We have attended the "Tapas" night, the "Paella" Night and now the "all you can eat Peruvian" night. Food is excellent. Many Cocktails available, wine list is good and prices fair. Decor is new modern, and hip.
Just wow! I was at Soca Kitchen for the first time tonight for a special Peruvian inspired buffet night! The food was beyond delicious and I couldn't get enough! The ambiance is a blend of modern industrial with cozy vibes, dim lighting. Everything was perfect! Nothing negative to say about this place or the food! Can't wait go come back to order from their regular menu! #buffet
Food is always amazing! Good quality and variety, we try every event they have and it is beyond expectations :) last experience was the brunch buffet was excellent! Virgin cocktails are a hit for kids
Finally got the chance to try this place, after friends recommending it for years (when they were still in Westboro). Came for the Monday night blind tasting menu, the perfect way to try out a new place. $28 a person + drink order, there were 4 courses. We were served the sweet beetroot salad, shrimp Al aljillo on plantain, patatas bravas, and pork tacos. Loves the fries, skinny and super crispy, my preferred kind of fries. The tacos had so much meat filling. Everything was delicious, picky Asian mom approved! Perfect amount for 2 females. We will definitely be back another time to try their entrees. Decor is the restaurant was classy and not overdone. -1 star for the bench seating that has the PU coating peeling.
I can’t stop coming back. The food at soca kitchen is some of the best in this city. Their care for ingredients and ability to just make a dish with such amazing flavours and textures always makes visiting soca such a special experience. Additionally the kindness of the owners and their customer service is unmatched. Highly recommend this restaurant — it’s always money well spent.
Always delicious! We have been a handful of times and it is consistently good food and service. Brunch is especially great! Our go to place to bring guests and they are always impressed. Soca staff is very knowledgeable about allergies and it's a great place to go for gluten free options.
It had been a few years since my last visit to Soca, and this was my first to the Beechwood location. Everything was excellent, from the warm welcome and top-notch attention from Gustavo to the extraordinary cuisine of Chef Daniela. I highly recommend you give it a try, and when you do, make sure not to miss out on their paellas.
Overall , overpriced basic food served with cold bread. Expensive cocktail with bad expired ingredients. Paella is really small basic size for 2 people. $62/ plate. Overly salted. Bread, basic. COLD!! Talked to the waiter. Waste of time.
The beet salad was prepared perfectly, the surf and turf paella was full of flavor, paired with a bottle of red and decadent cheesecake! The dinner was paired with a beautiful and calming atmosphere.
A beautiful atmosphere, cool drinks and wonderful food. The service was great and we will definitely be back
High-end place. Bring your wallet. But good is spectacular. Award winning chef. Best cerviche Ive ever had. Dietary restrictions: Gluton free stuff Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Visited Soca Kitchen for their all-you-can-eat paella and was deeply disappointed. The buffet wasn t refreshed, leaving only mushy rice and the quality was terrible. Overpriced for bland, poorly managed food. Wouldn t recommend!
Excellent food and service - we have been going there for years and have never been disappointed.
Amazing everything Vegetarian options: Amazing Food : 5/5 |
Went for the promotion buffet. Excellent food. Excellent service. Really nice staff.
Wow! Came for the taco buffet for a special anniversary! What lucky timing! Beef, pork, chicken with all the addons in buffet form (no waiting needed)! We will definitely return for the next event! Parking: Parking free on street in front
Wish I had pictures of the taco buffet but I was too busy eating! The margarita is to die for, I had a pair and it was amazing Food : 5/5
Delicious taco, great service, awesome atmosphere! Went for the taco buffet and it was soooo worth it
Wonderful Buffet
Authentic fresh food, always served with a smile in a very inviting atmosphere. Top notch. Excellent buffet !!!
Taco buffet was good! Parking: Very accessible Food : 5/5 |
Great Old Fashioned (best in city) and taco buffet!! Dietary restrictions: All gluten free = great! Food : 5/5 |
The atmosphere is beautiful but due to the lack of light it was hard for me to read the menu, even with the small light provided at the table. I was dinning with a friend of mine and we both enjoyed the food, it was absolutely delicious, the presentation was gorgous and the service was on point. Would deffinitly eat there again
Great atmosphere and delicious food at very reasonable prices. We attended the buffet for their 10 year anniversary and it was still the same quality food as when normally ordering. Would definitely recommend the brunch, and you only really need a reservation for the dinner.
The place is super nice and very pleasant. The brunch buffet is amazing and delicious! 100% recommended, the best in Ottawa
Very nice experience! Delicious food!!
Very modern and sophisticated restaurant. We came here for dinner last week and it exceeded our expectations. Each dish was unique and full of flavours that you dont get to experience at other restaurants. I would highly recommend this place if youre looking to try new and fresh Spanish tapas. The buffet was spectacular!
Buffet
The Monday night tasting menu is sublime! Creative twists on traditional dishes served up , like ceviche and tostada. Flavours and textures combine in wonderful pairings, like cilantro and avocado . . Attentive service, fresh cocktails. This place is a great find.
Came for the blind tasting menu and had a delightful time! The tamarind mojito was yummy and well balanced. The dinner was the perfect amount for two people, with a fish tostado topped with a fried egg, yucca fries, a shrimp ceviche with mango and pineapple and some lovely potatoes topped with octopus. The service was attentive as well. Would definitely come back!
