Friday, October 25th, 1 am. Walking up to the door, myself and the others infront of me looked confusedly at the speaker, wondering if it was malfunctioning. Unfortunately it wasnt, as the same screeching was coming from the other speakers inside. Im not actually sure if there was a human DJ or if it was some sort of poorly trained AI, but in the half an hour I was there they mixed Losing It by Fisher into early 2000s pop not once, but twice. A move even the most beginner of bedroom DJs knows not to make. Aside from the absolutely terrible track choices, Im honestly not sure if the DJ was playing poor quality music files or if your speakers are actually blown. It sounded essentially like a phone speaker from 2015 amplified to the point of pain. I left with my ears ringing and my voice hoarse from trying to have a conversation with the person next to me. I just want to let the management know, nobody liked that. I think the ambience would have been better if the speakers spontaneously combusted and all one could hear was the semi intelligible conversations of the 1 am crowd. Also, youre doing your staff a serious disservice by having them work without earplugs at that volume level. Do better please.

Good for a late night drink, they are open later than most bars in the city. Food is very ok and it can be a little busy if you don t get there an hour or two before closing. Staff is nice, the dj was good so it s good for a late night drink with friends.

Wanted to try their butter chicken poutine for the first time and waited weeks for an opportunity to go.. whole please is closed on Labour Day weekend for a wedding awesome who tf gets married in a bar? No Indication when the place is looked up, spent 40 mins walking there for no reason

Every time I go to the mint I run into Ryan. He is like Steve Irwin. That is if Steve Irwin was still alive and drunk. He will offer to cut your hair and is very knowledgeable about animals. All the staff and customers seem to know and like him. Charlie told me some stuff about him that made me like him even more. His friend Matt is ok too.

Loved everything but was sad that Ryan was not there. Had heard that s the spot he resides now.

Ive visited The Mint about a dozen times since 2017... the kitchen is open late... maybe the latest in the city now, so if youre hungry... you can count on it being open. The venue has a good vibe and its very popular with the local crowd. Its got a decent ambience and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive; as such, there can be a wait for a seat. Ill echo a previous reviewer - the food and drinks do the trick but at the price... more is desired. *revised Aug 2024 Theyve added late-night specials, which is great. Unfortunately, Ive found it hit and miss with the drinks recently. On my last visit, my mohito tasted off -- like a rum and sprite. I brought it to my servers attention and they replied, that they make them all night which lead to revising this review from 4 to 3/5 s.

Unbelievable food Their butter chicken is the best thing in the world I asked for some extra Dahl and they accommodated me free of charge . Best food and customer service in Victoria . I wish I could give the a 100 star review but can only leave a 5Star

Always a great time at the mint but I was exceptionally impressed by our service from Levi tonight. He was quickly sat with a full room late on a Sunday (early Monday) and despite rocking it solo, he handled it with aplomb. Providing excellent and personal service to our table in a proper crush.

Billy was a menace on the bar in the best way! Speed, technique and enchanting service. Truly one of kind. 10/10 would come again the rest of the staff are killing it as well clearly hustling to get people what they need when they need it. Best place in the city truly unique.

This was such a great time! Had a surprise birthday dinner for my partner and they were so great! Our server Dan was efficient and so friendly! Everything was so delicious and everyone (16 people) were so happy! They even let us bring in an outside cake and stored it in the back for us. Dan even came out with it as we sang happy birthday. Thank you for being all so great and thank you to the kitchen for making us all happy and full!

We visited the mint restaurant for comedy night on a Wednesday. The quiet time of the week for such a place except for the comedy side which was very very busy. The food we had was very good and plentiful. The service was good but the servers were understaffed. The comedians were mostly great. This my only experience with the Mint. From what I hear from people we talked to its a late at night licensed restaurant that gets hopping after other places close and it caters to Western and Nepalalese cuisine. Try the fish pakora. Omg so good Dietary restrictions: A lot of the items are Gluten Free or friendly.

The comedy was hilarious and the food was incredible! Not to mention our server Charleen who was so energetic and fun! Ask her for a surprise cocktail!

Pretty tasty. Bartender was delightful! Door dash pic shows Naan bread on curry plate but have to order for 3$ extra ... unfortunately, when I see something in a picture I assume it is coming with all the other items in the pic..EVEN if its not in the menu description....thats how my brain(and everyone else who was here for this order) works(ed). And when I saw the option to add Naan or garlic naan I assumed that was ON TOP of the naan in the picture. So, now, here I sit with these very saucey curries and absolutely no bread vehicle to enjoy. So, please take items out of pictures if they are not automatically included in the base price for dummies like me. Thanks

First time there. As vegans there was a couple options. The food was tasty, we ordered the curry and sticky rice plate. Our server was very nice and helpful, he tried to guide us through the menu options etc. When eating curry one of course has to get Naan bread. Unfortunately we were told it has milk in it? No other options or choices? Curry without Naan? Most Naan is not made with milk. Not sure why there wasnt a supply also of non milk Naan bread for customers? What if customers are lactose intolerant? Vegan? Or just dont like dairy? Nice ambiance but very noisy. Specifically one blonde female server. Banging tables, chairs around, shouting instead of talking etc. Appeared to be oblivious to customers trying to eat and talk in peace. All in all a great location, good food and potential to be a GREAT place. But, still has a ways to go. Focus on the vibe, the customers needs and staff etiquette. Then it will go from a good place to a great place.

