A friendly breakfast place great for family and friends
10/10 food every time, good gluten free options! Delicious food and they don't skimp put on portions, even when it comes to pricier items like avocado and smoked salmon. The potatoes are the best I have ever had in my life.
If I could give this a 0 star I would… Absolutely do not eat here, as they clearly don’t have any training on food safe nor follow health regulations. Rotten avacado put on my takeout order that STUNK and brought me to gags from the taste. Followed by zero support nor apologies from staff when called. Absolutely disgusting. Edit: Let me make it clear since gaslighting is the route you choose… These avocados were absolutely NOT oxidized, they were fermented and rotten. The taste, the smell, you could very clearly tell they should have never been used in the meal prep. As someone who regularly eats avocados, and just general common sense you’d be able to see they’re rotten. As for the refund, it was not offered by your staff and she was quick to dismiss my complaint. Rather than trying to convince me of oxidization being the root cause, take the time to go in your kitchen and move those Avocados from the shelf to the garbage in care for the next customer:)
Got the salmon eggs Benny (triple) and was delighted. I was skeptical at first of the oaten toast on the menu but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bread! 5 stars! Great price point and quality!
The food was delicious and very affordable. You can tell a lot of love goes into it , all homemade ! The Service is just the sweetest ! And to top it off, my tea came in this beautiful tea cup :) Definitely a hidden gem that I’ll be coming back to !
This place is a must try. The food is so delicious that my kids ate on their own for the first time in a long while! The pancakes are slightly crispy and fluffy at the same time. The potatoes are golden and crisp on the outside and not dry on the inside. The staff here is amazing and this place comes highly recommended. A gem in Victoria!
I just randomly visited here today and I think I found a hidden treasure. I waited for around 5-10mins and people more came after us. This restaurant is not fancy and doesn’t have ‘interesting’ signature menu (like some of famous brunch restaurants!) BUT, their foods feel like real ‘homemade.’ I could feel that they really care about even the smallest thing on their plate. (I've never seen a place that makes their own strawberry jam!) There was only one server working, but service was great enough and food served fast. I will definitely come again!
even though the lineup was out the door, service was fast and efficient. they took down our name and number so we could peruse the local shops while we wait 15 for our table. Service was gracious and kind. we were greeted with warm smiles from the server who amazingly managed all the tables herself and the chef. This looks to be a tight not, family operation. what was so special about our breakfast were that several elements were homemade. the jam, the bread and hot sauce! Prices were below the local average while portions were bigger! and no compromise to quality! Thank you Avalon, we will return
Randomly tried this spot on the weekend and the food was fantastic. All five in our group thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The pancakes were fluffy the fruit was fresh and service friendly. It took a little while for our food to come out but it was worth the wait. I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch and will be back! The prices are also very reasonable.
I just had an amazing meal at **Avalon Restaurant**, and I have to share! From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. They were attentive and genuinely welcoming, which really made my visit special. The food was absolutely delicious! The cozy atmosphere made it a great place to relax and enjoy good company. I highly recommend Avalon Restaurant for anyone looking for great food and even better service. I can t wait to go back! **Rating:**
I love this place and cant wait to come back near Christmas time. We originally were going to go to a more popular on social media place but the line was crazy long so we came here instead. I cant believe more people dont line up for this place?? The hashbrown potatoes were so so good, my family and I are still talking about the hashbrowns a month later. You have to taste them. The staff were super friendly, the service is fast and the food is GOOD. Its what you would want from a little home-style diner, the atmosphere is cozy with big glass windows to people-watch. I meant to write this review a while back and was looking through the menu tonight planning for my December trip (because this is a must go to place for me now every time Im in vic) and wanted to make sure I left a fair review considering the brutal review I just read about an oxidized avocado being considered rotten... I feel like standards and expectations should at least be fair... theyre a restaurant, not god. Excited to be returning in December!
The best brunch restaurant is crazy. The taste cannot be ruined even if it is sold in Korea.. Grilled tomatoes, crispy fries on the outside, bb London Fog are sweet and delicious,,
Went there in September Very good food Very good service Excellent value Definitely go back
Small incredible neighborhood eatery. Right around the corner from a popular location that had a crazy line. So we found Avalon and we left discussing how soon we could return. Quick service and the breakfast was great. We both ordered the signature skillet and it was perfect. Crispy potatoes and a flavor that brings it all together. A must do. We will be back!
