2915 Douglas St, Victoria, BC V8T 4M8, Canada
Busy, retro nook offering build-your-own eggs Benedict & other original bites for breakfast & lunch.
It's hard to know where to start, Spoons is amazing. Me and my fiance are starting to become regulars. We have been coming back at least 1-2 times a month or more. Our favorite is "The Prussa" basically the team of chefs cook up anything of their choosing, it's a one of a kind dish and they NEVER remake it again. As a picky eater, I still end up loving their choices, the cooks just work so well together and always make an amazing dish. I also personally love their coffee, it's nice and rich. Their waiters are super friendly. The restaurant is very kid friendly, we always bring our 6 month old with us in her stroller and they make sure we have room for her and that there is room for other customers and themselves. I highly recommend Spoons, it's worth it!
This place has a great atmosphere and really does a good job of being a classic diner. The food was excellent and came quickly. The milkshakes were amazing as well. Will definitely recommend to friends and come back again on our next trip to Victoria.
This restaurant is a great spot for brunch, offering traditional breakfast dishes that are quite satisfying. The staff is very enthusiastic and welcoming. The only thing to note is that the parking area is right beside the restaurant, which can be easy to miss if you’re driving in from the main road.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Diner in Town - A Must Visit! Spoons Diner is hands down the best place to grab a bite in town! From the moment you walk in, you feel like family. The retro vibe and fun decor make it a unique experience, but the real star is the food. The portions are generous, and everything is cooked to perfection. Whether you're craving a classic breakfast, a hearty lunch, or a sweet treat, Spoons delivers every time. I highly recommend the pancakes—fluffy, delicious, and bigger than the plate! The service is top-notch too, with staff who go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of.
I visited Spoons Diner based on all the positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. We ordered an omelette with some veggies, which turned out to be very oily, and the potatoes that came with it were overcooked. We also tried the Tiramisu French Toast, which was fine but didn’t quite capture the flavor its name promised. Overall, a disappointing visit.
This place is fantastic. I love the funky atmosphere with the old movie posters and vintage diner feel. The service was great and the coffee is delicious. I got a make your own Benedict and you can choose if you want pesto, chipotle, or regular hollandaise. My partner got chicken and waffles and said it was amazing (and it even had cheese curds). Prices were average. We would definitely come back!
Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Atmosphere was like an old fashioned diner. Food was so delicious. My daughter & 22 mo old grandson also loved the food and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends & return if in Victoria again. I live in Brockville, Ontario.
I found this hidden gem which is just a hop, skip and a jump away from my place. Not sure why I haven’t noticed it or heard about it until now. Ordered their standard breakfast and upgraded to the waffles. Everything was of decent quality, especially the waffles. Better than other breakfast establishments in Victoria and they didn’t overcook my eggs like Jam and The Ruby. Outstanding price value as well. The prices were lower than places downtown, perhaps they have lower overhead. Will visit again, definitely worth a try and worthy of their well received reviews already online.
Love Spoons Diner! Great friendly service and amazing food!! The Saxe Point berry waffle stack is my favorite!! Portions are a generous size. Love all of the artwork and trivia cards. Be sure to check Spoons out. Great job Spoons Diner!
Its my favorite brunch place in town. Great service, a fun environment, and always great food.
Casual diner experience with fresh food & all day breakfast. They have an espresso machine so...very good coffee too. Cheerful, efficient service.
Cool vintage diner with eclectic decoration based on pop culture and a great atmosphere. Portions are huge, food in nice and service is friendly... what else can you hope for? We ordered egg Benedict, pancakes and an omelette, and we were pretty happy with all of them, especially the Bennies!. It gets busy Sunday mornings, so plan ahead.
Love love this place. A go-to with my visitors and service is admirable. My waffle was on the heavier side so dive in if you prefer a waffle with a bite to it.
Great food and friendly staff. Just dont expect to see them again for coffee refills until its time to pay
Dietary restrictions: If you need sugar free syrup , bring your own as they dont have it Food
Amazing food, great service. Highly recommended
Brought me back to my youth.. not sure if thats a good thing..lol
Just like a 50s style diner, Sat at the counter. Great food, awesome service.