If you guys are selling this food, please may as well just give up! Garlic naan came in a paper bag folded. Tastes like frozen naan reheated. Lamb Curry was stale and tasted like it s been frozen in 2019 and reheated. $50 to someone who can guess what the third item was! Seriously it was disgusting food. Wish there was -5 rating.

Every aspect of this meal was fantastic. The environment was clean and pleasant to the senses. The personnel and greeter were quite friendly.

Excellent meal overall! The restaurant was a little noisy for my preference but the meal more than made up for it. The momos are a must for appies. Each curry dish comes with plenty of sides and the naan is warm and thick. Great drinks selection as well.

First time coming here, hoping to have a chill hangout with a friend for her birthday. The staff blasted bad music the whole night, even after we asked to turn it down a few times. It just got louder and louder. As a person with sensory issues, this felt hellish. It felt like the staff was attempting to get us to leave by blasting the music so loud we couldnt talk to the person next to you. If they wanted us to leave they could have communicated that instead of passive aggressively trying to get us to leave. Would not come back. The waitress herself was nice enough but the vibe of this place was trash.

All the service, servers and bartenders here are great. Good food and good atmosphere. Had the pleasure of having a arcel bartend for me tonight. She was very good at pouring beer.

Food was great drinks were BETTER. The Guatemalan cutie behind the bar, a 4 foot 10 giant id call her. She s so funny and cool and just has that one in a million magic touch. I ordered a mojito then 3 more, they were THAT good. If you go be sure that Aricel makes your drinks. Oh and a seat at the bar is the best seat in the house.

The food isnt bad, I just find it an odd mix and nothing quite what I want in a loungy-kinda place. The service is always great. I often go there for the comedy shows, which is why I end up there even though I dont love the food selection. Others must however, as its been in Victoria forever. :)

If you wanna wait 30 minutes before ordering a drink and get a water this is the place for you! I was asked if I was seated by a host when there was no host and was told it was going to be a while

An excellent subterranean late-night stop for drinks and food! Cool vibe and an interesting menu featuring Tibetan food, as well as cheese and charcuterie plates etc. Food is good, but really youre there for the atmosphere and drinks menu, and to catch comedy night or the in-house DJ. Be sure to check out the slightly risqué art, too. Definitely not accessible as you have to descend a long flight of stairs to get there and can be ear-splittingly loud as the night progresses, but still a go-to for many Victorians.

Imagine this: its a Friday night at 11pm - and as much as Victoria is a cute town, there really isnt that many places to get any food late night that isnt fast food or pizza. Enter The Mint. A full curry menu through late night!! Incredible. Ordered the lamb curry plate and it was delicious.

Butter chicken poutine is the best poutine on the island (sorry Belle Patate). Im Quebexican and I approve.

Attended an improv night. Did not eat food but what I saw come to other tables looked pretty standard. Atmosphere was good. Pleasant staff. What you would expect from a venue with live entertainment.

Really nice ambience and lovely vibe. Especially love the convenience of the location and characterful entrance! Nonetheless, nothing stood out to me when it came to food or drinks. Quite overpriced for what it turned out to be, in my opinion. But kuddos to the lovely staff who work here who were nothing but kind to us!

Enjoyed the location and atmosphere inside as well as the Stinger cocktail. It took longer than expected for two plates to share and the BBQ wings were far too spicy. One thing to note is that their WiFi requires Facebook, so if youve left that dark corner of the Internet youll have to stay disconnected.

Ive been here many times and I have never been treated so horribly before. I will never ever come back. We made a reservation and came in to have dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 7pm and the lights were so dark. I know mint is usually pretty dark but this was impossible to read the menu dark and we were the only people there so I asked them to turn up the lights a bit and the server, a short guy with a beard was so rude he told us he could suggest a different restaurant I hope the owner knows that you would rather turn the only people there for dinner away rather than do your job. Zero stars. We went to Varsha a couple streets over and it was great!

