I wish I could return this food tonight, it so unfortunate you have closed and it’s late for me. The jollof rice is tasteless, I requested for ordinary rice and not basmati, I got basmati. I doubt if you do check your orders well before you deliver. This isn’t the first nor third time I’m experiencing this…I just hope you do something about it. If this was in the noon or if it was not this late. I would have return this food honestly. Dissatisfied with this food.
Came in over the weekend and ordered egusi soup which had way too much goat meat in it. Our server Anna was very sweet and sympathetic about the situation which makes me want to give the restaurant another shot!
So I usually buy white rice and stew with fish for $25 which is quite expensive to be honest, but I don’t care because it’s my favourite & this usually packed with an extra container for the stew&fish which means the rice is packed in the container below, so to my surprised on October 9 2024 everything was packed in one container with the same price ($25) which only means one thing the rice has been reduced I spoke to the lady at the bar who is quite nice & she referred me to lady in the kitchen. I heard the lady in kitchen mumbling the typical Nigerian elder how dare you question me or my service lady. She said & i quote “ this is how we have been dishing the food noting has changed” & I called her out on her lie because I was just yesterday and it was never like this I buy the same food at least 3/4 times a week & I have never received my food like that. If you go to other African restaurants like YKO you will get half chicken with jollof rice for way less than $25. When you try to support your own Nigerian communities it bites you back because of greed I’m never going back there too expensive & very unprofessional from the cook
The current person in the kitchen doesn't cook tasty food. The Egusi is tasteless with meat only Shaki and one beef with bone. This is awkward. The first lady in that kitchen makes us want to come here with assorted meat in the soup. It is different now, the current person in the kitchen is running this restaurant like it is one located in Onitsha. She doesn't listen to customers complain, she chooses those she will go to their table to listen to their complaint, if you come here alone, she will definitely won't pay attention to your complaint. Her style of service is disoriented. Unlike the former lady. Check up the toilet since the new person came, is messed up, dirty with no soap to wash hands. The floor of that toilet is dirty including the washing hand sink and mirror What attracts a lot of people here is the assorted meat in the soup, their hot pepper soup, white soup and a good quantity of rice and how clean the convenience room is- is not there anymore. Most annoying is immediately you wash your hands, the waitress will come to you immediately to pay without even asking if you like the food. Mr Okafor. Please pay more attention. We love to see your business flourish beyond this.
Happened upon this place by accident. Went inside and the interior is very nice. However, the staff is completely disengaged and more interested in playing with their phones than serving customers. The girl at the bar had absolutely no knowledge of the menu or what drinks they serve or how much anything costs and had to keep going into a back room to get another girl who seemed annoyed that she was being asked to do anything. Additionally, the girl at the bar over-poured, which is a losss of revenue for the owner. Put it this way, if Jon Taffer ever walked in, he'd be screaming at the owner to fire all the staff. We would have loved to have ordered food, but the staff didn't seem to care, so we just left after one drink. Crappy place. Won't be going back.
I went in with my family yesterday and the owner gave an awesome welcome to us, It gave me a Jahi-Abuja vibe-the building, decoration etc was on point, homely and so Nigeria-ish. The food I ordered personally was Poudo yam and Egusi soup, it so delicious and satisfying that I didn't eat till this afternoon. Our attendant Emmanuella was also great and pleasant. The only problem I had was the noise, if only the noise could be in another section... Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I will highly recommend it to others to visit Chichi. My wife still longs to have a taste of the food-Asun, white soup, jollof rice. Next time I visit Ottawa, I definitely must visit Chichi's Restaurant and I hope I find them even better!!!
Fried rice and plantains were excellent! Chicken was tasty, but as other reviews have stated, very, very tough. I've never had egusi before, but the one I received smelled like cigars and a horse stable, and tasted about the same. My body feels like it's haunted as I write this review.