Wish I could rate them higher, this place is just lovely. Great food, wonderful service, cute and cozy.
Great service, good food, nice place
Very good service , polite and fast. Good breakfast. Just gets a little bit noisy inside but theres nice seating outside.
I dont get how this place only has 4.3 stars, it is a hidden gem in Victoria. The home made toast is indeed some of the best I have tried. A must try!
Great food - one of the best Benedict s I have had. Staff is so kind and welcoming!
A famous brunch cafe on that line. It was a hastily chosen alternative because there were too many people. It was so good. It was so delicious. Both are okay I tried Eggs Benedict for the first time and was impressed.
Had to add to my partners review I love my adorable tea cup. My son had pierogi breakfast and I had the traditional and it was absolutely delicious top-notch everything is made with care !! Highly highly recommended and my partner said we will be back. I m also going to share an adorable little picture of my teacup lol ! The service is amazing such kind people
Nice people. Good pancake.
My favourite breakfast place in town and so underrated compared to some of the other big breakfast places in town. I ve ordered countless times and never once had an issue or been disappointed with the quality, quantity it taste, and presentation is always nice. Highly recommend!!!
I ordered the mini huevos and it was awesome. Great service and nice outdoor seating.
Excellent food, with some creative menu items like pierogies. Potatoes were good, oaten bread fabulous, eggs cooked as ordered. Good veggie options.
Best breakfast potatoes in town. They get them nice and crispy! Friendly staff, never too busy, and never a long wait for food. Simple menu and good prices. My favourite!
Vegetarian options: Lots of Vegetarian options Food
Small little hole in the wall breakfast spot that serves some amazing breakfast potatoes. Im conflicted on wanting to keep it a secret but also want to give them lots of support :)
The brunch was awesome, the service excellent
Intimate setting, low key. Eggs benedict was excellent. Morning tea in fine China. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
One of my regular breakfast spots, its not fancy but good food and very friendly staff. The potatoes are some of the best in town. If you are looking for a hipster place where you need to line up for an hour dont go here, but if you want good friendly service and good food drop in and you wont be disappointed
Delicious Food & Friendly workers
This cozy place has a great delicious variety of breakfast options, and all are so delicious and big portions with a beautiful dish presented the service was very neat and professional, everyone should try this place, I would highly recommend it, they deserve more than 5 stars
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Victoria. I found it way back in 2007, moved home to Nova Scotia in 2008 and still think about The Avalon now and again! On a return visit to Victoria in 2022, this restaurant was my first stop. I was happy to find that the quality of food and service has not changed in 14 years! You cant beat the homemade bread, hollandaise sauce and jam. Highly recommend.
The best pancakes this world has to offer
No vegan options.
My favourite brunch place in Victoria! No nonsense delicious food. Staff are always very nice too :)
This is our staffs favourite spot to kick the Saturday off every weekend now. The pancake is PERFECT. The plating is incredible, the eggs are perfect. Home fries are actual potatoes and NOT deep fried and triple cooked. The service is just as good as the food. Friendly staff & good food is all it takes to start your morning off right. We ordered breakfast at a different spot every week and ranked them all as a group. Avalon won by a long shot! We will be back, many times!
Yummy! So far my favourite hollindaise in the city but not quite my favourite menu (its basic which has it own homey character too it) besides the prices that will never be beat. This is a must go!
Came on a Sunday, and wasn t too busy (5 min wait). Food was really good and service was fast!
Favourite breakfast spot in the city; the eggs benedict are superb and the pancakes are to kill for! The staff are amazingly friendly and never fail to install a smile on my face every time before leaving. Whether its busy or quiet youll be sure to get top notch service and a hot plate of comfort food. Dont sleep on their spicy ketchup, dont worry, its not too hot but adds a nice punch to those crispy taters that come alongside your main dish.
so cute!!!! the service is awesome and the locations is great. The food is really good and reasonably priced. :)!!!
Its a comfortable atmosphere where locals go. The food is really plentiful and delicious, but the coffee is so-so.
amazing place, great food and prices, quieter than most brunch spots in Victoria, and very accommodating! I would give it 6 stars if I could!
