The chicken in their chicken don is what I hope for whenever I order chicken dishes in other restaurants, but nobody does it like J-Don. Fantastic.
J-DON was a formative experience for me. When I tried their curry for the first time when I was 12 back in 2003 I legit nearly cried because it was just so darn good!! I will never forget that day because that is the day Japanese curry became my absolute favourite food! The way their curry tastes, how the potato perfectly melts in your mouth is still the same today as it was back then. It's a tasty mild curry that leaves you full and satisfied. It also comes with a little side of refreshing cool noodle salad. I remember one year during a Japanese Film Festival they ran a special sake tasting event. My friend and I were being cheeky little brats and wanted to come inside but we were shooed out, haha. I have many good memories of this place. Definitely give them a try!
A very cute restaurant with great service. I ordered the combo don with half hawaiian and half beef. It was really delicious and quite filling for the price. You can sit along the window and look out at the street while eating or at one of the interior tables depending on your preference :)
JDON has been around forever and for good reason. The food is always delicious and the service is always great. The menu is a delightful mix of innovative dishes and classic favorites, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. JDON restaurant is a true gem.
This was my final Japanese restaurant I had yet to try in Vernon. After multiple visits to Japan and annual trips to Asia, it is great to see Vernon have a large number of Asian restaurants. J-Don has been here for a long time. Donburi and Udon dishes are most commonly ordered here. It's definitely their specialties. I really like how the restaurant is decorated and how bright it is. They give you a tray for your bowl, a cup of water, and chopsticks. The Veggie Don came to $15.33 after tax. It tasted pretty good. Staff is extremely friendly. I recommend this place and shall return! The staff here is super polite! Menu is simple and strait forward and the chicken Karaage is to die for! Super fresh and made to order, not refied! The dishes here will provide you with the home cooked Japanese meal experience you have been looking for. It was a shocker to find such great food in a small town on the way to Kelowna! This is a must try for a great Japanese lunch Don!
Yummy yummy! What a great find! The food is great, even our 1 year old gobbled it up. The chicken was tender and juicy, the meal nice and fresh, rice prepared perfectly. It is child friendly (have plastic bowls and high chairs) The staff were very nice and friendly, fast service due receiving our meal. Only complaint was that we are from out of town and are not aware we had to go to counter to ask for a menu. We were only ones in there, thought it odd that nothing was said to us by staff as we waited at table for about 10 minutes wondering if he w getting water or what. Other than that, great experience.

I love this place. Relaxing, minimal interior, good service, and the food is exactly what it should be - Authentic Japanese fare that delivers volume and flavor, and knows what it is. Satisfying, delicious, without trying to do too many things and doing them worse as a result.

This might be my favourite place to eat in Vernon. The atmosphere is so comfy, and the staff are polite. I always get the curry don with chicken, and the meat is so tender and tasty! I always leave with a happy stomach.

Had a veggie Donburi, it was succulent and good portion for the price. The service and kindness of the staff is beyond good, real Japanese kindness and respect in every aspect from taking your order, collecting the money to give you the dish in such a notable way. Arigato!

Consistently great food for many years!!!! Every time I eat there, the food is the same great quality. Its nice because I know that I can go back and get the meal Im looking for with no worry that something may have changed over time. Im amazed that this place has such great quality consistency. Parking: Lots of parking around the city. A couple lots nearby. Wheelchair accessibility: Level with the ground, no stairs involved.
Love this place! Ive been coming since I was a kid and now I love bringing my own kids here. The food is delicious (California Don is my personal favourite) and the people are always wonderful and kind. 100% would recommend Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.
A Japanese owned donburi restaurant. They have been around for yrs on the same corner. Always cooked properly and deliciously Japanese comfort lunch or dinner. They also make sushi. On Sunday- It is all about great teas. The nutritional aspects of Japanese food shouldnt be overlooked. Theres a reason that the Japanese arent obese and they live so long.

I love this little gem in Vernon, I m always so happy when I order their food. Kazu the owner is so nice and welcoming. My favourites are the Children Karrage, California Don and the gorgeous Udon, everything so fresh and delicious.

We had BIG bowls of donburi. It was really tasty. They also had high chairs and a little bowl of rice for our little toddler. Would definitely recommend checking this place out for a yummy filling meal.
ordered take out, service was good and friendly. ordered the veggie don and the hawaiian don. the hawaiin don, it was good, the portion was good. The veggie don was completely flavourless, rice + barely cooked vegetables.
Not one staff member wearing masks. They have no clue about social distancing. They have 1 table open and the 2 counters. Food was awful today! I had Beef Don because there was no chicken. Bowman was 90% rice, most of the beef was fat and inedible. Not going back
I have been frequenting J-Don for approximately 20 years now and the quality of food and service is consistently AMAZING!!!! This is by far my favorite place to eat in Vernon! Cannot wait for them to bring back their sushi (Dragon Roll)!!!! Love LOve LOVE!!!!!!

First timers at J-Don. Ordered the party tray for the Boyfriend and I to stay. They make them from scratch if you are ordering be prepared for a 40 min wait - we took a atoll over to the bookshop across the street to pass time. The party tray was fresh and flavorful. The order guy/ cashier was super friendly and attentive. Excellent service! The bowls looked delicious!! Will be going back for sure!!

Favourite restaurant!
While i love their food, their hours suggest they dont care about their customers at all. Many times i arrive during posted hours and they are closed for no apparent reason. They only seem to care about the weekday lunch rush hours.

I have been going to J-Don since i was in grade 8. 10 years later and I still come here. The quality has never faltered and the service is always great. The atmosphere is so peaceful. I would recommend this place to anyone want great food and a reasonable price.
J-don is awesome. They serve creative sushi rolls, and fresh food. Its compareably priced to other sushi places in town but I believe they deliver a better experience. The restaurant is well lit and super casual and has a really pleasant vibe. The food is awesome as well, I always get the beef donburi and a couple different rolls. The donburi is always fresh and tasty, and the rolls are large, fresh and awesomely original. They also have a punch card that rewards you for eating there. I definitely reccomend going here If you want some fresh and tasty Japanese food.

It was an interesting place to go to but Im very glad we stopped here. When we first walked in the door it definitely had an Asian feel to it (based off what Ive seen in vlogs of cafes there) it was a lot different then any other restaurant in town. The girl working at the front counter was obviously new but she did a very good job. I was a little disappointed to find out sushi was only for lunch but was happy with the alternative meal I ordered. For the price I paid I actually got a good amount of food. The style of the restaurant is comparable to a fast-food place where you order and pay for your food then take a tray with your water and cutlery to where you are sitting and they bring you the food when its done. They conveniently have a station with to go boxes and such for if you cant finish your meal and would like to bring it with you. I definitely plan on going back again and trying more food.
