236 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066, United States
Roomy, family-friendly hangout offering craft beers, American comfort food & TVs airing sports.
Always a great time! Their food is always excellent. I love their seasonal menus and their gluten free options. I also have small children. They love the food as well.
Our waitress did an outstanding job with our +10 group sized table. She was very organized, helpful, and caring! It was disappointing the kitchen forgot about my order, so I had to wait and ended up being the last one to eat. What made up for it was that my meal wasn't cooked in a rush, so it came out amazing.
A friend and I went out for an evening meal at the Wood n Tap in Vernon. We opted to eat in the bar which wasn’t the best choice on this occasion. It was Happy Hour and a couple young men at the bar were very loud and it was unpleasant. They eventually went outside for a while. Our server was a very nice young man who apologized for them. We both ordered bar bites which are four hamburger sliders with cheese and pickle and fries or tator tots and I had a margarita and my dining partner had a glass of wine. We didn’t have a long wait for our food and it started to get a bigger crowd of folks. The food was good and we both enjoyed it. If you want to be able to converse with your table mates you may want to eat in the dining room.
This wood n Tap gets really busy on a Friday evening. The food was good, the service was good, and the drinks were watered down but tasted good.
What an amazing place ! We had corn chowder, apple, pear, baby kale salad and flatbread with spinach and artichoke! Everything was freshly made and tasted very good. Server was nice! Enjoyed our dinner very much on Friday.
Went for Dine in today. Great service though it was not very crowded. Tacos-5/5-loved all the three typed of them- chicken, fish And shrimp Caesar cauliflower flatbread-4/5- Went again only to realize the first time they served the pizza over the bread and not cauliflower crust . And they covered it well. When we went the second time and got the crust it was totally different and made sense that this time it was the correct crust. Madagascar fudge nut brownie-3/5- Brownie was not hot and ice cream was very frozen but taste wise good. Will be visiting more. —————- Ordered take out from here but do want to visit this place soon. The food packaging was good. We ordered the bar bites which was really good along with the fries. Though the fries were soggy bcz of packaging but did taste good. The fish taco was really good and meaty. The hummus platter was also good. Would totally recommend as the food was good and portion was good enough.
I am surprised by the number of gluten free options at the Vernon location. The menu has options for the flatbreads, burgers, sandwiches, and pastas to be made with cauliflower/GF versions. The food is always very good and the staff is friendly. Recommended! It has been a few months since my initial review above. I wanted to come back and just praise this establishment again. As far as I know they aren't really advertising all of their gluten free options but there are SO many and I never feel unwell after eating there. Coming to dinner at Wood-n-Tap doesn't even feel like a consession because I can pick from a wide variety of options. Service has always been fantastic and seems to get better. The remodel looks wonderful as well!
I visited twice last week and enjoyed both meals ! I am Gluten Free and the pasta was delicious as was the cauliflower pizza crust and the brownie too! (Although, I'd prefer no walnuts or at least less)
Food is delicious and consistent burgers meals and very tasty and cooked right and the owners are great people
Having a bartender that can really navigate a crowd is a big win, so A+ there. Our bartender was checking in, reading visual cues, keeping conversations short with other patrons etc. He was clearly a favorite as a patron sitting at a table skipped tipping their server to run a tip to him instead. The regulars are definitely comfortable here. As other reviews have stated, the regulars can be pretty loud and obnoxious and you can pick them out from the crowd real quick. They were working on a side room when we went and I would throw in the suggestion to add a secondary bar there. The less rowdy will stick with who they know at the main bar (ideally) and you can have a solid bar in a dining area. Now onto the food, which isnt bad as far as quality, its quite good, it just has the same issue Wood-N-Tap locations have had for the last 5 years, portions. 