Don't really see what the hype is about compared with other reviews. It's not hard to mess up breakfast and this place does it pretty average. My scramble and potatoes weren't good at all and other meals in my party were nothing special either. Coffee was good, and the service was top notch. Overall a bland experience and I would try other places before coming back to this one.
Wonderful breakfast and service, set up a booster seat for my daughter and gave her a sippy cup with colouring stuff, so thoughtful. Cinnamon caramel latte was SO good and the healthy start breakfast 10/10
First time here and first time in Canada. Friendly service, food was good, quaint environment. The avocado BLT was everything. This we’ll be our go to breakfast spot until we go back to the states.
My wife and I love going to the Estevan location. It just happens to be closer to where we work. Happened to be in this area last time and, as one would expect, it did not disappoint. Same great food, great service, and same feel. More interesting takes on classic breakfast items, consistently delicious. Keep it up!
Excellent brunch spot in Victoria. Very friendly prices and food quality is amazing. Many options to pick from and honestly everything we tried was very good. Very popular with locals during weekends
First of all let me start off by saying that The Village is one of my favourite restaurants in the city! I’d been going to the original Estevan St location for a while and then when the Royal Oak location opened up close to where I live I was ecstatic! I’m there at least once a week for breakfast or brunch! I’ve had their Eggs Bennies (many varieties) and their potato latkes are a great option to a bagel. I’ve enjoyed their Shakahouka many times. But my go-to is their hash! The Royal Oak Hash was my regular, then recently it’s been the feature hash with shredded chicken, grilled veggies and kale, corn and black bean salsa, and a couple poached eggs all on top of their delicious potatoes! So tasty, so satisfying and always fresh and delicious! The Village always serves unique twists on the usual. They have their regular menu and a weekly feature sheet so there’s always options for everyone. Their coffee and espresso drinks are always tasty too. The biggest thing about The Village (no matter which location) is the friendly service! The staff are always smiling from the moment they greet and seat you to when they take your order and bring your food to when you finish and pay the bill, the staff are always smiling! They really love what they do and it shows!
My go to breakfast place in Saanich. Hosts and servers are always extremely friendly. Food never, ever disappoints. Highly quality ingredients and always fresh. I highly recommend their jam, it's to die for! Picture shown is the Healthy Start. If the weather is nice I recommend brunch on their patio. See you again very soon The Village Restaurant!
Our friends treated us to brunch here because they use potato latkes instead of bread for their eggs bennies. We ordered a variety of egg bennies. The potato latkes were over cooked and very thin. After lunch, our tongues felt like we ate MSG even though we had smoked salmon Benedicts. The espresso in my oat milk latte was very bitter. It was not a nice feeling. Why do people always serve goat cheese with salads (1/4 VILLAGE salad) without mentioning cheese on the menu?! Ah well :{
Very expensive and have time limits on how long you can sit in (were told to leave an hour and a half after sitting down) maybe they need to indicate on their menu so visitors know what to expect.
Lovely place for brunch. Great food, great service.
Food is good but portion is significantly smaller... barely any potatoes and fruit compared to before...
Quaint breakfast/brunch restaurant. Call ahead to reserve a spot.
I have been here before and thought it was good. This time the food was okay and the portion size for the early riser Montreal smoked meat scrambler was small. Staff was great and atmosphere was good but overall it was alright!
Honestly the breakfast options have gone back to basics. Its basically just Bennys now. Zero vegetarian options other than a Benny. Where is the shack or the roasted veggies with poached eggs? You can literally order the veggie dish you used to serve by ordering the sides and putting it all together. Cant even order overpriced oatmeal. Anyways theres no better options in the royal oak area for breakfasts atm so you guys win by default every time.
The food tasted delicious as always, and the service was great. I wish there was a little more variety in the menu. I also ordered a side of fruit and was disappointed with the amount you get. Parking: The parling lot is often full, as there are other businesses at this location.
The Citizen breakfast is phenomenal here.
Our favourite brunch spot in Victoria! My wife and I go here all the time (at least 2 times a month). The food never disappoints and the service is always very friendly.
One of the better meals we had in Victoria while visiting. Healthy, creative and tasty food. Loved the option of greens or a latke for the benny s. Attentive service and a bustling atmosphere were also appreciated.
What a gem. It says that this is where the locals eat, and I know why! Great did, friendly service and very welcoming to it little dog. Highly recommended.
If you are around and skip this place. Big mistake!!
My wife and step mother love it so that is where we end up. I have never had a good meal there so perhaps its just bad luck. I always find the prepared foods too salty and today was no different. Today the bagels were old, hard and dry.