Me and my partner wanted to go here for Valentine s Day breakfast, only to go downtown and find out they are closed for 2 weeks and there was no warning on their website that they were closed.
A gem of a breakfast shop! Fair prices and yummy traditional breakfast options:)
Came in for New Years day breakfast. Made reservation for 10:00 place had space but filled quickly. Eating area is not huge, but just the right size to keep things intimate. Food was excellent and everyone in our group of 5 was happy with selection and size.
Everything we ordered was amazing but the pancakes stole the show! Definitely super underrated spot.
Really good eggs benedict with fresh salmon. Very fair price and nice service. Lovely place.
this spot is wonderful. unpretentious, well done diner breakfasts and bottomless coffee. kind service. very reasonable prices. 10/10. you can see it in the clientele - families catching up, regulars who have been there forever... all excellent.
Affordable, simple and good.
Excellent pancakes and service
I would have given it five stars had the hollandaise sauce not been Knorr and maybe been made from scratch.
Edit: Since writing this review 20 minutes ago both my husband and I have thrown up from the food. Incredibly disappointing for a local business. Ordered from here this morning through Skip the Dishes and the food we got was just awful. Portion sizes were fine for the price but everything had this strange taste to it like it was sour; from the eggs to the potatoes and even the toast. There was a real lack of any flavour to the food aside from the sour taste and diner grease. We got 2 supposedly different meals and you couldnt tell them apart by taste. Really disappointing;$50 down the drain for two meals we had to throw out.
Incredible breakfast! Eggs Benedict and traditional breakfast were 10/10. Highly recommend
A cozy little place with great food!!
Good food, but when I ordered through skip the dishes, wait times are close to an hour just for my order to be missing items. Has happened twice now
This is a small family run business. The food is generously portioned and made with love. Im glad we stumbled across this place for breakfast.
Good food. Good portions. Good price. Good service. And the owner is a prince of a fellow.
My new favourite breakfast place. It s a small greasy-spoon style diner, run by a family. The portions are large, the staff are amazingly friendly and the coffee is refillable. It was very busy the day we went and the staff/family was obviously struggling to keep up, but you could tell they were trying their best and everyone waited patiently. All around this place is amazing and I will go back many times.
Unassuming and friendly little place with great food and reasonable prices. The vegetarian Benny with spinach and mushrooms was really tasty Vegetarian options: Wish there were more
In Victoria for a quick vacation, and happened upon this little restaurant. So IMPRESSED! Courteous service and astounding food. Wild Salmon & Avocado Benedict on the homemade bread was delicious! Food
Great food, great prices, and great service. Support local..and this a great place with great people running it.
Super Late
The food took a long time even though it was not particularly busy, and the eggs were a little bland, so I took off a star. However, I would still recommend this place. The server was very nice, and the pancakes were FANTASTIC (some of the best I ve ever had).
Small cute place . Seems like a small family run. I had the mini heuvos and I totally loved it. Portion size was perfect too. The homestyle potatoes were awesome. Would definitely try again when I am in Victoria. Food
Great service, great food all coupled with great value which is often not found in a breakfast venue these days. They even had a Carnevoir option which is a unicorn option in sea of weak vegan culture. Try them out and you will not be disappointed!!
Decided to try this place out because my friend and I didn t feel like waiting in line somewhere else. I m so glad we came here instead, the food was perfect and the prices were amazing compared to some of the other brunch places in town! I had the smoked salmon and avocado benny and it was delicious. The potatoes were super crispy and their homemade bread was so good, as well as their homemade hot sauce! Service was awesome as well, and the atmosphere was very cozy and homey in the best way. Found my new favourite brunch spot!
Very cute little place. Service is excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Very reasonable prices.
Very nice. A warm welcome. Delicious cuisine. Plates generously served. Go there with your eyes closed!
If youre looking for a good if it aint broken, dont fix it breakfast, I can enthusiastically recommend the Avalon. I didnt know if I wanted the traditional English Muffin or the Oated White Bread with my Traditional Eggs Benedict, so the waitress suggested one of each. After the comparison, I would have gone with the non-traditional Oated White Bread. Solid food at a great price! Im glad we opted to NOT wait an hour to get into The Blue Fox Cafe and went to the Avalon instead.