Very good. A bit pricey, look for the specials to get a great deal on good food!
If youre a fan of elevated latin Street food and fancy cocktails...and OMG the paella . Very good. I will be back soon!
Would go again
Food was excellent, so delicious. My 5 year old loved it, and finished her whole plate. The fish was excellent and so was the paella. Basically every item we ordered.
We were at Soca tonight for a special buffet menue and it was a great experience. Weve been to Soca many times, they always offer great selections, but the buffet was truly amazing.
Great dinning experience on Saturday evening with friends. Great food. Well done! We will for sure go back!
Both starters and main course are amazing!
I had been tempted by the blind tasting for quite sometime and finally went for a friends birthday. It did not disappoint, lots of options, mostly seafood based but am still thinking of the yucca fries! I have also had the take out taco kit in the past and the sauces were delicious.
I ve been going to Soca Kitchen including when they were on Holland Ave., and now chase them down on Beechwood. Great variety of Latin food, consistently excellent service, and great ambiance. It s my go to place for Latin fusion, and I ve brought several family members and friends here, because I know they won t be disappointed.
The self serve taco special buffet was amazing! The playlist, the ambiance, and the staff were amazing. It was our first time at the Soca but it definitely wont be the last.
PROs: We had the whole fish which was incredibly tasty and flaky; extremely well seasoned. We also ate the paella and the bravas. The Paella was very very good but too much aioli which overshadowed the pork and saffron rice flavours. CONs: We ordered the Bravas. They were just alright. Way too much cilantro and green onion. Could not taste the seasoning on the fries. The PUNCHLINE: Would probably go again, but not dying to do so.
Soca Kitchen Peruvian Feast Buffet The restaurant is inviting and nicely decorated. After we were seated, we ordered our drinks, Tamarind Mojitos. Flavourful and refreshing. The buffet was set up in the bar area. A very nice spread of: Soca Salad with pickled slaw and black garlic citrus vinaigrette Causa Limeña topped with tuna Chicken and choclo (corn) pastel Fish sudado with coriander and lime Shrimp and pineapple ceviche Yuca and salsa huancaina Chicken with Ají Panca marinade Braised carne (beef) Limeña and rice Assortment of toppings and sauces All the dishes were well-prepared and tasty. No skimping on good ingredients. The fish sudado could have used a bit more salt and a little less lime. Our favourites were the chicken pastel topped with the citrus mojo and the braised beef. The service was pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed the Peruvian Feast buffet experience and would gladly return in the future.
Great restaurant. The food is very fresh. The Smokey Old Fashioned is worth trying!
Great lunch menu. Beautiful well lit restaurant. Will be coming back with my colleagues
It was underwhelming, sorry to say. The baguette with black butter and parmesan was a stale loaf with some butter and cheese dribbled on top - tough to share and eat - and the paella was... fine, but not the best presentation and seemed mainly to be rice with some shrimp and seafood sparingly mixed in, and no vegetables to be found. While advertised for two, the amount in it presumes neither are really all that hungry. The cocktail was lovely though, and the service and atmosphere is quite nice. I really wanted to like it, but Alas. Perhaps we caught this restaurant on an off night as wed heard good things - but we were disappointed overall.
Good place to have a good meal.
Food was delicious and fresh! Great service!
The was superb! Fish is crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. Very fresh.. definitely making it a Wednesday ritual! Special thanks to our waiter Gustavo
The best restaurant in Ottawa! The food was exceptional and full of flavour. The restaurant is beautiful with an enchanting vibe and the service was out of this world awesome. I cant wait for my next visit. You must come experience this culinary gem! Parking: Use street parking on Marquette
What an amazing experience! Service and food was exceptional. Ambiance is also very nice. Can absolutely recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful calm space that feels high dining but good is not overpriced! Lots of choices and a changing table
Love the owners, love the food, special mention to get the ceviche served with fried plantain! Lunch specials are awesome as well Dietary restrictions: Veg options available
Vegetarian options: Eggplant tacos Recommended dishes
This place looks nice , the people are nice as well and the food is even better ! Came for brunch and i would come again for sure Parking: Parking at the park right beside
Amazing food and ambiance! Server was amazing and helped us decide what to get! Will be returning soon!
Delicious food and wonderful service! Would come back!
My Venezuelan breakfast was okay but basic. Prices are fair but based on the food and preparation definitely not 5 stars. If you are going to charge premium prices for meals then live up to expectations. Our server was awesome and the decor is beautiful. .
It is the first time when we had dinner at this location . Nice bright spacious . The new place was new for us , I am sure they moved very long time ago . We came here for the tapas special . We had 3 courses more the. Enough , all were delish !! I do not know personally the chef but I heard of her work and achievements . We went for blind taste menu and it was a great decision. We will return and recommend !
We ve been to Soca many times and the food never ceases to amaze. A great date night spot!
Great date night spot! Delicious food, great service and a quaint atmosphere! Food was a good price for quality received. Look forward to visiting in the future to try other items!
Amazing must not miss spot on Beechwood. The service is always personal and prompt! The paella is TO DIE FOR!! Thank you for an amazing nice, Soca Kitchen Vegetarian options: Eggplant Paella was amazing!
