Awesome food and wonderful service. I thought we got a photo of the duck confit and waffles but didn't (was yummy though). Our little one's request was honored (so happy).
The best smoked salmon Benny I've had in Victoria, and I've lived here for 8 years and been to countless brunch places! 10/10 will eat here again.
Amazing food with great prices. The staff even sang happy birthday to my twins when they brought out their meals. Authentic retro style vibe with amazingly tasty modern eats. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available. Would highly recommend this place! It is super popular- you may have a small wait, but it is WORTH IT! Be sure to check them out!
I recently enjoyed brunch at Ruby and found it to be a pleasant experience overall. The dishes we ordered were quite good, though there were a few notable points. The salmon Benedict on a croissant was a bit too rich for my taste; I’d suggest opting for a bagel instead if you’re considering this dish. The berry waffle was delightful, but the lemon cream cheese topping proved too sweet for my palate. The combination of berry syrup, lemon cream, and whipped cream created an overwhelming sweetness. Despite these minor issues, Ruby is definitely a solid choice for a brunch or breakfast outing.
The Ruby is connected to the Hotel ZED main building. It’s a small but nice restaurant. I enjoyed my breakfast. Server was friendly and efficient. My food came out quick.
The Ruby is an excellent spot for breakfast inside the popular Hotel Zed. Great casual place - don’t miss the Arancini Benny, it’s outstanding! And one of the few places that serves shredded hash browns (on request).
It's ok, nothing to rave about during our visit. Breakfast is more of a hyped up sugar Shack with a few items that are instagram worthy. We went with more of the traditional non sugar foods. A decent selection of bennies and hash dishes that we were looking for. I was told it's the go to place for bennies, ok then. My poached eggs, one was over done and the other was ok. Skip the croissant as the base, it doesn't stand up well to the added toppers. Hollandaise sauce slightly too acidic, you get that lip pucker but it's not terrible. I went with the house made sausage and that part was very tasty. The caramelized onions were really overpowering in this Benny dish. The hash browns were devine, excellent flavour and crunch. I would order just a plate of those, yes they are that good. My husband picked a hash and it was only ok, the hash was overcooked and he had the same poached egg problem as I did. Coffee ouch motor oil would be it's best description ,Neither of us could manage to finish the cup. Staff very friendly and attentive. Even with a busy restaurant they came around with water multiple times and always smiling. The atmosphere is ok but so noisy, the tables are packed in too many in my opinion. So overall, would we return, no.
Ruby on Douglas - Victoria I recently had brunch at Ruby on Douglas in Victoria and overall, it was a fairly enjoyable experience. The wait time was reasonable, which was a relief given how busy it can get during brunch hours. The restaurant has a vibrant and welcoming vibe that immediately sets a positive tone for the meal. We ordered the eggs benny and chicken waffles, both of which were delicious. The eggs benny was perfectly cooked with a creamy hollandaise sauce that had just the right amount of tang. The chicken waffles were a delightful combination of crispy and savory, paired perfectly with the syrup. The portions were generous, and the presentation was appealing, making the food even more enjoyable. However, the cappuccino was a significant letdown. It was far too bitter for my taste and lacked the smooth, rich flavor I expect from a good cappuccino. Additionally, it was disappointing to see that there was no latte art, which is something I always look forward to as it adds a nice touch to the coffee experience. To top it off, the server accidentally spilled some of the cappuccino while serving it, which was a bit off-putting. Despite the disappointing cappuccino, the overall atmosphere of Ruby on Douglas made up for it. The decor is stylish, and the ambiance is lively without being too noisy. The staff was friendly and attentive, which added to the positive experience. I would give Ruby on Douglas a solid 4 out of 5 stars and would recommend it for the food and the ambiance, but perhaps not for the coffee.
Awesome service and great food! Loved it!
Loved the duck bennies
Real hollandaise sauce, nuff said.
Fantastic breakfast restaurant. Retro style, great service, great coffee.
Love this place!
Excellent 1970s themed restaurant. Fun atmosphere, reasonable prices, good food, attentive, but not overbearing service. I would highly recommend.
I ordered a bagel and smoked salmon with egg and cup of fresh fruit. They forgot to put the smoked salmon with the order. I called them multiple times to give them the opportunity to correct their mistake but no one answered the call. Bad service and unprofessional. Look at the video to see how this 25$ order looks so awful! Avoid at all cost.
