The Winston Pub in Vernon

A few of us went for wing night on Thursday. Absolutely the best wings in Vernon. Great service and the whole pub has a fresh look but the same classic feel.

New to town and have driven by multiple times but it looked prettty sketchy so never went in. Well all I can say is don t judge a book by its cover. Had a great $12 lunch and a cider, played some keno and nice conversation with Sorcha. Definitely be back, excited to bring the family! Food

Amazing prices if youre there before 5! 2 roast beef dinners with all the fixings....with drinks! $34.00, places like this are far and few between these days...especially those on tight budgets.

Great Atmosphere. Good music. Food was not as good as I expected it to be. Quality doesn t justify the prices. And they have a website with all the wrong information. The website took me there only to find out what I was looking for wasn t available for the advertised price. Worst caesar I had in Vernon.

Tuesday night we had a group of us, prawn special delicious, service amazing, heard about steak potatoes and chimichurri sauce, wednesday...omg the best thing Ive eaten for a long time, and the price incredible 12.99 I believe. Service great again! Thankyou! Food

Went witha group of ladies for a late Sunday lunch. Food was fantastic reasonably priced and service was friendly and efficient. Aiden was behind the bar and waiting on us. Super charming, offered to make my friend a marg with fresh lime juice and looked into dietary needs and substitution requests in an accomodating manner.

Food has gotten so much better. Steak and warm potato salad is absolutely amazing. The dill pickle wings are yummy. The Service was great. This place needs new chairs that go with the table. Not very comfortable having the tables up so high and the chairs to low. The table sits at your chest. Chairs are very ratty and cracked and same as the bench seats. The place could use a re-vamp as the carpet by the stairs are black and dingy. It wouldnt hurt to get a carpet cleaning company in to clean it. But the food! WOW! Its delicious. The Chef is top notch!

Incredible food and service. Excellent prices. Definitely will visit again. Toast beef. Yorkshire. Roast potatoes and vegetables every Sunday for $12.50. Steak and shrimp every Friday. Definitely coming back.

It doesnt have that Sr. Winston Pub feel anymore, unfortunately... Even the big awesome mural painting is hidden under new wall paint. They are probably going to change the name and put a lot of rainbows everywhere. Staff is friendly, though, food and beer was ok. Update: they re-painted the big mural! Nachos can be better, beer selection wider but the general direction has been corrected. Nachos + 10 wings + 2 beers + 2 cranberry juices = $70+

Had lunch with friends and ate on the rooftop. Our waitress was lovely and helped us move an umbrella to give us some more shade. I ordered a Nashville chicken burger with yam fries and shared a plate of Brussels sprouts. The food came quickly and was absolutely delicious! The Brussels sprouts were cooked beautifully and we cleaned the plate. My yam fries were crinkle cut and were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chicken burger was insanely good. This is definitely one of the best meals I ve eaten in a very long time! Will definitely be going back :) Vegetarian options: Beautifully cooked Brussels sprouts!

Time to shut er down. The male bartender was less than friendly. I understand there are new owners and they are buying new chairs. Sir Winstons needs more than that. It was a cool place in 1996. Ill stop there.

Took my wife there for our 10 year dating anniversary(married 9 years next month so it went well) The waitress was great. AC needs some work as it was quite warm. The Calimari was good altho the serving was kinda small. Springrolls were a different take, but we really liked them. Nashville wings were tasty. We will be back

Went for Appies and a drink. The Korean Corndog and Brussels were both great! The service was on point, and the old pub atmosphere is excellent.

Food and menu got worse. New owner butchered the menu, cut it in half. There were some classics taken off menu. Food served on metal lunch trays, Caesar salad is mustard based dressing now... doesnt feel like the classic pub anymore. Went once a week for years, never going back.

Only went to the Liquor store. The prices were high, selections low.

The deep Fried cheesecake is worthy of a cheat day or 3. EDIT: I regret to inform you they no longer have the deep fried cheesecake.

Stopped in for a weekend lunch and a couple of beers. We tried the Bangers and Mash and the Yorkies on the NEW menu and were very pleased. Best Yorkies Ive ever had and they are HUGE! Hazy IPA on tap was very good. We will definitely be back.

This pub has seen better days. Everything is old and starting to really show its age. The food is boring and not very interesting. This place is in need of a serious influx of cash to make it interesting again.

