You will have an amazing experience with the food. My meal was well priced, perfectly seasoned, and fresh tasting. The food is prioritized above the decor (which is spartan) and service (very welcoming; not wholly anglophone) - so go in expecting to focus on your belly! All around I am blown away by La Villa Latina!
I would recommend you order to go as the restaurant seems to have acquired a smell. The personnel is very kind and comprenhensive. I ordered beef tacos and they turned out to be 5 mini tortillas with meat and onions. Don't be fooled by the appearance though, the meal is delicious. For those who like spicy food, with the spicy mix provided on the side you'll be in heavens.
Dirty place, bathrooms are filthy with flies, they speak no English at all which makes it hard to ask questions. The food was decently priced and decent quality except the tamarind juice they served had gone bad, when mentioned I didn't get a response, apology or discount or at least deduct the rotting juice off my bill $ 4.00 . My friends saw a rat inside the restaurant running around a few months ago, another time, they had left a bin full of cheese blocks outside of fridge on the floor inside the dinning area. Not sure how they're still open and operating.
Dropped in one random day for takeout and found a great variety of items of the menu (pupusa!!!!!). Ordered the shrimp tacos and the pork and cheese pupusa. Flavour explosion in my mouth, everything was so delicious, down to the curdito. Five little shrimp tacos in corn tortillas don’t look like much but I was SATISFIED 👌🏻 service was super friendly, prices were good, and food came out pretty quickly!
My friend and I went to La Villa Latina. I had the shrimp tacos, which were delicious. We were the only ones there and we had to wait 1 hour before getting our food. It was 1pm on a Friday and the place was empty. They said they had Uber orders to fulfill but still that is a very long wait. We had to ask to get our waters refilled as the waitress would disappear in the back. When we received our bill, they "rounded up our total to the nearest whole number". I asked why they did this and they said they could change it back to the accurate amount with tax if I wanted, to which I replied "Yes, please!". For me to recommend this place, they would have to 100% improve their service and price calculation at checkout.
Place was completely empty, so wasn't sure they were open. I ordered the Yuca and chicharon and it was absolutely perfect and the price was right (12$). It might have been an appetizer, not sure, but it was sufficient for my take-out dinner. Will definitely come again.
Good pupusas and fried plantains satisfied my Salvadoran nostalgia. I would have liked the pupusas to have a bit more filling, though. The prices aren't exactly a bargain, but not an outright scam. The staff were friendly and provided good service, even with limited English. I have been here twice and expect to keep coming back!
The pupusas were alright, not much filling inside. The horchata was way too sweet, wasn’t cold, and didn’t taste like a traditional horchata with grains. The chicharron was bland. The plantains were good and sweet. The chicken tamal was good. The music was blasting when we came in with our family and kids for a 12 p.m. lunch. We had to ask them to turn it down. Not overly impressed.
Excellent attention and exquisite food
Thats lovely :)
Very friendly, attentive and helpful, you can find almost everything, I loved the attitude of the manager
Best Pupusas in Ottawa. If you go there for anything else other than pupusas, you are seriously missing out
The place is terrible, while I was eating a rat crawled over my feet, hair came out during the food and they got upset when I asked them to change my order, and the worst thing is that they sold me a supposed beer for $30dll, without prior notice from the price
Amazing pupusas
At summer place is uncomfortably hot. Couldnt taste the food because there was no one to take our order. We were waiting for a couple of minutes and after feeling the humid heat at the table, we decided to leave. Id recommend to make a full make over to the place. It was dark, hot, looked old and doesnt reflect the joy of latin people as other latin restaurants we visited at the Canada capital.
The food is delicious but the girl who serves is annoying and doesnt serve very well.
Terrible service Total disgust
A YOUNG WOMAN JUST *PASSED OUT* IN THEIR ESTABLISHMENT AND THEY REFUSED TO CALL EMERGENCY SERVICES + ASKED HER TO LEAVE - A LANGUAGE BARRIER MIGHT POSE SOME RELEVANCY IN THIS CASE, HOWEVER, UNACCEPTABLE TO BLATANTLY REFUSE TO CALL EMERGENCY SERVICES. THE POOR WOMAN LEFT, I HOPE SHE IS OK - I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS RESTAURANT DUE TO THIS EGREGIOUSLY MISHANDLED EMERGENCY.
Excellent
The food is very bad. Tamales were old, carne asada was hard a a rock the rich was old not fresh. They charged me for a beer that they never served. However, I did like the pupusas.
A fantastic lunch place. Food was flavourful with just enough spice to make it interesting. Definitely worth going. The only issue is the waitress didnt speak English, but you can use Google translate to get around this.