Oh my...what a find..found on Google search..small place but full of nostalgia and charm..waitress was delightful.. Was visiting from Ontario Canada. Was at a local hotel. Food was great.. Food : 5/5
This place is small, but fantastic
We picked this place only because its opening at 8 am,but now we are super happy we had our breakfast there. Great place, great food, great service!
The food is great, Eat the berry bowl real good.. servers are very polite and attentive.. also food comes relatively quick.. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available
I had a fantastic breakfast experience here! The menu offered a great variety of options, from classic favorites to more unique choices. The food was delicious, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The eggs were done just right. What made the experience even better was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was to our liking. Overall, a wonderful way to start the day! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great breakfast spot with excellent service.
This gem of a breakfast/brunch spot is out of this world. They have the restaurant trifecta perfectly dialed in - quality well thought out food - friendly attentive service and a super groovy well ventilated atmosphere. Do not skip this spot!
We came in while staying at the Zed, and were pleasantly surprised to see The Ruby as the best rated brunch place in our area. The restaurant is connected to the very hip and cozy Zed lobby, but with so many tables it s definitely a squish - that is my only criticism. I got an oat chai latte and the skinny hash and it was seriously amazing, not only taste-wise but also very well rounded nutritionally. After eating a lot of junk during our city adventure, I walked out of the Ruby refreshed and feeling like a million bucks. My partner had the special avocado croast (on a croissant) and was stuffed too. Prices are reasonable for what you get. We will be back!
Always a tasty breakfast
Amazing service, atmosphere and food. Their house-made jalapeno sriracha is also not to be missed.
Awesome food, the duck was great, beautiful orange egg yolks, delicious specials.
Great place for brunch with amazing strawberry jam. I love that they spin vinyl for music. Service and atmosphere are fabulous.
Great food, lots of delicious choices. Its a small groovy place, there can be significant waits to get in at prime times. Plan ahead, its worth the wait. Unless its really busy youre generally waiting in the retro decor lobby. Fantastic all around!
Todays specials a hit all round. Jenna is the very best server anywhere.
Wow best breakfast in Victoria and surrounding area!!! The food was amazing it came quickly the servers Jenna, Shay were attentive to us the entire meal and very sweet to our children. Very impressed so many options and everything looked fantastic. Thank you so much for a great morning. GO HERE!!!! Dietary restrictions: Tons of options for gluten free!
Great little stop on my way to work. Good food and service
This place is always amazing, especially if you are Celiac. The gluten-free options are all absolutely top-notch. Amazing food and flavors, combined with excellent service, it is our favorite!
Service was great, food was delicious
Every time I ve come here to eat I get something new and have never been disappointed. The service is worth the up front wait in the lobby for a table, and I could go back in the kitchen and kiss every chef on the forehead for the delicious meals they create. Best brunch spot in Vic
Like the food here a lot, and the retro style look they have going on in the restaurant
Strawberry waffle was delicious and so was the mocha but look at how much was in the cup
Today was my first time ordering from them. They gave me more food than I ordered, which has never ever happened from any restaurant before in my entire life. The food was made fresh, with high quality ingredients, was super filling with fantastic portion sizes and was incredibly delicious too. My new go-to breakfast spot! I m a customer for life.
Great place to stop for breakfast. Kid friendly, fun, and delicious
I ordered the vegan breakfast, and was nervous because I ve tried all kinds of vegan options for breakfasts and they haven t all been the best but this meal was so freaking good. Definitely recommend.
The Arancini Benny is an awesome and unique offering... definitely recommended, especially with the house made hot sauces. Make sure to get a punch card so youll eventually get a free main!
Fancy diner with a little extra: music from records, fancy menus, fancy prices. It was very good breakfast, but causing a bigger hole in my wallet than expected. Go there for the fancy extra. This is not an average breakfast diner, this place is special
Service was friendly and helpful, food was delicious and my americano was creamily perfect.
Best salmon eggs Benny ever! Sorry no photo. You will to come see for yourself.
Nice Hippie Hôtel style, most beautiful hotel lobby I ve seen in a long time but the breakfast place was more then disappointing. Hollandaise sauce tasted like a powder mixture, the coffee was burn and the server were slow but friendly.
Incredible breakfast. Breakfast tacos were !!!
Excellent service, delicious food, great music.
