Thank you Julie and the rest of the team for making my 23rd birthday so memorable. The service was amazing from everyone working the evening of the 18th. They surprised me with a slice of cake and sang me happy birthday. I ve come many times before but this time was definitely one to remember. Thank you!!

Don t trust any positive review it s all fake. Worst ayce bbq ever. 0 service . Wait for almost 10 mins to have our grill changed. Bad meat quality. 32$ per person for only 4 choice of meat and 2 choice of seafood. Dessert is also limited 1 per guest. Only 2 waiters responsible for more than 10 tables. Automatically applied 12% tip and still asking for more on their pos machine.

Ive been here a couple of times, and this last visit really ruined our time. We got severed 30 minutes after our reservation, and then the male worker continued to rush us to finish, told us 15 minutes before our 2 hour time limit that we had to wrap up. Reservation was for 4:30 we werent served until 5. I dont see how thats logical. He was very visibly irritated. If youre going to give people a time limit, that should have been stated before we were seated. Then they blamed our table for staying over time when another group had a reservation, but the times conflicted regardless of us being there. Shifting blame to your customer who has no control of that is quite crazy. The ladies working were absolutely great. And very friendly, but this experience really took out the joy of coming there.

The miso soup is only water, no seaweed and no tofu, weird. I feel cheated by charged 12% service fee on the bill without knowing, and machine asked for tips when paying by debit card, serve didnt say anything about the 12%, so end up paying lots extra. They are deceiving customers Food

This is the second time going to this location. First time wasn t too bad but this time was horrible. We went for lunch and a lot of the food tasted old/stale. The bean sprout tasted freezer burnt, the salmon tasted fishy, the sushi rice was very hard and some of the meat were discoloured (beef was brown, and the chicken was very slimy). Also, a lot of the seasoning of the meat tasted the same. We were a little disappointed to see only soya sauce for dipping sauce as other kbbq/jbbq have 2-3 sauces for the food. Did appreciate the smaller portion sizes so we could really try everything. We used to be a fan of Chako at the other locations but it s really not the same anymore. The servers are nice and there s plenty of parking available.

Thin slices of beef/pork were dry and lacking flavour. Short ribs were decent. I would probably not return though Kid-friendliness: No coloring paper for kids or anything

I highly recommend this place. From the quality of their food, freshness and exceptional customer service.

Overall food was good.. however, service was so bad! We made reservations came 15 mins before our time, still had to wait about half hour for our table. It also took at least 45 mins to get 2 regular drinks.. don t get me started on how long the food took to come out.

Quite the fun restaurant experience - cooking the food to your own preference, right at the table! Highly recommend the hot sake, and the beef short ribs - also the mango rolls! The service was excellent too - the staff was very friendly, and very attentive - our table was cleared regularly, and they offered to change our grill mid meal. We will definitely be returning with friends!

Yesterday my wife, and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and went to Chako (Vaughan location). From being seated to getting our eat on and wrapping up it was a wonderful experience. What put it over the top was our interaction with Julie, my guess is that she is the senior manager or own of the restaurant. She was very personable and friendly! She asked if we were celebrating anything and when I said our anniversary, she congratuled us and was on her way! 5 minutes late she returned with a delicious slice of chocolate cake equipped with a candle and a couple of her staff and sang to us!!! In closing, I would like to share this beautiful story and highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion you are celebrating. Thank You once again Julie and all the staff that made yesterday very special

We came fairly late but they accepted us and extended our last call so we didnt have to rush to eat. Great food and environment

Have gone a few times, recently for my sons birthday. We had a party of 12 and there was only 3 or 4 floor staff that day so it took forever to get our dishes especially the sushi. We had to follow up multiple times. They charged 18% service charge on 3 split bills. They said it was 18% on the grand totsl and they split it 3 ways they 100000% lied which I did not appreciate. I wish the courtney park location was still open. Better service and honesty.

Came here on a Friday evening with a group of five. Made reservations and still had to wait. Greeted by server to the table and found they are very short of staff. You order from a sheet and then told you can keep ordering yet, when you do they are not available. Called the host over and still was told to wait for the server to order more food. When it was time to pay, they charge you 12% automatically and then want another tip on top of that. How can you do that when the servers are barely around to request more food? Been to the Scarborough location and the service there is amazing. Servers are constantly looking out for you and anticipating your needs like changing the grill. This location was less desirable. Host brought bill and I told him, Id like to finish my dessert first. How rude! Dont think we will be returning. I agree with another poster here that the service is lacking professionalism and tact. Read the room before you shove a bill in front of your customer. Thats just common sense! I would have rated no stars for Service. The food was bland just like another poster wrote. Menu is limited and lacking dessert choices. Go to Koke Teppanyaki and Grill. They are awesome!!!

