Raku Rice and Noodle Bar is a little hole in the wall kind of restaurant in downtown Vernon that you might walk past and be curious about, but the ramen is incredible and it needs to be experienced. I called this shop our depression ramen spot, because if you are feeling blue, a big steaming bowl of spicy, savoury, comforting ramen with it s incredible broth can change your bad day into a much better one. This is the best ramen that I have ever had and I am a connoisseur of Japanese food, as I cook a lot of Japanese food at home and have been to Japan. This ramen is next level and so authentic that I was shocked that Vernon could have a place like this. I always go for the super ramen (the sukiyaki beef and chasu pork in it is absolutely delicious) and I would suggest that you get the garlic chilli oil on the side, as you can add as much or as little as you like. If you want to have a big bowl of comforting, authentic, legitimate, Japanese ramen check them out! Vegetarian options: Ask staff. Dietary restrictions: Ask staff, lots of options available. Parking: Park around the corner from the Main Street, as parking is limited. Kid-friendliness: Kids would like it. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible.

Their ramen is so good. I would put Raku s ramen up against many in Vancouver that I have tried recently. I could (and do) eat it multiple time a week

Good broth and noodle overall but For the first timer better off choosing the plain ramen ones.

Authentic, delicious and reasonably priced Japanese ramen restaurant. Great variety to choose from on the menu. The ramen noodles I had was good as any I have had in Japan or Vancouver where I live. Yumi was our waitress. She was delightful. Highly recommend this gem in Vernon BC

Ive been here twice and both times felt the broth was overwhelmingly salty.

Sat for over an hour and not even our appy came out. First time ive ever walked out of a place. Horrible service.

Excellent Ramen plus fresh and well prepared Sushi. California, Fire and Dynamite rolls all very tasty. Try the Tempura, Chicken Karaage, or Gyoza to start. April 2024 update, tryed the Beef Udon soup today, it was amazing. Order extra eggs, they go perfectly with the broth. Food

For a ramen shop in Vernon this still hit the spot. Asked for less sodium broth like one of the other reviews, was really good.

I enjoyed the Spicy Super Ramen and the Tempura Broccoli. Both dishes were exceptionally good, and I would strongly recommend them to anyone seeking excellent dining experiences.

Pretty good I guess. I m not a huge fan of ramen anyway. The soup broth is pretty good, the noodles taste like they are straight out of a ramen noodle pack. Pretty expensive for a bowl of Ramen though.

Their ramen was pretty good. I did find it different that they sell their boiled ramen eggs unseasoned and it was maybe microwaved and sold by the 1/2. Some of the bamboo shoots or cabbage were not very tasty and I ended up taking them out, but they have good broth and noodles. I had the spicy garlic.

Found this gem of a spot. I had the spicy ramen. The chili flakes definitely upped the heat value, but it wasn t an overwhelming heat. Very good ramen. Glad to have found Raku.

My wife and I really enjoyed the ramen and the servers were very friendly and attentive, I just have one suggestion that would greatly improve the experience while eating in. Owners of Raku, please install a door closer hinge on the entry door. When I was there, the door was slamming what felt like every 1-2 minutes and it was very difficult to enjoy the restaurant with this ongoing noise.

I ordered take out tonight. I had chicken ramen. It was the most bland meal ever. It had 3 very small pieces of chicken noodles and half of an egg and soup. Thats it!!! Talk about disappointing!!!! I wont be back!!!

Casual restaurant, but incredible food. I ate the Super Ramen and was incredibly impressed. Flavour and portions were perfect. Im 6 2 230lbs large man but I was definitely satisfied by the amount food for the price! (Approx 25$ all in well worth it)

We are very lucky to have such a great ramen place here in Vernon. We have been frequenting Raku for years. Our whole family loves it, even our out of town guests have been impressed. I always stick to the regular Raku Ramen. I really appreciate the depth of flavours that work in perfect harmony to create this dish. Keep up the great work! Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is on street level with no stairs or ramps. There is a bit of a hump at the door frame and the door is very heavy with a round knob. One of the washrooms might fit a wheelchair.

This is my favorite restaurant in Vernon! Delicious ramen, always great service. Its my go to for any day of the week and when I have guests visiting.

I usually have the amazing Spicy Garlic Ramen when I visit Raku. Tonight I decided on something new to me & ordered the Raku Vermicelli with chicken & sukiyaki beef. Wow! A flavour explosion. I was impressed, I am looking forward to trying more dishes. My husband had the Asst Tempura, Dynamite Roll & Fire Roll, all very fresh & tasty. We also ordered 2 bottled beers that came with frosted glasses. This place is great, does not disappoint. Server was polite & helpful! Good food, done right, value for my dollar as portion sizes are generous. Thank you Raku!

