Browns Socialhouse Village Green in Vernon

Updated: Gave us food poisoning. The service and atmosphere here is always great, food price I find expensive but we had a $10 off coupon so wasn t too bad. My husband ordered a burger - 5 star. I ordered the dragon bowl with teriyaki chicken - 1 star. Chicken was perfect but there was something wrong with the dish and it tasted sour and off. Got the bowl switched out and recooked without the pickled cabbage but again it tasted off and couldn t eat it. We figured out that tangy sauce was what was off and the running to the bathroom within 20 minutes confirmed it. Would not recommend that menu item but would recommend Browns. To the comment from Gerran - if you actually read my review, you would have noted they did offer a replacement but it still tasted off. They did offer another replacement but we were out of time. People work during the day and have limited lunch times. My husband tried the sauce and he too got within 20 minutes after we left the restaurant which is how we figured out it was the sauce. Entire meals should not taste sour and off and obviously no effort was made the 2nd time to taste the sauce. It felt like food poisoning. How clean is your kitchen if the sauce was off. Dropped to 1 star overall because you gave us food poisoning.

I m writing this review after a shockingly disappointing experience. My mother-in-law, who has a severe gluten allergy, ordered a dish labeled as gluten-free on the menu. Naturally, we trusted the menu as presented only to discover afterward that this restaurant hides the crucial detail that these dishes are only gluten-free upon special request, buried in the fine print. This is unacceptable in today s dining landscape, where gluten-free menus are expected to clearly and accurately cater to dietary restrictions and health needs. This oversight put my mother-in-law s health at serious risk, which is utterly inexcusable. When we raised the issue with our server and later the manager, their responses were defensive and dismissive. They argued that we should have read the fine print, as though a customer s life should depend on scrutinizing hidden disclaimers. To add insult to injury, they even debated whether they should charge us for the meal they served her despite their clear negligence. What made the situation even worse was the manager s unprofessional behavior. When I mentioned that I knew the restaurant s owners, she dismissively stated, I m not threatened by you. This level of hostility and arrogance, especially in response to a legitimate complaint about a life-threatening issue, is both shocking and unacceptable. This level of carelessness and lack of accountability is appalling. Restaurants must take dietary restrictions seriously, and hiding critical information in fine print is irresponsible and dangerous. We won t be returning, and I encourage anyone with dietary restrictions to think twice before dining here. Please, if your server is Dillion, or your manager is Siman, double check your meals for allergy compliance.

Goal: order take out Call but instead directed to order online. Attempt to order online website experiencing technical difficulties . Drive to the location to order take out in person. My number is taken as the order will take 15-20 mins to prepare informed the person taking my order I will be sitting at the bar. 30 mins later i ve been forgotten and have to ask about the status of my order. Turns out its been sitting on the counter but nobody called me. Whats the point of asking for my number? I really dont appreciate having my time wasted.

Its a nice and busy place, but I didnt like the menu selection. Almost everything fried. I had a burger, and it didnt impress me.

Visited Browns for lunch, and the service was outstanding. Friendliest servers ever, and the fancy tomato sandwich was amazing!!!! Now my go to place.

First time at Browns and it was great. Good food and excellent service. The staff were friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. The brownie was delicious.

Over priced, a 4oz chicken sandwich looking like a slider with fries is $23 bucks.

I went out for dinner with my boyfriend and had hyped up Browns Social House because he s not from here and has never been. We were beyond impressed with the service & food! Our server was awesome (I forget her name but she was going to an oilers game the next day). He said it was one of the best French dip sandwiches he s ever had. Highly recommend!

Food was okay, small portions and pricey for what it is. The staff were great though, very attentive and friendly.

Awesome place freindly staff spectacular food

There were some really grumpy, awkward and tense situations at several of the tables in the section we were seated in but the staff kept it super professional, were super kind and attentive and the food came hot and delicious! Our server Anna Marie was absolutely amazing and we hope to be seated in her section again sometime soon :)

Service was good but i asked for the fettuccine with no chicken and no bacon sub broccoli and mushrooms instead and the server said they have to charge me extra for literally two mushroom caps and a few pieces of broccoli. This made no sense. She said she can t put it in her system properly? I am a server myself and never heard that before. Usually there s a comment section on every computer system. Just seemed ridiculous I had to pay extra.

Excellent service!! Bartender made me a blueberry tea and xhe was warm and welcoming. Everyone was so nice to me. I dined alone and felt totally welcome on a busy night after boxing day shopping dec 27th the snow came down. Browns is a handy place to grab a bite if you are shopping at the Village Green Mall. It s our place for appies. I particularly like their crispy cauliflower. Severs were pleasant and attentive. Of course who doesn t like parking at the Mall - except maybe at Christmas, lol. If I have a complaint it was kind of noisy when we were there but it WAS busy and busy is always a good sign that folks enjoy the food at an affordable price.

Had a great brunch! found out its Saturday and Sundays will definitely be back. Had the fried egg and bacon sandwich and it was amazing! Great service as well. Great way to start your Sunday for sure.

I at brunch here on Sunday and went back for dinner on Monday. Cant believe how much I enjoyed eating here. You can find good food a lot of places in Vernon but its hard to find a good atmosphere and good service and browns has it. Food came out quick and was nice and hot. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, not just salads. The vegetarian butter chicken that is made with tofu and cauliflower was great. Parking: Located at a mall so there is plenty of parking.

My wife and I decided to go to Browns for lunch a week or so ago. When I received my beverage and I took my first sip my wife noticed lipstick on the opposite side of the glass. When we brought it to the attention of our server the staff went above and beyond to make it good!! Thoroughly impressed with the service!!

