Great spicy fried chicken!

Went for wings on a Thursday night for wing night was really delicious! Amazing service and drinks were really good too. Maisa did a really good job was very nice.

Got kicked out after 2 doubles saying I was stumbling back to my table. They could have came and talked to me to see if I was coherent. Instead I saw someone I knew so acted excited. And apparently that was too much excitement for them. Will never be coming back and telling everyone I know not to go here. Claiming they get kicked out for serving a single Corona to someone when i see across the restaurant them serving pint after pint to people who are clearly drunk

This place has gone downhill, not impressed at all . Cut off someone after 2 drinks, server lied and then denies it when confronted . Supervisor was incredibly rude when we spoke to her. The place was dead on Halloween and it s usually packed . The server lied to get her tip, we won t be going back again and I ve been a customer for over 25 years. Me and my friends have walked past the kal at least like once a week. We recently over the past couple months saw that they we re building an arcade and were SUPER excited to go to it once it opened because vernon really has nothing like that. Today me and my friends called the restaurant and asked an employee if we could come in and play the arcade games since we are under 19+ and would be without an adult. The employee over the phone told us we would he allowed to come to the arcade and that we were more than welcome. Once we got there and purchased credits, we were told we couldn t be there and were kicked out. This was after we were already told we were allowed there and had spent money. I pretty much wasted my money and now i have credits i can t use.

Location is perfect, the staff treat us with smiles and greetings each time we walk in... Besides the 5/5 stars for each category... I go to the Kal quite often, its our go to pub after playing baseball. No matter how busy it is, Ive always got great service from the staff. Also, the pizza is the best in town!

Menu has lots of choices. Ours were a burger and chicken sandwich that were OK. Servers seemed stretched. Loud even at lunch.

The Kal was a hit and miss so I stopped going. Recently gave it a couple of tries and unfortunately for me the last two times were misses. Used to have great wings. Both times came as barely cooked. Did not resemble anything deep fried.. Skinny fries, how can you get flaccid skinny fries. Sorry we wont be returning

Place isnt bad for being the only bar open in vernon past 10 pm lol. I was very disappointed with the fish tacos I got as they were way over cooked and the French onion soup wasnt very flavourful. The service was okay but to be fair it was decently busy

Bad day in the kitchen? Called in to order food for takeout and when we got back to our hotel, no fries for anything...The beef dip didnt match the menu description either... at least it had beef.

I am my family went to this Pub on July 29th 2024 about 8:30 in the evening. It took 45 minutes for a food to get to our table even though there were only 10 patrons in the whole place. My wife ordered something called spiral fries with cheese it was about $15. There were some whitish squeeze junk on the top but no real actual cheese. Disgusting. I ordered calamari and received a tiny rectangular plate about 3 in wide by 12 in wide they were approximately 25 very small pieces of calamari none bigger than the end of my finger. One sad little piece of lettuce about the size of a 50-cent piece, and it cost $17! Rip off. My daughters Burger was only slightly bigger than a slider and had two pieces of virtually raw bacon on top of the meat. If you actually want good food go to Martens brew pub or the Wings restaurant or Rosters etc etc. Read the employee reviews of this place. They say it all. Maybe go here for a beer but dont order food.

Calamari was dry, fish tacos were tasty but there was only a tiny piece of fish, not even to cover the length of the Taco

We had a light lunch yesterday. Quite a busy place. Cool ambulance and good menu. The server was very busy, but she did everything right. We thought the menu was good and prices were fair. Food was great and enjoyed our time. Hats off and keep it up. Cheers Food

Food was BAD. Got the spiral nachos almost next to no toppings. Who puts cheese sauce on nachos isn t it supposed to be actual melted cheese. The chicken burger was dry and onion rings my husband got were not so fresh. Spent 70$ on garbage. Not so happy with the food .

Wonderful old-school pub and restaurant in the heart of downtown Vernon. Good food, friendly service and great location. Be sure to check out pizza night. Some parking available south of the building.