5 drinks, 2 apps and an entree and we were staring at $100 tab. We took home none of it, which, for most, is a nod to how good the food was. Comparably it just feels under portioned and always has at every location. We split the nachos, I got a burger, my friend got a Dilla and we had 5 drinks between us, 3 for her 2 for me. Over $100 with tip. Competition wise Wood-N-Tap would face off against a Red Heat, as they tend to have a focused beer selection as well as similar apps. I can go to Red Heat order a very similar selection of food and drinks and still come home with food, and Ill remember when I see that food the next morning how good it was and Ill go back to Red Heat. Because we ate everything at Wood-N-Tap, the entire experience is isolated to just the memory of craft beer, loud patrons and food I remember being good, but I honestly needed to open the menu again to even recall what I ate. The Main Pub would also be a competitor in my eyes and their bill is usually at least $10 under what I would see at Red Heat, and my friend and I take home leftovers food from them as well on that bill. Geographically comparative I can go to Chillis any night of the week, spend $120 with tip, get 3 tall beers a piece, a triple dipper, nachos with chicken, chips and salsa, a quesadilla explosion salad and 2 chicken bacon quesadillas and only completely finish a dilla, the triple dipper and half of an explosion salad before leaving, meaning at the very least, me + 1 are looking at more beer and at least an extra app a piece for less than $20 more. 99 down the road will give you a similar payout, but probably at $110 total with tip. Happy hour at 99 Ive spent as little as $80 pre-tip with 4 beers a piece with my friend and 2 apps to take home + leftovers. Point being, fix the portion size. I want to feel like Im getting a deal not just eating good food. That experience can be traded off with too many other local bars with better atmospheres.
Great place Great staff Friendly local denizens Food : 5/5
Wow Amazing food and amazing service Food
Staff is clueless, waited 20 minutes for someone to clean a table for us then they gave it to someone that just walked in while we were standing and waiting . There were no more tables so they told us we were SOL. Bad chain, bad staff, spend your money somewhere better
Nice atmosphere and menu, good seasonal cocktails too and the happy hour is a great deal!
My first night at Wood-n-Tap went very well so my second day we decided to go back to wood-n-tap So I order a drink and Im sitting with my back against the wall looking straight at the bar. I see the waitress that took our order stick a straw in my drink and taste my drink and then came over to my table to give it to me. So I asked here did you just stick a straw in my drink. She says yes we do that here. OMG I told her Im confused nobody does that at know times!! So she put the drink on the table so a couple of moments went by and a lady came over with a new drink for me. Then our waitress walked around with a attitude like I done something to her SMFH People pay attention to what these restaurants worker are done at all times..
They are in the process of renovations. I cant wait to see it when they are finished. Aside from that the food was still great and the service was outstanding
Great aps and cocktails
A little slow service considering it was not that busy.
Great food and atmosphere. Lighting is perfect for setting a pleasant tone to your meal, and they offer outside seating if weather permits. Staff are polite and appropriately attentive. Excellent choice for lunch or dinner. Not sure what the night life looks like here, but this establishment is perfect for the above mentioned time frames.
I been coming here once a month normal sit in dine in but decided to sit at the Tuesday Aug 27th. We sat down didnt really greet us right away she was busy that fine. Then I order my drink . My date wanted to see the menu before to figure what she wanted. Then someone walks in who she knows greeted them right away tells us to move are seat to seat them at the car then the seat where she had us move to wad wobbly and any time u move it rocks . Also there was less bar space my date said there less room here plays it off o people eat there all the time. So I go to move to a table at thr Bar then the bar tender said Im not making ur drink now that not my table. I spoke to the manger working I told him i leaving. Told him my problems he told me he would make me the drinks personally if we stayed he put us in dine in. Craig was good waiter food good like always. Never had problem here. But someone who working should not play Favorites and tell people to move. The people did offer to go sit some where else but she insisted on making us move and making us have a unpleasant experience. So as long as she is working I wont ever go back. And I always love to get the Philly egg rolls during the fall/ winter menu. The other bar tender the guy always good to work. I come here as I enjoy the food should be treated fairly. As I a business owner my self. Thats saying someone came in at 11am then someone comes in at 11 15 I start doing a service to the 11am car and then pull it out od the bay do the 11 15 service first . Its first come first service not move us and take care of them first . So unfortunately due to the bar tender playing Favorites I wont be back. (The manger tried to make it right did what he promised. CRAIG was good server and made sure we was taken care of. The food runners was nice helpful like they always are) My tabs are always over $100 plus I also tip well as I know server relay on tips. Never take it out on them if food was bad as they did not cook it. I treat eveyone fair I still tip craig 30% as he was not at fault for the bartender most people would have taken it out. So I try to be good person.
