We are from out of town and this is our go to place for delicious sushi. Not many places you can get chicken teriyaki and fried chicken sushi. Very good place to eat.

The restaurant that I often visit during holidays has a set menu, but the food is usually delicious. Although I was initially hesitant due to the change in ownership, I am happy with my experience.

Expensive for the amount of food. Calamari carrage rings tasted bad, cooked in old oil. Salmon sashimi... smallest pieces ever, and over a bed of tasteless celery. Best flavour: ginger ale pop! Not recommended!!!

The restaurant was full , on a Tuesday! Our waitress Emily was calm and polite , quick and accurate . The food was delicious as always .

I wish I had taken pictures to share....the quality of the food was terrible. This used to be a great place to eat with a reasonable price point. We ordered two bento boxes, one teriyaki chicken and one salmon. We got about 2 oz of salmon, a wilted salad, a huge pile of hard rice, and a California roll that fell apart and was stuck together. The chicken was paper thin and also about 2 oz of product. The service was friendly and prompt enough but the food was terrible and not at all what we used to get with the previous owners. We wont go back - Kawakubo, Kawa, and Oh Kim are close enough and far better.

Good solid sushi place. Nothing over the top unique, but your food classics that you can count on. Wouldnt call it the most cost efficient, but it is what it is. Dining room is small and quaint. Not the fanciest for a date night but good for a lunch

Their website said they were open, ordered a platter go to pick up and they are closed. I wouldn t order online from them, be sure to call.

Absolutely amazed by the food and lovely service.

Our favorite Japanese dish is wild Sockeye Sashimi. But not at this restaurant. It did not seem fresh as it was mushy. Sashimi should have a firm consistency. It was sliced into long thing rectangles served on raw Cabbage. Not a good combo in my opinion. Ive only had it served on Daikon which compliments the presentation and flavours. We will skip this restaurant in the future.

Good tempura and sushi rolls

We were in Vernon visiting for a weekend and decided to have takeout sushi one night. We decided on Wasabi as it was close to our hotel and the reviews for the most part were positive. We ordered the Love Tray A and a gyoza appetizer. Price was OK as it ran us about $35 for dinner. We went back to our hotel anticipating a tasty dinner but things got off to a shaky start. First thing we noticed was the order did not come with either pickled ginger or, ironically, any wasabi. Not sure if you have to request these condiments, though thats never been the case with any other sushi restaurant weve eaten at. The gyoza dumplings were underwhelming. They seemed to be undercooked as the skin was missing the crunch you would expect from a pan fired dumpling and the filling was skimpy and less than impressive. The rolls for the most part were OK but the chicken in the chicken teriyaki roll was very rubbery and chewy. Overall a very disappointing dinner.

Our favourite place for date night. We always enjoy a pot of green tea with our meal. We love mix and matching various sushi rolls and sashimi options. Always delicious! The servers are lovely! They are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is quiet and subdued. I think thats why we love it so much.

Delicious but everyone who ate the miso soup here got really bad food poisoning

A few of my friends went here, they said their experience was good but 5/6 of them got violent food poisoning after having the miso soup.

Definitely my favourite restaurant in town. The food is absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. I have never been even slightly disappointed. The staff is friendly which immediately creates a welcoming atmosphere. We are very lucky to have such amazing food in Vernon, BC. My foodie friends/family visiting from Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Auckland say this compares with the best anywhere.

I had a horrifying and concerning experience at Wasabi Sushi & Grill today. My family placed an order in person for takeout and unfortunately the cashier made a mistake. When we picked up the food we noticed we had received prawn tempura rather than yam. We went back and politely asked for a replacement but expressed we would keep the prawn tempura if it was just going to go to waste in the garbage. The cashier went to get the manager and asked her to speak with us. We told the manager the same thing, that we would rather not have it be thrown away since we had already taken it to our vehicle, off the restaurant premises and opened the container. She told us if we wanted to keep the prawn tempura as well we would have to pay for it which we politely declined. She then took the food from me and said it wouldn t be thrown away because they would re-fry it and reuse it in other people s sushi later on. We were completely shocked at this statement and frankly worried that our own food was repurposed from someone else s scraps. We have already contacted Interior Health Food Safety and hope to hear back from them so that this doesn t happen to anyone else. I hate to see this as I previously enjoyed this restaurant but I will never be returning.