Everything was good until the end of the meal. We suggested the server write down our orders as we were a decently large group, and that was ignored. When the time came to pay the bill, we were charged for a meal and a beer that never existed and was a mistake from the house but we had to pay. The food was good though but trash service.

we ordered a pitcher of white sangria and our server logan brought out a pitcher of soda water when i asked for a replacement he was snarky and made me feel like it was my fault? then our replacement came and tasted like soda water with a splash of schnapps so we asked for a replacement again which would have been the first time if they had brought it out in the first place so i asked again and they said the sangria is not supposed to taste like wine in restaurants ???? which it is lol, then he took it away again giving us attitude every time he came and said ill take the drink off your bill but thats all i can do for drinks like thats crazy to cut us off without even giving us an option for a replacement or anything or an opportunity to order any drinks,The food was fine but they forgot one of our orders that never came, no water refills, and didn t check on us once, there was never a point where we were disrespectful or rude to our server we are a table of servers and customer service workers, would never be mean to anyone working in the service industry, so it takes alot for us to write a bad review but this experience was really bad:(

Just finished eating here and the service was awful. Our server Logan was rude and seemed bothered by any request our table had. We ordered a pitcher of sangria (which is $32 btw) and when it arrived at the table it was quite literally just soda water in ice. We told Logan who responded with I can guarantee there s six ounces of liquor in there . We asked him to try a sip which then prompted him to take back what he said and brought over another pitcher. This one had alcohol in it but tasted off and very watered down. When we brought it up to him he said fine I ll take it off the bill but that s all I can do for drinks . He had an attitude and didn t allow us to order any drinks? He also told us that sangria in a restaurant isn t supposed to taste like wine which was a very confusing statement. We had essentially been cut off before consuming any alcohol. We ordered food which was fine but an item didn t show up which we would ve mentioned earlier if Logan had checked on us throughout the evening at all. Very disappointed in my experience and will not be returning

Wow. What can I say. Heart of Victoria right here. Went in for wings, stayed for the show. Billy and (Im sorry I couldnt get your name <3, youre beautiful!) Served me with wings (delicious!) But the best was the atmosphere! My candle was out, Billy hooked me up, I had so much help setting it into its holder!! So much fun, met such nice people!! When things got shady, Billy fixed it, perfectly. I recommend this place for a great beer, and better wings! Dont be shy, experience Victorias heart !

Really bad experience. After dinner my son returned to get his wallet that was left at the table and as he politely asked the clients sitting there if theyd seen it the manager came and asked him to get the hell out of there. Expect this kind of service or go elsewhere.

4 stars all around. Lots of good things to say about this place. The staff for the most part are extremely friendly, great at what they do, and generally speaking they treat people well (other than one or two people that are exceptions, but I pay them very little mind.) The food is quite good but not amazing, definitely a bit overpriced for what it is. The atmosphere is pretty awesome, and they have some form of entertainment every night, be it live music from a DJ or whatever, comedy nights, etc. Definitely worth checking this place out. <3

Bartender took $100 from me, never brought the drink, nor the change, nor drink. Dont recommend as they apparently cant return change for your bill or bring your what you ordered. I understand being busy but you bring people what they ordered or you dont take orders if you cant fill them. Im out $100 and down a drink and food. 0/10 experience.

I used to love this place when I lived in Victoria. Went this past weekend. The cocktails were great, but the food I had was truly terrible. I had the peanut sauce noodles with tofu. It was drowning in sauce and it didnt taste great. I dont think Ive ever seen anything like it. So much sauce. If you order it, dont order half sauce, order 1/10 the sauce. It was stupid saucy. My friends lamb curry was good. The service was poor, unfortunately. The ambiance was ok.

We were very excited to visit this place , even cut our other dinner reservation short to come visit the mint. Heard decent things about this online so thought it would be great to experience. Very disappointed actually. Drinks were poor , watered down sangría, food mediocrity to it best, ambience the same , dj music was not even with the theme. Service was good though , both service girl were doing a great job. We left shortly , definitely not coming back. Sorry maybe it us but it was underwhelming for us.

The Mint hosts fantastic comedy shows. We love coming early and grabbing dinner before moving into the smaller side room to enjoy comedy. The team will transfer your bill and continue to serve you food and/or drinks during the show. Team is very friendly and our friends who are comedians say they re treated very well by the whole mint team. Diary free and vegetarian options available!!

We came just for the food, however the ambiance did seem right for a few drinks if your looking for it. We tried the curries and cilantro sticky rice. The curries was more of and Indian style, and the sticky rice was not a traditional sticky rice, but more like a sushi sticky one. Overall taste was fairly good on both our orders.. food was fresh. Staff was friendly.

Came here on comedy night and although the show was lackluster, everything else was great. Drinks and food were cheap for Victoria, service was good, and the atmosphere was cool.

More of a student pub vibe then restaurant. Despite seeing a fair few members of staff, service was exceptionally slow. Was asked about first orders after being sat down for about 25 odd mins. Chicken curry was 50% sauce, 30% rice and 20% chicken. Looked great but very meager portions. Definitely wouldnt return.