Delicious brunch, and coffee...absolute yum!
Im still reminiscing about the corn Benny and lemon blueberry pancakes. Its best to go with someone whos willing to share so you can sample as many dishes as possible! The staff were above and beyond! Its very busy, the parking is terrible and you can expect to wait. I wish the interior seating was quieter and I wish there was more outdoor seating. And more bike racks!
The Italian Benny yummmm!!! Not only was the food delicious, the service was warm, welcoming and cheerful, a real delight Food
We arrived much later than expected so only had 30 minutes to eat before catching our ferry home. We requested the restaurant to rush our orders and they were absolutely on it. Our food came out super quickly, tasted excellent, and was piping hot. The service was excellent and friendly and incredibly accommodating. They had our bills ready immediately as well and were just so on tip of everything, which was so appreciated. The food was delicious! I would certainly return, thought hopefully next time we will be able to take our time :)
Waffle was very fluffy. Staff was super friendly!! Food
A happy breakfast place, good food and wonderful service from friendly staff. Definitely worth trying next time youre looking for a breakfast place. Note: usually very busy so get there early.
Stopped in for an early breakfast after flying in for a quick little holiday in Tofino. What a fantastic little restaurant! We had a table by the window, and even though it was a bit grey and rainy, we were warm and cozy inside. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. Im still dreaming about the breakfast potatoes that came with our meal! My husband can be rather particular about his coffee. He enjoyed it so much, he purchased a bag of their beans to take home. This place amazing. We will definitely be back!
Great brunch spot in Victoria. Was really impressed with the food and service. Definitely looking to come back.
Great food great service! By far my favourite breakfast place!
Looked like a great breakfast place. I even called ahead to make sure I could get eggs Benny. They said yes so I drove across town since I was seriously stoked for my breakfast. Get there to find out you cant get a traditional Benny. They dont even have English muffins nor ham. If its a traditional Benny youre wanting keep on looking. I was so disappointed I went home and had a sandwich.
30 min wait. Very small inside, only a few tables, and very busy. Service was good once we finally got a table. Food was so-so. Too exotic and high priced for my taste. Food made me and my parents feel sick afterwards. Not sure why people seem to like this place, there are much better choices.
They are eh best! Consistent. Clean. Wholesome. And I swear they massage the kale to perfect tenderness!
Great breakfast
This is a popular place. Staff are all smiles, friendly, and the service they provided our group on two recent occasions was very good. We might be forgoing our regular Sunday spot for this place, despite the 20 minute wait the first time we came here. Food is good and prices are what to expect for brunch (around 25 bucks a person with tip, non alcoholic drink).
Best breakfast in town!
never disappoints. Very fresh food. greate staff. Our regular haunt.
Delicious breakfast. Wow. Worth every penny.
The Village is always my go-to breakfast spot. Being able to choose from the menu or build-a-breakfast to suit the days cravings is my favorite. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. When its busy, it can feel a bit crowded, but thats ok. Highly recommend.
We did have to wait about 30 minutes, but we were told that up front so no problem. This is one of several Villages (and other establishments owned by the Villages owners) in and around Victoria. All are delicious places to eat with good service.
Delicious food, Delivered promptly, friendly service. A fun place as well.
Potato latkes so tough, that it was difficult to cut with a knife, and so greasy that when you held them up, the light shone through. Lacking in any flavour other than the oil. When mentioned to the server, she said That is the way they always are . Did not reduce the bill. Mimosa using the cheapest, yeastiest, proseco they can find as the yeast flavour predominated even over the orange juice. We will not be back. What a disappointment.
Most importantly they make good Hollandaise! Service was great, eggs for the most part were poached well. Food was hot and fruit was fresh. Only negative I would say is the potato cake was too thin and underseasoned. Will definitely go back
I had the special, Jalapeno Popper Eggs Benny. The Jalapeno relish was good, but there was very little of it. All I could taste was the saltiness of the bacon, and there was a very small side of hash browns. Service was good, although the food was slow to come out.
Fabulous local food, beautifully presented. Can be a little noisy as sounds carry like in a cave.
I opted for the avocado toast, which was amazing. The service was great. The place is small, very busy and noisy. If you are willing to wait and dont mind noise, its well worth the wait time to get a table.
A delicious place for brunch. The eggs Benny on latkes is so good
Excellent food and friendly fast service!
Amazing food, their salad is probably the best in town! Always fresh, tasty, and great service
We stopped here for breakfast while passing through. Great eggs benedict and waffles. The service was very friendly and quick. Soft and appropriate music. Delicious coffee.