Cozy comfortable delicious dishes with a welcoming eclectic environment to eat and want to stay some maybe watch the traffic to and from town!
Visited for the first time on Sunday, wait time was reasonable. Was blown away at how attentive and kind the staff were. Great food. We both got Earl Grey Teas with lavender syrup and I would recommend. Will return for sure. Vegetarian options: Not as many vegetarian options, but they do easily offer subs
The food was delicious, they were very helpful to make sure I was happy with what I was getting. My server let me try the hollandaise sauce before ordering . The meals were filling and tasty. I definitely recommend it. I will be back. I remember my servers name but she was great!
OMG! Why have I never been here before??? And I ve lived in Victoria for 5 years now!! This is hands down the BEST breakfast I ve ever had. My husband and I left this cute little restaurant so satisfied and we talked about it the whole day!! We both had the features of the week and it was mind blowing!! The waffles were literally crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.. with the coconut cream cheese and whipped cream.. ugh my mouth is watering just thinking about it lol The other dish we had was the chicken in a mushroom gravy on a bed of hashbrowns with medium poached eggs, the flavour was so so good! Such a lovely experience and we re definitely going back there SOOON!
One of the best eggs Benny I had, everyone was friendly attentive and my water glass never got half empty, 10/10 breakfast spot.
Love the 60 s vibe, the breakfast is amazing, creative and filling! Everyone working there is constantly making sure you are well taken care of. Definitely coming back!
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Nothing really special though.
I had the most amazing vegan hash at the Ruby on Douglas seriously recommend. Great staff great service too! Vegetarian options: Vegan and gluten free options
Fabulous food, lovely staff. Great place for a nice meal.
Always a good time! Great staff, great food, Killer Tunes Dietary restrictions: Lots of celiac options! Food : 5/5 |
Best chicken and waffles Ive ever had! Always stop by here when Im in the area!
This place is so so so sooooo nice!! I have to say it: the service and friendliness of people in Victoria is top notch, they really are the best in hospitality and to make you feel welcomed! The food also AMAZING I could barely breathe after this brunch, and the taste- delicious!
Step into a culinary realm where ordinary brunch transforms into an extraordinary saga of flavors and sensations! My recent encounter with the limited-time Hamburger Egg Benedict dish at Ruby on Douglas, transcended mere breakfast it was a gastronomic odyssey! Picture this: a delicate symphony of poached eggs, gently nestled atop a juicy all Canadian beef patty and a toasted brioche bread, all drenched in a decadent hollandaise sauce that danced upon my taste buds like a maestro conducting a masterpiece. Each bite was a revelation, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that elevated the humble egg to celestial heights! But alas, dear reader, let me lament the cruel fate that has befallen us! For this celestial creation, this culinary marvel, is but a fleeting muse, a transient dream that vanishes with the setting sun. How can we bear the thought of never again experiencing the sublime ecstasy of that perfect breakfast dish? The mere contemplation is enough to bring tears to the eyes and sorrow to the soul! As I pen this review, my heart weighs heavy with the realization that future patrons may never have the privilege of savoring this divine dish. Oh, the injustice of it all! To tantalize our taste buds with such brilliance, only to snatch it away like a thief in the night it is a travesty of the highest order! So I implore you, dear owners of this fine establishment, make this dish a permanent feature to your menu. So future patrons can revel in its glory. Do not let this dish be a distant memory; a whispered tale of gastronomic bliss lost to the sands of time...
Great place for breakfast retro 70s fel heck they play vynal 33s had there huevos rancheros a unique take on the dish but vert nice. Food
The banana waffles, omg, the banana waffles. Also the chicken breakfast tacos and the duck hash, delish. Thats all Ive tried but I will be back.
Super bummed on this one. Walking in I saw a plate of pale mush and thought yeesh wha is that , but after reading the menu I was certain that what I d order (the chicken hash) would be a delightful voyage for the taste buds. Unfortunately I was wrong. When the food arrived I realized that to my horror, the chicken hash WAS the plate of pale mush I d spotted walking in. As my girlfriend said so many ingredients yet so bland and that unfortunately sums it up.
Good food and service. Nice atmosphere, a bit small and sometimes theres a wait.
Awsome. Recommend
One of the best breakfast joints in Victoria. Amazing flavours, and the service always sparkles.