Update: I boycotted this place for almost 7 yrs because of my first review below. But now have to admit they have amazing pizza. Best in town. Im all about service and accountability. This restaurant charged my credit card on a date that I wasnt there. I called and the wait person who answered the phone said I wasnt the only one that day who had the same complaint. I was given Cheryls name as she is the accountant. I spoke with her 10 days ago and she advised that she would look into this and let me know. Now 10 days later, I have to follow up with her again, only for her to tell me she couldnt find anything, to bring in my statement for proof ( ? the same information I already provided, guess they might not believe me or something) and if she cant find anything to take it up with my credit card company. The attitude shown was that of zero empathy or willingness to get to the bottom of a customer concern. I even offered to her that she seemed like she didnt care either way about this issue. Someone elses problem I guess. Out of principle and lack of customer service, this is one place that wont get my repeat business ever again. Customer service must be a foreign concept. Provide your credit card information wisely.

The service alone deserves 5+ stars, our server was absolutely amazing, she was busy and running the entire time but still paused to answer all of our questions. The food, wow, the food was amazing. I only wish I could try all of the 100 different flavors of wing...but maybe I will just have to return. First time here and it wont be the last. We are from out of town, but would highly recommend the Kal as it is out of this world tasty.

What happened? I have been going to the Kal regularly pretty much 1-2 times per week for years. I just went away for a few weeks on vacation and all new staff, didn t even get offered menus and the drink I did order was wrong and when I sent back to get a new one never showed up. This is really disappointing as this has been my go to pub for years but guess I will have to start looking for a new place or cross my fingers that things will improve.

Amazing service even when it is suoer busy. They also have amazing Pizza!

Martins Brewing was closed due to equipment failure, so we thought wed try the Kal instead. We tried going there a couple of times previously, but 1) we couldnt get a table because they were too busy, and 2) their servers ignored us and wouldnt show us a table. This time, we finally got a table. Unfortunately, the service was weak, the specials were confusing and complicated, the atmosphere was dirty and loud, and the food was badly prepared. The bacon on the burgers was undercooked. They took $5 off the bill for that mess up, but we wont be going back. The Kal is an overrated dive bar. Martins Brewing is much better. The food is more imaginative, the atmosphere is cleaner and quieter, the service is awesome, and its just as conveniently located as the Kal (its literally right across the street). Well never go to the Kal again!

We went here to pick up one of our volunteers, she was sitting at a smaller table so we decided to move to a booth to have a chat over a drink. We waved a waitress over and this tall waitress named Macy came over to clean the table. She started squirting the cleaning product off over the table and it sprayed in all our faces. I told her you spraying it in our faces, she replied that s what you get for sitting at a dirty table Disgusting attitude towards a paying customer, most likely won t be coming back here!

UDATE; THANKYOU to the Kal, for a reply! We did try it again, its a nice place a must see if you travel to Vernon! They are really trying to step up on food and service. Its a busy place for sure. We did try hamburger Wednesdays again and.....it was great! So I changed my review! Thanks again. I do recommend this historic pub!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Kal used to be great food, great service, and even better ambience. It sse to be good home cooking, large meals, a definite must when in Vernon! Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays delicious The patio on the weekends or any sunny day is like being transported to Mexico.... Sadly all these have fallen on the wayside! We were there fathers day 2024, food was substandard, food cold upon receiving, apparently is a new cook. Service, ga was sweet, but super slow and not attentive. Sad cause it use to be great. The place its self is still nice building renos etc. They have renovated inside with big beautiful windows (that open) around the whole pub. They even have a new family area, so if you want quiet... or to bring the kids, its available and beautifully furnished. Sadly we will not return.

Always pretty good

So I am from Calgary out here on a stay cation....I heard from a lot of people that this was one of the best spots in vernon. I had the mini pizzas and they were amazing. I saw a lot of other food come out of the kitchen and it all looked amazing Im not fat but it could happen eating here. Service was welcoming and the the servers were charming and beautiful. 5 stars well done. Seeya wing night! will be back.

Great place for playoff hockey. Tons of Tvs, no matter where you sit, you have a good view. Good selection of beers on tap and the food is good. Daily specials are great, especially Taco night.

A great location and the renovations are nice. Our server was cheerful and polite. It was a bit strange to walk in and roam around looking for a spot to sit. The garage door style windows allow a lot of gritty dirt in. The idea is nice but the practicality leaves a bit to be desired. I m not sure what it was but I tried two different drinks and they were subpar to say the least. Not good at all. The menu is A LOT. The pizza at the table next to us looked great. Our tacos had limited flavour despite one being fish and one being chicken. The bacon wrapped scallops would have been good except for the excessive coating of powdered flavouring on the prawns. Bobbi (the server) and Alina (the bartender) were on last weekend and absolutely made my night as well! Massive compliments to both of them! The environment was exactly what I was looking for! Great food and beverages at a reasonable price

Our meals were very good and tasty. The service was a little slow, maybe not enough staff , they were very helpful and worth the tip. Overall a little too noisy, then again it was Fathers day. We really liked the Bison burger and the 6 oz steak on garlic bread as well as the pierogi appetizer.I can recommend The Kal.