Service was exceptional. Very kind and personable staff.
Elevated and delicious food with a down-to-earth atmosphere and excellent service. Wish I could go at least once a day!
Gustavo is a lovely host and the food was fantastic
The food makes you travel, it is very very delicious :) the service is very friendly too!
Brunch was so flavourful and the service was wonderful! Recommendation did not disappoint, service was lovely and the food was fresh and fast! Definitely recommend brunch here!
Food is always amazing here. Service is always above and beyond.
We had the tasting menu - the food was fantastic and well presented. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming.
This place has downgraded so much, it is serving pub food! We ordered fish tacos and it came so greasy with a giant serving of fries, not homemade fries but something like you get at McDonalds. Tacos were tasteless and tiny. The service is extremely slow and there is only a one waiter serving inside and outside. We wont go back there. There is no correlation between quality and price. Valid alternatives in the area: SushiMe and Chilaquiles tacos on Beachwood
Beautifully decorated place, spotlessly clean everywhere, including the kitchen, service was really good and the food so very delicious. Everything freshly prepared and nicely presented. The coffee was the best I ve had in a very long time too. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The best paella in ottawa. Amazing food. Tables are super small so if you order alot. They need to combine tables. Service and food are great. Lighting and table size need to be fixed
Alternative choices of very well prepared food. try their patatas bravas. the tacos were generous and very tasty. Food
I was a little disappointed in this place. Ive seen great reviews and the place looks really great but I found the food and service were sub par for the price point. I tried almost every appetizer and nothing really amazed me. The Old Fashioned was also a let down.
I do not recommend this place to anybody who wants actual Spanish food there so kitchen is a nice place to look at. It s the ambiance is nice you walk in it s great it s clean it s fresh but the blind tapas tasting I would never recommend it to me it was a lazy choice on the chefs too, serve mostly vegetable dishes and charge $28per person. We paid $28 per person and most of the dishes were all vegetables. It was a kale salad with heavy cream and Parmesan cheese beets also caramelized onions and crispy caramelized walnuts. It was tasty but it was a lot of cream , there were two eggs in a dish with the bottom baked again in cream It was tasty, but it wasn t enough for four people the second fries seasoning also with cream on top then it was literally one battered fish and a half sliced into served on the smallest pieces of tortilla bread or and they called it fish taco like literally I could ve bought everything on that table for $28 as opposed to spending $140 to me. It was lazy it was cheap. I was it was my birthday. I was hungry. I was looking forward to a full meal and everything on the table. I literally could ve bought at the grocery store for $28 or I could ve just went to a chip truck down and down the street and get fries and and fish , it was like fish and chips pretty much with kale and beets. It was actually very disappointing. I thought it was a waste of money. I think the whole blind tapas tasting is a scam. I don t recommend anyone go there if you re like lactose intolerant like me like so t bother there I couldn t even make it home because I was trying to avoid the cream, but it was almost impossible. The drinks were super expensive, which they require you to buy to be eligible to do the tapas tasting. It was $17 for a small glass. I just feel like this place is a scam. I was there with my mom and my daughters my youngest one being six years old so we excluded her from the tasting because she s a picky eater and I knew she wasn t gonna have anything that came from the blind tap tasting. They never even asked. What can we get for her or if they can offer her something else or like my daughter basically just ate bread The server never came back and asked how we were feeling or how we were doing after you serve us, they was only one server in the restaurant at dinner time it was fairly the service sucked, and when I did express my opinion to the server, he was like oh I m highly offended and was kind of rude And kind of disregarded my feelings at the end of the day we are paying customers and our opinions to and the customers always right so I really would never go back to that spot
Gluten-Free Options: Yes Cross Contamination: Unsure Halal/ Kosher Options: No Vegan Option: Unsure Vegetarian Options: Yes Nut Free Options: Yes Dairy Free: Unsure First Impression: Tastefully designed. Perfect for a date night or a girls night out. Favourite: Beef tacos. Critiques: More options on the menu would be nice. Bonus: They have mocktails. Follow on tiktok: @eatwithbuns

Updated Review (August 2024): Downgrading the rating to 3 stars because the waiter has become overly off-putting. The waiter may think his sarcasm is witty, but is it taking away from a good eating experience. The food remains good, but his attitude needs to change. I went there with my wife at Christmastime 2023 and he asked us three times if we wanted alcoholic drinks (which we didnt want) and each time he tried to make us feel silly/stupid for not wanting alcoholic drinks; we are not recovering alcoholics, but what if he did this to someone who was trying to quit drinking. Then earlier this summer, we went there with another couple and again, he was off-putting, thinking his sarcasm was funny - it is not. He should respect that people are there to have a nice meal through good service - if I wanted banter, I would go to the local pub. At what is supposed to be a classy restaurant, his type of banter is unacceptable. Then today, my wife went for lunch with a few other women and again, he was condescending. Let me know when he changes his attitude, and I may go back. Original Review (June 2023): We went there for my sons birthday for lunch and what a great choice! The ceviche was OUTSTANDING. The price was a little high, but not too much. The service was very good as well. We will definitely go again. Parking: I think they are limited to street parking on little side streets. I did not see a dedicated parking area for the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Although not a family restaurant, we had an 8-month old with us and they were very attentive of him and did not complain when I walked around the restaurant and food boutique trying to keep him interested.