What an out of the way gem. Really local feel where the servers remember the locals names but also treat tourists like locals. Great food and quick for a busy sunday brunch.
The Village is amazing. The staff are so focused and genuine, the breakfast was the best breakfast Ive ever had! Thank you for giving us a wonderful experience Food
We had Bennys and they were fantastic!
Service is always top notch! Food is consistently excellent. Food
Loved it...great food and service.
Had the apple pie waffles this time around. Only thing wrong was that they were so good, I could have eaten more. The breakfast menu is limited but what they have on the menu, they make well.
This is a great patio to bring your dog for breakfast and lunch! The service was amazing and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend as a dog friendly place!
Great first experience. A bit close quarters seating, but food and service couldn t have been better.
The Village Restaurant is a hidden gem that never disappoints. If youre a breakfast enthusiast like me, this place is a must-visit. First and foremost, the food here is exceptional. Their breakfast options are not only delicious but also made with high-quality ingredients. Whether youre craving a classic breakfast dish or something more unique, their menu has it all. And dont even get me started on the coffee its top-notch. The staff at The Village Restaurant truly elevate the dining experience. They are friendly, attentive, and always ready to provide recommendations or accommodate special requests. Youll feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its cleanliness. The dining area and facilities are spotless, which adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Whether youre a local looking for your new go-to breakfast spot or a visitor passing through, The Village Restaurant should be at the top of your list. Its a place where great food, excellent coffee, friendly service, and cleanliness come together seamlessly.
Split our large group in half, as it was a work social, it really made no sense. In the past, they have accomodated several times well.
Great service, delicious food and an amazing table location because there were quite a few of us and we reserve before hand.
Google says just go no reservations and quick service Wrong get a reservation . Might be great but with bad Intel wouldnt wait 30 minutes standing out in the rain to wait for a table.
The service was so kind and warm even with the extreme weather and short staff. The food was like perfection and the hot apple cider was nuts. Thank you guys! Ill be coming back soon.
Nice place, food tastes good
This place offers the best breakfast. The staff is super friendly. You should definitely try their in house spice sauce. It s delicious.
The food is made with great ingredients and is always consistant. There is often never a line up and the staff are always on top of their game (The red barn Benny is my fav!)
I made a reservation for two for 11 a.m. was treating my friend for her birthday. Food was delicious and service was good. I felt rushed to pay the bill and then was asked to leave in five minutes as the table was reserved for the next party. This was one hour and a half after we sat down. I spent $75 for brunch and did a take out. I felt it was rude to ask us to leave in five minutes when we were not ready. If I wanted fast service in and out I would have gone to McDonalds. Signed - Johns wife, Diane
Excellent
Village waffle and Cambridge Scramble are worth the visit. Big thank you the staff.
Wow ! Just wow! One of our very favourite brunch stops (and we have tried so many on the Peninsula!) Right from the lovely warm greeting to finalising the bill, we had 5 star service. I wanted the food to go on forever - it was so delicious. The only negative would be to source better quality bread for the toast (Wildfire or Portofino perhaps?) Otherwise a fairly typical Village fantastic feast :) Love the staff here, they are always so bright and energetic
We had breakfast. Very good and pleasant service, the food was hot, all in all a very pleasant experience .
Best Breakfast In Town .... For Sure.... Had a Salad Todsy... Curry Balsamic Dressing.. Amazing...
Highly recommend the village! Had the camwich with the salad for lunch and it was delicious. Everything was very fresh and everyone was friendly.
WOW. Every staff member shines with a warm smile. Food is amazing, delicious. Very generous portions.
Great service, yummy drinks, very busy.
Great breakfast, quick and clean restaurant. Friendly staff.
Amazing food! Fantastic, fast, friendly service. Definitely coming back the next time I m in Victoria.
First time visit Great service and good tasting food
Now heres a restaurant that has great and healthy food and every item is so fresh also great home made soup this place is a must if you care what you put in your body Great and friendly staff try it and you too will love this place
If you have never been to this restaurant, you must go!!! The food is fantastic, as well as the service.
Great place to eat
Great breakfast/brunch! Inspired takes on classic dishes. Excellent coffee!
I was looking forward to coming here based on family recommendations. And my brunch was delicious- I had a benny! - and it surpassed expectations. So good! I will definitely come back when I am in the area again. Everyone in my party was happy with their meal and staff was super friendly.
Very good selection of breakfast items, presentation and freshness of components. Excellent staff and service. Busy place but worth a few minutes wait. Recommended.
The best brunch place in vic. Their eggs bennies on latkes are super good
The Village in Royal Oak is a great place for a nice meal or quick bite! We often order for pick up. Food is delicious and quick. Love the pear salad and beef dip.