I ordered chicken fingers and fries and the portion was so small and both the fries and chicken tasted horrible. The atmosphere was great and the staff were amazing but the food could be better. 17$ for 4 small chicken fingers and a small bowl of cold fries is awful and Ill never order that again. Honestly might never order any food besides dessert moving forward.

Great experience and loved the smells that came from the food. It is a closer middle Eastern Asian food hybrid which is fun and different. The cocktails were all unique and the server was able to make something off the menu and still make something amazing.

Food was good, we (2 persons total) got the bread plate, curry, something else and two drinks. After seating, we waited a long time to get water. Took even longer to track down the waitress to order. We got there first and got serve last. We were the only Asians. Take that information how you want but it felt weird. We didn t come back. Definitely didn t live up to the hype. Atmosphere was great though.

Knew this place since its opening way back when as it took over the spot of one of my former favorite teenage stomping grounds (Victoria Underground Onramp Cybercafé) but never really had the chance to go in. I made an exception since I saw the sign for their appy hour which is 17:00-19:00 which is refreshingly late considering how I rush out after work to downtown and usually miss it with the bus commute. The double mojito & the chicken poutine are okay, but the momos are amazing. I was recommended chicken which I had but the pork ones taste the best. I like the ambiance and I do see some areas where I do remembered the old days. Perhaps someone should start up old meets from decades past in here. I wouldnt mind having some nostalgia resurfacing in this joint. The bartenders real sweet so dont be shy and go for the bar seating. Parking: Street parking is free after 6pm. My best suggestion is to use either Centennial Square or View St parkades and park in their designated 1 hr free spots if youre able to secure a spot. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible unless they have an elevator hidden somewhere or an alternative entrance which I doubt they have?

One of the more tasty Indian restaurants in the city, a bit pricey, but considering most other cheaper Indian restaurants I actually dont enjoy as much, Id say its worth it. Everything was on point. The naan bread wasnt chewy, it tasted good, the butter chicken was rich and spiced well, the chicken itself was good.

A different place on the boardwalk than usual. It is recommended to come earlier than usual. Good drinks at reasonable prices

Always a good time with good food

Getting a fantastic gluten-free meal at midnight - yes please! Ginger rice with tofu was so good, and heard great things about the salad with goat cheese too. Service was excellent: quick, friendly, and vibe was great. We shall be back!

A solid 4 star, based on great service and a tasty meal. Ginger cilantro sticky rice was very good!

This place has such a vibe. Great staff and mouth watering Indian food. Good thing is they open everyday till 2am for drinks and food right in downtown.

Incredible hide away spot in Victoria with amazing cocktails and entertainment. Wednesday nights are comedy nights for 20$ !! A really great time. Food

Atmosphere is amazing but service and food was aweful. I asked the waitress for a 2 seated table with my girlfriend and she said it was for big parties and seated us at 4 seat table instead. Messed up the order twice and hostled my girlfriend. Aweful place.

Surprisingly good curries. Lacking in selection but what they do offer is excellent. Chill atmosphere in their subterranean space. Amazing service. Friendly staff. The Mint is quickly becoming a regular take out/dine in spot for the fam.

First time visit. Best thing is that it is open late Food is decent, and a very homely taste instead of the usual restaurant chains.

Only restaurant serving food around midnight still. The thunder spaghetti was top5 pastas I ve ever ordered and I m Italian. The Fries are shoestring style and super crispy, best chicken fingers in town. The menu isn t overly large but they DO NOT MISS. Live music was playing. Was the only place serving alcohol as late as it was. Couldn t even find another dine in restaurant downtown on a Monday. I WILL be back. 5/5

Good place to eat Latin food

Not sure what this restaurant is. Kind of East Indian that serves spagheti and poutine. Not real naan which drops them a star right off the bat. Food was fine just not amazing. Server was very good. Everything was mediocre. Sorry but wont be back.

My experience was good. The food was actually quite good. They are understaffed for servers so service is poor. They dont answer their phones either. But the food is genuinely good, the ambience is better than most Indian restaurants. I would recommend but again keep expectations low for service.

This place is always hopping, the other night had a dj. The food is great...curried chicken poutine. It was very good. Also the Spicy Noodle soup, mmmm and do not forget the tasty little Tibetan Momos. Almost forgot to mention, the staff are great! I always feel welcome, great people watching, warm (in fact we went to another place prior and were treated so badly by the doorman we left) and went where we knew we would be welcome. We are good customers too, we always spend more then $100 and tip well. Too bad for the other place!

The food was insane. Has been some time since I had such a good tofu and the peanut sauce is to die for. Can highly recommend the ginge cilantro sticky rice