The best food in Ottawa! We went last night for a paella which was delicious. We had 2 mojitos which were also exceptional. The chef is an artist and the service was very good!!
The food and service were first class. The noise level can be an issue because of the sound bouncing off the high ceiling. Taking this into consideration, we will return to The Soca Kitchen as it is a great place to dine. Parking: Parking is available on the side streets.
Excellent service and food! Will definitely be going back!
Such a unique place, our favourite just down the street
Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. Food is always great!
Very relaxing and beautiful interior. Makes you want to stay a long time. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! Will definitely go back
This is actually one of my favorite restaurants before and I had bean here for dinner as well as brunch. B ut I had a less than stellar experience when I took Mom there for Mothers Day. I snagged a last minute reservations at 6am for 9am after not finding any spot at this and a couple of other restaurants I checked into at last minutem for Mother Day since I have been a bit busy. Last year, the whole family did Mothers day on Saturday with Mom at Gezellig. I wanted to do brunch here with Mom for a bit so was happy I snagged a cancellation I thought, or they decided to open earlier. When we arrived they told me the reservation was for only 90 minutes and I said I know from the last minute reservation for 4 but I could not get other family member to join us at that early time at short notice. I been there for brunch many times and they had Mothers day listed for their special bunch deals on Facebook with $5 for mimosas. Imagine my surprise when the bill came. I was charged $9.50 for the mimosa, and I think $22-24 for main courses. Mom did not eat as much of the meal as I hoped when I ordered 2 good breakfast dishes and she choose one but found it a little spicier than she liked and I set her up with half of my briased pork and other stuff. They said the specials were not available for Mothers day and that they called reservations yesterday due to that so I think that resulted in some cancellations. Hmm, I was a last minute reservation, so I had not been called the day before so would have appreciated a heads up. If I had been briefed when we arrived, I would had no issue paying different states prices but the server just assumed I should have known Mothers day does not offer deals despite that being listed as a valid date on Facebook and I could not possible received a call day before informing me of the changed in pricing. I was going to let it go but felt a little upset with the cavalier attitude of the server so went and showed them the Facebook event with Mothers day listed. They end up taking some money off I think for the mimosa but really handled poorly. 3 tables were not occupied at all in the time we were there from 9:15 to 10:35 am so I guess some people cancelled or no show. Only 1 server and I think someone at the bar and setting up tables near the end of the time we were there. I think next time with Mom, I would choose a different restaurant with consistent flawless service or nice family run atmosphere, both with excellent food. Parking: Service can be spotty at time
I love the place the food very tasty. Nice environment ,the service very good Well be back soon. Food : 5/5
Very nice atmosphere..the service was very good.
Had a nice brunch here on the weekend. Service was quick and efficient, the food was unique and tasty. I asked for no meat with my meal and they were happy to accommodate. Really cool vibe, and I imagine their patio is gorgeous on sunny days. Free street parking on the side roads.
I did like this spot a lot, buuuuuut it s pretty expensive for what it is. I m not a big fan of paying $22 for a cocktail. Mexican food should never cost $200 for two people. That being said, the restaurant is very nicely put together. It would make a nice venue for a wedding or a party. Staff are nice but there was only one waitress working on the Saturday night we went so things were slow.
Watercress Caesar salad was the highlight. Drinks were so-so. Oysters were very small and above market price, though served with a good assortment of quality condiments. Tacos were really unimpressive, especially for the price - Steak was incredibly chewy to the point of almost being inedible, pork was bland, fish was just ok. Overall, extremely over priced and wouldnt be particularly special at any price.
Great vibe and fantastic cocktails
Everything about this place is wonderful! My partner and I went and did the tasting menu and each dish was delicious. The staff were really nice & overall great atmosphere.
Came here to try the blind tasting menu with my partner and was not disappointed! Very cute hidden restaurant with great ambiance. Our first course was PEI oysters with caviar, followed by watercress salad, fish tacos and eggplant lasagna. For $28/Pp on a Monday night it was a great deal. Would love to come back to try the full menu at some point. Heads up the menu did not disclose how much the beer on tap was but I believe it was $9-10. Since it was a Monday it was a bit quieter with only one person serving. There is parking on the side streets and 3 spots along the road out front
Great brunch! Loved the fried plantains.
A very good charcutier board to order here :P Also went here for the blind tasting and going here again for the all you can eat tacos too :D Great atmosphere and workers are friendly too :) Food
Have been to their establishment many times and have loved their food. Came in for a quick drink to enjoy their incredible Old Fashioned which we have raved about to friends. No seating for the bar which is understandable for the small space, but we were very rudely turned away by a disheveled waiter who looked and acted very unprofessional. Empty tables everywhere which could have been sat for 20 mins to enjoy a drink. Probably won t be returning regardless of how good the food and drinks have been.
Great tacos. Great atmosphere. Great Mojito!
Made a reservation for 7:00 p.m. on Sunday night with their online booking system. Was running a little bit late and tried to call but no one picks up. I cant believe that the only way to talk to the restaurant is through an email. In any event by the time I showed up I was told that the restaurant actually closes at 8:00. Why would you take a reservation at 7:00 when you close at 8:00
By far one of the best breakfasts we have had. Its now a token stop for us on route to Mont Tremblant! Still having dreams of the food
Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and the food authentic!