Consistently a gem for brunch! The food is so amazingly delicious, that my companion said she was going home to recommend it to 10 friends immediately The service is swift and friendly and while the costs have risen a little, the meals are worth every penny!!
Very nice breakfast with very friendly service.
Hands down nicest staff and consistently great food. The Big Al Benny is a show stopper of a dish. The food is so fresh and a lot is locally sourced which my wife and I appreciate. Best breakfast joint in town and we highly recommend.
Delicious Benny latkas! Yum.
Delicious breakfasts (benny for me and waffles for hubby), friendly staff, lovely little venue. So glad we came thru here.
Friendly and accommodating staff pairs well with a delicious menu! Parking: Parking is tight, limited, and one-way
The food here consistently excellent.
Delicious brunch, excellent and fresh ingredients. We enjoyed the patio, and best of all dogs are allowed!
They got dem breakfasts
Good for a deluxe celebration breakfast. Dont depend on Google maps to get you there. Got it so wrong they put their location on the wall. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian available but not sure about vegan Parking: Location is in a strip mall so parking is free and right in front.
Consistently good food. Cant go wrong. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options on the menu Parking: About 20 spots. Wheelchair accessibility: 1 or 2 accessible slots, although they are a bit tight. The restaurant itself is completely accessible.
The Red Barn eggs benny was fantastic. Service and atmosphere were great as well. Highly recommended!
Best Italian benny ever - must have on the scrumptious latkes
Always fantastic. The new special, Village Huevos, was incredible, please keep it.
A great spot for a reliably tasty breakfast! Red barn thick cut bacon and good coffee. Olivia is a great server. A calm atmosphere. I do suggest that a hook be added to the bathroom to hold a jacket or purse - but other than that small detail everything was great and I ll be back either way.
Cute place, nice local feel with great food and service
One of our favorite restaurants for breakfast. Wide variety of Bennies on latkes ... a nice twist! Service is excellent and friendly. Locally sourced. Lunch us also served and I enjoyed one of the best BLT sandwiches. AND, they serve unsweetened iced tea for those of who have been missing this refreshing drink!! Wheelchair accessible entrance, seating and washroom at West Saanich location.
Usually my go-to place for brunch as it is close to my house and food is always delicious. With COVID shutting down dine in services I ordered takeout. Text message service indicates they will bring the food out to your car if you send a message with your name and vehicle description. Waited close to 10 mins to see if anyone would bring the food out once I had texted. Nobody did so I walked up to the pickup counter and was served quickly might want to ensure your new pickup messaging service is attended to? Food was tasty but avocado was quite bruised. Seems to be hit or a slight miss here.
I especially love going for lunch, the Village salad with avacado or chicken is always a favorite for my friends and I. The location on Estevan is right up from Willows Beach so you can get a lovely in as well.
This place is absolutely amazing, and our absolute go to for breakfast. Not only is the food delicious but the staff are also incredible. Our server was humourous, efficient and very outgoing, which made our dining experience that much better. We will definitely be back very soon.
A smallish place, with an outside patio. Andrew and Staff are friendly, courteous, competent and not in your face. A lot of the food is locally sourced and it is of course, locally owned. It is consistent, of high quality and a nice and unusual variety. Highly recommend it. The Lattes are the best in the region.
#1 breakfast in Victoria. Super friendly, fast service, and extremely focused on local contributions! Their menu consists of all the best of Victoria and you can taste the quality. Highly recommend!
Fresh, tasty, nice layout, great staff, thank you.
Such a great spot for breakfast. Love that I can enjoy the villa and not have to go in to town. Such great service, staff, and food quality.
Ordered the Estevan Sandwich with salad, to-go. It was so delicious! Will absolutely get again. Photos of all of the menu items on the website was very helpful.
Great food friendly staff.
Good food, great service and friendly people.
I used to go to the one on Estevan and I used to adore the Italian Benny on a latke. Maybe its this location, but it isnt hasnt been quite as good the last few times as it used to be. I think the pesto has lost its zip. I did have an absolutely delightful iced chai with a little biscotti on top - Im very glad I took a chance on ordering a different beverage. That drink was super yummy. Service good at this location. Very expensive meal, though, at almost $30/person.
Great food! Amazing staff!
This place was AMAZING. Great for a catch up brunch with old friends. Very calm and comfortable. Food was fresh with great presentation. I had the eggss benedict with salmon. Sooo good
Great food and friendly staff! My only complaint is that theyre closed on Mondays and Tuesdays!
Favourite breakfast place
Great food.... breakfast and lunch fare....and service
Great service, tasty meals and lovely atmosphere.