We had lunch here on a Saturday. Our waitress was lovely, she had limited English, so it helped that my husband is half El Salvadoran, but she was wonderful. Prices were fair, the place had a great atmosphere, the pupusas and soup were really good. They seemed to have a fully stocked bar but said that they were not making mixed drinks, so Im not sure if they have a full liquor license but I was able to order beer. Will definitely return if we are in the area!
First time tried here. Food was less than average taste. However, they said chicken and beef are halal here. Dietary restrictions: Waiter told me that both chicken and beef are halal
A quiet place, not very busy, the food is good, but the place is too dirty, there were dirty dishes on all the tables, and the staff is not very trained.
I recommend the pupusas, they are authentic corn or rice. Its the best thing about the place.
They have all kinds of food
Food is good
I go far too often for lunch and a beer. Amazing soups.. and good pupusas! Food
The pupusas were very good. Ill highly recommend it as a take out place for Hispanic food.
Finally, Pupusas!!!!
The best pupusas in Ottawa.
It is a very dirty restaurant, it smells bad. And I found something very unpleasant in some tacos. The worst Latino restaurant in Ottawa.
Curtido was good that s it
Excelent good and personnel
Little variety in products, ridiculously expensive prices.
The restaurant, dishes and cutlery are not very clean. The food is usually good but tonight the pupusas were stiff and thin.
Quick tip, If your plantains are not ripe DON T serve them. The beans and sour cream served like in plastic containers when you re dining in. Sadly will never support this establishment. Blasting heavy metal to get people out was your only successful accomplishment. Bravo.
Excellent service
Food wasent that good I even found a rat walking around the kitchen it was disgusting.
Pupusas were not good. Frijoles were burned and the corn Masa dough was undercooked. They also did not have horchata. Parking: Parking free after 5pm
Very bad attention and bad service
Food with Latin flavor
As a recommendation, they should give the place a different atmosphere, you dont know if you are in a canteen, a bar, a cafeteria or a restaurant, the food seemed good to me, as for the popusas, the red sauce more or less and the sauerkraut is missing taste, the environment must change it.
I dont recommend at all!!! Dirty place, many flies, dirty utensils and the general cleanliness of the place is very unpleasant!
I love this restaurant
This place has CHEATED me out of my food orders on 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS! 4!! And each time they blame the poor Uber drivers. I went back to them again and again to give them multiple chances and they continued CHEATING ME OUT OF MY ORDERS every time! And when I called them, they couldn t explain themselves and simply blamed the Uber drivers instead of taking accountability for their unethical, deceitful and disgusting actions! My last order was MISSING HALF OF IT and the woman on the phone, Stephanie claimed to have given the order in full to the Uber Driver. When I asked the Uber Driver about it, he was extremely offended and angry that he was being accused of being a thief! And I don t blame him one bit! It s the employees of this restaurant who are thieves, cheats and utter liars! This restaurant needs to be closed down immediately because of the amount of money that they ve taken from their customers. Absolutely DISGUSTING AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOUR! You should be ashamed of yourselves! I plan on calling the Better Business Bureau on them! This type of behaviour is unacceptable and needs to be reported! CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN!!!
The food is good however they Charged to drink cups of water (not bottles, but cups). They Charged 1.50 for each refill of tap water. They also removed the prices for Pupusas, making it à shocked at the end the prices for them. The Flavor of the food was very good, however it felt uncomfortable to pay fir tap water and be shocked at the Prices at the end
They have very good food, I recommend it.
Excellent service
Everything you need and miss from Latin America.
Waitress was extremely rude and un pleasant. didn t bother to smile and greet us, nor would look us in the eyes and speak to us when we asked questions about the menu. she acted like she had something better to do. also food portions are tiny! 30$ for a sopa de pata and it couldn t fill up one person. the lady ruined our mood.
The pozole is delicious. Authentic taste!
The best pupusas in Ottawa
Great Central American food!!! I loved the chicharrones con yuca and the pupusas of course. Excellent prices as well.
My go-to spot for pupusas - the best in the region (though theres only one other rather poor option in Ottawa). The staff is friendly and attentive, though the space may need a bit of a facelift.
The place is super good, the people who serve are super friendly and attentive, perhaps I would recommend that the dishes be a little faster because sometimes they do take a long time to serve, the rest is super
Excellent soup!! Excellent attention
Excellent service and excellent taste in the food
Passing by as a tourist in a car, we said why not encourage our colleagues. I paid $15 for 4 empanadas that the waitress told me were Colombian style. She took them from the freezer and took them to the kitchen to fry them. They are meat. Back at the car I found myself with half moons very hot on the outside and still frozen on the inside. Actually its a potato stuffing with three strands of meat. I went back for a second cooking. Incredible but true. Good luck..... Ill stop there so as not to bother them anymore.