Google Reviews has asked me to do this. I walked past The Ruby a few weekends ago while waiting for my vehicle to be seen at a local dealer. It looked very inviting, with numerous people who seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food looked delicious except for the mouthful that belonged to a man who was chewing with his mouth open. Or talking. I have no idea, as I did not stop. Four stars; looked very inviting!
The duck waffle, devine
In almost every way it matches its sister on Johnson with one downfall. It is a smaller space, but they, for obvious reasons (not being a jerk, rent isnt cheap for anyone in this city) have really crammed it tight with tables. The ambient chatter, even when only half full, overtakes the atmosphere. It feels loud and cramped by comparison. If the other location didnt exist, I would probably be more generous. Tl;Dr- its good, go there, eat, now.
Amazing restaurant with wonderful delicious food and drinks. Very friendly and kind employees. I really appreciate and recommend this place. If you want taste a fantastic experience don t hesitate to stop by.
Love this little breakfast spot. Food is always fantastic and the service is impeccable. 10/10
All our dishes were excellent. My duck leg confit waffle was amazing. I recommend stopping here for breakfast.
It is a beautiful cozy place. The food is delicious. The servers are very kind. It has a feeling of being transported to a different time but not old. It is a little hard to find it at first but once in is a great experience
We were seated right by the door and it was so cold. We needed time to order and the lady came back after soooooooooo long. The corn bread was not good on the Benny, not worth the money AT ALL. Service: not good, didn t get a refill of water until after we were done our meal. We needed items and couldn t get anyone s attention to request for it. I would give this NO STAR. The best thing was the type writer and their decor.
Fantastic place for breakfast. Luckily we got there just before it got busy and had a great table for 4. The coffee was always topped up and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the acai bowl.
Great food and services, no fee parking lot is available.
Duck. Confit. And. Waffles.
Great little restaurant on Douglas. Food and atmosphere were amazing. Great friendly staff as well.
Iv been here several times and have never been disappointed. Food is of high quality, very tasty and excellent portion size. Will definitely go back again and recommend this place. Very friendly staff who are attentive. My only complaint is that I want everything on the menu. Parking: Plenty of parking to the rear.
Great local spot with delicious breakfast food, good coffee, and fantastic service.
happy your renovations are done
WOW, that was an amazing Christmas Eve breakfast/lunch. Brisket Yorkie Benny was an incredible meal. Dont ever forget this restaurant when visiting Victoria
This place is amazing. Fantastic staff, Jenna served us and she was both professional and friendly. Food was high quality, fresh and was served in a very timely manner. The chicken soup is to die for and the fries just mmmmmhhhhmmmm. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good food and amazing service. Thank you folks for taking good care of us.
Went to Rubys expecting amazing service and food. After waiting for our table, we asked for espresso and the machine was broken offered ice coffee instead. Took 30 mins to come taken our order and when our food arrived one order was missing. Duck confit was salty and dry. Tasted like it was bought at Costco vs being made in house. Waffles were burnt. Took additional 15 mins to get our bill.
If you have a leisurely 2 hours for a single course, enjoy lightly charred waffles, generously salted duck, a surprise appearance of cilantro or iced coffee in winter (as theres no espresso), then this your place! Dietary restrictions: Not all ingredients are listed on menu - notably cilantro in my experience
A wonderfully small diner, that feels and tastes like home cooking, with quasi retro / steampunk decor and 45 records playing over the speakers. I tossed up getting the chicken and waffles, but settled on the fried chicken eggs benedict and was not disappointed. Everything was perfectly spicy and I was surprised when it came out on a healthy size of corn bread (personal favorite) and a special spicy hollandaise. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, portions were just right to stuff you, and the taste was amazing. 100% recommended if you want a great breakfast that you will walk away from perfectly satiated.
We stayed at Hotel Zed in 2019 and stopped at the Ruby for breakfast then. I ordered the Duck Benedict which has removed In My Memory ever since. I have looked for excuses to get there again and finally had an opportunity yesterday. It was every bit as good as I remembered. Full marks
Our Breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent
Nice little diner atmosphere with music on vinyl playing. Food was outstanding. Duck and waffles was fantastic. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Even the coffee was great. This is definitely a top breakfast spot in Victoria.
A hip little joint. The server was happy and game, to entertain all comers. The food was good and the vibe was peaceful. Chill music, and classic decor. So, why not?