This is a good little place if you want somewhere to eat, have a drink and hold a conversation. I came here on a Thursday and ordered the pulled pork poutine, I enjoyed it although it could use a bit more pork. There were about 20 other people so it wasnt crowded but also wasnt uncomfortably silent and I was able to chat with my friend and hear him . The server was extremely friendly, although her attentiveness considering the small amount of other customers was slightly lacking (I would say her personality made up for it though!).

Weve lived in Vernon for over 25 years, and this was the first visit to Sir Winstons. The food was great. Well definitely be back.

The waiter was good, but the food was another story. Our simple order took about 70 minutes to come out of the kitchen ,(no the place wasnt busy) and the quality of the food was bad to put it nicely. Wont be going back. Used to be a nice place but has really gone down hill.

Sir Winstons is eatery number ninety-four for me in Vernon and Coldstream. Sir Winstons has been around since 1995. Although located in a rough part of town, it is famous for its summertime patio. This was my third time here in the past ten years. Unlike other places that try to charge $20 for an excessively large order of nachos, you can do a small half order of nachos for $13. The nachos are tied with The Kal for the best Canadian style nachos in Vernon (only Los Huesos is superior but its Mexican style). I also ordered Deep Fried Pickles which are $10 instead of $12 during Appy Hour. My water, half nachos, and deep fried pickles came to $27.77 after tax and a 15 percent tip. I ate the whole meal in one sitting. The half order nachos could be a little bigger, but nearly every restaurant and pub has settled for mediocre nachos as of late. I prefer quality over quantity at this point. Its so difficult to find good nachos. The server was super friendly and came by frequently. I highly recommend as an alternative to The Kal. 5/5.

We had dinner tonight at the pub for the first time under new ownership. Well congrats u just added u self to another mediocre low average restaurant. It was so much better quality food before. No wonder the place was empty. The poutine was no way near it should be and the wings were nothing special. Sorry but u food will not attract tourists or the regular Vernon customers. Sad. But true. What ever happened to good quality food. Sorry wont be back.

Has a great roof top patio

The food was good, the service was friendly and timely, my only point of improvement would be on certain drinks such as the frozen margaritas. Though they were good the large chunks of ice made it impossible to drink with the small size of the paper straws, which unfortunately left us chewing our drinks.

The staff seem friendly. I feel safe presenting as queer in this space. The food is about as pricey as everything seems post pandemic so its on par - not unusually cheap or pricey.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere! Small space, but thats okhat makes it cozy. I highly recommend it! Edit; Recently, the Pub was sold:( New owners made changes to the menu. not good, I might add. Shoe string fries gone....lol among slight changes to other items. Its not as good anymore. Sad, we wont go back. When a pub has regulars and a regular menu, its not a good idea to change it. Sad, really.

Service was excellent. Place was empty and still took 1/2 hr for our meal. Appetizer came at same time as meal. Fries had dbl the amount of salt on them than McDonalds. Menu on line showed a lot more with different specials than they actually have. Steak sandwich wasnt much bigger than a smoke pack. My wifes beef dip was more like beef sinew. Tables and chairs need help. Wobbly as all hell.

Please update online menu on website! The prices are vastly different online than in restaurant. Quite shocking to have to pay an extra $20 plus when picking up takeout. On top of that they don t have several menu items that are advertised online. Why even bother to have a website? Especially one that promotes food items that aren t available anymore or don t reflect the real price? Great example of poor customer service and lack of integrity within business management. If you re going to run a restaurant, and let alone a decent one then make sure everything is cohesive and consistent. It s the very least a restaurant business should do.

The best pub in vernon!

First off staff was awesome! But as a group last night going by what we had seen on the internet menu we were very disappointed! The menu has not been changed since the new owners took over. There is no Seafood night on Friday and Saturday! The only Seafood on the menu is fish and chips. What we had off the menu everyone was happy with. Yes we would go back but please beware not to go by the menu online

No clamato for our drinks...too many flies...uncomfortable seating....

The food was alright nothing special, their online menu vs the menu in person are completely different I felt they should either honor the website menu or inform people when making a take out order the menu prices have changed. Probably wouldnt be a return customer to be honest.

Abusive to their local regulars in effort to please Premier who is behind everyones problems. Thats sick and sad. Will never patronize again Sir Winstons made its choice and Ive made mine.