The best ramen and gyoza we have found in Canada. Having lived in Japan before it has been hard to find an authentic ramen- highly recommend.

Literally nothing is open in Vernon on a Sunday but this place apparently, and boy am I glad this was where we ended up. The ramen was delicious and very authentic and I loved the huge list of additional toppings you could add, it made us reminisce about all the ramen we got to enjoy in Japan. With the additional toppings we ordered plus drinks on a happy hour special, we probably spent ~$25 per person which was super reasonable. Definitely recommend!

I fell in love with ramen here! It is one of my favourite restaurants in vernon! I suggest it to all my friends who have never tried and it was turned into a favourite among the group! Staff are friendly and learn your usuals and help with suggestions if you want to try new things!

Absolutely to die for spicy garlic Raman.

I ordered take out Feb 10 2023 and I called in with my order, told them I was 20 mins away and they said it would be ready when I get there. I got there and waiting nearly an hour for my food. We got two orders of the super ramen and pop and it took 20 mins drive in and 45 mins at the restaurant. I can say I wasnt happy with the service but the food wad great.

Ugh, salivating just thinking about it! Just go. It s amazing!!! Have the beef Udon. Thinly sliced beef in what tastes like misu broth, udon noodles, veggies, boiled egg. Comes in a monster bowl as big as my head.

I have an obsession with ramen and the flavour of the ramen was excellent.

Delicious, authentic Japanese food. I had the miso ramen and my husband had the deluxe. Both featured a rich, flavourful broth. Filling and satisfying! There was an interesting selection of izakaya starter dishes. We tried the oyster bombers and potato and corn croquette, both were good. I also love their selection of Japanese-style parfaits. What a treat to finish off the meal! Service was excellent for being welcoming, accommodating, and fast. Raku is definitely a serious contender to fill the gap between my food travels to Japan.

Im not sure you could find better ramen somewhere else. The staff was quick to see us and very attentive in our food showed up within minutes. Also the Sapporo beer was amazing.

Amazing place for remen!

Nice apps, ramen and Friendly staff! When I was dining in, I saw one lady coming in the restaurant after the last call and having to leave as it was too late. The server was super kind, she followed her out to share what other restaurants are open, how late they are open till and where they are. One con is that it takes a while to get food even when it s not busy.

Absolutely loved the Dragon Ramen. If you re someone with a high spice tolerance, I guarantee you will enjoy the Dragon ramen. Service was top notch as well. One thing I wasn t too happy with was the portion size of the assorted tempura. For $10.50, I expected more than 6 pieces. Overall, would love to visit again next time I m in Vernon.

I got the Deluxe Ramen and added the dragon spice. It was FANTASTIC. Highly, highly recommend if you like spicy food. My mom got the Super Ramen and while it was very tasty it was incredibly salty. That would be my only complaint. We definitely will go back but I think I would order the broth with 1/4 of the salt if possible next time!

Amazing ramen

Ordered Dragon Ramen. Noodles are not that good. Soups are salty for ramen. I feel the restaurant tries to make good food, but its nothing like Japanese ramen other than the look... Not even close. You probably get better tasting noodles by boiling packaged noodles like Shin yourself.. Ps. In Vernon, its probably one of the best ones.

Hands down best vegan ramen in BC. Yes, Ive tried vegan ramen in Vancouver. This is still better. One bowl is also so huge youll be full for two days. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options great. But seriously best vegan ramen ever. Creamy, savory, umami. Yum. Dietary restrictions: Easily handles almost all allergies and needs. Friendly for vegans, and folks avoiding gluten and dairy. Parking: Street meter parking out front. Parkade is just a block or two away. Kid-friendliness: Kid menu is so fun for the littles. Lots of choices for picky eaters. Wheelchair accessibility: First floor walk in entrance off sidewalk. Very accessible.

Update: The quality of food and care for customers is still like non other. The food is still my top choice across many countries Ive visited. I highly recommend Veggie Ramen as the Cashew broth is to die for! Some of the best food in town. The staff are beyond exceptional. Would highly reccomend to try out a few dishes. Great for people who have a simple or complex flavour pallets.