Went in a group of 5. Server pass the credit card machine without showing us the bill. Apparently the bill charged us 12% tips, but server did not mention anything to us, the machine still ask for tips. Feel scammed, I have never been to any restaurant that would secretly charge tips without verbally inform customers or not showing copy of bill. I would not recommend this location at all.

Came here on Sunday. Wish I had seen the reviews prior to dining here. They charge a 12% service fee which they do not tell you and still ask to tip. I tipped 20% on my total bill, so I paid close to 35% on top of my meal, without knowing. I found out after checking all items on my bill after. Very unethical practice of this restaurant. It absolutely ruined what could have been a good experience dining here.

Was served by older male , wearing green stone necklace . He was so rude , didnt event say thank you for the tip ,The only reason I tipped was because the other waiters were good - young guy , and young lady . This older Asian man didnt even bring us anything we asked for - we would have to flag other waiters - such disgusting service . Also he had an awkward racist conversation with my friend about mainland china vs Taiwan, my friend said she was offended. His service made us loose our appetite for the food . Please avoid going here, it been years since we tried one of the franchises, if you don t want the worst service, they don t want to bring the food you order right away they take a while, and the table next to us arrive after us got their sushi order before us, we had to ask other server when our food will arrived, the service is slow, then the server spilled water cleaning the today across from me almost splashing my dress. Our shrimp and squid never received! They make you write on a paper and u have to write on top of it I guess? The worst service is being ignore, when you are hungry and the dishes you order won t come out and we order only 2 rounds got took over 15 mintues and we had to remind them what we order so we can eat our food. They have a service charge automatic added on your bill of 12% For the price and service not worth the time, not a good experience to encounter. I had to use the washroom after eaten food is not sanitized.

Food is very mediocre. Its like you wont hate it but youll also have this feeling you can get better elsewhere. Also, a huge NO NO was we told the staff it was someones birthday. We didnt ask for a cake mind you, but were brought one anyway and FULLY CHARGED for the piece of cake. Even worse, they didnt give us the discount thats promised for someones birthday. So either a bunch of lies or straight up lack of awareness from a customer service perspective. Honestly I stopped visiting chako because of the lack of service, meat options but today i decided to visit again to see if theres any changes but.. boy I was wrong. definitely won t be returning. I cant blame the servers for the bad service. I know and I can tell that they are under staff. which i totally understand. Theres couple things Id like to share. First off the meat options are getting smaller and smaller the quality is not it too. I understand prices keeps going up but for the price they re charging we should atleast get good quality meat. Secondly the condiments. Ive been to other japanese korean grills spots they have more than 3 options with the same price range. I also ordered some sushi rolls and I think that they are pre made because when i got them they were cold. Overall Im not trying to be mean but the fact that I did not enjoy my food and did not received the service that i was hoping for. Im very disappointed. I dont think we got our moneys worth. Im not trying to say not to visit but take this as a heads up. I hope that this location will take the feedbacks seriously n maybe will be visiting again. MAYBE.

came here with my boyfriend to try something different. the service was AMAZING. we were checked up on every 10 minutes or so by our wonderful and funny waiter, Mark, who kept asking us if we wanted to eat MORE. we were stuffed, honestly worth the price. the menu has a limited variety, but nevertheless good food. i would however stick to the beef and pork, as the fish was not as good as the meat. 10/10 would recommend i would come back just for the amazing service. and once again shout out to my boy Mark, best service EVER.

Deceptive tactics - asked for the bill the server just brought a debit machine at $150 I figured that was the bill and tipped 15% ... asked for the itemized bill and turns out there was a 12% service charge that was not mentioned

After trying out several different Korean and Japanese Bbq spots, had high expectations for this place. Unfortunately, the service was terrible for a Thursday evening. While the food is decent, we did not get to try several items as the servers kept bringing out fewer items than ordered everytime. We had spent over 15 minutes with no food and no one approaching to take our orders. Couple tables around us were also missing their items. After we were done, they collected our plates however made us wait another 15 mins before asking our dessert order, only after we hunted a server down. I would be open to trying this place again but not the same location due to the service. Lastly the mandatory 12% service fee and a request for a tip on top of that feels excessive.

dude this place was so much worse then the others. there was almost no sushi, they got our orders wrong and it was slow. i think it was because we were like teenagers and we werent gonna tip well or smth(we tipped 17%). in general, its over priced for what u get.