Great little gem. Oyster bar was good. Fish of the day was spot on.
Really nice restaurant with an amazing selection of food. The pork tacos were really good and the drinks are amazing. Although the food took a while to come out at times but I will be back for more!
Food was really good but we were sat in a corner with a lot of outside air blowing in. It was pretty cold
Looking for brunch and was pleasantly impressed with their steak and eggs. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed delicious Spanish and Latin food for brunch with $5 mimosas and excellent service. A must try in Ottawa!
I recently dined at Soco restaurant and although the decoration was pleasing to the eye, my overall experience was disappointing. Despite making a reservation for five through OpenTable, upon arrival, we were informed that there was no reservation on record. The staff member we encountered was unfriendly and unwelcoming, despite the fact that the restaurant was largely empty. While the food was decent, the dessert fell short of expectations. Additionally, after only 1 hour and 48 minutes, we were asked to vacate our table to accommodate another party, with little regard for our experience as paying customers. When inquiring about the size of a latte, the response from the staff member was dismissive and rude. He said that this is not the Starbucks. Lack of hospitality and poor attitude tarnished what could have been a promising dining experience.
Were torn on how this review should go. Our evening was lovely, that I wont deny. We unfortunately couldnt justify the cost of this meal. No offense to Soca Kitchen. Seafood is expensive. We started with mouth watering half dozen Oysters, complimented with 4 choices of flavor toppings. Yummy! House wine and Socca Ceasar. Lobster & Caracol (Spanish Paella) for dinner. I must say this dish was a flavor packed dish . It had what would seem to account for, maybe a few lobster legs chopped up in the dish with added snails and dollops of garlic, herbs, and spices mixed with lotsof baked rice. Reading the menu, we thought , oh a lobster tail or two. Nope! We finished with Churros and Dulco De Leche Mousse. again, yummy! The cocktail drinks were excellent. I think Socca is good for small groups, and everyone picks a dish and shares. The staff were fantastic and accommodating & we enjoyed the atmosphere of the establishment. Just cant get over the cost. Sorry!
There are no 0 stars c no I give 0 racists attention
The service was amazing and the food was even better. This should be 4.5 stars.
The paella was delicious and the drinks where also good.
Greatly enjoyed this restaurant! Wonderful food and even better service
Came back for anniversary dinner and I am beyond disappointed. It s a Wednesday night and the place it s empty and we got inferior food, the steak on the Latin grill was undercook and it was a workout to eat it, impossible to chew! The tostones or patacones clearly not fresh, they were hard and not warm enough to even pretend to be fresh. The tres leches, more like tres layers of dried coconut! This a very disappointing experience.
My recent visit to Soca left much to be desired, and I feel compelled to share my experience for the benefit of fellow diners. As visitors from out of town, we were eager to try Socas brunch. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by several disappointments. Firstly, the inconsistency in their operating hours was frustrating. Despite multiple attempts to dine during brunch hours, we found the restaurant closed without notice or offering only lunch service. On the day of our visit, we were surprised to discover that brunch was not available, a fact not indicated anywhere on their website or online menu. The initial letdown continued when we encountered an unsympathetic waitress. Her lack of understanding about our situation was apparent, and her demeanor left much to be desired. It was disheartening to feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. The food itself failed to salvage the experience. The patatas bravas were undercooked, and the flavour suggested the use of old frying oil or reheated potatoes. The tacos, while better, were overpriced for what they were, and the plantain sandwich lacked flavor. Despite an interesting concept, the execution fell short, leaving us disappointed. Regrettably, despite our initial enthusiasm and multiple attempts to give Soca a fair chance, the overall experience was underwhelming. Its disheartening when a restaurant with potential fails to meet expectations. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for improvement.
Wonderful birthday dinner with our family of 6. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Highly recommend Soca.
With no extensive background in trying Spanish cousins, our attempt at Soka was not very pleasant. I always read reviews before attending restaurants. Soka was passing the grade with a shiny star in reviews but failed our taste buds. More importantly, it left a hole in our pockets. The taste is OK, not extravagant. However, the aftershock of paying the bill for $300 for two persons definitely stays with you. Portions are tiny, and you still long for satisfaction during your ride home.
Perfect Breakfast Restaurant in Beechwood - excellent professional/friendly service, food delicious, beautiful menu/ambiance. Bravo so impressed!
Beautiful and quiet place. Went for NYE brunch and had $5 mimosas. The little market is absolutely adorable and would 100% go back to browse through it. Different style of breakfast than you would get anywhere else, delicious and large quantity. The sourdough was absolutely amazing!
Great place for fine dining. Lots of selection and the service was friendly and excellent.
Vegetarian options: A nice amount of options Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible
Very very good
Oysters are fresh, ambience is nice, staff is friendly and food is upscale. Nice date spot.
Great place for a date night. We had a great Valentine s Day dinner starting with a dozen oysters with bubbly and then we shared 3 tasty dishes. The food and service were great and the restaurant has an upscale atmosphere. We ll definitely be back.
Went for dinner and this put a some in face after a long day! Octopus Plancha flavors combination with Patatas Bravas and pickled veggies was a perfect combination for dinner. I enjoyed a Fusion Mojito. Great service, great flavors and very nice place. Definitively will go back if I go back to Ottawa!