Been coming here for years. The food is awesome the service is great and the vibe is magic. Dont change. Be what you are.
Simply delicious! Love the atmosphere
We stopped here on the way into Victoria from the airport. It had a great range of brunch options and the portion sizes were huge! It had a great atmosphere and would recommend.
Just finished breakfast, so damn good! Breakfast poutine is amazing!
Great atmosphere, awesome food.
Awesome service
Great food, great service, great breakfast experience
A fun diner in Victoria. Its a must stop for my son and I. We play trivia and let them pick what we are eating for breakfast. We pop in everytime we are in town for work.
Very nice friendly place, great food
Fun, old school loud place, feels like a family spot! Servings were huge, easily could have shared and left feeling full! Family ordered the Apple Fritter waffles, Parliament Hill Hash and The Rockland eggs Benny!
Dont let the parking denture you , the food is amazing and has a great atmosphere went for breakfast and I couldnt be happier Parking: Not the nicest parking lot ,as there alot of homeless there but theres always parking
most delicious, basic
Best breakfast in Victoria
Food is always amazing love this place for breakfast
Great food
VERY good food! Highly recommend their omelettes and other breakfast items!
Spoons is a wonderful brunch diner in a great location outside of downtown. Their food is good general brunch fare; however, they really shine in customer service. I have never had such attentive, happy, and helpful servers. The atmosphere is wonderful and doesnt even feel stressed during the rush. It also has a lot of larger tables able to accommodate more people. Keep it up Spoons!
Difficult to find if youre unfamiliar as we were. You can only see the sign from one direction on the road. Food was disappointing to me.
An absolute must in Victoria! Fun atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food make for a great experience every single time here!
Classy diner with amazing staff. The food was awesome. Came here because of the great reviews and did not disappoint.
Awesome place for a delicious breakfast. Loved the atmosphere and the service.
Great eclectic atmosphere and great comfort food
Great food. We had to share omelette! Vegetarian options: Omelette. Food : 5/5 |
Best pancakes in town! I highly recommend the cinn city cakes
Aweosme brunch please with great choices! Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor and door openers Food : 5/5 |
Awesome meal. Awesome ambiance
Lovely spot to enjoy a decent brunch
Best place for Brunch, its become part of a family tradition. Lots of great memories, excellent food and Amazing staff!!!
Beats Dennys
Had the Tiramisu french toast.. heavenly and big portions
Loved it!
My favourite breakfast spot 5 years running !!
The best breakfast joint in town!
Outstanding service from Ella. Food was delicious and filling. A bit noisy inside but loved the overall experience. I have been following Spoons on FB for 5+ years and finally got to enjoy it. Thank you, thank you...
Our familys, go to spot!
Great food! Busy place but staff are very friendly. Good prices
Food always great..always a line up but it goes fast. Parking: Many homeless in the lot but no interactions Kid-friendliness: I noticed a few toddlers
Having eaten here on a number of occasions , great food. Better than floyds diner. Having only one location the chow is more consistent .
Congrats
Tried the gambling Prusa, and they gave me the most delicious breakfast meal I couldve gotten, everything about it was so we put together and tasted wonderful. Plus amazing and quick service, and fun diner atmosphere made it very enjoyable. Absolutely deserving of five stars!
Lost the coin flip but was good.
Still one of the most solid breakfast joints in Victoria.
Great diner and staff will feel very appreciated by the wait staff. I have only good things to say. If you love old school diners then this is the place for you
Great place. Breakfast was great
Just love this place have great service and Food!
The food is very good but the service is very slow. It took 15-20 minutes for someone to take my order and then almost an hour to receive the food. They really work at their own pace here and dont seem to care about the customers time. Hope they work on this.
Breakfast, lunch, or breakfast for lunch, this is one of my go-to breakfast joints, and while I do miss the Burnside Birds Nest , Ill continue to keep coming back for more. Accessible parking and entrance available.
Favourite part: Trivia cards on the table to quiz each other while you wait for the food! Cons: Tables are way too close together. I felt like I was on a double date with the couple beside us. Pros: delicious, large portions, cool atmosphere.