Terrible delivery/take out experience. Small portion with low quality ingredients for $20, with currier tip we paid $27 for one, small portion of ramen. Noodles were cooked in a wrong way, half an egg only and broth that tasted like from the store bought can. I dont understand all the good reviews.

Their Ramen is amazing, some of the best broth and noodles Ive ever had. Their staff is awesome as well. Even though there were only 2 women working besides the chef(s), they did an amazing job, and I would definitely go there again! Its a very chill atmosphere as well. The range of food prices is from $10-20, $20-30.

Nice friendly place

I like this place because it is just nextdoor from our shop, and the food was good. This restaurant is right next to our construction company. Business is very good on weekdays at noon, and the field staff may be a little busy. If there is a huge crowd... There s not much to ask for in Vernon. Even if it s very mediocre, it doesn t really surprise me. So even if it s mediocre, it s okay to eat it occasionally. The udon noodles are sometimes too salty, but basically the performance is very satisfying!

I look forward to this Ramen every time I come to Vernon. Theyve got plenty of gf options, you can even sub for zoodles if youre not a big noodle eater. Try the Batu Ramen if youre a spice lover. Such beautiful broth and very generous portions. Always lovely staff, too.

My companion and I enjoyed the food we ordered. We shared two sushi rolls and 2 beers. What I loved- the rolls were really quite large. They were freshly made.

Stopped by for ramen on our way to Kelowna while on vacation. Great ramen, very subtle flavours and thin broth but I love the amount of variety for additional toppings. Happy hour small plates were great too. But be advised the wait will be long during peak hours.

Delicious every dish I ve tried has been beyond regular standards I ve tasted in Vernon. I live in Chilliwack and would travel here just for ramen vs places I ve tried in Vancouver.

Kid-friendliness: After our order was taken, we were asked to take our 18 month old, outside until the meal arrived. This, in my opinion, is not kid friendly. Yes he was vocal and yes we tried to keep him busy but at the urging of another patron, we were advised to take our son outside. Poor customer service. We left before the meal arrived.

This place deserves 6 stars!! nothing else to say except if you give Raku anything less then 4 stars, youre a monster and nothing can please you! Update August 2022: HO-LY-COW, I dont understand how it got better, but it did. Less salty now and more flavour, its unreal.

I order on the regular- so flavorful, well prepared, and most of all consistent. You can always trust that it will be bang on. Tastes home cooked, lucky to have this in Vernon.

The food was good but the service was really slow, my daughter ordered an avocado roll that was not only delayed at our table but also wasnt made properly, roll was completely undone so all the ingredients were out of place. , making an unpleasant dinner experience , I paid for poor food preparation and honestly I would not recommend the place and obviously I wont come back

The interior is a bit spartan, but the ramen is top notch. Noodles were cooked perfectly. Our table was two very happy Miso Ramen eaters, and our third eating the Special Ramen lost her mind a little bit. Summary: Big city ramen in Vernon. Nice!

Im stuck at home sick and all i wanted was soup last night. So I tried your Raku Ramen for the first time and it was amazing, lots of veggies, meat, even a boiled egg. So good and filling. My husband and daughter who are extremely picky both loved their orders as well and the hand written note that accompanied our order was so thoughtful and appreciated Thank you so very much (and thank u to the friend from work that recommended u )

I absolutely adore this restaurant, the noodle bowls are my go to. Very yummy and rich with flavour and the staff are always nice.

In town for hockey and was hoping for a good bowl of pho. All the pho restaurants were closed so went to Raku amd had the spicy garlic ramen soup. Fantastic!!!! Cant wait to come back.

Raku has an excellent food discount when you dine in between 2-6pm. Japanese food can be expensive in Vernon so this really helps. The spicy broccoli, vegetable, and yam tempura taste great. The only omission from their menu is yakisoba. Staff is super friendly. If you need yakisoba desperately, head to Mahoroba. Mahoroba and Raku are both excellent Japanese restaurants here in Vernon. The veggie raku rolls also tasted really good too. I will definitely come back here.

Everythings really salty and lacking in nuanced flavors - The sushi is an absolute mess - And the ramen is so expensive. I discovered I could go elsewhere and get a big bowl of noodles and broth for 17 bucks when it costs me 25 base price to get enough there, so as much as a novelty they were starting up in this town, I cant justify going back.

Awesome Ramen! Everything was exactly how I like it. The noodles were great (not too soft, more on the firm side), the egg was literally perfect! And the pork was amazing, all sitting in a very well balanced broth, not too light, not too heavy. All up it was brilliant! Well done Raku.