Ive only had one meal here but Im willing to bet every visit is a five star breakfast experience! (I believe Jess was our servers name, she is incredible. Funny, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu) -I had a baileys and coffee (amazing!), -I had an omelette (there are so many unique toppings to choose from, *choose any 3*) Their hot sauces are so good, I recommend the medium hot one (its green) You can bet there is something for everyone here! The ONLY thing I wasnt 100% in love with was the cheddar, but Im prob picky and will just choose diff topping next time. It didnt ruin the meal at all, and this is DEFINITELY my new go-to place. You must try!
Very surprising place. Have walked past it many times and never really given it much thought. Was looking around on maps for a place and came across it. After looking at the menu, which is quite interesting and very enticing. I decided i had to try it. Will definately be back to try more of the menu.
Always great food (and music). House made hot sauce is amazing. Menu has great variety.
First time there was delicious service was awesome.
Nice location!
What an awesome little gem hidden in plain sight, lol! Didnt have to wait too long for a table. Service was top notch, friendly, and prompt. Im a Waffle / Pancake girl and The Ruby did not disappoint me. Caramelized bananas , roasted pecans and bourbon syrup, on top of a stack of mouth watering waffles . Hubby had an omelet with bacon , mushrooms , and cheese . Thank you Ruby!!!!
Great little restaurant on Douglas across from Mayfair Mall! Friendly, efficient staff, delicious food, reasonable prices! Thanks Ruby!!!! Food : 5/5
Everything we ordered was fantastic. I had the pulled pork hash. Friend had the fried chicken Benedict. Staff was super friendly and attentive, and though it was busy theres a cozy waiting area.
Amazing, showed up hungry. Left stuffed. Had the breakfast tacos. Forgot to take picture(was so hungry lol). Music is fantastic and great volume all vinyl! All the staff were super friendly and happy. Some were dancing to the music and all smiles. Great way to start the day..10/10 will return.
Really great place for breakfast/lunch. Portions are really good size, great selection, and delicious! I had the fried chicken benedict, which was atop jalapeño infused corn bread, crispy chicken, and fresh hollandaise. Cant go wrong eating here. The staff are really lovely, accommodating and attentive. Chill atmosphere - highly recommend.
Great eggs bennies and the knew how to make well done bacon
I thought the service was very good, but I had high expectations for the taste, and I actually didnt think the food was that good.
Great diner and wonderful staff.
Good fare, friendly faces, average prices. Overall enjoyed our visit. Bit of a disconnect when entering the restaurant from the (lobby). Small eatery so fills up quick.
We had a great brunch with friends. The menu is diverse and varied, and the service is friendly, engaged and professional.
Loved the food
One of the best breakfasts Ive had in Victoria. Everything on the menu looked incredible. Service was great and they have a little seating area with games if you have to wait for a table. Service was great! Will be going back to try other menu items. So good.
Great all around. This place is connected with Hotel Zed. The whole place is so unique and eggs are free range, make there own sausage and Jam. Food : 5/5
Tacos, chicken and waffles, duck hash and the meal or the day ! Very good, but a long wait. You must be patient if you want to come here, can take 30-40 min wait. But it has a nice sitting area. Good food though, was worth the wait.
The portions were perfect and delicious, the servers were so friendly and fast as well. We will definitely return when back in Victoria. Very family friendly
Loved it. Great service, Great food, what more could you ask for? Kid-friendliness: They had the crayons and coloring book ready to go before we entered!
I love going here for brunch, the last time I went I got the Banana and Candied Pecan Waffles and they were amazing.
Love the food! My go to breakfast spot :)
We arrived at the restaurant at 8:40 on Saturday morning. We were seated without waiting. The food tasted very good and the portions were large. It was a very pleasant dining experience.
Very friendly servers and fun environment. Weve ordered a few things off the menu, and everything has been great so far!
Amazing place and Im happy every time I go back. Usually Id take the larger dishes like the breakfast poutine which is awesome, The last few visits Ive had the salmon and creamcheese bagel and the tacos, which are also really good Cant wait to go back
Unique and delicious. Get here early cause it gets busy!