We went for the lunch special 2 adults. It took over 1.5 hours all because service. No one checked in for drinks. We constantly had to flag someone down. They didnt even bring out our whole meal. We eventually gave up and cancelled the sushi and dessert. After all that the bill was over 100. I would say a generous value would have been max 70 bux. This was a upsetting experience.

The food was average and the service was awful. Towards the end of our meal, we ordered 10 salmon sushi, but was told it was only one piece per person. This was weird especially since it was all you can eat. The order took more than 20 minutes to arrive, and we had to ask a server 3 separate times before being told that there is no more salmon left. An older man who seemed to be the manager overheard our dissatisfaction and said hell get us some (despite being told there was no more left). I asked him if it was true if the sushi pieces were limited to one per person, and he said no. He said that the orders came in waves, but I told him our sushi orders were limited and didnt come in waves. He interrupted me and said the current problem is now fixed. Though he added a small discount to our bill, his attitude was disrespectful, and did not listen to what I had to say or apologize. Edit: I wanted to come back and remind others that there are other BETTER Chako locations. The one at Vaughan is awful - they are rude, they will rush you, and theyll limit the food you order. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.

Was nice. But not as nice as the other Chako I visited. I think maybe Markham where you can order online and they had tastier meals and a better selection of mocktails. I felt that was limited here.

Dine-in for a birthday celebration, but couldn t share a grill with anyone as I was the only one eating only seafood (halal food only). The staff and our waiter were very understanding and accommodated me with my own grill. Chako remains consistent with their pleasant staff, fast service and great atmosphere. Even the Management is engaging by visiting tables to do temp checks with the customers. SHOUT OUT TO JULIE, ALDEN, MARK, KAREN AND THE REST OF THE STAFF...

Ive been to multiple Korean bbq locations and I must say this location is by far the best. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance and atmosphere. Julie and her staff are so welcoming and always checked in on us to see if we re doing okay. I highly recommend coming to this location.. you won t be disappointed.

Manager is very gracious, approachable and kind. The food is excellent and delicious. We came back and aside from the regular menu we were given the opportunity to try the sirloin steak, buttered garlic shrimp with veggies. The experience is amazing and the food is ecstatic. We were taken care of with the wonderful staff.

I love CHAKOS, especially this location. They were previously in Mississauga and moved to Vaughan. Julie, the Manager, is really accommodating. The staff are very polite and proactive, always asking us if we need anything. We came here to dine in for their dinner all-you-can-eat option and we took a photo of a special dish that isnt on their menu as a gesture of our loyalty. The food, service, and atmosphere are all great.

I ordered 6x bf short ribs it took me over an hour to cook. I tried to turn it up but it wouldnt let you. In asked the lady to see if she could turn it up but I just got a new grill. Thank goodness there was only 2 ppl at the table. If I brought my family here my kids would of starved.

Usually, I love going to Chako at other locations, but this one disappointed me. The grill was not hot enough to cook at the usual rate (it was maxed). After 1 hour, we still hadnt gone through 6 short ribs where normally everyone would be looking at each other to take food. With 2 people and one grill, we were just waiting most of the time, ruining the experience. Never ate so much of the accesory stuff and drinks too because we were just watching the grill. Wont comment on anything else, but the tofu was a little dry compared to other locations.