First red flag, the security guard outside to greet us wearing a bulletproof vest and body cam and told us it was a bad area. We didn't get a menu because a lot of it was not available. We told our server our preferences and she gave us only 4 options (second red flag). Food came cold. Goat meat, chicken and plantain were tough. Manager came by, apologized then gave excuses like the goat meat serving dish was still warm and no vegetables because of weekend specials. As we were trying to leave the manager said they have lots of options but our bad experience was because we made bad selections.
Am highly disappointed in chichi restaurant, this is the second time am having a very bad experience.i ordered two plates of Pando/ Efo $29 each. Small tiny bowl of 2year old portion of soup and only 2 tiny shaped bony meat.. I was furious and mad, I didn t know how to drive all the way to return that thing they call food.. I felt sad.. how on it can you sell a grown up using their hard earned money that kind of food.. I will never ever make that mistake of going there again..am gonna post the pictures on all groups so people can see for themselves
Never order puff puff from then it is so bad tasted like chemicals waste of money
Very beautiful place, the food is amazing
It was phenomenal
I felt like I was in Naija. The food, the music and ambience were all awesome with touch of professionalism and customer centric vibes Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility is provided at the parking lot, entrance, exit doors and washroom
Mediocre food. Consistently out of ingredients. Gave this place 3 tries and I regret it.
I wonder why the owner of this restaurant keeps Ngozi employed. She is extremely negative, disrespectful to customers, and always causing trouble and commotion. She seems dishonest and unpleasant. Its hard to believe someone like her is allowed to cook for people.
Great atmosphere Great food Gives that smooth Lagos vibes feeling Food : 5/5
Good food. Good ambience, but can be better.
Nice place to enjoy good food and music.
Awesome and fantastic place to be
Didnt even get inside. The website says theyre open for lunch, which is false. An employee happened to be there and practically laughed in my face when I asked if they were open. She smelt strongly of weed.
Their staff need to work more on customer relationship.
I had so much fun, we danced and the food was delicious. Parking: The parking was free, some one was directing us on where to park which made it very easy Food : 5/5 |
Great Nigerian food Great staff Great night time entertainment Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair access and washrooms
Nice food
Really enjoyed their jollof rice! Looking forward to try more things.
Nice and friendly staff. Food was delicious and the drinks always hit the spot! Vegetarian options: Native African dishes that offer healthy dining options.
Much of menu was not available. Chicken drumstick that came with the rice was incredibly overdone, mostly inedible. Rice and plantains were good enough but prices ($25) are way too high. Interior was very hot and service was middling considering how many employees were around. I think theres potential for more African restaurants in Ottawa but this particular spot has a lot of work to do if they want to stick around.
Ordered on Uber eats and portions are small wayyy too overpriced ordered rice & jollof and in the rice they put 2 small pieces of beef in it that s literaly first and last time sorry. Not coming here again rather go to suya palace , don t waste your money.
No shisha
The quantity food is too small for $26. Above all food tastes good.
UNorganized mess
Food was absolutely wonderful, and the staff was very welcoming.
Terrible service. Walked all the way over just to be ignored and went to another restaurant Aztec Tacos on MOntreal Rd is 5 stars
Naija delicacies at its best.
Let me keep this short. Our waitress was high and smelled of weed. She kept forgetting our drink/food order and returned several times to be reminded. The full menu was not available. We ordered beef and chicken with fried rice. Beef and chicken was hard we couldnt eat it, neither could my kids. The rice was mediocre. It was boiled properly but the frozen vegetables in the rice were freezer burnt and gave a weird after taste. The light in the mens bathroom was burnt out so my partner used the facilities in the dark and my 7 year old was locked in the girls bathroom as it can only be opened from the outside. All in all the waitress asked us how was the food and we said unedible and her reponse was I know, would you like a take away tray ... lol.. dont forget she was high. I softly said no thank you. This place is cute one the inside, good music, club lighting... definitely do your research before you visit.