Eclectic diner with great food, service, and atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place.
I have brought many out of town friends here for breakfast and it always hits the spot. A menu to read while you wait to get a seat? Genius
Love everything about this place. Only gave 4 stars on atmosphere because it is always very busy when I go.
Great diner!
Delicious food with fresh ingredients in a comfortable diner setting and five star service.
Baileys & smarties milkshake is sooo good. Food is also amazing, great portions great spot!
I thought it was going to be epic based on some reviews and the photos, but honestly it was pretty basic. Ive broken it down into sections Portions - were huge, and generous Flavor - on the bland side of things Pricing - pretty average, about $20-$30 Service - fantastic service! Our server was friendly, helpful, and extremely conversational with our kids Kitchen wait times - about 10-15 min for food on Thursday at around 12 noon. Location was a nice place, a bit sketchy, with a lot of questionable people using drugs around the area. While parking, we felt a little apprehensive and thought of leaving because there were so many people passed out or under the influence in the area, and we had 3 kids. Overall I gave this place 3 *** because of the lack of flavor in the food. This is purely my opinion, but I like some spices and blends of complimenting spices, herbs and sauces. Im ok with spicy as well, but you may not be and in that case maybe you wanna give it a try!
Food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Had Big Dipper and both the gravy and the au jus had a strong burn flavour to them. And they use sweet onions in the sandwich, which meant I was getting a distinctly sweet bite instead of the salty/umami taste I was expecting. Not bad, just not expected. The restaurant is very much a 70s diner with movie posters and magazine covers from the 50s. Staff were very helpful and friendly - had interactions with at least 3 different people and they were all great.
Great breakfast place, I ve tried the egg Benedict and it was delicious. Nice vintage / hippy style restaurant. The staff was nice and the food was reasonably price.
Love how colourful and cute this restaurant is. Our waitress, Kelly, was amazing and I highly recommend the Hallouminati eggs benedict the tomato jam is delicious!!
Service and atmosphere were good, but the food wasnt. Spicy (even if I ordered no spicy food) unexpected taste. Food : 2/5
My Daughter and I visited, with 6 friends. Staff were so friendly. The menu is varied. Meal sizes are huge! and so good. Food : 5/5 |
What I liked about this place was the service. Everyone seemed happy that we were there. Our server was awesome. We were a group of 7 and everyone got exactly what they wanted even if it was not exactly on the menu. I would go back.
My favourite diner in the city! Good vibes, good food, and good people!
Parking: Lock your vehicle Food
Mahoney
Always love this place. What a nice diner feels old nice staff I tried the thing on the menu where you ll let the chef pick it was amazing. I normally don t like spicy food, but there was just enough little bit of spice sauce all over the stuff I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I will be back again with some friends.
Food marginal. Fries cold, clubhouse sandwich had soggy bread on bottom, waffle overdone, coffee poor, server scantily clad in tacky shirt made for a bar, washroom not clean, inner city vibe. Not the previous vibe of funky, grudge, trendy. Parking lot shared with street dwellers... Felt unsafe walking to and from the restaurant. Used to be a treat to visit but wont be coming back.
Not impressed!
Top of the list for an amazing breakfast, child friendly, unique diner experience and quick service
Love the old school decor and atmosphere. Food was amazing! Service was excellent! Will definitely return if were back in Victoria. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free English muffin option Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu, with LOTS of food and very reasonable price.
I was craving a nice breakfast And this place delivered just that Along with the awesome service I enjoyed my hearty meal iam the one that will order French toast with a side of toast everything tasted good The french toast was delicious Wasnt too busy but busy enough
If you want fast service of too much delicious food at reasonable prices DESPITE the appearance of a 30 minute wait? THIS is your restaurant. Friendly, efficient staff punches through that line to get the latest potential client seated asap. Same staff encourages your group to relax over your meal somehow, making it a great place to catch up with old friends. Kitchen is ON POINT. Less than 5 minutes from order to service. (Just enough time for servers to check your coffee and water levels twice) Please bring Tupperware, left-over boxes are provided, but you will probably not finish your delicious reasonably priced meal. Parking: Please secure your vehicle and contents, there is a shelter for unhoused that fronts on the parking lot Kid-friendliness: Its a DINER. Lots of art on the walls, coloring pages available, every table has a box of Trivial Pursuit cards on it Wheelchair accessibility: Exactly NO stairs, accessible washrooms, most tables have removable chairs to allow wheelchair access
Massive portions, you leave in a food coma. Deadly brunch, fast and friendly servers, cool decor and vibe to the place. This is what a diner should be. Will go back Food : 4/5
It was such a cute diner and the food was so good. We brought our 3 very picky boys and they ate so much! The service was also so good! It was a great find on our visit to Victoria.