I have ordered here a bunch of times and the food never fails to impress!! I dont think there is a thing on the menu that I dont like! Now every time I tell the guys Im getting pizza they ask for the Kal almost in unison. They even gave me a gift card for some wings that I forgot to grab!! Top marks! Food

We were really excited to try this restaurant out since our usual spot doesn t allow kids past 8. We showed up at 7:45 ordered a couple drinks and food for the family. The drinks were good. When our food came out I informed the kitchen staff who dropped it off that they missed my meal. Everyone finished their meals. The server didn t come check on us even once after our initial order. We were so thirsty and I never got my meal. After packing the family up I walk out to the server printing my bill. After informing her that I never got my meal she said how does that even happen , didn t apologize or give us a discount, and sent us on our merry way. I would understand if it was a crazy fight night and packed restaurant, but it was quite empty. We were the only ones in the family area. We left hungry and thirsty with the taste of disappointment on our tongues

Absolutely some of the best pizza I have ever had. Staff is super personable. Decor is a little dated but fits the whole vibe. Wing night (Thurs/Sun) are a definite must, there are soooo many flavours.

Tried to go here for a beer after work with some coworkers. There was a creepy security guy at the door who told us we werent allowed in if we didnt let him take pictures of us and scan our ids. How is this even legal and how are people agreeing to do this?

Busy ufc night. Three of us came in. Ordered nachos and a few alcohol drinks (cans) Yet somehow soda beverages were added and other unknown beverages. Waiter just walked away after handing us the machine and literally couldn t even explain what wasn t ours on it cause she wouldn t come back she went to the next table outside of the more private rooms. Paid and left. We are Never going back! Dishonest waitresses. Also nachos were rock hard and cold by the time they got to our table. Many of the waitresses were just standing around talking to eachother instead of tending to the busy crowd. Need more organization esp if since waitresses were adding other peoples things onto someone else s bill (then not fix it). Oh well paid it forward I guess but geez.. get some organization going esp during busy days! Offer tap at the bar so you don t scam people with your outrages atm fees too! Who carries cash nowadays

Wings were fantastic

The Ambiance is perfect for a dive bar, and the waitresses are not altogether unfriendly nor are they entirely unattractive but its a good place to kick back and have a couple along with some soft tacos. At least up until 5:00 you can still hear yourself think.

The Kal has the best pizza in town. I eat an unhealthy amount of pizza at The Kal so I put my money where my mouth is. There are days where the only reason I can make it through the day is knowing im going to grab some pizza at The Kal. Thanks for bringing back the old crust. Looking forward to next week already.

Food is great!

Havent had a bad meal here yet! Tanis was such an attentive, friendly, and efficient waitress. Tyson brought my breakfast and was super friendly and professional. I love everything about this place! :D

Absolutely HORRIBLE service waitress took over half an hour to take are drink order (came for the wing night so we wanted a few rounds ) she never came by to ask if we wanted anymore wings or to tell us the kitchen was closing so when she finally came by after a 30 just to tell us kitchen was closed (was not very busy either) very disappointed as we were excited about the visit as we hadn t been there for awhile very disappointed edit I labeled the atmosphere a 1 star cause even though the kal is a nice restaurant when you are blatantly ignored by your server it ruins the overall vibe and experience I hadn t been to the kal since the pandemic and was super excited and after being ignored and not being able to enjoy myself brought the whole experience down to where I didn t even wanna be in the anymore and I had brought company from outta town so the service ruined the whole night

I was sooooo disappointed with the service on Saturday, I could not believe the negative vibe with the staff from the moment we walked in the door. Never mind, after we sat down, the waitress was beyond rude. I hope they get things worked out, it is a cool looking place.

The food was good as usual and our waitress was awesome, but the bathrooms were a disaster. The mens toilet door wont close at all and the toilet wasnt flushing properly either. The paper towel dispenser was wide open and empty too. I told the bartender and he shrugged and said not much I can do about it. Disappointed, I tell the story to the lady Im with and she said the ladies washroom had no soap or paper towel a half hour earlier and she also told the bartender who just shrugged and walked away! This was at 2pm on a Sunday and it was not busy. This completely ruined what was, until that point, a good experience.