THOROUGHLY DISTURBED by my experience. A friend and I ordered lunch here today, a meal that included a set of yam tempura, but after returning to our vehicle and inspecting it, we realised that wed been given prawn tempura instead. We went back inside, bringing the box of prawn in as proof of the error, and explained that while we wanted our yam, wed keep the prawn as well as to not let food go to waste. The owner implied wed need to pay for both sets of tempura, to which we replied that this was an error on THEIR part and the prawn, if returned, would certainly be tossed out anyways. The owner went on to take the box out of my friends hands and insist shed USE IT FOR OTHER PEOPLES SUSHI, adding that deep frying [it] again would sanitise it. This was after wed picked the food up, TOOK IT OUT OF THE RESTAURANT AND OPENED IT. On her part, this is a clear violation of health and safety. We were so shocked by this that we relented and left, now sceptical of eating the rest of our over $60 order. As a both a customer AND former food service worker, I am beyond horrified by this interaction, and have reported it to the local health protection office. I strongly advise people avoid this restaurant, lest you get someone elses unfinished food in your meal.

Such an amazing place. Found out about this little gem when a colleague microwaved some leftovers and had to know where it came from! Everything is so tasty and made fresh. Kid even liked it! They serve rolls, te Maki, nigiri and sashimi as well as soups, noodle bowls and tempura. If you want to try it all, I definitely suggest a bento box!

Great little resturaunt Even though their menus dont advertise gluten free items (would be nice if they added it though...) the server was very knowledgeable about which items can be made gluten free (celiac). They had options to substitute real crab (their imitation crab has wheat) for their rolls and provided me a gluten free soy sauce separately as well as serving the gluten free dish seperate from the others. I really enjoyed the experiance here and their protocols. Thank you for providing safe options

Good food, great prices and great service. One of the most reliable and affordable sushi places in town. While they do have some fancier dishes its not their main focus. Everything Ive tried on the menu is solid.

Been going here for years, the fish is always fresh and the service is always great. And with my dietary restrictions I still find enough to eat.

This place was better under the previous owners. Fresh seafood should not have a strong fishy after taste. It should not have an odour as well. Been a few times and each time its not busy. Should have taken the clue to not order seafood. Ended up vomiting the meal with diahrea. Lesson learned.

Our meal was surprisingly (and very pleasingly) delicious. We werent expecting a poor meal or bad service, its just that it is quite rare that a meal is as fresh, as delicious, and served as hot as our meal at Wasabi. Having lived in Japan for many years my bar for Japanese food is high. Wasabi cleared that bar effortlessly. The prices were fair and the service was second to none. We will definitely dine at Wasabi again.

Wasabi has some of the best sushi in Vernon. The prices are fair, the sushi is fresh and everything is so delicious. There are a lot of options on the menu so you can really order something to please everyones palate. The restaurant feels like your in a little slice of Japanese heaven. I always recommend Wasabi to everyone.

Edit: Our last visit here has made me rethink my previous review. While the service was quick and friendly, the sushi didn t match our past experiences. Rice was mushy and not well seasoned. The gomae was was underwhelming as well. Also, no Dinner boxes was disappointing. The price was on par with other places - about $20-$25 per person.

I love the ready to go takeout option. Quick and delicious. Prices are very reasonable for fresh gourmet sushi.

I came here for lunch while they were visiting & it was amazing! The atmosphere was great, Our waitress was phenomenal & the food was delicious (i would highly recommend the crispy crispy roll and the spicy California roll, We will definitely be back :)

Absolutely outstanding food. We had the chicken Udon soup, Prawn tempura and Veggies tempura. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be making this one of our go to places in Vernon.

Absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away by almost every bite. The food is spectacular, the Asian girl staff is incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is very cozy.

One of the best Sushi restaurants in Vernon. I havent had a bad experience, I use to go there once a week. I still would be, but have had to cut down take out spending. Very easy to spend 50+$ here but amazingly worth it. The Miso soup is A+

Highly recommend this restaurant. Family run. Staff is very thoughtful and know how to treat their customers. Food is wonderful. For a small restaurant it is better than some of the larger chains. These people care. Pls give them your business.