Ohhhh Wao. The breakfast at this restaurant was great. We waited for sometime and decided to go to the bar table for breakfast. To start the coffee was of exceptional quality. Also the multiple Bennies were fabulous. We had the obes with smoke salmon and also the day special which was the crab cake eggs Bennedict. The best thing was the service provided by the bartender ans barista. What a nice lady with so much energy and loving what she was doing. We really appreciate the rest and their staff.
Always, always great food and friendly, professional staff.
Great staff and cooks and food!
Atmosphere was fun. Food was good.
Excellent place for breakfast.
Weve never had a poor meal here. I like their breakfast selection and dishes are hot and well prepared. The service is efficient and friendly, and they keep the coffee cups filled. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available.
Food here is excellent and staff made some interesting (and delicious) recommendations!
Wicked little spot for breakfast. Service was amazing and the food was great.
Small, cozy, eclectic. Great breakfasts with bunches of variety. HUGE house made sausages border on intimidating.!
What a great find! Such great service, fun atmosphere and OMG the food!!! I think I have found a new breakfast favourite when in Victoria! A must try is the lavender latte! So many delicious dishes to choose from. We didnt see 1 unhappy customer while here and we loved every moment!
If youre looking for a good brunch spot in Victoria, this is it. Located in the Hotel Zed lobby, The Ruby is a perfect spot for brekkie or drinks whether youre staying at the hotel or not. I had the Fried Chicken Benny, a crispy fried chicken breast served on a griddled slice of cornbread. The perfectly poached egg was covered with a delicious chipotle hollandaise sauce and pickled jalapenos. They served the Benny with smoked tomato sauce and a spicy green chile sauce. Even the potatoes, normally an afterthought in most restaurants, were crispy, hot, and creamy. If a restaurant takes pride in their potatoes, you know youve found something special... I topped off my meal with The Rubys Brunch Punch, a rummy, fruity concoction that went down far too easily. You could get into trouble with these, be forewarned! The staff are fantastic and the ambiance is fun. Id definitely go back.
I waited so long for my food
Wonderful place. My husband had the homemade sausage Benny and said it was one of the top he has ever had. I had the shredded duck with crispy onions and brie on a homemade biscuit, outstanding. It has been a couple of hours and we are still thinking about how good it was. Definitely a place to check out.
Its attached to the hotel so its very convenient for people to eat
All time favorite. The most delicious breakfasts. The staff are always happy!!
Great friendly service and excellent food
Meal was great and the service was awesome. We were a large group for breakfast and the team didnt miss a beat. Highly recommend Rubys for great tasty foof and exceptional service
Great find! Audi dealership recommended this place while I wait for my car... good call! Service, food and atmosphere is awesome there!
Have your name on the list before you get there. It gets busy
Super good food with large portions and the staff is also super friendly. Ya gotta eat here,ya hear
We had the rotisserie chicken soup with corn bread. Nice and hot. Hit the spot bc we both had colds. Good choice. Other dishes around us looked very inviting as well.
Great food great service. Awesome waffles.
1 word: wow. I was unbelievably impressed by my experience at The Ruby. A part of the lobby of The Zed hotel, The Ruby is a cozy and eclectic restaurant that oozes character. I was blessed to be able to order a Fried Chicken Benny which was very unique and incredibly tasty. I enjoyed my benny in combination with a well-prepared Baileys coffee that was all served by a very kind and courteous waitress who ensured we had a wonderful experience. Just be prepared to wait during peak hours as it can fill up quickly, but I promise it is worth it. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by the food and experience and would recommend it to anyone. Parking: Parking lot of The Zed Hotel.
Very good place & the food was amazing. The service was outstanding and it felt like home.
I liked the atmosphere of the place but I was not a big fan of my Benedict, it tasted very buttery. My partner liked both the place and the breakfast so perhaps it is my personal pickiness.
A great place for breakfast. Get there early because it gets busy fast. The food is great. Its going to be the must do place for breakfast when in Victoria.
An amazing and lovely place to eat a delicious breakfast.
Whimsical atmosphere and great food!!
Great little place for brunch. Atmosphere is terrific; LPs playing, board games to play while you wait for a table, even a ping pong lounge downstairs. Food was delicious and service was top notch. Busy on weekends though; we had to wait 45 minutes.
Great rotisserie chicken and sides.
Best place for breakfast! I absolutely love coming here for breakfast. The staff is friendly and the food is insanely amazing.