Landed here by chance for breakfast, really recommended, a few places outside facing the street. Toast with avocado and tomatoes was very tasty, coffee and tea (sweet in a porcelain pot with a cup) were served, it takes a while for everything to arrive, but its worth it. Especially since this place is not that frequented by tourists. The owner is very friendly and also tries hard.
A great find! Excellent all-day breakfast place. Great menu and service.
I was so surprised at how good this place was. Totally a hole in the wall but the service was great, food was even better, and even the coffee was fabulous. Very underrated and highly recommended.
Wasn t planning to eat here but our destination had a line up. Despite being short staffed the service was quick and we enjoyed tasty mini huevos rancheros with fresh fruit including cherries and to die for pan fried potatoes and the vegetarian skillet (without mushrooms) and the yummy oat bread and jam. Ate outside on a sunny day! Will be back! Dietary restrictions: No gluten free bread or muffins but adaptable for someone with just an allergy
Easily the best food place on the street.
bad abuse
After encountering long waits at a couple of highly touted brunch spots in the neighborhood, we happened upon this quiet little gem. Welcoming, attentive service, delicious standards done perfectly, and excellent coffee made for a delightful Sunday meal. One member of our party declared that the eggs benedict was the best she d ever had. The home-made oaten bread is a real treat, too, and the fruit is all fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend this spot.
Excellent food and fantastic service!! Great little spot with very reasonable prices.
Classic eggs Benedict was excellent!
I love this place. One of the only cheap diners left in town. If that s what I m in the mood for, the food here always hits the spot. And they have nice-to-haves that much more expensive places don t real maple syrup standard with the pancakes & homemade strawberry compote/jam standard with all toast. Big fan.
Wing is the best
The best breakfast spot
This place .is simply .the best my partner and I wanted a cozy brunch on a rainy day and this was the place to be. The service? Amazing. The atmosphere? Cozy. The food? Unreal. We got the hue is rancheros and the avocado and salmon Benedict with some fruit .and let me tell you. The grapes in my side dish were the best I ve ever had. The portions were massive and the price is right I ll tell you that much for free. We are definitely coming back. This place is a treasure
Cozy place to get delicious brunch for a fair price.
New menu is great! Breakfast potatoes are soooooo good. Lovely conscientious server. Unpretentious and casual atmosphere.
Most underrated brunch spot! Ive never lined up, you can get a plate for under $15, and everything is always super fresh and well prepared. :)
Great little cafe off the beaten path. Great brunch.
Great little place for brunch. Can t believe what the kitchen staff can whip up in their little kitchen, delicious. I especially enjoyed the potatoes.
Delicious, great service, good prices. What a find.
This breakfast is beyond my imagination, very delicious, and the service and the boss couple are very friendly.
My family and I came here when the Blue Fox had too big a line-up for our patience. And we were glad we did. The potatoes were outstanding. All the meals were 4 or 5 star worthy, the service a definite 5, Overall, I was between a 4 and a 5 star rating. I let the fact that it is rated 4.2 at the time of my writing guide my decision. I decided it should go up from there and not down, so I went with a 5. Had it had a 4.7, Id likely have gone with a 4. :) Either way, well be back.
An amazing brunch place! Would definitely recommend!
Such a great little spot for breakfast! The service was super friendly, the food was delicious and all for a great price too. I had the traditional breakfast that comes with the works and even homemade bread. YUM. Definitely recommend!!
I wanted to leave a one star review so that others wouldnt go here but I just couldnt do that to my favourite breakfast spot in Vic. Theres rarely a wait at peak times on the weekend and the food is always delicious. Best spot in the city for eggs benny and a hot cup of tea!
I hesitate to leave a review for Avalon, as I enjoy how quiet it usually is during weekend brunch. However, I dont live in Victoria anymore, so eff it. Hands-down, no-questions-asked, best breakfast spot in Victoria. Ive been enjoying eggs benny from here for the last 10+ years and Ive never had a single poor experience. Youll be buzzing on caffeine, full of food, and on your way while those jabronis standing in line at Jam and Blue Fox havent even sniffed a sip of coffee. Do yourself a favour, go to Avalon!
