Restaurant M. Patate in Varennes

My boyfriend introduced me to Monsieur Potato and it has by far become my favorite snack. Really good food and its clean inside. We ate outside and it was great, we will definitely go back next season. Too bad it s not open all year round :(

Mr. Potato Head s potatoes are really good! Crispy and tasty fries (I would like to know their secret), very far from the big soft and greasy fries that we have in so many snack bars. The rest is classic and well executed. Reasonable prices.

Nice place, the food is good quality. The fries are delicious, the little thing that catches the eye is the slow service and the prices a little too high. Otherwise, easy to access with ample free parking at the front and outdoor space for indoor dining.

my father took me there when I was young, and today when I want a really good canteen that s where I take my children! The best cheeze ever and I always steal the cheese from my husbands poutine! You create the atmosphere with the people who accompany you to eat your potato! So if you find that there is not a nice atmosphere if I were you I would change friends Enjoy your food!

First and last time!! Extremely slow and unfriendly service! Blatant error on the return of currency. And what about the prices! $4.35 for a tiny fries! $2.75 plus taxes for a STEAM! Which I decided not to take!

I discovered M Patate at 5 years old in 1977 I now go there once every 3-4 years since I have been in Montreal. It tastes like memory. It tastes like a good franquette. Homemade fries, thinner than other snacks, a succulent sauce and just enough cheese... the hot dogs arent bad either!

Steamed hotdogs at $2.75 are incredibly expensive. There is hardly any cheese in their poutine and the sauce is not very good. The service is excruciatingly slow... I have the impression that this restaurant only survives because it has been established for several years.

The steamed ones are $2.75 but the quality is worth it for at least $3.25. The atmosphere is warm and parking is also free for bicycles. I advise you to take a tour if you are in Varennes. Parking: Very nice asphalt.

$29, 4 hotdogs, 1 fries with sauce, 2 drinks. Cold hotdog, toasted meat, flavorless cabbage, lukewarm pork. This will be the last time we go there. Terrible food and service.

My boyfriend and I ordered for our first time. My boyfriend had hot dogs with cabbage. The cabbage was not marinated and there was a flour crust on its buns. My hot dogs were good. I also had a poutine; no taste. I had to add a lot of salt. The sauce tasted nothing and neither did the fries. We are very disappointed. We wont do it again.

I rarely comment on the internet but this time I had no choice. First experience for me and my partner. As it s always full in the summer, we said to ourselves that this little canteen was a safe bet First mistake! The service is incredibly slow and the staff are zero welcoming. We ordered 4 hot dogs, a fries and a poutine for $35. I think its very expensive to pay for junk food but I told myself that the taste must surely be worth it... Second mistake! I had to have the equivalent of a whole onion in my hot dogs, cut into huge pieces. There is no sauce in the poutine and it tastes absolutely nothing. The cheese is not fresh and it melts in the poutine. They looked like little cubes of reused cheddar. I ate because I was starving but in other circumstances I would have thrown everything in the trash. In short, it s a big no and a huge disappointment. I dont recommend it to anyone.

The cheese in the poutine is not fresh, it was all melted 5 minutes after receiving my order. The sauce is pretty forgettable, very diluted. On the other hand, the fries are absolutely delicious!!! So I have to give a 3 because of the quality of the fries

I was always told to stop at M. Potatos when I had the chance because it was really on the mark. So while passing through Varennes, we stopped for dinner in the afternoon. There were few people. Waiting 30 minutes to receive the order is really long, VERY slow and Im disappointed because according to the reviews I expected better food. Steamed hot dog: ordinary taste, nothing more. A ton of onion that I thought was in it for coleslaw. By the way, the onion cut is exactly the same as the coleslaw...which I also hated. Poutine: good portion, soft fries, especially the sauce is tasteless and in very small quantity. I never add salt to my plate but this time I had to add some so that it tasted something other than potato. Liqueur in fountain: Doesnt taste like water unlike other restaurants . Does not offer ice so does not stay cold for long. I will not return to this place, it is expensive for what you get. 1x number 2: 2 steamed hot dogs, 1 poutine, 1 fountain drink $18. That said, its not worth the detour, nothing beats the ultra-popular restaurant in Longueuil for price, quality and taste!

Big poutine is BIG! The sauce is good, the fresh cheese and the fries are Perfect stop in the middle of a bike ride. Just the view of the train track or the road but oh well. Its a snack potato, not a 4* gourmet restaurant!

With 4 employees I waited 35 minutes before receiving my food. Organization needs to be reviewed, it s completely not productive. Instead of ordering outside we gather a bunch of people inside to order and receive our order. Regular poutine is actually a mini size. The poutine is okay and the hot dogs are very good. The size of the meatballs in the burgers is ridiculous. With a normal burger at home I could make 5 burgers at Monsieur Potatos! Prices are inflated. First and last visit unfortunately.

The staff is courteous and the food is very good. The service is a little slow at times though.

The wait was endless... The staff is disorganized and confused in the kitchen... They process 1 order at a time... We waited over an hour for a simple small order. This is not the Mr. Potato Head of a few years ago!!! The poutine sauce is special and for me, a poutine without a good real cheese curd is not a real poutine...

Best fast food in the region. The employees are super friendly. Despite covid and the restrictions, they organized the space really well so that everyone was safe. I adore!!!

Extremely disappointing, inflated prices for mediocre portions. Literally. The service was good but the quality for what you pay is a real mess. A real tourist trap to avoid.

Should be called Mr. Hot Dog because thats what was best. The little poutine had barely 2-3 tablespoons of cheese, thats when I understood why we are asked for extra cheese when ordering, its ultimately to have a normal regular portion in the end. with an increased price. Its true that the fries are homemade (not frozen) but they had lots of black spots (my mother-in-law calls them potatoes with eyes) at home when I cook I remove these pieces... its is not good. And what about the sauce, there was almost none. Honestly I was very disappointed, very poor value for money, I wont go back there again.

Very long service and very disappointed to have to assemble our poutine ourselves like an Ikea piece of furniture, this is not easy given that we cannot have access to the tables due to Covid. The sauce wasnt great and there were 2 errors in our order. Very disapointed

Very slow service, much too expensive, 2.10 per steamed hot dog... coleslaw leaves something to be desired and the taste of old oil managed to cover the taste of the sauce in the poutine. When it comes to the local canteen, I have rarely been so disappointed. Only positive point, the staff is great.