Was my first time being to the Kal, and Ill definitely be back! Had an absolute awesome time with my friends, our waitress was awesome. Food and drinks were amazing!

I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately the service was horrible. No cutlery brought to the table, no water refills, no napkins, everything had to be asked for. The food was decent but not good enough I d come back for more.

Food was great the first time we came here except overly salted, the second visit for Thursday wing night; the wings were undercooked (more soggy, not crispy) and again overly salted. Service is good depending on the server you have. We were really unimpressed when we walked in and the servers all stood there looking at us and waved us to a table, without a hello or any sort of greeting to acknowledge us. We had another issue with our bill that a server tried to argue with us over, which she then did resolve, I think with some more training on customer service for the staff, I would give this place another chance in the future.

The biggest, best nachos in the area!

We went there on Saturday night. Food and drinks were great. But our server was not very friendly. I think her name was chloe, we had drinks and appetizer. Then we asked her if we can order dinner and she said they already did their last call. She wasn t even coming before 15-20 minutes to check on us. So i told her that you never told us that kitchen closes at 11. She said yeah but its already closed. I think its fine if its super busy but it wasn t that busy after 10:30.

Aside from some construction that was being done to the building during my visit, it was a great place to eat. Food was amazing and affordable. I had the spicy chicken taco which was super tasty. I was happy to see that you could buy them individually. The staff were great and were really on top of things.

Recently we had a meal at the Kal. Food was great, however our waitress added on a 30 percent tip without our knowledge. When we contacted the Kal about this, they initially responded and then ignored us. Do not recommend. Check your bill and receipt.

Aside from the bartender that wouldnt even look at me but walked passed me to chat with the locals. I actually moved from the bar to a table and was immediately served. Always enjoy the pizza and beer at the Kal! The pizza is definitely one of our favourites and has become a regular stop when visit from out of town!

We ordered the fish tacos and had wings on wing day. Both were exceptional!!! Our server was attentive and friendly! The new family room is outstanding as well as gorgeous and we love taking the kids with us.

The Spicy chicken was good and not expensive. Try for a window table if the weather is good.

Out of four meals, two had to returned. First pizza was overcooked, second was much better. First steak was so thin that it was overcooked and not edible. Second steak was partially raw and partially still frozen. Needless to say that we did not pay for the steak. Waitress was very helpful, too bad the kitchen was not up to par.

I would have given a five star review on the food but the Prime Rib special was over cooked but everything else was delicious.

Most of their food is really good, but i was little disappointed with their wings.. i try several and hot wings were not hot at all, and all of them were lacking flavors. But other than wings, it is one of my favorite restaurants!

Good pizza long waits

Was served chemicals. Ordered a water last night while we watched the ufc fight and was served what I believe was the beer-line cleaning solution. Lukewarm water that tasted like a cleaning chemical/acid. The server apologized saying that the cups must have gotten mixed up. But please be careful, thankfully I was completely sober when this happened and was able to notice before I chugged down the entire glass. Atmosphere was great, service was fast but the fact that my health and safety was put at risk is why I am rating so low.

Came in three weeks ago and ordered a pepperoni pizza, waited almost an hour for a mildly warm pizza poorly cut(had to rip) and grease puddles all over it. Was able to order a Harvey wallbanger so that was okay. Tried it again last night because everyone deserves a second chance, sat down with my date and ordered a double cheeseburger and I made it clear and repeated myself that it was to come only with bacon, cheese, and ketchup, wait 25minutes and I get a fully loaded burger(without bacon), with all the sauces, I return it to the kitchen and they bring it back out to me with a scraped off top bun, and they left all the sauce on the bottom bun, at this point its all soaked into the burger. Pouting came out cold and thick with unrelated cheese. Was also told by the waitress I couldnt order a Harvey wallbanger because it wasnt on the menu(ordered a few last time no issue). This place is definitely not worth going to, even given the second chance, poor staff knowledge and mediocre food at best. Mind you it wasnt even busy.

Went to beer and a burger Wednesday night $12. I was surprised just how good the burger was! I literally could not put it down. This is the kind of burger you would expect to find in a proper burger joint. My favorite thing I have had out in a long time!