Tasty food and the staff were so nice
I love the food here, great service, fantastic coffee. My only down ponit is that its slightly too corporately designed for my tastes with a commercial for itself running consistently in the background. That being said, it loses a star for me until theyre open for more reasonable hours, currently theyre closed saturday afternoon until wednesday, and open only until 2pm. Victoria is known for its breakfast places to eat, and this is one of the best ones to eat at.
Excellent service...friendly staff...most of all great food...we had reservations for brunch for 8 and every single person gave 2 thumbs up!! That says a lot...definitely returning for seconds and more...thank you Village Restaurant...
The food was good and the atmosphere very pleasant for lunch. The service was excellent. The COVID testing was obvious and efficient.
Didnt even know how trendy and delicious this small restaurant was until our companions said we would have to wait for a table if we dined there for lunch. Sure enough we waited fifteen minutes to get into the restaurant, but it was worth the wait as our meal was great. A bit pricier than I expected for the location, but the food was better than expected. Service was friendly and quick, and there was adequate parking for the number of shops in this little strip mall location.
Good breakfast food. The waiter was very good.
4.5 stars. Food was great. Service was super friendly and very accommodating for those with kids. Portion sizes are on the smaller size, so I had to order a couple sides to make it more of a meal which ends up being about $20.
Delicious fresh food, yummy drinks and wonderful service!
Fun staff, great service!
Was just turned away for the second day in a row. Its snowing out, and yesterday their hot water heater broke. Fine. Came back today, after having been told over the phone the restaurant would be open until 3pm. Showed up shortly before 1:30 and were told they are closing early and wont seat us, DESPITE there being several diners still in the middle of their meals. Long time customer and will NEVER be back.
Great food and terrific service!
Great staff, amazing food, worth the wait when theres a lineup (which is often)!
The food was good and the service was friendly.
Friendly service and great food!
PLAIN EXPENSIVE BURGER. DO YOU WANT A GREAT BURGER FOR HALF THE PRICE. GO TO FAT BURGER.
Had a few meals over the years here. Brunch has to be one of my favorite meals ever made by man, these guys/gals do it right. Always leaving full.
Great place to go for breakfast and lunch, highly recommended great food and excellent service
A local favourite - try the west coast bennies with smoke salmon!
Excellent!
My partner try to swing by on a weekend and we are always treated so well, the staff are so personable and lets not forget efficient THESE PEOPLE WORK HARD! My guy and I extend our love and appreciation for The Village at Royal Oak and will be a patrons until the very end.
The food and service is FANTASTIC.
One of my favorite breakfast spots, consistently great food, service on point, and great specials.
Enjoyed a healthy, fresh breakfast! Loved the kale.
Great service, great food!
Super tastey.
Breakfast is good, service is better :) 5 star for both!
Delicious menu with lots of gluten free items and other yummy breakfast and lunch options.
Good service and tasty food
Very good lunch. Omelette with smoked salmon and coffee mocha. Delicious
Amazing real food and great service. Just all around quality. Love this place.
Best quality breakfast menu in region
Came here for a late breakfast which given it was a Sunday and the popularity of this place meant there was a hit of a wait. But the food was tasty and fresh and reasonably priced.
The staff are always friendly and fun. The food was fresh and tasty as well as unique. I adore latkes as a base for my Benny!
Some raw foods, very bad!
We went here for our Nanas 80th birthday! The service was phenomenal and the food was even better! definitely great coffee too!
My potatoes look like leftover and it was kinda cold. Ive tried a lot of fancy breakfast places but it was pretty a disappointing experience. Servers were nice but food. :(
Eggs Benedict was fantastic
Consistent go-to for healthy breakfast or lunch. Good food and really friendly staff.
Great place and food.
So good. Loved the benny options. Not a very large space but very popular. Was glad we called ahead.
Good food good service with prices that match the higher than normal quality ingredients and culinary skill
Food s great. I didn t give a fifth star because they don t let you order just off the side-menu for when you re not super hungry - they ll instead charge you for a breakfast meal.
Awesome lunch and great setvice. Salad was scrumptious.
I d go with five stars, except my first experience here involved a burger, and a montreal style sand which. The burger was good. The sandwhich wasn t toasted and although I was there before my food was even ready & I live three blocks away and drove - the bread was completely soggy. Either take it off the menu or toast the bread. Had to remake my sandwhich with bread from my house. Definitely would not order anything off that part of the menu again. My brother said the burger was really good though. All of the servers and staff seemed super nice. Fix the sandwhiches.
Fabulous food, beautiful presentation, great staff.