Amazing spot! Well recommended!
Delightful brunch menu. Variety of drinks & desert option. Clean & bright. Worth the commute.
Great flavors and ambience! A must try spot in Ottawa.
The flavor of the dishes is exceptional. Great way to discover Spanish tapas and enjoy the cocktail menu. The restaurant s decor further enhances the experience.
This was an exceptional meal by any standards never mind Ottawa standards. Fabulous meal in every respect and great value. I will return without hesitation.
We went for lunch. We had a wonderful time. The service was perfect and our tastebuds were treated with scrumptious plates of salads and tapas. It is a great place for a mid-day break.
Such great tasty food! All the dishes are unique and very flavourful. The grilled octopus and pork tacos are very delicious dishes. The staff are amazing, they kept the restaurant open to accommodate our reservation even though they were technically closed at that time. They didn t make us feel bad for being the only people there, just overall great service and very nice staff.
This place is absolutely amazing and so delicious!!! I highly recommend this place. From the tacos, to the plantain sandwiches and oysters! Everything is fresh and very tasty all the time. The services is also ALWAYS amazing. But our FAVORITE dish to eat is the whole fried fish! Its the best fried fish in the city, so crispy and delicious. It comes with aioli and coleslaw and grilled lemons to squeeze onto the fish. Its perfect, and you wont regret it ordering it TRUST ME.
My husband and I ve been at Soca different occasions and it s the perfect place to have a great time. The food is great and this time we tried the blind dinner option and it was really good. Also, service is great with friendly staff.
I recently tried The Soca Kitchen and had a great experience. The mojitos are unique and delicious. The food was delicious. Churros are a must as well! We throughly enjoyed it.
We ate way too quickly to take many photos because our entire meal was delicious. The patatas are my favourite, but the fish of the day was off the charts - melted in your mouth. Well of course be back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available!
We ordered the blind dinner and I m aware it said no alternatives no substitutions, but what is the point of asking us about our dietary restrictions if you re still going to serve us what we are allergic to? I m allergic to hazelnut and clearly said so but they still brought me the one dish with hazelnuts in it. So I couldn t eat it. I could have been offered more of one of the other dishes or the option of no hazelnut sauce on that dish instead. Everything else was delicious. I ll go again but don t recommend the blind tasting if you have allergies. Making exceptions for allergies is something they should consider.
Celebrated a friends birthday with the chefs choice Tapas menu. Service was excellent, food delicious and atmosphere beautiful. A little hidden jem.
For tapas, the portions were generous. The cooking was incredible and the dishes sought after! Family atmosphere.
Great experience at the Glebe location. When drizzle started our group of six were invited inside to the packed restaurant. We appreciated the thought that went into it. The octopus was perfectly cooked and appetizers were delicious.
Terrible service. The manager kept on screaming at his employees which brought down the atmosphere of my romantic dinner. The food was okay at best, not worth the trip.
Food, drinks, value - definitely worth checking out. For those that are adventurous, try the blind tasting dinner.
What a gem - amazing food, impeccable service - we ll definitely be back!
Have been twice so far, and already planning another dinner. We tried a variety of tapas and weren t disappointed by any. Every dish is tasted and appealing to the eye, and service is five stars. Highly recommend.
Wow Im so glad I found this place- a gem. The food was absolutely amazing!! We had the tasting block and loved every bite!
People!! This place is a gem. It is non descript from the front but I can tell you the inside is something to be experienced. Not only is the food and drink amazing but they have an attached store that sells many unique foods in addition to the ingredients they use to prepare sumptuous dishes.
Ive eaten at the Soca Kitchen a few times now, and its amazing! A gorgeous restaurant of share plates, gorgeous drinks, and wonderful service. I love this restaurant so much.
Weve been several times now and have really enjoyed the food each time.
We had a charcuterie(for 2) and the tasting menu- for 3 people with a healthy appetite, we all left feeling very satisfied! Facilities are well maintained, and staff are just lovely. Cocktails are a hit or miss. I ordered two of the tamarind mojito, and the first was absolutely fantastic, with a half rim, perfectly done. The second one came very sweet, full rim, and not very well balanced.
Had a Anniversary brunch here with my spouse. The service was friendly and professional, we waited a little bit longer than I would have liked for the mains, but wow, it was worth the wait. Food quality was very good. Very satisfying with a great diversity of ingredients. We had apps, mimosas, a main for each and a latte. It wasnt the best meal of my life, but it is one I will fondly remember for a long time. Do yourself a favor, try this place with some friends. The ambiance lends itself well to great conversation and friends!
Always an amazing food experience here! Everyone needs to check out this restaurant!
Amazing Food at a affordable price, Amazing atmosphere and Great Serve.
Cant say enough good things about my experience. Good food, good service, and a great atmosphere.
Fabulous restaurant in Ottawa. Had a great brunch!
Love this place.
My date and I had a lovely evening. Staff was super-friendly and soft-spoken, which made it a little difficult to hear them at times over the music, lol. Food was excellent, as was the wine. Id love a larger beer selection; that said, the Fat Tire was very tasty. The restaurant is very tastefully designed and the seats are pretty comfortable. Nice table layout allows for space. Decor is lovely and simple. Well be back for sure! Vegetarian options: The cauliflower steak with its red pepper sauce was delicious! Parking: Street parking available (3hrs between 07:00 and 19:00, free after that). Kid-friendliness: I wouldnt say the menu is super kid-friendly for the average chicken finger eating child, in my opinion.