What a.dreary place.to visit. Many other sister restaurants. Dark 24/7. Come on WT!
They have awesome food they are very polite clean respectful understanding and helpful Parking: Upper and lower parking lots with hadicap accessibility Kid-friendliness: Children friendly side and adult bar area Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
It feels like the people who work here do not give a **** about to-go orders, and/or unless you are tipping(for takeout? Nah), they will just let your order collect dust in the back. I really like their food, but the flippant attitudes of the staff is a bit off putting. The chili is bomb though.
Food is slightly expensive for what it is. Otherwise good. Wide selection.
My Cobb salad was good but bacon was chewy. My husband always likes the Buffalo chicken wrap.
Filet strips were excellent, Taylor was super , loved it !!
Average, food was sub par borderline burned. Wouldnt go back
Amazing food and over the top hospitality never had such a good time a a restaurant
Great Food Service Was Good Not Great But Good
We liked the burger but dont recommend the pasta.
There hasnt been much change to this place. Its not a bad thing, its not a great thing. It just is what it is.It is wooden tap Its great for you if you like dim lighted areas I believe it would be great for Personal one on one dates They also have a great big bar which is awesome I dont come often, but every time that I have been there, its been the same clean cut Parking: Massively big parking lot.Easy to access with two entrances and exists Anytime you go there, you will find parking
Attentive, upbeat, chill
Ate here multiple times while staying in the area, staff was very welcoming and all the food we had was great
Very good wait staff!
Taco Tuesday was great. Service great.
Delicious and very comfortable to eat outside
Great bison sliders!
Love this place, great variety and quality. Best place in the area by far, puts something like Anthony s pizza down the street to shame!
The food was incredible! To the Bison bites are phenomenal! The service was top notch. The interior of the place is a bit dark for my taste, but overall I recommend going there. My next trip to Connecticut, Ill be going again.
Our server was GREAT!!
Had flatbread, great choice!
Great restaurant with good vibes and friendly service. Their burgers are very good.
Waited 15 mins and our waiter never showed up. We left.
Asked about specials said there wasn t any specials, I doubt that
Excellent food!!
Great food and great staff
My boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes at the bar. It was a half empty bar, we watched the bartender serve 2 people who came in after us. I walked over and told her that we had been waiting for 15 minutes. Instead of customer service 101 and apologizing she rudely cut me off and said she s talking to someone else. I ve been coming to this location for years and have never seen or experienced a more rude employee snap at a customer, and to come in on a pretty empty night and be treated like trash was ridiculous.
Good overall food l like the bourbon steak and the blackened chicken salad and the parm fries miss the Asian ribs tho and the wings a little meh! Polite and courteous staff
We made sure to book a reservation as we ve seen how busy it is when driving past yet when we arrived it was very disappointing we were taken through to a back room where the server put our menus on a table for 12 ( we were a party of 2) and walked away, we moved to a smaller table and sat down. About 10 minutes later the party of 12 arrived to their table and within a couple of minutes they were being served and asked for their order. We were not seen to once in the whole 20 minutes we were waiting, in the end we didn t see a single server so just left. I m super disappointed as I am here on vacation from the UK and had this place on my list of restaurants to visit
Came here with my girlfriend just for a quick stop for food, I m a sous chef at a local brewery, so if I go out and spend money on food I just want it to be done atleast right. Sent back a medium well burger, was supposed to be medium rare. It came back the same temperature again, I ended up just eating the dry hockey puck. Probably won t come back, waitress was nice though!
Fun place to meet friends and hang for a while!
Tappy hour is decent
Best steak around Manchester ct.also has take out
I came here for my birthday. No water or anything was offered. Noticing we were the only colored people out waitress was already giving us an old energy. She brought the first drinks out I then proceeded to ask could we order food madam waitress , stuck her finger in my face and saying NOT RIGHT NOW and left before I answered I was perplexed, I then asked for the manager It took 2 asks and 15 minutes later The manager was super nice but Janice/ Janet . Nope
Great place had a fantastic meal with family be back someday
Awesome happy hour.
The waiter was rude I asked twice for water with our drinks and never got it . Was also rude when I asked what was on tap and he said too read the TV screen, which was rotating to different menu items
Food is good and service was great accept for the wait time on the food
Food was great. Service a bit slow but wouldnt stop me from eating here again.
My first experience. We sat in the bar. It was very noisy, but the food and the service were excellent
Reliably good eats and excellent service. Sometimes a little too loud for me during busy times. Vegetarian options: Not a huge selection, but what is offered is fresh and yummy!
Went there on April 4th, the place was empty, me and my girlfriend waited 10 or 15 minutes, no service and nobody said anything, we just left and went to another establishment, a disappointment for sure!
Food was average. However, the service and ambiance were great.
We just moved here from Portland so we are exploring new restaurants. This restaurant will be on our go back soon list. My salmon was done perfectly, risotto and asparagus were perfect. My family enjoyed the atmosphere and their meal as well. ie a burger and rib roast sandwich.
Love the Blackened Marina Sandwich. I mix up the sides depending on my mood: tots, fries, sweet potato fries. All excellent.
I love this place! The food, the people, the atmosphere... its a total package!!!
Place was dead and service from Kayla was terrible. Salad was good but portions were small. Most likely wont be back due to the lack of service.
It was great. I love when you order a burger rare and it comes rare.
It was ok
Had dinner at the bar and a fantastic experience! I was promptly greeted in a pleasant and positive way by Amy. She was able to efficiently help me decide on a beer (Thimble Island Vanilla Coffee Stout) which tasted great. I needed a few minutes to decide what my dinner order would be. She gave me the perfect amount of time before she came back to take my order (this perfect timing and great energy turned out to be a theme of my experience). I opted to get the dirty chicken sandwich with fries. She then asked if I would like tomato, and also said that she adds pepper jack cheese which sounded good. I guess it normally doesnt come with either. I happily agreed. She smiled as she turned to put in my order. My food came out quickly and hot. This is easily the best chicken sandwich Ive had and Im so glad that Amy suggested those additions! The tomato helps to balance the heat of the rub/seasoning, and the cheese adds the one perfect addition to the flavor profile that I would have missed out on otherwise. The fries were done just right as was the portion. Periodically, Amy stopped over to check on me with good timing (never when I had food in my mouth). I was noticing that she was equally as attentive to the other patrons, which speaks to her keen sense of observation and timing... a skill that is often lacking from wait staff. My whole experience was great and I will definitely be back! Ive always liked Wood-n-Tap, but this individual needs to be recognized for her exemplary service. For those who havent been, I highly recommend Wood-n-Tap for great food, moderate prices and fantastic service. Thanks again, Amy!
The Alfredo dish was quite good!
Service was awesome! The chop house steak salad was to die for. Many food and drinks items to choose from. Definitely a great spot.
In the mail was fine but the restaurant does not have a lot of atmosphere. Outdoor eating duringthe summer The summer could be very nice if you have some good foliage in there Parking: Vernon Connecticut
Not sure what happened but the menu was not what I remembered and the chicken was rubbery. The beer and service were on point and its a crying shame the food was lackluster.
Great food, relaxed environment and very friendly staff!
My little nephew... he only 10 years old....
Attentive service, amazingly only a 10 minute wait for a table on a sat night! Very happy with good & portions. Chowder has a lot of flavor.
Spent..3 hours there... When our food came we looked high and low for silverware..... When they finally brought it 1 setup was missing a fork.. the waitresses was clueless .. had to be high or just naturally oblivious... the manager was the same.. thats why the help is that way. Been to the Farmington location.. same thing.. yet the one on Newington is waaaayyyyy better. Ordered Bourbon sirloin med rare... Wasnt red anywhere on it.... Sad. $30 for dry meat.. should have ordered shoes....
Don t waste your time or money. Ribs were way overrated. Only flavor was in the sauce. Sweet potato fries were good. Coleslaw tasted like straight vinegar. The Shrimp and asparagus Alfredo was lacking Alfredo and asparagus. Very dry. Shrimp like rubber from being overcooked. Calamari way overcooked and the put it on a pile of shredded soggy lettuce. Driving no s we re the weakest we ve ever had. Both tables around us complaining also. Our waitress started out good but then disappeared. Table next to us had to go find her to pay. We should have known not to go in when it was a Saturday night and very few people. The hostess was nice but all the food stopped there.
Great place
Back after several years. It was a good experience and will be back. The food was very good today, service too! Food
I got the fish n chips. Wasnt impressed. Not sure what type of fish they use but it had a weird flavor. And it was just one peice. Wife order the medallions and one was cooked medium and other was cooked with no pink at all. I wanted parmesan fries. Couldnt taste the parmesan. Service was fine. Also wasnt that busy in the restaurant so I would think the food would have been better.
Got a cheese burger. It was just ok, not great.
We ordered take out. Not our first time. The ribs were so burnt they were uneatable. I should have taken them back. They would never serve those to people if they were eating in. I got the Rueben egg rolls mostly saurkraut. Tablespoon of dressing. Wont order take out again.
I was so shocked when I got my food. They completely forgot the cheese bites. The salad with chicken had BARELY any chicken and the salad was mostly lettuce. They are SO overpriced. Even though it was pretty horrible, the steak was a BIG highlight of my meal. The steak was super tasty
Staff lies and try to cover there mistakes and than have you wait an extra 90 min for order and the whole time say it will be out in a few mins. I understand things happen but no need to lie and give attitude to customers when they ask whats taking so long
As a staff, 16 of us went out for lunch today and it was delicious. Our waitress was wonderful! Thank you.
Excellent service!!
place was okay. not the best wood tap.
Friendly staff and excellent food! Wonderful bartender! I highly recommend the expresso martini during happy hour! Its next level delicious
Was the first to arrive and waited 15 minutes on a Saturday at 11a for the bartender to finish whatever she was doing. The server came up and said shed be right with me, she never came, never said hi, nothing. I left. Terrible service from this young generation
Super
Nice place. Happy hour was busy. Full selection of beers. Food was reasonably priced and served warm and tasty.
It was dark inside. Tables not clean. Server gave us stretched plates. I ask for a change she never came back. The she drop off drinks n never check in on us. Wings hard and salt. Crab dip yuck... alcohol week.
Absolutely disgusted with the service we received here. I am a disabled veteran with back problems and I asked to sit at a booth because their chairs have no back pad so it s uncomfortable we ll some 17 year old girl who is running the front host booth forces us to move to a table all because I needed a high chair as I explained it s not comfortable for me all she says was sorry, no help at all. I recommend staying away from this place all together. They are rude and not willing to accommodate. She claims it s a fire hazard and as a former volunteer fire fighter I know that is absolutely not the case.
Great place for a meal whether you are a single, couple, or family. Food is plentiful and delicious. Only wish they had told us the lemonades did not have free refills.
Great atmosphere, great service
Good food and great wait staff but a little to dark for my taste
Oh yeah. I m sure you will thank your good decision making skills later.