I d been here for dinner (BBQ All you can eat) on June 15th around 5 p.m. The restaurant was busy but I totally understood that food would take time for a while to be served by the waitress/waiter. My first order took around 5-10 minutes to be served << It s really fast and I enjoyed a lot with the food. After that, I asked for bbq sauce&chilli oil (First time) with the waiter. he suddenly grabbed it for me. About 20 mins later, I wanted to continue my order and asked for chilli oil (second time). I gave the menu order to the waitress then we received only our food order but there wasn t CHILLI OIL at this time. I waited for 5 minutes but the chilli oil still not appears on the table. I asked the waiter for it (third time) but still.. Nobody serve the chilli oil. Then I ask the waitress to bring me a chilli oil for the fourth time, she grabbed it and left it on the table without telling me that she had served. At that moment My girlfriend and I were chatting and didn t know the chilli oil was served already. I asked the waitress again to bring us the chilli oil (fifth time) she was angry and ask me why we keep ordering food just one at the time and walked away to grab a chilli oil. I tried to explain that we didn t see that the chilli oil was served but she didn t stay to listen. We continued eating but she was so RUDE to us while eating 1. Served chilli oil by Sliced it on the table 2. She throw a tray on table and grabbed a bbq sauce from the table without asking. (You can check her behaviour on the CCTV) 3. Asking me to check the bill without telling me the last call. I try my best to stay calm and continue eating but she is the worst waitress I ever met. So, this will be my last time to visit your restaurant. Thank you

I recently had my first dining experience here and was thoroughly impressed. The fresh foods were a standout, with every dish bursting with flavor and high-quality ingredients. The clean environment added to the overall pleasant experience, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place.

My husband and I have been coming to Chako for years. Our first date 20 years ago was at the location in richmondhill. Food service and atmosphere are great. We re here for Father s Day and it s just the same. Highly recommended.

I come to this restaurant every couple of weeks. Usually the service is decent today. It was horrible. I filled out my card and waited. 47 minutes to get food. Took 20 minutes, just to acknowledge my card was filled. Everything I ordered was not delivered they only delivered what they thought I wanted. Majority of the items were missing. It s almost that it was deliberately delayed to avoid over ordering.

They lied the food is halal one worker said it is and another didnt.

Probably the only Chako and KBBQ that had good tasting chicken. Staff were nice and always checking in. Bathrooms could be cleaned more consistently but that s all :).

Atmosphere is nice. Service is absolutely garbage. One of the waiters almost poured water into my full pitcher of sangria when I asked for an empty glass for my water. They need to hire more people, it felt like they were understaffed with competent people. Dessert options could be expanded. Overpriced for the value you get.

Exceptional service received from Julie. We initially had a negative experience during our visit a few months ago and the ONLY reason I didn t leave a bad review is because Julie was able to address our concerns whilst being so understanding, patient, and reasonable. I ve been noticing so much entitlement, attitude, and disregard in the service industry these past few years so gems like Julie are few and far in between and can make all the difference between leaving a 1 star review vs 5! All that aside, food is great, restaurant is clean, location is perfect if you re in the GTA!

Finally had a chance to check out the vaughan location and we had a great time. Food was delicious as always and staff were very friendly. They got their liquor license as well so we were able to try the beers!!

Gratuity was charged for a table of two and our server didnt mention that it was already part of the bill, we noticed it after giving an additional tip. Restaurants normally inform you before hand when gratuity is included. Not happy with the lack of communications.

My brother and I were having a nice catch-up at a restaurant on a Sunday night. The front girl was very friendly and accommodating. However, our pleasant experience was ruined by a person named Mark, who Im not sure was a waiter or the manager. Mark started to rush our table, asking if we wanted our ice cream served or if we wanted the bill. This made us feel uncomfortable and ruined the atmosphere of our night. The situation continued until my brother wanted to eat his ice cream in the car to leave the restaurant. Its worth noting that the restaurant close at 10 pm, but Mark started rushing us at around 9:20 pm. I usually leave restaurants 15 minutes before closing time because I understand that workers are tired, but Marks behavior and attitude were not appreciated.

Went to this place yesterday with some friends. The food was decent - I ve definitely had better BBQ places before. My favourite meat was the bone in short ribs. The service, however, was not great. It took a while for us to receive our order, and once we did, did not have someone come back to take any additional orders from us for a long time. Perhaps they were understaffed, which I could understand, nonetheless this was my experience. The salt to the wound was the fact that they add a 12% service fee to ALL transactions, which they don t tell you at the time of paying. They still have a tip option after applying that service fee, effectively trying to double dip with their customers which I felt was disingenuous of them. This hidden service fee cost combined with not the greatest service is why I am rating this place low. My tip for the restaurant: please let your patrons know that there is a service fee. If you re going to have a service fee, please make sure the service is up to par with the fee.

