order à la carte. After we inquired about this, we had to move seats to the area catering to walk-ins. We then inquired about moving to a different, better seat. We were informed that that area was also reserved for set menu customers. Since I had made a reservation, we asked to be moved to that area. They allowed us to move to the new seat but informed us that we had to be out by 8:00pm since that particular seat was also reserved. We really did not feel welcome. Long story short, the food was good but the whole set menu OR à la carte policy was quite off-putting. If that policy remains in place, we wont likely be visiting this establishment again. My better half got the Halibut Green Curry with long bean sweet peppers and Thai basil. Both dishes arrived with rice, daily soup & daily salad. The Eggplant came with a Mushroom curry soup while the Halibut curry Lemongrass soup. The Salads had a nice hit of spice. A delicious lunch and a fine culinary send-off. Meanam has been one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver for over 10 years. Every meal there is fantastic, but recently they truly set a new standard for how accommodating a restaurant can be. My friend made a bookshelf no for a special occasion. She said, in our group there is a vegan, vegetarian, person with a nut allergy (not anaphylactic) and person with celiac disease (gluten free). The host said, that s no problem. We shared the tasting menu and every dish met our combined dietary requirements, and let me tell you, it was delicious. That s a really tough combination of dietary restrictions and the staff at Maenam did not bat an eye. Thank you thank you thank you for such an incredible meal.

This dreadful excuse for a restaurant deserves nothing but disdain. Can you believe the audacity? Their deceitful waitress had the nerve to feed us a blatant lie about their so-called tasting menu, conveniently priced at a whopping $88. And why, you might ask, were we coerced into this extortionate option? Well, they had the gall to threaten us with a preposterous $40 cancellation fee per person. As if that wasnt infuriating enough, we were subjected to a lackluster tasting menu that hardly justified the exorbitant cost, especially for mere JUST THAI FOOD. But wait, it gets better. As our lackluster meal came to an end, their supposed manager had the audacity to approach us for feedback. Oh, we had questions alright. We dared to inquire why they peddled this singular tasting menu when a la carte options apparently existed. His pitiful attempt at an explanation fell pathetically short, leaving us baffled as to why his underlings felt entitled to spin their deceitful web of lies. This establishment, if you can even call it that, is nothing short of a conniving SCAM, preying on unsuspecting patrons. And as if the deplorable service werent enough, the culinary abominations they dared to present as food were an affront to our palates. The flavors? A disastrous mishmash of sickeningly sweet and disgustingly salty, assaulting our taste buds in a cruel symphony of culinary incompetence. We shall certainly never subject ourselves to such torment again. A resounding declaration: we shall never grace this pitiful excuse for a restaurant with our presence. Oh, and lets not forget the pièce de résistance of this farce. Among our unfortunate party was a dear friend who happens to be a devoted vegetarian. Now brace yourself for this mind-boggling revelation: they had the audacity to serve her a plate of crudely chopped, practically raw vegetables and beans that were meant to be cooked. The sheer audacity of presenting such a pitiful excuse for a dish was beyond belief. To witness this gastronomic atrocity inflicted upon a vegetarian was an insult of the highest order. This establishments incompetence knows no bounds, and the culinary catastrophe they orchestrated for our vegetarian companion was the ultimate slap in the face.

Recommend chefs menu if you want to try something new! We always order the same Thai food but this chef s menu really gives us a totally different thai food experience from starter to desserts.

Maenam is delicious & accommodating! Obviously expensive, but worth it for a special treat. The chef s menu was generous and wholly delectable. Their Tom Kha soup is out of this world & one of the best soups I ve ever had. We had a gluten free, vegan, & peanut allergy table and somehow they made a delicious meal for us. Thank you, Maenam! Vegetarian options: Vegan Dietary restrictions: Celeriac friendly

It was a pleasantly surprise Thai experience! The lunch set menu came with the main dish and sides (soup, salad and rice), the Stir-fried beef tenderloin was tasty, I loved the salad which had the right amount of citric and a very power soup. Also, the dessert was delicious, we had to ask twice because we really enjoyed it. A nice gem in Kitsilano area.

We were excited about elevated Thai food Food was mostly good. Not your typical Thai restaurant. We did the chef s menu Presentation and service was great. The mushroom soup and appies were brilliant and my favourite. The veg curry was way too salty and way too much sweet used in all dishes; the corn and tomatoe salad was average. I would have liked to see more savoury and citrus flavours being showcased in the chef s menu. I am not sure if I will go there again because of the sugar and salt overload.

Superlative food and attentive service. The drinks and beer menu are varied and considered. The chef s tasting menu was filing for me (a chucky guy who eats a lot)

I ve lived in Vancouver 13 years and Meanam is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant in all the city. It is a culinary adventure you will not forget. I go here for all of my most special occasions. Yes it s a bit on the pricier side, but for the top quality you get, more than worth it.

Beautiful plating and great service. Dont like the snack portions fool you, the mains are a LOT of food! Everything we had was delicious (pictures are portions for 3 people, so we got an extra curry as part of the meal)

The food here is absolutely the BEST thai food Ive ever had. So many delicious flavours, textures, and creative combinations. Also for a Michelin starred restaurant, it is very reasonably priced. Their website indicated they were fully booked the night we wanted to go but we were able to get a table without a reservation by walking in right when they opened at 5pm. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Had not been there for a few years. Very disappointed with the lunch. I ordered a curry fish, and the curry was super watery. Taste was OK, but with a $26 lunch , there were only a very few small pieces of fish. It s not a cheap lunch, but the waitress came a few times Asking if we are ready for the bill, and after a few times, she just came with the bill automatically. And a few minutes later she came with the payment machine. So pressure and not enjoyable. Will not go there again , very disappointed.

The food is excellent and so is the service. Its a little let down by the atmosphere of the restaurant however. I have to say that its perhaps because it was during the middle of the week, but otherwise, I strongly suggest the curry and pad Thai here.

This place is amazing! I got the set menu with a vegetarian friend to celebrate a birthday. All of the appetizers (you get three) and all of the desserts (also three) made me make mmm-ooh-wow sounds. All six of those were some of the most interesting dishes I have had anywhere. Even the Tom Kha soup I have had many other places was made extra interesting with delicious well roasted sweet squash and wonderful chili oil. Be careful with the hot red chilis on the side - they built their burn and go for like 5 minutes (even on a tiny 4 mm slice). The mains were very strong on the umami and made really good use of many different kinds of mushrooms. The Thai iced tea with coconut milk was so good that I got two. We added roti and peanut sauce and that was a good addition. I cant wait to come back for more. Vegetarian options: They did their set menu vegetarian and were super careful about restrictions. It was wonderful, delicious, varied, and thoughtful.

Food was great, the chicken soup with chanterelles was simply exquisite. The sturgeon curry was possibly the best curry I ever had, seasoned perfectly. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend
