Food was amazing, best in town by far.

Food is amazing but a little expensive for the portions. Went in to pick up, paid by credit card and there was a prompt for a tip and the options started at 12%!!! On my $100 order that s $12 to come in and pick up food, NOT IMPRESSED!!! I will look for another place to get my Chinese food.

Was travelling around B.C. and got hungry. We ordered the family meal for 4, 10/10 will come back. Portions were so big and was very satisfied will the service.

Normally goldencrown is our go to. But they seem to have change how they do their food. Sweet sorr chicken breading was diffrent...made them hard. The chow mein was absaloutly flavour less... the chop suey was DRENCHED in soy thats all i could taste....and the everything eles....blan af. We will be looking for a new chinese food place sadly :( this was our last shot with them. Last 3 times we have ordered from them have been very poor quality

My favourite place for Chinese food in Vernon. I usually get take out but when I ve eaten in it is even better. I used to get tempted by the other places with their all you can eat but in this time with basically none of that this is just obviously the best place to go for Chinese food.

Extremely disappointed with the quantity and quality of the combo of 4 plate, you get very little of your desired food item and it was dry, not much sauce on the sweet and sour pork, very little pork . The almond chicken was dry and cold , I dont know how to describe the beef chow mein, their wasnt enough in the one small container that it all came in to feed a child.. It was all cold , I have had Chinese food from one side of this country to the other and this is the worst I seen...

Ordered takeout. Everything ran smooth. In and out at quoted time. 1st time eating their food. I was pleasantly surprised. Being tucked away in a very quiet part of downtown Ive always forgotten it was there. Glad I tried it.

Mu husband and I moved to Vernon a year ago and have been dying to find a Chinese restaurant! We tried a few places and they were awful and just turned us away from trying anywhere new. Finally we came across Golden Crown and ordered take-out for dinner and my goodness, it has restored out faith in good Chinese food, thank you!! The food was delicious, hot and packed! We ordered Dinner for 3 and we have tons of left overs. This will be our go to restaurant from now on. Delicious food and amazing service.

Golden crown has been a favourite of our families for many many years and the new owners have revamped it to its original greatness! We ordered Chinese takeout and drove home to Sorrento after, the food was still hot and as delicious as if they just set it on the table in front of us. Best Chinese in the okanagan!

The food is freshly made to order. If u have dietary concerns they have, in my experience, made small changes. Great portions and friendly service. Restaurant is very clean !

The absolute best Chinese in town. I highly recommend the Ginger Beef, Lemon Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Beef Broccoli and Wonton Soup. I wish they had a buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. Plus they have a wonton soup on special everyday. Great service also! We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. This place is a must try. They also have combination plates for those eating for one to two people. Parking: Free parking after 6pm, 7 days a week. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp on the inside to get to their other higher up dinning.

Best Chinese food in Vernon!

We phoned at 3:50pm on Christmas Eve to have dinner early and were given a time if 6:50pm!! We said ok and came at 6:35pm where they said 15 more mins. We waited 15 more and then another 20 mins, 20 mins past when it was supposed to be ready. Waiting over 3.5 hours for 2 small combos is unacceptable short staffed or not. No apology for the wait either.

I ordered x2 4 meals combo, 1 house special rice, 1 sweet n sour pork. The vegetables were raw, all meat overcooked, minimal stuffed spring rolls, the pork was candied and hard. The rice is dry with barely anything in it. I am unsure why some rave so hard with this place. Definitely maybe a little bit of a miss step there. I am glad I asked for packets. The serving sizes are smaller as well. $30 for large wor o wonton soup? No thank you. Each dish rounds you $18 to $25, very disappointing. If you go through skip, you get a small portion refunded on a $86 order.

Absolute best Chinese food in Vernon. Ive been eating here since I was a child and its just as delicious since the new owners took over. Staff are always polite and pick up orders are a breeze.

Ordered 3 piece combos thru Skip. Normally the food is good, but this time the almond chicken was dried out, hard as a rock!! Impossible to eat. Guess they had to get rid of it somehow. Highly disappointing. Given the reviews it seems to be a common practice to give take-out customers inferior food that should have be thrown out. Shame!!!!

I placed an order for delivery, and it had a missed item in my delivery order, I called in to mention that something I ordered didnt come, and the restaurant INSTANTLY sent out my order again. Absolutely GREAT service over the phone the staff was so kind, and the food itself tasted great! Such good flavour. Will absolutely order again from Golden Crown!!

I order take out from Golden Crown a few times a year, on special occasions. Tonight was, once again, exceptional food. I love the food here, the spicy and traditional dishes are done to perfection...and arrived piping hot!! The portions are huge, a great value. A 12 out of 10 in my books, well done Golden Crown !!

Big portions, tasty, quiet

Ordered salt and pepper squid it wasnt fully cooked and obviously was frozen prior to. The portions are literally half the size of portions in restaurants in Kelowna maybe even a third. And each dish at least $2 more also. It is the same restaurant You have a long hallway to the main area. And i did not receive a receipt.

Our normal Chinese restaurant was unfortunately closed so we decided to Order from here yesterday . And it wasn t good at all. The pork fried rice wasn t even fried and tasted chalky and bland The chow mein noodles were so greasy The wonton broth was pretty flavourless and the dumplings were gross. The spring roll were store bought and were doughy inside. We ordered more but I think you get where this is going. I d say it s probably the worst we ve had in Vernon the mall food court Chinese is better to be honest.

Fantastic dry garlic pork! Sesame chicken was good. The chow mein is kind of lacking if you ask me.. its mostly just a bunch of dry noodles. Took a star off for that. Otherwise would order again, maybe just not the chow mein next time.

This is the go to place for Chinese food in Vernon. The prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes but the quality is amazing. Weve never been disappointed.

I ordered from here several years ago and it was so bad I actually took my food back the next day and got a refund. Recently saw it was under new management so thought I d give it another try. Sorry to say it s still FAR off the mark from Temptasians, Rice Box, and Golden Palace. Gotta assume that anyone that gave this place a decent rating has never eaten at the other 3 places mentioned.

Ive lived in East Van, Ive been on a trip to Beijing, and Golden Crown is easily the best Chinese food I have ever had. I did find it a little odd one of the employees was wearing a face mask that was clearly mesh or lace, but the food was phenomenal. Ive only been able to go for takeout or delivery through Skip the Dishes but the 3 and 4 piece combo for one is reasonably priced and the helpings are HUGE.

We were hoping for a bigger portion for our spring rolls and noodles. Overall, its on par with the other Chinese restaurants in town. Food tastes great. We did takeout last week. Very covid friendly setup for pickup for takeout. It is always consistent quality. I recommend this restaurant.

Wife loves Chinese and gives them full marks. Happy with the dumplings.

Dry chow mein noodles that had an odd taste, cant describe it. Chicken that didnt taste like chicken. Chewy beef. Spring rolls were dry, funny taste, no plum sauce included. Chop suey had very little sauce. All in all, a very disappointing meal. Will not return. Felt ill all night.

I was out visiting my friend in Coldstream a few weeks ago, and my last night there we decided to order takeout from this restaurant. I have rarely been more disappointed. We ordered ginger beef, and it was a soggy mess, complete mush, and much too sweet. The chicken-fried rice was marginal, made with dry old chicken and frozen mixed vegetables. And so incredibly bland, ugh. The almond gai ding was also bland, with the same dry old chicken and sad vegetables. I dont mind paying a higher price for good food, but this restaurant serves up a very disappointing meal. Honestly, Id be ashamed if something this awful came out of my kitchen.

The food is so awesome the owners are really great I was so impressed when she the owner came up and asked how was the wonton soup and explained how her husband makes it and our young waitress was so great and had the most amazing long finger nails thanks for the great night

Didn t even get to order because they were closed. Says on their website they are open on holidays but today is a stat holiday and they are not open which I can understand being closed on a stat holiday but they also did not put anywhere that they are closed today. I called several times with no answer, I texted the number it says on their website to order and I did not hear anything back. I checked their Facebook page and it does not say they re closed.

We came here for my Aunts 80th birthday lunch. The food was delicious. One of the best chinese food I have had in a long time. The restaurant was clean and the owners were so nice and friendly. We will definitely come back when we are in town.

We ordered take out dinner on New Years Eve for 27 people. The food was cooked on time, fresh, warm and delicious. The owners are friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile for customers. We have tried all the other Chinese restaurants in Vernon and this is definitely the best! A great addition to the dining scene in this area.

we always went to the golden crown the food was hot and if you got take out the containers were stuffed, the chow mein had lots of other ingredients peas, onions and cabbage. Last week we ordered take out and when it came the chow mein was dry brown skinny noodles with a brown color and the most odd taste, the sweet and sour pork was tough, just not worth the money anymore figured the restaurant had changed hands will not be going back. Very disappointed

Don t look at the reviews from over 3 months ago, as of late November 2019 there s new owners (not the first time the restaurant has changed owners). They have the best Chinese food (IMO), on busy days the food might take longer, but I for one is fine with the food talking longer as long as the food is hot and good. Ordered from skip the dishes, the combo for 1 menu selection is 5/8 chicken items, that doesnt leave alot for variety alto choose from. I ordered the chicken chow mein, deep fried prawns and sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork and deep fried prawns were pretty good, the chicken chowmein was dry and mostly flavorless but had an odd taste at the same time, I had a couple bites and threw the rest out.

When you have to pack the food full of peppers too improve the flavor its not good. If you are going to change your recipe you should be also be changing your menu so people with allergies can make an informed decision. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again

New ownership is doing a fantastic job! Best Chinese food in the okanagan (on par with dragon lotus in peachland) best ginger beef! Everything we had was on point great texture and taste.

Wasnt worth what we paid. Food was super greasy. The wontons are more like meatballs in a wonton wrapper. The ginger beef and sesame chicken were over cooked and they used a ton or corn starch. Lesson learned. Side note: as an oriental person, I disapprove.

Ordered there last night trying the salt pepper squid 18.94 the order was tiny and mushy. Trying to support them but?

From the second you walk into the building, it is absolutely gorgeous!! The layout is amazing as well as homely and nice scents. Then you get into the main room and its just as beautiful as the last. Ordered a watermelon bubble tea and a taro which tastes like fruitloops just saying haha. Anyways the waitress was really kind and helped alot plus patient and funny, we ordered the combo for 1 which is huge portions and she did the pick 4 as well also huge. Overall the negative reviews I say mightve been a one time mistake, but mistake me not this is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten!!

Weve been getting takeaway a lot more these days with COVID, and I have to say that most places (including this one) do not ask whether you need cutlery or chopsticks. We like to eat outside by the lake, and cutlery and napkins are essential. Also, the the chowmein was cold and the ginger beef was tough (I wasnt expecting it to be deep fried), and lemon chicken wasnt anything to write home about. Sorry Golden Crown, this was a first and a last time well order.

Good sized portions. Delicious food. Good service. Reasonable prices. I will order from Golden Crown again. From my experience it is the best chinese food restaurant in Vernon. The only thing that kept it from getting a five star rating from me was, a forgotten spring roll in my order and I received regular wonton soup when I ordered the noodle wonton soup. Honest mistakes that could be improved by relaying the meal orders back to the customer and double checking meals before they are sent out.

5 out of 5 from me. This was my first visit to the Golden Crown and it will not be my last. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The portions were generous as well. And the price was affordable. I highly recommend this dining experience

Take out was fabulous!

Sadly this visit is not what weve experienced in the past. Everything had a great flavor but the sesame chicken, almond chicken, and sweet & sour pork were all way over done. Some of it actually could not even be chewed. The almond chicken was very dry and very tough. Did not resemble chicken. I also love bubble tea and got myself one for a treat. Ended up disappointed as the tapioca was undercooked and tough. Certainly not the best experience weve had here. Hopefully it was just an off night.

Among the worst managed restaurants ever. One server was unbelievably rude the other was friendly. The owner/manager was extremely rude to us for asking for our ice cold food to be heated up. Even the server said I wouldn t eat that if I were you The owner stated the kitchen was too busy to warm up my food so she would just microwave it. I don t go to restaurants to pay for microwaved food. Would rate 0 stars if I could. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

New to Vernon and was craving chinese food so decided to try this place out. First thing I noticed was the friendly and welcoming staff. It is the chinese food you crave after a night out. The construction out front makes it a hassel to find and dine in but, was well worth it. I will deffinately be going back, and only docked a star because my deep fried prawns was a touch over done...4.25 stars imo well worth your time to try them out.

We ordered delivery last night (dinner for 4) with family from out of province and I was embarrassed at how terrible the food was! It was absolutely foul. The chicken chow menu tasted like chemicals and toothpaste and everything was dripping with very old tasting and smelling fryer oil. This is Not the same as the old golden crown. The cooks are not the same! Save your Money. Go anywhere else. Very disappointed customers.

Do NOT go here. After waiting 20 minutes just to see our waitress ( there were three outer tables occupied in the restaurant and 3 people serving), we placed our order with the specification that there was a mushroom allergy. We had the waitress repeat the order. The food was a long time coming as well, mostly because they had a table of friends and family there that all the waitresses would serve before paying guests. after a few bites, my throat closed up. Lo and behold, there was mushrooms. After a panicked shot, I asked the owner why there was mushrooms in it. Her exact words were well you just said you had an allergy, you didnt say you had an allergy allergy, so we didnt think you were serious. They took my beef and broccoli chop suey back to the kitchen and reappeared not two minutes later, stating they had made a new batch. Refused to eat anymore, took the food home, and guess what? They just picked out the bigger mushrooms. Worst ( and deadly if you have allergies) restaurant in vernon

Dont read old posts.There are new owners here and I found everything has improved. I went there with my family today Dec.22 2019,and had the best meal ever .The food very good,favorable, no MSG.I would highly recommend it with what we all just experimented. Nice young family with 2 smart kids.

Told them I was allergic to mushrooms. Within two minutes of first bite I was reaching for medication. Husband moves sone noodles around, finds a big mushroom. Owner says well, you just said you were allergic, you didnt say you were allergic allergic, so we thought you were kidding. She the proceeded to take my food to the kitchen, returning two minutes later saying they had remade it. They asked us to pay full price for a meal I couldnt eat, and then said see you next time