I love Avalon. In terms of downtown breakfast places, its slight out of the way... but that means its rarely busy and there almost never a line. Its a small diner that serves hearty comfort food. They make their own oaten bread and jams. On my last visit, I had the Avalon Skillet and left super satisfied. My eggs were perfectly poached and everything was great!
Had an excellent meal and service. Was impressed that the restaurant makes its own bread and simple syrups. There was only 4 tables available with the current Covid restrictions but we had made a reservation so it wasnt a problem.
Quiet place with good food. Very friendly and chatty service. Good choice of eggs benedict. My favorite is the salmon lox. Crispy potatoes with the homemade hot sauce never disappoints. Coffee is always hot and refilled regularly. Fruit cup has grapes, strawberries and oranges! not just melons!
Best brunch place and very delicious food Loved it
Food was good, service was excellent. Definitely will visit again once we visit Victoria.
delicious food and lovely staff!
I like a good breakfast joint! Nice place, good food, good coffee. Kudos for the homemade bread. Definitely recommended.
My partner and I love Avalon! Its so nice to have a delicious meal delivered when you dont feel like going out for breakfast. Eggs are always perfect poached soft, great hollondaise and love their homemade oaten toast and jam. Today I asked for no bread with my benny and they were happy to offer and serve it with extra potatoes instead. Yum!
Great spot for breakfast. Excellent homemade oat bread. Would return.
We just had breakfast here. Perfect medium eggs Benny and the vegetarian options are pretty good. The food was fresh, hot and great with big plates. The service is excellent and your coffee is always topped up. Clean and quaint atmosphere. Good prices for the amount of food.
Great place for breakfast, simple and no nonsense. House made oat bread, jam, and hot sauce all delicious.
This place is fantastic. One of the best traditional breakfasts I have had in a long time. We are from out of town and drove away from the downtown area to try a different place. Terrific! The ambiance, service with a smile, and food are phenomenal. Highly recommended!
Food is great and one of the only places you can get an entree for less than $15 in Victoria right now
Awesome little hole in the wall. Super clean as is the washroom. Food is so fresh and cooked just as you ask. Server Kristi rocks. She always has a smile and great at her job. They do a lot of take out too for the morning shift. Well done, another new favorite breakfast place. NOTE they are closed on Thursdays.
Good service. Food was bland/slightly greasy though.
Lukewarm food delivered. Meaning they allowed food to sit long enough to cool a bit before sending it off. And the syrup ended up all over the bag. No account for bag being crushed in carrier bags that font fit bags properly. Doesnt matter that they arent responsible for driver handling. The fact they dont care to send hot food and to bag with thought of potential issues like this shows the lack of care they actually have. No pride on food or presentation.
I left a negative review months ago after I felt the quality had gone down. However, Im editing because today I returned with a friend and the food was amazing, much better than places that are a lot busier and more expensive. The food was great, really fresh, delicious and well cooked, the service was phenomenal, the price is also more than fair. 100% recommend.
Fantastic food and service!! Must eat here! Eggs Benny were delicious, pancakes light and fluffy and the skillet was incredibly tasty!! Did I mention the potatoes!?? They have got to be the best and most delicious potatoes ever!! Crispy outside, soft and tender inside, perfectly seasoned!!! Amazing they are all homemade! 10 stars!! Server was super attentive and kind! And great for Pokemonners since theres a stop out front and we made a new friend from the restaurant!
Tried this spot for the first time, food was fantastic and good experience overall. We went here on a Sunday morning at 9 and there was plenty of tables available. We were greeted right away and offered water to start. Once we had our orders placed, it took a bit of time for our food to arrive. There seemed to be two cooks in the kitchen. The food arrived and it was worth the longer wait. It had good flavour and was well presented. I recommend this as a weekend breakfast spot!
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Always the sweetest people working. A small lovely spot with awesome food. Have never been disappointed. Seems family owned and operated. For breakfast you can t beat it. A quiet hole in the wall, very calm and sweet atmosphere. Thank you for the great breakfasts <3
Excellent food, and lots for the value! Always more than I can eat! Thats what takeout boxes are for!