The food is great!! The welcome and the service is very good :)
Wow !! Super !!
Visited recently. All fine but dont expect to get by just on taco trio (at $25.50) as really more of an appetizer. Lesson learned. Subsequently, ate something more filling at home.
The manager was one of the most Disrespectful persons ive ever met. The food was bland and I tried to have a conversation with such manager and was rude to me and my daughter. Dont go there Food
Vegetarian options: Sandwich Food
the waitresses were super nice and cool. but the guy with the beard at the entrance is a big hypocrite. he talks behind customers backs. if you are black or French-speaking, avoid going there.
Loved my experience there! Service was great and so were the tacos. Recommend for a chill evening in Ottawa.
The waitresses were incredible, the food quite good ( this is an opinion that can change from one person to another ) . On the other hand, there was a bearded gentleman (manager or waiter) who was not at all friendly and seemed a bit racist. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant, especially if you come from an Afro background.
Good food and cocktails in a lovely setting.
Love this restaurant. Excellent food and great relaxed vibe.
We dined in on the patio and the food was excellent as well as the service! We were also very impressed by the portions as in my opinion most restaurants, pubs etc. do not have good value considering the price, portions and quality. Love the market inside as well. Will definitely be back!
Great food and lots of gluten free options. Fresh and flavourful !
Best Liver Pate I have had. The rest of the meal was excellent as well!
Super expensive for portion/quality
Great food and drinks! Fish tacos were fantastic!
Real bad service guys... we called 2 days in a row and no answer. On the website it says no need for reservations but when we get there! No walk in (-_-) makes no sense... so we get back inside aksing if we can get some food to go but the new girl at the counter is asking if we want to dine in or to go (--__--) bye!
Amazing food. We had the Mexican Dinner for 2 as take out. Sooooo much delicious food. Also loved the fact that they do not use plastic containers!!!! Highly recommend!
Was excited to try this place after hearing great reviews but left feeling very disappointed. The cocktail had old limes and was really sour, Carne Amado tacos were very dry/meat tasted old (you could see the dry fibers) and the ceviche was mediocre and incredibly sour. The plantain chips were also stale and neither crispy or moist. Sour, unbalanced and old seems to be common themes. Maybe they didnt have a chef that night? But on the bright side, the one thing we did order that was fresh and tasted good was their watercress salad. Overall ambience is nice and staff was friendly and attentive. Think this place is better suited for social events, drinks and their snack platters, not as a restaurant for a meal.
Delicious food and drinks for dine in or convenient pick up. Also a great spot to hangout with friends on the patio.
I have had takeout from the Soca Kitchen twice. Both times, the delivery was fast and the food excellent. I had the tacos carnitas, guacamole, churros and dulce de leche. All were delicious.
Right upon arrival we were made to wait at the cash so the employees could chat a bit longer. 10 mins later, we were taken care of and we sat outside which was nice. I had the chicken Pabellon. The presentation was okay but the chicken was ultra salty. I complained to the server but nothing was done. At the end of the meal, after waiting for 15 minutes, we had to prompt the server to bring us the bill. I ate everything on my plate but the chicken, yet again nothing was done to compensate. Then the pay machine only offers you 16, 18, 20% or nothing for tip. I chose nothing but left a $5.00 tip in cash, against my better judgment. In a completely unprofessional way, the server overreached to grab the tip before we were even up from our chairs. All this to say I was extremely dissatisfied and will never go back there.
Pre-ordered to take-out. Absolutely amazing. Its our fourth or fifth preselected dinner for two. Always great and one of our favourites in town.
Super delicious! Will definitely be back :)
The chef refused to serve me the potatoes bravas with the sauce on the side because that s not how the dish is served . I have allergies (which is why I needed the modification) and left hungry. I won t be back.
Im highly disappointed with Soca new menu. Weve been a few times at their original location, and loved their food back then. There isnt much to choose, we had the tacos and to be honest, they were very bland and tiny. Not worth the money. Cocktails were also average. Service was alright. When it comes to tipping, you cant personalize, you either accept the pte programmed % or dont tip is what we were told. Sorry Soca, i know times are rough, but other places quality hasnt gone down.
I have finally made some time to visit a restaurant I have been excited to try since I saw them move to their new location on Beechwood. The Soca Kitchen is this little sophisticated restaurant with the flavours of Venezuela and Spain. The simple but elegant decor matches the amazing food and drinks. The staff were so delightful, and attentive. I was very happy with my first experience. I asked the staff to surprise me with their favourite drink and was brought a delicious passion fruit mojito, jealous? I was also very excited to try their beet salad, it was served in wedges topped with pickled onions, toasted walnuts and an amazing balsamic dressing, what great flavours. I was also recommended the Carne Asada (beef) tacos and the Venezuelan braised chicken tacos. I LOVED them, the ingredients were fresh, delicious and well portioned. Little fun fact about The Soca Kitchen, they share space with another restaurant I am eager to try, Plantain Cartel (cant wait to go back). If you are looking for a nice date night or fun ladies night, they are a must try!! #ottawafoodiestalker #supportlocal
Amazing place, service and food. First of all, beautiful space where they also have a small market with gourmet products to go. Second, wonderful service! Went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. Last but not least, the food is fantastic! Everything was delicious. We had the Chef s board for 2, the Octopus plancha and the Dulce de Leche mousse. Definitely our new favourite restaurant. Five stars no doubt.