Visiting from the States and we were in search for a great brunch spot and came across Spoon s. We enjoyed the vintage atmosphere and our wonderful server, Camille (we hope we spelled your name right!). Camille was attentive, kind, and extremely friendly to have a conversation with us at the end of our meal. We will be back when we are up here again! Thank you Spoon s!
This was the first and it is not going to be the last time that we come to Spoons. Best Waffles in BC. Their tea would make any Brit proud and Bacon at the perfect crunch and chew. Youve won a customer to your side... Vegetarian options: They not only have options to make something without the meat it normally has, but there are also dishes that are Vegan. Dietary restrictions: They we kind to respect our needs and love it.
Breakfast poutine hash was amazing. The portions are huge. Really fast service, and thats a good thing cause there is always a wait on the weekends. Will definitely return! Update:. Still awesome! Today I had Toms Benny which is a grilled cheese Benny. Delicious. I wasnt a big fan of the coffee there, but had a really tasty Americano today, and that will definitely be my go to. Service is always fantastic. Update: New menu, but some new delicious additions, including the Big Rigg which is my new favorite. The roast beef is delicious!
Cool old fashioned diner vibes. Tasty food! I enjoyed it. Prices ok too.
Great breakfast place
It was such a great experience! The meat eater in our group loved their food, and as a vegetarian, the Prusa that the kitchen made for me was incredible! Service was amazing too! Absolutely recommend this place and will return again.
Love it! Food, service and everything is great about spoons diner. We go there for breakfast everytime we visit Victoria
Landed in the Victoria airport and over heard someone mention this diner, it certainly lived up to its review!
Great place with a great feel. Portion sizes huge. Service was awesome. What a gem.
Food portions were huge, food was funtastic. So glad we found this gem!
Soo good that we went again the next day. Huge portions, potatoes are perfectly done - crispy. Simple but still somehow very delicious food.
I came here because the reviews were great. They were right! The eggs benny was so darn good, presentation was nice too, they have a great chef. Sarah was super friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. The girl that seated me was also very nice. The prices were also very reasonable. The whole team makes this experience so good! PS: I WILL BE BACK!
everything about Spoons is awesome!
Great home cooked style meals Large servings Food
Great place for a delicious family breakfast Large portions, friendly service We will be back! Food : 5/5
Great place to have a brunch
Love the theme! The potatoes are fantastic!
Such a pleasant surprise! First time there while our car was being serviced at Hyundai. Very cool atmosphere, friendly service and a great value at a great price! Will be back!
Spoons is a great little home style diner. Friendly staff and attentive. Just the right level of care. Way to go Spoons! #loveyourfloor
What a great place, but please dont go there when Im planning on going so I dont have to wait for a table. Thanks. But if you insist on going, I dont blame you, its worth it.
Unfortunately, I was not able to come here for breakfast at 10am because there was a long line and there were 7 of us. And there were no empty seats Im sure next time I will definitely be able to have breakfast here Food
super fast and very busy
Went with the option to have the chef create a surprise savoury dish for me, have no idea what went into it but all I know was that it was delicious and so filling! Could only finish half of it and was a great price (I had the option to flip a coin for getting the dish for free or paying double but I chickened out lol) Also loved the eclectic decor, lots of old school classic comics and movie poster art
The staff is unbelievable rude. I would avoid this place. The abuse is not worth it. There are much better places to spend your money.
Really enjoyed our stay there! Good food, very friendly staff & a reeaally cool Interior style!