I just had the Avalon Skillet and it was large, delicious and great value. The eggs were well cooked, and tasty. The homemade oat bread was delicious and I loved the strawberry compote thingy to go with it was nice. The potatoes were also nice and crispy. I will come back with friends and family.
Great food, good prices and lovely staff. Shared a breakfast with my mom, because the portion was so generous. Lots for both of us, and the homemade bread was awesome. Also the hashbrowns were so crispy.....yummy!!
This was one of my favourite restaraunts to go to for breakfast. Their food is amazing, service was great and I love the owners. Their prices beat any other place in Victoria. I would have said this is the best place to get breakfast in Victoria. Their food is made with love, However last time I came to dine with my boyfriend I was left extremely disappointed and upset with the service. This older woman who just started working there recently is super rude. She overcharged for extra sausage and potatoes when we did not order those. Then when we asked if she could fix her mistake she argued and was very angry and gave attitude. She agreed to refund the mistake but then passed over the machine with 40$ charge on it after we already paid. When we told her we re not paying for the meal a second time & what we wanted was the refund for the items she overcharged , she gaslit us and said well if you already paid then that s great that s a good thing . Not acknowledging that she didn t know how to use the machine, and just blamed us for her mistake. It was a very strange experience and she was not someone who could be reasoned with. I have never had any problem with this restaurant until this woman started working there. It was an unfair situation and sadly I don t think we ll be coming back until she is gone. It sucks because we were regulars and loved this restaurant. If one day I go back and she s gone, I will update this review to 5 stars.
Yessss, always a great breaky. Love the homemade bread.
My wife and I ordered the skillet and huevos rancheros. I think the best way to describe the food is simple, but incredibly well made. The skillet was incredibly flavourful, and all the the textures for the different ingredients were perfect. It was the first time I tried Avalon, but it won t be a last!
Its OK. Definitely worth visiting for hungry tourists who dont want to wait for a table at the Blue Fox Cafe!
Breakfast was delicious and staff was very friendly. Cozy atmosphere
I really loved this restaurant, they have good priced food & portions. Right before trying to catch a flight, I was starving and thought I d check out my favourite breakfast spot before I leave town. I walk in and there s already a food spillage on the floor, then the only other available table was dirty. I sat on the dirty table to order my food. As I was sitting there 2 guest walked in & the server told me to get off my dirty table so someone else can sit there; and told me to sit on the other table with all the dirty salsa under the table I told her she should AT LEAST clean the spillage on the floor so I can sit there. Because the two other guests changed their mind of eating there, the server comes back to me and tells me that she s refusing my food order (AFTER I ALREADY PAID & TIPPED HER) because they lost business . I told her she already has a (clean) safety WHIMIS hazard here and she s trying to refuse a black woman service? After she confronted me and embarrassed me in front of the everyone in the restaurant, 4 other woman left the restaurant after seeing how I was being treated & apologized to me for being treated that way. That s definitely the last time I will be eating there. All I wanted was some quick breakfast before my 5 hour flight home! Instead of trying to refuse me food that I paid for, you guys should focus on keeping your restaurant clean for people to sit comfortably in & have enough staff to service customers; instead of being so unprofessional with me. I will not be recommending this place to locals no longer. Thankfully, after making my point I got the food I PAID & TIPPED for to go.
First time visit. This Avalon Skillet was huge! And fantastic! Service was stellar! Loved the home made bread too. I highly recommend this place. I ll try it again.
Great value, fast service! Was a bit disappointment by my breakfast potatoes (too hard) the first time I went, but two thumbs up more recently! Glad to see prices not yet affected by inflation too much!
Great food and service! Loooove the potatoes reliable, fair prices and usually no wait :)
Got takeout vegetarian eggs benedict, breakfast potatoes, and a cinnamon roll. Potatoes were crispy, but super oily and tasteless, not even salty. Eggs benedict was also bland. The bread was extremely dense, the mushrooms mushy and sans seasoning, and the hollandaise was good, but spicy in a way that it tickles the back of your throat but you dont actually taste any depth of flavour. Great cinnamon roll though!