What a great meal. Filled with delicious mains and tasty treats. The watercress Caesar was an especially delightful surprise. I was not expecting such interesting flavours!
I was so excited to go to this restaurant for the first time since it s a Latino restaurant and I m latina. Unfortunately it was such a bad experiencia I will never come back or recommend it. The owner took our order, one of the waitress brought our appetizer and 40 mnts later still waiting we realized the owner never ordered my food to the kitchen. When he came to our table he was so arrogant and full of himself and said if you want it will take 5 mnts! Like really you will cook an octopus in 5 mnts? No thanks. I ordered the most expensive dish in the menu and he didn t even care. This person was at the phone all the time clearly not paying attention to customers needs. FYI, I had 8oz of overpriced sangria and wasn t even great.! 1 appetizer, 1 beer for $80+ terrible service not worth coming back. I should have gone to an authentic Latino/Taco place.
On a Friday night of September 2 I decided to give this place a try when my girlfriend just started training there. Having a passion for hospitality and food myself, I was interested in testing out a new place that had both exceptional reviews and outstanding promises for future employees. The server who I asked to recommend me a desert seemed to not know the menu very well however provided a good enough customer service for a trainee she was (even though she was inattentive at times). Coconut Tres Leches was good, but not memorable. The moment I finished it my evening went downhill. One of the staff, who I discovered to be a co-owner of The Soca Kitchen after, kept giving me weird looks. Then I was notified that my bill has been taken care of already. When I left the restaurant no one said anything to me, have a good night would be a quite simple nice touch Anyway. It appears that the whole time I was there, the FOH manager was blaming my girlfriend for having a friend waiting for her inside the restaurant, as if I was a distraction and was begging for a free meal for whatever reason . He made unbelievably rude assumptions and did not even listen to other version of what was going on from my girlfriend. I was not perceived nor treated as a proper welcomed customer, and after everything I overheard that night - The Soca Kitchen will be the last place for me to ever visit in Ottawa. I had a desire to try the Spanish kitchen for a while, but after the experience I had I feel ashamed for even coming. It appears that in this restaurant you are unwelcomed if a person you know is on their shift. And I am not even speaking about the toxicity, constant gaslight and the overworking culture this place has among their workers. I don t expect an answer from the owners, because they seem to not care enough about their unsatisfied guests. However, interested customers and future hires - beware.
Ive eaten dinner here twice now and both times had a wonderful experience. Food, drink, service, atmosphere.. everything is top notch! highly recommend!!
The patacones were soooo good. Huge portion that we split in two. Great bright room. Lovely lunch or dinner option. Gracias!
Best oysters ever
By far the best restaurant in Ottawa, the food ans service was amazing like always. Highly recommend this place ! Also highly recommend their cucumber margaritas!!!
Soca is an amazing experience all around - from delicious, innovative dishes to great ambience. Make sure to try the arepas and plantain!
4.5 stars Drinks are amazing. Food was very good. Ambience was relaxing. Service was great. Although costly would recommend for a special night out.
Weve recently discovered the Soca Kitchen and it might be our new favourite date spot. Great food and great service at the Beechwood location.
The food was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and the wine. Loved the decor and ambiance. I plan on going back!
Mu husband and I shared several vegetarian plates and we loved them all ! Everything was fresh and full of flavours. Well definitely go back and highly recommend !
Stale dry and dryer, with sauces tand spices overcompensating for meat texture that is like saw dust. high expectations cause lof $$$
Different spin on brunch with a Spanish twist. Good location, pleasant ambiance/service and nice decor. Great cocktails, well presented charcuterie and cheese board. Love the Manchego cheese but the pickled grapes were not appreciated by all. I personally think they were interesting, salty and definitely sour. It was a nice discovery and I enjoyed them. The Soca Kitchen offered us an interesting menu with fresh ingredients and tasty food. Who orders an entire fried fish for brunch?!? My friend sure did and ate the entire thing. It was simply delicious!
A lovely place with good food and quiet atmosphere
This place is confusing. First they wont let you make reservations but when you come in to get on a waitlist, they wont tell you where you can sit and made a friend go outside and wait in the cold until I went back in. I had to go back in and ask if we could wait inside until a table opened up. The tables were empty but they wouldnt give a table which was confusing. The food was excellent, mojitos were okay. Not worth $14. Then as soon as we were done eating, they were shoving bills in our face and coming by to get payments. They do the default 18% tip minimum screen that a lot of restaurants are doing. Also didnt get a single water refill after our payments. If youre wanting to catch up with friends or coworkers or whatever, look elsewhere, youll feel pushed out. The ambiance and food is amazing, one of the best in Ottawa, presentation and freshness is top notch but hospitality is.. very lacking. The servers are polite and efficient but the way the timing worked made us feel like they were telling us to GTFO.
Wonderful location, great service and delicious food!
Great food and atmosphere. It is a share plates but if you arent use to sharing try it its fun.
Great place. Excellent service and food to die for