First time here and it was great. Our server was friendly and outgoing. The food was incredible. 11/10 Im coming back here again. Even the small line to get in moved fairly quickly. I waited about fifteen minutes for a table for two.
Decent food... decent service. What youd expect from a 3 star diner.
Great service. Great food.
Great spot for breakfast, absolutely love the food. This place is delicious and adorable! Kinda scary part of downtown but I promise its worth it! Parking: Lock your doors.
This place is what Floyds used to be - awesome atmosphere, attentive and kind service, and AMAZING food. Absolutely bomb. I love this place.
Good food, great service
Love this place, always delicious food and excellent service. A must if you are visiting Victoria
Good coffee , fun design, lots of parking
Absolutely marvellous! we hit the new year s day rush but definitely worth the wait! loved the cute and janky(in a good way) vibe and vintage atmosphere! everything on the menu looked great and the few we tried were so tasty! Great prices along with huge portions. As my sister said, best breakfast potatoes on the side, with trivia to go with. Would for sure return, maybe even try our luck with the prusa!
Brunch on New Years Day was fantastic. 3 of us got there at 11:55, and had to wait about 30min in line, but the hostess kept checking on everyone, and the long line kept moving. It was worth the wait. My chicken/waffle/poutine/Benny was amazing. Everything tasted great. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Coffee refills were always hot. Will definitely go back.
The host did their best to get us a table quickly on a busy day. Food was awesome, Both types of hash were very good. I feel like the decor needs a little update and unfortunately they were cleaning cutlery right next to my head. Would go again, great time!
Stopped in for breakfast. Wow was it good. Great portions, okay price, creative items but tradition to a real breakfast agenda at a real diner. I will be back.
This is a favourite of mine when in Victoria. They dont mess around, no light breakfasts here. The service is always friendly and accommodating.
Its a must in the city an authentic original restaurant! The Prussa is a nice surprise!
Great breakfast place very similar to Floyds diner but better food!
food is good, service is good. 3 stars because the area is creepy and doesn t feel safe. Also smells like cigarettes in the entry.
Really had the great diner experience here. This staff is top notch singling out our server Kaillie for above and beyond service and charm. We had the egg bennies and they came up to our orders in all categories but for amount and lacked garnish. I am known for humour and fussy Fung Shway, and I missed having cantelope or whatever fruit in season for my brunch. The plate was big enough and my eyes saw room for more. I figure that groceries costs climbing may be a factor. Decor is the best in diner traditional, and I love the movie posters. The tables are well spaced and there is a cozy nook for film noir escapades. So much to look at that the busy Douglas Street rather noiselessly went about its business while my partner and I flirted over the excellent coffee. My cappuccino was specially crafted by Kaillie as one of the best I ever had. I needed nothing else while enjoying it. Anyone who has a desire to enjoy a great diner should try Spoons. We are planning to come back really soon. Quick update, as Spoons has become our Go to diner. Had croissant over the moon, delightful!
Great funky place for breakfast! Casual 50s decor, friendly servers great food Worth a visit.
Well done!!
The service was excellent. The food was good. Love the restaurant. Portions are decent. Coffee is fresh and hot. The only drawback is that there seems to be a rougher crowd that congregates outside as there is homeless housing on the second level of the building. It was a bit daunting walking up to the restaurant with a group of nefarious individuals watching you. There are no issues once inside the restaurant.
Love the menu variety! Such great choices its hard to make a decision. Vegetarian options: Great to replace breakfast meat for Avocado Food : 5/5 |
This is a little gem tucked away. The service was really good...friendly, attentive, charming and funny. The food came very quick and came as ordered. Good? You bet it was. :-) Will certainly be back.
Great breakfast spot to catch up with friends. Prussa all day. Parking: Lots of parking but ensure you lock the doors due to the local homelessness issues. Kid-friendliness: My kids love it here, and there is no reason they shouldnt. Wheelchair accessibility: On the main floor with a ramp from the parking lot.
We had a great meal with very good, timely & friendly service.
Amazing! I had an Eggs Benedict dish, served on a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, Chipotle mayo, and the Hollandaise sauce. It was so delicious! Cant wait to go back and try something else. I also had a lavender tea latte. Beautiful!