My daughters took me out for breakfast. We got there just as they opened. We ordered the kids waffles and granola and yogurt. I ordered the Canadian Benny on a croissant. My food was great and the kids were happy. The lady that served us was not as friendly as normal but we all have our bad days. Love that they have a record player and they were playing some sweet RnB.
I have never written a review in my life but after having brunch today i feel like i should. My first time ever coming here i was super excited to try it, i ordered the canadian benny which came with rotten avocado, sour tomato s and an almost rubber tasting sauce :( i ate as much as i could but after standing up to go back to work i found myself projectile vomiting in the cute little rainbow bathroom downstairs almost instantly, i have had fever like symptoms since my experience. not sure if i ll ever go back sadly. but the service was amazing and so is the environment:)
Great restaurant for breakfast! We stayed there all day (3 days in total)! Staff very nice and accommodating! The breakfast was great!!!
The presentation was good. The food was not . The hollandaise sauce was very thick. The staff are very friendly and the service was efficient Food
Amazing brunch place.
I have kids and a long table queue can be a recipe for disaster. Well Ruby Doobie has you covered with ping pong and classic Sega Genesis games downstairs. Chuck your kids into the playroom and drink a mimosa in peace. Thank God thank Ruby. The food was pretty good too, not exactly MTL cool kids finest but better than the Vic standard. Good selection of Bennys and boisterous atmo.
Service and food were really good (but expensive compared to other breakfast spots)
Always love going to the Ruby!
Really high quality food although the prices have gone up. Service is excellent and efficient. Highly recommend this restaurant Vegetarian options: There are Vegan options here Parking: Some spots right near the restaurant as well as some to the side and at the back
Always jam packed and high energy. The food is truly excellent and rather than standing in the usual long Sunday brunch line you can choose to sit and enjoy the typewriters in the lounge or play ping pong and Sega downstairs. Ive been for brunch a dozen times now and have never, ever been disappointed. Food
Cute lil spot. Nothing to complain about! I expected breakfast sausage but it was more like one big brat. My fault for not asking for clarification. Vanilla latte was good but not very vanilla-y.
We came based recommendations from local friends. At end of breakfast, the team of 3 came to the conclusion that this is over-rated.
Waiting for a table was a bit too long, but it was worth the wait,
All I can say is that was awesome
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Staff were beyond nice, not just for show. Very much got the feeling they actually cared. Oh and the waffle was unreal. Homemade seasonal berry changes from time to time and this time i got strawberry with a hint of rhubarb. Lemon whipped cream cheese underneath every waffle, even the bottom one! Vegetarian options: Very friendly
One of the best brunches had in Canada
Great food. Great service price is a little high, but the quality is awesome.
They are closed for Reno s
The food isnt really my cup of tea but it was good and full of flavor I would recommend it to ppl for sure
Parking: The whole design of this parking lot may want to be rethought possibly? Maybe, repaint in/out- new wider stalls. Extra disabled parking and electric? Food : 5/5
Usually its great but on occasion I walk out of the place thinking I just had the best breakfast ever....usually due to a hash I just had.
Amazing location, decor, service, & food! From the moment you walk in the door you get this vibe that everything is going to be perfect, the music playing from a record player as the staff pick out albums and cue them up, the relaxed casual atmosphere with a great close knit space it all leads up to some amazing portions at great pricing.
Absolutely love the Ruby on Douglas! They have great service, food, non-alcoholic beverages and a lounge area with games and other activities while you wait for your table. I ordered the Skinny hash and it was delicious!
Used to be great. Now the food is awful and the prices are outrageous!
The rotisserie chicken noodle soup was amazing. Home cooked meal and excellent atmosphere. Would definitely recommend
Everything was top notch. Good hot coffee!!! Ordered the Mexican Eggs and the Arancini Benny!!!! Soooo good. The Ruby always delivers!!!
Over the top delicious food, one of the best breakfast/brunch places in Victoria.
Took me 5 minutes to walk there and an extra 20 minutes to wait for my pickup order. You took my entire lunch break just having me stand in the lobby. Please communicate with your kitchen on when to actually expect orders.
Absolutely delicious!
I came in during the lunch peak time so have to wait a bit but the food is really awesome. I love their crunchy poutine. Waitress is friendly and attentive.
Love this sweet little place! Staff is friendly, the food is fantastic & the coffee is wonderful! Portions are big & I took half home. This is the Pulled Pork Benny. Delicious!!