This is my 2nd Chako location I m trying. It s not worth the money. Went for lunch and it was $38. Selection is limited. Beef ribs were very chewy. I think Korean bbq is just not for me. I m paying $38 to cook for myself and then have an automatic 12% gratuity included. Service was fast initially, but it was not easy to get the servers attention once we wanted to request more meat to cook so of course we waited and got full. TBH it s not worth it for the price.

What did we eat: all sliced meat options, all vegetable options, kimchi, seaweed salad and miso soup. The food quality is rather poor. The beefs were extremely chewy and had poor taste; especially the short rib. The pork was better, but still not good. Ended up becoming sick after the meal. The atmosphere is nice. It is a clean facility, nice interior and has good ventilation (which is important). Acoustically, you can go to the restaurant when busy and still hold a conversation with your table. The staff are kind and good when attending to you. There was some confusion overall on quantity in orders placed, but still a good experience with the staff.

This place is to die for. DELICIOUS is an understatement. My husband and I drive from oakville 2x a month, wish it was closer bc we legit crave the sliced beef. Anyone giving this place under 5 stars is crazy. The staff bust their butts and are very nice. Love this place!!

Everything was great. Food tasted great, good service and great atmosphere but... Me and friends had upset stomachs for a week after eating at Chako. This is the 3rd time a friend of mine has eaten at Chako and he gotten sick all three times from different locations.

From Lipton Tea, to Chapmans ice cream, from the manager with the most apathetic customer service, to asking for a tip on top of 12% automatic service fee that is added. Is this what authentic Asian Japanese grill house is like in Japan? 1. Lipton Tea - Why is this tea even given here? Its the cheapest quality tea bag. Why not have some more authentic Japanese tea? Maybe loose leaf? Or at a very least a tea bag company that is not the cheapest Lipton label possible. 2. Youre in the heart of Vaughan, you have at minimum 3 different facilities that make within 10 minute drive that make delicious ice cream. Including Wasabi, Matcha, Sesami and Miso, why not make a deal with them and offer that instead? To eat the most generic ice cream with a plastic spoon? What is this. 3. Manager - Its no surprise that restaurants are hit hard, and to keep people coming back you need to provide at minimum an OK customer service. Talking on the phone while walking us to the table and taking our order, messing up our order, not knowing the drink menu, not brining the receipt until we had to ask for the 3rd time and walk to the bar to ask for me. 4. 12% added fee - This is cherry on top. Maybe its the norm now, I dont know. But to ask for a tip on top of a 12% service fee is a bit weird. Anyways, I want go back here. I wont recommend this place. There are other great places in Vaughan to visit for $50/meal before drinks.

Incredible menu and quality of meats and fish, with extremely attentive and pleasant service, my new favourite Korean bbq spot for sure can t wait to return.

I was not satisfied with my experience. I was seated across from the kitchen, where it was very loud and a lot of traffic. The service was very slow where we had to call the server multiple times + our orders were forgotten so wed have to ask more than once for things. We were not offered refills or to change our grill so our food was burning.. The server was not attentive and never came to our table. They automatically charge a fee of 12% service charge even if we were only a table of 2... but this explains why they did not care in terms of taking care of us, because they automatically charged a tip. I dont appreciate this because its as if I was forced to tip a certain amount for such minimal customer service. I dont recommend eating here, as my experience was very disappointing for spending over $100...

Should have taken pics of the food. Very overpriced buffet honestly. Also the temperature of the cooking station in front of is not that hot and it takes forever to cook your food. Not very many vegetarian options as well. Very disappointed honestly

We went to celebrate a special occasion on March 1st and absolutely loved the service and food. Julie was incredibly nice and gave us a complementary piece of cake to celebrate Dinner is a bit more expensive than lunch (as is the case for most restaurants) but the food was 10000x better. 10/10 would go back during dinner rush again. Thank you Julie and staff for making my special day even more enjoyable

Updated since my last review. Went from 2 stars to 5 stars. Licensed now so I can enjoy a beer with the short ribs. We bring our own dipping sauce so no big deal. Fast service, amazing short ribs, good prices and friendly staff.

Went for a valentines dinner, place is good and got a complimentary cake today for Valentines

This is hands down the best chako we have been to! Not only is it super clean, you don t walk out smelling of barbecue. The staff are super efficient, friendly and the food options and taste are impeccable! The boneless ribs and sliced lamb were new to us, as we haven t seen them at another chako and love them. Besides that we love the chicken, sliced beef, shrimp and sushi. We highly recommend eating here.