This place is a hidden gem. Nothing fancy, very down to earth. Great food and great service. Its a diner and it really shows.
I absolutely love Spoons and always make a point of stopping in when Im in Victoria. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, and the vintage atmosphere is great. I usually get the Prusa (the chefs choice) because its always a fun surprise, but the bennies, King Kong, and Saxe Point Berry stack are also pretty killer.
Love this place and the weekly specials. Great old school diner atmosphere and the staff are always amazing.
The breakfast poutine was delightful, the service was great and super quick. Ill be thinking about the breakfast poutine for ages...
The food and wait staff are amazing. Dont let the location deter you
This is a busy little place but it was easy to see why. We had great service from a friendly server, our coffees and waters were always full and the food was amazing!! I ordered the Prusa and was very pleased with what I received and the rest of my family also enjoyed their meals. The prices were great, especially the kids menu. I wish we lived closer so we could make this a regular place. Kid-friendliness: They have a great kids menu and proper sippy cups for the littles.
Great staff and great food always guaranteed!!
Wonderful food and very friendly, warm service!
Awesome breakfast
I frequent spoons quite a bit while working in Victoria. The food is so good. And the servers are nice. Its my go to breakfast
Good food. But... Took forever to come and ask me for my order. I ordered the King Kong French Toast. And the food came after quite some time, too. Food : 4/5
Server decided she hated us right away. Apparently we didnt line up properly. Food was just ok, but certainly not worth the abuse.
The go to diner in town
Great food and great service! It was so busy, I felt bad asking the waitress for anything, but she was so on the ball I was thoroughly impressed! Way to go guys!
Top notch everything is good souo if the day can rocj your world all the way to its burger time on a friday cheak them out
Bruh Mid food Overpriced Not sure where good reviews are coming from. Either I had a bad experience or people in victoria have no standards.
What a great dinner. Great staff and great service. We tried each other foods and there was all great food. I highly recommend
The Bennies
Love this diner! Food was so good. Surrounding area is a little sketchy but the service is fabulous and the diner has a great vibe!!
The clubhouse was delish!
Wow those breakfast potatoes are awesome! Had a basic breakfast and was very satisfied. Lovely service and nice to see the staff getting along well
This is a very cute little place! Pairs well with a stay at Hotel Zed Funny enough, we didnt use or see a single spoon while we were there LOL. The service was excellent and the waitress was very kind and welcoming. VERY limited in terms of vegan food offerings....you could have toast and avocado or tomatoes and hashbrowns, but no plant protein offerings here. On the bright side, their eggs looked very fresh and from healthy chickens so thats good.
This little Diner is the best 10 out of 10 from me
Lots of homeless people in the parking lot. The building looked dingy and the sign was worn. We didnt go inside or park as we didnt feel safe.
Great place all away around.
Busy place. Waitress was there refilling our coffee. Large portions too. Its been years since I was in a diner. Nice change
Best little breakfast place in the city.
Love this place!!! Dont be afraid of the rough exterior, inside it is fun and so yummy. Very fair prices as well in comparison.
Good food as always, great atmosphere and cheery customer service...a home run! Can recommend the Rockland Eggs Benny! Yum!
Didnt like the fruit flies hanging around. And upon entry it smells like cigarettes smoke
Came here for breakfast with our family. Our first impression was the smell of cigarette smoke as soon as you enter, which was unpleasant, especially with young children. The service is slow, and not overly attentive. However our waitress was pleasant. The kids menu is good value for what you get. The regular menu is a bit over priced for what you get, and nothing overly special. Overall, it was a decent experience but will most likely not return, as there are other places that have a better atmosphere and food for a more reasonable price.
Great food, great atmosphere! I had the original Benny. Hollandaise was delicious. I didnt love the potatoes, but thats just me and breakfast potatoes. Im not a fan. But they had hot sauce on the table so that fixed them right up! Coffee was really good too. Prices were very reasonable and I felt like I got good value for my money. I will definitely be back. I think this is my favorite brunch spot in the city. Kid-friendliness: This is more of a hipster diner. Take your kids to dennys.