I wanted to give a 3.7 for a rating. Service was great - our waitress was friendly. Food was okay, nothing wrong with it but it seemed bland although they had some great ingredients. We had the Dynamite roll, fish tacos & nachos. Our waitress helped us out by suggesting we try half & half with the side so it was great having to get a chance to try both! Fries were great .

Highly disappointed in my meal from here. $57 for 2 french dip, with fries and gravy. The fries seemed old, the bun was hard to chew, and the meat left a lot to be desired. The Au jus was way over salty and seasoned. Wont be. back

This restaurant is located on the main strip in Vernon, not too far away from Canadian Tire. This location is part of the mall. Lots of parking available so dont need to worry about that part! The food is great and we didnt have to wait too long for it to be served. The service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

Food here is better than the Esso in Lumby, but its not as chill. The servers do annoying stuff like pretend theyre happy to see you and interrupt your meal to ask you how your food is. Overall Id say its what youd expect from a large chain pretending to be a fancy restaurant, which is to say, its OK but I much prefer the Esso in Lumby. Parking: Strip mall lot. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, but they pretend to be.

Browns Socialhouse is my 105th eatery in Vernon on my quest to eat at every eatery in Vernon. This is a Vancouver based chain. This location has been inside the mall for over a decade. It is the only restaurant apart of the mall. I have been to Browns in South Surrey and Central Saanich, but this is my first time at the Vernon location. Surprising given I have lived here for 24 years. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday afternoon. I was greeted by a server who gave me water but forgot to come back for my food order. Luckily the manager was on top of it and took in my food order rather quickly. My original server came with my nachos and made a return trip to top up my water. Great service overall. The Loaded Nachos were a solid B-Tier nachos. After 105 restaurants, Sir Winstons and Los Huesod are A-Tier, then B-Tier would be Browns, The Kal, Boston Pizza, and Taco Del Mar. I like how they do Florida / American style nachos here by using sour cream drizzle and a lump of guacamole on top. Its different from the standard mediocre uninspired nachos you see elsewhere in town. Anywhere else except Los Huesos you would pay extra for guacamole, but not here. The music was great. Snoops California Roll and Abbas Dancing Queen played while I ate. I ate the entire plate of loaded nachos. It isnt a small serving, but definitely not as big as Boston Pizza or Alexanders servings that charge roughly the same price. The only minor annoyance is paying by debit here. The suggested tipping percentage starts at 18 percent rather than the current BC standard of 15 percent. 18 percent is what you see when eating out at restaurants in Ontario. Because it is too socially awkward to manually punch in a percentage below the accepted minimum as your server watches, I went along with the 18 percent tip. I bought loaded nachos and water for $28.50 after tax and an 18 percent tip. It seems a lot for nachos, but given you typically have to pay three or four bucks to add guacamole to nachos at most places, the pricing isnt outrageous. You do have to pay $6.50 for protein which would push your total closer to $36 after tip and thats without ordering any drinks or sides. They also have free wifi here. Overall, I enjoyed my loaded nachos and Browns here in town. The manager is clearly on top of things here and the staff are very friendly. The place is clearly popular here as after 105 restaurants you dont see many places busy at two o clock on a Tuesday afternoon. I likely wont be back here but am happy to have made it my 105th Vernon eatery. 105 down. 50ish to go. Vegetarian options: Loaded nachos, veggie burger, crispy tofu lettuce wraps.

Its really tightly packed for seating which I find takes away from the overall enjoyment. But we really enjoy the food and the service has always been great! Drove the scenic west side road and rolled into Vernon for lunch. Totally random spot but I ll say in all honesty, the Spivey crispy chicken sandwich and their social lager are the best I ve had up to that point! I ll be back for more definite

Ive been to browns a few times . Always clean and upbeat and I dig the tunes . The waiting staff have always been polite friendly and engaging very hospitable . The food always tastes great . The only thing is do not recommend is to order your steak well done it will taste charged more then meaty . But they made it up to me with a gift card so il just have something else next time . The drinks are nice and stiff and well mixed . Good place for any occasion . Cheers burgers lit fries are lit cowboy salad is lit . Parking: Something about the parking its the mall so there is all kinds .

We go here quite often, we always enjoy the food, & service! Loving the zero proof soda + shrub right now and the ahi tuna salad with extra tuna ! Super delicious, Happy this place is locally owned and community driven.

The Staff here are always friendly, greet customers upon entry and give the best service to make one feel comfortable and ready to enjoy a delicious meal from their menu. Love the fish tacos...and it is real fish! Quesadillas were so filling and look forward to trying more items from the menu. Such great servings, service, atmosphere and love from all the servers.

Went here for my moms birthday. All I can say great service. There were 14 of us, and they made sure everyone was taking care of. And compliments to the chef that made the Blackened Cajuin Sirloin was fantastic. 100/10. Will for sure come back

Very nice, cozy restaurant with indoor and enclosed outdoor seating, which was well heated even in colder weather. Super friendly, attentive, courteous staff who respond to all questions and requests. We had 2x burgers with fries, they were very tasty and crispy. Value for money is good and we can only recommend everyone to take a look there!

We were shopping and decided to go for lunch for my birthday. My Mom is on a small mobility chair. First you have to get through not one but 2 doors with NO handicap buttons for the doors to open. Then we had to make it to the far corner. There were chairs in the way so my Mom could not get through. There were 3 staff at the bar chatting while I moved the chairs to make a clear path to get to our table to meet the rest of our group. This establishment is in no way suited for anyone with mobility issues in a wheelchair or mobility chair. None of us will be returning. Disabled people shouldn t have to endure this unwelcoming establishment.

Sports bar type atmosphere. Food is fine, though somewhat too salty.. Beware of hidden charges, such as add gravy on fries: $3.50. Check your bill, as I found an extra starter on mine, not ordered. Can be a genuine error, but keep eyes open.