Not sure if it was just cause i got it take out and trying to make it live up to the standards of cup of joes eggs benny but id never get eggs benny here again . I tried a new restaurant and my mom was gunna make eggs benny but we wanted to support restaurants during covid but honestly i feel i have to pay her back for that meal because it was so not worth the money. The hash is just large potatoes didnt even taste seasoned and werent even soft all the way through. The hollidaise sauce was watery and they dont mention it comes with potatoes in the option so we ended up getting extra , that we didnt need . Very basic.
Clean, Covid Friendly Great food.. Great service Friendly knowledge staff Comfort food..so yummy
My Favorite Breakfast Restaurant Good food at reasonable prices, friendly service. Always consistent
Upon first trying this restaurant, I ordered through SkipTheDishes. I was fed up with trying to order eggs Benedict and recieving what one would expect from eggs Benedict. Every single restaurant I tried had something unusual and unexpected to add to it and it never was as good as your simple, typical eggs Benedict would be without the added uniqueness . When I ordered here, I got what I expected, and it was pleasantly good! Next visit I ate in restaurant and was again impressed. It s a small establishment, and very quaint. It s not dressed to impress but that s what s nice about it. The menu is simple and yet satisfying and the man who was working was genuinely very kind and accommodating. I would highly reccomend
Great value, big portions. Friendly.
Its a small hole-in-the-wall kinda place, staff is really friendly, food is decently priced and the portions are also pretty good. I recommend the skillet, and to get the oaten bread they make in house, but in sure whichever option you end up going with will be delicious.
Tasty food and quick service
Doesn t look like much but actually pretty good - hollandaise was a little cold but with a little salt and pepper everything was delicious :) orange juice rocked
Excellent spot for breakfast/brunch. As good as any of the breakfast places that always have big lineups. Best pancakes in town!
Great food, service and pricing. Homemade bread on my Benny was amazing.
Great little Café for breakfast and Brunch. good tasty food and friendly service, important to me.
Good food. Good price !
Small place, but good food! I really enjoyed the salmon eggs benni, potatoes were well done and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Staff here is very nice as well, would come back again!
New friendly owners! Not the same old Avalon, you may remember from years ago. Many years have passed since I ve avoided this restaurant after many uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences. Happy to say, it s improved. Today I picked up breakfast through DoorDash and will be back again to support them.
Had late breakfast at avalon restaurant and it was delicious...small family run comfortable place to eat good menu with great prices with fast friendly great service definitely recommended
We each got an eggs benny and I do not recommend. Our eggs were more boiled than poached, the hollandaise was similar to mayonnaise with paprika in it, the potatoes were large unflavoured pieces, both the ham and the bacon were cheap and chewy. The food smelled and tasted had, each of us could barely eat a few bites, and it was nearly $50. Save your money for something with flavour.
Great portion, food was hot but the eggs were not medium poached, the ham on the Benny was so thick it was hard to eat. And the potatoes were cut so big that they were raw on the inside. Benny sauce was good tho.
Avalon is a cozy place for breakfast, their avocado toast is excellent, fresh fruit and generous portions. Feels like home.
I travel all over Canada and get to enjoy many different food establishments on route, or sometimes not...I ordered the breakfast salmon lox Bennie. For a hotel delivery and the restrictions of packaging I have to say that this is the best Ive had and without a doubt the best value for money so far, large portions and exactly the taste you expect. Very happy this morning...lol...
Good food and good service
Excellent food, and a great, personable server. Will definitely eat there again. Prices are really reasonable and good sized servings.
Have been coming on and off for years, and the food was always good but it has recently levelled up to super excellent! Also very friendly and helpful staff and a cozy place.
Lovely service and good food.
One of the best breakfasts I ve had in quite a while. The house made bread was delicious The hollandaise was spot on The potatoes were cooked perfectly And the service was friendly and fast. Will definitely visit again.
Just ordered Eggs Benny, pancakes, over easy eggs, bacon and home fries for breakfast on Skip, the food was still warm, best takeout plating I ve seen. I haven t had breakfast this good in Victoria yet and I ve been everywhere. Highly recommended!
The blender would have spooked me. But thankfully the lady prepared us to not be spooked. Overall, not a spooky experience. 8/10 would blend again
Nice little place friendly staff, Good food specialty oat bread which good, a bit heavey sort of muffin like.