This pubs located on a route for people passing through and after my experience, of overhearing servers making fun and looking down on people, along my service was of rudeness, I think it doesnt hold well for the people of Vernon being represented this way, would not recommend a shotty pub

Our group of 4 had an amazing meal here. We just stopped in for a late lunch. Not expecting anything but typical pub food. All of our meals were exceptional. My husband didnt even need to dip his beef dip. It was already juicy enough. My poutine was the best Ive ever had and there were multiple options. The BLT and the Clubhouse were both a level above typical as well. We will definitely be back next time were through Vernon. Such a nice surprise.

I ve been going to Sir Winston s for a long time, and the food and service is always amazing, not to mention the atmosphere! The seat with the cannon pointing at it was always my favorite place to sit.

Its been 3 years since this review, and I still have not put one foot in this business! Still buy $6000 a year in beer, still dine out in Pubs weekly, just not here! Love the burgers here! Have to change my review. I cannot support this place anymore. A place I would dine at twice a week, a loyal customer of the beer store ($500 a month easy). But after the pricing has gone up and the food quality has gone down, staff changes in the beer store I just got to take my money somewhere else. New beer store employee tells me that I have to decline the tip, management policy and when I decline his direction I got banned! Awesome NEW employee you have there! He just took $6000 a year out of your pocket.

Great food, burger and beef dip were top notch. Note that currently their prices are 15-20% higher than advertised on their menu. Both items are $16.5 on menu, but were 19 and $20, a bit of a sticker shock. Hopefully they fix this ASAP. Also, happy hour specials not posted anywhere on menu.

Loved the old feel of the building and the woodwork in the bar. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was tasty with BIG portions! I suggest the poutine! But for a Saturday night...this place was dead, music was almost non existent and felt not much like a pub. Old, slow vibe.

Sir Winstons, or Sir Winnies we all call it, has the right kind of atmosphere. It was a relaxing night with friends new and old. At first glance, the prices for food looked pretty steep, at least until you see the portion size. When my partner ordered a poutine I did not expect a heaping plate of delicious shoestring fries with cheese curds and gravy, but we sure got one. Can recommend in good faith.

Excellent pub, always a pleasure. Great patio. Perfect place for a pint and a bite or to watch some sports.

We had fish and chips. HUGE portions ( I needed a doggy bag ) great quality and friendly quick service at a good price.

This restaurant told other patrons they could not have more than a certain number of patrons at a table while at the same time allowing the premier and his retinue of remoras as many people as they desired.

This place is a great neighborhood pub! Their rooftop patio is a good time. Good is good and they have great deals throughout the week. Ive never had a sub par server either! Theyre always awesome!! AND the Baileys ice cream is definitely worth saving room for.

Good service and appies

Sir Winstons used to one of our favorite places in Vernon. The servers are consistently excellent and it s always nice when they remember what you like to drink. Unfortunately the bartender has decided that it s now a country music place. Most places will be accommodating if you make a music request, but this one always refuses. If Sir Winstons wants to be a country pub have at it but thematically it doesn t seem to be a good fit. At least the bartender gets to enjoy the music. The bigger issue and reason for the 1-star review is same bartender rarely used her mask except as a chinstrap. Coughed into her hand (with her mask off) and on multiple occasions had her fingers in her mouth picking her teeth. Shortly after that she was restocking limes and using her hands to guide them into the container. She went to the back a couple of times, but was back very quickly so I m sceptical she washed her hands and certainly not thoroughly.

Why does this place respond with the same cut and paste reply to everyone posting negative responses to the restaurant having different rules for different patrons? Your customers arent worth the time for a real response?

We met good friends so it was a quiet atmosphere to chat. The service was very good as was the food!!! The portions are large and couldnt eat it all so we got to enjoy a second time at home. Highly recommend you try them out if you havent been there.

Spend lots of money there. All servers except one, & everyone says the same about her are amazing. However you are judged, not given respect to express yourself and god forbid if you arent the first to make a negartive comment you will he either barred or restricted. This pleace doesnt even rate a star. definitely NOT THE PLACE TO Go to to be have fun, relax or be treated with respect or kindness. Management really does not know that honor and their word should be something that means trustworthy and sincerty. Honestly so many better places to go to relax and be treated with respect and kindness. Mayb thats why this place is always so empty. and business is slow. This kind of says it all. I hope that one day they understand what is important in life

Consistently good food and great service!!!

In spite of being fully vaccinated, we were denied service because one person in our group didnt have a mask. In a pub full of people shoulder to shoulder without masks on. Its a little absurb we could not walk the short distance to a table without a mask.
