Quaint little place

Food was good but expensive, and smaller quantity.

I heard the sushi is great here, but my wife does not like sushi, so weve tried the other meals. I guess it is our fault for not trying the sushi. The last time we ordered, the woman on the phone taking our order asked if we could bring a bag to pick up our order; I thought that was a little odd to say the least.

They are so kind! Everything is fresh and tastes great. They are also very thoughtful <3 Vegetarian options: Can accomodate for vegans and vegetarians. Many vegetarian options for sushi!

The rice is good but some of the fish tastes frozen. Average sushi id say.

Overpriced for the size and taste. Not that flavourful. We ordered edamame and the container came only half-full and unsalted.

I had a very delicious take out dish recently. It was such a nice surprise because all I asked for was one with an egg on top! My husband had his favourite bento box and it was just right as usual.

The good review is for the sushi. I never tried other items on menu

My order from Sushi Me included Wakame (seaweed) salad, a Kamikaze roll and a Volcano roll. All very good, will definitely return for more.

Staff really friendly, fair prices. The food is just amazing, its fresh and very tasty, the aroma is just terrific! One gem in Ottawa, you cant go wrong with this place. The mermaid roll is a must !

Another place hit by covid. As others stated their quality has been affected. I also had to throw out some off salmon that was all skin. Stir fried beef pcs are smaller. Tempura shrimp & mixed veg has always been great. A worse issue when started again. Order was completely burnt I heat from it melted the plastic sauce containers causing the entire bag to be soaked in liquid. When returned with it they caused a scene , berated me & refused a refund. What sane business owner would cause such a confrontation with a loyal diner in front of other customers ? I only succeeded because I was walking out to dispute to Visa.

Food was okay but the service was terrible. I found them pretty rude and also charged me for things I didn t order and chalked it up to miscommunication. From the reviews, it seems this has happened to others too.

Ordered pickup, paid 50$ for 8 tiny pieces of gyoza, 6 incorrect species of sushi in a significantly dissapointing bento box. Soecial orders not followed and even did exactly what not asked. Tiny portions. Most dissapointing +50$ dollars spent on a barely edible meal. Miso soup ice cold. Really unacceptable product for price.

Delicious and beautiful sushi. Seaweed salad was also really good. We ordered on a Friday night and it took about 90min, no problem with that but just to help with when you order!

Im a little sad to write this. Ive been eating at Sushime since moving to Beechwood 8 years ago. Ive always loved it. In the pandemic however, Ive been going less. Mostly because the last time I had gone before today, I had fallen ill on what I assumed to be their sushi. Today I decided to try again for lunch and had a spicy salmon roll. I could only eat half as the fish was falling apart and just felt wrong, I was sick shortly after, spending a few hours on the toilet and now 6 hours removed from the event, Im still nauseous. There need to be more quality control at Sushime before someone gets seriously ill. Im still scoring 3/5 for all the years that Ive enjoyed their food without problems but today I supported them for the last time.

If I could rate them 0 stars I would. I was introduced to this place by a friend a couple of days ago and fell in love with their food. So days after I had called to order but no one answered. I proceeded to call days after that but they still didn t answer. On Friday, I decided to stop by to order and I had called them at 8:00pm knowing their store closed at 9:00pm but no one answered, so I took the bus in the cold weather and went to their store to place an order only for them to be closed 30 minutes in advanced. Instead of being apologetic, the women simply shook their head no to indicate that the store was closed. No apology, no nothing and this is not right for someone to displace themselves just to be turned out without any comment. I signalled at her to come so I could explain to her that that s not right. They kept shaking their head no and I had to stand there in the cold until she finally came over. I had a very rude encounter as she didn t apologize, I explained to her that Ive been calling the phone for the past days and she kept saying well there s nothing I can do about that , I don t know why it wasn t working , I don t know why we re still having this conversation . Even after all that, I asked her if there was another number I could call for next time, she simply replied with no . Being a student, I get comprehend that Covid has had a real toll on small business I simply wanted to support them and she made it practically impossible and was extremely disrespectful towards me. From there, I went to Chilaquiles, another small business place nearby and the instant warm and friendly treatment is something I completely appreciated. I do not recommend this place and would advice people to go nearby to Chilaquiles, they have some amazing Mexican food with lovely service!

The sushi is great value. Good ratio of rice to filling. Solid staff, good prices, nice people and quick service. We went for early lunch. We ordered, ate and paid in 35 minutes. I really like this spot and would argue its one of the better sushi places in town.

Very fast and good service, a wide choice of dishes and they all tasted good. Would recommend.

Good service and great sushi!

Tried their takeout, so I cant comment on service or ambience. The restaurant unfortunately missed the mark on what sushi is supposed to be, which is a Japanese dish of prepared vinegared rice accompanying a variety of ingredients... There was no rice vinegar in any of the rice in my nigiri and maki. Really disappointing because getting the rice right is the essence. Im not sure who is giving 5 star reviews but they need try authentic Japanese food. I do have to give the sushi chef credit in that the proportion of rice to ingredient (fish) is spot on and the technique for rolling maki and preparing nigiri is pretty good; thickness of rice is consistent and cuts are clean. At the end of the day though, if you cant get the rice right then its a fail.