What a fantastic find! I had the skillet breakfast and everything was so fresh and cooked perfectly. The in-house made bread and strawberry/rhubarb preserves were a nice surprise and Im sorry I couldnt eat it all. All this for $10.95! They were doing a very brisk Door-Dash and Skip-the-Dishes business also. I will be back here very soon. :)
A lovely little gem of a restaurant with delicious, healthy, homestyle food! Fast and friendly service. Prices are very affordable! Photo shows the breakfast skillet with scrambled eggs - to go!
Good food, great service. Very good price.
I eat at a lot of breakfast places and Avalon really delivers on value and quality. The simple menu offers many options, all prepared with real skill, and for surprisingly low prices! Service was kind and prompt. A gem.
Love them
Had this for the first time via skip. I would never eat here. One order we asked for medium eggs and no mushrooms neither was done. The potatoes from the hash were basically boiled potatoes, soggy non toasted toast. 2 stars for how quick it was.
Affordable breakfast, very tasty. Staff is kind, no line up. Love it!
has edible foods not quite Ikea breakfast excellent service
hope this favourite breakfast gem doesnt get too pop. great bennies, & oaten toast :O
Servers didnt speak English and Food was Terrible
Nice food with great service. Love their homemade Oaten toast and strawberry jam!
I love this little place! Ive only have breakfast but Ive have it many times and its great! Ive never had to wait, which is rare in a weekend morning in Victoria. Service is friendly. Oaten toast is delicious!
Their homemade oat bread is quite nice.
Delicious, chewy, housemade oaten toast is a must try. All served up in a bright, clean, simple cafe. Hit the spot for breakfast.
Pretty good food, no long lines which is nice on a Saturday morning.
Friendly service and food was quite good. The bread they serve with breakfast is dense but very good. Also homemade jam whats better than that?
Top class food and prices are comparably cheap to other restaurants. Quick and friendly service. Keeps us coming back again and again
avalon is great because you can get tasty eggs benny without waiting a million years
Food excellent, service attentive and friendly. I took the classic and could not finish it, while in other places I can!! It is very filling you up with good food. They even have vegetarian or no carbs options. Very thoughful!
Fantastic breakfast nook. Waaaay better than the overrated Blue Fox.
The oaten toast is too real! I suggest going w a gluten free friend so they can give you theirs :)
Had avocado toast with salmon. No skimping on the portions and it was quite good! Friendly hard-working owners. We will return.
If you want a quick fill that s easy on the wallet, this is the place. Is you want anything that resembles a food experience , not so much. Uninspired bland food. Friendly staff.
The food is average and they straight up refuse to make their home fries any degree of crispy. Whether you ask for crispy, extra crispy, extremely crispy, or even - my personal favorite- 5 times whatever your definition of crispy is, they will be soft white potatoes every time. Not golden brown home fries.
Wonderful friendly staff. Had the eggs benny and apple cheesecake French toast. Delicious highly recommend
Had Caesar salad with soup and toast. Half the lettuce was brown, the soup taste like runny mashed potatoes, and the toast was more of a grainy brick. Bad experience all around and the waitress wasn t very knowledgeable or experienced.
good bennys
Cute little place for some food
Why are people waiting in endless queues for breakfast when there is this little gem of a restaurant where you can always get a seat? Friendly couple, great specials, tasty coffee.
Some of the best smoothies Ive had. Really good brunch burger aswell!!
Pretty average, a friend talked highly of it but I didnt feel it matched the hype
This place is garbage now!
Great home made food!
Quiet (for a reason). Dont know how anyone can give this a five. I can barely give it a three. Poached eggs in a bowl with lots of water at bottom, that were cooked to soft boiled egg consistency. Was looking forward to homemade oatbread and strawberry rhubarb jam but read was tasteless, jam was not really a jam. Presentation was non existent. Service, sausages and coffee okay. I would go here if I needed quiet but with so many other great breakfasts spots around ...why? Wont be back.
Keep your expectations low and you wont be disappointed. This is a compliment... very old school atmosphere here.
Oatin toast overcooked or stale
A tiny hidden gem. Great breakfast skillet (and great value!) I loved the homemade hot sauce so much, I bought a bottle.
Disappointing