Until my last visit I was a regular customer and liked the food prepared there. I always ask and pay an upcharge of $4 per roll to get real crab meat instead of crab flavoured fish. The last Spider Roll I purchased proved to push the Real Crab a tad too far as I got integral crab legs, mostly shell and little meat! What are you guys thinking about? When doing the roll and putting that scrap in there, did you really think that was edible? That did it for me, you lost a customer...

Christmas Eve sushi from Wasabi is our tradition. They always have the order right and the ingredients are fresh and consistently delicious!

I took somebody here as this was the last Japanese restaurant she had yet to eat at in Vernon. This was my first time here since my friend Brianne worked here seven years ago. The server was super friendly and the food was really good. We got Mango rolls, Spicy veggie rolls, tofu yakisoba, a Vege Cone, a California Cone, Miso Soup, a can of Iced Tea, and a can of root beer. It came to $51 after tax and tip. Highly recommend this place if you find yourself on the north side of town! I dont normally like tofu, but the tofu in the tofu yakisoba tasted great.

The owners and staff are top notch! Always a warm greeting and you re made to feel welcome. Their food is the best in town, pricing is fair and unlike some other places, you aren t going to wait 1.5 - 2 hours. The whole staff work very hard and do an excellent job. I just can t say enough good stuff about this place! Well done, guys! If you haven t tried this place yet, DO IT NOW!!

Went for lunch the other day and got the Bento with Chicken Teriyaki and Cali roll. Fantastic service. Asked for extra ginger & got heaps. Wasn t the best tasting Cali roll, hence the 4 but would be willing to try other menu items!

What a fantastic restaurant, menu, awesome service, food to die for. If the prices were more affordable I would buy my fill and a lot more often. If the prices and/or portions were slanted more towards the customer I would give the 5th star.

The leave the phone off the hook all night....then theyre closed. Hope they make it through the winter without this former regular customer. Tired of struggling to spend my money there.

The sushi is mediocre, the price was very high priced. Sashimi ws cut so thin i could almost see through it, and the salmon was dry, maybe precut or freezer burnt. Super dissatisfied, wont be back. This is not $40 worth

Ive eaten here a few times and ordered take-out many more. The sushi is good, and the service is excellent. Every time I order take-out, its hardly ever more than a 30 minute wait and its always done on time. They havent messed up my order even once. Its not cheap, but its on par with other sushi places in the area.

Friendly service but the worst sushi we have ever eaten. Overpriced for serving size. Imitation crab for everything crab. Agedashi had a weird miso soup type sauce.

We ordered sushi rolls, gyoza and sashimi. The gyoza was pan fried and amazing. The sashimi was very fresh. If you are looking for a sushi place in Vernon, Wasabi is the best!

Definitely not high quality sushi as the website suggests. Midgrade at best. Had a variety of rolls and none of them packed good flavour. Texture of the rolls was as if they had been sitting in a fridge overnight. Dry and chewy. Not worth the money. Going to stick with sushi kawa in Vernon.

Fabulous sushi! We order the large platter for 4 (3 guys 1 girl) for take out. There was plenty and just enough left over. Price was reasonable. The sushi did not disappoint. Generous amounts of sauces and wasabi. We have then an hour and a half notice and was ready for pick up upon arrival. Service was fast and friendly. I would order again and would definitely recommend!

My kids and I had a terrible dine-in experience. First we were given a table that even my kids wished to be moved to another table that was at least clean. Second, we were served a dynamite roll that was not even fresh (It looks like a roll that has been in their display for the day) that my kids almost puked by the sight of it. Third, Ive noticed their prices are getting more expensive that dont match their service. Finally, their customer service really sucks. I remember one time I was trying to make an order over the phone, the person who was taking my order was rude and impatient. This place used to be my familys favorite to go to for sushi, but not anymore. Oh Kims in downtown Vernon is now our favorite place to go.

Waitress didnt do a thing. Didnt refill waters, didnt give me a dish to mix my wasabi ....gave me wasabi from a table of people that left. Never had such loosely rolled sushi. Dry. I eat alot of sushi and this is one of the worst Ive ever had. Old browned vegetables in our other dish. I would give rate a zero star if it were possible. I honestly have not a single good thing to say. Must be friends and family writing the other reviews. Kawakubo has great sushi and very nice atmosphere.