I really liked it. Very thoughtful arrangements and proportion of ingredients. Super friendly and really tasty tamari soy sauce. They were very diligent about the COVID rules which is appreciated. Great prices for the quality.

Great food always fresh

Not great. My water glass came out dirty, and the place was empty on a Saturday night. Really makes you worry about the rest of the experience. The food was just ok.

Food was decent for price but service was super slow and it was clear they prioritized their to-go orders more than their in-house dining guests.

Not as good today as other times. Miso oup was okay. Rainbow roll was bland though. .

Greater fresh food. Strongly recommend.

I would say this is one of the best sushi place in the area. Fresh and not too much rice on it. The restaurant itself is also super clean and lots of parking nearby.

Best Sushi in Ottawa hands down

My new favorite in Ottawa. The price was decent and the portions huge. Very good meat to rice ratio and the meat was fresh.

Great place, comfortable atmosphere, fresh rolls and great selection- staff is very friendly. Not overly expensive but not cheap either.

Love this place for veg sushi. Service is excellent.

Not bad. Its fairly average in terms of taste and quality. What was most annoying was the fact that the price was way more than youd expect for what you get. Prices on the menu arent very clear so be careful.

Great food at reasonable prices. Sometimes we go for the sushi and other times were craving the excellent Bibimbap.

Excellent chicken teriyaki

Dine there last night. VERY terrible experience. Not customer oriented at all. More preoccupied about take out orders than in-house customers. Lousy service and the imposing manager does not care at all. I Was short of sashimi in my boat order. Waitress came back and said Miscalculation but no apologies. Left no tip and told the manager on my wait out that I would never come back. Her reaction was OK... I wish they would close shop instead of treating people like this. Sorry that I can not give zero 0 star...

Decided to visit Sushi Me by recommendation of a friend and SO GLAD I DID. On my way back to the states and so sad that this is so far away because the sushi is so tasty. And... the VOLCANO ROLL is literally the best sushi I ve ever tasted. And I ve eaten a lot of sushi. From the cozy atmosphere with a splash of refreshing green to the friendly owner, this place is a gem. 100% would recommend. Come here. And order the volcano roll.

This is simple decorated, mostly quite and nice place with good sushi and some other offering. It is better to visit this place than some buffet even price will be slightly higher

Had an awesome experience. They have all kinds of sushi and it tastes amazing! The interior looks gorgeous and gave me peaceful vibes to enjoy a pleasant meal. Sweet and fast service, I felt like I was well looked after. This was my Valentines date. 5/5 will go again when I am in the area!

Tried to go tonight around 9:15-9:20 as they are advertised as being open until 10.. unfortunately we found the restaurant closed.

Food is quite good, especially the Sushi. The teriyaki meat dishes are overpowered by the thick pasty gooey teriyaki sauce. Service is often hit and miss - even on very quiet days and times. Always busy doing other things rather than checking on guests and order accuracy. The overall food quality is good

Excellent choices of soup and the sushi is tasty. The soup by itself can be considered a main dish.

An hour wait and the place isnt very busy. On our third kettle of tea, still no food in sight.

Middle-of-the-road sushi joint. Was a tad disappointed because its the closest sushi spot in my neighbourhood (great location) but just sad like the rest of sushi available in Ottawa. Too much rice in their maki and the rolls were unpleasantly warm. The price isnt worth what is offered.

Okay, not great. Stick to the menu items that dont have a fried component (e.g. tempura or tempura bits in a roll) and youll be fine.

Bibimbap yum! Total comfort food in a steaming hot pot. It brings me right back to my year of teaching in S. Korea. The sushi is also wonderful. Friendly staff!

Sashimi was decent. Okonomiyaki was terrible. Most problematic, the sushi menu is misleading. Cooked, fried rolls are included in the sushi section without any indication. We mistakenly ordered two different rolls that were both cooked (for pick-up) never dreaming they would be anything other than raw fish, as one would expect. When we got home, I was disappointed to find both had been battered and fried. I called back to highlight my concerns and suggested the menu should be changed to represent the rolls accurately (who wants their hamachi cooked?) but was told they would not be doing that. If you are the type of person who says you like sushi, but dont eat raw fish this is the place for you. Otherwise, buyer be ware.

Great place for a nice plate of sushi or Bimimbap (Korean hot bowl dish). Service can be spotty but usually when there is a full house. Takeout is pretty effective.

TERRIBLE. Gave us the wrong sushi order and tried to charge us for it. Then, we sat there for twenty minutes waiting for our food and only found out the server had screwed up and hadnt put in the main part of our meal when I asked her flat out whether our order had even been given to the kitchen. AVOID. Its sad too as the food isnt bad, but the service is just god awful. There are so many other places to get good sushi in this city. Wont be back.

This place is ALWAYS a home run! Never had a bad experience to date.

This place is great for sushi and tempura and rice dishes. Went with the kids and everyone found something they liked from the menu.

The sushi itself is not bad at all. The prices are fair. The service however sometimes can be lacking. Takes a while to get your order and often take out takes a very long time from when the order is placed (45 min).