Overall, the menu was good, but they could have added more vegetarian options. Sampler Margarita was ok
Be careful , if you have an allergy , they cross contaminate even if you notify there are allergies.
Service- once we were given our drinks we werent checked on for 30 minutes. Food- worst burger Ive ever had. I ordered the bison burger, which is the most expensive on the menu. This thing had to be frozen, tasted like a hockey puck. Burger King and McDonalds are better tasting. Wont be coming back here
Went to bar. Good food and drinks. Sports on tvs. Very busy.
Not sure what all the hype is about this local chain. Been to a couple different ones in the area. Same thing. Had some apps, which were priced a little high. The apps were just OK. Food : 3/5
Ive been here quite a few times and I have a problem not getting the mac and cheese. Its got a little kick to it which is nice and theres a huge portion for how much you pay for it. The service is pretty good depending on where you sit. And the atmosphere is always good.
What can I say that hasn t been said before, this place is 10/10 amazing. The place is so clean and nice, everyone who works there is excellent from the girls up front who great you and sit you, the bartenders, the servers, and most importantly the amazing chefs in the back making magical meals every time. Anyone in the area or not in the area, take a ride down. You won t be disappointed and I have to recommend the bison burgers
meh
Great food and service.
Quality of food went down significantly since last year. Meals were both undercooked and over cooked
Good place has great food it can be crowded on weekends. So get there early. Nice staff
Very friendly, great staff, great meals
Really starting to show that they are a franchise. Food and service is mediocre.
Server was very nice and efficient. Food was delicious!
Great prices,good food.
Very nice staff and attentive Hard to choose menu You got to try the Lamb Harrisa burger Never saw that on a menu before and it was delicious Food : 5/5 |
I loved the food here. I gave it a try after going yrs ago and not being happy with the menu. They have really upgraded their menu and the quality of the food. Left nothing to want. I was very satisfied.
Good food, fast and friendly service. The bison burger and clam chowder were excellent.
Food was excellent. They were really busy and seemed to be short on staff. Would definitely go back again if in the area.
So It was my 40th Birthday weekend. We were driving home from Boston to Brooklyn and decided to stop here for dinner as the menu looked good. Nothing special inside but it was by far on of the best meals Ive ever had. Bourbon sirloin but their loaded potatoes are out of this world. Kudos
To dark
The place is packed on Saturday night, but the menu choices are rather limited. It would be good to have more vegetable and fish dishes.
Vernon location is all brown, dark, and depressing. It FEELS dirty yet is probably clean. Food is great but will choose another location. West Springfield is the best I ve been to.
Generally good experience. Service was friendly, but a little inattentive. Didnt care for my Caesar salad coming out together with my entree, though the salad was good. The only significant miss was my margarita pizza. Not good - and really not a margarita pizza. No red sauce at all on it. And loaded with mozzarella cheese - like a regular cheese pizza with extra cheese and no sauce on a flat bread. Avoid it until they figure out what a margarita pizza is. Our other two meals were food.
Every time I travel to Connecticut to visit my fiancés family, its a must for me to stop in at Wood-n-Tap. Both the Vernon and Farmington locations are phenomenal. I personally get excited over their seasonal food and drink menus. Ive been visiting both locations since I was first introduced to them 6 years ago and will continue to do so in the future.
Food was good.
I ve always loved wood n tap for many reasons & recently they added another reason to that list. A couple of days ago I had ordered a steak salad & sweet potato fries from them through Uber eats while I was at work. When it was delivered to me, the restaurant had accidentally given me someone else s order, so I called them & explained what had happened. They offered to remake my food & I could come pick it up at no extra cost, but the only thing was that I wasn t able to come pick it up because I was at work. When I told them this, a worker spoke with a manager & they offered to have someone from the restaurant deliver it to me! This was so kind & they also ended up including a free app coupon, gift certificate & two cookies. They went above & beyond, I highly recommend wood n tap to anyone who enjoys great drinks, food & service!!