Papusa!!!! Amazing! Literally the only restaurant in Ottawa worth visiting.
Going to eat is surly and they give bad service
What a bad experience in reality, the bad food and all the fun, the time we hope to be long and no longer valid, including no receipt of the food from my husband and extra co-branders for those that we do not care about and eat for a long time (, horrible Such bad experience ,we wait almost a 1 hour and a half for our food we got it incomplete, and at the end the trying to charge us for something we didnt even get, (Such a bad experience, we waited almost an hour and a half for our food we got it incomplete, and in the end we tried to charge us for something that we didnt even get
Nice Latina store, grocery and restaurant. RIA Money Transfer location
Delicious pupusas!
Not kid friendly, plus it is very dirty. And don t even get me started on the lighting. So I didn t even dare to try the food
First time I tried this place a couple weeks ago I loved it so so so much. Their fish tacos is to die for. Today I took the shrimp and Al pastor and I can assure you it s the best thing you ll try in Ottawa. I had never eaten shrimp tacos before. The lady working there is super nice too. I took off 1 start because one time I made an online order and they said it would take 25 min but I got there and it wasn t ready. In total it took an hour for the order to be ready.
It was our first time at this restaurant. We ve had the pupusas and they are delicious. My favourite was cheese and chorizos.
A true Latin village, with quality care and the best level
A-MA-ZING! Its just like being in El Salvador. Everything is flavourful and authentic. The pupusas are great: tasty, well filled, and very fairly priced. The seafood soup was very tasty too. Everything really. Wow!
We waited almost 2 hours to have our food I do not recommend this place!
We ordered pupusas. They looked good but they were put in a Styrofoam container which melted into the food. Having melted Styrofoam into our food is toxic and not something I wanted to eat.
Unfortunately it was a bad experience. We waited an hour and twenty minutes and our food and starter dishes never arrived. We saw how they served people who had arrived after us. We wanted to pay for our drinks to leave but there was no one to receive the money so we had to leave it on the table. The staff are friendly and there is a good atmosphere but we wont be back.
Ordered pupusas, sopa de gallina, carne asada, quesadillas and yuca frita. All so delicious! I also got horchata which I haven t had in so long and made me feel back at home. I highly recommend getting take out and supporting this local business I didn t even take any photos since I was so excited to eat!
I had the shrimp plate (so good) and pupusa (so good). New favourite spot. Yum
I dont know what kind of magic this is but their food is ELITE. I had the fish tacos, empanadas de elote (hit me right in my soul), and the semita de piña and bruh it was straight
Poor, poor, poor. Ordered 3 taco plates (fish, steak, and pork) with high hopes. The meal was dull, flavourless, and overcooked. I would not order again.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Super recommended!!
Great food very clean nice people
Wonderful food!
The best pupusas in Ottawa! Big improvement in menu and quality of dishes since the change of ownership in the past year. This is our go-to place for authentic pupusas!
The pupusas are very delicious, one of the best in town
Top quality, had the pupusas as good as Ive had in Vancouver, not too greasey very good cheese blend pickled cabbage was excellent
Amazing food. Truly Authentic and flavorful.
Kind of bland? Chicken in the chimichanga and the quesadilla weren t even seasoned. The rice was plain and the sauce for the chimichanga tasted like plain tomato sauce. The tamale was soggy. :( The salad and the puspas were good though!
#1 fan!!! The best pupusas in Ottawa are in town!!! 100% recommended
Tried out their enchiladas and they were sooo delicious!! Great flavours and fresh ingredients. Also really loved their salad and pupusas! The jalapeño cheddar one was so so good!!
They were extremely understaffed when we went. Had to wait for a bit for our food to come. But the server was super apologetic and kind. The food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. I ordered the Chorizo tacos and this must be my fave tacos hands down! My husband ordered chimichangas and ate every morsel. It was super good.
Rrrrricas pupusas! Delicious pupusas!
Delicious food. Delicious meals
Best takeout food I ve had in this city, hands down.
excellent
Good food, chill vibes.
Ive only ordered off Skip the Dishes, but everything is delicious.
All the Salvadoran dishes were delicious!
Quaint, clean, great menu, friendly service, excellent prices and delicious!
100% Authentic Pupusas, tamales and empanadas! Try the tamales Pisques :)
This was my second time visiting. Had the nachos and fried fish. It was filling and delicious.
It s a small space, but it s a cute space. The pupusas are amazing and the dishes are huge and great in price. The service is fast and the servers are so friendly.
